Ryoma Echizen HCs - Gender
Ryoma is a trans man and came out around ten, having a feeling for a little while longer. At first, he only socially transitioned around his family and close friends, but he continued to be closeted for tennis, playing for the girl’s team to avoid transphobic backlash.
When they moved to Japan a few years later, Ryoma took the chance to completely socially transition, and enrolled as a boy and became a member of the boy’s team.
After winning nationals when they move back to America, it’s easy to remain on boy teams because Ryoma won National in Japan for the boy’s team. He has to be a boy to do that.
When Ryoma came out, it wasn’t hard to pick out his chosen name. He picked a name similar to Ryouga because he loved and missed his brother.
Ryoma gets bad periods. He get terrible cramps and can barely even get out of bed. He stays home from school those days.
His parents are working hard to get a doctor to give him medicine to help with them, as well as trying to get him on puberty blockers before it’s too late, and he has to go through a female puberty.
Shortly after they moved back to America, Ryoma started puberty blockers, and he started therapy to see if HRT was the right step for him when he got older.
The first few months at Seishen, Ryoma stayed closeted to the team. He thought that when they found out he was trans that they would kick him out. They didn’t and became super protective of him.
Ryoma was surprised to find out that Kaoru was also trans. Kaoru started giving him tips that he used to lessen dysphoria.
Ryoma always had a feeling that something was wrong, but he didn’t know how to describe it or what it was. It wasn’t until he overheard someone in the park talking about a trans person they knew that he understood what he was.

The Akazaya start a tennis team, what are each of their special moves?
Okay...you know I'm gonna have to take this one way too seriously to the point it's uncomfortable for most of the audience or actually really fun.
See, first we need to understand two things. One, the Akazaya are used to using melee weapons. So ball-and-bat sports of any stripes are in their wheelhouse. Two, they are fiercely competitive with each other. So if we assume the type of team match structure like in Prince of Tennis...
Kiku/Kawamatsu: Second doubles team. The gang likes to lead with a nice, likely win to set the tone and these two are a phenomenal pair. Like Kikumaru/Oishi they're good at the Aussie Formation. Just like in real life, Kiku sits up at the net doing the work of two people with her speed and ridiculous reach...and Kawamatsu is the best at noticing when she's stretching herself too thin. Kiku's specialty is headgames, a big windup that can be absolutely smashing the ball but she can also pull back last second to have it just plop on the other side of the net. Calls it the Fainting Flower. Kawamatsu has his Tsuppari Smash...palms a racket for a sumo thrust that's just a freakin laser.
Kin'emon/Denjiro: First doubles. Kin is a lucky fuckup and Denjiro best knows how to capitalize. Kin's two-sword style makes him a gifted ambidextrous player. But he's not the quickest thinker so he focuses on the serve. His special one is the Foxfire Slice. Flame makes it hard to tell which direction it'll bounce. Denjiro...very skilled. Type to have something like the Tezuka Zone. A defensive pattern where he can really control his opponent. The two will also use Kin's fruit for shenanigans.
Ashura Doji: He had to work really, really hard late nights with Kiku to learn how to hit the ball gently enough it doesn't go out. Third singles, absolute bully on the court. His specialty? Smashing it at his opponent. Always thought tennis was lowkey hardcore for that being a feasible strategy.
Toki: Second singles. She was there when the game was invented. Always seeks it out and was the one who introduced it to Wano. It's a perfectly proper game for a noblewoman to play. She relies on a very refined shot she takes way too much pleasure in naming Togen Topspin.
Raizo: The star, he gets fair treatment in some of these. First singles, doesn't need his fruit to do this but he's the copycat player. Loves beating people with their own moves. Unfortunately, unlike Prince of Tennis's Hiroshi...this does not land Raizo a female fanbase.
Oh...and Neko/Inu. Look, nature wins out sometimes. You can't be good at tennis if your first instinct is to pounce on the ball & bat it around or chomp down and bring it back to your opponent.

rewatching hyoutei vs rikkai and it’s oshigaku heaven:
gakuto recognising that yuushi isn’t cool/hasn’t shut off his emotions despite the fact that his face and voice are barely any different than usual lol
oshitari leg fetish yuushi cool spraying gakuto’s ankle
the fact that they both have the same Spot(tm) (a la golden pair’s shipping container, such a married couple thing)
gakuto reaching out to the grouchy new transfer student
the moment when chibi yuushi falls in love
yuushi putting aside his cool/strategic tennis for the sake of gakuto’s dream
(and you all know how i feel about the impulsive/emotional dreamer and the cool-headed partner who puts aside reason to spoil/indulge them combination)
yuushi/their combination literally boosting gakuto to new heights that he can’t reach alone
the way he yells “gakutoooooooo” as if that isn’t the least collected, most heated/passionate we’ve ever heard/seen yuushi be in his entire life
and how gakuto just knows what to do, meaning they’ve either practised this before (unlikely?) or they’re basically on the same wavelength
the absolute faith they have in each other doing this manoeuver
yuushi dropping his racket and running over to catch gakuto as he faints like something out of a romance movie
the way he looks so concerned when gakuto falls but then relaxes/is relieved when gakuto opens his eyes and speaks
yuushi doesn’t say “we won”, he says “you and i won”
also bonus jabun feels:
marui and jackal always being the parents of their underclassman
jackal gave up his spot playing doubles with marui for the sake of rikkai despite really wanting to play with bunta ;~~~;
also think of how long he’s had to wait for this opportunity/how hard it must have been to give up considering everything that happened at U-17 camp!!
the way that they share the same values of being selfless (jackal giving up his doubles spot, marui giving jackal’s grip tape [the last token he had of his partner] to choutarou)
marui being angry at tamagawa for wasting jackal’s time and sacrifice
he probably got his “just try to get in my way” philosophy from jackal covering for him while he was trying out his volley techniques in matches (◡‿◡✿)
which reminds me that marui only really lets himself be spoilt when it’s by jackal, i.e. jackal is the only person he trusts to cover for him (in and out of tennis, which is why he’s always foisting things off onto him lmao)

OH BOY DO I HAVE HEADCANONS
Okay to be fair that's more worldbuilding with Bros headcanons thrown in between but here we goooooo!
Mario & Luigi centric :
The Bros are the best friends and brothers anyone can find and it's the most wholesome thing ever...until sports get involved. Peach didn't believe her eyes the first time she watched them play Strikers and Luigi almost bit Mario's hand off after the latter tackled him into the electric wire. Kart, tennis, even golf, the moments the boys are facing each other in a no-stakes competition, the white gloves are OFF
Luigi is ridiculously perceptive and attractive to paranormal and mystic stuff. Ghosts love him (with their love ranging from worship to the desire of shaking him apart like a dog's chew toy), he waltzes into dreams and strange dimensions...Thankfully Mario is there to ground him into reality.
I used to say Mario was a cat person and Luigi a dog person but NO! Both bros are cat persons, Polterpup is just Luigi's exception to his fear of dogs.
It's not that Mario is a bad cook, it's just that he doesn't hate the patience to go through all the steps to cut vegetables, boil the water, heat the oven, etc...and most of his favourite dishes are rather long to prepare. He prefers baking, at least you can snack on the ingredients while cleaning up.
(depends on my mood and the tone of my writing but generally :) Mario can usually talk normally, but he sometimes goes through periods of mutism, Luigi or Peach acting as his spokespersons when it happens.Even Bowser has gotten pretty good at reading his non-verbal communication over the years.
Because the Firebrand and Thunderhand are reliant on the magic of the Bean Bean kingdom, they can't use it as much outside of it, not without hurting themselves...but they absolutely took the risk here and there to mess with the other (Mario warming up random stuff that Luigi would touch on a hot day, Luigi sending a small jolt to tickle Mario).
General lore
In most kingdoms of the magic world, no matter their age or marital status, rulers are Princes or Princesses. They only get granted the title of King or Queen once they produce a heir.
Boos are...not exactly an exception. They don't really have Prince(sses) and come into their title of King when they manage to create a sentient copy of themselves that they send into the world. Thus why there are many King Boos.
Bend or Break/Movie verse: Bowser's kingdom and the Mushroom Kingdom have very different views on Power ups : the former considers them shameful cheats to make up for a lack of personal power/magic, while the latter appreciates how they give a chance for anyone to fight against a danger without having to be a real soldier.
Power ups can be found in two manners:
1) naturally in the wild (especially mushroom-based power ups), but they're very difficult to find and in dangerous places.
2) The Question Mark Blocks appear in zones when you have more chances to find a natural power up : they act as a sort of magnet for that power up, and as they're more accessible and visible, they're a safer method to collect them. However, once punched, you need to wait a certain time before the box "recharges", and only if it's put in a zone with a chance of natural power up showing up.
Power ups have secondary effects if you use them for too long, usually affecting body then mind on the long term. Thankfully it's very rare to maintain them for long, since getting hurt or knocked up happens a lot.

RELATIONSHIP TO GREER: Most of his life, Greer was like a best friend inside of their home. Yet, when you grow up in a Succession-esque household, there are certain unspoken rules about loyalty and comradery. Siblinghood was always a game – fun, for the most part, but competitive and always marred by the inevitable awareness that there was always a great deal at stake and that one could end up finding himself on the losing side. Luckily, for most of their lives, the Unfavorite gracefully assumed that position – which neither he, nor Greer ever questioned. But Edward knew that there were always boundaries to his relationship with the golden girl, there were secrets to be kept from her, lies to be told to appease her, because he knew – as his twin did – that Greer would gladly throw any of them under a bus coming in at full speed if she knew that would expand her advantage in their parents’ rankings.
HOW THEY EMBODY THEIR SKELETON TROPE: The linen shirts, the tailored suits and the cashmere sweaters attest to his love of all things fine and luxurious. Edward is the stereotypical Barbie of northeastern rich men: his favorite sport is skiing; he loves a good glass of premium aged scotch; and his go-to Holiday getaway is quick trip to Europe. All this privilege makes him a little out of touch with reality. Sometimes he just doesn’t get the so-called “small pleasures of life”. (Also, I wasn’t sure if you wanted artistic as in art only or other forms of being artistic, so I mixed it up a little! But if you wanted art only, feel free to drop another ask!)
Atobe x writer s/o:
At first, he wouldn’t really pay much attention to it, thinking it is not a form of art but would soon enough realise it is a way of expressing yourself, especially once he’d see how serious you are about it.
After that, he’d constantly peek over your shoulder and once you call him out on it, he’d comment he was just checking on you and not like he wants to read it or anything.
But if you let him read, you would be able to see his face light up for a moment before he’d shrug and say ‘sure, might as well’.
Would compliment you about your work and ask you about it more and more as the time passed by, really immersing himself in your work.
Offers his private library for you to do your research in and is all proud of himself when he sees how happy it makes you.
He believes in you so much, he’d be the one investing into your writing and publishing your book if you wanted to do that.
All he’d want in return is a signed copy and a kiss.
Kaido x painter s/o:
He’d fall in love with your work as much as he did with you.
Would love to watch you paint for hours, probably dozing off while you do so, cutely snoring away.
If you ever ask him to pose for you, he’d be very shy and insecure about it, but would try it out. As he would, he’d find a new admiration for you being able to do this for hours because even staying in the same position isn’t as simple as he assumed.
Though he is bad at it, he’d love to try it out and paint with you. Especially would love you showing him how to do little details and colour combinations.
He’d take a lot of pride coming to your exhibitions and watching others marvel at your work. Definitely would not have to go to the bathroom to wash away the small tears that prickled corners of his eyes.
As a surprise, he’d take an art class and try to make you a gift on his own. It wouldn’t be great, but it would be from the heart
Akutsu x dancer s/o:
He would think of it more as a hobby than an art, in the beginning. However, watching you practise until your legs hurt every day would slowly convince him otherwise.
Wouldn’t be as receptive if the dances are classical or ballroom ones as he would of the hip hop or modern ones. But with time, seeing your body flow to the music, he’d understand the beauty behind it.
Attends every single of your performances, even if he says he dislikes it. Deep down, you know you have his undying support.
As he opens up more to the idea, he’d ask you to teach him some moves and he’d be surprisingly good at them.
Eventually, he’d find out about breakdancing and would instantly fall in love with it.
From then on, his goal would be to dance on stage with you, no matter what your style is.

Coming Out
Summary: Momo noticed that Ryoma wasn't at practice, and later learned he was also not at school. He decided to check on Ryoma on his way home.
Characters: Ryoma Echizen, Takeshi Momoshiro
Word Count: 1081
“Where’s Ryoma?” Momo asked, looking around the tennis court.
Practice started about fifteen minutes ago, and they would normally have a few stragglers who joined late for various reasons. Momo knew this well as he was often one of them, but it was rare for Ryoma to be late, unless there was something else school related he was assigned to.
His under classmate looked over at him from where he was practicing his swing. “He wasn’t in class today,” he replied.
Momo raised an eyebrow and wondered to himself. He decided he would go by Ryoma’s house on his way home to check on him. He couldn’t help but worry for Ryoma, especially when he noticed the young man didn’t look the greatest the day before during the practice.
The rest of practice went on as normal, but it did feel a little off without their smallest starter around. Momo waved goodbye to the others after showering and grabbing his school bag. He knew the route to Ryoma’s house well since he’s rode it multiple times before.
Momo didn’t think the visit would take long. After all, he was just seeing if Ryoma was sick or not, and if he was sick, he wanted to see how the younger man was doing.
When he pulled up to the house, he noticed the two cars that belonged to Ryoma’s family weren’t at the house. That meant either Ryoma was home alone or that he wasn’t at home. If he wasn’t at home, that would make this visit quicker. Momo stopped his bike by the gate and kicked down the stand before walking up to the front door. He noted that Ryoma’s window was closed as he knocked on the door.
It felt like a few minutes before the door finally opened. It was probably only a minute, but it felt much longer. There stood Ryoma, dressed in sweatpants and an old t-shirt. He has seen better days. The boy’s eyes widened at the sight of his teammate.
“Momo! What are you doing here?”
The older boy could tell the other was nervous by his tone. He also looked tense, staring up at his friend. Ryoma shifted on his feet as Momo rubbed the back of his neck.
“You weren’t at practice, and Horio said you also weren’t in class. I, um, just wanted to come check on you,” explained Momo.
Ryoma got quiet, nodding. He couldn’t meet Momo’s eyes, causing Momo to worry even more. Before Momo could open his mouth to ask what was wrong, Ryoma’s legs gave out.
The older boy caught him, noticing how his legs were shaking. Momo frowned, and his body moved before his brain caught up. He helped Ryoma back into the house and started to walk to the nearby dining room table to get him to sit.
“Momo,,, can you help me to my room?”
“Huh? Oh yeah.”
Momo changed his path to Ryoma’s room without another word. He had been in there a few times, mainly to play video games on their days off. He supposed if Ryoma was feeling this unwell, then his bed would be more comfortable.
When they got to his room, the older boy sat Ryoma down on his bed. Ryoma couldn’t meet Momo’s eyes, and his cheeks were pink.
“,,, so you’re sick. I’ll leave and let you rest,” Momo went to leave, not wanting to make Ryoma any more uncomfortable than he already was.
Ryoma bit his lip, wondering if he should say anything. There were many things running through his head. When Momo got to the door and was about to leave, he made up his mind.
“I’m not sick.”
Momo paused, looking back at the younger boy.
“,,,You don’t need to say anything if you don’t want to, Ryoma. You obviously don’t feel well so I’m not going to push you,” he gave a small smile.
“,,,” Ryoma stared up at him before a sigh left his lips. He looked away as he said something; it was very quiet.
Momo tilted his head a little. “I didn’t quite hear you. What was that?” His tone was very worried.
“I’m on my period.”
The room got quiet. Momo looked at the door before back to Ryoma. He took a step away and closed the door, despite knowing the house was empty, before walking closer to the other side of the room. He spun around Ryoma’s desk chair and sat down.
Ryoma couldn’t meet Momo’s eyes again. He stared down at his hands in his lap, and his cheeks were starting to turn pink again. Momo stared at the younger boy.
“I-I’m not a-”
“So you’re trans?” Momo cut him off; Ryoma’s head snapped up. “What? You’re a trans man, no big deal,,, So your period is that bad, huh?”
The younger boy froze, staring ahead at Momo with wide eyes. He opened and closed his mouth, trying to make words come out, but nothing would escape his lips. Ryoma gave up and responded with a nod. This definitely wasn't the reaction he expected.
Momo relaxed his body, picking up on how nervous Ryoma was. He gave a soft smile. “You know,” he started. “You’re not the only trans man on the team.”
Ryoma tilted his head, knowing he wouldn’t be able to speak. Momo gave a small huff sound before continuing, “Yeah, the rest of the team knows. Sorry, we never said anything; We honestly thought you knew Kaido was trans.”
The younger boy’s eyes widened as he processed it. No words were able to come out of his mouth still; he got like this sometimes in high stress. He couldn’t help it, and Momo knew this.
Momo stood up from his seat and reached over. He ruffled Ryoma’s hair and gave him a smile. “Don’t worry, Ryoma. I won’t tell anyone about this. Come out when you’re ready. Thank you for trusting me.”
The underclass mate looked up at him and smiled back. Momo chuckled softly. “I should get going. See you in a few days, Ryoma.”
Ryoma nodded in response as his upper classmate gave one last ruffled before he left. The boy was left alone to process what happened.
Before cramps could take over again, he laid back in his bed. Ryoma’s eyes drooped as he decided to take a nap, happy knowing his team wouldn’t date him for being trans.
He wasn’t ready to come out to the whole team, but it was a start.

Ok, I know a lot of people feel that this boy would be a kind, caring, and gentle boyfriend. While I do agree with that, I would like to add my two cents into this.
Yes, he’s the flawless boyfriend (or, well, at least he tries very hard to be one) and he will treasure you and strive to make you the happiest person on earth, BUT..... He would also be the biggest TEASE.
And by 'tease’ I’m talking about Fuji-Shuusuke-style of “I kind of want to see you cry or troubled because of me, fufu~”.
... Well, not exactly that far down the the sadistic meter, but it sure look like he likes seeing the person he likes gets all embarrassed. THE POINT IS, he. will. tease. you.
Plus, this is actually (kind of) canon, and before you throw shade at me, I HAVE PROOF

You would always call Sanada, but since he went into the U-17 camp, you couldn’t call as often
Usually you’d call while you’re doing your homework or when you were preparing your meals for the next day, it was nicer that way, you felt like he was there with you while you’re getting things done
You called him that night and asked how he was doing over there
“Well, lots of things happened, but tarundoru!”
He’d say his usual line which always made you chuckle at how ridiculous he’d sound sometimes, but you loved him for that
“But well, we seem to be getting a day off tomorrow, seems like some people are getting visits too,”
You were happy to hear that, you really were, but you made sure to reconfirm back with him to ensure that you heard him right
“I’m coming over tomorrow!’ your tone became a pitch higher “I’ll bring some lunch for us, maybe enough for your teammates too! Is there anything you’d wish to be included? I’ll make sure to pack em up nicely for you, Genichirou,” you beamed excitedly.
Sanada loved your cooking, and he missed it too, especially any meat dishes you did, they really just felt homey.
Sanada coughed, trying to not sound too happy but he really was looking forward to your visit
“Be careful on your way here tomorrow, try not to stay up too late. I gotta go now, pretty tired from practice today,” he paused “I um, l-love you, (y/n), hoping to see you tomorrow, good night,” he said before ending the call
“Genichirou wait- ah, there he goes again, ending the call without letting me say good night,” you’d sigh, but you smiled so widely cause he actually said he loves you, directly, that’s pretty rare!
You finished prepping the lunch boxes pretty late but well, it was worth it! You went to bed straight after
By the time you arrived at the U-17 camp the next day, it was already noon, just in time for lunch
Sanada made sure you updated him your whereabouts and all; it felt like he was your parent
‘Genichirou, I’m here already’ you texted him and got an immediate reply ‘Ok, be there in 5,’ and you thought it was 5 mins but he came there in 5 seconds
He was panting, and you could tell that if he took off his cap, his hair is disheveled
“Sorry, must’ve kept you waiting,” and you smiled to him, holding back a laugh “You literally came in 5 seconds Genichirou! I have to apologise for making you wait. Come, lets go now,”
You gave him a small peck on his cheek to which, he blushed, so he shifted his cap to hide it
You laid out the lunch boxes you prepped just enough (maybe) for the Rikkai boys. Honestly if you could, you would’ve probably brought much more, enough to feed the whole middle schoolers. But that requires more time and energy, and neither, did you have
“Good lord, senpai! This is so good!” Akaya beamed at you as he chowed down
“Guess our vice here is reaaaally lucky huh?” Niou said as he nudged Sanada, who, has been very quiet the whole time
The rest of the team laughed at Niou’s remark, they could’ve teased him more but well, they had to behave here (not that they did anyway)
“But I bet it’s not as good as what you guys have here— i mean look at those,” you said gesturing to the meals they served in camp
“The cookings here don’t feel like home as much as yours do, yknow,” Sanada spoke, making brief eye contact with you before focusing on finishing his food
That made his teammates coo at him btw and he turned really really red
“Tarundoru!” he’d say yet again, embarrassedly this time, it was well, very cute
You smiled happily, it was really enough to give you assurance about the food you brought. It felt warm inside seeing people enjoying it
“Thanks your the meal, (y/n)-chan,” everyone thanked you happily. They sounded really genuine about it too!
“Well now, I think its time for us to continue on with our practice? We shouldn’t let our performance die down just because we get some time off. Well now everyone, lets get moving; except for, well, Genichirou of course,” Yukimura said as he smiled softly at you and nodded his head to Sanada
“But- buchou!” Akaya couldn’t finish what he had to say before getting pushed by both Jackal and Marui as they left the cafe
You chuckled at how lovable they are, you really had the best time with them
Sanada softly grabbed your wrist so you’d turn facing him “Want me to show you around?” of course, you nodded and showed him a grin
You guys talked for such a long time, it was rlly nice; you didn’t even realised you finished touring the whole camp. By the time you did though, you grew tired. Sanada had to seat you on a bench nearby the courts
Eventually you drifted off, you were leaning against him, head on his shoulder and fingers intertwined with his. Sanada looked at you longingly and had a little smile on his face. He took off his cap and put it on your head so you’d get more shade
“Well, if it isn’t Genichirou, isn’t it a coincidence?” Yukimura. That was Yukimura’s voice. “I think I miscalculated a bit, I didn’t expect to see the both of you here at all,” and that was Renji
The 2/3 or the monsters from rikkai just smiled at him, knowing that he couldn’t do anything, atleast, not while you were asleep. Sanada just let out a soft groan of annoyance. Just the two of them isn’t that bad
Unluckily for him though, turns out that the whole team was there
“Pio,” Niou said as he snapped a pic on his phone; making a mental note to send it to you later on
Marui and Akaya. Boy were they getting on his nerves, but not enough, yet, to make him go shEEEEEHHH
That’s thanks to Yagyuu and Jackal for preventing them from going any further btw, it surely can’t get any worse
But Sanada was wrong. And he finally lost it
Tezuka Kunimitsu. He witnessed it
Tezuka didn’t do anything though, he just well, looked and looked away right after, as he was passing by
He really do be saying ‘I pretend I do not see but in reality I do’
“SHEEEEEEEHHHH” Sanada went, which of course woke you up
But you just groggily looked at him and fell asleep again, nuzzling closer to him
