I was rewatching CW Clone Cadet arc (Domino Squad/Rishi Moon/Attack on Kamino) and thought I’d share some of my Rancor Battalion headcanons (I’ve been working on my Halloween costume and haven’t had the time to work on any fics—sorry)

*All clones are alive and live happily here*

Warnings—Not a fic, headcanons for Rancor Battalion, spoilers for CW, part 1?

Members—Havoc, Blitz, Colt, Hammer

—Colt is the oldest followed by Blitz then Hammer and finally Havoc

—They all have a ❤️MOM tattoo on their shoulder/biceps in honor of Master Shaak Ti, since they all view her as their ‘mom’

—BFFs with 99 obviously

—Defended 99 from Brick the bounty hunter guy who trained Domino Squad

—When 99 says “I’m a soldier! Like you!” I wholly believe that Rancor Battalion taught him all the classic soldier-y things like disarming a bomb, learning ship specs, and how to shoot. I can just see Colt adjusting 99’s grip and aim while Hammer gives advice on his stance. Havoc shares helpful advice about the recoil and safety while Blitz looks on silently with a ‘proud older brother’ look.

—Because Rancor Battalion trains cadets in all stages, if they have a problem, they go to 99, who gives Uncle Iroh-advice lol

—Colt is the squad leader. Strong, slightly assertive type that follows the rules

—Blitz is the medic. Quiet, smart and a gentle soul

—Hammer is the weapons expert. Hammer is a secret artist. Like this man can draw! Think Meelo from Legend of Korra lol

—Havoc is the pilot and the squad joker/fun-loving one

—Havoc is an animal lover and loves hanging with Sergeant Hound and Grizzer, Hound’s tracking massiff

—Blitz loves plants and gardening, especially when it comes to vegetation with medicinal properties

—You wouldn’t know it but Colt’s superstitious

—No one believes Havoc, Hammer or Blitz when they explain why Colt avoids stepping on lines/cracks between floor plates, and keeps a 7-leaf clover Blitz grew in one of his utility belt pockets. Only Shaak Ti knows/believes them.

—They’re all great with the young cadets (the kids)

—Preferring to keep to their squad, they often have 99 join them whenever they have free time/during meals

—All of them are fiercely protective of Shaak Ti and 99.

—They once heard Lama Su speak ill of Shaak Ti and the Jedi. They refused to take orders from him for weeks until they all got court marshaled and Shaak Ti had a talk with them.

—They also overheard Lama Su and Nala Se discuss whether or not to terminate 99 and boy it was a good thing Shaak Ti was there when they confronted the Kaminoans. Cuz they were all ready to kill Lama Su and Nala Se. Shaak Ti talked with them, learned what was going to happen and ordered that 99 be kept.

—*Big bro mode* activates any time a clone makes fun of 99.

—*Big bro mode* also activates any time Shaak Ti brings a jedi youngling/padawan to observe and train a bit. They love all ‘little jedi babies’.

—They also love getting together with Delta Squad for drinks (is the clone bar called 79’s? For some reason I thought that’s the name)

—The kid cadets all aspire ‘to be like Rancor Battalion’

I think that’s all I can think of for now, but am definitely wanting to continue. I also have HCs for the 501st boys, the 212th boys, Delta Squad, Bad Batch, 99, Jango/Boba/Omega, the Wolffepack and a few specific clones like Monnk and Bly.

I’m almost done with my Halloween costume and only have a few accessory pieces to sew. I’m not a seamstress or anything (I just found out about patterns which are like tracers to cut fabric—would’ve been helpful when I was putting my shirts/shorts together) so it’s taking a lot longer than usual, but I’m happy with what I have. I don’t think I’ve said what I’ll be so I want to keep it a surprise until I finish everything. Thanks for being patient with me Readers. I’ll post more once Halloween’s over.

Coruscant Guard headcanons-ish (mostly focusing on Hound):

There aren’t just massiffs

Coruscant has a lot of smuggling, including animals. Not only that but the Senators give them their pets to take care of (that is not a pet but a wild animal wtf)

But they end up with an assortment of baby animals that CAN be domesticated and do something with them

Quinlan started it when he handed a baby Nexu to Fox and said they were trainable and loyal. Fox passed this on to Hohnd and nugget was a part of the family since

Ever since then they got two more Nexu, both sticking with new shinies under Hounds command

Surprisingly they have one Narglatch, though Blizzard (dubbed by Stone) is rarely used. Often used for chases in the lower levels, able to chase and weave easier through crowds than a speeder (think Horses in police forces)

At one point, some 501st and 212th troopers found what they thought to be a massiff and happily dropped it with the Guard,

It was not a massiff and Hound broke many laws to get it to the Jedi temple and out of his hands fast

See they had found an Albek, a force sensitive creature that looks like a massif but is VERY aggressive and BERY untrainable, last Hound heard was that it was set free and is very happy

Another of the larger creatures that is used far more often than the narglatch is the Varactyl

Somehow a shipment of young had been smuggled onto Coruscant and were taken in by the Guard

Their ability to climb vertical surfaces and calm nature and silliness to listen to their rider made them perfect in the club districts; the tall buildings were close enough to jump between and had many platforms for people to walk and dance

They could weave above crowds and act almost like helicopters when chasing criminals, but we’re able to go into the crowds; only problem is that people had to get out of the way or be trampled

Hound and his infinite luck ran across a hurt Rancor with a shiny one night. Though they could not take the Rancor in, they sent it to the Jedi temple where it receives lots of love and treats from the younglings and troopers who visit

The Rancor serves as a guardian of the wing dedicated to dangerous artifacts and texts, and is watched over by the Temple Guard

AND AND AND

Spark dragons

ARF troopers ride them but due to fear, they are used to guard the prisons. Occasionally, they are lent out to other battalions with their riders

They are dragons native to Kiffu and can easily get their charge from the static electricity created by genorators

They were found as young babies and trained by the ARF

Quinlan was absolutely ecstatic and adores them, they’ve made a special attachment with him but prefer their troopers

On one occasion two were sent out with the Marine Corps, who were afraid as hell. Those troopers had a lovely time and many stores of scaring the ‘hardcore’ troopers

// Rancor Battalion HC:

Colt is the vod’ika. He used to be with the 91st Reconnaissance Corps , then got transferred to the 501st in Cascade Company (That’s why his pauldron is blue and red). One day his platoon got absolutely wiped out, and Blitz and Havoc, who were also planetside, found Colt wounded and surrounded by an entire destroyed platoon of B2s. Blitz carried him back to base, and when Colt woke up, Blitz was by his bed. He says, “You’d make a good ARC trooper.” then leaves.

That motivated Colt to do even better, and what he didn’t know was that Blitz and Havoc both recommended him for ARC. A few months later, he’s a part of Rancor Battalion. Through several shows of valor and skill, he became the leader of Rancor Battalion.

Headcanons about the Command Batch (and Rex)

General Info

Names—

Marshal Cs: Fox, Bly, Bacara, Gree, Cody

ARC Cs: Thorn, Blitz, Colt, Havoc

Commanders: Wolffe, Thire, Monnk, Ponds, Neyo, Odd Ball, Stone

Honorary: Rex

Headcanons

The orders above are my head canon for ages. Marshals Cs are oldest, and the ARCs and others vary on who is the oldest.

I know that there’s a common head canon that Cody is the youngest of the commanders so he adopts Rex to be a big brother.

But I have a different idea.

Cody is just the youngest of the marshal commanders.

They are the largest batch out of all their brothers (16!). But they still made their own groups. Marshal Commanders typically sought out younger brothers to add to their group.

The groups themselves weren't equal numbers, and sometimes shifted around.

The thing with Cody, is that he kept getting his clique 'stolen' from him by his older brothers.

Namely... Monnk (Gree), Ponds (Fox), Wolffe (Bly), and Blitz (broke off and formed his own group with what would become Rancor Battalion). He got to keep Odd Ball, though.

So Cody, in his demand for another younger brother to dote on, tease, and connect with, found Rex and made it clear he was not to be messed with. By anybody (especially the Kaminoans that kept side eyeing the captain's odd hair).

And no matter how hard the other commanders tried, Rex was stuck to Cody's side and wouldn't switch groups.

Unpopular opinion/headcanon: because the clones picked up/adopted the various cultures of their training sergeants and the Cuy'val Dar wasn't entirely Mando (3/4ths were Mandalorian, 1/4th was not if i remember correctly), a good portion of the troops don't pick up Mando'a until they get mixed in with their permanent units. Even more among the younger clones because there probably weren't many Mandos that stuck around on Kamino after - only the troops the Mandos had trained, who then maybe passed some of it onto the younger men.

Domino squad had non-mando sergeants (Bric and El-Les were non-mando mercs) and thus maybe only knew a few words of Mando'a from it trickling through thr ranks. Fives and Echo did not adopt the culture until after joining Torrent bc if the encounter with Rex and Cody on Rishi (idk if Cody and the other CCs had a Mando training sergeant, but Rex certainly did bc he got the jaig eyes). MY POINT IS Rex is a massive influence on Fives and Echo and dragged them into the Mando culture along with the rest of Torrent.

I like to also hc that the CG boys are more influenced by a Corellian training sergeant and thus are more Corellian than Mando. It's yet another thing that causes a rift/rivalry between them and the other units/Arca barracks.

Another thought- the units speak slightly different dialects/adopt slightly different cultures depending on where their Mando training sergeant is from. Torrent speaks Mando'a with an accent reminiscent of Concord Dawn, the Wolfpack speaks with a much older Dxun accent, and the Rancor Battalion has an accent from some clan that lives in a hunting camp on an uninhabited world. It's even more apparent among the commandos and ARCs because they overall have better memories and more exposure to the Mandalorian training sergeants. The differences between the unit accents are slight and usually only noticed by other Mandos and only when they speak Mando'a.

Warnings: fluff overload, broken ankle, Rex being a good boyfriend

Author’s Note: i had this oddly specific daydream while i was procrastinating work. i couldn’t stop giggling at the thought of losing a bet to the 501st and having to dye your hair blue.

This was humiliating.

It was worse enough that you had to reluctantly tolerate Fives’ constant gloating over winning the bet in the first place. But now that wasn’t even the worst part of the whole situation.

Kriffing blue.

A particular shade that flawlessly matched the 501st’s armor, like the hair dye had been some weird patriotic salute to the legion.

So now your hair is stained a darker shade of royal blue, your cuticles as well because you were feeling too stubborn to bother to find gloves (Fives had called you a sore loser).

And fuck, you were really wishing that you had just kept your mouth shut. But how were you supposed to know that you were going to break your ankle in the middle of the kriffing race?

The bastard didn’t even stop to check if you were okay until after crossing the finish line.

So now your hair, cuticles, and cast were matching with the 501st’s armor.

The only part of you that didn’t correspond with the 501st? Your armor.

Because you belonged to the 104th Battalion. The Wolf Pack.

You wore maroon, and you wore it proudly. Not blue.

You answered to General Plo Koon and Commander Wolffe. No one else. Not Skywalker, not Tano.

And especially not Captain Rex, who could not wipe that stupid smirk off his face— fuck smirking.

He’s grinning.

Sauntering beside you with his helmet tucked in the crook of his arm, beaming ear to ear like he’s never been more proud.

And you’d have half-a-mind to smack it right of his face.

Sinker will never let you live this down, he would not stop giggling behind his gloved hand.

He even had the audacity to call you “blueberry” once but his mouth snapped shut when he saw the steam pouring out of your ears.

Comet refused to stop staring at you like you were a kriffing rancor.

Boost’s jaw was hanging open the entire debriefing, he’s lucky that he didn’t catch any flies.

Wolffe’s sigh was royal.

So was his eye roll.

And General Plo Koon was especially pleased, and entirely too amused for your liking.

But you were idiotic to think the 104th’s reaction was bad. As soon as the 501st caught sight of your blue head passing through the barracks? Game over.

Whooping, whistling, name calling— you name it.

You prayed to the Maker that Sinker didn’t drop the nickname “blueberry” in front of them (spoiler alert: he did).

Forget about escaping. They swarmed you.

Ruffling your hair, telling you that you looked a million times better, saying that you should transfer battalions.

And you wouldn’t usually even agree with the statement that all clones look alike, but as they all gaze down at you with the same shit-eating grin? Identical.

Jesse is about to fall over from laughing at your new nickname.

Hardcase and Tup are high-fiving.

Fives is looking a little more cocky than usual (very proud of his victory).

Kix was fishing out a camera to take a picture when you decided that you had enough of their teasing.

So you ventured further into the barracks without a second thought because even though you’re glad that you’re new hairdo offered them some joy, you could only handle so much (you didn’t want to “accidentally” beat the crap out of Fives with your crutches).

Alas, you were foolish to think that you could shake their captain’s attention from you so easily.

“I think it looks good,” Rex assures nonchalantly, though you don’t even have to look at him to know that he’s still grinning like a madman. “Better even. An improvement.”

You arch an eyebrow at him, almost daring him to continue (though you’re not having much fortune with dares lately either).

Except luckily, he eases up a bit, knowing that you’re still tired from the last mission.

“How’s the ankle?” Rex questions, gesturing down to the leg wrapped in blue bandages — you didn’t even know that they had colored bandages but apparently Kix is willing to go great lengths for his brother Fives.

How’s the ankle? Uh... painful.

“Doesn’t hurt too bad,” you offer him, knowing that it’s best not to complain because Rex will worry about you like there’s no tomorrow.

He would tell you that if you want to get back out on the field you need to get plenty of bed rest, but he’ll already walking you to your personal quarters (and he doesn’t particularly want you back out on the field either).

Once inside your quarters, he scoops you up in his arms like you weigh nothing, carefully setting you down on the mattress so that you don’t have to put more strain on your ankle. He’s then stuffing a few pillows beneath your foot to keep it elevated and wrapping your injury with a gel cooling pack.

“Thank you,” you mutter quietly, blinking up at him through your eyelashes.

He can’t help but smile, his lips twitching adorably and it makes your heart flutter in your rib cage.

“No problem, sweetheart,” Rex replies earnestly, wasting no time stripping his armor.

Neither of you say anything as he climbs into the bed beside you, but you can’t help but hum in appreciation at the warmth of his skin as he leans down to press a kiss to your forehead.

His smile widens a bit, his hand coming up to brush a few strands of vibrant blue hair away from your eyes.

You know it’s coming before he even tries to speak.

“I really do think that this is a good look on you,” he assures, playing with your hair absentmindedly. “Think you’re beautiful with blue hair..”

Your content smile deflates a little, playfully narrowing your eyes at him. “Gee thanks, Captain. Wish I would have known you had a thing for blue hair back when I was trying to seduce you.”

Rex chuckles, shrugging lightly. “Seems to me like you did just fine without it. Besides, you’re beautiful no matter what color your hair is.”

You shake your head at him, glad for it to be your turn to tease someone. “No, no. Trust me, I get it. Don’t tell anyone, but I have a thing for blonds.”

Your nonchalance makes his jaw drop a little while he laughs.

“You don’t say,” he retorts, leaning forward to press a short but sweet kiss to your slightly puckered lips. “Just don’t tell anyone that I have a thing for blue hair then.”

You hold up your pinkie finger. “Your secret’s safe with me, Cap.”
