If you don't mind my asking, how do you go about drawing fat? :3

JUST THE EXCUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR

So, for me personally, a lot of the time when I draw fat characters, I'm not looking to specifically capture the specifics of fat as much as the feel of fat. Bulkier, rounder shapes in the right places that has a feeling of weight to em! A lot of that is intuition and simplification at this point, but it all works on the same frame as just any ol' person. Like take this-

For example. This is the basis for any body shape, not just the more average one that it may imply. Sure- it can be that average body shape:

But also a fat one too!

And a big part of that is knowing where fat usually tends to bunch up on the body, so lets take a look piece by piece! (Please keep in mind this is very simplified, and not completely precise in some parts)

THE FACE: Cheeks (in purple) and especially the chin (in light blue) are the places where a lot of the fat is gonna wanna gather and round out on your face! Additionally, theres a small pocket of fat beneath the cranium on the backside of your head. It's small, but it is there. I believe fat can build up elsewhere like the bridge of your nose and forehead, but generally speaking, you're gonna have a whole lot more buildup in other places first.

THE TORSO: A lot of the fat built up on the torso is gonna be sent to your tummy. More cushioning for vital organs, mostly out of the way, it just makes sense. Additionally, the lower backs fat builds up and joins with a patch of fat on your sides that forms what is typically referred to as the love handles to make that double belly look. Along with this, the immediate next target for the torso is the breasts, followed by the upper back!

THE ARMS: For this limb, a VERY notable amount of the fat present builds up on the tricep and bicep areas, lessening once you get towards the flexor and extensor areas. You can almost think of the arm as a sort of triangular shape, wide side starting from the shoulder and tapering towards the hand, which itself mostly builds up fat around the back of the hand and the fingers. The shoulders themselves don't build up too much fat unless you got a lot

THE LEGS: And finally, you can think of the legs having pretty similar curves to what you're probably already used to thinking. The front of the thighs getting a big buildup, along with the back of the calves, the other parts being flatter in turn. As far as the feet go- similarly to the hands, the top of the feet, along with the heels get most of the buildup, as fat on your soles would impede mobility. The glute, hip and crotch area will also especially build up fat, lending to the same triangular shape that you can see in the arm!

A big thing to note with fat is that it tends to taper off towards joints. Your knees, elbows, shoulders, hips, and all the other places are gonna have significantly less fat so that you remain mobile and flexible, as that's important!

Now that we have an idea of where fat builds up on the body, you might have something that looks kinda like this

Which yes, does demonstrate a solid understanding of the places fat builds up, lacks the weight you're probably trying to convey, which brings us to out next point! Fat is well... heavy! Gravity is what gives fat much of it's shape, especially as you tread towards larger and larger bodies.

This is demonstrated really well on the arms especially-

Those big ol' bits of fat'll really start to sag when left hanging, and they will squish like hell if they run into something. I like to think of these bits of fat as big ol' ovals that squash and stretch depending on if there's an obstacle in their way or not

These are the important shapes to remember when it comes to the weightiness of fat! If you take all of this into mind, you should be getting something a lot closer to that shape you've been after!

Oh, and always remember that fat bodies come in all variety of shapes and sizes! Play around with a whole lot, and seek out all the resources you can! it'll really lend to your knowledge when it comes to this kinda stuff!

And as I always recommend when it comes to learning art- look at what your favorite artists do with fat bodies. See what you really like about the fat bodies they draw and try to replicate it in your own work, I promise you it's one of the most helpful things ever.

This is like the most basic of basics when it comes to drawing fat bodies though. If there's any additional thing about fat bodies, or maybe you want clarification on something, don't be afraid to ask! If there's enough to cover, I'll make an addition to this post!

A/n: Hey so I haven't written anything in over a year and this is my first criminal minds thing ever so any criticism is welcomed. This was written at 3am so any bad grammar or writing can be excused in my opinion lol. Please consider sending me some requests or ideas for anything on my request list, I'm desperate to get back to being active on here but I'm running low on ideas.

Summary: You and Spencer work at the BAU and after a lapse in Spencer's judgment you end up getting hurt.

Warnings: Murder, guns, shooting, stabbing, blood, hospitals, possible death, general criminal minds talk to gruesome murders

"There she is, we were starting to think you'd quit on us." Derek joked as me and Spencer walked into the briefing room hand in hand.

After a particularly long and emotional case I had decided to take some time to myself to recover from it.

It had only been a week but in this job that felt like years.

"Yep here I am, no need to worry. I know how much you all missed me." I said with a laugh while sitting down at the round table, Spencer going to grab our coffees.

"Can't argue with that, lover boy over there has been lost without you." Emily said with a laugh smiling at me.

Everyone else had taken their seats as Spencer sat next to me, sliding my coffee in front of me with an excited smile.

"Well as much as I wouldn't use the word lost I have missed having you around here." He blushed lightly, trying to speak in the least awkward manner as he could.

I knew he had missed me at work, everyday he came home to our apartment he'd be glued to my side explaining every detail of the case he'd just gotten back from, wanting to hear my opinions and spend time with me.

As much as hearing about work took away the point of taking time off from it watching Spencer ramble on passionately and excitedly to me was nice.

Plus if I'm being honest with myself I'd be bored without it.

"Six women have been found dead in a suburban town in Texas, all between the ages of twenty to thirty and have appeared within forty-eight hours of each other." Hotch explained whilst Penelope showed the pictures of the crime scenes behind him.

"All girls were found within sixteen hours of being deceased and had already been missing for more than a day, meaning he keeps them before murdering them. He has stabbed them all once in the abdomen, careful not to hit any vital organs so the body doesn't shut down. Instead he stabs them to leave them to slowly bleed out." Penelope added whilst handing folders of information out to everyone.

"So it's likely he already has another girl with him now?" Rossi asked with a frown as he flicked his folder open.

"More than likely yes, and with and increasing confidence and skill set we can only assume he's going to continue at a quicker or more brutal pace the longer he's able to." Spencer added, looking to the group with a smile that matched nothing that he just said.

I sighed and looked at the images in front of me, at least this case seemed fairly simple in comparison to some of what we've had to face.

"This guy is most likely a social younger man who holds enough respect and familiarity within the area for people to feel comfortable enough to get into his vehicle alone at night. He doesn't force his victims to comply they willingly trust him until it's too late due to his natural charm and charisma. Then he holds them for a day before killing and disposing of them. He doesn't hurt them in their time of captivity, meaning he most likely feels remorse or is unsure of his actions, but the thrill of the kill is to enticing for him to let them go. He's confident within his ability to kill, shown in the slow and precise manner he takes in the murder. He is most likely a local who has lived here his whole life due to his knowledge of the area and the trust everyone has toward him. He also appears confident in his ability to not be caught, since he dumps the bodies rather than hiding them. He believes he's more intelligent than most people and above the law, and his high IQ helps fuel this narcissistic ideal he has of himself. That is all thank you." Hotch walks away from the room of police officers who were noting down his profile, gesturing to Emily, Rossi and Derek to follow him into an interrogation room.

I jumped up from the table I was sat on and gathered my notes from next to me.

"I just don't understand how we could have such a sick individual in our community doing this to women. It's just shocking to me." Officer Davis said from beside me.

He was the head officer on the case and the chief of police in this town, he'd been assisting me and Spencer in the last few hours with trying to create an idea of where to begin looking.

"Yeah it always comes as a shock when a member of your community causes something like this." I offered him a small smile whilst gathering my stuff to head over to Spencer, Officer Davis following closely behind me.

"I just can't believe something like this could happen here."

"Can you think of any groups of people within the community that hold a lot of respect and trust? Like public speakers, church groups, large charity groups or public helpers?" I asked him flicking to the page of possible careers I had, smiling at Spencer as I settled my stuff next to him.

"Well apart from the obvious like the police and fire force, I couldn't think of anything. We're quite a religious area but none of our churches have any well known priests that everyone would know, we have too many churches and priests for people to form personal connections with. Although we do have a large neighbourhood watch group. They do nightly patrols in cars around the streets and main roads. They're a very large group of people."

Spencer's head shot up at the last bit. "Do they have a known leader people would know? Or any type of uniform they wear to be recognisable?" He asked Davis while scribbling something on his whiteboard.

"Not uniforms no. Although, the patrol cars they use do have these stick on lights they use to be recognisable. Pauls the leader, he tells people when their needed for patrol."

"So our unsub could be a patrol member, approaching women in his car so they know he's apart of the watch group and trust him enough to get into the car without any hesitation!" Spencer said turning to Davis "I need a list of names of the leaders of the group."

I opened my phone, calling Penelope "I'll get a list of the people on patrol the nights that these girls were taken, see if there's anyone that was working every night."

Less than a day, that's all we had to find this woman before it was too late.

I was stood in an office with Spencer and Rossi, bouncing ideas off of each other, hoping something stuck.

"Penelope got him." Derek said with a smile walking into the room.

"Paul Fredrick, thirty-five years old, lived here his whole life, was arrested ten years ago for an assault against an twenty-one year old woman, and in charge of the neighbourhood watch patrol schedule." Spencer read from the paper Derek just handed him.

"Hotch, Emily and that detective are already heading there. We need to go this girl probably hasn't got that long left." Derek said gesturing us out of the door quickly.

"He's confessed." Spencer said with a smile, kissing me on the head as he took a seat next to me.

I'd been sat in this empty office in the police station for an hour now, something just doesn't feel right.

"Really? Doesn't that seem strange to you? I mean according to the profile this guy is confident and intelligent. Surly he wouldn't confess after an hour of interrogation." I bit my lip lightly as I re-read my notes again and again.

"Well sometimes the profile isn't completely correct. Plus they found the girl in an abandoned warehouse a ten minute drive away from his house." Spencer shrugged "he isn't as confident as the profile indicates, he was also quite anxious and stressed when confronted which was surprising, but the evidence points to him and he's confessed. All of the logic adds up."

"I guess. I just don't feel right." I sigh and look up to him with a frown.

He matches my expression and stands up, kissing my forehead lightly before collecting his stuff. "You probably just need some rest it's been a long weekend. The plane leaves in an hour, I'll go collect our stuff for us."

He gave me one more smile before leaving the room. As I glanced after him I saw the rest of the station basically empty and the time was three in the morning.

With another sigh I gathered my stuff and headed out the door. Maybe ten minutes outside in the fresh air would chill me out.

"Everything alright?" A voice from behind me asked, making me jump.

"Davis hi you scared me." I said with a laugh, holding the door for him as we both walked outside. "Everything's okay yeah I'm just rethinking the case."

"What's bothering you about it?" He asked, lighting himself a cigarette.

"I don't know, the whole thing just seems off, I mean why would Fredrick confess so quickly? He doesn't match the profile at all, he's awkward and of a lower intelligence. I just don't see how he could do this alone. Plus why would he take these woman to an abandoned warehouse that could be accessed to the public or the police whenever rather than his own house? He lived alone in an remote area with no neighbours. It just doesn't add up." I shrugged and pulled my arms closer to me since the cold was nipping at my arms.

All of a sudden I felt a blunt pain hit the side of my head.

(Spencers pov)

"Everything alright kid?" Derek asks me with a concerned look.

"Yeah, I'm just worried about Y/n." I reply, fidgeting with my fingers as I talk "She's been questioning the case and I'm starting to think she might've been onto something."

"What do you mean?"

"Well didn't Fredrick seem odd to you? He had a low IQ and no charisma at all, even if you knew of him I doubt many people would willingly get into his car. Plus he transported the girls for no reason, he put himself at risk by doing it in that warehouse rather than his own home. There's no way he could've done this alone."

"What are you getting at here kid?"

"Well didn't he come across to you as more of a submissive personality?"

"You think we have two unsubs here? A team?"

I shook my head quickly calling Y/n as I spoke.

"No not a specifically a team. A dominant who lured the girls and killed them, and a submissive who picked the girls out, disposed of the bodies and took the fall. It would make sense, Fredrick was to easy to find, this unsub would be to intelligent to be this simple. Fredrick was on patrol the nights the girls were taken, he most likely saw them first and then alerted the other unsub of them so he could then take them."

"Well if this unsub was so intelligent how come it was so easy to find his partner?"

The phone rang out, that's strange Y/n always picks up.

"He wanted us to. He pointed us in that direction to throw us off, he didn't need Fredrick and he knew he would stay loyal if he was caught. He wanted us to catch Fredrick so we'd leave."

Derek's eyes went wide as he got his phone out of his phone to call someone.

"You know who told us about the neighbourhood watch and the list of likely suspects?"

Derek asked with a frown.

"Davis."

"Has anyone seen Y/n?" I asked as I walked into the room that the rest of the team were in.

They all looked at me with worried expressions as Emily handed me my bulletproof vest.

"According to the CCTV she was last seen leaving the station with Officer Davis" Hotch said clearing his throat, trying to remain stern and collected even though he was as distraught as the rest of the team.

"What?" my face fell as I scanned the room, everyone either looking away from me or straight at me with concern.

Derek's phone beeped and everyone's heads snapped up to look at him as he stood. "Pen's got an address, lets go."

"FBI!" Derek yelled as he kicked down the door, letting himself into the house as I followed behind, gun trained ahead of me.

"What am I looking for here Reid?" he asked, clearing the first room.

"A basement most likely." I said walking ahead, spotting a door that appeared to be heading downstairs.

I nodded my head toward it and Derek went ahead, opening it slowly and walking down.

I followed close behind him, a loud smash was heard from in front of us and before I could even see Derek shot, leaving Davis on the floor.

"He tried to run, threw something glass at me." Derek said, gesturing to the blood from the new cut on his arm.

"Can you see her anywhere?" I pushed in front of him as he flicked on the light switch.

I scanned the room before my eyes landed on her figure in the corner, laying on the floor looking pale and bleeding from somewhere. "Y/N!" I ran over there, putting my gun away as Derek called for a medic through the radio.

"Hey your going to be okay. I'm so sorry, I should've listened I'm so sorry. Y/n please. Come on open your eyes. Please..." I felt Derek's hand on my shoulder as I started to cry.

Before I could comprehend what was happening a group of medics came in and surrounded her, Derek pulling me out of the room.

I paced the hospital waiting room floor, it had been hours and we'd heard nothing.

Emily was asleep on two chairs. Hotch was sat looking at the floor, tapping his foot anxiously. Rossi had been standing up to speak to the receptionist every ten minuets, and Derek had be constantly picking up calls from Penelope who had kept ringing for updates despite Derek promising to call her as soon as we knew.

And I had basically paced a hole through the floor.

"Reid sit down and eat something. Stop punishing yourself." Hotch said with a frown.

I shook my head and continued pacing. "I can't, I should've listened to her, or stayed with her. I didn't even try first aid I just froze when I saw her..." I replied, voice cracking.

A doctor cleared his throat behind us "Y/n L/n?"

We all looked up at him with matching worried expressions.

I held my breath as we waited for him to say something.

"She was stabbed in the abdomen but luckily suffered no trauma to any organs. She's lost a lot of blood but she's going to be okay. She's just woken up so she's a bit out of it but she can take one visitor."

I felt my whole body relax as I took a breath.

"She's okay?" I asked again with a shaky breath.

Derek put his hand on my shoulder and nodded with a smile "She's going to be okay kid."

I let out a little sob and nodded my head with a small smile.

"Reid you should go see her, let her know we're all here." Hotch said patting my other shoulder.

I nodded at both of them and followed after the doctor, taking a seat next to her bed, holding her hand in mine as carefully as I could.

She opened her eyes, slowly turning her head to look at me.

Somehow she was still smiling as bright as ever, provoking my face to mirror hers on instinct.

"Hey you." she said with a small laugh.

"Hi." I kissed her knuckles, a few tears escaping my eyes as I looked at her.

"Why're you crying? I'm the one who's be stabbed dumbass." she joked with a small laugh, causing me to chuckle.

"I love you so much, don't you ever do this again. I really thought I'd lost you. I don't know what I would've done."

"I'll try my best to stay alive then, just for you Spence."

She smiled sweetly at me with another small laugh, I admired her face for a second before leaning in to kiss her lips softly.

Ozempic: Dying To Be Thin

I have recently been following a few stories and commentators as they have reported on the side effects of Ozempic. My typical literary niche is mental health, inspiration and motivation for self-development. While I don’t follow the latest trends in any area I had followed the Ozempic one for some reason.

I think the part that interested me the most was many of the people who interviewed were willing to buy the drug on the black market, unverified websites and the like. Don’t read what I’m not writing I think it’s important not to point fingers but to have a holistic view of the Ozempic side effects issue.

As I researched the stories I found most of the cases were in the United States and the UK. In the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, understanding the implications of medications is paramount. Most people are aware who follow Ozempic know it’s used for type 2 diabetes.

It gained prominence for weight loss in the last few years. I reviewed some history and current lawsuits due to the side effects. I was not aware that the side effects can affect vital organs and cause other unsettling concerns. Some may not be aware that drugs can be researched and more information can be reviewed on the FDA’s website.

Another thing that consumers can do is explore if there are current lawsuits or recalls on drugs before they start taking them. I know most people trust their health care professional but we should do our due diligence as well.

Ozempic, a member of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist class, plays a pivotal role in regulating blood sugar levels. However, like many pharmaceutical interventions, its therapeutic benefits are accompanied by a spectrum of potential side effects. These side effects vary in intensity and occurrence, impacting individuals in diverse ways.

I’m a therapist, not a physician or a nurse. I have treated many clients who struggle with weight loss or menopausal weight gain. Most of the clients I have served have found it difficult to lose weight as they have gotten older.

I have referred them to their primary care doctor. With that said some people want a quick fix for whatever reason and I can see the frustration and all the concerns that go with trying to lose weight and obtain wellness.

My concern with the latest trend of those on Ozempic is the side effects and the those that may not be informed enough on those who are dying as a result of using Ozempic or the generic form of it.

Commonly reported side effects of Ozempic encompass gastrointestinal disturbances, with nausea and diarrhea being prevalent among users. These effects are often transient, diminishing over time as the body adjusts to the medication. Concurrently, injection site reactions, another common occurrence, may manifest as redness, swelling, or itching.

While these side effects are generally considered mild, their prevalence underscores the importance of patient awareness and proactive management. As I listened to story after story most of the people had other chronic illnesses as well.

Beyond the scope of common side effects lie more serious complications that demand heightened attention. Instances of pancreatitis, though rare, have been associated with the use of Ozempic. Pancreatitis, characterized by inflammation of the pancreas, necessitates immediate medical intervention and underscores the need for vigilant monitoring during Ozempic therapy.

Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding the potential association between Ozempic and thyroid tumors. Though the risk is deemed low, healthcare practitioners and users alike must remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of regular health check-ups and communication between patients and their healthcare providers.

It is essential to recognize the symbiotic relationship between healthcare education and the communication of potential side effects. In the digital age, individuals often turn to search engines for health-related information.

I will say most of what I found were researchers on YouTube and science journals that are talking about the side effects of Ozempic a little more now. Thus, effective communication becomes a conduit for informed decision-making. Utilizing search engine optimization (SEO) strategies ensures that information about Ozempic’s side effects is readily accessible to those seeking it.

I’m a news buff and enjoy all things science and this story was disturbing because people were and are dying from one thing but the root cause was from taking Ozempic. I hope people will do their due diligence so not one more person has to die to be thin.

For those who may be interested in strategic keyword integration, such as “Ozempic side effects” or “Ozempic complications,” the dissemination of valuable information becomes more efficient and widespread.

At this point I can probably give advice on almost all of the game, to a pretty high degree of detail. If you have any specific questions, ask away!

The only areas I'm less sure on are the romances, since I'm not big on video game romances, and Vace, since he's both pretty unpleasant and difficult to befriend.

A big general tip is that some skills are worth vastly more than others, depending on what you want: (Guide to the best skills and equipment below, cut for length)

A good deck

Organizing 100 is the only way you can avoid adding cards to your deck (aside from save scumming to avoid events that give bad cards, which is incredibly unfun and can lock you into bad choices). The sooner you max out that skill, the better your deck is, so my first priority is getting Toughness 10 and then applying to deliver supplies until I've maxed out Organization. There are some nuances to this - you might want to boost other skills a bit if you're going for specific time-sensitive events - but not a lot.

Good exploration

Delivering supplies is also an early way to boost Perception - Perception 100 lets you free roam in exploration, picking and choosing whatever events you want instead of being blocked. That's also incredibly powerful and convenient. Mostly, you get Perception from the numerous exploration events that give +1. Since Heroic status gives you +1 to each physical stat increase, you can level Perception very fast if you can explore right after being a hero in Glow.

Good relationships

Creativity 100 lets you give gifts once per month instead of per season, tripling your chances to boost friendship that way. Since gifts are the main way of increasing friendship, Creativity 100 is vital if you want to max out multiple characters' friendship. It also prevents you from accidentally giving people presents in the same month as their birthday - birthday presents get double friendship, which is really helpful! Figure out what gifts are people's favourites, which are disliked, and when people's birthdays by trial and error, or you can use a guide.

Good Equipment

The right gear at the right time makes a huge difference - I save most of my money for buying the best gear, and the remainder for the Spa (a card-removal shop unlocked in Quarters at Empathy 33).

Engineering 66 gives you access to the two most busted gear in the game, the Vintage Focus Device and the Brain Trainer. The former lets a deck that's mostly mental easily win all challenges. The latter lets you access all sorts of skill checks more easily. Between those two, it's relatively easy to get all the favourable dialogue options and then win the checks for them.

Combat 33 doesn't give anything comparable - the Drone Rifle gives +50 combat, but there's very few combat checks and they're mostly pretty easy to qualify for. Creativity 33 gives you two useful items - the coat and the Emojiproji - but Marz sells you the former at a discount as a friendship event, and she lets you steal the latter as a Supply Depot event. (And you can't legitimately get multiple copies of any gear).

Animals allows you to get the Hopeye and Vriki from various events. The Vriki increases your skill boosts from winning, which is extremely good. The Hopeye reduces all stress increases, which is also very useful, especially when exploring, where you get numerous sources of stress in quick succession.

🦌: hi im back :-) gonna throw headcanons at ya

i love the hc of putty being terrified of needles and hospitals in general. he would force stephanie to come with him on appointments. man would have to be restrained to get a shot. id imagine he just hates the sterile environment and the equipment and just feeling violated.

he would absolutely despise being stuck in a hospital bed and feel so miserable, especially when he had a serious heart surgery. In the first couple of days he would have to be pushed in a wheelchair and feels like a senile old man. he doesn’t like people doing things for him when he can’t do anything to the point when stephanie would have to help him taking his socks off and on.

orel would visit him once in a while and even make him a card or give some kind of gift. steph and orel would help take care of their old man <33

Hey! Nice to see you! I saw your ask this morning and it gave me motivation to finish my cardiology research (which I posted before this!).

I got HCs and info done for Revs that I could do as a separate post but.. I'll do here lol.

Okay, so Revs is very much headcanoned to have heart issues due to his stress and shit diet. A lot of these details including how stress affects the heart and his IBS are discussed in other places. I think around 70s (say.. 72) I think his heart issues come to an all time hgh due to stress, depression, his shitty diet, and general old age weakened. I believe out of the range of heart disorders, he would have one similar most to a heart attack or have blockage issues in his arteries due to said shitty diet and also on and off smoking, both contributing heavy to it. His emotional stress wears him down to the point all his muscles weaken more and this all combines into a myocardia infarction (heart attack).

I would say it's a more survival able one, but he would start experiencing symptoms such as chest pains, shortness of breath, feeling dizzy when moving too fast, and indigestion/his IBS getting worse. He would have these symptoms daily, but not notice or take care of it, simply out of motivational energy issues and a slight fear of going to seek professional help as he is so insecure that reaching for any medical help terrifies him on a phobia level (also embarrassing for him) and like he deserved to suffer, that he will not receive any actual help, and others will see him as more pathetic. This builds up daily and he also does not bother listening or taking note of any arrhythmias as well.

It comes to the heart attack point where I think it'd be early morning on a non-church day and his pain would get so bad that he would call Stephanie for help. She then takes him to a hospital and he probs has a panic attack about it which makes everything WORSE. He goes in and is hooked up to an EKG after being pinned down where it is monitored that he is having a heart attack/the start of one. The doctors then talk to him and Steph a bit before he is told he needs surgery to clear out his arteries. He freaks out MORE, but Stephanie reassures him and he gets a coronary artery blockage removal/bypass (one performed by a cardiac surgeon). The surgery is 3-6 hours roughly.

Coronary artery surgery specifics: the surgeon cuts open the center of the chest and spreads open the rib cage to expose the heart. The heart is then temporarily stopped and the patient is kept alive through a heart-lung machine that acts as his heart and lungs without the action organs moving. The surgeon takes a section of a healthy blood vessel (either heart or leg) and attaches it around the blocked area to create a new pathway of blood flow.

His recovery time would be roughly about 4-5 months and he would be required to be monitored in the hospital for 2 days. Cardiac rehab would also be months long to get you functioning again. During the time in the hospital you will have hourly vitals and temperature checks. Also you might have a breathing tube for a while and there are recovery things you need to do too.

This includes not smoking, eating more healthy, and exercise. I think it's mostly the first two for Revs. Oh and stress management. But he's such a stubborn bastard that Stephanie or someone else is gonna have to force him to do things and chances are I think Revs is going to cry the second he's not as high from the drugs from surgery as he feels so stupid and worthless. There's also check up appointments every 3 weeks about, then yearly over time. Day one of bypass recovery you start drinking liquids again, then are encourage to sit up and cough to prevent lung infections. Day two is walking around at your own pace and solid foods. Discharge has schedules and meds established. 6 weeks after surgery you can start driving yourself again and doing other things including the sex (I am including this for fanfic purposes) and 12 weeks, you are mostly functional again. Mood swings are very common and depression can get worse, so support systems are needed (This is also for fanfic purposes). Revs would go through all stated above and not have any other problems until he reaches lates 80s and 90s where he might have another heart attack as he is stubborn and stressed, but it isn't as survivable. Haven't thought that far.

Summary: Erotic Medievalisms is about the liberatory potential of sexualities, particularly as they relate to medieval histories and modern pleasures. Each of the texts analyzed within subvert norms rooted in medieval cultures or assumptions about the "real" Middle Ages, constructing queer histories that blur the lines between fantasy and authenticity. These medievalisms extend eroticisms and erogenous zones beyond normative limits of pleasure. Moreover, situating these diverse iterations of desire within the medieval past emends narrowly-constructed histories that limit the erotic fantasies and experiences of marginalized people.

Since this book is nonfiction, my review will be organized a little differently than usual.

Full disclosure: The author is a personal friend of mine, and I provided initial feedback/comments on the introduction and conclusion of this book (though not the chapters). So my review will inherently contain some bias.

The main argument of this book is that non-normative sex acts in medieval-inspired pop culture allow for the radical inclusion of queer and BIPOC people in a cultural/historical narrative from which they are typically excluded. Pavlinich looks at four main pieces of medievalism: Santiago Garcia and David Rubin's Beowulf, Lil Nas X's "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)," Patience Agbabi's "The Kiss," and medieval-inspired aesthetics and devices in contemporary BDSM. Each chapter compares the contemporary work to a medieval counterpart and is supported by an extensive bibliography of critical theorists and literary scholarship.

Pavlinich's book is at its strongest when performing "close reading." I was extremely impressed by the insights Pavlinich offered when showing the reader little details about the text (or video or what have you) that I might have otherwise overlooked. Some of these reading are also incredibly clever; I would have never thought, for example, to make a linguistic comparison between the Old English com and the modern English cum, much less dissect how bodily fluids function the same way in the graphic novel as the dread of Grendel's arrival in the medieval poem.

That being said, I do think Pavlinich's voice gets buried under the secondary scholarship. Pavlinich cites a lot of sources, and while some of them are vital for making sure a point is convincing and well-founded, I almost get the impression that the author was counting on established scholarship to do much of the heavy lifting. At multiple points in the book, Pavlinich would make a good observation, but instead of exploring the implications further, he would back off and zoom out to show what other people have said about a similar topic. In general, I think I would have much rather liked to see Pavlinich keep the secondary sources contained and spend more time elevating his own voice. That way, the secondary sources wouldn't just be mapped onto the primary texts, but Pavlinich could show how each text "speaks back" to theory (in other words, Pavlinich's voice would be elevated by showing how his close readings may be explained by theory, but also how theory can be changed by his close readings).

I also think there are a couple areas of the book that could use more close reading to help sell a point. For example, in the chapter on "Montero," Pavlinich claims that the final act of the music video depicts Lil Nas X as a harrower of hell, a queer Black savior performing an imitatio christi. Personally, I don't think I was convinced with this argument because the chapter simply asserts it to be true and doesn't make a case using the visuals of the video. How is LNX a savior and not rejecting salvation (by becoming the king of hell himself - the archtempter), especially when salvation is predicated on whiteness and straightness (as Pavlinich establishes elsewhere in the chapter)? How do we know LNX isn't reveling in damnation? A few other spots in the book are like that, which surprised me because when Pavlinich does perform close reading, his insights are good. I just wish that strength had been deployed more often.

In short, this book is a good intro to interrogating the medievalism of pop culture artifacts that are understudied by institutional scholarship. While I do think Pavlinich can elevate his own voice further, I would love to see future work from him and see what other insights he can bring by applying queer theory to medievalism.

“The situation is quite scary. It’s dangerous actually,” Captain Chirag tells the BBC from on board his ship.

Along with his crew, he’s worried about the ongoing attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea area.

Since November, Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have repeatedly tried to board vessels or hit them with missiles.

Despite US and UK-led air strikes, they have vowed to continue attacking a vital route for global trade.

Captain Chirag, who didn’t want his full name or that of his vessel disclosed because of security concerns, says that on the day those air strikes happened his company told him to have an evacuation plan ready to get to a safe location. In the end it wasn’t needed.

Several ships have been hit by missiles in recent weeks, although no injuries have been reported.

The welfare organisation Mission to Seafarers says there are almost 1.9 million men and women working on ships around the world. Collectively they move 90% of the world’s goods across the oceans.

Speaking from his vessel in the Gulf of Aden, Captain Chirag explains the stress the attacks are causing.

“The safety of the crew, their life, it comes first and after that safety of the vessel and environment,” he says.

“You cannot be at mental peace always. You will be worried. So even my family – they are scared all the time and they were anxiously praying [for] the vessel [to] come out of this area safely.”

Crews on other ships that he has spoken to are also quite scared, he says.

The wellbeing of seafarers is “paramount”, according to Arsenio Dominguez, the secretary general of the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO), whose responsibilities include keeping international shipping safe and secure.

Mr Dominguez told the BBC that whilst there has been a lot of focus on the global economic consequences the attacks are causing, the seafarers are “unsung heroes”.

“It’s the seafarers that are out there day in day out, making all these things possible,” he said.

“We need to remember that they are actually victims, innocent victims, of this particular case and we have to remember that they are just as human as you and I.”

The first ship to be attacked was a car carrier, the Galaxy Leader. The vessel and its crew are still being held by Houthi rebels in Yemen and they have turned the vessel into a tourist attraction.

Mr Dominguez says “there’s a lot of diplomacy” going on behind the scenes to secure their release.

The wider crisis, he says, “is one of the biggest challenges that the IMO has faced” and the interruptions to global trade “will have a negative effect on you, on me and everyone on this planet”.

Financial services group Allianz has forecast that “if the crisis persists for several months” global inflation could be pushed up by half a percentage point to 5.1%, just as it appeared that the worst of recent price rises were over.

This increase would largely be driven by the rise in shipping rates, which are due to the extra costs the industry is facing as a result of avoiding the Red Sea by taking the longer, safer route around the south of Africa.

That could in turn reduce global economic growth, Allianz forecasts.

Extra costs include higher pay for crew, more fuel and the huge increase in “war risk” insurance that ships need to navigate the Red Sea region.

Insurance broker Marsh says rates have risen as much as 70-fold since early December. The premium to insure a $100m container ship has jumped from $10,000 to about $700,000.

“This is a significant development, given the strategic importance of the area as a key sea route for global trade and supply chains,” says Marcus Baker from Marsh.

A growing number of companies including Danone, Michelin and Ikea are facing delays in getting goods and raw materials where they want them.

But Vincent Clerc, the chief executive of Danish shipping giant Maersk told the BBC earlier this week: “We don’t really see another solution right now than to sail south of the Cape of Good Hope.

“We have ships that are being shot at. We have colleagues whose lives are at risk when this happens and we can simply not justify sailing through these dangerous zones.”

Captain Chirag says that long-term resilience could come through the use of remotely controlled ships which mean seafarers like himself face less risks, but he expects that is at least 50 years away.

For now he and his crew are content to take the long way round the south of Africa. “We just need the weather report and the charts for that area so that we can navigate safely.”

As the sales season for a product line becomes progressively shorter, producing a second batch of the best-selling items from the collection and restocking store shelves before the products lose their appeal to consumers becomes increasingly challenging.

The "agile" supply chain model The agile type of supply chain is useful for companies that manufacture products under unique specifications for each customer. This is typically seen in industries that are characterized by unpredictable demand. They use a "make to order" decoupling point, producing the item after receiving the customer's purchase order to avoid manufacturing products that have no certainty of future sales.

As a result, the main driver of competitiveness is agility—the ability to meet unpredictable demand, in quantities exceeding the customer's forecast and/or within a shorter lead time than agreed. The ability to be agile is proportional to the ratio between excess capacity and the average rate of asset usage. In strict terms, there can be no agility without excess capacity.

Organizations tend to want their supply chains to have simultaneous capabilities: efficient, fast, agile, custom-configured, and flexible, among others.
