Not gonna lie I did forget this in my drafts last night. Anyways here it is!
Tumblr media
If one more person asked Steve if he was going to college, he would strangle them.
Yes he’d made peace with not getting into any schools. And yes he felt somewhat content with the life he built for himself. But that didn’t stop the ache in his heart of what might have been.
Dwelling on the past, however, wouldn’t do him any good. So instead, he focused on the present. He clutched his glass tight against his chest and nodded along to the man in front of him. The room was packed, as it was every time his parents hosted a holiday party. People gathered from all over Loch Nora, including some from the city, who he assumed were his fathers work friends.
Why he had to go to these parties, he didn’t know. He had begged and pleaded throughout his high school years to be dismissed. To go to a friend's house or hide in his room until the festivities were over. But every attempt ended in complete and utter failure.
So instead of going to see a movie with Robin or the kids, he bit the side of his mouth as the fifth person tonight asked:
“So what are your plans for college next year?”
That was it, he wanted to reach forward, to wrap his hands around the man’s neck and yell, “My future doesn’t concern you! Mind your own business!”
But he knew that was wrong. Even in a world where alternate dimensions existed, a world where DnD-like characters hunted them down, strangling this man would be considered improper. He took a sharp inhale and forced a smile, ready to recite the same sentence he had practiced in the mirror earlier.
“I’m actually working full time. I find real life experience more valuable than what I could learn in a classroom.”
The man’s brow raised before quickly relaxing in an attempt to look intrigued. It was clear he didn’t agree but didn’t want to upset the son of the hosts. The man nodded, taking a sip of his drink. “Well that’s, progressive…”
Steve tried not to scoff. Progressive. He couldn’t take these people any more. The language they used, the way they looked down on almost everyone. He did not see why his parents enjoyed the company of such dull minded people. Then again, he guessed his parents were just as boring as their companions.
“If you’ll excuse me, I have to go check on something,” Steve excused himself.
Before the man could protest, he was moving away through the crowd of people and up the stairs. Just a moment in his room, that was what he needed. His parents wouldn’t even notice he was gone. Hell, he could probably stay upstairs all night if he wanted to.
Steve let his back hit the wood of the door, it softly closing behind him. His head thudded against the back as the sounds of the party slowly drifted away to a distant muffle. For a moment, he felt peace. Tomorrow his parents would leave for their real holiday break. Some cruise he couldn’t care to remember. He’d finally be back to hanging out with Robin and the kids, and pretended like everything was okay.
But not all of the noises faded away.
“Umm, hi?”
Without thinking, Steve’s eyes shot open, his hand reaching for the nail-poked bat leaning against his dresser. He could never be too careful since his last encounter with the supernatural. It was better to keep the weapon in his room than face a demogorgon alone and vulnerable.
It wasn’t until he was armed in a defensive stance did he realize that there was no threat. In fact a very pretty stranger was sitting at the edge of his bed. Her hands were in front of her face, using the book she was holding to block from the suspecting blow.
“Holy shit, you scared me,” Steve said exasperated. He let the bat fall to his side as he slumped down against the floor. The rush of unneeded adrenaline made him feel light headed. His tie wrinkled as it folded into his chest.
“Sorry,” the stranger said, lowering the book and fixing her hair. “I didn’t think anyone would come in here. If I knew you had a bat-”
“No it’s alright, just… muscle memory,” he told her, still out of breath. He looked up at the book she was holding. It was one of his, plucked from his shelf next to his desk. “You came in here to read?”
She looked down at the book. “Not initially, no, but it looked interesting.”
“You can keep it. I only have it because it was required reading in school.”
The stranger’s eyes widened, her mouth forming an “o” with shock.
“This is your room,” she said, the realization of her intrusion settling in. Steve only nodded, picking himself off the ground. The stranger stood up too, placing the book back on the shelf. “I’m so sorry I just wandered in here-“
“It’s fine,” he said, waving a hand in dismissal. He truly didn’t care that she had stumbled into his room. The night was so exhausting all he wanted to do was sit. The bed creased at his weight as he did so.
The stranger remained standing, shifting her balance between each foot as she crossed her arms over her chest. Her gaze darted between him and the door, like she was pondering running away from the encounter entirely.
“I uh, didn’t know anyone else my age would be here,” he told her, unsure of what else to say. “Usually it’s just me and all the couples.”
“Yeah, I guess our dad’s work together,” She said, though it came out more like a question. “We just moved to town, so I don’t really know anyone here.”
“To Hawkins?” He asked, making sure he heard her right. She nodded.
“This town was just so great we had to move here,” she said, looking down at her feet. It was clearly a sore spot for her and he didn’t want to press any further.
“Yeah usually I hear about more people moving away every year… it’s not all bad though.” She rolled her eyes. “No really it’s not!”
“Okay how? Ever since I got here it’s been nothing but stuck up middle aged people complaining that their pools aren’t clean.”
Steve chuckled. “Okay I’ll admit there are a lot of people like that. But just inside Loch Nora. This is kind of the more well off community ya know?”
“So,” the girl began, sitting down in the bed next to him. “There are other parts of this town not full of old rich people?”
“Well I can’t promise that,” he paused, watching her giggle. “Though I can say there will be much less of them. Just stay away from the community pool.”
The girl raised an eyebrow, “And how do you know that isn’t where I wanna be? I could be a gold digger for all you know.”
“Oh well in that case you’re in the perfect place!” She giggled again and Steve couldn’t help the smile forming on his face. Hearing her make that sound? He never wanted it to stop. “I could show you, ya know? Around town?”
“Really?”
“Of course,” he replied a little too quickly. She was so damn pretty it was like every thought had left his head.
After his break up with Nancy, and Robin came out to him, Steve had done some serious rethinking in his life. Gone were the days of fooling around with the first girl he saw. Instead he decided to focus on more serious pursuits. People he could see being “the one.”
But with this girl, it was like he wanted to throw every single one of his rules out the window. He wanted to let himself get infatuated by her. Let her consume his only waking thoughts for however long this holiday party was supposed to last. He hoped she would let him.
The girl extended her hand. “I’m Y/n.”
Steve placed his hand in hers, giving it a firm shake. “Steve.”
“Nice to meet you, Steve. Now, how are we gonna make this party more interesting?”
🎬🎬🎬
“Are you sure about this?”
“Trust me, they won’t even know it’s gone.”
Y/n felt like a kid again. It had been a long time since a boy made her feel giddy inside. Someone she felt comfortable being around, not having to question any ulterior motives.
The boy grasped her hand tightly, pulling her through the large groups of people in the living room of his house. She giggled as he did so, watching as he turned back every now and then to make sure he hadn't lost her.
As they crossed the threshold into the kitchen, his hand slipped out of hers - she was surprised to find she missed his embrace. There hadn’t been many opportunities to socialize with people her age since moving to Hawkins so part of her was relieved when he barged into the room just minutes before. Yes, he had almost attacked her with a nail-covered bat, but he didn’t so that’s all that mattered.
She watched as Steve stepped around a group of businessmen talking by the open bar, taking a towel and draping it over his forearm like a server. He gestured for her to step forward. She did so, walking up to rest her arms on the counter. The businessman next to them didn’t pay any attention, despite seeing the two underage kids about to serve themselves drinks.
“What’s your poison?” Steve asked, putting on his most polite tone.
She smiled coyly, feeling her cheeks warm up. “Is it boring if I say beer?”
“Oh, this overpriced wine is too good for you?” She laughed again. “I mean, how dare you have a different taste than these snobs.”
“I like my beer, what can I say?”
Leaning down below the bar, Steve grabbed two bottles from the mini-fridge and an opener.  “Well good thing I like it too.”
Handing the open drink to her, she relished the small moment their fingers touched, the way they twitched slightly on contact. She looked back up at him. Into the chocolate brown eyes that made her want to lean forward and kiss him.
She never thought she’d feel that way after meeting someone for such a brief amount of time. But Steve radiated this kind and welcoming energy that was so unlike other people she had been attracted to in the past.
Pushing the thought from her mind, she cleared her throat. “Where to now?”
🎬🎬🎬
Over the course of his life in the big Harrington house, Steve found his fair share of secret places. They were not secret passageways, much to his dismay as a child, but nooks and crannies he could escape to for hours at a time. With the house full of people, most of those places were blocked and unusable. But there was one, he knew would go unseen.
“Are you being serious?” Y/n asked him, her hand gripping the window sill.
Steve balanced himself on the tiles of the roof, extending an arm back toward the open window of his bedroom. “I used to do this all the time,” he told her. “Do you trust me?”
Y/n let out a weak laugh, looking down. It was a weird question to ask someone you just met but in Steve’s mind, he could already trust her with his life. Thankfully, she felt the same way.
“For some reason, I do,” she said.
Leaning forward, he made sure to grasp her hand, having no plans of letting go anytime soon. She climbed through the window, bumping into him slightly as her feet hit the uneven tiles. Instinctively, he wrapped his other arm around her back to steady her. The fuzzy texture of her sweater itched on his fingers, but he’d rather feel uncomfortable than let her fall off the roof.
Balancing on her own, he released his hand, now somewhat missing the feeling of her sweater. He looked up at her, giving a nod to ask if she was okay. When she nodded back, he slowly began to move forward. They carefully maneuvered around the brick roof, sitting down on the edge of another window sill.
Y/n’s shoulders brushed against his as they sat down and Steve felt like a giddy teenager again. He had never taken a girl up here, but this felt like the type of sight she would wanna see.
“This is the attic window,” he told her, “It doesn’t open from the inside.”
“Duly noted,” she replied, interlancing her fingers atop her lap. “So, what’s so special about this spot?”
Steve let out a long breath, a much needed one after sucking up to his dad’s business partners all night. This was a spot that he never came to with anyone else. Partly because it was on the roof and partly because he liked keeping it hidden. It was a place he could go to to unwind, to ignore all the problems he had with his homelife.
Instead of baring his soul to this new girl, despite a part of him desperately wanting to, he went with a more simple explanation. “It has a good view of the neighborhood. When it starts to get dark, you can see the sun set over the houses.”
Y/n looked out in front of them. The sun had set a long time ago, but the sight was still beautiful. She told him so. “The stars are nice. You couldn’t see them in my old town.”
“No?”
She shook her head before turning to look at him. “Thank you for bringing me up here. This is just what I needed after the nightmare of moving here this week.”
He didn’t know how to respond, afraid that somehow he would fuck everything up. As he tried to think of something interesting to say, she leaned her body toward him. He felt her head rested on his shoulder and found himself infatuated with her smell.
It was a mix of different citrus scents he couldn’t quite place. No matter, it started to consume him anyway.  She was sinking under his skin and he had no intention of letting it go.
“O-of course,” he finally said, clearing his throat. “Glad to be of service.”
Y/n picked up her head from his shoulder, their faces barely inches away from each other. Steve thought she might kiss him from how she kept darting her eyes between his and his lips. He had barely known this girl for two hours. But he knew deep down that if she leaned in to kiss him, he would let her.
He let out a breath as she backed up slightly. A move that clarified there would be no making out to end the night. He wasn’t mad or upset, part of him actually was thankful. He didn’t wanna fuck up this relationship. Didn’t want his old self to seep into his new life with a person who didn’t know his past.
“You and I are going to be great friends, Steve,” she said, her voice softly floating between them. “I just know it.”
🎬🎬🎬
The thought of kissing Y/n still hadn’t left Steve’s mind. She had left with her parents and being the stupid, stupid boy he was, he didn’t ask for her information. He had looked for her everywhere he went. At work, at the grocery store; sometimes he would even aimlessly drive around Loch Nora hoping to catch her outside her home.
But a month later, he still hadn’t found her. Steve was starting to think that he made her up. That she was a beautiful figment of his imagination he conjured to pass the time at another boring holiday party. He wouldn’t put it past himself. After the battle with Vecna, he found himself daydreaming more and more, wanting to escape from the hellish reality he was placed in.
He had been daydreaming so much that Robin began to scold him. “Dingus, would at least try to act busy?”
Her words pulled him out of his thoughts of the mysterious Y/n. Back to the present, back to shelving tapes at Family Video. “Sorry,” he mumbled to his companion, not feeling like picking a fight with her.
Leaning on the shelf next to him, Robin could tell something was off. “You okay dingus? You were really gone there for a second.”
“I said sorry,” he told her, placing down another tape. “I was just…lost in thought.”
“Oh don’t tell me you were thinking of your mysterious party girl again. Steve glared at her, not engaging in her games. “Gosh you’re like a modern prince charming!”
“Am not!” he protested.
“Really?” she said sarcastically, folding her arms across her chest. “Cause from here it looks like you're searching for your princess, except this time she didn’t leave a glass slipper.”
Steve sighed, moving to the shelf across from them, picking up another set of tapes for that genre. “Is it wrong to want to find her? I promised her I’d show her around, ya know? Be a friendly face in town.”
Robin moved over with him, leaning against another shelf. “You can’t go searching around Loch Nora again tonight.”
“And why not?”
“Argh you don’t remember anything! We’re going to Eddie’s gig tonight? At the Hideout?” Shit, he did forget. It was hard to keep track of anything with all the activities the kids had. “You better not back out, you're my ride!”
“I'm not gonna back out!” he protested, knowing full well he would’ve canceled if she didn’t say something. He loved Eddie but metal music was not his thing. The head pounding, the sharp drum beats - it made his head hurt.
Ring!
The front door sounded out, making Steve and Robin poke their heads out from the isle they were in. Thankfully it was just Dustin, a lollipop in his mouth from winning a game at the arcade next door.
“Can one of you take me home?” he asked.
Steve groaned. When he said “can one of you,” it really meant him. Robin, being a year out of high school, had yet to get her driver’s license.
Sighing, he said, “Sure, my shift ends in five.”
🎬🎬🎬
The Hideout was more crowded than Steve remembered. People were bumping his shoulders on either side, the ground somewhat sticky from spilled drinks. The walls were covered in band posters, some of them local, most of which Steve had never heard of. Robin was plastered to his side, talking to Nancy and Jonathan who had just arrived.
“Do you think they’re gonna play LaunchPad McQuack?” Jonathan asks, somewhat shouting over the music.
“I have no idea,” Robin yelled back. “I think they’re playing new stuff.”
They saw Jonathan nod, trying to hide his disappointment. He was always Eddie’s big supporter when it came to music. Being the only one of them who could actually studied music in his off time.
“As long as -” Steve began to speak, being cut off by the uproar of the crowd. He looked over to see Corroded Coffin walking across the stage, Eddie walking up to take the mic.
He was already nursing a drink, placing it on a conveniently placed stool as the other members began tinkering with their instruments. Taking the mic in his hands he shouted, “How’s everyone doing tonight?”
The crowd roared as he scanned it, his eyes quickly falling on all of his friends. Eddie winked at them with a smirk. In unison, the four friends picked up their hands to flip him off. To outsiders it seemed like an awful thing to do, but for them, it was a fun gesture to let the others know that they’re there, they’re present, and they’re supporting one another.
Eddie chuckled as he saw the gesture, the crowd dying down enough that he could speak again. “Now I know you’re excited to hear our new stuff, but unfortunately our bassist Jeff is sick.” The crowd booed, Steve and Robin among them. “Fear not! For we have a newcomer here to join us! Everyone, make some noise for the lovely, the wonderful, Y/n Y/L!”
The crowd began cheering as Y/n walked out, her bass already strapped around her. Steve, on the other hand, felt himself melt into shock. There she was, in all her beautiful glory. The girl he hadn’t stopped thinking about who was very much real and not his imagination.
Y/n. Her name felt like butter on his tongue. The way she dressed left very little to his imagination - it was making him go insane.
She waved to the crowd, her eyes washing over them before they found him. She stuttered for a second and chuckled, her too not sure if he was really in front of her. But then, she smiled. She truly smiled.
After going to so many of his parents’ holiday parties, he began to get pretty good at reading people. The amount of fake smiles that people had given him were enough to kick him down and stay there for good. But as he looked up at Y/n on that stage and saw that grin, he could tell that it was real.
“Steve?” His name pulled him out of his own thoughts. Robin had been talking to him. He hummed a yes. “Is that her?”
He had only told Robin her name one or twice over the course of the month and it was still hazy in memory.
“Y-yeah,” Steve managed to get out, just as the band began its first track. “Yeah it is.”
🎬🎬🎬
The band played most of their new stuff, people in the crowd jumping and jamming along to the songs. Most of it went over Steve’s head, everything around him becoming muffled as he watched Y/n in awe.
She was gorgeous, he knew that before. But watching her play the bass? It was so hot. The way her fingers plucked at the strings, her shoulders swaying back and forth to keep in time with the drums. Even down to the bead of sweat trickling down her forehead, she seemed perfect.
The set was over before he registered it beginning. Applause ruptured from the crowd as the band made their way off stage. Steve felt a pang in his chest as he watched her disappear, like if he ever lost sight of her again she would be gone from his life for good.
No. Not this time. He found her and he had no intention of letting her go.
The band had to have a meeting with their newly appointed manager so instead of meeting backstage, the four friends waited in the parking lot. Steve found it hard to stand still. He paced back and forth in front of Eddie’s van as he bit on his nails, anxiously waiting to see Y/n again.
Jonathan nudged Robin’s shoulder. “What’s got him so nervous?” he asked.
“That girl on bass?” Robin began, watching her two friends nod knowingly. “Apparently she moved to town a month ago. Steve met her at a party his parents were holding and like an idiot didn’t ask for her number.”
“You know I can hear you, Rob,” Steve told her, stopping his pacing in front of them.
“I wasn’t trying to hide it. You were stupid for not asking!”
He wanted to bicker with her, but in the end he knew she was right. It was stupid to let her leave that night without even knowing her address.
Before he could even utter a word, Nancy said, “Oh look they’re coming!”
Steve turned around to see the band walking up to the van. Eddie was in front, his arms stretched out on either side of him as he dangled his guitar case. “Was that so metal or what?!”
Jonathan was the first to step forward. “Super metal man, congrats on the EP.”
Robin and Nancy began to congratulate him as well but Steve’s eyes were drawn on Y/n, her arm wrapped around Gareth’s shoulders. It dropped when she looked up at him.
Gareth kept walking like nothing happened, everyone moving around each other in congratulations but Steve and Y/n stood still. His eyes were stuck on her, stuck in her beautiful eyes he never thought he’d see again. And then, she smiled. Gosh, he loved that smile.
Eddie was the first from the group to notice their staring. “You two look like deer caught in headlights,” he said with a chuckle. “You two know each other or something?”
Steve was still unable to get a word out, thankful Y/n spoke for them. “Yes we do,” she told Eddie, finally breaking her gaze to look at him. “In fact, we have plans tonight. Don’t we, Steve?”
They both knew that wasn’t true. But if she wanted to get away, he would follow her at the drop of a hat.
“Uh y-yes. Yes we do,” he stuttered out.
Nancy tilted her head in confusion. “Wait, I thought we were all heading to the diner?”
Steve could barely process he was being pulled away as Y/n’s hand wrapped around his, gently guiding him toward her own car parked a couple spots away.
“Uh maybe next time?”
Y/n was giggling into his side as she loaded her bass into the trunk of her car. “You were my ride, dingus!” Robin shouted back as he opened the side of her car door.
“John will take you, right?” Steve asked, a pleading look on his face.
Jonathan, confused as what had just happened stuttered out, “Y-yeah, sure. I can take you home.”
Shouting a thanks, Steve felt Y/n pull him into the car, the door shutting hastily behind him. Turning on the car, she turned to look at him, her smile stretching across her face. “So, I think you promised me a tour of Hawkins.”
He couldn’t help but smile back. “I did, didn’t I?” Reaching forward, he interlaced his hand with hers. “Looks like you already found Eddie, that covers the dangerous side of town.”
Y/n laughed, her head dropping forward. “Yeah, no need to show me the crack house.”
“Well, we could go to Lover’s Lake.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Lover’s Lake? You think you’re gonna get lucky tonight, Steve?”
Her tone was more playful than condescending and it made Steve feel like the luckiest guy in the world. Shrugging he said, “Maybe?”
Laughing again, she put the car in drive, her hand leaving his to prop against the wheel. They pulled to the edge of the Hideout’s parking lot. She turned to look at him one more time.
“Lucky for you, Harrington, I think you’re right.”

Tumblr media
Pairing: No-outbreak!Joel x married!reader
Series summary: You moved to Austin Texas with your husband due to his job, but your already troubled marriage is about to get more complicated when the contractor remodeling your home, Joel Miller, will enter both of your lives.
Chapter summary: Moving to Austin was the right decision, but you can't shake the feeling that something's wrong.
warnings: hints to the reader's unhappy childhood, and a very short smut moment
Next chapter
New city, new home, new life.
You should have been happy, you really should have been, but the weight that had sat on your chest as you got on the plane had lingered.
You wanted this. You had to.
You had the perfect life.
A big house with an even bigger lawn, more money than you ever thought possible, and a loving husband.
A loving husband of two years, a loving husband who had to move to Texas for work, a loving husband who you followed across the country, leaving everything and everyone behind, because it's him, and you love him.
Yes. You love him, just as he loves you.
You just needed time, time to adjust, and find a way to start new.
And Austin seemed as good a place as any.
It's warm and sunny here, and the city has an aura you had never quite encountered in any other place.
It's different from New York, yes, but different is good, different means change, and you needed a change.
"I smell burnt"
"oh- shit" you hissed, your gaze finally dropping from the window and down towards the pan where bacon was frying.
You turned the stove off and opened the window, trying to get some of the smell out.
"You ok?"
You looked at Richard, his deep blue eyes, perfectly slicked-back hair, and the tailored suit hugging his body like a second skin made him look as if he had come straight out of a commercial.
He wasn't watching you anymore, his attention had moved to the coffee maker.
"yeah I'm fine, I'm just a little tired I guess"
"you should rest today," he said, pouring some coffee into a cup
"I will" you nodded, glancing at the pan "I should probably make more bacon"
"don't worry" he stopped you "I'll just eat something on the way"
"you sure?"
"Yeah" He took a sip from his mug and set down on a stool
"So..." you walked to the opposite side of the kitchen counter to face him "Are you nervous?"
He raised his eyes from his phone to look at you.
"Why would I be? I'm the boss"
"yeah, but it's still your first day"
He shrugged "I just want to get it over with, today's only gonna be meetings and people introducing themselves, tomorrow's gonna be my actual first day"
"right," you offered him a small smile "And have you talked to Francis?"
"Yeah, he said he'll show me around today"
He stood up to place the cup in the sink.
"and about the remodeling?"
"Right, yeah he gave me a number, I'll text it to you"
"great"
Silence fell, and with it, a spell seemed to turn you both to stone
He broke it first
"Right" he glanced at his watch "I better go"
"Right," you said, taking a step closer to him.
His lips were on and off of yours so quickly you wondered if you had imagined it.
"Have a great day" you managed, as he walked out of the room
"you too"
__ __ __
The shelves had finally started to come to life.
"Why do we have to bring all your books, it's a waste of time" you recalled Richard saying "It's not like you're gonna read all of them again"
It infuriated you how he didn't get it, how completely baffled he was by your decision.
Like hell you were leaving such an important part of you back home.
Some of the volumes filling the living room you've had since you were a child, some of these stories raised you when there was no one else bothering to do the job.
A small, unexpected smile pulled at your lips as your gaze fell to the last remaining book in the box.
'scary stories to tell in the dark'
You were only 12 years old when you read it. You had found it in the school library, and tempted by a bravado that didn't belong to you, you had picked it up and stuffed it in your bag, carrying it all the way home as if it were the most precious treasure ever known to man.
It had helped silence the screams down the hallway, but it also made it impossible for you to sleep for a whole week.
A quiet laugh climbed your throat as you remembered watching every shadow in your room mutate into a horrifying monster.
You had never given it back.
The barely-together copy in your hands was the same one you had held 22 years ago.
For some reason, out of all the books you've read, this one you held closer to your heart.
Perhaps it was the rebellion behind the act, or perhaps, it was the feeling that that book had given you, the courage, the proof that you could do it, that you were gonna come out the other end, the proof, at last, that monsters can be fought, and at times even defeated.
You sighed, as you settled the book onto the now overflowing shelf, taking a step back to admire the living room.
That's it.
Piece by piece, you were gonna make this your home.
The next hours passed in a frenzy and by the time only a box was left on the floor, it was two in the afternoon.
You had been so caught up with your work you had forgotten to eat.
And now that you realized... god if you weren't hungry.
It's just one more box though, you thought as you peeked at it.
Yeah, c'mon I can do this
Only the stuff for the coffee table remained, and as you took the first item-
Fuck.
The shattered lamp rested on the floor like paint on a Pollok.
Fuck me, man, that was expensive.
You cringed as you bent to try and pick up the sharp pieces, but of course, as a ringing sounded across the room, you gasped and lost your focus, cutting your finger on the glass.
A stinging pain shot through you and you winced loudly, stumbling backward while trying hard not to look at the blood.
This really wasn't the time to be fainting.
Your phone was still annoyingly ringing.
"What?" you picked up without bothering to look
"I'm sorry is this a bad time?" what sounded like a confused male's voice spoke through the phone.
"Richard?" you frowned as you realized it was an unknown number "I'm sorry who's this?"
"I'm Joel, Joel Miller, from the contracting company" he paused "Your husband gave me your number"
"oh" you breathed "I-I'm sorry, he didn't tell me"
"Ma'am if this is a bad time I can call you later"
"no, no please don't worry I just- Now it's fine"
"ok good, your husband has told me you want to do some remodeling?"
"Yeah, we have a big room on the second floor that's unutilized and I'd like to build up a wall and make it into two rooms, perhaps a guest bedroom and bathroom"
He hummed, considering your words "That shouldn't be a problem, I'd like to come to your house one of these days so I can see the space firsthand"
"Yeah sure" You nodded, wrapping a paper towel around your finger once you walked to the kitchen "Would tomorrow be alright?"
"Absolutely, how does 10:30 sound?"
"perfect" you smiled
"Alright then, if you just give me your address we're gonna be all set"
"of course"
__ __ __
he didn't come home for dinner.
"I'll eat out with some of my colleagues"
That's all he said.
And before you knew it you were heating a frozen pizza in the oven, and watching the sun disappear on the horizon through the kitchen window.
It was good that he stayed out, that's what you kept repeating in your head.
It's good that he's already getting to know his colleagues, and it's good that he's already settling in, it's perfect.
It's what you should be doing.
And yes you would have liked to spend more time with him today, but there's still tomorrow, and the day after that... there's still the rest of your life, one day certainly won't make a difference.
And it's not like you didn't enjoy the quiet, it gave you time to think, to look around the bare walls and ponder what you should fill them with.
A painting there, a mirror there, photos there... it was all coming together in your head.
The house had started to look more like a home, your home.
It was 9 pm by the time you decided to go to bed, it was early for your standards, but you'd had a long day.
He wasn't home yet.
You didn't know what time it was when you heard the front door open, but you were still awake, having tossed and turned hoping to tire yourself out for what felt like an eternity.
"hey" you murmured, once he entered the bedroom
"What are you doing up?"
"I couldn't sleep"
He only nodded, as he started undressing
"So how did it go?"
"well," he said "Everyone seems nice enough"
"I'm glad" you smiled, turning on your side to look at him better "I unboxed everything for the living room today"
"cool," he sighed, hanging his suit and walking into the bathroom.
You laid there, listening to the toilet flush and the sink being shut on and off.
He emerged from the door again and made his way into the bed.
"And the contracting guy called" you continued, as he made himself comfortable "He'll come by tomorrow"
"that's good" he breathed, turning the light off
"I told him what we wanna do and he said it shouldn't be a problem"
"yeah?" he asked, as you felt him shuffle closer to you
"Yup, he said he's done stuff like that before and he just needs to-" Your words got lost in your throat once you felt his hand travel to your chest.
"Richard?" you murmured, while his mouth moved to your shoulder and slowly up your neck.
The smell of his two hundred dollars aftershave hit your nostrils immediately.
"mh?" he hummed, letting his hand sneak down to find your ass through your shorts.
"Richard... I'm tired" you whimpered
"C'mon baby, you don't have to do anything I'll do all the work"
His hands on you felt inexplicably wrong right at that moment.
"I just-" you tried to slowly shift away from his grip "I've unpacked all day, I don't feel like it"
He emitted an audible groan "Y/n it's been like a month since you've last felt like it"
Your mouth closed as quickly as it had opened.
It was the truth, you hadn't been in the mood for a while now.
"I'm sorry, I don't know- maybe tomorrow..."
He sighed, pushing himself off of you
"Whatever"
A small gust of air sent a shiver up your spine as he got up.
"where are you going?" you asked, watching his shadow move around the room.
"I'll just watch some tv or something"
"oh- alright," your voice was so small you almost didn't sound like yourself.
He didn't seem to hear you as he closed the door behind him, casting a veil of darkness over the room.
Once again, you were alone.
You turned towards the window, the moon's soft glow split the ocean of blue in the sky, shily lighting the neighborhood.
You felt a knot in your stomach, a sudden urge to cry, but as you watched the wind glide through the leaves and trees and grass, you were able to breathe, breath with each gust, slowly willing your heart to stop racing and your eyes to dry.
There was nothing to cry about.
Everything was good, great, fantastic even.
You had the perfect life.
Everything you had ever dreamed of was right in your grasp.
You just needed time, and everything was gonna work itself out fine.

“Nari.” You breathed out as you gave the girl a huge hug. The younger woman hugged you tightly and breathed out a sigh of relief. You had met Nari online after one extremely rough night with Jacob. You had finally had enough and found her through your secret twitter account when you were looking for help. Nari was your saving grace, she helped you with everything. So that your move to South Korea would be a smooth transition, minus you not knowing how to speak korean at all.
“You have no idea how worried I was.” Nari said as she let you go. “I’m so glad you were able to get out of there without that piece of fucking trash catching on.” She looked over to where the boy was walking and her eyes widened. “Time to go though.” She squeaked and grabbed your arm to lead you to the exit of the airport. You looked at her and then looked back confused.
“Nari what’s wrong?” You asked in confusion as the girl pulled you by the arm. Once you both made it out of the exit Nari looked around quickly as if she was looking for someone. “Nari seriously? Who are you looking for? You’re freaking me out!” You squeaked out. Nari looked at you apologetically.
“I’m sorry, I saw my brother.” She breathed out. “He doesn’t know I did this and if he caught me here he would have bombarded us both and probably ask you a ton of questions you wouldn’t be ready to answer.” Your eyes widened. “This is not the way I want to introduce you to him, or his friends. I guess they were on the same flight as you. He currently thinks I’m at the library studying.”
“Wait what?” You asked and looked around. “Wait, is his name Chan by any chance?” You asked quietly. The younger girl's brow raised.
“No but that’s his eldest friend. Why?” Nari asked curiously.
“He was the guy I was talking to when you called me over.” You replied, which made Nari’s eyes widen.
“Oh god, I was so close to getting caught.” She squeaked. “Glad he didn’t realize it was me.” You shook your head and chuckled.
“His friends were calling him so I doubt he even looked your way.” You said quietly. “Small world though.” Who would have thought that she’d be on the same flight as her brother. “By the way, isn't your brother younger? Why would you care if he caught you here?” You asked quietly.
“He is but he definitely acts more mature than he is, he’s always been protective of me. But he could also get me in trouble with my parents and he loves doing that. Little shit.” Nari muttered which made you laugh. Nari smiled at you softly. “By the way, the apartment complex I picked out for you is super close to me. So I helped with everything being set up.” You smiled in appreciation.
“Thank you Nari, I don’t know how I would have gotten out if it wasn’t for you.” Your lip trembled and you stared at your feet. Nari quickly hugged you.
“Don’t you dare cry or else I’m gonna cry too.” Nari pleaded as she rubbed your back. “Come on, let's get you to your new apartment.” You nodded and pulled away with a smile as you wiped the tears away. You both got into a taxi and within an hour you arrived at the apartment complex. Nari handed you a paper with your code and apartment number on it and smiled. “Welcome to your new home.” She said softly. “I would stay but I have to go home before the family gets suspicious. Also, your new cell phone came in as well. It’s by your bed charged and all set up. I kept it on English for you so it didn’t get confusing for you. Most of the people who live here speak English really well and are around our age range so it shouldn’t feel weird there.”
You nodded and smiled. “Thank you again Nari.” Nari smiled and waved at you before hopping back in the taxi back to her place. Josephine watched until the taxi was out of sight and then looked up at the apartment complex. You let out a shaky breath and walked slowly into the building. This was terrifying for you, being in a new country, not knowing the native language. You looked around nervously and bit your lip.
“Annyeonghaseyo! Mueos-eul owa deulilkkayo?” You turned to see a boy standing behind the counter with a huge smile. His cheeks reminded her of a squirrel. You walked over and gave him a small smile and a nod.
“Hi.” You said softly. “I’m sorry, do you speak english?” You asked and bit your lip. The boy nodded immediately. “I’m the new tenant here.” You showed him the paper with your apartment number, making sure not to show the code.
“Ah! Yes, my parents told me there was someone moving in here from outside the country. Welcome to Seoul!” He said with a big smile. “I’m Han Jisung. Most people call me Han. It’s very nice to meet you. My parents own the building and I help them out whenever they need. You’re from America? I just got back from there as well. My friends and I went on vacation there.” You nodded and smiled.
“It’s nice to meet you as well. I’m Y/n.” You said softly. “But yes I am from America. I just landed here not too long ago so I really am clueless as to what to do from here.” You looked down in embarrassment.  He smiled softly and quickly bent down to scurry for stuff.
“My mom had these all ready for you.” He said softly as he handed you a bunch of brochures and restaurant menus, places that knew English. You were shocked at the preparation, Nari must have told them. “There’s a lot of people around here that speak English so don’t be shy to ask for help. Also your neighbor is a good friend of mine, he’s the dad of our group and he looks out for us. I’ll tell him to come say hi. He’d be able to help you out with anything. Me and the rest of the guys who hang out with him are here often too.”  You nodded and smiled.
“I’m not really good at talking to new people.” You laughed. “He might think I’m weird.” Han smirked and tilted his head to the side while staring at you.
“I don’t know, you’re talking to me and I don’t find you weird.” He laughed softly. “Trust me, you’ll find a lot of friends here. Don’t hide yourself up there because of the language barrier and if you want to learn Korean, me and my friends are always willing to help.”
“Thank you Han.” You said softly. “I’m gonna go check my apartment out now. See you around.” You said with a smile. Han grinned at you and nodded.
“Hope you like it! — See you around Y/n!” He replied and watched you as you approached the elevator. Once you was in he quickly took out his cell phone and made a call.”
“Hello?” Someone answered on the other line.
“Hey Chan — you’re not going to believe this.” He grinned.
Chris sat up in his bed and asked for his friend to continue. “That girl you kept staring at on the plane like a love struck fool. The one who dropped the necklace? She’s moving into the apartment next to yours.” He continued. Chan shot up from where he was sitting and almost dropped his phone. There’s no way. He thought to himself.
“A-Are you sure it’s the same girl from earlier?” Chan asked quietly. Han chuckled, he could already imagine how flustered Chan was at that moment. Chan hadn’t ever really shown interest in dating or girls. Of course he was gonna remember a girl that finally caught his best friend’s eye.
“Absolutely, It’s Y/n. We talked just now. She’s heading up to the apartment as we speak.” Han replied. Like clockwork, Chan could hear the beeping of someone pressing into a keypad next door. His heart was pounding and he started to pace in his apartment. “Jisung what do I do?” He asked in a panic. Would it be weird for him to go over and say hi? How would you feel? Would you think he’s stalking you?
“Hyung, calm down and take deep breaths.” Han teased. “Go say hi. Introduce yourself. You’re her neighbor now, it would only be polite to welcome her don’t you think?” He asked. “You don’t have to do it right now, it’s late anyway. I’m sure you and her are both exhausted and want to sleep. So try tomorrow. Ask her to hang out with all of us!” Chan nodded and bit his lip. He said he would try and hung up. He looked at the wall of his apartment. She’s right there. She’s so close. He was not going to be sleeping at all because of this. But then again when did he ever sleep?
On the opposite side, You were looking around with wide eyes. Jesus, Nari really went all out. I don’t have to do much. You thought to yourself. You took your carry-on bag into your bedroom and smiled when you saw the bed. “Purple, she even made sure my sheets were my favorite color.” You giggled and put your bag down on her bed. You didn’t bring much, only a week's worth of clothes since Nari told you she’d handle everything. You unpacked quickly and slipped out of the clothes you were in, placing them in the laundry bin next to the bedroom closet.
When you walked in the bathroom you stopped in front of the giant mirror above the counter. You hated your reflection, the scars that covered your body clear as day. Both old and new. He made sure to always leave them in places most people would never see. Your stomach, your back, your sides, and inner upper thighs. He was smart, he made sure you would hide it well. But sometimes the bruises he would leave would be somewhere more noticeable. You were still pretty bruised from his last attack. You felt hideous, pathetic, and weak. You never once felt like that, not until him. You looked down at your stomach and you could hear him insulting you in your head. Pathetic fat pig. Tears flew down your cheeks and you let out a shaky breath. Were you ever going to be okay after all this?
You had always been a big girl, you were curvy and thick since you were a kid. But you gained a lot of weight during your college years due to stress and medical issues. You tried all you could to lose it. But it never seemed like anything worked, eventually you became comfortable and learned to embrace how you were and at first Jacob seemed to not mind as much. But that was all a facade, he acted like a charming prince, manipulated you until you were all his to control and then the real monster came out to play.
You took a very long hot shower and did one thing you couldn’t do for the longest time. You cried, he wasn’t there to scare you into silence anymore. You could finally let out and express all the pain you were feeling as the hot water rained down on you. Once you were done with a very much needed crying session she stepped out and dried off. You grabbed a large oversized t-shirt that you always slept in and put it on before climbing under the covers of your brand new bed. You looked to your night stand and just like Nari said, your new phone was there, plugged in and fully charged. You picked it up and saw that Nari thankfully saved her number in your contacts.
Thank you for everything, really this place is amazing. I don’t know how I’m ever going to repay you.. You sent to her in a text. Soon you could see the dots form as Nari texted a response back.
Hush woman, you don’t need to repay me. You needed a fresh start and a safe place. Sleep well. I’ll text you tomorrow. Xx Nari sent back.
You smiled and sent her a text saying good night before plugging it back into the charger and putting it on the nightstand. You laid back against the soft fluffy pillows and stared at the ceiling, and as you stared your mind couldn’t help but wander to the guy with beautiful chocolate eyes. I wonder if we will ever see each other again. You thought as you replayed the events from earlier in your head. How his eyes sparkled, how soft they looked as they gazed at you. How gentle his voice was. Your cheeks flushed and you shook your head in embarrassment. You literally just escaped an abusive boyfriend and now you’re already thinking about someone else? Control yourself. You mentally scolded as you pulled the covers over your head in shame. Little did you know that the same boy was laying in bed on the opposite side of the wall behind you thinking of you as well.

hey wanna know a thing you can do that is free, requires essentially no effort and will make someone working a shitty job’s day/week/potentially life materially better?
Next time you encounter some kind of problem that requires you to call or chat a customer service line, if the person that you speak with resolves your issue, just send or say something along these lines:
Tumblr media
look, i’ve worked at an inbound call center, and the job is rough on the good days - on the real bad ones, it fucking sucks. It’s inherent to the gig:
Every caller is annoyed and in a bad mood to some degree before they’ve even finished navagating the phone tree because something has already gone wrong enough that they need assistance from a remote customer service employee.
Depending on how bad the wait in the queue is, they’re gonna be angrier by the time they talk to an employee, and there is always a wait, because there’s always a queue, because there will always be fewer reps than there are callers, because if the employeer didn’t chronically understaff the call center, they might theoretically have to pay an employee for the odd 30 seconds of idle time between calls and that is unacceptable.
Meanwhile, the rep is having their clock watched by their supervisor, and they are supposed to make each call as brief as possible because there are so many people waiting in the queue. Their supervisor will monitor average call time and the worker may be disciplined if that number gets too high. The supervisor is also potentially recording any of the rep’s calls without any indication that they’re doing so.
This means that the gig becomes “dealing with an irate customer with a problem that might be incredibly complex as fast as humanly possible without making any errors or indicating anything but polite deference” in case the employer uses a recording of one of the worst calls to support your firing or justify your layoff. You must be constantly on.
Finally, because the whole experience is so unpleasant for everyone involved, compliments or thanks are vanishingly rare. That means you have very little to point as proof of your value to when you’re negotiating for a raise. But in my experience, when you routinely get customer feedback like this? It’s huge. It’s what keeps you employed when the economy takes a nosedive, it’s what gets you raises or promotions during the good times, it makes you less of an interchangeable cog in the machine as far as management is concerned - especially if the customer ensures to either speak to or message the supervisor and make sure they hear your feedback directly, and especially especially if you mention that bit about how you were going to take your business to a competitor but then this specific employee fixed it for you.
Also, you know, it can be the one bright moment in someone’s shitty workday, and trust me, sometimes those moments of kindness are everything.
It’s a shitty system because capitalism is a nightmare and the profit motive is so obviously the cause of just about everything that makes customer support gigs like this hell, but it’s a necessary, incredibly unappreciated job, and until the revolution comes, this is some wildly low effort praxis in furtherance of supporting our fellow workers.
One last note: I don’t think the users of this particular website are the target market for this instruction, but don’t do that shit where you start off by demanding to know where the employee helping you is physically located, we don’t treat people worse just because they aren’t from the same country, and if you’re speaking to them? They’re dealing with the same shit I outlined above whether they’re in Milwaukee or Mumbai. Probably goes without saying, butttttttt you wouldn’t believe how awful people get about that.

JAY HALSTEAD MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Starting somewhere new was always difficult. You held back a sigh as you looked back up at the gates of the college you were starting at.
College.
Somehow or other, you’d managed to survive high school and get into college, something that had seemed so far fetched just a few years ago.
A new start was good for you. A sign that you’d put the literal hell of high school behind. Here, no one knew you. You didn’t have to walk with your head down or look over your shoulder. But even so, a new environment was daunting.
You turned a corner, so lost in your efforts of trying to breathe normally that you didn’t see the boy who was coming towards you, both your bodies bumping against each other. You stumbled backwards, hearing the thud of the file in your hand fall to the ground.
“Sorry.”
The both of you spoke at the same time and you glanced up, looking into kind green eyes, framed by short dark brown hair.
The boy in front of you offered a smile, bending to hand you your file.
“Freshie?” He asked, his eyes not missing the welcome file you were carrying.
You nodded with a small smile.
“Maybe I’ll see you around, then.” He said, glancing at his watch before he took off in another direction like he was late, but not before flashing you another smile.
Your eyes followed him a little curiously before you hurried towards the auditorium where you were supposed to be.
Tumblr media
You knew it wouldn’t be that easy.
You’d sat through informative lectures, jotting down notes. But for some reason, schools were really unforgiving towards introverts. Ice breakers and self introductions to top it off before the person in charge of the session explained that they were trying something new this year.
“Each of you have been assigned a buddy, a senior in the major you are taking.”
For a moment, you thought you were dreaming. Maybe you hadn’t left high school yet. Why the hell did anyone need a buddy in college? When would schools learn that they needed to let introverts live?
“Hey.” A guy’s voice reached your ears at the same time you felt someone tap your shoulder. “I think I’m your…” His voice trailed off as you turned and the both of you stood there blinking at each other.
“Hey again.” He finally said, a smile forming on his face.
And you recognized him - the guy you’d practically collided into on your way here.
You gave him an awkward smile.
“I’m Jay.”
You glanced down at the paper you had in your hand, that had the name and contact information of your buddy - Jay Halstead.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t that bad, you thought, as you glanced up at Jay who was walking next to you.
You figured that after the first day or two, you probably wouldn’t see much of Jay anymore. But it was weirdly comfortable having him around or accost you between classes, and Jay seemed to take his buddy status very seriously.
Which was why he was now walking next to you, as you made your way through the school.
“Jay?” You interrupted him in the middle of his sentence about one of the buildings in the far corner and he glanced down at you. “You don’t have to do this, you know?”
Jay raised an eyebrow. “Do what?”
“Look, all the other seniors or buddies have already left the freshmen to their own devices. You don’t have to… to force yourself to do this, alright?”
A small frown formed on Jay’s face, like he was confused.
You shrugged. “I’m just saying…”
“Well it’s not my fault I take things seriously.” You could hear the mild teasing in his voice and you glanced up at him.
Jay smiled down at you. “Relax, I’m not gonna eat you alive. I just thought we could be friends.”
You blinked back at him, the last word settling in your mind like a foreign language.
“No?” He asked, and even you could hear the hint of seriousness behind the teasing in his voice.
You just smiled with a small shake of your head, your voice quiet. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Good.” Jay said, smiling. “Shall we grab a coffee or something? I’ll show you a nice place.”
You were about to say no when you froze.
The girls crossing the path just up ahead were familiar faces, faces you’d rather forget.
And yet the memories that flashed through your head made you feel like you were reliving it all over again. Humiliation as they taunted and laughed at you, the burning sear when your ankle had twisted the wrong way once, the desperation to hide from them only giving them more ammunition to torture you.
You exhaled, trying not to let it show even as you dipped your head, letting your hair fall across your face.
“Hey, you alright?”
You didn’t answer him and Jay’s eyes flicked ahead to the girls that were laughing, and even the way they walked seemed to tell Jay something.
“Come on.” He said quietly, his hand closing around your wrist before he took you in the opposite direction away from them.
Tumblr media
Jay had taken you back along the way you’d originally come from, past the building you normally had lectures in, and towards one of the smaller buildings in the back, taking you right up to the roof.
“You don’t have to talk about it, or say anything. But it felt like you needed this.” Jay said quietly, his eyes looking outwards. “You can call it a hideout, I guess. No one else really comes here.”
Both of you stood there in silence for a while, seeming to be cut off from the rest of the school that was wandering down below, the wind gently blowing through your hair and you exhaled.
The silence was actually comfortable.
You glanced back at him and for some reason, felt the urge to talk to someone else, for the first time in your life.
So you broke the silence. “I had a hard time in high school.”
You could feel Jay’s eyes on you even though you weren’t looking at him any longer but all he said was, “That was them, wasn’t it?”
You glanced up, before you gave him a small smile.
“Stupid, isn’t it?”
Jay turned to face you now, your eyes meeting. “Hey, listen. You don't have anything to worry about. There’s one thing here that your high school didn't have.”
You cocked your head to the side without asking him a direct question.
Jay smiled. “Me.”
You couldn’t help the smile that formed across your face, even though he was being a bit of an idiot. “Thank you, Jay.” You glanced around the empty roof as if to make a point. “For sharing this with me.”
Both of you exchanged a smile and fell back into a comfortable silence.
Change was scary, but sometimes change also came with new surprises.

[prev!] [next!]
in the previous part:
since you were quite free for the rest of the day, you plopped down onto your heavenly bed and decided to research the company you were gonna work for. you already knew a ton about Ethereal Inc, you just wanted to look random stuff up, plus you were bored as hell. you were doing some digging around the web, and you- HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT! HE'S A MODEL!? AT REMINISCENCE!? OH MY FUCKING GOD I MIGHT HAVE TO WORK WITH HIM! yeah, and you really didn't know how to feel about it. there were pros and cons, aka you having to work with a gorgeous noble hot as fuck man who's name was apparently yoon jeonghan, however, he might be too embarrassed from this morning's events, and may refuse to work with you. were you just overthinking things? it's all a possibility, but you never know.
-------
after doing a shit ton more research, you felt like you knew enough about the company for a newly-hired employee. since it was around 6 pm and you were feeling hungry, you decided to go out and have dinner, but since you didn't know where, you just decided to wing it. you (reluctantly) left the luxury of your bed, and left as quickly as you could since your stomach was getting impatient. you marveled in the fresh air the moment you got outside, (a/n: yes, be like the reader and go touch grass) looking around for possible restaurants to quell your unbearable hunger.
soon, you find a suitable place to eat, checking its reviews online because even though the place may look fine, and the food may look fine, food poisoning is not fine, and you'd rather not risk bombing your toilet and be stuck with food poisoning so soon before your first day. walking in looking like a disheveled-zombie-who-also-looked-like-they-just-endured-the-wrath-of-a-mad-artist-who-was-also-a-nature-enthusiast is highly unpreferred. but, aside from that, after a quick reassurance that the restaurant was trustworthy and ordered your food, you made a note-to-self saying damn, this restaurant isn't actually that bad. soon, you got tapped on the shoulder by some not-so-random person named yoon jeonghan,
"hi, you're y/n right? you probably know who i am already," he asked sheepishly, and you nodded, remembering your fun encounter from before,
"that's me! and i must say, wow you're everywhere," you nodded and smiled when you turned around, which made jeonghan let out a light laugh,
"i am, indeed," he smiled too, "anyways, you know what happened this morning-"
"how many times do i have to tell you? it's fine, don't worry about it," you cut him off,
"hey, listen to me, you didn't let me finish,"
"ok, continue," you raised an eyebrow,
"yeah, so my manager told me to come find you because he told me that 'you bumped into your stylist and makeup artist whos gonna start on monday' and told me where you were, so...yeah, here i am,"
"so, we're gonna be working together?" you asked for clarification, which in the end, affirmed your worst fears. however, it also made you suddenly think, maybe this won't be so bad, leaving you a little confused,
"basically," jeonghan nodded,
"awesome," you smiled,
"ok, that's all, i'll leave you alone now. enjoy your food!" he waved bye as he walked away, so you decided to continue eating your food, not noticing the happy little grin on his face as he walked away.
————

🪐 no celestial ; kanallen
— chapter three
"Kanata was a poor little angel that heaven couldn't help. He'd always been a tough one, not trusting anyone but his little brother Nayuta, the only person that ever made him feel love. Growing up by themselves, he did everything in his power to protect his sick brother, things that dirtied his holy hands. "It's for a good cause though", he thought. But it wasn't enough, and Nayuta died soon after.
Kanata's soul was completely spent. He became unable to feel love, and adding to his dirty dealings that soon were found out, he got cast out of heaven. Fallen on Earth with his wings blackened, he felt so lost and empty he thought he could've just died.
But a random encounter with a very annoying, persistent, stupid redhead human boy would've made him discover love again."

Allen was finally back to his apartment, tired and with his mind clearly elsewhere. It was almost 3 AM. While he was trying really hard to be as quiet as possible, the lights in the living room were suddenly turned on.
"Where the hell were you!?"
Standing there was Anne, arms crossed and a scowl on their face. Hajun was behind them, looking immovable as always.
"Do you have any idea how late it is? I thought you fell asleep in front of your laptop!" Anne whispered-shouted, getting closer to Allen looking at him inquisitively. They might look cute and all but God, were they scary when angry.
"Sorry... I just took a detour when coming here. Tonight's soft breeze is so relaxing..." Allen replied, smiling softly with his head lowered. For some reason, he couldn't tell them about his encounter in the park. Well, he'd probably never see Kanata again anyways, would he?
Anne kept looking at him weirdly, as if they were trying to spot a lie, but in the end they accepted his answer. "Well nevermind, it's too late for a discussion now. We have school tomorrow so we'd better head to bed" they said yawning, and went towards their room. Hajun, who had been silent the whole time, got closer to Allen. "Don't go wander so late ever again, alright? Because if you don't get up in time for class the next day, we're leaving you here" he whispered, flashing a smile that made Allen gulp in fear.
"Understood."
Probably half an hour had passed, and Allen still had his eyes fixed on the ceiling of his room. He just couldn't stop thinking about what happened that night. For some reason, he was instantly attracted to that kid, as if he was put under some spell. He felt like he couldn't leave him alone. Behind the rage in those galaxy-colored eyes he saw so much suffering, one he couldn't ever imagine. Behind that steel barrier he put in front of his heart, he could feel his loneliness. He wasn't able to understand why Kanata would force himself to deny that despite everything.
Frustrated, he got up and sat in front of the window, gazing at the shining moon.
"How can I go beyond that wall of yours?"
— ☾ —
"...Allen? Hello? Earth to Allen!"
With a gasp, Allen paused the music in his headphones and raised his head from his songwriting notebook. He was faced with a pouting Anne, who was sitting across from him at one of the university's cafeteria tables.
"Huh? What is it...?"
"Look, I know you always get invested when doing anything that has to do with hiphop, but you've been really out of it for the past week. I've been calling you for five whole minutes!" they said, exasperated.
"Are you okay? You haven't even had your lunch yet" Hajun pointed to the ramen sitting beside the notebook, "We have class in fifteen minutes, so hurry up please. I don't want to be late because of you." he said, sipping on his coffee.
"Don't worry, I'm okay! It's just that I'm having trouble with this one... I haven't gotten much sleep lately either" Allen smiled, "I'm gonna finish lunch quickly, you guys can go already!"
Anne and Hajun took their bags. "We're waiting for you in the hallway, alright?"
"Sure thing! See you there!"
— ☾ —
Hajun and Anne walked, an awkward silence filling the air.
"So..." Anne started, looking at the boy beside them, "Have you also noticed something weird about Allen, lately?"
"Of course I did. He's awful at lying and keeping secrets, he wears his heart on his sleeve after all." Hajun said, "It all started when he came home late the other day..."
"Yeah. He always looks like there's something on his mind but he won't tell us! Ugh, it's so frustrating!" Anne pouted again, slightly gripping their hair, "I know he doesn't want us to worry... but if something is troubling him I don't wanna leave him alone!" they said, closing their hands in a punch, resoluted.
"Oh Anne, you're so cute~" Hajun teased playfully at the little display of protectiveness from Anne. "Shut up! I know damn well you'd do the same for him, even though you pretend not to!" they replied while crossing their arms.
"I wonder?" he giggled, while his eyes confirmed Anne's words.
— ☾ —
"Guys, I'm gonna head out for a bit to breathe some fresh air! I'll be back for dinner!"
Allen sprinted towards the park. There was one in a million possibilities that Kanata would still be there, but he wanted to see that with his own eyes. He hadn't stopped thinking about their conversation for the whole week, he tried to pour his feelings on a piece of paper like he always did, but something was missing. He thought that seeing Kanata would've cleared up his mind a bit.
The park was already almost empty when he got there, most people were already heading back home or going to eat somewhere; he immediately reached the most hidden part, where he was sure Kanata would be hiding, then wandered slowly to catch him, but to no avail.
"Tch. You're here again."
Allen turned around, eyes widened.
"You're still... here?" he said, looking over at the boy. His once white clothes got dirtier than the time before, his long hair a bit tousled, his eye bags bigger, his skin paler. Allen's heart was hurting. "Why does he keep doing that to himself?" he thought.
"Not that I could be anywhere else. I'm too tired to walk around this huge city" Kanata sat on a bench, "Didn't I tell you to fuck off, the other day? But you still came to me... you're really that stupid, huh."
His piercing gaze intimidated Allen slightly, but he still stepped forward. No matter what, he had to make his words reach the boy.
"Well... I just wanted to see you. You've been on my mind for a while" he said shyly, looking somewhere else, "And I still have a promise to keep after all. I really wanna understand you better."
"The only thing you gotta understand is that I wanna be left alone and yet you keep annoyin' me and bein' a creep. So I'm gonna tell you again, fuck off."
Allen looked at him properly and clenched his fists. There it was, that huge wall in front of his heart again. He didn't want to forcefully pry into Kanata's past, but he also didn't like standing there and watching him suffer. That boy surely didn't deserve it, despite what he said.
"I'm not going anywhere. Why do you want me not to get close to you? I'm not scared of you..." he got a bit closer, approaching him steadily but still not too much, "And no matter how much you push me away, I'll come back, 'cause I know deep inside... you don't wanna be alone. I know the loneliness in your heart, I know the pain-"
"...You don't know shit about me!!"
Kanata stood up, gritting his teeth. He pushed Allen, who only moved slightly. "Who do you think you are? Thinkin' you know me oh so well to make such stupid assumptions. You don't know all the shit I went through, the reasons why I ended up like this..." he said shivering, "You don't know why I deserve... all of this..."
"All I know is that you don't deserve it! I can feel you're not a bad person, and no matter what you did, there's always a second chance! The world is full of possibilities!"
"You're so naive it's pathetic... is your head filled with flowers and butterflies? Only the gifted ones are given second chances. If you've gone once through the mud, you're stuck in the dirt forever." Kanata wasn't looking at Allen anymore, the latter's eyes too intense they made him flinch. "Wake the fuck up, Suzaku. This is the real world, a fuckin' pile of garbage!"
Allen's gaze softened, but still let his tenacity flow out. "Well... if you put it like that, then I'm gonna prove you wrong. I will be the one to give you a second chance!" he said smiling proudly, "How about you move in with me and my roommates? Don't worry, we'll give you lots of personal space! The apartment is big after all and-"
"...He said what!?"
"Anne, you should lower your voice..."
Allen heard some not so muffled voices behind the bushes and immediately turned around.
"Anne... Hajun...!?"

The Attic Expedition AU
(never heard of this in my life, so... you get this LMAO)
Hook's seen some pretty bad hoarders before, but this...this reaches a whole new level. He surveys the attic, shoved to the brim with so much junk he can't even identify most of it, as his stomach sinks down to his feet. He so is not going to make it out of Louisiana before mosquito season starts.
"Yeah," Ricky says. He winces, but he does not look nearly as apologetic as he should. "This'll be a tough one." He slaps Hook on the back. "Good luck, rookie; we'll call in about a week and see how you're doing."
"I hate you," Hook tries, weakly, which is thoroughly ignored as Ricky tromps back down the steps. He turns back to the mess. Jesus, he's probably going to be buried alive when this shit falls on him.
The first day, he clears out barely a square foot of space and nearly fills the dumpster they'd hauled in. That night, he has to call to get the collection company to come empty it. The second day, he gets a little further, but still hasn't found anything valuable. It's all just junk.
But on the third day, he stumbles upon an old chest at the bottom of a heap, covered with dust and decidedly locked. Hook bashes the padlock off with a pair of garden shears.
Problem is, it's empty when he opens it. "The fuck?" he asks to the stale attic air.
"No swearing," says someone from behind him. Hook whirls, hands up in fists in case he needs to start swinging. There's a guy sitting on a precarious pile of old board games on the other side of the room. He waves a little. "Hello."
"What the hell?" Hook gasps. "Where did you come from?"
The guy nods at the box at Hook's feet. "You opened it."
"What?" Hook asks, thoroughly confused.
The guy hops down from the pile, shoving his hands down in his pockets. He's wearing strangely out-of-date clothes, like he went shopping in the 1950s, but he's got blue eyes straight out of a romance novel. He's good-looking, kind of alarmingly so. "It was locked for a reason."
Okay, creepy. Hook bends down to grab for the garden shears again, and holds them up, hoping he looks like he means business. "Don't come any closer. I'll cut your fingers off."
"Tough guy," the man says. He raises one hand, waggling said digits like an invitation.
"Where did you come from?" Hook demands.
"I already told you," is the answer, along with a shrug. "As for all the other ones you want to ask, yes, I'm definitely dangerous. Can't you tell?"
"You look normal, dude. Nice vintage threads."
This seems to surprise him. The man puts a hand to his face, and then, when he doesn't encounter what he apparently thinks should be there, another. His eyes widen. "Huh. That's a first."
"What am I supposed to be seeing?" Hook asks.
"The demon." The man stares at him, no longer menacing his way forward. "No one's ever seen past that."
These riddles are getting obnoxious. Hook's got a job to do. "What does that mean?"
"I...don't know." The man huffs out a little laugh. "I'm, uh, Danhausen."
"Is that a name?" Hook asks.
"It's the one I've been using since I turned, so, yes. Normally it fits better."
"Sure, right." Hook puts the shears down. He's reasonably sure at this point the guy isn't going to attack him. "Well, I've got a lot of work ahead of me, so..." He gestures at the mess still clinging to every corner of the attic.
The guy, Danhausen, looks around, almost like he's seeing everything for the first time. "I'd say so."
"You gonna help, or just stand there?"
Danhausen blinks owlishly at him. "Help?"
"Yeah, dude. Would be nice if you could assist in some way, y'know?"
"Well, I guess...why not?" Danhausen grabs for the nearest box, and they work quietly for the next few hours, as Hook checks every ten minutes or so to make sure he's still there and that he hasn't turned into some kind of a demon. (He never does. Hook takes him out for tacos at the end of the day, and it's the weirdest not-weird date he's ever been on.)

HELLO, NEIGHBOR.
modern!violet x fem!reader
next part: part two
warnings: language, bestie!caitlyn, awkwardness, grumpy!violet, enemies to lovers?
blurb: you could thank your friendly realtor for finding the best apartment in the city. you could also thank her for your foul tasting encounter with your neighbor. thanks cait.
author’s note: i’m in desperate need for vi like rn. y’all know a love a cute mini-series. this ain’t a one stop shop over here. i just don’t know how many at this given moment :)) i might not even be mini... it could be legit.... we’ll see.
▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇
Moving as an adult was no fun — it was actually completely boring.
The fun part was the apartment hunting. Not so much the comparing of prices, but the imaginative part. Where you visualized yourself living your life inside of that apartment — all while you took the tour. However, you have now reached the moving in process. Unpacking all of your boxes, and actually moving into your new place.
Which, by far, was the worst part.
Cardboard boxes nearly covered the entire floor plan of the apartment. Your furniture wasn’t going to be delivered until next week — so it was just going to be you and those goddamn boxes, and a blow up mattress.
Thankfully, your friend had scheduled to help your for the next few days. Oh, and she was your realtor — Caitlyn Kiramman. Probably, one the best real-estate agents in the city.
“Let’s just crack open a bottle, and start unpacking — make this more enjoyable.”
“Crack open a bottle of what?”
Caitlyn grins, sporting her charming smile as she waltzes over to the kitchen in her comfortable house slippers — the ones she carries in her purse. The portables. The kitchen was damn near empty, just filled with a ton of boxes. However, when she’d arrived she came bearing gifts.
Pulling out two deep olive green bottles from her purse, she jumped on her toes excitedly. Two bottles of merlot. “Crack open these babies. One for you, one for me.”
You hum, trotting towards her. “What exactly did you mean by... Enjoyable? Wine drunk on a Tuesday, when I should be unpacking my things?” You raised your eyebrows, digging into a box. Sounds of crumbling echoed off the walls as you tossed out the protective paper. Reaching inside, you plucked two crispy clean wine glasses.
The blue-haute designed, taking the portable cork remover from her bag. She popped out both the corks, starting to pour your glass. “I’m just trying to help you relieve some stress, y/n. Moving in is rough — I would know.” She spoke, while pouring the bitter substance into the bowls.
Taking your moderately filled glass, you held it properly by the stem. “Why don’t we just drink a bit, slowly unpack — just relish in sealing the deal on this amazing flat!”
She always did have a celebratory mind — her profession was right up her league. Apprehensive, you take a few seconds to loosen your shoulders. Clinking the bowl of your glass, you completely give in. “Let’s do this your way.” You sip the substance, allowing it’s bittersweet flavor to dance along your tongue. The aged grape juice quenched your thirst, while sending slight buzz to your brain.
And that’s what the rest of the night was going to look like. Buzzing grape juice slipping down your throat. Glass after glass. Not so much unpacking, though. Because once music was added to the pair of you, all the priorities were out the window. You swung each other around, not forgetting to take sips of the deep cherry wine.
Next thing you know, both bottles were empty and the two of you were laying in starfish position on the wooden floor. Old Katy Perry songs blasting through Caitlyn’s portable speaker. I kissed a girl — to be exact. Which was really on brand for the two you, you guys just happened to enjoy it way more than Katy.
“How the hell am I gonna put all these things awayyyy?” You drawled, whining with a pouty face. The wine didn’t help your want for a quick fix. If you had the power to snap your fingers and all of your belongings be put in place — you’d snap in a hurry. “The merlot wasn’t a good idea, Caitlyn.”
Her mouth fell open, swiveling her head towards you. Her blue strands spread along the floor. “My bad for caring about my best friends livelihood.”
“Livelihood? I’m just exhausted, Cait, that’s normal.”
“Not to mention the fact that you’ve been oh, so, lonely for the past year and a half.”
You sit up abruptly, deepening your eyebrows. “There’s nothing wrong with being lonely.” Shrugging defensively, you stand up, crossing your arms over your chest. Caitlyn mirrored you, standing up. Katy Perry was still playing in the background, causing the two of you to yell over her lyrics. “There’s nothing wrong with being alone, but there is something wrong with being lonely.”
There’s something wrong?
Sure, you’ve been alone for... Awhile. Alone as in, without a significant other, or even trying to look for one. You’ve had hookup’s in the past, but it’s been a very dry season lately. With working yourself to the bone, just to be comfortable enough for this apartment — busyness has conquered you. There was no chance for free time to... Not be lonely.
“Oh, so... You’re not lonely?” You deepen your eyes, delivering an accusatory glare.
She straightened her posture, crossing her arms over her chest. “No... I’m freely dating. And I suggest you do the same — it’s fun.”
“Or more stressful.”
“Trust me, y/n, it’s not. As long as you go at it the right way.” She grinned, exposing her little gapped tooth. Caitlyn approached you, placing her hands on your shoulders. “You’re not worth all this stagnancy. You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever encountered — inside and out. And it would be selfish of me to keep that all to myself.”
You furrowed your eyebrows, accepting her complimenting words. The blue-haired was just coming from a concerned place. She’s been noticing how hard you’ve been working, yet giving barely any time for play. No pain, no gain — right? “Thanks, Cait.” You looked up at her tall figure, as she pulled your into a tight hug. Her long arms wrapping around yours shoulders, firmly. Laying her head atop of yours, placing a short kiss on your forehead.
She hummed against your hair. “I love you, y/n, alright? I just want the best for you.”
“I love you, too — and, I know, I know.” You snicker, linking your wrists together along her defined spine. “It’s just... Nobody likes to be called lonely, and that it’s wrong. Even if it is.” You pouted, scrunching up your eyebrows to maintain that firm demeanor.
She pulled away, keeping her hands on the shoulders. “Yes, I know... The truth hurts.” Caitlyn shrugged, a playful grin pulling onto her lips. Squinting your eyes, the corner of your lips curling in preparation to make a petty comment. A knock at your door sounds above the music. It was tired, as if the knocking had been already going on — even though, this was the first you’ve heard of it.
“Hm. Who could that be?” You muttered, mostly to yourself. But, of course, Caitlyn heard. She grinned, raising her eyebrows. Gesticulating for you to run and answer the door promptly. This was your very first knock on your recently purchase apartment.
You scurry to the door, after hearing the knock once more. “Coming! Gimmie one second!” You pushed through the big boxes — some that were open, some that were still taped shut. The blue-haired lowered her speak immediately.
Finally, getting to the door, with a anxious breath leaving your lips. You released the chain lock, then flicking the deadbolt to the left to pull it open. As if it was all in slow motion, the door had opened revealing a persons back.
They had short magenta hair, nearly red — you weren’t sure. Sporting a fitted wifebeater that was slightly see through — so you could see the faint details of the dark ink etched in their fair skin, alongside the dusted freckles on the backs of their shoulders — not mention the obvious strength in them. They also wore a pair of grey sweatpants, leading to a light pink pair of bunny slippers.
Too busy sizing the stranger up, they’d pivoted catching you eyeballing their muscular frame. With raised eyebrows and bits of confusion in your eyes, beside the obvious attraction. The stranger deepened their dark eyebrows, piercing their powdery blue eyes at you — no. Through you. “Runeterra to new neighbor...” They waved their hand in front of your face, cutting you out of your state of awe.
Their voice was slightly raspy and even — practically music to your ears. They happened to be a few inches taller than you, so their head tilted slightly downward — enforcing their natural intimidation.
Popping back into the real world, you immediately apologize. “Oh, yeah... Hi, sorry.” You nervously giggled, leaning onto your unstable door. Connecting your hip to the the thin edge, you rocked with the door. Until it metaphorically shoved you off, causing your trip on your own feet. You sniffed, pushing the stray pieces of hair from your face — if there was any — clearing your throat.
Raising their eyebrows, they pushed a faux grin on to their lips. “Hi.” Ugh, it was so forced. “You’re music is too loud. Turn it down — the whole apartment complex doesn’t have to know that your gay.”
You couldn’t help but drop your jaw, furrowing you’re eyebrows. Blinking at the stranger slowly, trying to gauge the situation. “Unless you want everybody to know — then, props to ‘ya.”
“Or... I just like Katy Perry.” You denied, because... You’re a denier. Of course, you’re gay and are fully attracted to women — you also happened to like Katy Perry. Specifically, I kissed A Girl. And that’s no coincidence at all.
“‘California Girls’ and ‘I kissed A Girl’ playing back to back... Hm. Seems pretty gay to me.”
“Do you just come knocking on random people’s doors questioning their sexuality? That’s not very friendly.”
They chuckled to themselves, running a hand through their thick magenta strands. “Why would I want to be friendly when the same songs have been playing on repeat for the past four hours.” Her voice began getting sterner and sterner. “And, this might come as a shocker to you, but people need sleep. People have important things to do, and I happen to be one of those people.”
“So, I would prefer that you cut the slumber party shit, and start again tomorrow — when everyone is awake.”
Your face was stuck in a confused and appalled expression. How could someone be so bold and apathetic to someone who just moved in. What happened to common courtesy? Even if the music was too loud — you just moved in. A simple complaint would’ve been appreciated.
Feeling a presence over your shoulder, you peer over to the blue-haired stallion positioning against your doorframe. “No need to be so snappy, Violet. That’s no way to treat your new neighbor.”
“Oh, Caitlyn, of course you’d be behind this.”
“Whatever that means.” She retorted, rolling her royal eyes. “y/n, Violet — Violet, y/n.” The blue-haired quickly introduced, glancing between the two of you. “She’s a lot nicer when she’s not sleep deprived.” Caitlyn looked to you, trying assure you with her soft blue irises. You were far past intimidation — you were just annoyed at her short-circuited annoyance.
Violet rolled her eyes, stuffing her hands into the pockets of her sweats. The muscles in her eyes slightly flexing at the stretch and pull. “Yeah, I’ve just got a big day tomorrow — so, music off... Please.” Her steel eyes glanced between the two of you, before beginning her short journey to the apartment beside yours. “If I hear anything short of cherry chapstick... I’m gonna give Caitlyn a bad review.”
She gasped, poking her head through the door. “You wouldn’t!”
“I would.” Violet squints her eyes, a slight smirk spreading her scarred lips. Then, her cool eyes flickered to you. Who was barely standing in the hallway, with your arms crossed under your chest. “Nice meeting you, new neighbor.” Sending you another fake smile.
Then, she slipped into her apartment, slamming the door shut behind her. Hearing the lock and chain of her front door.
Your eyes trail back up to your friend, who had her lips tucked between her teeth. Pivoting in her slippers, to avoid your piercing eye contact. “Having a grumpy neighbor wasn’t in the advertisement, Cait.” You shut the door, locking all the necessary locks.
“My job is to embellish, y/n. What type of embellishing would I be doing if I admitted to grumpy neighbors — that’s just for you to find out, love.” Caitlyn fanned her hand, threatening to burst into a boisterous laugh. “And, she’s not even that grumpy. It’s just late.” She paused, leaning on the counter of your kitchen. “Also... She’s kind of fit... Dontcha’ think?”
Now, that was something you could mutually agree on. She was absolutely stunning, good lord.
Wait.
You squint your eyes, picking apart her hiding smile. The constant pushing of her hair behind her ears — Caitlyn is up to something. “Dontcha’ think — what are you up to?” You mock, stalking quickly to the kitchen, standing across from her on the other side for he counter.
Caitlyn shrugs, blinking plainly. “Me? Up to something? Never!” She pulls out a few snacks from her bag, placing them on the counter. “Want to watch The L Word on my laptop and audio record our commentary?”
Her quick change of the subject was too much of a good one to pass up — this conversation will be coming back around. Caitlyn Kiramman wasn’t as slick as she thought that she was.
But, how could you resist Shane McCutcheon?
“Absolutely. Anything to distract me from these awful boxes.”

Swirling the third drink in your hand you heave yet another depressed sigh. You are so tired that you feel like you can just slump on the counter and pass out. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to stop for a drink, you alcohol riddled brain thinks.
The plans you had with Katelyn was cancelled last moment; she called to tell you that her thesis submission date was moved forward and so she couldn't hang out with you tonight. You're in the middle of an existential crisis quite literally, the too many part time jobs yet still lack of money and copious amounts of study getting to you. Staring hard at your drink you contemplate if it is worth giving up on college and your dream of becoming an arts major. It sure feels tempting right now, the long hours at the diner and not enough sleep at night proving to be the worst nuisance.
Sighing you put down your drink. It's still early, you should go home and try to catch up on the much needed sleep. You really had no intention of grabbing a drink tonight; you have morning classes tomorrow but you made a last moment decision to stop for a drink on your way back home. You didn't take your usual route to home today, and while trudging through the streets tiredly you came across this bar called Seventeen's. You've heard stories about this place, how it is the home to local gangs and how it's bad people's turf and what not. Your curiosity, probably too much of that made you get inside for a drink even though all the bones in your body ached. The inside is what you expected, nowhere near fancy but dingy, just decent enough. The people inside didn't look friendly and if the chains and tattoos on them gave any indication you'd say the rumours are true; this is the turf of gangs. The drinks taste decent, not the best but not the worst and from the overall look of this place you don't really have a reason to come back.
You're about to stand up from your stool when a large, clammy hand grabs your wrist out of nowhere, making you jump. "Hey sexy, sit down. Let me buy you a drink," the owner of the hand, a large, tattooed middle aged man slurs making your nose scrunch out of disgust. You're wearing nothing that can be called sexy; a plain cardigan and jeans and the way he looks you up and down makes you want to poke his eyes out.
You really shouldn't have come here. Clenching your jaw, you meet his eyes, "What makes you think I'm interested to have a drink with you?"
"Oh come on, why would you be here then, lookin' all nice? Just sit down," the man drawls, an ugly smile on his face. He still hasn't let go of your wrist and it's making you impatient. Looks like you're gonna have to kick his balls tonight. Maybe the self defense classes didn't completely go to waste.
"Get your disgusting hands off me while I'm being nice, sleazeball," you hiss at him, trying to get his hand off. The man stands up growling, "What did you say you bitch?" You're preparing to break his nose when out of nowhere a punch lands on his face that sends him tumbling to the ground. The attacker gets on top of him and twists his arm and you can literally hear a bone snap.
Shit.
"I think she said she is not interested," the man hisses, landing yet another another hit on his face before kicking his groin and getting up. When he turns around and his eyes meet yours, your heart skips a few beats and you almost The man is drop dead gorgeous, someone you would not expect to see here but probably on the cover of a high end magazine. His blond hair is long, crossing the nape of his neck as well as some covering his forehead. What takes your breath away the most is his eyes, the most beautiful pair you've ever seen. They seem to have their own galaxies in them, so deep and mesmerising and decorated with lashes long enough to make you jealous. His dress up, black jacket and jeans, immediately tells you what he is; a gang member.
"You should get home, lady," He speaks in a no nonsense tone, his face cold as ice. But you're offended. "Excuse me? Who are you calling lady? You make it sound like I'm old." You puff your cheeks and cross your arms, trying to appear intimidating. "Besides I had the situation under control, you didn't need to butt in." The man keeps looking at you with that no nonsense look, his features displaying annoyance if you are right and he's clearly not intimidated. The dude on the floor grunts and makes an effort to get up, only to be kicked by your saviour once more. "Hey Mingyu, get him out of here. What was this piece of trash doing here anyway?" The man orders to someone before turning to look at you, "Do you live far?"
"Uh- no, a ten minutes walk from here maybe," you reply unsurely, surprised at his question. The blond haired man nods before grabbing your wrist, "I'll walk you home. Hurry up, lady." You have a feeling he's purposely calling you that and though you start following him out of the bar, you make grunts of protest.
"Oh yeah, why? Trying to find out my address? So you can come later and hurt me like that guy?" You would not be this brazen if it wasn't for the alcohol in your system, after all the man next you isn't a friendly one if the rumours are true. The man raises a brow at you, "Did you do something that requires me to beat you up?" You hiccup at his serious tone. Does he not get a joke? He lets go of your hand now that you're at a safe distance from the bar but still stays close enough to you as your steps are rather stumbling and messy. You aren't fully drunk but your body is tired and feels like will shut down any second.
You really need some sleep.
"You know I'm not that drunk. You don't have to walk me home." You complain. "I'm walking you home because this isn't a nice place you should be alone at night. What happened earlier could happen again." He says not looking at you. "Mhmm," you keep on trudging behind him, "Thank you so much for your kind gesture, sir." You mock him but he doesn't reply, staring straight ahead, completely ignoring you as he walks quietly. In silence you two walk the rest of the path, before finally stopping as your apartment comes into view. At this point it feels like your bones will break and you will plop down on the concrete any second, but you manage to keep standing. "Well, thanks for walking me home." You shift your weight from one foot to another. "And for helping me back there." He shrugs coolly, a bored expression on his face. He's turning to walk away when you call, "Hey- I didn't get your name."
"What do you need it for?" He side glances at you. You shrug, "I don't know. You helped me so I thought it'd be nice to know your name." "You don't need to. Go inside, lady." He says, his tone final and starts marching away. You wait a couple moments before yelling, "Asshole!" and quickly rushing inside your building, partly afraid he's gonna come back.
You won't be surprised if you get killed tonight.
-
"So you are telling me Choi Seungcheol walked you home?" Katelyn screams in your ear, jolting up from her seat, earning glares from other people at the library in the process. "That's his name?" You whisper-yell, grabbing her hand to pull her back down. "I'm guessing from the blond hair you said," Katelyn shrugs. "Uh huh." You mean back in your chair, "He was hot though."
"Is that seriously all you have to say?" Katelyn whines exasperatedly. "No, I mean, if it wasn't for the way he dresses or talks I would have thought he's a model or something." You murmur.
"Are you sure he didn't hurt you?" Katelyn questions. "Hell no!" You frown. "He saved me from that creepy old dude. I was surprised too. I wish I didn't drink so much, I could have gotten a better look at his face," you sigh. "Seriously?" Katelyn raises a brow at you.
"Girl, you should have seen him. His aura and the way he carried himself was...so hot." You grin to yourself. Katelyn watches you like you've grown two heads. "Are you trying to tell me you have a crush on that gangster?" You smile sheepishly, "Maybe, I mean it's harmless. He was broody yet charming and I'm a girl so.... Also, it's not like he likes me too and is gonna come running whenever I ask him to bang me." You mutter.
"Oh he's gonna break your bones and bang your skull against a wall. That's what he's gonna do."
"Come on! Maybe he isn't so bad. Maybe the rumours are just rumours. Maybe he just looks intimidating and dresses up like that and people thinks he's a gangster." "Really? His name is on every bad thing that happens around here. From illegal racing to murders. Do you know that people say he has killed too?" "Like I said, rumours," you shrug being your stubborn self. Katelyn holds her hands up in surrender, "You know what? It doesn't matter. I'm glad you're alive so let's just put this behind us, shall we?" You don't reply but wiggle your brows at her, a conspirational look on your face. "Oh no, don't look at me like that," Katelyn warns. "Let's go to that bar tonight. Please?" You give her your best puppy eyes. "What are you? Fucking crazy? You wanna get killed?" She whisper-yells, scowling at you. "No. I just wanna take another look at him. Without the alcohol in my system you know. Besides, the place isn't that bad." You reply.
"Well then get killed by yourself. I'm not coming with you."
"I'll help you with your papers for the rest of the semester."
"Shit."
-
"Well, looks like your wish won't be coming true," Katelyn muses chugging down her fourth glass as you keep playing with your first one. It's nearing an hour since you've come to the bar and there has been no sign of the man you desperately seek. The place is exactly like it was the other day, filled with people who you wouldn't want to mess with.
Yet here you are.
"Let's call it a night," Katelyn sighs. "We're just wasting our time." You know that too but you don't want to leave; not just yet. You are well aware that this is just pathetic but you've this crazy urge to see that man once again. You don't know why you feel this way; you never felt like this before. Why are thinking yourself to death about a complete stranger? Has some kind of spell been casted on you?
"Yeah, let's get going," you murmur half heartedly. You help your friend stand up as she's a little wobbly on her feet and together you make your way through the door. "Should we call a cab?" You ask Katelyn. She shakes her head no and you nod, you arms wrapped around hers to support her in case she looses her balance. You start stepping away from the bar and towards the road to her place until a noise from behind makes you stop in your tracks.
"Did you hear that?" You ask, whipping your head behind. There's no one around and the street is mostly dark other than the light flashing from the name of the bar. You hear the sound once again and this time you can locate where it's coming from. There's an abandoned playground at the back of the bar and you've a feeling that's the source.
Katelyn hisses as she sees you step towards there. "What are you doing!"
"Didn't you hear that?"
"Yes I did. That's why I say we leave!" You ignore her and cautiously keep on stepping forward, mentally cursing yourself for wearing heels. Katelyn follows behind you murmuring all kinds of warnings. "You know curiosity killed the cat, right?" She whispers.
You roll your eyes, "Well I'm not a cat. Just- be quiet. It can be nothing." You both move past the bar gingerly and towards the playground at the back. There are old gallons of oil and abandoned materials just around the corner and you two quickly hide among them. It takes you a while to get adjusted to the low light after you poke your head up from the hiding spot.
You're eyes fix on him immediately. His blond hair makes him easily recognisable amid the darkness. There is a few more people around him, all kicking something in the ground. Not something, but someone. The man lying on the ground groans in pain and you realize this is what you both heard. "Shit," You hear Katelyn curse from beside you. "We need to get going." Instead of replying, you keep your eyes trained on the scene unfolding, holding your breath. You're tranced. Seungcheol lands continuous punched on the guy laying below him and after a moment his writhing frame seems to stop moving as it falls limp.
Fuck.
"You know in movies this is the part where people get caught." Katelyn whispers, her voice hoarse and her hand clutching yours in a tugging motion. "Uh-huh. But I can't seem to move. I wonder if he's... really dead." You whisper back. "Are you fucking crazy!" She hisses. "You wanna witness murder?"
Before you can reply you hear a sound that echoes through the empty field and it takes a second for you two to realise that it came from any one of you two. You don't have the time to figure out who made it as you both are crawling away from the playground without looking back, head crouched low to avoid being seen. You don't know if they heard that or if they're coming behind you, you both just keep scrambling, moving until you're past the corner. As soon as possible you both get on your feet and run like the grim reaper is chasing you, stopping only when you are far enough from the bar.
"I am never listening to you again!" Katelyn yells.
-
It's been a good few days since your near death experience and you somehow find yourself in front of that bar once again. You and Katelyn have not brought up that incident after that night. You made yourself believe that it was over and came to a conclusion that it is better to forget that man and leave all of it behind, no matter how much your heart disagreed. But it's easier said than done; you may not mention him out loud but in the back of your mind you think of him. He's like a ghost, haunting you all the time, plagueing your thoughts when you go to bed at night. It felt like he was ever existent and there was an itch in your heart that drove you insane.
Maybe that's why your subconscious brought you here, in front of Seventeen's, once again. You were on your way back home from library and you thought you took your usual route, until you realized you were standing in front of that place. But what is even terrifying is that the man haunting your mind stands in front of the entrance of the bar and you blink a few times to make sure you are not hallucinating. He's leaned against the entrance door, cigarette between his lips and from his pocket he fetches a lighter to light the poison in his mouth.
Damn, lighting up a cigarette never looked this sexy.
He hasn't seen you yet and you contemplate running the other way. That's the sensible thing to do but you, not being a sensible person, start walking towards him. Your footsteps make him look up and notice you and like the last time, there is no expression on his face. It's the same bored yet handsome face except now in daylight you can take a better look at him and this time, you notice a little mole on the left of his face, by his nose. Realising he's gonna stay silent you decide to speak, "Hi... It's me... Do you remember me?" Wow. That's such an intelligent thing to ask.
With the monotoned yet serious expression on his face, he goes, "Why won't I? I don't have Alzheimer's."
So he can joke.
You laugh, an awkward, probably exaggerated laugh. "What are you doing here? Did you not learn your lesson last time?" He cuts to the chase, his voice brassy and deep, almost threatening. You want to roll your eyes. "Who are you to say? I can be wherever I want whenever I want, thank you very much." "Well then, have fun getting in trouble like last time." He's nonchalant as he blows a smoke right past you and stands up straight, turning away. "Wait!" You almost grab his hand, desperate to stop him.
What is wrong with you? Your subconscious slaps her forehead. What are you holding him back for? To say 'hello sir, I think you're hot, can you please put your dick inside me'? Seungcheol turns his head back, his eyebrow cocked up.
Why do you find everything about him so attractive?
"Um...I know your name, Seungcheol." You speak, trying to sound intimidating, like knowing his name gives you some power over him. There's something definitely wrong with you which is why you don't want him to leave just yet and which is why you're stalling time. But it seems to have done the job as he pulls the cigarette out of his mouth and turns towards you, an annoyed look on his face. "How do you know that?" The timbre of his tone is deep and it rakes shivers down your spine. "Well, you've built quite a reputation for yourself so it isn't hard to get your name." You shrug coolly. "Well, if you know so much about my reputation, you should know what I'm capable of." His lone is low, almost threating as he starts to take slow steps towards you making you step back out of reflex.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Maybe you will also end up like the curious cat.
"Oh yes, I know. People have got a lot to say about you," you try to sound unfazed, not meeting his eyes that you feel are burning holes on your face. "What are you doing here, lady?" he asks slowly, pausing between each word and glaring at you as he continues to step forward. You can feel his patience thinning.
"I swear to God if you call me that-"
"What are you doing here?" This time his tone is scary, too scary. It makes you lose the ability to speak for a second as his dark gaze bores into you. He has backed you up against the wall behind you and you swallow. Right, what are you doing here? It probably has something to do with a very hot individual and his insanely attractive aura. Scratch that you are a hundred percent sure it has something to do with the blond haired, enticing man in front of you. He's driving you mad and you need to get your fill of him.
"Go out with me," you state and you are sure you've never spoken words more stupid than that. Internally, you cringe and pray that the ground below you would open and take you straight to the fiery pits.
This is the first time you see some sort of expression come across his face; surprise. He looks utterly shocked and somewhat confused. His mouth opens just a little and he squints at you, "What?"
There's no going back now.
"Go out with me. Let's go on three dates." you say once more, looking him in the eye. He seems to appear even more surprised, a dumbstruck look sitting on his face. He observes you quietly for a while and you can feel the gears in his head shifting. You wonder what he's gonna say next. Or maybe he won't say anything but bang your head on the wall and leave you to die alone. "I'm sorry I'm not following," he looks genuinely perplexed. "I want to go on three dates with you. They say after three dates you can figure out whether you like that person or not and I think I like you so..."
I think I like you.
The biggest understatement of the year.
Seungcheol tilts his head, an amused expression on his face as he studies you, those sharp eyes of his settling on yours, "What is your deal, sweetheart?" He crosses his arms, a brow raised. Sweetheart? That's new. And definitely better than lady. You can't deny how hearing him call you that makes your insides melt. "Nothing. I just want to date you," you shrug, trying to keep your wits together. His proximity is driving you wild; you can sniff a faint smell of cologne and cigarette, him being inches away from you. This time he laughs loudly, a mocking laugh you'd say. "Who sent you?"
Oh my god.
You roll your eyes. "Nobody sent me! Do I look like I'm a gang member or something?" "Then I don't see a reason why you'd want to date me," He states, throwing a challenging look at you.
"What if I said I have a thing for bad boys?"
He snorts. "You don't look the type to date bad boys," he mocks. "Who are you to say that?" You cross your arms. "I want to date you because I think you're hot, okay?" You can not believe you just said that. Looks like you don't have control over your mouth anymore. Warmth spreads throughout your face like a forest fire.
Seungcheol narrows his eyes on you, his tongue poking his cheek as he stands in front of you as if trying to read your mind. After a beat he sighs before looking at you, his eyes becoming darker than usual and his gaze unforgiving. "Hey. Does it look like I'm playing house here? Do you have any idea about the shit I do? The dirty work I do? I don't care if you have a fucking fetish or whatever but this is the last time I'm warning you. I don't want to see you around again. If I see you here once more, you're in fucking trouble," he spits and starts stomping away. His tone is serious and you know very well he is not joking, which is why you use your last resort. You're embarrassed at yourself for being so desperate but at the same time you feel shameless. It has almost turned into a game at this point, you want to make him surrender. That's right, you want him to give in. "You shouldn't be like that with me. I saw you, a few days ago. That night, when you and your friends were beating up that guy...in the playground," you casually stroll to come stand right behind him.
You can't believe you are blackmailing a gangster. Your death must be near.
Seungcheol whips his head back, his eyes glaring at you and you can almost see fire in them. Finally, you got his attention.
"My friend also saw it, we both did. You killed him, didn't you? Me and my friend witnessed a murder. What do you say? Should we go to the station?" You can see his jaw clench and you can't hold back a victorious smirk. Moments pass by as your words hang in the air and the tension between you gets thicker. Yet once more he surprises you, breaking the silence with a chuckle, "Well I killed one person, what makes you think I can't take care of another?"
You swallow.
"Well, my friend already knows so if I go missing you can be sure that the cops will come to you first." You throw back at him.
When did you get so wreckless?
Seungcheol stares at you for a few more seconds before shrugging and moving his hand dismissively, "Well then go tell the cops. I don't give a shit." He starts walking back to the bar leaving you starstruck. He stops and turns towards you before opening the door, "Also, I meant it. I hope I don't see you around. Otherwise I may just have to hurt that pretty face."
-
You don't show up after that.
Mostly because you are embarasssed.
It's been a good while after your last encounter with Seungcheol and you didn't go to the police, obviously. Because you don't have evidence and from what you've heard Seungcheol is pretty influential around here and you don't need to go to an extent to get on his bad side. You're definitely gonna end up dead if you do so, which you don't want just yet.
Classes have just finished and you and Katelyn step out of the classroom together, walking through the hallways and into the main campus. She rambles on about some bad sushi she ate yesterday while your mind remains preoccupied. Maybe you need to get laid. Maybe that'll make you forget about Seungcheol. You just need good dick that's probably why you were so desperate for him.
That's just a stupid lie.
You don't realise Katelyn is calling you until she shakes you by the shoulder and you snap back into reality. You notice her face is as pale as a ghost and following her line of sight your eyes stop on him.
Him. Seungcheol.
What?
You double take, blinking furiously to confirm your vision. He's standing there, in the parking area of your uni, leaned against a convertible Ferrari, a cigarette between his lips. He looks relaxed, like he does this regularly. Students whisper in each others ear while gawking at him curiously. "What did you do!" Katelyn yells. "Nothing!" You hiss back.
"Then why is he here!"
"I don't know!"
Your eyes meet with Seungcheol's and a smirk spreads across his face making you shiver. He stands up straight and tilts his head, an indication for you to come closer to him. "Fuck, he's here for me," you mumble. "Of course he's here for you, dumbass," Katelyn snaps. "Well, if I don't return, you know who killed me." You sigh starting to walk towards him. "Wait- you're going with him?" She asks incredulously.
"Don't worry. I'll keep my phone on. I don't think he's gonna murder me, I mean there are so many witnesses." You inhale deeply, leaving behind a lost looking Katelyn.
Seungcheol says nothing as you stand right in front of him raising an inquisitive brow but he only holds open the door for you to get in. Deciding to follow him you enter the car quietly and a wave of gasps go through the crowd.
There's gonna be talk about this tomorrow.
Seungcheol, still smirking victoriously for some reason rounds the car and gets inside and within seconds you're hitting the road. There's a thick silence for a while, which feels like ages to you. You're overwhelmed, bewildered to say anything; your poor brain still processing what is happening. You're nervous, jittery as you fiddle with you bag and look out on your side, for some reason scared to look at him.
What if he really kills you? He wouldn't, right?
"You're awfully quiet," Seungcheol says matter of factly as he spares you a glance while driving.
"I'm... processing."
"What are you, a robot?"
"Why are you doing this?" You question instead.
"Doing what?"
"Okay, you know very well what I mean. Why are you picking me up from uni all of a sudden? How do you even know I'm a student there?" "I have resources and...you didn't protest at all. You came along nicely," Seungcheol raised a brow at you, a cocky smile on his lips. You don't answer but continue to stare at him, trying to pin him down with your gaze. He finally sighs and pulls the car to a stop by the side of the road, the sudden brake making you slightly jerk in your seat. "I've decided to give you those 3 dates. That's why," He is calm, unreadable and you wonder if this is a prank. Then again, he has no reason to prank you, does he? "Really?" Your voice comes out breathy. "Yes. I thought I'd give you a taste of how it feels to be with someone like me. I can scare people without physically hurting them you know," He says in a menacing tone.
"So what? You're taking me to an underground fight or something?" You question. "Nah, we're keeping it simple today." He smirks as he starts the car again and turns on the radio, an indication that he doesn't want to converse anymore.
Shamelessly you take a good look at Seungcheol; he's dressed in another jacket today paired with a black tee underneath. Today, you notice he has upped his accessory game, his fingers full of rings and chains dangling from his neck. But what catches your attention is a tattoo, something like a dragon and words written in a language you don't understand, peeking from underneath his sleeve. You almost ask about it but decide it'll probably be too much and he wouldn't answer you anyway.
As you do so, in the back of your mind you think you should have dressed better, something cuter, more appropriate for a date rather than a plain blouse and jeans. But then again who knew Choi Seungcheol was gonna show up out of the blue. You're gnawing at your lower lip, lost in your thoughts when the car is pulled to a halt and you realize your ride is over. You're parked in front of a diner called Lacy's and from the vibe that the place is giving, you can tell that this is place where people like him hang out. You raise a questioning brow at Seungcheol who says, "I know it doesn't look fancy but trust me I has some of the best food I've ever eaten." Taking his words for now you quickly type out a text to Katelyn letting her know you're in one piece and get out of the car.
Once you're seated you look around the place which is relatively empty except some men playing pool at the far end. You watch Seungcheol who has gone to the reception booth to place your orders; his posture relaxed as he leans against the counter and talks to the girl standing there. They seem to know each other because their chat takes longer than it should and the girl has a shy, almost flirty smile on her face.
He probably fucks her.
You shake the thought off your head as the gangster comes back and sits in front of you. There's silence for a second as you wonder if you should just ask the questions that run free around your mind. "Are the rumours true?" You blurt out. He's raises a brow.
"About you. You know..."
"Do you want them to be true?" He asks back. "I don't...know," you reply. "Well, I think it depends on each person. If you want it to be true it is true, if you don't it isn't," he shrugs, leaning back in his chair. "Why don't you just give me a straight answer?" you snap. He smirks as if he's having fun but doesn't reply, watching you with his arms crossed. You roll your your eyes, blowing out an exasperated breath. "You know, I haven't seen one like you. Willingly hanging out with dangerous people, going to dangerous places. You say you saw me kill someone yet you're here. You're almost desperate to get in trouble," he observes. "I'm not desperate to get in trouble. I just...I'm just- attracted to you alright?" This is so embarrassing. You need to shut your mouth. "You've been on my mind ever since that night. I wanna see exactly how deep I'm into you." You bite your lip.
That's enough. You will boost his ego through the roof like this.
Seungcheol studies you for a bit before grinning cockily, "Well, if you didn't know, I am trouble baby. Just you being with me might end you up in a mess." Before you can reply, your food is served, that same girl from the booth setting down your plates and looking at Seungcheol for a bit too long with that same stupid smile which he returns. You don't know why but you feel jealous, jealous of whatever these two share, whatever she has with him.
You've lost your mind at this point. You're on a high that is Seungcheol. He has made you forget your morals, made you completely lose your mind. Or maybe you've been too good all your life and seeing him brought out that crazy, thrill seeking part of yourself.
Silently you dig into your food and as Seungcheol said, the food is really good. This is one of the best meatloaf you've ever had and you can't help but moan. Seungcheol watches you with an amused smile before popping a fry in his mouth.
"What's your major?" Seungcheol asks out of the blue.
"Uh- sociology."
"Mmhmm."
You're about to ask him what he studied in college but you assume he probably never went to one so you seal your lips. You wonder what his background is and who his parents are but you don't want to get too personal on the first day. So you ask something else, "How old are you?" He laughs out loud before he deadpans, "Thirty five." "What!" You almost choke.
There's no way he's-
"Why? What did you expect?"
"I... I don't know! A few years older than me? You're kidding right? You don't look thirty five." He has to be bluffing. "And how old would you be?" "You shouldn't ask a woman her age," you try to make a point. "Don't you have any manners?" He smirks,"I don't, sweetheart. To answer your question, I'm twenty eight."
Uh huh.
"Well, I'm twenty one," you mutter under your breath. You don't know if he hears it because he doesn't give any reaction, busy twirling a fry in sauce. The rest of your meal is full of silence as you wonder if your date will end like this; dry and boring. He's awfully silent and seems to be lost in thoughts as he doesn't engage in a conversation. You're about to take your last bite when the silence is broken by him.
"What did you see that night?" He leans over, his elbows resting on the table as he suddenly regards you with a sombre look, his earlier cockiness vanished. His eyes have once again gone dark and his demeanor says he's not being superficial right now. You're caught off guard as you cough loudly, reaching for your glass to take a sip of water. "What?"
"You heard me. What did you see that night? Exactly how much did you see?" He repeats. You're confused. You thought he didn't care about it. He said it didn't matter. So why is he bringing it up now? You've worked hard to push that night in the deepest part of your brain, pretending it didn't happen.
And then suddenly it clicks.
"You!" You point an accusatory finger at him as you catch on to his plan. "You've agreed to go out with me so that you can find out what I saw that night!" Seungcheol groans, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Ugh, just fucking tell me!" He snaps, annoyed that you've found out his little scheme. You scoff, "I thought you said you didn't care? Besides it's not like I'm going to tell the police." He rolls his eyes and leans back into the couch. "Just tell me and let me go."
You're baffled. His actions didn't make any sense and you actually thought he had no other intentions behind dating you but holy shit this sneaky bastard. "You sly little asshole!" You hiss at him. "Call me that once more and you'll regret it." He threatens. You roll your eyes sagging back into your seat, "Whatever." Then an idea hits you. "You know what, I'll tell you exactly how much I saw that night." You have Seungcheol's full attention now as he stares intensely at you, waiting for your next words. "On our third date. When this whole deal is over, I'll tell you. But in return you'll have to keep your promise and take me out on two more dates."
"Oh fucking hell," he groans rubbing his face in frustration. His state makes you smirk and you feel accomplished.
Choi Seungcheol is stressed because of you.
What a day to be alive.
You murmur, "Besides this isn't even a proper date. This was more like an interrogation. But I'll go easy on you and won't make you redo this date." You give him a sweet smile and he sees red. You can literally see fury blaze in his eyes. "Whatever!" He yells and abruptly stands up. "I don't have time for this. Your stupid play date is over. I'm dropping you home."
Before you can reply, he's marching towards the door. You've to admit this wasn't the best date but at least you've trapped Choi Seungcheol.
-
It has been a good week after your so called date at the diner and you haven't heard from him. You expected him to call or text you since he was gracious enough to ask for your number but he didn't. You now realize it was a mistake to not get his number; you had asked him for his when he took yours but being the prick he is he denied to hand over his number to you. You should have forced him to, you sigh. As you sit in the library the ping of your mobile distracts you from your racing thoughts as you realize you have a message. Picking the device up you tap on the notification. Even though it was from an unknown number, you have no trouble figuring out who it is from. A smile graces your lips as you read the words over again.
I'll pick you up from your house tomorrow evening at six.
That's all it says and that is good enough to send a thrum of excitement throughout your body.
-
You have not held back in dressing up today and you realize it's been a long time since you've dolled up yourself. A long before the clock strikes 6 you are ready; dressed in a cute pastel top and a matching skirt. You've also went ahead and applied makeup, not too much but just enough to maybe catch his eye. Maybe.
You wonder what he has planned for today.
A text from Seungcheol saying he's here has you flying out of your apartment as fast as your feet can carry your desperate self to see him. He stands in front of your apartment with his convertible, dressed in a white jacket that matched his pants. You take a deep breath before walking towards him, trying to calm all your nerves down.
"You know I expected to hear from you earlier. I've been waiting all week," you voice makes his head turn around to meet your eyes as you are skipping towards him with a teasing smile in your face. "I've been busy," he shrugs coolly, his eyes going over your whole body, from your legs to your face. He doesn't hide that he's taking a good look at you, in fact does it unashamedly.
You wonder if he likes what he sees.
Someone dressed up today," he comments. "Too bad we aren't going to a place where you can show off your pretty clothes." You frown, "Where are we going?" Seungcheol holds open the door, a mischievous smile on his face. "I've decided to grant your wish." With a confused face you get inside the car, the gears in your head running. What does he mean?
"I'm taking you to an underground fighting ring," he says with smirk as he reaches for something behind his seat. He pulls out a large hoodie and tosses it towards you, "Put this on. Otherwise you are going to attract a lot of attention and you don't want that." You gulp, taking the hoodie and putting it on you. You're slightly embarrassed. You were so excited to try this outfit but it's not like you knew he was taking you to a fight club. Hell you would have dressed like a guy if you knew. You shrug on the hoodie and it falls almost to your knees but it's huge and comfy and most importantly it smells like him. There's a hint of cologne, nothing too strong; a subtle, expensive scent that makes you want to take a deeper sniff. You wonder if you can keep this with you.
Stop it, pervert.
Seungcheol's voice pulls you out of your haze, "You can take it off later. Just wear it until we're out of there," he says and brings the engine to life.
Then you actually think about it. Underground fighting ring? Holy shit. You were only kidding when you mentioned it. Admittedly, you're shocked, somewhat horrified. Everyone knows it isn't the best place to be at especially for someone like you who never had such an experience. Seungcheol must have seen your expression because the smile on his face gets bigger, "Why? You not up for it?" His voice is teasing.
He's challenging you.
Oh well.
"Of course I'm up for it," you square your shoulders, keeping your voice cool. "Bring it on."
-
Seungcheol leads you into a bar and then through a door at the back that leads down to a lot of stairs, reaching a place similar to an underground parking lot. Quietly you follow Seungcheol, staying as close to him as possible, your bodies occasionally touching. He leads you to a pair of double doors and from the other side you can hear men shouting and chanting.
This is it, I guess.
Seungcheol throws one more smile at you before pushing open the doors as you scramble to follow him closely. The sight that greets you something you only see in movies. There's a boxing ring where two people are throwing punches at each other and surrounding them from all sides is a wild, loud and excited crowd. They continue to cheer loudly as the two men in the ring continue to box and you hear their grunts and groans.
Holy shit.
Swallowing your eyes meet Seungcheol's who is regarding you with curiosity. "What do you think?" He has to speak loudly for you to hear over the screaming throng. "Uh... It's loud," you say dumbly as you try to think of a reply. But it's too loud for you to even think properly as you take in your unfamiliar surroundings. You see a tall man approaching towards you and out of reflex you shuffle closer to Seungcheol until you realize it's his friend. The guy from the first night. He and Seungcheol grin at each other, patting their backs as they talk close to each others ears. You gawk at them curiously and realize they must be talking about you because his friend takes curious glances at you occasionally. His friend is tall, really tall and well built but unlike his body his face is sweet and puppy like, almost cute. When he grins his canines pop up just like a puppy and you wonder if all his friends are good looking.
After he's done chatting with his friend Seungcheol pulls you close and says, "This is my friend. Mingyu. Always stay near him, you hear me? Don't stray away unless you wanna get hurt." His eyes are stern as he pins you down with his stare but you have other thoughts running in your head.
"What do you mean? Where are you going?" You yell over the noise.
He just smirks at you and starts taking his jacket off. "About time you see how we do it around here." His tone is cocky as he hands his jacket to you, "Hold this for me. And stay close to him."
Giving a look at Mingyu Seungcheol starts walking away towards a door that you're guessing is the changing room.
He's gonna fight.
"Wait- but-" Mingyu stops you with a hand on your shoulder and offers you a kind smile. "It's fine. Just stay with me." He then ushers you towards the crowd, spotting a place where you can get a good look at the ring. "Do you guys do this often?" You look up at Mingyu. He smiles sheepishly, "Not me. I tried a few times and I always end up beaten to a pulp. But hyung does this often, he's really good."
"Uh huh, I'm sure he is," you smile dryly. "This is your first time watching a fight, no?" "Definitely." He grins, "Watch carefully then. It's really fun."
You have your doubts on how watching people beat each other up can be fun but you don't comment anything, instead chew on your lip anxiously. Seungcheol really didn't have to go this far? What if he gets hurt badly? Is he trying to impress you?
Don't flatter yourself, your subconscious rolls her eyes.
As the loud cheering that had died down ensues again, your train of thoughts are halted as you see Seungcheol in shorts and his hands covered in boxing gloves, step into the ring. You can't help but ogle at his naked torso, his finely defined and chiseled muscles. He has the perfect body, not too bulky, not too lean just the right amount that gives you a hard time taking your eyes off him. He seems to have noticed your gaze because the second your eyes meet, he throws a haughty, knowing smirk at you. Embarrassed you avert your gaze elsewhere.
His opponent is a muscular man who's growling and banging his chest with his fists, a gesture of intimidation, you suppose. You are definitely intimidated and you wonder if Seungcheol can actually win against him.
The fight starts with a whistle and in mere seconds they are on to each other, throwing punches left and right. Your eyes have a hard time keeping up with them and their fast reflexes and your hands fly to your mouth as a punch lands on Seungcheol's face, followed by repeated blows as Seungcheol falls back. There's a moment of silence as he wipes his bottom lip and you realize there's a cut.
He tilts his neck, popping the bones and glaring at the other man before launching himself on top of his opponent. The next moments are a blurry mess, Seungcheol beating the guy repeatedly until he ends up on the floor but he doesn't stop there. Seungcheol ends it with a sharp jab to his spine and you have no doubt the other man has broken bones with the ways he howls in pain. The match comes to an end like that as the people cheer wildly while Seungcheol steps down from the stage. Mingyu grins at you happily as if what you witnessed was just a regular occurrence, something you should be cheerful about. Shaking your head at the situation, you let out a deflated sigh.
Their life is really so different than yours.
-
Seungcheol seems to be in a very good mood after the fight as he buys you both some sandwiches and drinks from a deli after you both step out of the bar. You both sit down at a park nearby to eat and watch the night sky. "You know, I thought you were gonna lose," you speak after taking a few bites of the sandwich. Seungcheol scoffs, "You underestimate me, sweetheart. I've been doing this for a long time."
"Do you enjoy it?" You ask quietly, focused on peeling the wrapper from your food. You feel Seungcheol's stare on you. "Yes. Why? Are you scared already?"
"No. I was just... curious. Your definition and my definition of fun is totally different." You murmur. "Of course. What did you think? I go to the mall and shop and watch movies with my friends when I'm bored?" His tone is sarcastic. You bite your lip. "No I didn't. It's just...I feels different now that I have experienced it first hand." Seungcheol offers nothing more, taking a sip of his coke and leaning back into the bench. A silence stretches between the both of except the rustling of the wrapper of your food. "How long have you been doing this?" You blurt out. He frowns at you and you don't expect him to answer but he surprises you.
"For a long time."
He doesn't offer anymore and you don't have the heart to prod him for an actual answer. "And how long do you plan on doing this?"
"What?"
"I mean... don't you have any other plans. Like...do you wanna keep doing what you are doing for the rest of your life? Don't you wanna like... settle down maybe?" Your voice is soft as if you are talking to a child. Seungcheol looks annoyed. He doesn't speak for a while as he stares at the ground, a frown etched to his face. You're about to take back your question when he replies, "I really don't think you understand. I've been trying to tell you that my life is completely disparate to yours. So I don't think like you. I don't have plans like you but neither am I expected to follow a certain pattern like you. I can do whatever the fuck I want, ___. So don't look at me like you pity me. I'm the last person here that should be pitied. " His tone is sharp and it makes you feel bad, like a sensation of needles pricking your heart. "I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry," You whisper, feeling timid as you look down at your lap. He mutters, "Don't go poking your nose in other people's business. Specially people like me."
He's right. You shouldn't have asked that. You are not close enough to ask things like that. After that there is a silence, this time, an awkward one. There's palpable tension in the air and you feel jittery. Should you just ask him to take you home?
It's still early and truth be told, you don't want to leave him just yet. You only have one more date to go and judging by his reaction, he is in no way interested in a relationship. You heave out a long sigh. You knew very well what you were getting into, yet you couldn't stop yourself. Seungcheol is like a poison, the sweetest one, the one that has you addicted and unable to let go, no matter how much it hurts.
This is a fucking mess.
"Let's get going. I have plans," Seungcheol announces, standing up. You want to protest but you feel like you have ruined the mood, so you follow him mutely to his car.
The drive to your house is awfully quiet, to the point you want to scream out of frustration. Seungcheol seems to be lost in his head as he makes no move to talk. It's like you are alone, but you're not and it's worse, the air full of tension. Soon you have reached your house and he stops the car but keeps the engine rolling, indicating his rush. He keeps still and stares ahead while gripping the steering wheel as you step out of the car in silence. "Thanks for dropping me home," you say lamely, your voice meek. You turn around to walk away but his voice stops you in your tracks.
"I promised you three dates and I will keep my word. I expect you to keep yours, ___. I hope you will tell me what I want to hear when we meet next time." His tone is sharp with an edge of threat and you barely get to nod before he drives away.
It's not until you're inside your apartment that you realize you still have his hoodie on. Quickly fishing out your phone you type out a text.
I'm sorry, I forgot to return your hoodie.
After a while, his reply comes.
Keep it.
-
You watch Katelyn as she fills her lunch tray with food before walking over and taking a seat opposite to you. She looks extra radiant today, which probably has something to do with the way she's dressed; a bright colourful outfit which undoubtedly she put a lot of time into considering. She has a date, with a guy she has been talking to for the last few weeks. It reminds you of your pitiful situation and you sigh, trying to shrug off those thoughts.
It has been a good couple weeks since you last saw Seungcheol and you have not exchanged a word after that night. In the back of your mind you wonder if he is even alive. You want to message him, you really want to because you are going crazy but after how your last date ended, you can't bring yourself to. You are scared, exactly of what, you can't put your finger into.
The entire situation you have put yourself into is fucking scary. They say you become sure of your feelings after three dates but it did not take that much for you. You already are very certain about your feelings for him and how deep they run exactly and you also know that in the end you will be left scarred. He would never be yours. He has probably forgotten about you or decided that it is not worth another date to figure out what you saw that night.
You let a desperate, pitiable sigh.
"I know you are hiding things from me but I understand that you are not ready to talk yet. But I want you to know I am here for you okay?" Katelyn's voice makes you blink your way out of your thoughts. She squeezes your hand tightly and gives you a reassuring smile and you're left feeling guilty.
"I ...I will tell you. Soon. Just give me a bit more time," you whisper. She nods in understanding. A grateful smile touches your lips as her words make you emotional. Then there's a ping from your phone letting you know there's a message. Without giving it much thought you open the device and your eyes go wide.
I'll take you out for dinner tomorrow night. Wear something formal.
-
You wait outside your apartment for Seungcheol. Your day has passed by in a flurry of excitement and nerves as you carefully picked your outfit and did your hair and makeup. A soft baby pink dress that stopped just above you knees adorns you as your hair rests just above your neck in a loose bun.
You are fiddling with your fingers as you think about how this night is gonna end and wether you will ever see him again when a car screech that grabs your attention.
Seungcheol's convertible has taken a stop in front of you and you see the man getting out the vehicle and take big steps towards you.
You're mesmerized.
Perhaps there is not enough word in this world to describe his looks or perhaps you've simple lost the ability to speak; either way, you just stand and stare, drinking the godly man that stands in front of you. He looks delectable, completely flawless and agonizingly gorgeous in his sharp black suit and pants, with a silk black shirt underneath, the top couple buttons undone that reveals a beautiful porcelain skin. His hairstyle completes the look, parted to one side in a sleek way and showing his forehead and oh god is it sexy. You realize you have a forehead kink, if there is anything as such.
If you weren't in love with him before you are now.
He looks ravishing, and you wonder why it isn't illegal to look this good. It should be because you have completely lost control over yourself. Nothing exists in your world except for him and you feel paralyzed, unable to do anything but drink him in. You wonder if you are even worthy to stand beside him.
"____?" Seungcheol calls you, snapping his fingers in front of your eyes. He must have been calling you while you were eye fucking him. "Oh! Um, hi." You're flustered. "You- you look really, really nice." It isn't enough but it's what you can get past your lips. A knowing smirk kisses his lips before he teases, "Well, you look really, really nice too." Motioning you to his car he says, "Shall we? We'll be late for our reservation."
"Yeah, of course," you say, hurrying over to his car, embarasssed at your foolery. Seungcheol must have noticed you ogling him like that. But you don't really care when he looks like that. It is his fault for looking so devilishly handsome and idly you wonder if he did that on purpose. If he's deliberately teasing with, trying to make you the most miserable before letting you go with a slap of reality to your face. Pushing away those plagueing thoughts, you sit up straight and clear your throat as Seungcheol comes to sit beside you and brings the engine to life.
A decently long and quiet (except for the music from the radio) but not quite uncomfortable car ride later, Seungcheol stops in front of a really fancy and expensive looking restaurant just by the sea. You did not except him to take you to a high end restaurant, otherwise you would have put some more effort in your looks.
Feeling slightly out of place you quietly follow Seungcheol into the beautiful European styled building after he hands his keys to a valet. The interior is dripping with polished furnitures and extravagant chandeliers and marble floors as guests dressed elegantly have their dinner. As you look around the place in awe Seungcheol talks to the receptionist who then guides you towards a staircase that leads to a pair of large double doors decorated with gold which then, opens to a large balcony. In the middle of it sits a table with two chairs and an unceremonious gasp escapes your mouth as you realize this is where you will be having dinner.
The man from earlier takes his leave as Seungcheol helps you sit down before taking a seat for himself while you take in everything, overwhelmed with all your surroundings. Why did he put so much effort for a lousy and fake date?
"What do you think?" He asks with a smirk as he rests one of his elbows on the table.
"I'm overwhelmed," you reply quietly, honestly. He chuckles, "Well this place has really good food and a fantastic view so I thought it wouldn't bad for our last date."
Last date.
"It's really beautiful. I don't know why you did this but thank you, really," you murmur, eyes on the satin table cloth with intricate golden lining. Everything about this place is so pretty.
"Well, I decided it would be beneficial for me to extract words from you if you are wooed," his words have a teasing tone to it and his demeanor is completely different from last time, giving you a whiplash but you are not sure if he's fully joking. Before you can say that you are definitely wooed, a waiter appears to take your order and you leave the duty of ordering to Seungcheol since he seems to frequent this place. Prior to his leave, the waiter pours you Seungcheol's champagne of choice and then, you two are alone once more.
Reaching for the flute, you quickly gulp down the champagne to soothe your dry throat and to calm all your nerves.
Over dinner you talk about your uni and your parents back home and the farm they own. While Seungcheol mostly keeps quiet he doesn't ignore you but listens carefully, occasionally passing glances your way or commenting. He does not offer anything about him, which you expected and you don't ask any questions about him either. Instead you try your best to keep his interest in your words despite the lack of it from his side.
After a hearty meal of poached lobsters and wagyu beefs and creamy soups comes dessert; a chocolate orange mousse with spiced fruits and yogurt sorbet. You start eating your dessert in silence, the occasional crashing of waves filling the complete lack of sounds.
This location is truly magnificent and breathtaking, almost having a feel like you're in a fancy resort in a luxurious tropical island. It is undoubtedly the most beautiful place you have ever been, let alone have dinner at and you wonder if you would ever have the chance to visit some place like this had you not met Seungcheol. The man in question, continues eating quietly, seemingly lost in his thoughts. He looks lovely as always, if not more and you try to burn this image in your mind for you to look back at later. You want to ask him so many question, you want to tell him so many things but you're scared. Sacred if you do so this moment will break, scared it will annoy him and end your final date all too early. So you bite your tongue and finish your food as he does and after your plates are cleared away, you are served another expensive champagne as an end to your luxurious dinner.
Even though Seungcheol doesn't say anything, you assume it is time to spill the beans, to say what he has been wanting to hear from the beginning. You have teased him enough and it is time you give him what he deserves. Taking a deep breath, you open your mouth. "Me and Katelyn heard noises from the playground that night so we decided to check. It was pretty dark and we were tipsy but I recognized you and you were... beating someone up. We stayed there and watched until one of us accidentally made some noise. We were scared that you heard us so we ran. That's all that happened."
You have Seungcheol's full attention now as he listens cautiously, his sharp eyes trained on you. Gulping, you clench your hands together underneath the table, waiting for his reaction. There seems to be an eternity of silence as Seungcheol simply stares at you as if he's debating whether your words are true or not. It's torturous, awfully agonizing and when you can't bear it anymore you're about to speak but he beats you to it.
"I didn't kill him." His voice is quiet. You let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding. Somewhere in the back of your mind you believed it, you believed he wouldn't be cruel enough to kill someone just like that and as soon as he speaks those words you believe him, without a doubt, without a second of delay.
"I believe you." You whisper, holding his gaze. "That asshole deserved what he got. He shouldn't even be alive but I let him go. He's in a hospital now, if you are wondering." You nod quietly. It's scary how much you believe him, how much you trust him even though he is pretty much a stranger.
There's a moment of silence as you bask in his presence before he speaks, "____, men like me, we aren't the nicest people. But we are needed, the cops need us around. People like me do the dirty works for people like you so y'all don't face troubles. We do things in an unconventional way but that's just who we are. We aren't as bad as the rumours say but we definitely aren't someone you should be with." You open your mouth to protest but his sharp gaze makes you stop. "If you have not understood it yet, let me say it out loud. I am trouble. People like me is always bad news. Whatever we did until now, I hope you forget. That's the best, ____ trust me. I think we both got what we wanted so let's call it a night." Just like that, he stands up, not waiting for your reply.
You gawk at him, baffled as he pays the bill and starts walking away. Tears burn the back of your eyes and you bite your lip to hold them back. The ending that you had expected has taken place but you are having a hard time accepting it. Your subconscious reminds you that you deliberately got yourself into this even though you saw this coming. So there is no one to blame for it but you. Grabbing your purse, you stomp your way out of the restaurant and towards Seungcheol's car.
Seungcheol barely acknowledges you as you both get in the car and he presses the key to the ignition. You are fuming in your seat, his words and the way he dismissed you cutting you deep. His words come to you, I think we both got what we wanted. You want to laugh. How can he possibly think that? Is he really so stupid or is he deliberately ignoring your interest in him? You want to smack his perfect face, curse and scream at him but all you can do is sit still with your arms crossed as steam comes out of your head. Is he really not curious about your feelings? Does he possess none for you? Does these few days with you mean nothing to him? You have so many unanswered questions. Leaning back into your seat, you close your eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.
It feels like in the blink of an eye the drive to your place is over as Seungcheol halts his car in front of your apartment. He does not utter a single word, doesn't even spare a glance at you while patiently waiting for you to get out of the car.
Asshole.
You inhale deeply, trying your best to gather yourself together as you take off your seatbelt and turn towards him.
"Seungcheol?" Few seconds pass before he looks at you. Words are stuck in your throat. When your eyes meet his, you become mute, overwhelmed with emotions as your words die in your tongue. He keeps staring at you, not opening his mouth but waiting for you to speak. "Is this goodbye?" Your voice breaks.
"I believe we don't have any reason to see each other. We both got what we wanted," He says without batting an eye. You're left bemused, one step away from landing a slap on his face. How dare he say that?
"Do you really believe that?" Your words come out as an accusation. "I wanted to go out with you because I thought I have feelings for you! And I do! And my feelings have only increased since I first saw you. I want to see you again, Seungcheol. You may have gotten what you wanted but I didn't." Your fades into a whisper as tears burn the back of your eyes.
Seungcheol stays quiet, staring ahead, his brows knitted as if he's annoyed. "I promised you three dates, ____. And I gave you that. It's over. Your feelings? You'll get over them. It's better to be in pain for a while that be with someone like me."
"You can't say that! I get to decide for myself!"
"____," he sighs, rubbing his temples. "I'm a bad man. You should leave while you still have a good image of me. You'll get hurt because of me and I've caused enough pain to enough people. Just...go. Just forget me." You stare at him as frustrated tears roll down your cheeks. He doesn't meet your gaze but turns his head the other way. You are angry, infuriated and heart broken all at a time. Clenching your fists you inhale a shaky breath before reaching for him.
Before you can chicken out, you tilt his face towards you and quickly press your lips against his. Seungcheol seems to be shocked as a small gasp leaves his mouth but you don't let him push you away. Instead one of your hands come to rest on his thigh as he other cups his face to keep his mouth against yours. You kiss him with all you have left, pouring in every bit of passion and love for him as your tongues intertwine. By the time you are both breathless, Seungcheol gently pushes you back and peers into your eyes. "That's all I can give you, ____." He says, his voice the softest you have heard. You are broken into a million pieces and as much as your heart wants to cling to him, you suddenly feel tired, deflated like a popped balloon. Your emotions have drained you out and left nothing and right now, breathing almost seems too painful for you. Taciturnly, you grab your purse and step out the convertible. You hear another door shut behind you but you don't look back as your heavy steps carry you to the entrance of your building. When you are about to enter your apartment, you accumulate all your strength and courage to spare one final glance at him.
Turning around you see Seungcheol standing by his car, hands in his pockets, simply watching you. Even though your eyes are locked on each other, you don't see any emotion in them. He looks like the same expressionless, mysterious man you saw the first day. The man you fell in love with. Taking in his gorgeous features one last time, you bite your lip and turn away, forcing yourself to walk inside your apartment building.
Your chapter with Seungcheol ends here.

Fun fact: demon slayer starts in 1912 and ends in 1927(or at least that's when the Tashio era ends). Using that math Tanjiro (as long as he kept his health good) would very well be alive today at the ripe age of like 78 if my math is correct since he started as 13 in the series. (My math probably wrong asf)
Power imbalance, power bottom reader, knife play,  blood but not blood play...
Tumblr media
He hated you.
Your very being irked him more than anything he'd ever experienced in all his centuries of living. You were clumsy, boisterous, and played that arrogant music all throughout your home while walking around half naked. Well in Muzan's opinion you were half naked, he couldn't even begin to describe his disbelief at the trend of exposing skin.
It didn't help that you had that insignificant filth running through your veins. At first he was unsure, after all this was a completely different country than Japan, not to mention your darker skin and coiled hair. But no, he could smell and recognise the Kamado blood running through your veins just as strongly as it had run through all your ancestors.
Completely undiluted.
At the very beginning when you first moved in, you  came to his home. Knocking aggressively on his front door already getting off to the wrong start. When he opened it, you slipped past him and walked into his living room barely even saying hello as you put poorly decorated sugar cookies on his obsidian coffee table. "This is a nice place you got here Mj."
Muzan's eyes twitched, that joke had long since gotten old since he moved to America.
Now that you were closer he could definitely smell, the century old stench of rivaling bloodlust simmered just below your onyx skin. At any moment he expected you to attack him in some way or form. "Anyways I'm here to say hello neighbor, my name is Y/n and I'm your new best friend!"
Your happy attitude also agitated him to no end. Even though the knowledge of demons had dwindled down to only a few select families, even basic humans were wary of him as their baser instincts made them aware of his dangerous origins. This fact had long since forced Muzan to only prey on the elderly to survive. You had stayed a bit longer babbling about some nonsense that Muzan never acknowledged as he watched you from a good distance.
"You know you really got to add more to your wardrobe than 1963 suits." You walked from the back of his home, an area that he didn't even notice you wandered to. Finally getting bored, you open his door bidding your farewells.
Just before leaving you stop and with a cheeky grin say, "If you ever need anything just come on over. We Kamado's are known for our kindness."
Since then he'd been on edge around you. The point of relocating was for him to keep a low profile but now it seems he'd have to come face to face with an old nemesis reborn.
Muzan snapped out of his thoughts with a flinch as he pierced his hand with his nail. He watches the dark blood well up from the wound and drip down his wrist. In the end this world had long since lost its hostility dwindling the average human incapable of basic combat. Giving you were no doubt a great descendant, Muzan failed to see you as a true threat.
But one can never be too sure
🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢
You heard a knock on your door, soft and hesitant. "I don't think I'm expecting company." You checked your watch and peered out of a nearby window. It was at least 8 at night, you were braless wearing sweats with a red T-Shirt and on your way to bed.  In the back of your mind you visualize your two grand-uncles Inosuke and Zenitsu coming over to make you spectate their fights. For two old dudes they still had enough strength in them to do hip breaking nonsense.
You open the door shocked to see your next door neighbor standing before you. For once he wasn't wearing a suit that cost more than your house. His attire was still expensively dressed but in a more casual sense, that being a black dress shirt and slacks. His sleeves were rolled up displaying his pale skin. "Can I come in?" A dazzling smile you had never seen before practically blinds you as he walks past you into your home.
When Muzan walks in his eyes immediately dart to the clear as day Nichirin Blade sword displayed recklessly on your living room wall above your couch. "You like it?" A hand on his shoulder makes him jump, "Got it from my grandpa, he says it's really special but I feel like he's exaggerating. You know how old people are." Muzan shakes out of his stupor. "I don't quite understand what you mean by that, however I do know that it's much more wise to listen to your elders than ignoring…..It could save your life."
Muzan replicates you and puts a hand on your shoulder gently squeezing. This was it, he'd go in for the kill and it would be over, the amount of blood he'd pump into you would be enough to watch you meet a satisfying end of combustion completely untraceable if the police were to get involved. How he wishes he'd be there when your poor grandfather walks along your remains splattered on every surface in your living room. Unable to do a thing as he's finally in his last stretch of life.
The beauty.
Muzan's finger only twitches in the slightest before pain sparks from his own neck. "The thought of you coming into my own home unprovoked and at night no less, was the most obvious sign one could ask more." You had his hand gripped so tight your veins popped while your other hand held a small pocket knife that burned  brighter than any Nichirin sword he'd ever encountered. He didn't understand, he was quick enough to kill even the best of the ancient Hiroshima. So how did a little foreign girl like you get the upper hand?
It was embarrassing and almost laughable if any of his pillars were alive to tell the tale.
You press the blade harder before bringing your other hand to caress Muzan's cheek,  "Did you think I'd be just an ignorant descendant of an infamous hero?" You clicked your teeth disappointingly. "How naive, you've really become lazy after all these millennia huh?" You walk forward, pushing Muzan back with seductive strength. He allows you to push him into your couch,  I say allow because at any time he could have stopped you.
Muzan is most definitely not holding me at gunpoint right now.
The knife never wavers even as you climb into Muzan's lap, pressing it even closer against his jugular. "You do know getting beheaded will not kill me, and I doubt this petty little kitchen knife will get the job done in the first place." Your lips draw into a smirk and you press the knife closer as you trail it down his chest, "That may be true but it's gonna take one hell of a time for you to grow back." Your hand jerks down, popping his shirt buttons open.
Muzan watches with interest, your eyes light up as more skin becomes exposed. The tones of your dark skin contrast strikingly as you caress his pectoral with the tips of your fingers. "For a 1,000 year old grandpa you look decent." Still threatening his life with your blade, you kiss him. It's deep and carnal. Your lustful desires being made known as you grind in his lap. The flesh of your ass snuggly hotdogs the forming outline of his cock. "I've always wanted to be with a demon. You've had to of become a real freak after living this long!"
When you pull away Muzan's thin lips are pink and a bit swollen. He is out of breath despite needing none, "You have a lot of nerve for a mere human." With your free hand you loosen the belt of his slacks, only standing to pull them off, pleased when Muzan voluntarily raises his hips to aid you.
Don't get him wrong, he was still planning on killing you and ending your wretched bloodline once and for all, he just needed his mind to clear itself. Your scent, your confidence, strung him along like a puppet. His hands grip onto your ass cheeks like a lifeline. Molding them between his fingers, even giving them a shake through your sweats. His nails elongate and puncture the thick fabric as if it was nothing more than a spider web.
Your sweats are tugged off completely leaving your lower half nude. Muzan moves his hands to hold your ass again but your blade politely makes itself known. You are out of breath and clearly flustered. "Watch yourself, demon, I'm the one calling the shots, don't forget that." Muzan bites his tongue with sharp glare. He raises his hands in surrender, "Of course."
Muzan can feel your wetness against his leg and it's driving him insane. "Hey…" red eyes refocus on yours, "You ain't got any diseases do you? And you can't get me pregnant right?" Muzan smirks hands enclosing around your ass despite your protest. "I can, however it will cost a lot more than doing it once." The odds didn't seem in your favor but you were in no position to stand down and grab a condom and Muzan knew it.
You curve the blade towards his chin, "If you are lying and give me some ancient unknown disease or I find out you have superman sperm, I will kill you." Muzan links his lips, "Wasn't that the plan from the beginning or have you had a moment of level headedness?" Your wrist is quick and precise, cutting a thin slash along his jawline., not enough to scar and it barely even bled, but the threat was clear.
You grab Muzan's dick and use your thumb to attack the underside with fast strokes. Said man doesn't react outwardly, the only sign being his eyelids lowering by a fraction. "Were you always this well endowed or did you adjust this part too?" Muzan was not amused by your insinuation. Deciding to once again display the true power imbalance this situation had, he loops his arms underneath your large thighs and lifts you just enough to thrust his cock against your hole.
From there he let's go, making you plop down on his length, making you yelp and allowing him to lean back with a relaxed sigh. You were so warm and tight. Now even though I explained what had happened with great detail,  keep in mind that in reality it all happened within a fraction of a second.
Your large and in charge persona was cracking.  You gripped Muzan's sides tightly as your pussy spasmed around his girth. "F-Fuck it's too….." you trail off not wanting to give Muzan the credit he was truly due.
It takes a few moments for you to get your bearings all the while Muzan and his dangerous jaw swayed in the crevice of your neck. A viper playing with its prey. The blade is back against his neck once again making his cock twitch. If he were human this would be a dangerous feat.  Your grip never slacked nor lessened against his neck, slicing into a growing wound that dropped dark blood down his chest and to his abdomen.
His dick stretched your pussy and made it weap on each downstroke. Muzan's hands grip onto the cheeks of your ass with gritted teeth.  Your insides gripped him ever so slightly.  Sucking him back in as if he belonged there.  He felt used and it felt good.  His black ringlets stuck to his face from sweat and his red eyes grew in intensity.
He couldn't see much of your body, hell he could barely even touch. In the back of his mind humorous thoughts such as how he knew Tanjiro would lose his sanity if he knew his granddaughter was being bedded by the man he despised. But the more you bounced, the more you squeezed, the deeper you cut into his neck proved that you were truly the one in charge.
"Oh God you're so deep!" Your deep almond eyes shut themselves with pleasure. Muzan could feel your legs shaking with exertion at the same rhythm your pussy twitched. His balls felt tight after having no action in over a dozen years. "F-Faster." He has no care for your blade, only wanting to cum and feel the sweet ecstasy he knew your creamed pussy would provide. "Come on human, go faster." Muzan locks lips with you, gaze hardened and intent on proving some sort of point.
Tossing the knife you wrap your arms around his neck pulling his head closer. Red eyes target brown ones as his hands take a stronger grip on your ass. He uses his strength to bounce you. The sound of his balls slapping against the curve of your ass is just as disgusting as it is sexy. Your nipples rub against his through your tank-top making you both moan. The feeling blood stains your shirt making you shiver from the cool wetness
The couch you rest on bangs against the wall behind you the faster you both go. Muzan's feet are planted firmly in the ground, his fangs further elongated. He looks feral and it is in this moment where you get a glimpse of the horror many people felt when he took their lives. "Focus little Kamado, you wouldn't want to disappoint me now would you?"
Muzan's hips meet yours, spreading the tempo. Your juices coat his lap before finally you tense up completely into a cramp inducing stance as Muzan impaled you on his cock one last time. "Ahh.." Muzan empties himself within you with a relieved sigh.
Maybe the Kamado bloodline could go on.

Kishibe simps come get y’all juice.
pairing: kishibe (chainsaw man) x reader
warnings: age gap (reader is a college student), mentions of alcohol/tobacco, a lil bit of fluff ig, sugar daddy/baby relationship, degradation,  vibrator, facefucking, overstim, dumbification, breeding, uhh there’s a lot lolll, also needless to say mdni
also this is the first fic I’ve published on this acc so I hope you guys enjoy!! I haven’t found a lot of him but this man is so fine istg haha
————————————————————————
That moment he first laid eyes on you that evening, clad in nothing but a shiny latex white bodysuit, some bunny ears standing tall on your head, and some fishnet stockings that complimented your translucent pleasers, he couldn't stop thinking about you. Countless other girls, dressed identically, passed by his table–serving him drink after drink or feeling up on him teasingly–but your face in the dimmed neon lights never left his mind. God, he wanted you so bad. The older man knew he could capture the attention of any girl he wanted (well, almost any girl) just by looking at them–and he was going to capture yours tonight, without a doubt.
He frequented this club either for a good fuck, a good drink, or both. Call him a pervert, but nothing brought him more joy than seeing scantily dressed girls frolic around him as the scent of alcohol reeked through the air.
"Hey, Doll," his gravelly voice greeted you as you finally passed by his table. He was sitting alone with an empty glass in his left hand, dressed oddly formally in a suit complete with a long black coat. He wasn't the first old guy you've encountered at this club–hell, most of them were straight up weirdos–but he was different. He was probably one of the few customers you'd seen that was actually...kind of attractive. He was a bit rough-looking, with an unkempt beard and tired, aged eyes. But he looked strong, too, both physically and mentally. His piercings on both ears shined in the lights above you, and an unusual stitched scar trailed across his left cheek to the corner of his mouth. You didn't know who he was, but you found yourself intrigued.
"Hello," you said slowly. "Would you like me to get you a refill on that drink?"
" 'S alright, Doll." He let out his hand to the seat in front of him. "Why don't you sit with me? Haven't seen you around here before."
"Do you come here often?" you replied, instantly cringing at such a cliché remark as you lowered yourself at the table.
"Only when I need to" was all he said.
"Well...yes. I am new."
" 'S your name, dear?" You answered, to which he replied with a "Wow, that's beautiful." You looked down bashfully, appreciative of the compliment. "So what's your...you know, day job?"
"I'm inclined to ask the same of you," you responded, eyeing the stitches that adorned his hallowed cheeks like embroidery.
He let out a hearty laugh. "You'll find out soon enough." He lowered his voice as he eyed you. "But if you're interested, it makes a nice amount of money and there's room to share."
You froze. Was he...proposing what you thought he was? You had only been here a few days, and you had already encountered a potential sugar daddy? As a college student, working at the mall just wasn't cutting it, so your friend jokingly suggested you apply here. You didn't think you'd get it because of your rather reserved demeanor, but you heard back from the club almost immediately with an offer.
"Um, I--"
"Aww, you're flustered, dear? That's alright, just thought I'd subtly offer you some assistance. You go to the university a few blocks away, don't you?"
You stared at him, flabbergasted. "How...?"
"What a smart girl. I love smart women, you know."
You said nothing as you felt your face get hot.
"So how's about it? Gonna be mine or not?"
"Well...."
"You won't have to work here anymore. I can tell you just dread it. Drunk old men yelling at you to come over, serve 'em another drink, give 'em favors...." He chuckled. "Of course, I guess you could say I'm another drunk old man asking for favors. I'll leave you be if you just tell me to go."
It was true; who knew how many shots of sake he had downed since he stepped into the building. But unlike the other patrons that entered this club, he appeared calm, collected, and fully cognizant of his surroundings. If it weren't for the scent of the drink stinging your nose, you would've believed he was completely sober. You didn't feel too uncomfortable by his words; if anything, you were simply shocked by his forwardness. If he truly was who he said he was, then what was there to lose?
"Who are you? And what do you do?" you eyed him again with a raised eyebrow.
"You can just call me Kishibe," he answered vaguely. Kishibe. You recited the name like a mantra in your head. It was a common surname, but on him it felt...mysterious. Alluring, even. "And for what I do....dear, let's just say you'll be protected with me around."
"Oh-kayy. Well, Kishibe," you said the name slowly, "perhaps I'll take up your offer."
"I knew you would," he said with a smirk. He rose from his seat, and you followed slowly, confused. "Alright, let's book outta here."
"Um...right now? But my shift isn't over until–"
"Fuck the shift. You're quitting, remember?"
"Oh...right, yeah."
You followed him through the sea of tables and girls as he grasped your hand tightly with unbelievable strength, and not simply for his age. The two of you eventually made it out through the French doors and into the dark parking lot. It was nearly one in the morning, and though it was midsummer, you were absolutely freezing in your skimpy bunny girl outfit. You wrapped your arms around yourself in an attempt to warm yourself. Before you could look behind you, you felt cloth fall down on your shoulders kindly. You looked above you to see that the older–and much taller–man had removed his coat and was only wearing the flattering white button-up and tie.
“T-thank you, Mr. Kishibe,” you said softly.
He didn’t look at you, but coldly replied, “Just Kishibe.”
“R-right. Thank you, Kishibe.”
He led you to his car, a modest but still attractive red five-seater.
“Wanna start your new job now?” he asked, stopping in front of the car.
“What do you–“
Before you knew it, you felt his hand grasp firmly on your waist and his lips dive into your neck.
“Agh, Kishibe,” you uttered. His hands lowered to squeeze your rear, and you let out a small gasp.
“ ‘S the problem?” he asked as he lifted up his head.
“We should at least go to the car,” you huffed as he continued.
“Mmm, right,” he muttered. Still focused on your neck, he abruptly lifted you off the ground almost effortlessly with a single arm and walked to his car. You were absolutely shocked at how strong this man was. He opened the passenger seat with one of his hands and set you down as you looked up at him, dumbfounded. He then closed the door and walked to the other side, fastening himself in.
“Um, Ki–“ You opened your mouth to speak, but he pulled out a small object from his left pocket. He flipped the switch and you heard a subtle whirring sound from his hand.
He laughed. “Mmm, Doll, this is gonna be so fun.” His hands traveled gingerly onto your thighs, and you looked up at him and sighed. He gave each one a squeeze and smiled, muttering a “fuck” to himself. You remained silent as he used his strong hands to part your legs, then ripped with ease through your stockings and leotard. He chuckled as he looked up at you. “No panties? Naughty girl.” He took his fingers and messed around with your clit a bit.
“K-Kishibe,” you muttered, trying to resist his firm touch to the best of your ability.
“You’re just making it easier for me,” he laughed, shoving the active vibrator in without warning.
“Gah! Kishibe....”
“You’re not gonna cum, right, Doll? You’re gonna be a good girl on the ride home, right?” he asked, both hands now on the steering wheel.
“Mmmngh....”
“I’ll take that as a yes. Well, then, let’s get going.”
With that, the two of you headed off. You were honestly an embarrassing sight next to him: a writhing, moaning mess. The drunkard kept his eyes on the road, not saying anything but often smirking to himself as your curses grew louder. At stoplights he would pull out his remote and watch as you adjusted to the abrupt increase in intensity of the vibrations. Other than that, he acted almost as if you weren’t there, or so it appeared to you.
After what felt like an eternity, the two of you arrived at his condominium complex. He stopped in the parking lot, watching you still calling his name and squirming in the seat next to him.
“So, how’d you do?” You knew he was going to be pissed once he removed the device. He quickly removed the vibrator, to which he was welcomed with a flood of your clear fluids. You let out a sigh of relief.
“I’m s-sorry, Kishibe,” you begged. “I really tried not to cum, honest.”
“Bullshit.” He grabbed you by the shoulder and waist and flipped you over in one swoop. Then, lifting his hand, he smacked your soaked slit. You yelped in reply, still apologizing.
“Gah! I’m...h-hah...sorry!”
He ignored you and smacked you again in the same spot, smiling at your reaction. Then he did it again. And again. Then again, until your labia stung the impact.
“You couldn’t even wait till we got home, huh?”
“I–“
“Suck my cock.”
You were shocked once again at the bluntness of his orders, and tried to form some sort of sentence.
“Don’t just sit there. For a smart girl you shouldn’t be this confused.”
“I-I’m...sorry.” You lowered your head towards the seat next to you, grabbing the zipper of his slacks and pulling it down. The tent in his pants poked through his underwear, and you instinctively bit your bottom lip as you eyed it. You used your hand to caress his bulge teasingly, and he let out a low huff in response. You continued to react to the positive reinforcement, before his hand swooped down and slapped your cheek.
“I said to suck it, bitch. Don’t make me tell you again.”
Your face still burned, but you did as told and rolled his underwear down. His cock sprung before you, hitting your cheek. You moved your head back to get a good look at it. Needless to say, he was fucking hung–and once again, not just for his age. The shaft extended far above him, curved at a slight angle with veins protruding across like vines on a sturdy tree stump. Precum dripped at the tip, tinted a dark mauve, and you licked your lips again at the sight.
You dove in, firmly cupping your hands around the base to give his appendage a gentle massage. Then you planted a soft kiss on the head–to which he grinned–before opening your mouth and moving up and down his length. He let out small sighs, praising you for being a "good little cockwhore", and demanding you to "take more" of him. His words encouraged you to work more diligently to please him, and he was absolutely relishing in your efforts.
Then, without warning, you heard a grunt above you as he rammed his cock into the back of your throat. You reflexively gagged in surprise, to which Kishibe simply chuckled in reply.
“Aww, too big for my little Doll? Too bad.”
He grabbed your hair with his fist with those rough hands, yanking your face to make eye contact with him. “Look at me,” he whispered.
Flustered, you tried to obey him as he began to fuck your face mercilessly. You found yourself flinching every time his balls slapped your face with each movement. As he hastened himself, he found it more difficult to suppress his own voice, and you heard the man blissfully groan above you.
"Such a–fuck–pretty little mouth," he huffed. "You're gonna–huhh–gonna taste me real soon, Doll, okay?" You nodded in response, moving with him as he continued to propel into your face even more violently. He pushed, and shoved, and squeezed himself into your needy mouth, and he grinned at your embarrassing gagging sounds below him.
He released himself with a hefty grunt. You looked up at him, mouth full of his cum and eyes full of your tears, as he looked back down at you with the most devious smile on his face. “Mmm, don’t swallow it yet, Doll.”
He hoisted you again with one arm and pulled your naked body onto his lap in the driver's seat. Your chest rested on the steering wheel as you turned around to see the older man unbutton his shirt and throw it towards the backseat. Then, he forcibly pulled you back up until the back of your head sat on his shoulder.
“Mmm, my cute little Dolly’s gonna feel so good on my cock,” he growled, fingers trailing softly across your body. You gasped as he made his way towards your most sensitive parts between your legs. You could feel his breath, hinted with notes of sake and tobacco, tickling your ear as he whispered, “Spread these cute little thighs for Daddy, now.”
You did as told, feeling your hole stretch in response to his length squishing itself inside you. God, it was huge. You huffed as you arched your back onto his cool chest. He had his firm hands grasped on each of your hips, guiding you as you bounced up and down. Meanwhile, he was pushing himself further into your cervix, letting out bass-filled growls above you.
“Hhh, attagirl....You can swallow now....Go a little faster, will ya? Show me how bad you want this cock.”
“Mmngh, y—hah!—yes, sir,” you yelped in response, gulping as you savored his seed traveling down your esophagus. You picked up the pace, tightening your walls around him, rotating your hips as your tits bounced even more erratically.
You heard him laugh as one of his hands found its way to your chest, fingers toying playfully around one of your nipples. Then he lifted his other hand, squeezing it tightly around your neck. Your strained moans struggled to escape you as you tried to keep pace with his deep thrusts.
“That didn’t mean slow down,” he hissed. “I’m not choking you as hard as I can, Doll.”
“ ‘m sorry, sir,” you whined, moving faster.
You continued to ride him as you felt the buildup warm up inside you. You felt that same sensation develop: the same sensation from earlier when he had teased you with his toy, on the verge of cumming again.
“K-Kishibe...” you croaked.
“What—agh—what is it?”
“I’m gonna....I can’t h-hold it,” you told him, still limited by his firm grasp around your vocal chords. “Please l-let me cum, I’m b-begging.”
He just let out another hearty laugh, ignoring your cries while he fucked you even harder.
“P-please, sir....”
And then it happened. Your legs shook around him as your slick poured down his cock and tears rolled down your guilty eyes.
“I’m s-sorry!” you yelled, expecting him to chastise you for disobeying his demands. But he said nothing. Hell, he just pushed himself inside even faster, thrusting with that same focused determination. You cried even more, begging him to slow down, to stop, but the words wouldn’t reach you. You felt yourself growing brain dead, craving nothing but for his giant cock to bury itself deeper within you.
“Y’like that, Dolly? Like me fucking you like this, even though you want me to slow down?” You let out complete gibberish in response. “Or maybe you like it rough? At this rate, I could get you pregnant and you wouldn’t object, couldn’t I?”
“Nmggfsh,” you answered, trembling at his forceful movements.
“Gonna use your words? Or are you just gonna be a dumb slut?”
Your voice cracked and your brain clouded. You could understand him just fine, but you just couldn’t find the words to respond. You continued to let out unintelligible vocalizations as he fucked your hole with more intensity, with more vigor, with more abstractness, more–
"Gah!" The two of you screamed in unison as you felt his warm fluid splash inside your womb and down your thighs. You fell back into his arms as he cradled you against the seat. His sunken eyes looked down at you affectionately.
“You did so good, Dolly,” he said kindly.
Regathering your thoughts and catching your breath, you found the words to tell him, “Thank you, Kishibe.”
He rubbed your cheek with the back of his hand, and you felt his chest rumble as he let out an amiable chuckle.
“Gonna be mine now? Promise to treat you real nice, baby.”
“Mm-hmm,” you cooed.
“We can stay here for awhile, then you can come into my place to stay the night. We can head to your dorm to get your stuff in the morning.”
“That sounds great,” you replied sincerely.
Still warming his cock inside you, the two of you remained in Kishibe's car, closing your eyes to take in the ambient sounds of planes and passing vehicles outside. You weren't fully sure of what you had gotten yourself into, but if it felt like this...well, you guessed that you'd made the right decision.

The Kiss of Life
Pietro Maximoff x Reader
Summary: You are an Avenger with the power to heal. However, you didn’t expect to catch feelings for the man you brought back from the dead.
Note: Let it be known that my very first ever Tumblr fanfiction, waaaaaay back in 2015, was a Pietro Maximoff fic about a healer! Reader bringing him back to life. I was obsessed with this man. Still am, lowkey. So, this fic is just kind of me revisiting that idea with about six more years of writing experience.
Warnings: Mentions of death, death (temporary), bulletwounds
Wordcount: 2.7k
Tumblr media
On the day of the Battle of Sokovia, you were on board the Helicarrier. Tony Stark had contacted you, knowing the shit would hit the fan, and then Nick Fury had found you and picked you up. As the team’s resident healer, you didn’t actively go out in the field, but you were always on stand-by just in case. And this was one of the days you were glad you were.
You’d taken one of the “boats” to the quickly rising chunk of the city in order to heal civilians. You encountered a young woman who had her leg caught under a piece of rubble. But super-strength wasn’t one of your abilities. Luckily, a certain silver-haired speedster saw you and rushed over to help. You healed the woman and she quickly went over to the boats to be evacuated.
“Are you…” the man asked, looking you over. “You’re with…?”
“The Avengers, yeah.” You nodded. “Are you?”
“I’m new.” He grinned. “I’m Pietro. Nice to meet you.”
“(Y/N).” You offered your hand and instead of shaking your hand like you expected him to, he raised it to his lips and pressed a soft kiss there. You tried to ignore the heat rising to your cheeks. You couldn’t deny he was handsome, and his accent and gorgeous muscles only helped his case.
“Oh shit, your arm.” You pointed out the wound there.
“I was shot.” He nodded, his jaw clenching. “It is not bad, though.”
“Here, let me.” You reached up and held your hand over the bullet hole. Immediately, golden light radiated from your palm and Pietro watched in awe as the spot repaired, his skin closing up underneath the hole in his shirt. “There. Good as new.”
“Thanks. Remind me to find you the next time I get a paper cut.”
You chuckled. “I’m always around.”
The two of you split after that. You went off to help more civilians evacuate and he busied himself with fighting robots.
And then it happened. You were on your way to the boats to help people. You heard the loud noise of a machine gun, and when you looked up, Pietro was standing there, riddled with bullet holes, wobbling on his feet before inevitably collapsing.
You sprinted. You didn’t care about the risks or the danger, you ran as fast as you could to him, falling to your knees at his side and immediately pushing every ounce of power you could muster into his chest, arms, and legs. You felt like your veins were on fire and you couldn’t describe why, but you knew that this was why you were there. This was your purpose and you intended to fulfill it.
You watched as his wounds stitched together. You searched him for more. Anything you could do to make him better.
His eyes were open, unblinking, wide and haunting. His skin was cold to the touch. You knew what you had to do, but you didn’t know if you had the strength to do it after expending your powers all day.
“Can you do it?” Clint asked softly, watching.
“I think so.” You murmured. “I’m gonna try.”
The Kiss of Life, as Tony had dubbed it, was something you had only done once. It had absolutely drained you. You’d been asleep for a few days following it, but it was worth it. It was always worth it.
So, slowly, you leaned in and pressed your lips to Pietro’s pushing everything you had left into his body, from your chest to his. You reached up and felt for a pulse, waiting, waiting, waiting, until suddenly, you felt his vein twitch beneath your fingertips. You felt his chest heave with a breath and immediately released, exhaling a large breath of your own.
He looked up at you, confusion and warmth swirled in his eyes. He stared at you for a long moment, a hand rising to his lips, as if he was looking for confirmation of what you’d just done. He looked down at himself, searching for the dozens of wounds he’d just acquired, but not finding any.
Your head was spinning. You blinked a few times, watching him carefully. He sat up and as soon as he did, you slumped forward into his firm chest, your eyes fluttering shut. The last thing you felt before falling asleep were his strong arms wrapping around you and his soft lips pressing against your forehead.
“Thank you.”
***
You woke up with a pounding headache in an…unfamiliar place. You didn’t recognize the room you were in, but it appeared your things were there, from what you could tell. Oh, and there was a man sitting in a chair pulled up to your bedside, a nervous look on his face. His finger rested on his lip, deep in thought.
You moved, straining to sit up but your entire body was sore, your limbs each screaming for you to stop.
“Hey, hey, careful.” He moved at lightning speed, catching you off guard. He gently moved you into an upright position, resting against the mountain of pillows on your bed. “Easy.” He smoothed the hair off of your forehead and leaned forward to kiss it, long and soft. “You do not feel like you have a fever…”
“I think I’m okay.” You insisted, shaking your head. Your voice was hoarse. You coughed a few times, but half a second later, Pietro was holding a cold water bottle in your face, helping you drink it with careful hands and a doting expression on his face.
“Banner left these for you.” He handed you a bottle of painkillers and you took a few of them, swallowing them down with more water.
“Thank you.”
He didn’t say anything, but you knew he was thinking about it.
Instead, you asked, “How long was I out?”
“A few days.” He replied, his voice soft and low. “I…I was worried…worried that you…”
“Yeah,” you laughed darkly, shrugging. “I…well, some risks are just worth taking, I guess.”
“You barely know me and you saved my life without hesitation.” He said, a million words hiding behind his eyes. He sat on the edge of the bed cautiously, giving you plenty of time to tell him to back off, but you didn’t. “Clint…he said he’s never seen you run so fast.”
“I knew I wouldn’t have much time before…” You shook your head, trailing off. “And I knew I couldn’t let that happen. I got lucky. I was exactly where I needed to be.”
He was quiet for a beat, thinking. And then, all at once, he pulled you into his arms, against his firm chest. You listened to his heartbeat, his breaths, which became ragged as soon as he started sobbing.
“Hey, it’s okay. I’m okay. You’re okay. It’s all okay.” You said, your arms wrapping around him, one hand rubbing soothing circles on his back.
“Thank you. T-thank you so much. I…I don’t know how to repay you.”
“It’s just my job, Pietro. You don’t have to—”
“I want to, though.” He said, pulling away from you to look you in the eyes. His large hand rose to frame your cheek and you felt a chill run up your spine, heat flooding your cheeks due to his proximity and the look on his face. “Please let me thank you the way you deserve.”
You didn’t know what else to say, so you just nodded, staring up at him. “O-okay.”
“Do you think you can walk? The others want to see you.” He said.
“Um, I can try. I’ll probably be a bit weak.”
“I’ll help you.” He reassured you, helping you remove the blankets on top of you and scoot to the edge of the bed.
You put your feet on the floor, gently easing up until you were upright. You wobbled a little, but Pietro’s arm snaked around your waist for support, helping you forward slowly until you were out the door of your new bedroom.
“Where are we, exactly?”
“New facility.” Pietro explained. “Stark insists it will be safer than the Tower.”
“Gotcha.” You nodded.
He led you out to the main room, where the majority of the team were all sitting on the large sectional couch. As soon as you walked in, aided by Pietro, they all sat at attention. One of them, a young woman wearing a red sweater, stood up and walked up to you quickly, wrapping you in a tight hug.
“Thank you so much. Thank you for saving him.”
“Of course.” You hugged her back. “Us Avengers have to look out for each other. Welcome to the team. You’re Wanda, right?”
“Right. Nice to meet you, officially.” She smiled warmly.
“It’s nice to meet you, too.” You pulled away and as soon as you did, you wobbled a bit, but Pietro immediately held you upright, preventing you from falling.
“Got a new friend there, (L/N)?” Tony chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
“So it seems.” You smiled, letting Pietro help you over to the couch where the others were all situated. “The new place is nice.” You noted. “Very modern. Very sleek.”
“Thought you’d like it.” Tony nodded. “There are still quite a few empty rooms if you want to switch, but, uh…Speedy wanted your room next to his.”
Pietro laughed nervously, reaching up to scratch the back of his neck. When you looked over at him, his cheeks were steadily turning red. Cute, you decided.
“Well, I certainly don’t mind.” You grinned. “What are we watching?”
“Disney movies.”
“Hell yesssssss.”
“Told you she’d like it.” Steve chuckled, his arms folded across his broad chest. “How are you feeling, kid?”
“I’m good. Little sore, but good. Should be back to normal in a few days.”
“Glad to hear it.” Steve nodded, smiling.
“Anyone have any papercuts that need healing in the meantime?” You joked.
“Maybe take it easy for now, (L/N).” Natasha chuckled, shaking her head. “Our bruises and papercuts can wait.”
“Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.”
You watched a few movies with the rest of the team, and afterwards, Tony ordered pizza, a very bewildered delivery boy knocking on the door about an hour later. Pietro wouldn’t let you lift a finger, and so once the pizza arrived, he brought you a few slices on a plate with breadsticks and garlic cream cheese dip.
“Thank you, Pietro.”
“Of course.” He grinned, plopping back down in his spot between you and Wanda.
You had only been awake for a handful of hours, and yet you suspected that this constant attention from the silver-haired speedster wasn’t going anywhere any time soon.
***
You were right. It was about two weeks later. You’d made a full recovery and were back to your usual level of activity. You were in the training facility doing your daily workout when Pietro sped in. You were on the treadmill, just finishing up, when he strolled over, a grin on his face.
“I’ve been looking for you.”
“Oh yeah?” You asked, slowing the treadmill to a stop and leaning against the rails, taking a moment to catch your breath. “May I ask why?”
“One of the interns is making a coffee run.”
“Oh hell yeah.” You took a long sip from your water bottle. “Well, thank you for letting me know.”
“Of course.” He grinned, leaning against your treadmill. “How are you today?”
You smiled, heat flushing your cheeks. You blame it on the workout, but you knew there might be another reason for it… “I’m good, how are you?”
“Good.” He replied. “I’m good.” He paused, holding up his hand, his knuckles red and bloody. “I did hurt my hand, though…”
“Oh, here.” You took his hand in yours and held your other palm over it, letting your power glow for a few seconds until the wound healed up. “There. Good as new.”
He exhaled a breath, clenching and unclenching his hand. With it, he reached up and gently traced your jaw. He leaned forward and pressed his forehead against yours, causing a flurry of butterflies to erupt in your stomach. “You’re incredible. So incredible.”
You stared into his blue, blue eyes for what felt like eternities, his warm breaths ghosting across your cheeks. And then the moment was over. He pulled away from you, pressing a quick kiss to your forehead.
“Want a ride?”
“To where, the living room?” You laughed. “Sure, why—?” There was a rush of cold air and suddenly, you were in the living room, Pietro cradling you in his arms. “Not.” You looked up at him, tucking a piece of hair back behind your ear. “Wow, you’re fast.”
He grinned and you swore his cheeks got a shade redder than they were previously. “I am, aren’t I?”
You ordered your coffee from the intern and waited for Pietro to order his, but he didn’t.
“Aren’t you getting anything?”
“Oh, I don’t like coffee.” He shrugged, and then winked at you. “But you do, so…”
***
It was a few weeks later. You’d known Pietro for a little over a month at this point. You were in your room, reading. It was getting late and you knew that, but you also didn’t want to go to sleep until you finished the chapter you were on.
You heard a knock on your doorframe and looked up to find Pietro standing there, his hair a tousled mess and dark bags under his eyes.
“Nightmare?”
He nodded.
“Come on in.” You scooted over and patted the side of the bed and immediately, he zipped over. “You okay?”
“Better now.” He said, his voice low and raspy.
You closed your book and set it on your nightstand to give him your full attention.
“Can we talk?” He asked.
“Of course, Pietro. What’s on your mind?”
“I…I don’t even know.” He let out a long breath. “I keep thinking about…that day. And I’m not sure why.”
“Well, it was traumatic. Dying, even briefly, is hard to recover from. Emotionally, that is.”
“Hmm.” He hummed, nodding. “Am I the only one…that you’ve…”
“No. There was one other. Some S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. I don’t even remember her name. It was a long time ago. But those were the only two successful times.”
“What do you mean?”
“Sometimes I’m just…too late. If I don’t get to the body in time…” You shuddered and shook your head. “I got really, really lucky with you, Pietro. If I was any further away, I don’t think…” Your stomach dropped at the thought and you couldn’t continue.
“Don’t think like that.” He said softly, one of his large hands rising to your face. His warmth was incredible, calming.
You leaned into his touch, resting your hand on top of his.
“I’m right here, printsessa.” He leaned in closer. “I’m not going anywhere.”
“Good.”
“There’s…something else.” He said, his voice wavering. “I don’t think it’s any secret, but, I’ve fallen for you, (Y/N). We are so close and I love it, but the only time we’ve ever kissed was when I was unconscious. I…would like to change that.” He paused, looking deep into your eyes. “But only if that’s okay with you.”
“Oh thank God.” You exhaled a relieved breath, your eyes sparkling and heart racing. “I was worried you were only hanging around me because I saved you. I didn’t think you were into me.”
“How could I not be?” His thumb rubbed your cheek affectionately. “You are kind and clever and selfless and brave, not to mention the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I’d have to be stupid to let you slip through my fingers.”
You were both quiet for a beat before he asked, his voice soft, “So…can I kiss you?”
You leaned in closer until your lips were less than an inch away from his before whispering, “Do you even have to ask?”

Do You Ever Feel Like A Misfit (Everything Inside You Is Dark & Twisted)
Dick Grayson x Reader
Word Count: 3.5K (I don't know how tf that happened)
Warnings: Explicit language, Blood and Violence, lots of angst, Hurt/Comfort ✌
A/N: Guess who's back! Just for some context the reader is a magic user and her style is similar to that of Zatanna <3
•°•°•°•°
She’d have reasoned with herself that stealing from one of the most secure and heavily guarded safe-houses of a deranged sociopath was probably not the brightest idea she’s had all day. It never even made it on her to-do-list for the weekend, but here she was, running across rooftops, holding on to the stolen totem like her life depended on it, it probably did. The three assassins sent after her were no Lady Shiva or Talia Al Ghul but they weren’t exactly amateurs either. The deep cuts and two broken ribs she got from their earlier encounter were proof of that.
She glanced back and even though there was no sign of her would-be-killers she knew better than to assume they’d just let her be. They were sticking to the shadows, exploiting her blind spots. The only thing she was sure of was that they were still hot on her trail and would happily plunge a dagger into her back given the opportunity.
She was right. As of this moment she hated being right.
She caught the glint of the two sharp objects slicing through the air, hurtling towards her at full speed. A slight shift of her upper body was all she could manage as one of the daggers got embedded right into her scapula while the other one, fortunately so, whirled past her, slightly grazing her left hip. The impact of the blade on her shoulder made her lose what little balance she had left. Despite her best efforts, when the wounded shoulder made contact with the hard concrete, a loud, ear-piercing cry ripped out from her throat before she could push it back down.
Cursing under her breath she knew, she knew all she had were those few seconds of numbness and disorientation to get a grip and figure out her exit strategy. However, all her hopes started to sink as she saw one of the assassins come closer, appearing more of a blur than a person. Then again that was probably because of the nice, little concussion she got from her fall. The assassin walked over to her, unsheathed their sword and placed it right on her neck, blocking any and every way out.
“You were warned. The Demon’s Head does not tolerate treachery. We are here under his orders to bring back the totem along with the witch’s head; your head”
If she could, she would’ve rolled her eyes at the classic villainous dialogues thrown at her.
“Witch? Who’re you calling a witch Snow White? I’m clearly a sorceress, don’t they teach you the difference between the two in assassin school or something? Hell, I’d even let you call me an enchantress, though that name’s already been taken but you get my poin-”
The remaining words died in her throat as the sword on her neck shifted slightly. She knew she had extremely poor self preservation skills considering she’s clearly been instigating the very person sent to kill her, but even she wasn’t dumb enough to keep talking when the tiniest movement on either part could result in her having a severed jugular or carotid.
‘This is a pretty shitty way to die’
She thought back to how she used the last of her mystic energy to hide the totem away before her fall and how stupid that decision really was because now she could actually feel the agonizing pain coming from her shoulder. It started to spread throughout her back like wildfire, eyelids grew heavy against her wishes. Suddenly she felt really tired and the idea to close her eyes just felt so goddamn appealing.
‘No (Y/N) that’s the blood loss talking. Blood loss doesn’t get to make decisions’, she mentally scolded herself, still not breaking her eye contact with the person standing above her.
“Give us what you stole and we shall grant you the mercy of a quick death.”
That made her raise an eyebrow, “Ah, lemme think...the correct response here would be…”, she hummed, making a show of how hard she was thinking about the offer she was granted, “How about a fuck you? How would that do for you?”, she gave them a vicious grin, it was all teeth.  They probably weren’t impressed by her response and it showed.
She knew there was no way out but she had promised herself once that if she were to die, that if she ever goes out, she’d be anything but a whimpering and sobbing mess. She was scared shitless, more so than she’d ever been while fending off the league, she won’t deny that but she would rather die than let them know that.  ‘Well at least I got that ‘rather die’ part down to a T.’ she thought, eyeing the sharpness of the blade which was now raised up in the air
She felt bad for just giving up the way she did. Her whole life she was told to fight her way through the impossible, to attain the strength rivaling that of Zatanna Zatara, John Constantine and Doctor Fate himself. To be better than them, and there she was lying on the ground limp as a sword came down on her throat; all for a silly necklace. She would’ve huffed out a laugh if only her ribs weren’t broken, if only her body wasn’t screaming in pain, if only she had a way out. She didn’t. She was too tired, too drained, too numb to do anything else. Closing her eyes she stopped fighting, she let her growing unconsciousness claim her.
‘This is what you deserve anyway’, her barely there conscience remarked.
‘Fuck you too.’ she replied.
Everything went pitch black. The darkness encompassing her was peaceful, unlike the pain she had felt before. It was nice for a change. It sounded pathetic  but she couldn’t bring herself to care.
•°•°
When she came to, the first thing she observed was the feeling of something soft against her back, next was a dull rhythmic sound which she realized was her own heartbeat. Though opening her eyes was a tiring task. It shouldn’t have been, but it was. She used all the energy she had into it and her eyelids fluttered open. She stared at the white ceiling and stayed like that for a few seconds; a few minutes? She couldn’t tell, but the pain was back now, not too much but enough to tell her it was there, to tell she was still alive.
She saw something shift in her peripheral vision and her body instinctively went stiff. Her mind which was blank before now ran in all directions.
‘Could be Ra’s Al Ghul… Could be worse’, she tried not to think about the worst case scenario, but she knew she had pissed off a lot of beings, beings far more powerful and far crueler than Ra’s himself. An involuntary shudder passed through her at the thought. That must’ve caught her captor’s attention as she felt the person move closer to her. Begrudgingly, she tore her gaze from the spot on the ceiling which she had been staring at this whole time and tilted her head. The man in black and blue who appeared, was probably the last person she had expected to see.
“Nightwing…”
Her voice was barely above a whisper and the hoarseness with which it came out it took her by surprise, but her body visibly relaxed at the sight of the familiar figure, at the sight of someone who would never hurt her.
She watched him pull out a chair from the desk nearby. He sat next to the bed she was lying on and gave her a soft smile, a smile that spelled one word ‘relieve’. She remembered how when she first met him two years ago, she found that particular smile extremely annoying, she had no reason to, but she did. What she couldn’t remember was when she had grown so fond of it.
“How do you feel?”
“Like shit.”
He snorted a laugh which made her pout. She was planning to point out how he was being mean; laughing at her when her response truly defined the way she was feeling, but any words she thought of were cut off by the change in his expression. His smile faltered, lips were now pressed in a thin line, face contorted in a way which showed his genuine concern.
“This is the second time, this week.”
That you almost died, he didn’t say. That I had to save you and bring you back from the clutches of death, he didn’t say.
“I know.”
“That doesn’t make it better.”
“I know.”
The silence that settled, stretched far too long for comfort, but she wasn’t going to be the one to break it. She wanted to, but there was nothing she could say, that would make it better. Nightwing ran his fingers through the locks of hair, burying his face in his hands.
For the first time since she woke up, she took in his appearance, he looked disheveled,  his suit was torn in different places along visible faint cuts, most likely he got them when he rescued her. She felt a pang of guilt rising in her chest. He risked his life for her, she knew he had done it before, she didn’t get it then and she didn’t get it now. Why would someone do that? Why would he? She was pulled back from her spiraling thoughts when he spoke again, exhaustion evident in his voice.
“Why are you so reckless?”
“Excuse me?”
She looked at him like he had grown another head. She wasn’t ready for this conversation but by the looks of it they were gonna have it anyway.
“What if I hadn’t been there today? Or any of the other days you almost died. What then?”
“My best guess? I would’ve been dead.”
“And that fact doesn’t bother you at all?!”
She flinched at little when his voice rose, but she stood her ground, at least figuratively since she was still in bed.
“I don’t know, should it?” She didn’t try and tone down the venom dripping from her words. Her words cut deeper than the wounds he got from the assassins; she saw it clear as day on his face. She let out a deep sigh but continued. She had to get it out and he had to hear it, that’s the reason she gave herself for the confession that followed.
“I don’t need your help, Dick. I don’t know what gave you the impression that I did but I’ve never needed it.” She swallowed the lump in her throat. ‘Why was it getting harder to speak?’ “I don’t need you to save me every time. I don’t need you to risk your life for me and I definitely don’t…” She moved to sit up straight, her back resting on the headboard. She shifted her gaze on her open palms resting in her lap; palms covered in blood, in her blood, not very long ago.
“I don’t need you to care...”
The last part was a whisper and Dick was silent, so silent that for a brief moment she wondered if the man she’d come to care about even heard her, admitting something that was so painful for her to say out loud.
Dick moved to sit beside her, his shoulder bumping hers. He didn’t know where all this was coming from but he knew better to leave it unattended.
“(Y/N) I help you because I care about you. I always will, you know that.”
“Why? You have nothing to gain from it”, blinking back the unshed tears in her eyes, she looked at him with a hurt expression as if she couldn’t bring herself to understand.
“Why… as in why do I care?”, Dick tilted his head to look her in the eyes, trying to understand what she meant all the while making sure not to let his own surprise at her words show. She nodded not trusting her voice to not betray her anymore than it already had.
“I don’t care about you because I feel like you need it nor because I would gain something from it”, Dick knew he shouldn’t have to explain it to her. He briefly wondered what she had gone through to make her think that she needed to be useful to be cared for or that she had to need it to be cared for. He felt something pull at his heart at the thought; It was sorrow.
“I care about you because… well I do and there’s nothing you could or couldn’t do to change that. And it is because I care about you that I ask you to be better at taking care of yourself. Now I know for a fact that whatever you stole from The League’s safehouse definitely did not belong there, but I also know that whatever it was, it wasn’t worth your life (Y/N) It never will be.”
Dick grasped one of her hands, interlacing his gloved fingers with hers; she hadn’t even realized she was shaking until he did so. Closing her eyes, she forced herself to take a deep breath despite her protesting ribs. Opening the palm of her free hand she muttered an incantation with practiced ease
“Eveirter tahw saw neddih “, her hand glowed, the golden aura taking the shape of a object. When the light subsided, Dick saw the object in her palm as she rubbed her thumb across it, quietly leaning her head on his shoulder.
“It was this totem. It belongs to Madame Xanadu. Don’t know what Ra’s wanted it for though”, she shrugged as best as she could with an injured shoulder then continued, voice firmer than it had been the whole evening,“ She asked me to retrieve it in exchange for information on a girl I was looking for. The girl was somehow sucked into some other dimension, a mystic one and her mother was so desperate when she approached me that I just couldn’t say no. So when I say the Totem was important, then I want you to know that it really is.”
Dick shook his head at that. “Still not worth your life.”
“Dick…”, she sighed. It was all she could do at the moment because she was really getting tired from all the arguing.
“Do you remember the first time we met?”
“You mean the time I met the infamous vigilante Nightwing in a dumpster of all places.”
“In my defense I was badly injured”, she hummed in agreement.
“You smelled bad”
“You try smelling like flowers after falling from a building and into an open dumpster.”
His playful grumbling pulled a short laugh out of her. She was more than a little confused at the sudden trip into the past but happily accepted it as a change of topic. She should’ve know better than to think he’d have let the matter go.
“Anyway my point is when you saw me that day, you first instinct was to help me. You pulled me out and used your magic to heal my wounds. You didn’t have to. You could’ve dropped me at a hospital. You could’ve even walked away and pretended that you never saw me, but you didn’t. Why is that?”
“Because I thought you were handsome?”, she said trying to lighten this too-heavy-for-comfort conversation he was trying to have.
“Nice try. I know you. You saved me because you cared. You helped me and the Titans save the city more than once because you cared. It is who you are. I’ve seen you care about and worry over complete strangers without conditions. So why do you think that there has to be some kind of a barter system when it comes to you? Why think that I would want to gain something if I cared about you?”
“Because everyone else did.”
The words shot out from her mouth quicker than she realized. She had voiced her greatest insecurity to the one person who never had anything to add to it and Dick’s heart clenched at the implications of her words, ‘She has never been loved unconditionally before’ his brain provided.
The tears she blinked back earlier came back with full force. She felt two strong arms that wrapped around her, all the while being mindful of her injuries. Dick pulled her into a hug and that was it. She couldn’t control the sobs that tore through her throat, the pain in her body flared due her erratic movements. She knew once the tears started flowing they wouldn’t stop at least not for a while, but now that her façade had been broken she couldn’t bring herself to give it another thought.
He waited for her to let it out, let out all the pent up emotions she had. Now that he thought about it he had never seen her cry. He never questioned it, maybe he should’ve.
“I don’t know who’s responsible for hurting you (Y/N), God, how much I wish I did”, his arms slightly tighten around her at that. “I am so sorry that you have felt like you have to have your walls up all the time, even around me and I should’ve seen that, I should’ve realized that before but I didn’t and I am so sorry for that. I can’t undo the damage you’ve endured and I will not pretend that I can. What I can do is promise you that I’d never let you down like that, never.”
The words he spoke were clear. He didn’t try to tell her to put her walls down, to trust him when she had no reason to. He also didn’t need to justify himself or make such over the top promises but it felt nice to hear it. She had already stopped crying the moment he started speaking again but she still had her forehead pressed against his chest, listening to his heartbeat, it was calming in a way she couldn’t describe. She pulled her head back to look at him, and the honesty in his voice earlier matched the one in his eyes.
“Okay”
Hearing her response, he gave her his signature grin. It sent unexpected warmth through her, he always had that effect on her. She was sure she was just blushing at this point and was suddenly thankful for the dim lighting in the room.
She ended up composing herself rather quickly, jabbing a finger at his armored chest with her usual smirk plastered on her face.
“Now that you’ve made that promise, know this, Dick Grayson, if you let me down I will drop a mountain on you.”
“You mean that figuratively?”
“No I mean that geologically”, he waited for her to say she was kidding. She didn’t.
“Alright, alright”, He held his hands out in mock surrender. After considering the look in her eyes, Dick refrained from questioning the feasibility of that action nor did he want to question her magical abilities or intent. Last he remembered, Wally did that and that conversation ended with him being teleported to Sahara and Dick would very much like to avoid the same fate as his best friend.
Deciding that was more than enough exhaustion for one night, he got up from the bed and kissed her goodnight, informing her that he’d be sleeping on the couch so that he wouldn’t accidently hit her injuries in his sleep. She agreed and watched him slip out of the room before falling into the blissful sleep she had been putting off since forever.
•°•°
She knew Dick Grayson was full of surprises but the next morning when he put forward the offer of become a full time Titan, in front of her, she wondered if she fell from the bed in her sleep and ended up  getting another concussion because he was so not making any sense.
“So let me get this straight, you want me to come live with you and your superhero friends, in the Titans freaking Tower?!”
“I was hoping for a little less yelling after an emotional evening but yes that is exactly what I’m asking.”
“Dick that’s just ridiculous!”
“Look, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.”
He looked like a kicked puppy which made her feel kinda guilty for all the yelling.
“It’s not that…It’s just there is still a lot about me I haven’t told them. There is still a lot I haven’t told you. I don’t see a reason why you all would want to trust a possible threat, let alone live with it”, she gestured to herself.
Dick felt like there was a deeper meaning behind her words, as if she was voicing her own fear rather than theirs but he trusted her enough to tell him about it when she was ready, on her own terms. He could wait till then but for now he crossed the short distance between them, going around the breakfast table till he stood in front of her. He grasped both of her hands in his and ran his thumb soothingly across her knuckles. He bent down to place a soft kiss on her forehead, and then moved to meet her gaze.
“(Y/N), I know you and I trust you and…It sounds silly considering I was raised by the worlds greatest detective but I believe that you don’t have to know every little detail about someone as long as you already know what’s in their heart.” Bruce probably would’ve disagreed but he wasn’t Bruce.
“And you know what’s in mine?”
“And I know what’s in yours.” His statement was firm and left no room for argument, not when it came to this.
“If you’re sure about this, then I guess...”
“Is that a yes I’m hearing?”, There was that smile again, seriously what was up with him and his smile that made her giddy inside.
In between thoughts she realized he was still waiting for a response so she nodded. Any underlying doubts she had about her answer vanished when she took in how happy it made him. As cheesy as it sounded seeing him happy made her happy. A part of her said it wouldn’t last long, but seeing her boyfriend hop onto the couch full of joy as he called his friends about the latest development in their lives, she wanted to believe otherwise.

[𝙎𝙪𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙘] (001)
Tumblr media
Jujutsu Kaisen x Male reader
Warning: Mentions of su!cide, gore, violence, and strong themes
"𝘿𝙖𝙢𝙣, 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨."
A smooth honey like voice dripped with interest of the vessel that stood before him. The male's eyes casted down before traveling back up the first year's torso. He licked his lip at the sight with a smirk.
"Oya? Oya? N/n-Chan where did you come from? You were supposed to be in Hyogo." A blindfolded sensei questioned. N/n, or better known as M/n sent a small wave at his underclassmen, who gaped at both his sensei and senpai with wide eyes. "Oh the other second-years would love this." M/n took out his phone and and started taking an array of photos of Megumi.
"Anyways, I was, heard there was a SGP (special grade problem) going on. Thought I'd check it out. You too?" He lazily draped himself against the older. "The elders complained about putting my abilities to good use." Gojo chuckled remembering the annoying email from the secretary. "Anyways, who's this?" "Yuji Itadori sir!" The pinkette quickly bowed. A hearty laugh bubbled in M/n's throat at the formal honorific.  "Get up no need for that, cause a nice senpai like me cares for underclassman." The male proudly pointed to himself.
"M/n L/n. Say where is the cursed object anyways?" Itadori sweat dropped. "Well I ate it." "Damn the kid has balls." M/n bluntly stated making a certain raven haired sorcerer flustered at the vulgar statement. "So how's Sukuna, or whatever his face is?" The (e/c) orbs analyzed Itadori looking for any sign of the curse. "He's annoying, he keeps on talking." Tapping his head with his palm signaling the telepathic link. "10 seconds."
"Huh?" "Come on back after 10 seconds." Gojo reiterated. "I dunno about this." "Don't worry I'm the strongest." M/n playfully rolling his eyes. "And if it gets out of hand, I'm stronger." "Megumi, hold onto this will ya." Gojo tossed a paper bag towards him. "Can you also hold onto this? It's killing my back." The second-year threw a heavy duffel bag Fushiguro's way, almost knocking him out. "What's this?" Megumi's eyes lingered on the white bag. "Kikufuku Mochi." His eyebrow twitched at the information. 'He was buying souvenirs, while people were dying?!'
"Aww Megumi they're not souvenirs. They're for the bullet train back." Sukuna was suddenly in the air about to pounce on the 'unsuspecting' male. "Behind you!" Fushiguro yelled worriedly. Gojo dodged getting close to the curse's ear. "Two of my students are watching so, I hope you don't mind me showing off." He turned sending a blow towards Sukuna's back, making him stumble. 'He's unbelievably fast. Not only that-.'
"It doesn't matter what era it is, you guys are always a pain you stupid Jujutsu sorcerer! He dryly laughed. "But that doesn't matter to me." With a flick of his wrist chunks of concrete flew towards Gojo. Who when the dust cleared stood unscathed holding the rubble as nothing. "Should be about time." M/n clicked his tongue, while filing his nails next to Fushiguro. The markings on Itadori's body disappearing. "What a surprise! You can control it!" He yelled. "He's kind of annoying though." Itadori repeated.
"It's a miracle that's the only side effect." With that, the older tapped his head knocking the first-year out. "Aww booooo I was looking forward to annoying Sasuki more." The M/n whined like a toddler throwing away his file. "What did you do?" Fushiguro asked ignoring his senpai. "He's knocked out." Gojo stated holding onto the passed out male. "I though you were smarter then that Megumiii." The two once again ignored the manic (h/c-ette). "If he wakes up and isn't possessed...he might have potential as a vessel." He reasoned. "Quick question what do I do with him?" M/n sweat dropped. "Even if he has potential, under Jujutsu regulations he must be executed..." He drawled off. "But I don't want to let him die!" Fushiguro finished with a determined look.
"Is that a personal opinion?" M/n playfully teased. "Yes, a personal opinion. Please do something about it." "Hmm a precious student's request." Gojo scratched his chin in 'thought'. "Leave it to me, and your senpai!" He exclaimed. "So with that, let me reiterate...you're gonna be executed." The blindfolded teacher waved his hands around in finger guns. "This story doesn't make sense so far." Itadori grumbled. "Hey, Man, I tried. An execution is an execution, but I managed to suspend the sentencing."
"A suspended sentencing? So it's on hold now?" The pinkette questioned. "Yup. Let me explain from the top." Gojo went to grab something out of his pocket realizing it was gone. "Looking for this?" M/n's form came out of the shadows, holding up the shriveled appendage. "This look familiar?" Itadori raised a brow. "Another finger?" "Ding ding ding. You want a cookie or something?" M/n leaned on his sensei's shoulder aggravating him even more. "Its the same cursed object you so voluntarily consumed. There's 20 total, we're in possession of six." "Twenty? Oh, including both arms and legs." Nodding his head in understanding. "Wrong, Sukuna has four arms." M/n stated nonchalantly tossing the finger up for Gojo to blast towards the wall creating a small crater like hole. The finger looked unscathed. "As you can see, you can't destroy it. It's that powerful of a curse.
With every passing day it gets even stronger." The (h/c-ette) moved from his place wandering behind Itadori, the hot breath on his neck made himself shutter. "That's where you come in. You die, the curse in you dies as well." M/n moved back rocking back on his heels. "The Elders have a stick up their ass and wanted to kill you right away. My dear Gojo and I thought it be a waste for a pretty face like you to offed yet."
A small pink flush dusted against Itadori's cheeks. "There's no guarantee that another vessel able of controlling of Sukuna will ever come around again. So... our proposal was, "if we're gonna kill him, why not after he takes in the rest of Sukuna". Killing two birds with one stone really. Your two choices right now are either to die now or wait to find the rest of Sukuna and die then." An intimidating aura surrounding M/n.
The next day
"Who died?" M/n asked picking at his nails, feeling oddly uncomfortable around the place heavy with death and sadness. "My Grandpa,he was more of a dad I guess though." Itadori hung his head. "I see, sorry to bother you at a time like this." Gojo apologized sitting himself next to the male. "Are there a lot of casualties with curses like this?"
"This is a pretty uncommon circumstance...But if you're talking about potential damage, yes." In the corner of Gojo's eyes he could see M/n's hand start to tremor. "...Let's just say, you're lucky to die normally after an encounter with a curse. Finding a body torn in two is still a light death compared to the others..." M/n stare burned into the bench a few feet in front of them. Walking off as flashes of blood painting the walls continued replaying in his head. "What's wrong with him?" Itadori asked looking off towards where the male went off to. "Not many things are known about M/n. Supposedly during a special grade case, they had found a witness around the age of 7 standing in the middle of what was assumed his family. The report was hard to read not much about the kid except the crazed look in his eyes and the astronomical amounts of cursed energy spilling from his body.
The case was left unfinished because they couldn't understand what exactly happened. The one account from the boy saying that it was a monster who killed his family. Of course when they checked there wasn't a sign of a curse. The elders shut the case down and took in the kid in, fear of his powers haunting them. From what I know, he was taught by the principal himself how to control his cursed abilities. When I was in my last year, I heard about an incident including the boy with a special grade. It had changed him from an outgoing and friendly person to a husk of one. He distanced himself and gained the liking of inducing pain on himself. He's strange that's for sure." A vision of a preteen M/n slitting his arms for an 'experiment'.
He claimed the experiment was to figure out how many cuts he could endure before passing out. Itadori stared at the older with an opened mouth. An image of the bandaged male popped into his head. 'Bandages'. "When I saw him pass in the hallways smiling like no tomorrow, made me think if the incident had never happened to him..."
"...He would have a normal life" he finished the other's sentence. "But that kind of thinking is common when you first get into the game. You learn how to ignore those thoughts. Those thoughts alone could drive a man insane. If you start investigating the remains of Sukuna, you'd probably some gruesome scenes, every sorcerer has their case that changes them wether it be for the best or the worst. Pick your hell."
"If Sukuna is eliminated, will there be fewer people killed by curses?" Itadori's grandpa's words rung in his head. "Of course." Gojo nodded his head. "You got that other finger?" "Yeah." Gojo placed the object in his hand. Itadori took a second to study it. "Now that I look at it it is pretty disgusting." He said tossing the appendage into his mouth absent mindedly swallowing it with a gross gulp. 'That's one tenth of Sukuna, how will that sit?' Black marks appeared on his body before leaving as quickly as they came. "Blaughhh, that was so gross." The male wrapped a hand around his throat at the taste. 'He's able to control Sukuna without a problem, heh.' Gojo thought. "I take it you're prepared for what's to come?" "Not at all. I am wondering why I have to be executed though. But I know I can't leave this curse alone. It's final, I'm gonna eat the rest of Sukuna. That's all"
"Yahooo! I'm back!" An overly enthusiastic voice emerged. M/n ran over waving his hands around.  A bag slung around his shoulders. Something seemed off. An evident bruise starting to form around his neck peeking out from the loosely wrapped bandages.  A cut lip and a few more scrapes littering his face. "What happened?" M/n shrugged still smiling. "Just a fight, this delinquent looking guy said he had a bone to pick with me, he had his fun....and so did I~" He took out his phone, shoving it into both of their faces. Sure enough a buff looking male was in tears, tied up. "The old wasabi and mustard up the nose always works like a charm." M/n shoved the device back into his coat, before handing the paper bag over to Gojo who quirked his brow.
"I went on a little trip into town and got you this~" The male's hands roamed around the bag pulling out a box. "I saw this delectable Mochi stand and turns out their family were from Sendai. What's the chance they made kikufuku? I got them for free since the owner was an old friend. Told 'em it was a gift for someone special." He winked at the end. Sukuna lowly growled barely loud enough for Itadori to hear. 'What's your problem?' 'Shut it brat.' Sukuna coldly snapped.
"This is why you're my favorite second-year." Gojo chuckled as if he were a grade school girl. "Looks like it's shaping up to be a fun hell. Get your belongings together by the end of the day." He turned towards Itadori, Megumi now standing behind him. "We goin' somewhere?" "Tokyo." Fushiguro answered with a battered face. "Ah! My little Meg-Chan is back!" M/n attacked the poor male in a tackle like hug. Snuggling his face further into the first-year's chest. A red hue danced acrossed the ravenette's face, as Gojo secretly took pictures.
Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical School The walk to the school was quiet, the only noise being the light chatter being shared between the two with occasional comments from M/n, who's interest was glued to a small book in his hands.  The quietness of the curse had caught Itadori off guard, causing questions to form about his weird behavior. Sukuna seemed to keep his gaze fixed onto the object held by the other. 'The book he's holding..' Itadori's eyes flickered over to the small piece of literature questioning it's importance. "What are you reading?"
"Just an old book I'm rereading." The male had answered turning to the next page. "If you have already read it why are you reading it again?" His curiosity had gotten the better of him. "A good book never gets old no matter how many times you read it." What confused Itadori, is why Sukuna was so fixated on the older. A soft thud sounded out as M/n closed the book, placing it back into his pocket. "Anyways, you're about to have an interview with the principal." "The principal?!" He exclaimed confused.
"There's a high probability he could reject you so make sure you go all out." M/n said once again picking at his nails in amusement. "What then! Immediate execution?" He snapped making the former quirk a brow at his statement. A small mouth formed onto his cheek.
"So you're not the boss? Pathetic, a hierarchy that isn't based off of strength is worthless." Itadori slapped a hand over his cheek, keeping Sukuna from further speaking. "I'm sorry about him, he pops out." "You have quite the amusing body now." M/n cheekily said. Another small mouth popped out, this time located on his hand. "I owe you a favor you know."
"Not again!"
"Once I make this brat's body my own, you'll be the first one I kill. The male next to you will once again be my king when I take my crown back." M/n crossed his arms in confusion.
"It's an honor to be targeted by Sukuna himself, but what do you mean 'your king once again'?
"Have you ever wondered what caused the incident ten years ago? And why the Elders were so keen on raising him?" The mouth disappeared leaving both Gojo and M/n astounded at the new information.
'How does Sukuna know about that, and why did the elders drop the case as if it were nothing.' "You wouldn't do that would you senpai?" A hopeful smile painted on Itadori's face. "...." The words couldn't form as M/n stood wide-eyed at the curse's words.
  'I wouldn't, would I?...'
