How would you pitch the upcoming Captain America: New World Order movie?
This is a direct follow-up to my Thunderbolts write-up (link to the post)
MAIN PLOT:
It's the 2024 U.S. Presidential elections and the current president has chosen not to run for re-election, leading to competitive primaries for both the Democratic and Republican parties. Since Sam Wilson is the new Captain America, candidates from both parties are reaching out to him in hopes of getting his endorsement.
Sam, dismayed by the persisting dysfunction in politics and not wanting to add to further polarization in the country, refuses to get involved and adopts a neutral (moderate/centrist) position as Captain America. This leads to discontent from all sides, with many deeming him as a spineless coward who stands for nothing.
One of Sam's biggest critics is Luke Cage, who has since become a community activist working out of Harlem. Due to Luke's hard-hitting criticisms of his actions, Sam is forced to reflect on his role as Captain America. He wants to be a unifier, but he has no idea how since the country is so torn apart by political divisions. Sam reaches out to Luke for help and, despite Luke's criticisms, the two form an unlikely friendship.
One night, while attending one of Luke's community meetings, Sam is contacted by Rikki Ashcroft, a White House employee-turned-whistleblower. Rikki says that the 2024 election is rigged since the leading candidates from the Democratic and Republican parties are both part of the same, secret organization. Before Sam can dismiss Rikki's warning, the two are attacked by mercenaries.
The rest of the movie is centered on Sam, Rikki, and Luke trying to figure out what the hell is going on in the 2024 election. Definitely "Captain America - The Winter Soldier" vibes is the intention here.
The big reveal is that the leading candidates are part of the National Force, a far-right extremist group that formed from the remnants of HYDRA. In contrast to HYDRA's connection to the Nazis, National Force is solely focused on American exceptionalism aka they want to "make American great again".
The movie ends with Sam giving his endorsement to William Burnside, a leftist/progressive candidate who was seen as the most morally righteous of the candidates (he's basically a younger Bernie Sanders/Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez). But, PLOT TWIST! In the post-credits scene, it's revealed that Burnside is also a member of the National Force. His image as a progressive candidate was just a ruse to get people to vote for him.
Movie ends with Burnside being elected as president, leading into "Thunderbolts".
CAST:
Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America
Mike Colter as Luke Cage
Lauren Cohan as Rikki Ashcroft (based on Rikki Barnes, Bucky Barnes' granddaughter / Rikki being revealed as Bucky's granddaughter is supposed to be a twist in the second half of the movie)
Joel Kinnaman as William Burnside
Adam Driver as Josh Glenn/The Hate-Monger, leader of the National Force and the main antagonist of the movie
Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (only a minor appearance near the end when he meets his granddaughter for the first time)

Rikki Barnes Bucky and Anya Corazon Araña
By Novacomics
They're too obscure Marvel characters have been a fan of for a while. In the comics they're friends so I wanted a piece of fan art that would capture that.
Rikki Barnes Bucky
Rikki Barnes is the granddaughter of Bucky Barnes in the Heroes Reborn alternate Universe. after captain America returns to Modern Times she became his sidekick and took on the mantle of Bucky.
My version changed a little bit one changes that she is biracial in my version of her grandmother is Sarah Wilson is black. Also rikki is nickname for Rikkita instead of Rebecca like it was in the comics. Also for weapons I gave her some magnetic frisbees kind of like the ones gogo uses in the Big Hero 6 movie and TV show for her to use as weapons.
Anya Corazon Araña
Ayna Corazon / Arana grew as a young child in Mexico City. Her dad was a crime reporter for an important newspaper in the city. Her mom is eventually allegedly killed by Mexican gangster Jade for her dad's reporting. Ayna and her father moved to the United States city of New York. Where he got a job as a reporter at The Daily Bugle. Ayna was able to eventually pick up English but she still has a Mexican accent
When Ayna was 15 she was wounded in the cross fire between two secret societies. The spider society and the WASP Society, she was saved form her injury's by Miguel Legar a senior mage of the spider society whom believed Ayna was predestined to be a person of great importance to the spider society.
Miguel became a mentor and eventually partner to Ayna as she took up the role of ' The hunter', one of two magical enhanced protectors for the spider society and all good an innocent peoples against the insidious wasp society.
Through out her training and magical enhancement, Ayna gained most of the powers normally attributed to members of the spider family. Though her ability's were more mystical in nature such as manifesting 'spider armor' and using an grabbling hook instead of web shooters

WandaVision/Falcon and Winter Soldier Theory:
So, I read somewhere that a fan thinks the girl with the black mask with the red handprimt is Rikki Barnes.
But Rikki Barnes is from an alternate universe.
Which means, when either Bruce snapped or when Tony snapped, that caused a rift in Universe/Earth 616- which caused Peter (Quicksilver) to show up in WandaVision and if the theory is correct, caused Rikki Barnes to show up.
So, my theory?
Rikki is wearing her brother (Bucky's) dogtags, and when Bucky (from Earth 616) pulls off the chain (while on the semi-truck) she catches him off guard and Bucky blinks and says, "Becca?" thinking it's his sister and that's what causes Bucky to fall of the truck.

idk I just think it would be cool, since they brought up bucky’s sister, if she was introduced in Love and Thunder
because her main love interest is Valkyrie
then when the team meets up eventually she’s with Valkyrie and Sam’s with Bucky when they reunite...feels like there’s a lot of potential there

So I read this article and it stirred up some thoughts! So if Karli is kind of a mixture of characters like this article suggests and at the end of FATWS she is actually not evil/or being controlled by the organization she joins the young avengers!! I also think this because they choose a young person to play her not a middle aged women that would expect with just a gender bend of the characters! Just my thoughts, do you think Karli is is related to Bucky? I would love to hear your ideas/thoughts!

Pitch for Captain America 4 / the SamCap movie:
MAIN STORYLINE:
It’s 2025. After the 2024 presidential election, Tom Kimball is elected as the next president of the United States (his political party is intentionally left ambiguous). Sam Wilson, who was pressured into endorsing Kimball due to his status as the new Captain America, is currently facing heavy backlash from progressive groups all across the country due to Kimball being considered a “bland centrist”.
One of the more notable critics is Luke Cage, who has since become a political grassroots activist since we last saw him (this is a continuation of his reputation as Harlem’s hero).
Less than a week after the election, Tom Kimball is assassinated. To make matters worse, the assassin was disguised as Captain America at the time, thus framing Sam. Suddenly the most wanted man in the United States, Sam goes on the run, hoping to find a way to clear his name.
While on the run, Sam, with the help of Luke Cage, thwarts an assassination attempt targeting Vice President Rebecca “Rikki” Liefeld while she was at a town hall meeting in Harlem. Realizing that there’s a bigger conspiracy going on, Sam, Luke, and Rikki join forces to figure out who is behind these assassinations and what their motivation is.
As the movie goes on, we learn that the figure behind these assassinations is Josh Glenn, a U.S. Senator who is secretly the terrorist “Hate-Monger” and the head of the National Force, a neo-fascist organization that is deeply rooted in HYDRA’s ideology. Despite putting on a friendly face for the public, Josh is a fascist who thinks the “liberals” have destroyed America. Josh also despises the fact that the new Captain America is a black man.
SIDE NOTES:
1) I want to emphasize that the National Force is NOT HYDRA. If HYDRA represents the Nazis, the National Force represents Neo-Nazis and modern day right-wing paramilitary groups. Think Oath Keepers or Proud Boys.
2) Vice President Rebecca “Rikki” Liefeld is the MCU adaptation of Rikki Barnes, Bucky’s granddaughter. That’s one of the plot twists of the movie, that Rikki learns her long-lost grandfather is Bucky. The last name was changed to preserve the twist, with Liefeld being a reference to Rob Liefeld, who helped create Rikki.
3) The main trio of the movie is Sam Wilson, Luke Cage, and Rikki Barnes. Sam and Luke don’t get along at first, which reflects their differing political values (Sam is a moderate while Luke is more progressive). The two men eventually grow to respect one another, with Rikki acting as a sort of mediator for the two of them.
4) For those who don’t know, Tom Kimball is a reference to the 1990 Captain America movie.
5) Due to the focus on the Sam-Luke-Rikki trio, Bucky Barnes isn’t really a major character for this movie. He mainly appears during the final battle and meeting his granddaughter Rikki for the first time.
CASTING THE NEW CHARACTERS:
1) Mike Colter reprises his role as Luke Cage
Tumblr media
2) Lauren Cohan as Vice President Rebecca “Rikki” Liefeld (later, the President)
Tumblr media
3) Alan Ruck as President Tom Kimball
Tumblr media
4) Billy Magnussen as Senator Josh Glenn (the Hate-Monger), the main antagonist

FANFICITON IDEA UP FOR ADOPTION
I had this fanfiction idea, but I really dont have the time to write it. So, here’s the idea and its up for adoption if anyone wants it...
Starts off by dealing with the consequences of Steve’s ending in Endgame - In my little universe, when Steve went back he DID create an alternate reality/timeline and the kids in CAWS aren’t his, because ew.
So, Steve goes back to Peggy and lives his life under the alias of Richard Barnes, so as not to create hysteria by the fact that Captain America is back from the dead and only like a select few people know who he really is.
Steve does go on missions and he does save Bucky and prevent hydra from infiltrating SHIELD etc. But when alternate Bucky finds out about how Steve left MCU Bucky he can’t forgive Steve, and the two fall out.
Steve and Peggy have kids and grandkids, but only ONE of them has the combination of genes that gives them superhuman powers... Rikki Barnes (Grandaughter of Peggy Carter and Richard Barnes in the comics). Steve teaches Rikki how to fight. The kids don’t know that Steve is from the MCU, they just know him as Richard Barnes who is a secret super soldier (or whatever).
So, when it gets to around the time frozen Steve is going to be discovered, MCU Steve says bye to Peggy and goes back to the MCU timeline to hand back the shield to Sam... But he doesn’t tell his kids and grandkids because they wouldn’t have let him go, and they think he’s past away
But when they go to defrost the Steve in that timeline... he doesn’t wake up. Tony said ‘You can only mess so much with time before it starts to mess with you back’. And MCU!Steve being in the wrong timeline for so long basically fucked everything up.
So when the battle of New York happens in 2012, everything is different. Steve isn’t there as captain America, Iron man never happened (because Steve would have made sure Howard raised his son right). So, Rikki fights with the remaining avegers who are still in that timeline, but of course they lose because they needed Tony and Steve to win.
In that reality they Earth is destroyed, but the tesseract (or a portal) opens up and that timelines Rikki falls from her world into the MCU timeline... which of course has her grandfather who she thinks is dead.... Thus she is the ‘girl without a world’ from the comics.
Now it goes to the MCU, with Sam and Bucky.
Sam and Bucky are dealing with there feelings about what Steve has done - Anger at leaving them. Bucky feels worthless (my precious child), Sam is unsure about taking over as Captain America
Because the government are gross, they dont exonerate Bucky just because he fought for them in Endgame. So they put him in a psychiatric facility, for rehabilitation.
Plus, the government aren’t just gonna be like ‘Oh yeah, Sams the knew Captain America because Steve said so’. So they create a new captain America who they see as the ‘ideal’ soldier, and Sam has to go on the run with the shield so he doesnt get arrested for what happened with the ACCORDS.
Sam breaks Bucky out of the psychiatric facility and they go undercover as spies, with the help of Nick Fury, Maria Hill and Sharon Carter (Who will be a badass woman, who is not reduced to be anyone’s lover). They go on missions to prove this new Captain America is evil, and also to investigate these portals from the multiverse which have been opening up.
INSERT BUDDY COP HUMOUR
Eventually, they are going to run into Rikki Barnes whose gonna be super confused about who they are and where she is. They battle and she recognises Bucky from a photo in Steve’s office from her world. And they take her to old!Steve who is out living the quiet life.
He is forced to tell her about how he left his world because he was so broken. She’s really pissed off because technically she shouldn’t have ever existed, plus she’s really started to become pals with Bucky and can’t understand why Steve could leave him.
Bucky always loved Steve, and Steve loved Bucky - but Steve thought they’d be toxic for each other if they ever got together because they were so broken.
Rikki tells Bucky what happened to her world, but she refuses to tell Steve because no matter how much she hates him, she knows it would kill him if he knew what he had caused.
There’s an epic final battle where Sam, Rikki and Bucky team up and share the shield to defeat the new Psycho cap
Everyone is so pleased that they exonerate Bucky and Sam is the New Captain America
Rikki decides to travel the multiverse under the alias of Nomad (from the comics) fighting crime. Steve asks her for a favour before she goes. He tells her about the timeline where Thanos doesnt exist, and asks her to travel there to make sure that that Steve saves Bucky. She says she will do it for Bucky but not for him and leaves.
I had ideas for a sequel too, might post it later. Maybe I’ll get round to writing this one day, but seriously doubt it :(

Captain America and the Winter Cadet
read it on the AO3 at https://archiveofourown.org/works/33745600
by Writer_Lethogica
This is for the Samtember 2021 Event being run by the Sam Wilson Fest Tumblr.
DAY SEVEN: Divergence
EXCERPT:
“Oh. Me?” said the girl like she wasn’t used to being asked that, “I’m, um…I’m Rikki. Just Rikki. And I’m the Winter Cadet. Or. Well. That’s the name the government gave me until they figure out whether or not I count as government property. I’m sort of a fan of Nomad, but I don’t have the ability to name myself currently, as. Um. US Government property.”
She posed, as if she thought heroes did that, like she wanted to be the kind of hero who could pose, and it was almost sadder to feel that coming off of her than hearing how awkward the kid was. And Sam really needed to know who this kid was.

Have you seen the latest tfatws "leak"? Bucky discovers he has a granddaughter named Rikki played by Erin Kellyman who Sam fights in the trailer. I doubt it's true, just more rumors but what do you think it?
Hey. I didn’t see any of this latest FATWS stuff. This is interesting. Rikki AKA Rebecca Barnes exists in comic canon as an alternate reality granddaughter of alternate reality Bucky.
I’m rusty, and it’s confusing, so please bear with me, but she appeared before Brubaker’s rebirth of Bucky as Winter Soldier (Marvel tried a few ways of bringing Bucky back to life and this was kind of one of them - long story, I’ll make another post) but then later as Bucky’s multiverse alternate reality granddaughter.
She actually fought 616 Flag-Smasher, so it’s interesting she may be Flag-Smasher in FATWS (or at least part of the Flash Smasher group).
You may have read convos where people referred to a ‘female Bucky’ - that’s the character they’re taking about - Rikki Barnes. She has also been called ‘female Nomad’, though she only went by the alias Bucky, and was actually Nomad as a hero in her own right for a time. If you’re interested in 616 comic stuff, check out Heroes Reborn.
Rikki Barnes is a hero in Earth-616. Her power is being able to reincarnate into any universe. If she is who she is in FATWS, that is, alternate reality Bucky’s granddaughter, this opens the multiverse up further.
If she is Bucky’s actual granddaughter, then it makes their stories a whole lot sadder because it means Bucky has a family he doesn’t know about.
Her appearance in Earth-199999 is probably due to, and this is my interpretation as a comic book connoisseur, weird shit. Weird inter-dimensional shit that they won’t explain very well lol Rikki was tied to Reed Richards, so the implications of her in Earth-199999 (MCU) is, again, very interesting for me.
It’s huge and I don’t know how they’re going to work it in. But Feige or someone said this show was focusing on heroes who wouldn’t normally get a lot of attention plot-wise from the films etc. Including Rikki actually opens Bucky’s story up in a surprising way. I did not see that coming lol
Also, I didn’t realise Erin Kellyman was Flag-Smasher in the trailer (there’s a lot going on i.e. Sam Wilson), but given that there was more focus on Flag- Smasher than there was on Sharon Carter, her role is probably going to be significant.
Tumblr media
I’m actually excited to see what they do with the character and how this arc might play out. I have to reprocess my original conjecture for the show, now. This is fun. Thanks, Anon.
