I'm sorry I'm here to vent if that is okay?
I just... My heart legit dropped to my stomach when i read the notice to be honest. I knew this was coming but my mind forever in denial always brushed it away saying that yeah nah it's not happening for a long time and now that the time is here I'm somewhat unprepared to deal with the fact!? Idk if I'm overreacting but i will miss them so much! But i guess on the other hand this is going to be good, cause a. This finally ends the long back and forth about whether they are doing it or not and b. It will be an actual break for them!? And of course Bighit has lots of content to deliver to us so maybe we will be alright!?(also 3 years is enough time to save money for tickets and travel to their concert right?) Ugh idk i wish they had announced it on like a Saturday and Sunday so that we could take an entire day to deal with all of this instead of having to focus on unimportant stuff like work 😔. I just want to lie down and listen to their songs all day and maybe cry openly instead of pretending something went in my eye.
please, of course, vent away!! i completely understand having such a strong emotional reaction to the news, they've left it unaddressed for so long (even though we knew it could come any moment) that there's sort of an emotional release happening with a lot of us right now. i remember when i'd first gotten into bts and kpop, my heart dropped to my stomach when i heard about the enlistment obligation, idk it was just such a shock in the moment to realize that i was going to have to hit pause on this hobby (?) for a while so i'm not too invested when this announcement drops. and even >now<, 2 years later, i still feel so weird actually Seeing It Happen. like i am very relieved that we finally know and that they >are< fulfilling their obligation (ngl the speculation around this was so fcking exhausting) but there's also some sadness that uhhhhh 2025 feels so so far into the future.
anyway yes!! i'm sure that to us it's not really going to feel like that long of a break, considering all the footage that is going to be released, not to mention each of their individual projects! while we lose our minds over one member's solo album, one or two of them will already be in the army, etc. it'll never fully feel like a sudden and complete break, so that's kinda nice 🤍

When was the last time you read a whole book, to the last page exactly? Im doing that today. my last one has been since like november which is wild. ive just been so busy.

i don't quite know what it is about this song that makes me so.. happy? i guess it doesn't really make me happy, but it's pleasant to listen to. it's relatable, i guess. as somebody who has been surrounded by de@th and su!c!de for the past few years, it's nice to listen to. i'm not saying that's what the song is about, but i think that's why it's comforting to me. the line "the living need attention too" hits a little too hard, as sometimes it feels the only way people would care about me is if i threaten to off myself. hell, the only reason i got help with my mental shit is after i almost s3lf h@rmed.

"Dead girls are the best, that's why we're on every show" God, this is exactly how it feels. with all the mental health shit and news reports of the rising percentage in teen su!c!de. this may be me just spewing shit, but they don't actually do anything about it. just show the statistics in their stupid little suits, and paste the su!c!de hotline everywhere. Sometimes it feels like it's for publicity. And even then, its not brought up often. its not even good publicity. it's treated as just a sad by-product of school. that it's normal to constantly feel so overworked and overwhelmed all the time. I remember talking to my mom, and she had said her generation was the generation that treated feelings as a real thing. that normalized therapy. (for context, my mom is currently in her thirties, so shes a uhhhhh... millenial? not sure. somewhere around that.) if this is true, i really hope that Gen Z can work on dealing with those emotions more. not being overly sensitive, not cancel culture, but any of the bad shit. while most of us seem to have matured far faster than we should have, whether that be from their parents or from their friends, that also means we're emotionally intelligent. most of the time. i hope that since we're getting closer to being able to process our emotions well, that means we'll be able to treat others better. hopefully.
Honestly, as i'm sitting in class in front of dozens of others highschoolers; hearing them giggle and laugh, i can't help but wonder if they're giggling at me. pointing at me. now, i've never been bullied. and i've, sadly, always been one to judge people at face value. i don't know why i did it as a child, but i've always shied away from the "popular" types. maybe all those underdog nickelodeon, PBS kids, and Disney XD shows got to me a little bit too much. i've always seen myself as an easy target for bullying. I'm queer, loud, have a hard time shutting up, have never been with the times, and was "sheltered". i hate that i'm constantly worrying about what people are saying to me. that the moment i say something strange, i'll be shunned. and it's.. i don't know. i think i'm done talking now, this just turned into a tangent- god i need to learn how to stay on one topic. if you stayed through the whole thing, thanks for listening to me. i appreciate it.

Six months. Only six months. But to Bokuto it felt as if only a few days had passed. He could smell the lingering scent of your coconut perfume, a little essence of cucumber added into the mix. You didn’t know what to do. It was scary. You watched his back, leaving your small, shared apartment. Soundless, secretive even, as he opened the door, sneaking out. You buried your face in your palms. Digging your fingernails into your head, wringing your fingers through your hair. You were scared. You were nervous.
“What do I do,” you asked yourself as you laid back on the soft couch. You had tried to talk to him. To ask him, what was wrong. He had merely given you a firm look before closing the door.
You wanted to think he was meeting with his friends. That they were merely hanging out. That everything was okay. But, you knew— somewhere in your broken heart, that it was something else.
Once upon a time, there was a princess. She watched and watched as her prince sneaked out of the castle at night. And she waited. And waited. For an answer. For a reason. Once upon a time, she waited. Once upon a time.
“Why!” you asked, rocking on your hands as you leaned on your bed, hands clutching the undone bed sheets. You watched blankly at the purple spots that were splattered across Bokuto’s body. On his neck. On his chest. On his legs. Not a place untouched. He hadn’t even let you leave hickies when you had slept together.
But. there was almost little to no surprise. You could the slow moving separation through the mere span of three months. No more, did you sleep snug in his arms. No more, did you feel the whisper of a kiss as he woke up in the morning. No more did you feel the love. No more. It was almost a dream.
“Why?” your voice grew quiet at his look. Guilty. He was guilty.
“Y/N, I’m—”
“No you’re not,” you smiled as you looked at him. No. He was sorry for being caught.
Bokuto twiddled his thumbs, rocking on the balls of feet restlessly.
“I’ll leave,” you offered as you motioned for him to leave the room. He gasped as you stood up, walking to the closet. You seemed to grow frantic with her motion. With every action, a drop of your emotion leaked from your tightly-sealed bag. It wasn’t going to overflow. It was going to pop.
You let out a ragged sob as you threw clothing after clothing on the ground. Ripping your shirts off the hangers, as tears stung your eyes. You could hear Bokuto let out a low moan.
“No,” you hissed. “No.”
You bent down, pulling out a half-filled suitcase.
“Y/N,” he hissed as he stared at you, “were you—”
“Tomorrow,” you interrupted, “I was going to leave tomorrow.”
You looked up from your suitcase, heavy eyes landing on Bokuto. His shoulders seemed to sag at the gaze.
“Why?” he whispered, covering his hickied chest with his arms.
“I knew,” You knew before today. You just didn’t believe it.
“Y/N, it was a one time—”
“I’m sorry,” you let a whimper fall from your clogged throat, “I’m sorry I couldn’t be a good girlfriend. I’m sorry—”
“No, I’m sorry,” he pointed to himself desperately, “Please, no. I am sorry.”
You looked at him, adoration still clinging to you as you stared at him.

Kitty’s friendliness is just so sweet to me like I love that after a few episodes Alison accepts Kitty as a good friend but like before that when Kitty wants a sleepover which Alison basically denies her, I’m like O.o Kitty pls be my best friend ily!!
Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Géza Anda
I wanted to include at least a little bit of music from each of the ghosts time frame so I decided on a little bit of Mozart for Kitty - who, given when she lived and the familial culture at the time, probably played an instrument with piano being entirely probable.
Wildest Dreams - Duomo
I wanted to include at least one Bridgerton song for Kitty because I mean it’s obvious how influential issues brought up in the show would be on Kitty’s life. She was alive just before Bridgerton is set (1813 - Kitty died in the late 1700s) so I think she’d appreciate the modern song with a twist, and obviously she’d love the all the dances and everything.
Walking On Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves
An easy choice. I mean, it’s literally the go to song for people who are incredibly happy and optimistic. I didn’t want to include tons of overly happy songs for Kitty because I find her overwhelming happiness to be tinged with such sadness — she’s positive to a fault and it’s so sad what she went through during her life but yeah it’s a nice song for her.
Forever Young - Alphaville
I read somewhere that Kitty is canonically a teenager - I don’t know if that’s true so if someone could enlighten me that would be really great. But yeah is Kitty the youngest ghosts, surely it’s her or Thomas right? Anyway, Kitty will be forever young and I find that a weird concept?? That’s my in depth analysis XD
Enter One - Sol Seppy
I have so so so so so so so so much love for this song I think it’s just gorgeous. Okay but like assuming Kitty grew up at Button House (or I assume Higham House at the time) then she would’ve grown up literally from a little kid in front of some of the other ghosts (Robin, Humphrey, Mary and Annie) so like they witnessed whatever trauma and/or neglect Kitty went through. Ages ago I read someone talking about the ghosts watching her grow up and then taking care of her for the first time after she died (I can’t find the post) so like this verse: “To a friend, A sister in need, Who is not alone, And they are surrounding her, And they will enfold her outstretched hand, In our love” is just so beautiful for that moment when they finally get to take her away from her family which I love and adore and uhhhhh it’s so good, it’s such a good song.
Shake It Off - Taylor Swift
Okay from me legit crying over Kitty’s life and emotional stuff to just being like yeah this is a happy song and just something to dance to!!
Magnificent (She Says) - Elbow
This song just has gorgeous vibes and given that Kitty has just gorgeous vibes as well it was impossible for me not to include it.
Good Day - The Dresden Dolls
Someone suggested The Dresden Dolls for Kitty on my previous music post and I’d never heard of them before I’m a bit in love now… like the dark cabaret style and creepy sorta vocals and piano are just <3 <3 Like damn! And yeah I think this song is Kitty-like cause like when Alison was kinda ignoring her in ALN she got really upset as if this was a regular occurrence in her life as well like her sister or maybe her parents ignoring her in favour of her sister maybe??
Optimistic - Radiohead
“And remember: as long as you try your best.” I think that line is probably the moment of Kitty’s “personality introduction” so I kinda had to include something similar.
Devil Town - Cavetown
Okay I know this song is about parental divorce but I kinda like to apply it a bit more widely to broken families and dysfunctional households which Kitty obviously experienced. I think also the line “nevermind, I’ll settle for two birthdays” shows a kind of optimism in the face of family trauma and the acceptance that bad things often have to be spun in a positive light to cope with it.
growing up is getting old - VICTORIA
Kitty angst, Kitty angst, Kitty angst!!! After the episode descriptions we got today I am really really hoping for much more of a deep dive into Kitty’s emotions. I just want to know more about her life, and I just want the other ghosts to be protective and loving of her O.O
Stacking Chairs - Middle Kids
Kitty’s urge to be around Alison and do what’s best for her is just what I love more than anything. I really love that scene she has with the Captain where he’s like “you one Alison?” And “You want what’s best for her” like Cap/Kitty solidarity is what I live for (more to come in season 3????)
Teenage Dream - Katy Perry
I feel like with Alison arriving at the house Kitty finally has the opportunity to be a young woman again?? If that makes sense. Cause she’s been around generally older and predominantly male ghosts for a long time which is why I think she’s fixated on Alison so much because it’s the first time in centuries that she’s been around someone with similar interests etc as her. So yeah, like asking for the sleepover and wanting to talk about boys and stuff gives me Teenage Dream vibes.
In One Ear - Cage The Elephant
Like I said I didn’t want Kitty’s playlist to all be soft and sweet cause I feel like that’s kinda reducing everything about her into a little soft ball of syrup so yeah this song is sick and it’s basically about not caring what others say about you but yeah I like it!!
Would You Be So Kind - dodie
I had to include something dodie cause she’s just got that soft kind vibe. I don’t love many of her songs, it’s not really my style, but this (and In The Middle) are pretty good. Also I don’t think Kitty has much of a distinction between platonic and romantic love (same Kitty) and therefore this song is pretty fitting.
Amazing Grace - Judy Collins
If I could include Kitty’s ‘Amazing Kitty’, I definitely would cause that whole scene is just really funny. But like I said, I’m trying to include some music from when they would have lived and Amazing Grace is from the 1770s which is just when Kitty would’ve been born.
Happy - Pharrell Williams
An obvious choice but I wanted to talk about this a touch. My irl friend hates Kitty so much because she say she can’t stand people who are always happy and like infectiously positive all the time and literally every time Kitty is on screen she starts complaining and I find it so bizarre and like I’ve called her out a number of times like stfu but it’s constant. Like I find Kitty’s happiness kinda melancholy cause like she has so much to be sad about like her family and sister and stuff and I think learning more about in her life will just extend quite how sad her overt happiness actually is.
We’re Going to Be Friends - The White Stripes
Ngl I had no idea this was by The White Stripes before searching it up but apparently it is. It’s about like childhood friendship and nostalgia which I think is very right for Kitty as she works to try and make Alison her best friend after not having one during her life (and therefore relying on Florence the statue).
Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper
This song just gives me major girly sleepover vibes which I think is quite fitting. I find it interesting that as soon as Alison can see the ghosts (and accepts that she can see them) the first thing Kitty asks of Alison is to have a sleepover, maybe she sees that as the true mark of friendship? Perhaps her sister was always having sleepovers with her friends and Kitty wanted to join? I want to know Kitty’s backstory more than anyones, I think she’s fascinating!!

Bulgaria brings a mentally reassuring anthem to Rotterdam 2021

I’ve said so that VICTORIA herself sort of agreed to have done “Tears Getting Sober” if she was allowed to, but for one I have to thank that EBU said that the artists can’t have their 2020 songs back? You’ll see why when I get to the review after two boring paragraphs of text with technical info, for the country that is Bulgaria!
ARTIST & ENTRY INFO
Victoria Georgieva (or VICTORIA, but I can’t be arsed to continuously capitalize her name so I’ll just say Victoria from now on) was born a singer, for she started to sing at the age 11, went to a specific school of angel voices (no really that’s what it was called), and tried to go to the X Factor while a liiiiiittle too young until realizing that she needed to wait for a few years, and wait a few years she did, and went on to the X Factor again.

She didn’t win, but she still got to sign a contract and sing some stuff in Bulgarian before she decided to rebrand, started singing in English, and completely decided that ballads is her style. She cannot really do upbeat most of the time. So you can’t really have a bop from her in the future. (Well except that there’s a couple of songs in her discography that I personally classify as “bops” but they’re more like... idek sad bops?? but they can be danced to, but I get her, she doesn’t do anything that’s more loud and upbeat and clubby and summery kind of - in short, nothing you can go “YAAASSSS QUEEEEEN” over to.)
The entry she ended up singing, “Growing Up Is Getting Old”, is what I can describe to be about overcoming the emotional twists and turns inside of you as you grow older, because as it turns out, it ain’t what you thought it would be - but if you push just a little further, you realize that if you’re growing up, maybe the life isn’t so bad, afterall - you are able to get up. Somehow. It was written as part of Boris-Milanov-led songwriting camp held during summer, and a lot of people seemed to be a part of it because multiple different folk have songwriting credits on the potential Bulgarian entries this year.
REVIEW
Let’s get this out of the way immediately. I prefer “Growing Up Is Getting Old” to “Tears Getting Sober”. The former sounds a lot less irritatingly underwhelming and a lot more positively overwhelming you with warm emotions and sunglow. “Tears Getting Sober” was a song I could never really connect with - maaaaybe the last chorus is much better on there, but it doesn’t do much for me either, I guess.
Their 2021 forray however is a much different kind of thing - once again, going for lyrical non-cliches, Victoria tells a tale about her inner turmoils and continuing in life, in a way that’s personal to her and also kind of relatable to all of us. We all have these moments of fear and anxiety and nervous systems aching. If only there was someone who’d tell us that we’re worth saving... thanks a lot Victoria, you’re the MVP. Filling in the void that Netherlands from last year had brought us but not anymore - another personal song about getting old and having those kind of feelings inside - and doing a great job at taking the baton in the right way (even with featuring the word “grow” in both of the titles, neat coincidence).
Not only the lyrics feel like a hug, the song just emulates ray of sunshine and golden glitter coming down from the sky, Molly Sanden style. The violins in the G major key playing so precisely, building up momentum throughout the entire song, slowly but surely - starting with the ticking clock in the first verse that may have subtle violin in there; and the first chorus is just so simple piano, and then the second chorus has a tinge of electronic something, and the last chorus goes full in with the backing vocals boosting the song, after Victoria performs the quite magnificent bridge... now I don’t have synesthesia but I associate music keys with colors, and to me G major would always come across as something yellow or orange - “Growing Up Is Getting Old” is a perfect example of why’s that for me. And obviously, Victoria’s love for harmony-humming (even if there’s just one instance of it after she sings “star crossed soul”) complements the song to a T.
And it turned out to be a much better choice than last year’s. Maybe finally a female ballad I am getting behind.
Now I wanna know why the bookies don’t appreciate THIS entry as much as last year?
Granted, now it’s 2021 and the environment is so much different, and the songs have changed, and the dynamics have changed, and now there’s suddenly more competition at stake. And for Bulgaria it fares quite much more underwhelmingly - well, at this moment they’re like 6th, which isn’t bad, but there’s a lack of sung praises coming its way, not quite a feat that “Tears Getting Sober” actually achieved, being the bookies fave right before the cancellation of last year. In general the year has been pretty dry for the previous winner picks like Iceland, Lithuania and this, but I can’t say that the previous winner bets from 2020 are all that dead either? Though I gotta say that Bulgaria wasn’t gonna win 2020 anyway, so it’s a lose-lose in this case.
Also I just can’t at that music video being a little dramatic at the beginning, with the cancellation of Eurovision being presented as if it were a worldwide disaster during which we all shall lock ourselves into bunkers and wait until the better days, eventhough the panini is not war and war supplies kit is not just enough to survive it. But it seems like that the world is quite literally falling apart, as evidenced by Victoria going through all kinds of pathways away from her living room, meeting a (presumably) mini version of her somewhere in between, and literally surrounded by the shaking environment by the last moments of the song
before we realize it was just reality recursing from the TV’s point of view that Victoria was watching all along, and then she leaves the living room again, but in her world, everything is normal and she could just go wherever she wants by car. Even I can’t come up with a storyline ending that’s somewhat intertwined and all plot-twisty and more confusing than that. But props to her team I guess
Approval factor: Let’s say I somewhat approve this message.
Follow-up factor: For the sake of argument let me just say that Bulgaria is moving on a great path, eventhough the former entry leaves me cold, at least the current entry keeps me warm at all times, like a cup of cocoa and a good blanket. Please Bulgaria, never run out of sponsors.
Qualification factor: I’ve seen one or two people throw around the “surprise NQ” tag for this song and I don’t get why??? There’s no way that the tense atmosphere of semifinal 2 would sure-fire-ly kill Bulgaria, even if they have a lot less chances to win this year than they had the last one. There can be some shock NQs indeed though, and if there are, I am paging... uhhhhh Finland? Idk why but you might see what I mean if I ever get around to reviewing “Dark Side”. Bulgaria? Never. It may not win the semi but it will cradle around the top 7 somehow.
INTERNAL NF CORNER
That’s right, Bulgaria managed to do both.
At the time when one other of Bulgaria’s songs got released, within the *Special* Eurovision September 1st-onwards range, people naturally succumbed to their primal instinct of asking whether that’s her Eurovision song... only for Vic to probably announce this early on that no, it’s just *one* of potential ESC entries she’s harbouring. And the remaining potential ones were all on her debut EP. Who actually got a more well-orchestrated schedule for everyone to follow, and yet, people were much more keen to cling on the first EP song out of the gate, “Imaginary Friend”. Now I get that the fans of that song were super upset at the revelation that IF is not going, but it is a technically strong song for the sake of being a technically strong song, and I don’t want to think that Victoria is only forced to choose the songs that can win for her, so she’s such a sweetheart for gravitating towards a song she could dearly care about. So props to her team saving the initial winner for last to be revealed, lol.

Look, I know that favouring the only non-ballad in the whole lineup (well “Ugly Cry” is also not quite a ballad but its beat is kinda so-so, so I tend to ignore it) is kinda sus, also, y’all are sick to death to Billie Eilish comparisons, but I do believe that Billie would never be able to do an “Imaginary Friend” while Victoria could do a “Lovely”. This makes me remember the cover art of Billie’s debut album where she sits on her bed, dressed in white, and so is Victoria on this very MV, with strange shit going on behind her in the mirror. To the mirror, her reflection acts creepy, back again.
The other 2 I don’t feel like caring about enough, sure they got their cred, sure there’s one entry properly crediting Milanov (who seems to not have an actual entry this year that’s purely attributed to *him*, as opposed to 3 last year, 2 of which were performed by acts that returned this year????), sure there’s the funny thing about having a funeral song where out of this and Finland only Austria managed to send a quote unquote “funeral” song, but I think the funeral song would’ve sounded better if the pre-section of it on the “Phantom Pain” video was THE “funeral” song itself, and not whatever was that other funeral song.
In between there was a public sort of survey where people could submit feedback and positive words to Vic’s choices to help her decide - I didn’t get to vote but I feel fine with the winner eitherway, and that counts for something! And the end result was revealed at the very end of Victoria’s very own rooftop concert.

The colors on the circle thingy of this, they were meant to symbolize all Bulgarian entries up to Victoria’s 2nd one, in pictograms that kind of reminded me of Coldplay attributing every song on ‘Mylo Xyloto’ its own little symbol.
The concert was not only full of music and also adverts for the inaugural sponsor iCard (that also included some element of foreshadow in between the suspense, you’ll see why), but also the Bulgarian folk talking before each song, saying all the positive nice words they can for Vic; that she’s talented, and that they were so excited that Bulgaria was doing well in the odds last year prior to cancellation, bla bla bla... also some people were proud of voting for Bulgaria outside Bulgaia, and they made puns about the forthcoming songs on the concert that they were introducing, and so on, and there was also someone called Dara, whom I really want to be sent by Bulgaria one day to show off that they’re not afraid of doing trashy-esque bops that don’t necessarily win
Also they reminded me that Lucy from No Angels (aka the sole reason Bulgaria 12′d Germany in 2008) still exists.
Also Azis.
There was also an intermission where Eurovision 2021 acts could say all the nice words to Victoria on their own part. And several artists chose to... how shall I put it... use up their several seconds rather interestingly. Like how The Roop would say something real quick only to delve into more of their usual “let’s dance, let’s discoteque! *hand scissors* ;P” self-promo, and Senhit carelessly being allowed to say whatever she wants in Italian without subtitles <3 Sorry sis, they’re only given to people from another white-green-red flag-color country.
About the iCard foreshadow... so there’s their advert about Victoria waiting in the line to get something in the Soft Vocals Store, and people ahead of her giving her money the standard oldfashioned way, and the old lady at the counter is... slow, to say the least. After a good amount of time spent waffling around, Victoria finally pulls out the iCard application and pays for the imaginary items she wants, then narrates some stuff about said application, and a Eurovision entry of hers plays when the old lady is at home, spending time in front of TV enjoying the music. Before the concert, the song that played was “Tears Getting Sober”. The advert played once more before Victoria’s big entry decision and entry MV reveal, and in place of the 2020 entry, “Growing Up Is Getting Old” was the one that sounded out loud...
Now you may think that there were attempts at some sort of spoilage here, but after that ad before the concert EP NF result, there was this other advert starring Victoria that played “Imaginary Friend” at the end, a last-ditch effort to trick viewers into going “see? just because that ad played the chosen song doesn’t mean it’s the chosen song!! this song could as well be a chosen song as well!!” yeah no shut up GUIGO IS the chosen song kthxbyebye.
ANY LAST WORDS?
Having said all that praise, I actually have “Growing Up Is Getting Old” fairly low on my ranking. It’s just because the year is so damn good and I have a lot more songs to care about more than this, but I appreciate the gesture that this singer is sending very much. Good luck on your road to conquer Europe, Victory-ia, I’m sure you get the best of the experience and all, because you would deserve it.

I’ll watch it for inspiration! :)” holy shit. holy shit i was so wrong. It’s one of the most viscerally affecting films I think I’ve ever seen, I was like. On the verge of an anxiety attack the entire time but in like the best possible way?? it’s a mastery of character introduction and action/horror and I cried for like the last ten minutes straight. SO affecting. I do NOT RECOMMEND IT if u are already made anxious by zombie apocalypse scenarios, blood, violence, and a Lot of Death.
last show you binged: hmmm uh like I’m currently watching Mystic Nine but at like a normal pace, so the last show I probably binge watched was maybeeee The Uncanny Counter on Netflix? HIGHLY recommend that one, I made @cross-d-a watch it and I’m living for her liveblog reactions lmao. Idk most of my free time has been spent writing the past few months which. instruments: i’ve played the piano for uhhhh.... eighteen years now? and I can play the ukulele and am surprisingly good with the recorder since I’ve had to play it in Multiple Theatre Performances. I was also an honor choir singer back in high school so I’ve done a lot of select ensemble stuff which was super fun!
what i'm currently wearing: a Life Is Good long-sleeved t-shirt that says “Not All Who Wander Are Lost” that I got in a military surplus store like a million years ago and red Adidas athletic shorts that I found at the thrift store a couple weeks back

dream trip: I don’t know??? I don’t really like traveling tbh aslidhalkfdj umm I do want to see the grand canyon sometime before I die tho so maybe a road trip down there? I definitely like traveling solo so I’d probably just hang out with myself and drive and go to whatever places I want and see dumb tourist attractions and sing loudly in the car
fave food: CURRY i know i said eggs the last time it asked me this but I miss my local Indian restaurant I want to eat literal Platefuls of tikka masala at 12pm at the Indian buffet after my physics class again :(

what is antipoetry to you: antipoetry??? what the heck is antipoetry hold on... uhhhh that’s just poetry. who came up with this term. i guess like lyrical fiction would be the technical correct definition but idk I consider anything to be poetry! like that’s the whole point! poetry is poetry is poetry as long as it’s focused on intensity and emotions it’s poetry! a haiku? poetry. the random one-lined mess of words on my phone? poetry. a literal drawing of a cardinal with the word “bird” written next to it? poetry. idk I’ve been trying to teach my kids that there are no wrong ways to write creatively; if you’re expressing yourself and making emotions, then you’re writing! also like half of my work could be considered antipoetry lmao. I love emotionally supercharging the mundane.
currently craving: i have noooo ideaaaasssss i’m literally just vibing. uh. water? ok i took care of that one my water bottle was right next to me.

you absolutely love your trainee work
yes, it’s absolutely vigorous and so time consuming and mentally draining and you’re not sure you can even get up the next day your body’s so sore
but you love it!
the only thing that never seems to tire is your voice
you can go on for hours just singing, humming, even rapping
you can also talk someone’s ear off if you really wanted
but your main focus is to continue singing that sweet melody and hitting those high notes
you do it quite frequently
whether it’s at home in the kitchen or shower, in the practice room during choreo, or even in the halls at school
most people love to hear your voice, you have a real talent after all!
you also love to showcase it!
and jisung? he hates it
to be fair, waking up at 6 and having to hear loud singing everyday isn’t exactly ideal
especially when you can’t really help whether or not you get to hear it
but it seems almost unavoidable whenever he steps foot on campus
he's tried it all
waking up even earlier to see if he'd beat you to school and get a couple extra minutes if quiet
or even coming to school right on the dot with a huge risk of being late so he could prolong his peacefulness
he's tried different routes, different entrances to the building, he's even sat in the wrong class on purpose to see if by chance your voice wouldn't carry
of course you somehow would bump into him on the way or be joking around with your friends in the other classes
it wasn't that he didn't like your singing, in fact he would say that it's really good
perhaps one of the best voices he's ever heard
but it's so constant and you keep singing those sappy, cheerful pop songs and it's so loud and he doesn't know what else to do?????
he often complains that he seems to be the only one not enamored with your voice like the others
don't get me wrong they too don't feel the need to listen to it 24/7, but your openness and friendliness to them makes it so nice!
a nice personality with that charming voice, a deadly duo
and jisung doesn't want to be falling for any of that
he tolerates your friendliness in class just fine and is responsive when you wave to him on the journey to school
he just wishes that he could play his own music loud enough to get that heavenly falsetto out of his mind
or wishing that he didn't have to hear the melody drifting in and out of the halls
he thought he'd never see the end of it
until one day he finds that you're nowhere to be heard
he's not used to this
the sudden quietness it seems
the regular conversation, laughter, and yelling from pranks if still there
but there's no cheerful melody of some girl group song or the hardcore raps of a boy group accompanying them
it's also strange that nobody seems to notice
he's looking around, waiting for those silly lyrics about unconditional love or unrequited crushes
he's waiting for it.............
but it never comes
jisung doesn't realize that he's looking lost until his friends are like
"hey bro are u okay?"
and he snaps out of it like "uhhhhh....... yeah? i'm fine"
"arrrrrrre you sure?" jisung realizes he's still looking for you and straining his ears that all of a sudden he's frustrated by the noise level preventing him from hearing well
he leaves his friends saying he's going to go to the bathroom, he isn't feeling well
and he's so distracted that he completely ignores how his friends are teasing him that he has to take a dump
jisung doesn't know how long he's been roaming the halls for you, or doesn't even know how long he's been running down them
it isn't until he hears a long note that he feels the strong wave of recognition hit him
he wants to say annoyance at hearing your voice again is there, but he's surprised that it's more relief..............
he's also surprised to feel that he's rather concerned
after all, it doesn't sound like your typical singing even though he knows it's you
he's heard your voice plenty of times to recognize it at first but........ why does it sound so different?
jisung listens more to pinpoint where you are and as he continues hearing this song he realizes
he's heard this song before
on one of those music shows that his mom listens to, because she's a sucker for those love ballads
and while you're singing one of those, jisung thinks you aren't singing about having your heartbroken by a past lover like the lyrics say
there's so much raw emotion and it's so different than those innocent pop songs you prefer
he eventually finds you outside by the sports field, standing tall and your voice carrying out very clearly
he'd come to realize the power in your voice if he was able to hear you from inside the school building
you finally finish that song you were singing and that's when jisung finally reaches where you are
he actually can't explain why he walked up to you
before, his goal was merely........ to find you???
not because he missed you or anything
but he also was just..... curious? as to what happened and where you went and more importantly why were you singing so sadly?
unsure of what else to do now that you've ended your song jisung only claps and you're sort of startled when you hear them
but you take the applause easily, already used to the attention you get for your loud singing
"it was good." like always, but he thinks he'd have to swallow some of his pride to say
he'd be too stubborn to have to throw out his annoyances now
"hi, jisung! normally you aren't out here, what's up?"
although he's awkward about interacting with you besides being classmates..... he's never had much more than that other than complaining about your singing going on for so long or the songs you get stuck in his head because he can't not listen
except this time.... he feels more determined and compelled to figure out why the song choice and emotion was so strong
as well as why you seemed to put up that act........
your happy self was accompanied by your happy voice....
so it was obvious you were hiding
"normally you aren't out here either... i just wanted to check up on you"
there's curiosity in those eyes and jisung isn't backing down now
you can see that he's curious but all of a sudden you find that you can't speak
it was as if his very presence made you break down all the walls you had built up so you could stay strong....
especially not when he continues with
"you don't sound the same when you're sad. although it's good... it's different"
and you're smiling but it's very pained and you can't even bring yourself to hum a note like you want to
you thought that like before, you could just sing it all away and instead everyone can focus on your talent!!
not on your flaws or shortcomings, especially as a rising trainee
"i was gonna have a solo song for our debut album"
jisung doesn't really know what to say
he feels bad for how he would think about your constant singing all of a sudden
it was as if the sadness in your eyes, especially your voice, was too much to bear
you hum this time, but it's a flat note and your tone is almost gravelly the next time you speak
jisung's heart stops when he sees how watery your eyes are
"they told me my voice wasn't good enough alone, so they took it out of the album... i have to work a lot harder if they want to incorporate it in the future"
at this jisung is astonished....
liKE?? HUH?!?!?!?! EXCUSE ME????
one of the BEST talents in the GENERATION......... and the company decides to give that up????
his shock melds into anger once he sees the mopey pout on your face
he tries to keep his tone level so he doesn't push you or overstep
"...... how long have you known?"
you hum again and it's calmer, more in thought
"a month or two..."
and jisung can only think.... wow...... you held it together for so long and now???? :(((((
this poor baby feels so bad about judging you before because you never quieted down
but now he can't help but miss your cheerful singing
sure it's only been a day and he just heard one of the most emotion ladden, heartwrenching ballad covers of the century but......
it's just not...... you
while you continue to sulk in thought, you're brought back into reality by hearing a cluster of off-key notes
you look bewildered to find a somewhat red in the face jisung mumble-singing and avoiding your gaze
it's cute, really, to see him trying not to mess up but he is doing so a lot
you can't help but laugh a little when his voice cracks and jisung sputters
"w-what?!!?!? it's not like i'm used to singing!!! ........ in front of an audience anyways...."
you're laughing even more at his face now pouting much like you were before
"no!!! no, it was fine. it was good. for a bit.... you messed up some of the notes"
jisung blushes a little and he really wants to crawl under a rock to hide forever
but............... the happy smile on your face is back and it makes jisung feel so proud of himself
he did that!
he! did! that!
he made you smile!!!!!
you bet that makes him feel so accomplished after seeing you so down before
you know because of your comment and amused laugh, jisung would be less likely to sing again unprompted
but you start humming a note, trying to find a key similar to his voice from what you remembered
"here" you start, and his attention is now solely on you like a student awaiting the teacher "i want you to try to copy the note i hum"
he nods and after a couple of tries and him swallowing down embarrassment when his voice cracks again, he gets it
"okay, now sing the note without me. i'm going to harmonize with you!!"
and the two of you successfully sing a note together and jisung is kind of amazed at how easily you could adapt to his voice
just kidding he's super amazed, but he'd never tell you that
the rest of the lunch is spent harmonizing random songs and notes together while you sway side to side and jisung tries not to blush under your radiating smile
he feels so happy hearing your happy singing again, even if his voice mixed in the bunch makes it sound clunky
but you have a way of making it sound pretty okay!!
and suddenly you’re teasing him saying he should be getting ready to debut with a voice like his
jisung doesn’t even mind that his voice keeps cracking anymore
jisung would happily continue to voice crack if it meant his voice would make you sing again
little did he know that he'd be doing this a lot more even when you aren't sad
he'd be doing this to cheer you up, because you roped him into a duet, or just because he wants to be around you and being around you makes him want to sing out
after all, he can't stand your voice... but he hates it even more when you sound sad

i think most of the time i'll be doing school-work and i'll think of a great idea and i'm like. you know what? this would be a great fic to write. ESPECIALLY if there's an important deadline work-wise that i have to meet. [sobs </3]
which is what happened with i think ALL my fics except "he likes boys" cause that was a prompt and "curse my vivid memory" (for never forgetting you)" because that's a song fic to "brutal" by olivia rodrigo
📒any fics planned?
i do have the rest of "ready, set, ace!" coming over the summer and i have this like vague concept of an idea where i just want one scene in the fic to be where they whisper and look at the stars.. what fandom? no clue..which ship? also no idea... just that one scene (although I've always wanted to try my hand at marelliana.............. we'll see 👁️)
