yknow it’s more than a little sad that every artists ‘hand-wringing panicking’ about what ai would do to the industry and how it would replace a lot of the already slim meat-and-potatoes jobs we rely on to survive were overwhelmingly proven true months after the technology really became widespread. It’s sad that convention space is being taken up by enormous booths full of cheap ai prints soaking up the limited space and money available at cons, it’s sad that competitions are getting flooded with ai generated pieces, it’s sad that i’ve seen a lot of ‘man. i’m just gonna go work at target, i can’t compete with this.’ from ppl who have been working in the industry for YEARS.

But it’s INFURIATING to see supposedly leftist game devs and indie ttrpg makers on here try and astroturf a PR campaign for ai to make using it for their projects more socially acceptable, and in order to do this paint artists as pearl clutching hysterics. As if anyone would blink on here if factory workers threw a brick through a window when they were being replaced by automation, but because art is never respected or treated like actual labor our industry collapsing is just kind of a big joke.

notes. i still hate this man i swear with my entire heart. but when i got to the chapter when he made a fuss about a cat got me laughing tbh... tagging @rninies, here you go.

When you mentioned that you were running late as you had encountered something, Rafayel didn’t think much about it. He had assumed you were held back by someone; much to his annoyance and continued touching up on his painting.

The artist was almost done when his ears picked up the familiar pair of approaching footsteps, followed by his door swung open from outside. The man dropped whatever he was holding, turning with a bright grin on his face, only for it to drop when his eyes landed on his worst nightmare.

“Rafayel, hello? Are you still there?” You called out to him, one hand closing the door while the other was cradling a cat in your arms.

Huffing, Rafayel got off his stool and approached you. He scowled and his eyes narrowed as he glared down at the annoying feline creature. His fingers twitched; the temptation of kicking the cat out of his home getting more tempting by the second. But he restrained himself. The last thing he wants is for you to be disappointed with him and he doesn’t like to see you sad, not when the cause was him.

“You…” His voice trailed off, eyes focused on the cat as he watched it purring in content when it leans into your touch, its tail swaying side to side.

“Me?” You echoed, bemused.

“You didn’t tell me you had adopted a… c… cat,” he forced himself to finish speaking, using his entire strength to tear his eyes away from the creature.

You hummed, eyes flickering up to his face before returning to the purring cat. “It was abandoned and I couldn’t bear to leave it alone. Plus, it looked like it was going to rain soon and it didn’t have any home, so I brought it with me.”

“And you didn’t think of dropping it off at the nearest animal shelter?” He arched an eyebrow.

“They were already closed. I’ll drop it off tomorrow morning, before I head for work. So just for tonight-”

“No.”

You sighed, knowing your partner will react like this. You were fully aware of his unspoken dislike for cats and until now, you didn’t know the reason why. But you were patient, choosing to wait for him to spill the beans. A part of you finds his current self rather adorable, with how he was fuming over how the cat was stealing your attention from him. And who were you to not tease him?

“Rafayel, don’t tell me you’re jealous,” you teased, lips curling upwards in a mischievous grin.

“Jealous? Me?” He shots you a bewildered look and barks out a laugh, turning away from you. “Who says I’m jealous? Why would I be jealous over a cat?”

You chuckled, deciding to drop the subject and let him be. “Sure, Rafayel. Whatever makes you happy.”

Currently, you were in the kitchen preparing dinner for the two of you. You had left the cat in the living room, hoping your partner could get to know the cat and hopefully, it might change his opinion on cats as well. Rafayel sat in the corner of the couch, purposely stretching his long legs out so his entire body was occupying the couch, not giving any space for the cat.

But the creature wasn’t bothered. In fact, it merely jumped up and made itself comfortable on his stomach.

Thankfully, you weren’t there to witness him visibly flinching when he felt a weight on his stomach. Rafayel had nearly flung the cat to the nearest wall but managed to catch himself at the last minute. He remained as still as a statue, watching warily as the cat curled folded its paws to hide it underneath its body, turning into a cute loaf.

He slowly reached out his hand, unsure of what he should do, only for the cat to make the choice for him.

It leans into his palm, eyes closing in content and he swore he can hear faint purring from its small body. Rafayel was speechless, taken aback by how the cat had readily shown its affection to him; a complete stranger. He tried to copy your movement from before, awkwardly stroking its head and he knew he had got it right when the purring didn’t stop.

Huh, perhaps cats aren’t so bad.

“Dinner’s ready,” you called out once you finished setting the table.

Blade isn't the type to know how to express himself well, so maybe he'll be the type to try and start idle chit chat before getting on the main topic.

You were sitting comfortably at your shared bed with blade, reading a book until you hear the door creak open.

You looked up, only to see the face you didn't want to see right now.

"Hey." He whispers as he leans on the door frame.

"Hey.." You reply unenthusiastically, directing your focus back to what you were doing.

Suddenly, bandaged arms slowly wrapped around you, feeling his warm breath make contact with your skin.

"Forgive me." He whispers, slowly leaving you with little kisses.

Jing Yuan will use mimi to get you to ease your anger at him, thinking that aside from his warm embrace and whispers of apologies, using a big, warm and cuddly creature will woo you back to normal.

You suddenly looked at the approaching creature towards you, your eyes instantly brightened up. "Mimi! Oh, how I miss you!" You say, opening your arms to welcome it to your embrace.

Mimi makes their way towards you, resting itself to your lap as you play with its fur.

As you put your attention to your lover's pet, you suddenly felt warmth enter your body, tensing up all of a sudden with the sudden presence. "what does the general want?"

"This general wants to be forgiven by his beautiful, gorgeous, and pretty little dove." He says, stuffing his face on your neck as he embraces you affectionately.

Dan Heng would certainly buy you a simple gift as a sign of sincerity in winning you back, along with a soft-spoken explanation.

Dan Heng returned home after a day's work in the astral express, holding a paper bag seemingly from Jarilo VI.

"I'm home, darling..." he lightly knocks at your shared bedroom, making you turn your attention to him.

Slowly, your eyes trailed down at the paper bag he was holding and a small bouquet of ball peonies.

"Ah, I...I've got these for you." He fake-coughs, handing you the bouquet with a tint of blush on his face.

You accepted them, but still kept a blank face to make you look like you hadn't forgiven him yet.

"And...I got you this." Handing you the paper bag, containing a book named, 'Tale of the Winterlands'.

"Now, am I deserving to be forgiven now?"

Sampo at first wouldn't take your anger seriously at first and would most likely approach you as if nothing ever happened, but once he finally sees that you are really, really mad at him...

Dealing with Sampo was just as hard as trying to bathe a cat who's afraid of water, and last night was your very limit.

Waking up with the other side of the bed unusually cold, you sat up and observed your surroundings— only to end up not seeing the familiar neck length blue-haired lover of yours.

Thinking that he must've gone out or something, you dragged open the curtains of your window to observe the falling droplets of rain, your eyes trailing up from the sky and down to the ground until you spotted the man you've been looking for...drenched, Totally drenched.

"Sampo Koski, what in the world are you doing outside right now?!" You shouted in panic, as you stared at him who was looking up at you.

"What? I punished myself by standing in the rain, staring at the window as I waited for you to open the curtains." He explained, his face suddenly going serious.

"Will you forgive me now?"

Gepard thinks that giving your significant other some space to calm their anger would suffice, so he did so. By avoiding you for a week and taking his focus on his work.

It's been a week ever since your heated argument with Serval's brother, technically the man you've been together with for quite some time and truthfully told, your anger towards him had already subsided after about a day or two.

But now, the only thing you've been feeling now is fear and sadness. Probably because he hasn't even bothered speaking to you, or apologizing, making you overthink.

With this issue at hand, you thought that maybe you should be the one apologizing instead... Since clearly, you can say that you were also at fault.

Waiting for him to return back home at 12 in the midnight, you were sitting by the couch with the light dimly turned on.

Soon, the door opened revealing a tired Gepard but you ignored it, having your mind clouded with your very objective for the night.

"Gepard Landau, please be honest with me." You say, walking towards him as you trap him against the wall.

"Are you still mad at me? Is that why you've been ignoring me for the past week?" You ask, biting your lip in the process but what you expected didn't turn out to be the reality.

Gepard Landau, was staring at you with wide eyes and a flustered face.

"Why would I be? Rather, I've been avoiding you because I thought you needed some space..."

Andrew was the guitarist of an extremely notable band credited for pioneering a sub-genre of metal. He's in the top three of most talented people to ever grace a pair of guitar strings. His band's management is constantly being called to fly them out to perform at festivals, the number of attendees rising after the date of their performance being announced.

His left forearm is covered in a variety of tattoos whilst part of his right is blackened, he also has your name tattooed on the side of his neck and lower back.

He's known for always joking around and giggling about something, someone could say something that has sexual undertones and you'll see a toothy grin spread across his face before he opens his mouth to be inappropriate. Whenever he's around you, which is all the time, he has a permanent, Cheshire cat -like grin on his face. He truly cannot help it, you ignite such happiness within him and he never fails to let you know just how much you've changed his life for the better.

His obsession with you always manages to shine through, I mean, it's not like he's trying to hide it. Why would he even want to? You deserve to be knowledgeable of his soul shattering devotion towards you, he shows his fidelity in several different ways.

Andrew believes that absolutely nothing compares to the celestial sight of you. You're the most beautiful woman in the world in his eyes, he can't help but let you know exactly how he feels when it comes to you.

"Just look at yourself, baby, look at my pretty girl. Do you know what you do to me?"

Andrew, and he'd even say this himself, is extremely clingy when it comes to you. There are intense amounts of photos taken of the two of you where his arms are wrapped around your torso, he's kissing your cheek, holding your hand as he follows your lead. When the two of you are in bed, you don't have any personal space whatsoever, his head is always placed onto your chest, stomach or thighs. It's quite humorous as many are intimidated by him and his presence meanwhile you have a photo of him curling around you in his sleep like a kitten.

Nothing gets past him, especially when it's in regard to you. So don't even try to hide your feelings when it comes to a situation in your life, whether it's good or bad. You could be facing a hardship and yet still lie in his face about your state of mind, "I'm fine", you'd say. He doesn't want you to try to 'protect' him from your sadness, he doesn't want you to talk to anyone else about your problems except him. He knows exactly how to take care of you, love, adore, cherish and accommodate you, do you think anyone else would be able to do so in the same hopelessly devoted manner as him?

Not a chance.

Whenever the two of you are at a public outing or a casual setting with friends, he's constantly by your side. He doesn't trust other people around you as he's perfectly aware of the dangerous actions they're capable of. His arm is constantly draped around your waist, an unreasonably harsh glare being thrown towards anyone he thinks is getting 'too close'.

During interviews or in simple conversations with his friends, he'll always find a way to mention you. It doesn't matter how serious of a topic it is that they're conversing about, there'll be a long pause before he's heard saying, "You wanna know somethin'? Y/n-", that's the beginning of the long tangent he's about to go on.

When the band is going on tour, you don't miss him, because he doesn't give you a chance to do so. He has always brought you along with him and his band mates when it's time to go on another world tour. He's incredibly grateful to be able to wake up with you by his side in a hotel with an incredible view of whichever city you're currently in.

Andrew is incredible when it comes to holidays and special occasions, he goes out of his way to give you everything you've ever asked for. Andrew absolutely adores the comfortable, domestic atmosphere he feels with you when Christmas comes around. He loves baking sugar cookies, assembling gingerbread houses, wrapping the dozens of presents he'd purchased for you, decorating the interior & exterior of your shared home, it's all so special to him.

There are several videos on the internet with an abundance of views where he's defending you like a vicious dog. He's far from scared to confront another musician that's commented on you or the relationship the two of you share, he could care less if someone was shit talking his musical abilities, it's the subject of you that he cares so much for. There's been several times where he's broken someones bones for the way they spoke about you, this isn't something he'd ever apologize for. In his opinion, if you wouldn't kill for the person you claim to love, you don't truly care for them.

He went through a lot during his childhood and it's shown through his hesitance of being vulnerable with those around him, if someone begins crying in front of him, he'll feel incredibly uncomfortable. Though, he doesn't feel that way with you, he doesn't feel constricted or judged when he talked to you about certain things that were committed against him as a child. Andrew has cried in front of you an incredible amount of times for varying reasons, this doesn't scare you away, though, how could it? If anything, it bonds your hearts even tighter together. The moment he decided you were his, the light of his life, the one he could bare himself to, your future was sealed.

The nicknames he chooses to call you by vary from hopelessly romantic to outright silly. "Sweetheart", "baby", "honey", /"toots", "sweet cheeks".

If he notices your liking towards a specific, dessert, dish or drink, he'll immediately commit himself to learning how to make them at home for you.

Reincarnation is a tricky thing

A/N: This was sort of inspired by this post from @nerdpoe and the rebblogs of it. I came across it again scrolling through tumblr and reread it during my break and couldn't help but continue thinking about DC characters being a different version or a reincarnation of people Danny knew. Blame the too many reincarnation or isekai light novels / manwhas / mangas I read if you want.

At first Danny didn't mind it. Becoming the Ghost King had its pros but its cons as he learned later on. By accepting the title he had become an interdimensional being, and thus had gotten kicked out of the reincarnation cycle. Clockwork nor Pandora thought about telling him that sooner. But in a way Danny still didn't mind it.

He still got to watch and protect his friends and family or at least their souls and reincarnations. Though there were some things with the recent one he definitely did not expect. For one, Dan wasn't part of the reincarnation cycle either, so to pass the years he took up the same position Fright Knight had. Danny suspected that it was more to spent time with his ghostly best friend than actually doing Danny a favor.

Dani on the other hand had become a part of the reincarnation cycle, he hadn't liked how her childhood had been but once the reincarnation of his father took her in things started to turn better for his once upon a time clone sister.

He laughed at the fact that his mother in this life had become a thief, well at least she wasn't ghost obsessed but he wasn't sure if cats were a better one considering a lot of the things she stole were cat themed. But at least she still had a thing for his dad.

The man was still a lovable oaf but different, more stoic and short worded but when he put on acts for the public Danny could see hints of his previous life shining through. His dad was still a genius and inventing things that added him and his goals in protecting the city. Just like he did previously, just a little less extreme and upfront.

Jazz wasn't his dads and mothers direct daughter this time around but she still got counted as a daughter in a way as he watched her becoming a crime fighter alongside his father and the kids his dad picked up before an incident made her take up more of a operator like position. And ancients did Danny cackle watching Jazz still pulling one over everyone every time she gathered information on their family.

He was sad to see how Sam's life went but at the same time he was proud of her. Undergrowth's influence had swapped over into this life for her and he watched how as a criminal at first she continued to fight for what she believed was right. He was definitely happy when he saw her fall in love and turn a new leaf.

Tucker was not as electronic affine as he was before but he had what the humans started to call Meta Powers now. It was funny, whenever Danny compared his usually brain behind the scenes best friend with the vigilante that got mentored by his father.

All in all he was definitely happy with the life's his family has gotten this turn. Even if the start of some of their lives wasn't as ideal as it was supposed to be. He still hadn't figured out where Vlad's reincarnation was and to the ancients he hoped he wasn't the crazy clown obsessed with his dad. That would be just wrong.

Still as he watched them he couldn't help but muse at the knowledge that he originally was supposed to be among them. He also knew who he was supposed to be, thanks to clockwork but that boy had gotten a brand new soul, one that hadn't been in the cycle before. He wasn't mad at that but just a tiny bit sad. He would have loved to become a vigilante alongside his father too, even if this version of him was socially awkward and instead of space had a fascination with animals and art.

He still would have loved to live among them but he had gotten kicked out of the reincarnation cycle so all he could do was watch over them. It still made him feel giddy whenever he found another soul of the ones he had known before.

That was until the cultist decided to use would-be-him as a sacrifice to summon the interdimensional being that was atactual-him and he ended up face to face with some stupid soul magic mumbo jumbo tied to the kid.

Clockwork was laughing at him, he just knew this was pure entertainment for the ancient of time. Pandora was most likely shaking her head and Dan was probably literally rolling on the ground of his throne room laughing.

"You are supposed to be me, aren't you?" The boy had whispered wide eyed and Danny huffed in annoyance as he saw a familiar fear flit across the boy's eyes. A fear he had seen with Dan as well as Dani so long ago before.

"Don't talk bullshit kid. I am an Ancient being. This is your life." He was just now stuck having Danny tied to him like a guardian angel while being the only one able to see him clearly. How was he going to explain to the kid that he was entirely his own soul and not tied to Danny at all aside from taking his place in the reincarnation cycle without mentioning that nearly half the people in the kids life where his family and friends previously?

Danny was starting to have a crisis stuck to his would-be-him in the mortal realm and all he could think was to yell at Dan and Clockwork to stop laughing!

wanted to post some comfort lestappen after yesterday and generally to kind of cleanse the energy of the tumblr dash over the last couple of days.

“Baby,” Max says, “Come on.”

It doesn’t change anything. Charles stays lying on his front, his face buried in his pillow.

He looks so small like this. So tiny. It makes Max want to protect him, to kiss his forehead and hold him close and keep him there for as long as they live.

“Charlie,” Max whispers, fingers reaching out to comb through Charles’ soft, brown locks, “Talk to me please.”

Charles replies, but the words reach Max all garbled, the sound swallowed up by the intruding pillow.

But still. It’s progress.

Max lies down on his side next to Charles, throwing an arm over his waist. He kisses Charles’ cheek. Once, twice. Three more times.

And finally, like the sun breaking through grey clouds, Charles’ head turns towards him. Just a little bit. Only a single beautiful green eye looking at Max.

“Hi,” Max smiles, his hand caressing Charles’ cheek, “It’s nice to see your lovely face.”

And despite everything, Charles smiles. It makes Max feel like he’s won a goddamn trophy.

“Do we not want to talk about what’s wrong?”

Charles shakes his head.

Max hums.

It’s not ideal. Charles is the kind of person who always feels better once he talks his emotions out. But if he doesn’t want to, Max will not force him.

“Is there something else we can do, that I can do which would help?”

Charles’ bottom lip sticks out, a cute little pout that makes Max’s chest ache.

“I don’t know,” Charles whispers, his voice rough and heavy, “I don’t know what to do, what will help.”

Max nods, running through his mental directory of things and activities that he knows Charles enjoys.

“I think,” Charles begins, biting his lip.

“Yes?” Max urges, running his fingers down the length of Charles’ spine, smiling gently at the shiver that follows.

“I think I just want to be sad for a bit,” Charles says, his eyes so careful, so observant, undoubtedly evaluating all of Max’s expressions, “I just want to be sad and watch some tv and that’s all.”

Max doesn’t know what to think. Or say.

It’s not something Charles has done before, as far as Max is aware of. Charles either talks about it or works out about it or writes some music about it. He’s never just… been with it. That’s more of Max’s thing.

“Is that okay?” Charles asks cautiously.

“Of course it’s okay, schatje,” Max says, moving closer to kiss Charles’ nose, “Of course.”

The corners of Charles’ mouth turn up a little, making the corners of Max’s mouth turn up a whole lot.

“Do you want to be alone? I could give you some space, go sim race for a while or play with the cats.”

Charles frowns, shaking his head, “No. Stay.”

“Okay,” Max smiles, “Do you have something particular you want to watch?”

“No, not really. I just don’t want to think.”

“Okay,” Max nods, “Okay. Come on then, come here”

Max sits up, leaning against the headboard, holding his arms open.

Charles is quick to move, settling into Max’s side, breathing a sigh of relief.

“I’m going to pick the third movie that’s on our watchlist, okay?” Max asks, feeling Charles nod against him, his hair tickling the inside of Max’s arm.

Max doesn’t think he’s even heard of the movie. It’s animated and about a goose and a fish and why the hell is this on their watchlist.

Doesn’t matter. He picks it anyway.

It’s quiet as they watch the film. Something Max is not used to.

Charles is a chronic talker. Even during movies. Seriously. The man has an opinion about each scene and he will make it known.

He is really fucking lucky that Max doesn’t care much about films and would rather be listening to Charles’ voice anyways.

Yeah, it’s odd, feeling Charles next to him, matching his own breathing to his and not knowing any of the things going on in his head.

But it’s okay. It’s what Charles needs. And that’s all that matters.

Charles snorts suddenly, scaring the shit out of Max, “I don’t get it. How can a goose and a fish be friends? Like how can a goose hear what the fish is saying underwater?”

Max has to force down a cackle to be able to reply. It makes his voice sound all strange and high-pitched.

“That’s the part you decide to question and not the fact that they of course can talk?”

Charles rolls his eyes, giving Max’s arm a hard smack, “You know what I mean, you asshole.”

Max doesn’t. He really, really doesn’t.

But Charles has already moved onto sharing his next thought and he sounds lighter and he’s moving his hands around as he talks and so when he asks Max if he thinks it’s stupid that the main character goose has a ‘cooler haircut’ than the other geese, all Max does is nod and say, “So fucking stupid, schatje. It’s so stupid.”
