The vast expanse of ocean is Cerrit’s only view for weeks. The skies darken, the waves crash, and the world descends into a cataclysm. Little rest, little food, little water.

None of it matters. Only the three faces in his memory matter now. Only the three faces that await him. Only that promise that keeps him aloft through exhaustion and burning muscles. Only the three voices that call to him through the Sending Stone clutched in his hand. They keep him going. They keep him fighting.

A brother and sister sit watching the sky. A mother stands guard, ensuring that her children are cared for during their vigil. Ensuring they eat and rest despite their stubbornness. Ensuring they remain in the city, hidden from outside dangers.

She has relayed their location. He will find them. This city cloaked by the Rifenmist will not hide itself from him.

It’s weeks since the sky became choked with ash, weeks since Maya and Kir last looked into their father’s eyes. He did well to mask the truth, his fear, with determination and a tight grasp on a sliver of hope. But his kids had his eyes too.

I love blue beetle and its message and I wish more people had watched it and I understand that the lack of promotion both because of the strikes and because the studios don't give a shit has affected it negatively and the role that racism/xenophobia play in people's disinterest towards the characters in general BUT PLEASE let's also not forget about superhero fatigue

#i keep seeing people complain about the marvels and blue beetle flopping like: we finally got representation and people aren't showing up #and honestly have they considered that these movies (although valuable stories) are being made in part as a last ditch attempt at relevancy #marvel didn't make the Black Widow movie when it thought it had something to lose which ironically would've been a better statement than #those post-mortem crumbs they tossed at us with it #black adam shang chi blue beetle eternals and whatever else... people forget these studios need audience more than the audience needs them #they're not doing it cause representation suddenly matters (and I don't mean creators and especially not poc I mean the suits)#they're doing it cause they have something to gain and nothing to lose that they're aren't losing already (attention/public interest)#and above all else: money #so sure it's upsetting that one of my favorite superheroes is not getting the love he deserves but look at the market baby #we're fucking tired and these crumbs don't help and the political climate is a mess #studios wave diversity on our faces and even preach some good messages but then they go and put their money where exactly?#hm.#blue beetle #marvel #dceu
