“Do I Know Someone Who Can Help Us With ____?” (2d6)
2. No; the person you thought could help refuses and adds another complication to the situation. (Example complications: they demand payment for a past debt, they are with someone you wanted to avoid, or they call the authorities regarding your illegal activities.) 3. The person you know who could help has gone missing, you’d have to find them first. 4. Yes, but they demand a steeper price than you would expect. Furthermore, if you refuse they will be offended. 5. Yes, but things are awkward between you. The price they ask will be generous, but only after an uncomfortable conversation. 6. Yes, but the help they can offer is sub-par, or only half of what you need. 7. Yes, but they need you to do a small favor for them right now before they help you. 8. Yes, but you’ll owe them one. Could be a future favor they call on, or a cut of whatever money you’re after, or something else. 9. Yes; they’ll give you a good price but it’s not free. 10. Yes, but they don’t seem too happy about it - you’ll have to look for help somewhere else next time. 11. Yes, there’s someone who owes you one and you can cash in that favor. 12. Yes, and that person also gives you an unrelated piece of helpful information.

i woke up w more brain worms thanks for giving more w ur response <33
but yknow how Tabitha was kinda the new Master for the super mutants in the Mojave… yeah that but König. his ass would be a cult leader too ur so right. you’d hear the radio signal went down and got a bit too nosy and mosey your way up to him like hello need fix? and he’d snatch you and keep you around. like coming to fix his radio was basically a marriage confession!!! and like how are you gonna fight him anyways he’ll just keep bringing you gifts (and bones..) until you say yes :)
ghoul ghost either is running around w a mutated horse (maybe a dog too :3c) or is wandering and doing random bounties (that man would be side questing, no allegiance just vibes)(at the moment i don’t have anything on him but we’ll see after work)(i saw what you said.)
gaz could easily be a synth too i just saw that.. and yeah i was gonna say he could be a minuteman but like ncr ranger makes a lot more sense in my pea brain!! he’d follow his courier around to help w deliveries(his ass just wants to see them shoot things, ur so right about the deathclaw thing) and would try and convince them to come home to cali with him, where it’s safer and he has a home there (totally not trying to trap them, ), like why would you ever wanna go to the strip babes? that place is gross and nasty :( (he’s gambled there a few times, like i can see soap def having fame on the strip and they’re buddies)(also he definitely wants like a whole family and poor courier just wants to figure out where this gambling chip goes to for some money)
clawing at elder maxson’s face w malicious intent btw, but he’s giving price and i don’t like it. that man would be a brotherhood elder who has his own agenda or just a very well respected knight, bc tell me he wouldn’t kick major ass in power armor (that man would be in love when he goes into a town to retrieve a piece of tech and go nuts over the pretty lady who runs the repair shop and offers to fix up his gun)(or maybe he’s w a scribe! who knows ill def have more later though)(im thinking about the ghosts guys rn a lot though)
Best friend Tabitha!! I love her. Bad radio show queen. König gets mad that the radio sucks, kills Tabitha and takes over. You're free to go Raul, have fun, stay safe out there(Raul is immediately executed for helping Former Best Friend Tabitha).
Now König is leader of a tidy cult, he's got some big changes to make, namely: we are militarizing this bitch, and putting some decent programming on the radio. More music, less talking. Also let's make this place a little safer for the humans, start getting some trade going(and catching pets).
Now most humans know not to go investigate the radio signal but you're fresh out of the vault, and eager to see who it is that keeps the radio running. Especially when the in between programing sounds so nice! König's voice following you across the wasteland, promising freedom and shelter for humans and mutants alike. He needs a little help fixing up the radio, but luckily you've got some radio know-how under your belt. Maybe he'll give you a couple caps for fixing the thing!
Well. The programming certainly takes a turn after you fix up the radio. When songs aren't playing your soft moans and whimpers are filling the air waves. König fucking you live on the air so everyone can hear how wonderful and superior super mutants are. Listen to how much pleasure his pretty new pet is in, begging him to come and fill you with his potent mutant seed.
"Some of you may wonder where my pet is today," König lowers the microphone so that slurping and gagging noises can be heard, followed by a short whine of pain and period of heavy breathing before the slurping sounds resume and he sets the microphone back on the table, "aren't they talented? I told you, humans are good for something, and very easily trained."

some random ideas for the totk rewritten project
krog (korok) seeds
i think i found a way to include krog seeds even if i reintroduced bags for expanding your inventory- what if the krog seeds are redeemed for the amiibo sets and maybe a few new things? that way you are not forced to engage with krog puzzles if you are tired of them and its not essential either, you can choose what armor set you want instead of being "surpised" by the same link hat three times in a row for fighting your way through the depths (like i was lol)
considering im rewriting the krog forest to be like a minidungeon with a unique miniboss and boss AND you start the quest for restoring the master sword there i think that this is acceptable
what if one of the expensive rewards was a krog armor set that includes the mask from the botw DLC but adds two more pieces, its effect could be to turn invisible as the krogs are to most people; considering how they are not invisible to everyone it could still work with important NPCs still seeing you AND you could run through monster camps without them chasing you if you just want to get through without you attacking them- since its expensive you gotta gather alot of krog seeds to buy it meaning it wouldnt make encounters much easier bc you have to fight alot of monsters before being able to afford it anyway and the effect is removed once you attack an enemy .... or maybe once you are spotted you can stand still and the effect restores itself nhfkjdnkjfdk
food + storage
to raise the difficulty a little i thought about bringing bottles back, they are physical items this time with a limited number and are able to store medicine and soup that has no expiration date; personally i like cooking tho so i want to keep it, maybe with the effect of being a bit more limited in number and, while not spoiling completely, it loses some of its effectiveness over time
how you use them im not yet sure, either the same way in inventory (which i think i will go for since i dont want to change it that drastically and with the added balance of limitation i think that is still fine) or on some kind of item wheel you can set yourself like in skyward sword
there are bags you can find as bigger items that will expand your weapon, shield or bow inventory slots, perhaps a small bag gives you one and a big one two slots- it would be a bigger and different reward for exploring or quests and fills the spot for inventory expansion
theres a chest in links house (i thought maybe links house is still links but they built onto it so zelda has a place to stay as well, like a bigger/double house) that can hold armor sets if you dont want to keep carrying all of them around but dont want to sell them either
repairable weapons through zelda
weapons still break but are full weapons again, i found the excuse of them all being useless now through the cataclysm ... somehow for some reason a pretty blatant way for forcing you to fuse stuff bc its literally the only viable thing to do, but i like the idea of inventing new weapons with materials; to balance it out and give you an incentive to help out your friends i figured that at first weapons still break, but in each region is a smith that can teach zelda (who is your companion in this rewrite) how to repair weapons of a certain type (zora, spear, goron, two handed, rito, bows, gerudo, one handed-- perhaps it is a longer quest of idk .. bringing certain weapons to those smith or similar) which she can do anywhere outside combat;
how broken the weapon is determines how much extra material she may need to do it- im still working on it but i got the idea of the status of the weapon being symbolized in three stages, fine, damaged and broken; damaged is the one that needs less material to fix up, broken costs more- a broken one might still occupy an inventory slot but is unusable or very very bad damage wise, you can throw it away either manually or when you try to pick up a new one you can choose if you want to swap it out (just like they did with stuff from chests in totk .. idk why they didnt add that to in game weapons lying on the ground too) or choose to keep it and repair it once you are out of combat
arrow types
i dont like the menuing in totk for the arrows ... it was one of the most frustrating things to deal with (especialyl bc it sorted your inventory too??? when you used the sorting in the quick menu???) so i wanted to change that a little, havign to go into the quick menu everytime for each arrow i find tedious too, so;
there are more arrow types but they are craftable with arrows and materials, you can craft them in bulk out of combat (the typical types from botw -fire,eletric,ice,bombs- but then add those confusion ones, wind, the cloudy shroom thingy, poison .. perhaps a few more if i can think of more but not too mayn to not clutter it again)
enigma stones function
i wanted to change how enigma stones function somewhat, they dont "enhance" the ability of the champion/sage (i still wanna call them chmapions bc thats what they areeeee) it allows them to link an ability of theirs to link without the orginal champion having to be present or dead, the stones come in set of two each and function somewhat like a magic communication between the player and the champion, once you obtain the second piece its embedded into links shiekah arm prosthetic (also something of my rewrite) and allow him to call upon their ability at will through a second selection wheel
ranch ruins
the ranch ruins i wanted to be rebuild (bc thats cool and i thought restoration was a theme? lol) and maybe you help rebuild it proper and as thanks you can put your horses there to roam around all at once when not taken out to ride, not a big gameplay thing but a neat quest with a rebuilding thing of a building we havent seen in its prime and a neat addition of letting you see all your horsies at once :)
(totk rewritten project)

Rune Factory Tides of Destiny (extended thoughts)
Tumblr media
@saficswrites asked me to go a little more in depth and I've actually been planning on talking more in depth anyway, so this is a good opportunity! I'm also going to throw in some of the resources I used while playing because there's a lot of great ones but they're kind of scattered.
So I will start by saying that I started on the series with RF4 back when it originally came out for 3DS and I played the heck out of it. Like, tried taming every single monster in the game levels of played the heck out of it. I've since played all of RF1, RF2, most of RF3 and RF5, and now RFToD. I chose to go back and play 1, 2, 3, and ToD after RF5 was announced. The only one I haven't touched is Frontier.
And yeah, Tides of Destiny does have some quirks and I can see why some people don't love it as a Rune Factory game. Just starting with some of the criticisms (because they lead into one of the things I actually really like about the game): The farming is very pared down and it's entirely reliant on the monsters you tame. Basically you just plant generic seeds and the monsters you put on the seasonal island determine what they grow into. Different monsters can grow different things.
That is somewhat annoying because you can't see what the monsters are called or what they plant before you tame them, the game doesn't really give you a clear list of everything you can plant, and you only get to tame 30 total so you're going to be doing a lot of swapping. It is possible to get everything with some planning tho (I borrowed the monster setups from this GameFaqs thread).
That said, I personally kind of prefer this? Micromanaging the farming has always been my least favorite aspect of the Rune Factory games. In Tides of Destiny you don't have to worry about that. There's no watering, no harvesting, no spreadsheets keeping track of exactly what seeds you need to buy, and the crops grow so fast (most are done in 1-2 days when you have your monster friendship maxed out) that you don't really feel the randomness. I'm in summer of year 2 and I've already got a storage full of full stacks of basically every crop in the game. That means you can focus 100% on the exploration, dungeons, making friends, etc.
And the exploration is. My god. I love it. It's basically if you threw Rune Factory and Legend of Zelda Wind Waker into a blender. For reference, Wind Waker is one of my favorite Zelda games ever so that colors my impressions of the game. The exploration is 100% riding around through the ocean on a giant golem, fighting giant monsters, and digging up islands and salvage points. The quests usually point you toward specific islands to unlock and there's no point where I felt like I needed an external tool to explore, but if you want help someone made an excellent, detailed map of the stuff you can find in the ocean. You also eventually unlock a fast travel and there is a way to speed up getting from point A to point B, so I never felt like wandering through the ocean was too intrusive.
I also really, really, really like the characters. Each one has a little required "friendship event" you need to watch to unlock their next friendship level, and each of the main island inhabitants has at least 6. All the friendship events are connected to a little character arc which is completed with level 6. The bachelor/ettes get an additional 3 event arc if you unlock their love events as well, though you can't access that until after the main plot is over (and gender locked unfortunately). And there's actually a reason to get them up to the max (level 6) before the endgame, since you get a benefit in the final boss battle.
IMO they're all just really likable, funny characters. Some of the events actually made me laugh out loud, and I was usually smiling the whole time any of the them were talking!
I also really like they way they handled the main characters (Aden and Sonja). The plot of the game is that Sonja gets trapped in her childhood friend Aden's body, and the story is about figuring out how to separate them again. You can play as Sonja once they're separated at the end of the main plot, but you do have to do the entirety of the main story as Aden. Initially I was kind of miffed about this, since I vastly prefer playing as female characters in games, but I actually really like how they did it. For two reasons.
One, I just really like Aden as a protagonist. I was expecting him to be kind of the goody two-shoes amnesiac like a lot of Rune Factory protags are, but no. He's sassy as hell. There was at least one point where one of the characters (I think Joe) is like "hey buddy ol' pal" and Aden is just like "Yeah we're not friends sorry you thought that tho."
Two, initially I was thinking that the whole "my best friend is living in my head" thing was going to be some secret they kept. Like Sonja was going to be there, but she was going to be quiet most of the time or not really interact with the world. But no. The first thing that happens is the obligatory RF starter girl (Odette) finds Aden, and the first thing out of his mouth is "Sonja is stuck in my head, isn't that weird?" and EVERYONE just goes with it. I love it. They really lean into the wackiness/silliness of it all. Sonja is very present in the dialogue and the plot. On her birthday characters wish Aden happy birthday to pass it along. The writing frequently plays around with the dynamic of them being stuck together (such as the two of them arguing over how Aden is going to take a bath), and they frequently swap off in dialogue and give different perspectives. They each kind of have their own relationship with the various characters around town. Most of the friendship events feature both of them in some way. It's also really nice how they'll talk to each other throughout gameplay. They'll say good morning to each other, Sonja will warn you when your health is getting low or what time it is, etc.
Despite playing as Aden (physically) I really feel like you're actually playing as both of them to some degree, and I really like that. It actually feels kind of lonely once they split at the end of the main plot and you don't get Sonja's little quips in your head anymore.
I think those are the big things. There's also lots of little things I enjoyed. I love the aesthetic of the world, and the gameplay systems relating to RP management and stuff are much more refined than the older games. I'd say the only mane difference between it and RF4 is that swinging your weapons still costs RP. The crafting is a little annoying until you get the hang of it (you can craft anything up to 20 levels higher than your current level, so it doesn't suck to grind too badly). There's a bizarre amount of spelling errors, which isn't super intrusive but it is kind of funny lol.
On the negative side, the story is pretty short. You can easily beat it in less than one in game year if you're rushing. I'm also not a huge fan of the main story needing to be 100% completed before you can do marriage and the like, since the game is basically done at that point. I don't think there's much post-game other than the goals you make up for yourself. I do think playing as Sonja was a bit of an afterthought. She has like a quarter of the romance options Aden has and there's some odd mistakes I've noticed playing as her (like trying to knock on Sierra's door while she's asleep will have Sonja saying a line about how the bath is closed ???) but it doesn't bother me too much so far.
Those are pretty minor negatives though. I still had (and am having) so much fun with the game!
I also heavily used this website as a guide. The only thing is that I wish they had pictures of the monsters because I think they have slightly different names from the rest of the series, and it can be confusing cuz some monsters have different colorations and therefore do completely different things.

So, I haven't played PMD Gates to Infinity, but started watching a walkthrough of it, and the beginning of it struck me as a promising idea for a PMD game: your partner wants to build up a town.
Adding a town management aspect to it sounds like a great inclusion for a PMD game.
You literally start with nothing, you have only you and your partner to rely on at the start in the barren wilderness where there are dangerous wild pokemon about, and your base is a hollow tree that you hide in. You get news and supplies initially through nomadic traders that may go by your spot, you may also see them in dungeons and they'll do trade with you. These guys will also start you off with hints, rumors, and quests to help start building up that town.
You'll go into dungeons to save certain NPCs who would be willing to join you and help build up that dream town. You go into dungeons to gather up materials and food. Maybe seeds to do a little bit of farming. You'll go in at the request of pokemon that will join if you see their requests through. You could also do crisis mission that could pop up, like the river suddenly stops flowing so you need to go into the near dungeon to find out why.
And through your efforts, gradually homes will be built in that once barren spot you and your partner called home, and the land will get more green and vibrant. Some of those nomadic traders may even settle in your town if you'll have them, setting up shops. You can see a bank built up, a rescue base for those that will defend the town while you're away, homes for farmers, a mail hub, ect..
And as it gets going, you and your partner can go talk to townies every day, offer them gifts to boost friendship, and see if there's anything they need. You can see events where there are disputes that you can help resolve. You can even have some pokemon come up and challenge you two for the right to run the town, and it could be that some may want to fight you for it, some want to do a challenge of gathering materials, it could even be a popularity vote.
If incorporating a friendship system, that could influence how well you do when the town is in danger. Playing off that this is a more dangerous world of pokemon, so towns and villages are super rare and typically hidden, your town can be at risk of raids. They can be like randomized Monster Houses that happen outside your town. If you got at least decent friendship with NPCs you gathered, they'll rush up to help you fight and defend the town, while those you have lower friendship with will go hide, though maybe certain ones will go fight anyway, friendship good or not.
And of course mid game you'll have your story related to why you're there in the pokemon world, insert legendaries and big disaster here; but at the initial core, it's just the idea of having a town management in a PMD game and it just sounded so fitting and could've been a lot of fun. And it could've gone further than what GtF brought in as a concept, as I don't think being next to an already established settlement really helped with that idea.
But really starting from scratch, going into dungeons to get NPCs and materials, that should've been the way to do it.

I've thought of a video game plot that I think could be cool!
You start in the usually vaguely-medieval setting. There are a lot of NPC's, and they are very clear about your objectives - you need to get to the end castle and defeat the enemy. Prove your worth. Straightforward. If you follow their instructions, it's a reasonably short game of increasingly difficult enemies until you fight the end boss, and take your place on the wall of heroes. All the heroes look similar to you, though if you look closely, they start much smaller and grow. Their expressions also get more subdued.
You start again at the beginning. Game difficulty has ramped up. A few of the paths have become obstructed. NPCs are a bit more demanding. The world has less complex visuals. It's technically possible to play through 4 times to get the bad ending. But the 4th is punishingly hard, everyone is vicious, and the whole world is grey. All the mobs are ridiculously strong, and you are weaker. When you restart for your fifth round, your character keeps pausing, keeps sitting down, and eventually the game fades out. The end screen tells you to keep going.
There are other weird things, right from the beginning.
You have a screen for objectives, and it updates when you talk to NPCs, but doesn't quite match what the NPCs are saying. If you ignored NPC dialogue, you'd think the game was about rescuing someone at the castle and saving the world. The win screen suggests you did this, and doesn't even mention proving yourself, but there isn't any other indication of a prisoner at the castle, or the kingdom in danger.
Also, the NPCs are REALLY discouraging of side quests and exploration. Their dialogue gets more and more hostile if you leave the main path, or build up stuff in your inventory. And the main path has a lot of fighting, but the rest of the world is mostly environmental puzzles.
There are blobby ghost things if you do explore. Some of them run from you, or hide behind barriers. Others give you side quests to collect sets of items, or visit random locations. A few drop their own inventory and apologize for having the items before running away.
It's pretty easy to get sets of items, or get notified that you found X location. Finding which ghost wants what is a bit harder, though. There are a LOT of ghosts. And not all the ghosts will let you approach them, at the beginning.
If you complete a side quest, the ghost transforms into a version of you. You merge. It starts providing commentary, on the side of screen. And the world transforms, slightly.
Usually it's just a cosmetic change. More trees, the buildings get more stained glass and pretty tiles, etc. But sometimes you get new movement options, or types of items. Every few completed quests, the ghosts get more detailed, until the map is populated with versions of you, doing various things. They no longer run. They're playing with their collections of stuff, sitting in scenic locations, building ridiculous contraptions. Some wave when you walk past, or follow you for a short distance, bombarding you with dialogue.
The parts of you that you've absorbed provide worldbuilding, tell you how cool various things you pass are, give you advice for completing quests. They tell you to ignore what the NPCs say. Most of the NPCs act the same, but some get worse and some get nicer. They still redirect you to the main quest. Some parts of your character think the main quest is pointless, others think it is important, but most of them don't want you to do it. Some of them act guilty about this.
Eventually, smaller castles open up. You can beat them, and the game will restart without amping up the difficulty or resetting anything. You can also ignore them, and just collect all 64 types of tree seeds. You've already done that, but you get really happy commentary every time!
There's never a way to 'beat' the main castle without making things worse. But if you sneak in with the right items, you're able to transform some of the wall of heroes. They merge with you like the ghosts, and each time you get a 'death' screen, telling you that the hero was lost and the world is going to fall into ruin. (It doesn't.)
The final state isn't an end. You can endlessly collect items. You can defeat castles. You can get alternate tilesets from some ghosts, so you play in scifi, Classical Greek, etc. settings. But every time you quit, the screen fills with words from parts of you - thanking you, saying goodbye, and telling you things are good.
-
Anyways, enjoy your lives, guys. Don't destroy yourself trying to fulfill society's expectations. Be your weird neurodivergent self. Executive dysfunction is real, you aren't being lazy, and both the world AND you are probably asking to much of yourself.

QSMP Philza update, go watch the Wednesday the 25th and Friday 27th updates if you don't want to be spoiled.
Nothing really major happened Wensday, philza went exploring for a bit after getting on to see if there was more black concrete, which there was.
He then spawns in his Minime who he later names Little Twat (not a joke).
Then he spends an hour and a half with Fit and Tubbo talking to the new Cururucho AI at spawn, occasionally getting flirted at, told stuff that could not be true and such, and trying to exploit the AI.
They then went to lucky duck before returning to spawn because Tubbo needed to get his minime Kitkat back after it randomly disappeared. So a random fed. worker came, had Tubbo dance then Phil got board and decided to work on leveling his minime, leading him to dig down under spawn to tr and find iron I believe leading him to drop down into a massive wold edit hole. Cucurucho then joins Phil stares at the strange area before giving Phil a quest to build an aquarium.
Phil then went off to gather materials and mobs for the aquarium, was joined by Fit for a while before Fit leaves, after which Phil spends a few minutes exploring before returning to spawn near the nino to "build the aquarium," if you count an outdoor aquarium with 5 tanks and no other infrastructure. However it counted so Cucurucho have Phil his requested building block rainbow glass or at least the components for it. Phil then went to gather sand for the glass, spent time looking at glitched terain for an hour or so. After which he headed home, hat a none cannon chat with BadBoyHalo and Royer about whether the Brazil or Vagus trips were better, before Phil went off to do a few cores before getting off for the day at the nest.
Friday had some lore happen, but it was nothing major or egg related. If anything it related back to the bird cage with the "wise crow" comment.
To give a better flow of events, Phil woke up, decided to work on upgrading his now 2 mini me's, affectionately called Little Twat, and Little Shit (normally, I would censor a curse, but the name is the curse word so...). With Little Shot asking for a weird mushroom (twice.). After doing some of the Minime quests he went home, had an existential crisis due to the black concrete at his face spreading, then went inside to check the message chest, finding nothing. Then while doing further checks he found strange vines on the inside walls of Tallulah's seed garden, which he followed to the back wall to find a picture of a skull with vines on it and a book asking if Phil remembers his time before the server and promising help.
Side note, I personally want to say that that is Kristen, the goddess of death, trying to communicate with him. It seems to out of place to be the federation, and with how different Phil's ticket is from the rest it has to point to outside interference. And one of Kristen's main ways of talking with Phil previously when lore related back to his wife revolved around crows. So her leaving a critic crow book? Seems plausible.
Plus, sleep is often described as the line between life and death.
Phill took some pictures then called Fit to come see, with Pac joining along, only for when Phil brought them to the area of the message to find it gone like it was never there and all his proof gone. This sent Phil into a minor panic that he tried to brush off, even though booth Fit and Pac believed Phil had seen something.
To get his mind off that, Phil joined Pac and Fit's dungeon crawl, during which he lost his shield, before the group separated after completing the odd triple dungeon with Phil exploring a bit to find materially to replace his shield, followed by minime item collection, a brief dungeon raid, raiding egg backpacks to get the means to get a minime item (a type of mushroom), before he goes hole, does a brief check of stops the eggs loved, ended up back at the dream spot, before going home and getting off.
Also, on the 29th, two messages's appeared on the QSMP Twitter involving the 4th, one involves the train station, one seems to involve Cheyanne.
No clue what it means, other then something happening November 4th.
Good night all.

For this Wednesday you all are getting a little something from Sabrina and Savannah (cute as hell) and more of John slowly losing his mind. Then as a bonus because I'm so excited for her: a sneak peek into a new Peggie OC (or is she a Peggie): Mercedes "Mercy" Sibley. Wishing Jacob good luck with that one.
Tumblr media
"Rin-Rin, did you see the butterfly! It was so pretty! Not black, though.", Savannah ran over to her, sitting down on the blanket and leaning her head on Sabrina's shoulder, "Ah, I forgot to tell you, John asked me about butterflies?" "He did?" Not giving up on your quest at unraveling all my secrets, eh, Seed? She wasn't too surprised, he was set on figuring as much as possible about her and her sister probably seemed like the path of least resistance when it comes to getting information, especially when she herself refused to share anything. Savannah nodded, "Why does your sister like butterflies?", she tried mimicking John's voice, making Sabrina laugh. "What did you tell him?" "To ask you, silly. I lied that I don't know.", her sister giggled like she had done something quite devious. "You know what I usually say about lying, Sav. But this time… it was the right call." She sighed, "I know. I won't do it all the time like mom, don't worry." "I know, pumpkin. Did he ask anything else?" Savannah titled her head, lips pursed in thought, no doubt quickly going over all her conversations with John since meeting him days back. "We just talked about random stuff, Rin-Rin. But he did ask about uncle Cal…" Of course, can you get more predictable? "What did he want to know about him?" Her sister gave her an amused look, "He asked if he came over a lot, and if he was your boyfriend." "Oh my god. He did not.", Sabrina covered her face with her hands as she took a deep breath. "He did. I told him uncle Cal used to come over for breakfast sometimes, that he brought me things,", she shrugged, "but I have no clue if he is your boyfriend." "And?" Savannah laughed, "I asked him why he wants to know and if he likes you?" "Savannah Mae!" "And he got really quiet. Oh, it was very funny.", a mischievous smile appeared on her face at the memory.
Sabrina shook her head, "What am I going to do with you.", then her tone grew serious, "If he asks anything else that seems weird, you just tell him to talk to me instead, okay? "I don't know, John. Ask her yourself." Okay?" "Of course, Rin-Rin.", her sister's narrowed in curiosity, "Do you like him?", she bumped her shoulder, "It's okay if you like him, even if he's a Peggie." Sabrina shook her head quickly, "It's nothing like that, Sav. He's a friend like uncle Cal, okay?" "Okay.", came out as a reply, then she added, "But… I think he likes yoooouuu." Savannah sign-songed the last part as she jumped back to her feet, her attention grabbed by another butterfly in the distance. Since finding out about what the beautiful insects meant to her, her sister had made it her neverending mission to find a black butterfly. Sabrina's eyes shifted to the ranch, coming to rest on John as he leaned on the balcony's railing. She could sense another one of his intense stares pointed her way. She guessed he must have come out while she wasn't paying attention, too engrossed in the conversation with Savannah. The second their eyes met, a familiar pull stirred in her even from the distance. It was a harsh reminder how much of a lie it was to call whatever happening between them "nothing". He held her gaze for what felt like eternity before turning around and disappearing back inside his room.

John closed yet another notebook, releasing a huff as he put it on top of the pile of finished ones. His frustration was festering more and more at the fact it had been hours of non-stop reading through her notes and so far he hadn't come across anything mentioning him. The whole afternoon he had fought temptation to drop what he was doing and join her outside, the way she stared at him when he allowed himself a brief look, didn't help matters. He was holding himself back from storming out and finding her, demanding to tell him about the visions, to confess if she even had them written down at all. Doubt was creeping in. Are you having a laugh at my expense, Deputy? Is that it? If she in fact hadn't noted anything related to him down, it meant she held all her secrets close, locked away in her mind. He was good at getting those out of people, he would learn everything no matter the way. In attempt to keep his head straight he had slipped back into avoiding her, he couldn't imagine going down for dinner and having to sit across from her… knowing what that would cost him, how it would chip away at his facade. Hours back Savannah cheerfully had brought him food, patting his shoulder as she said, "You're working hard, John, but you also gotta eat.", then she had rushed back out before he could even respond. The house was now quiet, the little one had gone to bed, and he found himself with another situation on his hands. It started with Sabrina's footsteps carrying past his room and fading away until the exterior door opened and shut. Minutes passed in silence, then he heard it, the faint strumming of a guitar, finding a way inside even with his windows closed, then a voice joined. Even muffled it was so melodic, beguiling him to go outside, to stand on the balcony and listen. No. Focus. John didn't give into the urge, knowing if he did, he won't be able to stay upstairs just listening, that he'd end up seeking her presense, and her singing would no doubt push him over the edge. The Project needed him. He had to ensure Calahan Hartley wouldn't destroy everything he had built. He had to make Joseph proud.

Mercy. She hated the meek woman she had to pretend to be, but she was stuck in that life, a Sunk Cost Fallacy of sorts, and she had promised herself she would get revenge no matter the means. When she officially entered the Whitetails, mindlessly following the route marked for her on a worn-out map while a non-cult song played queitly on the radio in the background, she couldn't help but dread the reaction the oldest Seed would have to her arrival. Where Joseph fully bought her lost lamb act and John always managed to force a smile her way no matter how troubling or ingenuine it seemed, while Faith eyed her with slight wary, to the Father's dismay Jacob did his hardest to make it known he disliked his protégé. It wasn't that Mercedes was desperate for the man's approval, it was more the feeling he was seeing through her facade that worried her, but she told herself if that was the case, he would have already said something to Joseph by then.
[...]
Hours later Mercedes found herself parking the car in front of the iron gates of St. Francis Veteran Center and as soon as she stepped a foot past them, one of Jacob's men was rushing at her. "Oh, my,", she feigned a flich at the sight of his weapon, "Didn't the Father warn you I would be arriving?" "He did.", the Chosen reached a hand to her, "Name's Isaac." "Mercy." "Brother Jacob is away at the moment." Mercedes smiled at him and squared her shoulders, "Is this his way of trying to get rid of me without even seeing me? Joseph sent me, so I'm not going anywhere." "He truly is away, sister.", Isaac said with a frown as he rubbed his neck, then muttered, "He knows nothing of your arrival, actually." Well, that should be fun. "Where should I wait for him then?", she asked and took a step around the man, making him block her path again. "Uh,", he stuttered out, looking uncertain, his demeanor telling her she was the last person he wanted to deal with, especially with his boss being unaware of her visit, "His office?" It came out as a question, as if he expected her to bark an order at him. "That would be just fine, thank you.", when he didn't move, she added, "Lead the way, Isaac." That finally snapped the poor guy back into action and he strode off towards the main entrance of the old yellow building, forcing Mercedes to pick up her pace, too. She tried to ignore the cages upon cages on each side of the path. A naive part of her wanted to believe Jacob was keeping wild animals in there, but reality was a bitch. Sunken faces stared back at her paired with the occasional faint plea for help. People. I'm sorry. The sight was a harsh reminder why the simple con job of getting back what Joseph had stolen from her only family had turned into so much more. Why she had given up on her old life and remained undercover for almost 388 days. Her hands gripped her dress in desperation the same way so many bloody hands were holding onto the bars. I will get you all out. Somehow. Just not today.
Isaac held the door open for her, letting her enter the decrepit former hospital first, then followed behind. "We don't get many visitors here.", he explained and took the lead again, "So you're bound to get strange looks from people." The hallways all looked similar and she wondered if his men felt like rats in a maze anytime they navigated the building. Mercedes let out a small laugh, "That's okay." Eventually he stopped in front of a door and gestured inside as he unlocked it, "I'm leaving you in here, sister. Can I trust you won't wander the building if I don't lock you in." She nodded, "Nothing to worry about here, Isaac." He gave her a relieved smile and scrambled to take his leave, "I will have someone bring you a glass of water in a few." Isaac rushed out before she could even mutter a thank you. "Talk about keeping your men on edge.", she said under her breath and shifted her eyes to the room, taking a couple of cautious steps further in. A series of small windows overlooked the fence around the hospital and the vast woods behind it that gave off a false sense of freedom if you only manage to climb over the rusty bars. If even a small portion of what she had heard about Jacob's experiments was true, once you had entered the Vet Center, your free will would be left at the door. His office was sparsely furnished from a worn-out couch, a small bookcase and old desk overflowing with documents with a single chair behind it, to the maps hanging on the walls together with a bloodred poster of him. In it Jacob was pointing with a smug look on his face with "Only You." stamped at the bottom. She ran her hands over her dress out of habit, smoothing out wrinkles that weren't even there while she stared back at the propaganda, wondering if that was the only expression he could ever muster aside from the one of hatred he would always send her way. Well, the feeling is mutual, asshole. Mercedes smiled at the thought, then frowned at how she wasn't able to freely express her dislike like he was. 388 days she wished she could finally go back to her old self and be free of pretending for a short while until the next job would come around and she would slip into a new role. 388 days she dreamed of finally being free of the Seeds. 388 days where she hoped tomorrow would offer her a chance to leave the Project behind her for good.

Study Buddies
Pairing: Satan x GN!MC
Summary: He was the Avatar of Wrath, destruction and rage his moniker, he wasn't suppose to love, or even recieve something as beautiful as it.
Adult content, read at your own risk. Not beta read.
     It had started innocently enough.
Just a silly way for Satan to ensure you would study. Motivate you to actually put the effort in. You were as bright as the human realm sun, but you just needed that extra push to prove it to everyone, mostly yourself.
He had written the answers in ink on random parts of himself. The first time, he used his hands and feet, even his forearms.
Being around you was easy. To be afforded to lower his shield, to be silly with someone... If something that made you have a good time and laugh aided your study, he was all in.
Now though...now you were tested as they were. No more training wheels and you had definitely gotten nervous. The self doubt swirling around your mind that you might not be smart enough to keep up.
Satan would not fail you in your quest for good grades and respect. He would rub it in Lucifers face everyday as well.
Atleast, that's how he remembers it. Totally not being dictated by his cock and lesser brain waves to get naked in front of you. To see your flushed face shyly whisper an answer just so you could catch a glimpse of him.
He wasn't oblivious. He could tell you wanted him. The ways you would shift your thighs, bite your cheek or just completely look away at times... you wanted his cock like a horny teenager.
He wanted nothing more than to make that dream a reality.
Perhaps that was why he had written a long drawn out explanation upside down and the correct way to read, the smallest font he could manage between his Adonis belt. All in an effort to get your cute little face next to his cock. He even implemented a system for you. Every time you were to get an answer wrong, you would need to removing a piece of clothing for him to keep, permanently. People would ask questions when you couldn't find a whole school outfit more than once... so you would be forced to do your best. Even if you were to fail a question, he would just have to make sure you remembered what the answer was and associate it with his body.
Such an innocent quest, corrupted to fulfill sexual desire.
You only had undergarments on at this point, blushing to no end as he sat topless, pants riding low on his hips, allowing you to see the elastic band of his briefs.
He could see the wet spot in your underwear that you tried very hard to conceal. Your naked thighs rubbing as you tried to hide your small pants.
He wasn't in much better shape either. His cock straining against his pants as he fought the urge rip them off and bend you over his desk. You were so close, so fuckable. It was maddening.
He would cum inside of you. Shoot his seed to the depths of your body as you screamed his name. He would fuck you until his seed wept from your tight little hole as he took his pleasure.
The sexual tension in the room would break soon. There was no other way this would end. He understood the hesitancy. Who ever made the first move would send them farther into a relationship with the other. As to what the outcome would be, you both were unsure. All he knew is that after he knew your flesh personally, he would be enchanted to a point you would not lay with another. It would throw him into a fit of rage unlike any other. He knew himself well enough to be honest about that fact. It was dangerous territory for those who would get to chummy with you.
Perhaps if you knew of his love and how fiercely it burnt in his heart for you, perhaps you would run away screaming. He knew he wasn't the easiest to deal with sometimes. Even a down right danger sometimes.
You could feel Satan's emerald eyes devouring your body. You wanted nothing more than to try and tempt him. To just spread your legs, remove your hands and beg him to fuck the answer into you.
He wanted it. The length of his cock making a tent in his lap was all the proof you needed. You wanted him just as bad... but going that direction would lead to unstable waters. Would it just be study buddies with benefits? Dating? A one time thing?
It wouldn't matter to you though. Even if it only happened once, it would be a memory you would use to satisfy yourself for years to come.
"Last question, Mc." Satan panted as he gripped the edge of his reading chair. "It's the hardest question on the exam. Don't worry if you get it wrong. I'll be sure to cheer you up after." His smirk making your face hot as you looked away.
No matter what the question was, you weren't going to answer it correctly. You wanted to see what he did to cheer you up now.
He asked the question, you answered with a random Devildom celebrity name.
"Get on your knees, Mc." His voice was strained, laced with a growl. Doing as told you landed at his feet faster that you would ever like to admit. The bruise on your knees would be proof of your desperation. "Read it nice and loud. If you fail annunciation, I'll make you start over." He lifted his hips, slipping his pants and briefs down.
Moving forward slowly, you looked up to him as small pants left your lips, causing him to shiver as your warm breath rolled across his skin. His cock barely concealed, just a mere few inches from slapping you in the throat as he listened to you try so hard to read. "Start over, Mc. You can't stutter this incantation." He wasn't sure when, but his hand had slipped into your hair. Tugging lightly he made sure your eyes were focused on his face. "If you say it properly, I'll make sure a good student receives their dues."
You couldn't help but bite your bottom lip as a whine escaped you. Satan was torturing you! Teasing you, like he held all the power. The sad part was, he did. If this man before you asked you to stick your hand in an open flame as a sign of devotion, you probably would. Just for the chance to even see him naked. You knew it was pathetic, but you could help it. You loved the fifth born.
As soon as the thought crossed your mind, you froze.
     Love.
"Mc?" Satan pulled his hips away and released your hair. The shift of your features, coupled with how you just froze so perfectly in place. It was a look he had seen before. Fear. Both of his hands cupped your face as he tried his best to regain control of his body. It could wait. He could find his release later. "I'm sorry if I pushed this too far. I-"
"I think I'm in love with you."
This had to be a fantasy. Maybe he had passed out after your study session, left with thoughts of you and wishes he knew may never come true. He was the Avatar of Wrath. Destruction and rage, he wasn't suppose to love, or even recieve something as beautiful as it.
His shocked eyes pulled you from your stupor. Your outburst had made him uncomfortable. So much so he had even pulled away and his eyes spoke volumes to the words you had let slip as you realized it was more than mere pysical attraction to the blonde.
Dream or not, his heart beat was filling his ears. There were always moments in his books, where one choice shaped the rest of the people lives. He had read so many books, read so many outcomes of various situations...
He knew if he didn't try, he would regret it forever. Dream or reality, if he couldn't feel your lips and hold you at night, he would surely be lost to an unimaginable grief deep in his chest.
Satan's moves had been quick, pulling you up onto your knees from your sitting position as he closed the gap between the two of you with his lips meeting yours.
Be it fantasy or reality, he would indulge. Give himself this small moment and keep it close to his heart that felt it would beat from his chest. Kicking the chair away, he too rested on his knees in front of you as he continued to taste your soft lips, finger tips tracing gently down your sides until they reached your underwear. Hooking his fingers in the sides, he softly pulled them down your thighs and swallowed your moans.
You've never sounded better to him than this moment. Thoughts of how he could make your voice beg and cry out spurring him to gently touch your sex as his cock continued to throb and twitch heavily in his pants.
     "Satan..."
Your voice caused him to shiver as his lips kitchen onto your neck. Hand gently massaging you as he listened to you being built up by his actions. Your pants and soft moans, coupled by your thighs shaking, he could tell. Your release was so close, and it was all because of him.
Pulling his hands away, he couldn't help but smirk as his hands undid his pants, finally freeing his erection as you whined in protest. "Patience, kitten. I'll give you everything you need."
He didn't expect your body to spasm and your hand to grip the back of his neck so hard as your free hand scrapped down his back. Head resting on his shoulder as you flushed, trying your best not to come undone so quickly infront of him.
You hadn't expected the fourth born to push you back so roughly against the floor, his body over yours as his pants hung around his thighs. His cock rubbing at your sensitive entrance as he did his best not to bite you too roughly. "I think it's time I make my Kitten pur."
Fuck. You felt like non other. Tight, warm, holding him like your life depended on it. Nails scratching his back as he drew tears from your eyes begging him to go faster, to go deeper. Wiggling against him lost to your bodies lust as you desperately tried to take more of him. "Such a naughty Kitten. Cumming just from my words, yet you still aren't listening. Patience." He bit down roughly on your neck.
The small whimper falling from your lips as your nails dug into his back made him shiver. He wanted to take you slowly. Hold you softly and worship you, but you were making it so difficult.
Then he heard it. His demise. A needy sounding meow. Your eyes brimming over with tears of desperation as you did your best to push more of him into yourself.
Any sanity or hope of soft and slow had perished in that moment.
His hips snapped forward, the cry from beneath him made him smirk. You were so desperate and needy. Begging and even meowing like a pet for him. His nails dug into the floor beside your head as he snapped his hips as fast as his possibly could, making sure all of his cock was seated inside of you before hastily pulling out and slamming back into you. Your body rocking harshly under him as you started to cry out, another orgasm close to taking you over. "Who do you belong to?" His hand came down roughly on your ass as his pace increased further still.
"You! You, you, you, Satan! I'm your s-slutty little kitty!"
Fuck, he almost came inside of you right then. Hands moving to your hips, he pulled you to him tightly as your body remained on the floor, back arched as he sat up on his knees, fucking you like a man crazed and your body being the only cure.
"I'm yours, please, Satan!" You begged, you needed him to cum inside of you, to feel his warmth spread so deep were no other would ever touch. To hear him call you such a good Kitten. You couldn't help you body was so needy for him, begging for more released and his seed. When his had moved to fuck you faster, his cock delving deeper into your hole, you couldn't help but cum. His rugged voice calling you such sweet names as he continued to use your body on made you cum harder.
"Mine. My slutty little kitten, all mine." His growl in your ear and against your neck as he pulled you up into his lap, still thrusting into you from underneath you. "Say it."
"I'm your slutty little Kitten. Yours. Use me, Satan. C-cum inside your pretty little kitty, master."
One more breathy meow was all that it took. His hips stuttering as his continued to thrust into you, the feel of your nails dragging on his back as you begged for your master to satiate your needy hole. His release shaking his body as he growled, holding your hips tightly, not allowing you to move. You would take all of him, every drop of his seed, every bite, every smack to your ass. You would have all of him in this moment.
When his hips finally came to a stand still, he kept himself seated inside of your hole. Your pants heavy in his ears as he held you to his chest.
"I meant every word, Mc." His own voice rough while trying to breath more of your scent in. "You're mine. From now until the end of time. I'll kill anyone you ever try to love or lay with. I can't allow it. I know how you feel. How you sound begging me to fuck you harder. I won't allow anyone else to hear these sounds from you."
He had expected you to run screaming for the hills after the words left his mouth, instead you gave a happy hum as you traced random patterns on his chest. "That sounds perfect."
"I love you, Mc." His voice was quiet as his arms snaked around your body to hold you tighter and placed a small kiss to your hairline as he rested his chin on top of your head.
      "I love you, Satan."
Just tagging the obvious Satan hoes I know. XD

Not to get into a mood, but if we ever get winds, I'm prepared for people to complain about Bran's story being boring and then making everything about his character arc connected to other characters.
Intresting dynamic between him and Bloodraven. Well, here's how Bloodraven is actually connected to this character I love
Cool magic stuff, well, here's how my fave can actually do that magic as well.
The interesting connection between Bran and the Others, well here's how it's a setup for the connection that actually matters between the others and my favourite character.
people Already do that, i've seen people say bloodraven is in the story not to be an evil mentor to bran, or a sort of "eat the pomegranite seeds/the weirwood sap bran, it's just a litle bite it won't take over your mind or anything" type of temptation, but there to help dany "slay the lie" that is aegon vi and kill the last of the blackfyre pretenders which is like. bro, i know he's involved with the blackfyres a lot but they specifically made HIM be the blackwood aka the one tied to the old gods/weirwood magic and not bitterstell for a reason and it's so he can also be involved in that story line. br doesn't begin and end with targs!
same with the others, there's all this really clear set up that bran is going to be instrumental in the fight with the others, he is Literally on a quest that is going to lead him to why they exist and why the Long Night happens except no actually the heroes are going to be three heads of the dragon tyrion, dany, and jon and they're going to go north as north goes and destroy the heart of winter while bran is like. idk eavesdropping through a random crow or something.
already prepared for that because it already happens tbh and i can't wait to ignore all of their opinions and just focus on my magical tree wizard son!

Disclaimer: I just started Genshin Impact so I'm not familiar with every piece of lore. So this isn't going to cover everything about The Travelers and Venti's relationship. But I wanted to point out some very interesting details I've picked up on so far:
1.) "Beloved of the Anemo Archon" Achievement.
Beloved is a very interesting choice here. While beloved isn't exclusively romantic, it is often used in a romantic context. Beloved indicates that someone is deeply loved... and having the traveler sit in the hand of the statue is a really interesting choice.
2.) "The Outlander who caught the wind". Kind of losing my mind over this because it implies that The Traveler caught the god of Anemo - who is also the God of Freedom.
3.) Venti's association with birds [teaching the first birds that they only needed courage to fly] and the Travelers being winged beings who lost their powers. His association with birds is also consistent with his relationship with Xiao - as Xiao is based on the Golden-Winged Great Peng [which is a being that looks like a half man/half bird. But in Genshin Impact, Xiao is represented as a bird, rather than the bird/man hybrid depiction of the Golden-Winged Great Peng.]
Article about Xiao: here
4.) The very, very interesting pattern of having the Traveler be saved by anemo users during the final moments of major story arcs.
Xiao: saves the traveler from falling to their death. [ And Xiao sacrifices sacrifice himself to save the traveler and their friends in "At Tunnels End".]
Kazuha: saves the Traveler from getting killed by The Raiden Shogun.
The Wanderer: saves the traveler from getting beamed by the Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom.
"May the wind protect you" indeed...
5.) Windwheel Asters, which are used to level up the Traveler, say:
"A plant that adores the wind. To the proud children of the wind, or the citizens of Mondstadt, the Windwheel Asters are "the visible winds".
Having Windwheel Asters be one of the materials to ascend the traveler is interesting... because the ascension materials didn't have to include this flower. It could have even been some made up flower related to the stars. Like a "Star Flower" or something... but it's a flower that "adores the wind"... Also this material could have been any random material.
6.) Venti's very suspicious piece of dialogue "Ah, Traveler! We meet again. What? You don't remember me? Aha, Well allow me to join you on your quest once again. I must see to it that the bards of the world tell the Travelers tale."
Ontop of this, Venti's Windblume poem implies a connection to the Traveler. The Windblume poem is about the Traveler because in the Chinese script "you" and "your" change depending on who you pick. Since Archons can enter peoples dreams and Venti went to sleep for a period of time - it's possible he could have met the Traveler while they were sleeping. And he kept them company during their 500 year sleep - a sleep which was implied to be full of nightmares in the trailer for the beta version of the game [which is voiced over by Venti jsyk].
The reason why I think he met the Traveler in their dreams is because of this line in Ventis Windblume poem:
Who was it that embraced your noble soul in dreams deep
Here's the full Windblume poem:
"Who was it that stroked your bloodied, determined visage By stream flowing small By boulder standing large Who was it that embraced your weary yet noble soul in dreams deep In skies soaring Dear friend I am leading you by the hand Into the night where lanterns shine bright To tell you a tale of freedom and dreams The tale of where this festival begins.”
I highlighted the "noble soul" part because of the description of the Anemo Archon statues:
A monumental stone statue that watches over Mondstadt. Legends say that it was sculpted in the image of the Anemo Archon. "Seeds brought by the wind will grow over time." The statue silently anticipates the arrival of a noble soul to arrive, while thousand winds of time will soon unfold a new story...
[Jsyk you get the "Beloved of the Anemo Archon" trophy by sitting on the hands of the Statue of Barbatos in Mondstadt.]
This is extra interesting when we take into account Venti's close association with The God of time and his roll of being the wind that brings the "seeds" to where they're meant to be. It's obvious that Venti is guiding the traveler to some kind of end goal we're not aware of. And thematically, he's protecting them even when he's not directly involved in their conflict through Anemo users.
Venti also says: "There is not a single song I do not know, whether it be the past, present, or future"
I'm not sure if this is supposed to mean he is ALSO the God of Time - like when "The Anemo Archon" goes to "sleep", "The God of Time" awakens. Or if Venti is given visions by the God of Time to carry out certain events - to be the wind that delivers the seeds to where they're meant to be. But the point is is that he obviously knows future events and he's intentionally keeping them from The Traveler, while guiding them along a certain path. He's not keeping secrets from The Traveler to be malicious, but to make sure they take a certain path to a specific end goal.
And again, he's also been waiting for them to come to Teyvat for an untold amount of time.
7.) When Venti is describing what a Windblume can mean the camera switches to Ventis POV, then it pans over to the Traveler when he says "flowers of love". This is very suspicious because the camera didn't need to pan over to the traveler at all nor did we need a perspective shift to begin with... but it does when Venti says "flowers of love"... how am I not supposed to interpret that as him being romantically interested in the traveler?
Yeah. "love" - at least in english - can mean any kind of love, but it's the choice to have the camera shift to Venti's perspective, then have the camera pan over to the traveler [while still in Venti's POV] as he's saying "flowers of love" is what has me thinking "love" is supposed to mean romantic love in this situation.
8.) Venti and the Traveler missing someone who shares the same face and grieving a time they can't return to.
9.) Traveler to Venti: "Your eyes are the color of the sky in my homeland"
10.) Venti calling the Traveler "My warrior". Again, this is really interesting to me because Venti has been waiting for the traveler to come to Teyvat. He needs the Traveler to be his warrior so that some kind of end goal can be obtained.
But honestly... his teapot dialogue is very sweet.

have started a new playthrough of breath of the wild with the intention of practicing the combat techniques, which i am quite bad at. (look, shield surfing and flurry rushes both require using three of the control inputs at once, i know i have ten fingers but i was never very good at playing chords on the piano either)
i don't know how far i'll get on any of these goals, but i'm also sort of vaguely considering:
* 100% run? have never finished one. there's at least one korok (near the akkala tech lab, uphill boulder golf with a lynel in the middle of the course) that i'm genuinely just not sure i can complete. i want to do this part glitchless if at all, so no seed duping allowed.
* clear all enemies no blood moon run? this is technically possible, although the timing to get the blood moon shrine to spawn without actually respawning enemies is quite tricky. there's a save-reload exploit that lets you delay the blood moon for a full cycle at a time, which would be pretty necessary for some of the night quests to be completable. my main interest in trying this is to force me to actually fight more enemies (and therefore get better at the combat) rather than rely totally on sneaking around and avoiding them. also to make weapons rarer and therefore more valuable/exciting to find, because in a normal playthrough i usually get overloaded on high tier weapons pretty quickly, especially once i get woodland tower with the respawning royal claymore. it's not actually possible to completely clear the map, because there will always be random spawns, like nighttime stalkoblins, or yiga after you defeat master kohga, but i feel like it'd be pretty entertaining to just be waltzing around past enemy camps you cleared and having them continue to have been cleared.
* all chests run? this would not be a true 100% objective because i have no interest at all in the glitching required to get "impossible" chests. perhaps "poke my nose into every nook and cranny" run would be more accurate -- there are so many tiny hidden things in BotW that even people who've spent thousands of hours in the game have never seen. this kind of goes hand in hand with the no blood moon run, because i'll definitely run out of hero's path time long before i finish any such playthrough, so the main way to tell if i've already been somewhere (other than my own memory, which *is* pretty good for BotW locations because the geology is so realistic it feels like an actual landscape and sticks in my memory the same way) will be if i already killed off the enemies there.
* no guides run. at least until like 99% completion or so. i've been playing pokemon violet with a collectibles map constantly open, which is about the only way i can enjoy that game because the geology/geography is just impossible for me, and i have played BotW the same way on other saves, but... hyrule feels, idk, homey enough? it already lives in my bones enough that i can, and want to, run around it like a real place and get to know every corner. like i did with my childhood hometown, and have not had the spoons to do irl since. i'll definitely make a great deal of use of the sheikah sensor (i've done all shrines before -- on the switch lite, which is a *trip* for motion controls shrines) and any other detection things like the korok mask, any ingame method i'm granted to find the collectibles.
* no amiibo run? this is more practicality because i left my botw amiibos at leia's. but also they always feel a little game-breaky, not even so much with the exclusive drops as just with the extra resources you get early -- i don't even remember most of the places you can find safflina in the game, just because i always get so much from zelda amiibos if i'm scanning them daily, for instance.
i'm playing on my switch lite again because the regular size switch really kills my hands in handheld mode. my beat-the-game save is also on the switch lite and i didn't want to overwrite it so i made a secondary profile. so far i have done the magnesis shrine (failed deeply at using the metal boxes in the shrine to bop the guardian on the head, which will kill it if you do it right but you have to either use motion controls to fling it down or get the guardian to stand under the box while you drop it from a great height) and almost shot king rhoam for a squirrel because he was wandering around in the forest (as the old hermit, of course) and i didn't know he could spawn there if you dick around long enough before completing the plateau. so i'm already discovering things! ^_^
(the main issue with attempting a no blood moon run is that i am absent minded and usually fail to notice it's a blood moon night until it drops the cutscene on me. that will probably be the major obstacle there. i don't expect to run completely out of weapons -- at minimum i can always get more yiga gear, champion gear, and once i have the master sword it recharges. i've never attempted trial of the sword, idk if i will? certainly not until i'm much more confident with my combat techniques)
one of my favorite things about playing video games is that there's always an intended way for you to solve whatever puzzle is presented to you. in games where the intended way is the only possible way, i get pretty frustrated, because i do not have the 30+ years of gaming history knowledge that most games assume -- i got my first controller in 2021 (for PC, so as to decide if i even wanted to get my first console, the switch, which i also did in 2021). but botw is so committed to the open-world creativity thing that there are usually a bunch of different ways to solve the puzzles -- for instance, there are many "stand on this switch and the door opens, now find something to put on the switch and hold it down so you can go through the door" puzzles, and there's always something provided like a barrel or a chest to put on the switch, but on many of them you can also use the stasis rune or 1-3 campfires (which are weirdly heavy) to hold the switch down. so it feels... idk how to articulate this... when i know i *can* just use stasis or a campfire, it's more fun and less frustrating to try to figure out what the game devs were thinking, what the intended method is and especially how they signposted it. (i have watched so many botw streams just trying to get a feel for how the devs handle signposting, because i don't have much of that assumed gaming background -- mainly mass effect trilogy, which handled signposting and loot placement extremely differently in each game -- and i'm not naturally very observant. leia says i'm high INT/low WIS, and that definitely applies to my irl perception score too :P another reason to try for an all chests type of run. getting in the habit of Perceiving things more)
(mass effect 1 is why i even bought botw though. i absolutely love the open world aspects of dicking around on the uncharted planets, except when i trip over thresher maws, so i was like "people are calling this the best open world game ever? i will Investigate" and they were correct)
(also i am very impressed that moldugas are not thresher maws. so damn many things copy dune and have their desert sand burrowing giant enemy be sandworms, complete with the blue tongues, which i always think of as thresher maws because i encountered those way before dune. moldugas are completely unlike thresher maws except for the burrowing and popping up at you. i genuinely can't figure out if there's any rl critter they're supposed to resemble, but by god they're not fucking sandworms)

ASOIAF fandom is so hilarious to observe on a sociological level because why are there countless stans who have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the entire history of Westeros but cannot pick up the most obvious themes and foreshadowing. There are users who can tell me what the Red Keep chimney sweep overheard Maegor saying to one of his 977578 wives on a random Tuesday in 109 A.C. word for word, but does not believe that there is any foreshadowing for Dark Dany, Dany won't burn KL, and even if she does burn KL Martin won't frame it as a bad thing because things like mass casualties happen in war all the time.
I'm sorry but this is insane dfndfndfndfns like it's crazy? It's the most 'cannot see the forest for the trees' fandom I have ever experienced and it's honestly just baffling to witness.
This is a very interesting observation and I think part of the reasoning is certainly rose-coloured glasses & bias for one's favourite character(s). But, IMO, this environment has also festered in the last 12+ years since the publishing of ADWD because people are going nuts with such a large gap between books.
The quandary is that, despite the staunch and sometimes aggressive discourse on the matter, the series has been left in such a spot that really lends itself to various, sometimes contradictory, interpretations (if one is willing to give grace to others and not automatically assume everyone else is shortsighted or peace spoilers). No one likes hearing this because they all have put so much stock into being right by now,* but the truth is that, if you want to mount an argument for Saviour Dany, you can cherry pick some elements from the text, such as Dany's empathy for enslaved people, her emotional thought process, her striving to be kind and just etc - all of which are true enough, because Daenaerys is, thankfully, a well-crafted character and not a two-dimensional white girl pastiche. Likewise, if you're a Dark!Dany belieber (sic) like myself, you're going to be drawn to other recurring motifs in her story, such as her entitlement to a throne that doesn't "belong" to her, her unwillingness to examine her family's problematic past and history with violence, her eagerness to employ that violence in her quest for queenship, her equating social liberation with her simultaneously being at the top of the pyramid, her disinterest in what the people of Westeros actually want, her belief that her decisions are always correct and morally righteous etc.
So, to expand on this example further, could someone really craft a further two books where Daenerys turns into this benevolent queen who comes to be loved by the people of Westeros for selflessly saving them from the ice monsters? Of course someone could, anyone can do anything. Would it be a good story? LOL. Would it be in line with the themes already developed? Double LOL. ASOIAF could also turn out to be a bad story, you know! There's always that possibility. IMO the seeds for her downfall are already there, but the truth is that they're not exceptionally overt for a lot of readers and so they find them hard to accept. If evil why friend-shaped etc.
If everything had gone to plan, these insane debates would not have had time to get so out of hand, because we would have had TWOW published 5-6 years ago and things would have become clearer by now. It's just that GRRM left us off in murky waters, with a text that's ambiguous enough in some places and a fandom that likes to one up each other and is bored enough to seek entertainment in trench wars & endless arguing. And Dany is just one point of contention, you have people out there fighting for their lives about Sansa, about whether Young Gryff is Rhaegar's son or not, about Stannis being the proper ruler for Westeros etc. Something that irks me is how a lot of these fans become so belligerent and can't just accept that sometimes the text we have so far is just vague! Because the story is unfinished! Sometimes it's really not just because everyone else is stupid or racist or misogynist, the text really IS lacking, with two full books missing.
*We also live in rather peculiar times, socially-wise, with the advent of content creators that have literally gone on to make an entire livelihood out of commenting on ASOIAF and presenting theories. Since people are so bored and desperate for some kind of content, they flock to these BNFs and that contributes to the popular interpretations being recycled. When you quit your day job to do this full-time, you kind of become dependent on your audience and feel the need to tell them what they want to hear because otherwise your paycheck is affected. And no one is really eager to forgo paying next month's rent because of something silly like criticising Dany online. This, in turn, influences new fans coming in and searching for information on their favourite characters, so when they encounter the popular talking points for years, of course they're going to take it at face value, because so many people can't be wrong, right?

okay so first this seed gives me, as directions, "north of the ruin of house isner"
now it's giving me "north of some flattened remains"
i'm honestly expecting a random village quest to be like "yeah we need you to find our sacred bronze dagger, it's somewhere north of stopsvalinn"
"it's terribly important that we discover the location of this hidden ruin! we're not sure where it is, somewhere north of where kindrish ended up, here let me mark that on your map for you"
