So I started watching a playthrough of Fontaine (my storage can't handle playing it😔) and Freminet honestly became one of my favorite characters like- he's so cute???

I really like Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet's relationship. And I saw your art with Cyno Tighnari and Collei, sort of comparing the two sibling groups

And it just had me thinking.

Freminet and Collei would be good friends

Maybe a little more then friends...?😶

I could imagine Lyney Lynette and Freminet visiting sumeru, and then pasting through Avidya forest and having Collei greet them. (Maybe Tighnari wanted her to get out of her comfort zone lol)

And Freminet sees and kind of experiences a "crush at first sight" of course Collei doesn't noticed this because like, why would in anyone have a crush on her? (One of my hc's is that Collei has anxiety and self depricates a lot) But Freminet pushes it aside, thinking it's nothing important.

But the siblings end of staying in Avidya forest, and Freminet and Collei start to spend more time together, further developing his feelings for Collei. And soon he realizes "Archons, I like her"

And I think Collei would just happy to have a friend her age for once. Completely unaware of Freminet's feelings.

I just think the ship would be really cute, especially considering they're still children and it'd just just be a super innocent romance.

Of course, of shipping them makes you uncomfortable, they would also be best friends :)

Because I feel like they could relate to each other's shy nature and anxiety

(I also like the idea that Collei is taller than Freminet)

I also think Freminet have a self low esteem... Since they have both low self-esteem, I can feel like an healthy relationship when they do therapy exercice to improve themself together. I don't know for Freminet since we don't know a lot about him I know that Collei wish to change for the best and I am sure she could relate on Freminet and feel comfortable around him. Collei received a lot of help from other like Amber Tighnari or even Sucrose in Windblum event (of course there is a more of people lol COLLEI IS SO LOVABLE I AM HAPPY FOR HER THAT SHE IS SUPPORTED), and if we consider that Freminet and Collei are both around the same age, she might be feel a bit more relaxed than talking to a grown-up ! And since they are both young, a typical innocent romance, a friends to lovers trope LIKE AWWWWWWWWWWWBWJW 🥺🥺🥺🥺💕💕💕💕 i am sure there might be some angst like misunderstanding (since they are both anxious and shy, sometime they don't have the gut to tell smth) but they are both well surronding and both mature for their age so they can overcome every problems with patient.

Ok, so, what if all the madrigal kids were put on the "golden child" pedestal? Even Mirabel (she can have a gift or no gift, it's your choice).

Isabela = The perfect girl who can create flowers. She's agile, sweet, and beautiful. If you had a bad day she can give you a few flowers to make you feel better. She can also help with birthdays, funerals, weddings, etc.

Dolores = The girl who can hear if anyone is in trouble or just someone to spill the tea with. She can also help if any person or child is going through abuse of some kind.

Luisa = Has the strength to protect anyone in the family and just help around with heavy things. She's also just as agile and almost never smudges her clothes when she's out doing chores.

Mirabel = ?

Camilo = the perfect gentleman and sweetheart of the family. Always willing to help mothers or parents have a break. Or just willing to make you laugh or smile.

Antonio = The second sweetest boy of the family. Always willing to give a hug or help around. Especially with his new gift, he can easily speak to the animals of Encanto for anything the villagers need. (And to tell the bee's Agustin isn't a threat)

(I'm already writing an au like this, but I just wanted to see what your version of the au would be like. In my version Mirabel got the gift of creating diamonds (jewelry), crystals, and pearls. You can choose if she gets a gift or not tho)

To be honest, I wouldn’t want to do an AU too similar to that of someone else’s, if that makes sense? It isn’t that I dislike the idea though.

Anyway, here are my thoughts on this:

Having all of them be the “golden child” at once kind of renders the trope pointless. If they are all perfect, they are all equal; so there wouldn’t really be a pedestal or favouritism. In addition, having so much may also make it quite messy.

But it is a very intriguing idea to play around with what each child would be like in the role.

Isabela is already the favourite in canon. I don’t have anything to add here.

Dolores is definitely an interesting case. Her gift is one of the ones usually regarded as a curse or associated with negative connotations. Which it isn’t, it is arguably one of the more helpful gifts. Combined with her passion and intelligence, she would make a very capable golden child and definitely achieve that ideal of a perfect, young lady that we see Abuela going for with Isabela in canon.

Luisa is one of the more likely to be a golden child for me. If Abuela valued more hard work than reputation, as Luisa could easily be argued as the one who does the most to benefit the community alongside her mother. At the same time, she is also this figure of bravery and protection, which easily adds to the possible idolisation of her character to the town.

Camilo is similar to Luisa. Given his optimistic spirit and the desire to bring smiles or laughter to all, he is definitely one of the more friendly and social members of the family - it is easy to imagine him being the favourite of the town because of how his work brings him so close to their lives. He’d fall into a similar trap to Isabela, hiding his more mischievous and chaotic nature, in favour of a more gentlemen persona to please Abuela.

Mirabel is not usually handled well in AUs where she’s swapped to be the favourite. She gets wildly out of character and just becomes another Señorita Perfecta Isabela or idolised for being more vulnerable (which… why? You’d have to have the same feelings to the entire town). Mirabel is the brains of her sisters (Luisa = brawn, Isabela = beauty). There is so much potential behind a mind or logic based gift and the subsequent pressures Mirabel might face as “the most intelligent girl in town”. And I will never get why nobody takes advantage of it.

Antonio is another one to see being an easy charmer. The youngest favouritism is rather common and how could you say anything bad about a sweet, little boy who can talk to animals? I haven’t seen anyone experiment with him as the favourite before, so it would be very exciting to see what someone comes up with.

Hello again, Ms. gender nerd anon here, re-sending my ask! Thanks for confirming it got lost!

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your stance on misogyny in BG3 fandom (those “shipping Astarion with women is conversion therapy” takes are wild).

Gender dynamics in your fics are also a breath of fresh air because of how full of default heterosexual sado-masochism* and female submission in general f/m Astarion fics are (nothing wrong with being submissive, but the tendency itself is not above criticism imo). I absolutely love Rosalie’s wit, intelligence, agency, initiative, insecurities and vulnerability, she’s such a deep and well-rounded character. She’s a badass but not in a stereotypical “strong woman” type way which just acts “masculine”, e.g. fights, is assertive and sure of herself, etc. I think you’re doing a great job at portraying more egalitarian f/m relationship and sexuality.

I also remember you saying something like (I’m paraphrasing here) the problem you see with “I can fix him” trope is heterosexism that often accompanies it.

Considering all this I wonder if gender dynamics and using a feminist lens is something you consciously think about when writing Rosalie/Astarion and if yes, how do you approach that?

hi anon, thank you for coming back with the long-awaited question (also there is no need to stress about the English used here, it's all very high level lmao so please don't apologise!)

I'm not interested in commenting/speaking ill on other fics or trends within Astarion fic so I'm only going to discuss this question in relation to my own writing. [Beyond once more reiterating that the popularity of m/m ships in fandom has its roots in racism and misogyny (a preference for white male characters above any female characters, especially those of colour when they are the canon interest), and the belief that 'gay' ships are inherently more virtuous has its roots in um. radfem ideology. and again, misogyny. Fair enough if you like what you like but please examine your biases and plz stop hating women and dressing it up as queer positivity.]

This ended up being very, very long, so it's under the cut lads! I did promise I could talk about gender in fiction all day long.

So first off, anon - people like what they like. There's nothing wrong with that - most of what I write, it's not done with any virtue signalling in mind, it's just that I'm writing what I like, as well. That is, I'm going to be honest, in large part my answer to your question.

In all honesty, I do not write my bg3 with an inherently feminist lens or mindset held in my brain at the time of drafting, beyond the fact that I'm a feminist in my own day-to-day life. If I was to attribute it to anything... I would actually be really basic, and just be frank: I really like women. I find women hot. I like a lot of female characters, more than I like male ones.

I'm really touched you think Rosalie is a well-rounded character, as she is intended to be written that way, but honestly? I just find her hot. I give her good lines and fun moments equal to Astarion's, bc she's v sexy to me. I like giving her hot things to do, and at a very basic level, it's for me, lmao. I made her well-rounded, bc I like her and I find her entire character aspirational and attractive. Fic is, often, just for pleasure. In the same way other people write what they find hot, I write what I find hot, and if you were to examine my fics and my bookmark history (Sophie/Howl is up there honestly, but Jareth/Sarah from Labyrinth is the biggest giveaway lmao) you would know that I just find this kind of dynamic.... where there's a villain and a heroine who breaks him.... or a woman who reads a man for filth... hot.

But if you want an answer that goes deeper and more theoretical, there are two things that I can give you!

I find it both reassuring and funny that you bring up both heterosexism and not making Rose 'masculine', bc Rosalie is consciously one of my most femme OCs. The pink/purple colour scheme is a dead giveaway. I think this was because, in Early Access, all of the femme companions are gnc in some way, which was fucking awesome, but that meant there was a gap in the market for my funky pink tiefling!

Most of the characters were also quite edgy - I've talked about the Early Access disapproval, and the way it felt like you were being bullied by the pixels inside your gaming PC, and how this informed my choice of OC. At the time, I was also playing in a D&D game full of edgelords, and was getting quite bored (mid-pandemic) with this entire belief that playing 'good', or being idealistic, is naive/dumb, or boring, or trite, or overdone. A lot of my writing is triggered by a spite reflex, so in Rose, I doubled down. I put a lot of tropes about femininity that get a lot of hate in fandom into Rosalie, bc these often overlap with the idea that being emotional or naïve is undesirable bc (you guessed it!) misogyny. It's better to be jaded and cynical, bc that's a traditionally masculine view of the world. This idea that being 'good' is stupid is fed by many things, but it is gendered, and making Rosalie a high femme woman was a conscious decision.

BUT in her character, I also had this secondary question - in a group where everyone is berating you for being kind, if you're a rabid people pleaser and traditionally feminine caregiver, why are you refusing to back down? How are we getting to the 'lawful' part of lawful good - which I interpret as having an inflexible moral code? And this was where I bought in the idea that someone is trying to make up for lost time, and created the device of her agoraphobia, and the tadpole as anxiety medication.

I think this is perhaps what makes her feel well-rounded, but also takes her from 'passively' feminine to 'actively' feminine - she's had all the traditional femme upbringing BUT she then has a tadpole hijacking all her AFAB socialisation, everything that's told her to not to take up space or back down or defer to other people.

I'm not going to lie, this is something I am struggling with at the moment: an awareness of being raised and socialised as a woman, and as an autistic woman who's masking practices are inherently tied up into the codes of femininity and the behaviour expected of her. I didn't realise this at the time of writing. But I guess Rosalie gets access to a confidence she didn't before, through a magic cure, and this is something that alters the dynamics of her character in a way that allows her to have a more active role. She doesn't feel the need to mask much anymore (see! this is why I find her HOT!!!)

The other gendered lens I will admit to bringing to the table with Rosalie, and consciously employing, is the traditional gendered dichotomy between emotion (femininity)/intellect (masculinity) that was held in the 1800s-1900s. This is because this theory used to fascinate me, I've read/studied a lot about the idea of gendered modes of reading books and understanding the world - for instance, there was a moral panic that's reflected in books like Northanger Abbey and Madame Bovary where it was feared women couldn't read literature properly, and that the lines between fiction and reality became blurred for them, because literature incites emotions and women are inherently more emotional beings. It was believed that they couldn't differentiate between the emotions fiction made them feel, and their real life. This persists till today, in a derogatory approach to female fandom, to immersed readers, and the media products that girls like (e.g. the Twilight books, and associated derision of its readership). In this dichotomy and belief system, women are overly emotional and thus stupid/idealistic, and the admirable way to be is critical, detached, intellectual - ie. everything the man making these rules thinks he is.

This DOES come into play with Rosalie, in a big way, but that's kind of BG3's fault. The whole idea of a mindflayer, is someone who is intellect without any emotion, and this makes them threatening, and powerful. I coupled that with a woman who sees her depression (and thus her emotion) as a weakness, and who is using illithid tadpoles as medication. I've talked a few time in asks, about how the bad ending for Rosalie would be her turning into the mindflayer for the good of the group, becoming that ideal of intellectual detachment that she thinks will be all everyone wants from her. It would be: The Bleeding Heart, versus The Exalted Mind. I sat on that decision screen, CRYING, for a really long time, bc I knew she would turn illithid in a heartbeat, for all the wrong reasons. To me, it felt like a new version of suicidal ideation had been given to my mess of a character. (Thank god for Astarion in this instance, honestly).

As a wizard, Rosalie is operating in that intellectual paradigm that critical thinking = good. Being cold and analytic = good. She is not that, until she has the tadpole: she never aspired to power, she feels in thrall to her own emotional state, she feels like her emotions make her weak and have actively disadvantaged her progress. So she is facing this battle between what she thinks she should be - intellectually confident, certain, calculated and cool - and what she thinks she is - emotionally messy, easily manipulated, sad and weak - without realising it's a fake mutually exclusive binary, and she can in fact be both. This is a journey I hope to take her on in An Honest Lie, and she's already undergone in Pieces (although, there's a bit more emotional repression in this timeline, if she was actually well-adjusted i think she would've fucked the Ascendent at least once lol).

What I did bring to the table was a extreme frustration at traditionally feminine-coded traits (moral idealism, goodness, empathy, over-emotional modes of being in the world) being constantly derided or treated as stupid. I also wanted to write a wizard who wasn't a pinnacle of intellect, but was struggling with that fact, and I made her high femme for a reason!

So... yeah! TLDR, I write women with personalities bc I like and am attracted to women - the same way a lot of male characters get attention or become the most fully fleshed, complex beings in existence, bc their writers like and are attracted to them. I do not write consciously feminist attacks on other people's dynamics, what I write is the dynamics I find incredibly sexy instead.

So I guess... my advice on how to approach things???

write what you find hot

give attention to the characters you find hot

if there are any dynamics you find interesting in theory, you can explore them!

I did make a conscious choice to subvert some tropes in Pieces, but this was mostly to avoid writing noncon bc it's not my thing, I didn't have any interesting in doing that to my OC, and also, i don't think I could write it well. So I guess the other thing you can do is, if there's a trope that frustrates you or you don't like the gendered politics of something, think of a new interesting way to write it or flip that dynamic (....like a Power Word Kill!)

Some Thoughts on Saiki K(Anime)

Watched Saiki K recently

Hopefully will look at the manga soon and watch the dub

I don’t necessarily ship Saiki with anyone but it’s definitely implied that he likes or has some type of interest in Teruhashi

Again I’ve only watch the anime so I could be wrong but I kinda wish Teru started showing a bit more of her true personality and then maybe I would like the ship more

Kinda already know Aiura probably wasn’t even a contender and just seemed plopped in kinda wish she had more screen time and was more of a rival to Teru

It’s a gag anime so I actually don’t mind the tropes for once maybe it’s because it not a serious story if that makes any sense? Don’t get me wrong Teru brother and absolute vile freak💀 maybe it’s because I don’t see him often

I hate pervert tropes but I enjoyed this anime again I think it’s because it’s a gag anime that’s why

My only lil gripe is how dark skin / black characters are shown as per usual (I’m aware that Aiura is tan and a gyaru, I am also talking about the one black character in the background, always a damn jump scare , sucks honestly)

I also think Aiura should of also came to the realization of what Saiki type is and be true to herself if she’s intended to also be his love interest

Even though it’s obvious he and Teru would be together in the end I still kinda wish for more for my girl

(Also don’t really get the Teru hate, I’m aware why but to some ends it seems a bit extreme imo, again I would like Teru x Saiki more if more of her true personality came out and didn’t always have to be so perfect at least around the gang)

(Also kinda want to head canon Aiura as blasian 🫣, again I’m aware it’s a gag manga but I kinda want a sub plot where she possibly struggles with the negativity surrounding gyaru culture and maybe darker skin. Idk I think it would be a good plot for her and Saiki to be a bit closer and a little more understanding between the two, I’m just spit balling here)

The discussion of how Black and darker skin characters are viewed and written in media is a topic for another day just wanted to share my thoughts

SPECULATIONS AND PERSONAL FEARS ABOUT THE LAST FOUR EPISODES OF LAST TWILIGHT UNDER THE CUT

sorry anon im gonna take this chance to vent a little about my worries ;;;;; there are no spoilers about the ending of the novel but there are SPOILERS about future content since im gonna reference some moments we’ve seen during filming and that have not happened yet. PLEASE DON’T READ THIS IF YOU DON’T WANNA WORRY ABOUT THE ENDING OF THE SHOW. i swear im gonna be back on being positive and manifesting the best possible ending after this, but i’ve been very anxious and i need to talk about it, so yeah, i really apologize for this

the thing is. im like 99.9999999% sure that the last scene of episode 9 is gonna be day going fully blind. jimmysea have talked multiple times about this episode being their favorite and the fact that the scene on the cover of the novel is extremely important, so im pretty sure mork is gonna take day on the top of the mountain and while they’re looking at the sun going down mork is gonna ask ‘have you done everything you want?’ to which day is gonna answer, like in the mock trailer, ‘one last picture left’. he’s gonna look at mork, kiss him, and then, when day opens his eyes again, he will no longer be able to see anything

and i am completely fine with this. is it gonna be sad? yes, because it’s still a huge loss, but we’ve seen day coming to terms with it and learning that he can still live a very fulfilling life, so we know he’s gonna be alright, especially with mork by his side. it’s the afterwards that im TERRIFIED about. and again, im sure mork and day are gonna have a happy ending, all those theories about mork or night dying and donating their corneas to day are (respectfully) completely unrealistic, they're never gonna happen, but it's the way that we're gonna get to that happy ending that scares me

like two things i think will have to happen in the last three episodes:

a reconciliation between day and night;

mork is gonna have to stop being day’s caretaker.

what we know is gonna happen thanks to the bts during the filming process is also that:

at some point there’s gonna be a hospital scene (it could also be a flashback, but im not sold on this theory);

there’s gonna be a time skip of 4 years and morkday are gonna be attending another wedding (most likely night and phorjai’s).

my main fear is not only that they’re gonna let day regain his sight, but also that they’re gonna separate mork and day for those 4 years just for the sake of drama. and i don’t like separations. i don’t like the episode 11 curse, i don’t like cheap manufactured angst, i don’t even like the ‘these characters have to be separated to find themselves before they can be together’ trope. the only show that did separation right was vice versa and i will die on this hill. when it comes to last twilight, i don’t really believe the theory of day’s mom firing mork and being the one to separate them, because i think that deep down all she wants is to see her child happy and if mork makes him happy then she’s gonna accept him. my nightmare scenario is that someone is gonna offer mork a job, mork is gonna refuse the offer so he can stay with day, day is gonna find out and think that 1) he’s holding mork back, and 2) mork thinks day can’t take care of himself just like everybody else, so he’s gonna break up with mork. timeskip. they reunite at night and phorjai’s wedding and they get back together

and i, unfortunately, would HATE this

and i swear im trying so hard to trust p’aof but i’ve already partaken in unprecedented unparalleled unmatched levels of winnery with vice versa and my brain is refusing to believe it could happen a second time so it’s preparing for the worse

so yeah not to be overdramatic but im on the verge ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

I have mixed feelings about the cheating situation. In one sense they’re teenagers and I think everyone in the situation had their reasons for doing things and reacting to the situation, but I really struggle with Jerome’s reaction to the reaction. He’s a kid and I don’t think he should be held accountable for shit he did at 17 for the rest of his life when it’s this minuscule of a problem, but there were multiple scenes where people made digs at him for playing two girls and he truly believed that it was alright. Yes he apologized I get that, but even towards the end of the season he makes a comment about how he didn’t mean to hurt them…I truly believe Jerome didn’t think he deserved repercussions for hurting Willow and Mara. I don’t like that. Do I think they went too far with the revenge plot? Yes. Cause I wish they would’ve sat down and talked. Mara and Jerome, imo, needed to have a long conversation about it. Not with Willow. Not with Joy. But just the two of them. Their relationship arc had been from s1. Jerome had that little crush on her that blossomed and it eventually led us to s3 and the cheating situation. Maybe it’s me not understanding how he cheated on her with Willow, who I adore, I’m just not understanding how those two had any sort of chemistry or connection, but I wanted him to explain his sudden drawback. Joy defending Jerome those times were valid but her in that damn bedroom saying she thought it was all about revenge. It’s like the entire house lacked brain cells that season. The miscommunication trope was wild. What i’m saying is I think the cheating trope was interesting to the development of the characters. I just really don’t think Jerome realized what he did was wrong. I love Jeroy. They’re my favorite ship of all time. I just can’t stand how Jara essentially ended and there was no sit down conversation being like “Hey, I hurt you. This isn’t about me liking Joy it’s about me breaking the heart of the girl who fell in love with me and who i pined after for two years” I just needed something. Those teenagers couldn’t talk.

see I do completely get what you're saying I do, and it's not that I disagree with you so much as that's just not really how things work. throughout the whole show, characters hurt each other and do shitty things because it's full of overwhelmingly human characters, but they can't just sit and talk it all out for hours in therapy speak until everyone is 100% okay. that's not how television works, that's not even really how life works. I don't honestly see how jerome and mara sitting and talking out every one of their issues would make either of them feel better and not more mad each other and it wouldn't be good television. hell, who in life ever sits down with their ex who cheated on them and discusses why and how and all of their personal feelings about it, especially two seventeen year olds who dated less than a year. I do understand that it feels like he should apologise further but the damage was already done, mara was too angry to hear it and jerome didn't know himself well enough to articulate why. I also just can't really name many shows where any (unmarried, childless, outside of a therapy environment) couples sit down and discuss in detail the end of their relationship.

I do disagree with you saying that he didn't think he deserved repercussions. he quite literally finds out that the three of them wrote a play specifically to embarrass him in front of the entire year group and accepts it and directs it anyway and says that he just hopes it helps mara move on and feel better. he does even repeatedly try to apologise to mara. he lets her say horrible things about his dad without fighting back and he backs off of joy around her as to not upset her further, all things he never would've done pre being caught cheating. he tells the house that they all need to get over it only when they're all being silent and glaring at him at the breakfast table because he still has to live there and he can't have every single person in house mad at him forever.

in terms of how he could have gotten with willow and his 'sudden drawback from mara', I really do not mean this to sound rude but like did you watch it? when he and willow first kiss in detention, mara had broken up with him like at least a week ago. he tried to win her back over and over (with admittedly hollow gestures I'm not like validating his behaviour just stating the facts of what happened) and she ignored him. by the time he kisses willow in detention, he thinks he fucked up too bad and he's never getting mara back, and so he's rebounding. he doesn't really have tons of chemistry with willow, that's kinda the point, she's just there and she's sweet and she's into him and it's a lot less complicated. it's only after all this that mara approaches him in the kitchen and is like 'congrats we're back together' and by that point he's already moved on from her enough that he's not willing to give up willow because he doesn't like either of them that much by that point. and this is not me defending him but like if he'd told mara then and there that he'd kissed willow even though she barely gave him a chance to, it still would've crushed her, because unlike him she didn't think they were done, she was just holding off because of the sisterhood. the whole situation isn't black and white, he didn't wake up and say "I'm gonna have two girlfriends" and it's a mess and that's the whole point of it. I've gone over the other jara stuff before so I'm not gonna repeat myself but idk, it didn't happen the way you're making it sound like.

and lastly, about joy saying "I thought it was all about revenge", the whole point of that scene is that both girls are lashing out each other because they're both broken hearted. it was the wrong thing to say, but it was an impossibly difficult and insane situation. and up until that point, mara didn't do a whole lot of crying and being sad because she got angry and stayed that way. the part about the revenge plotline that makes it so interesting to watch and why I liked it is because it was always going to hurt everyone involved and it was always going to be everyone's fault. jerome was getting hurt either way, joy was always going to fall for him, which was a betrayal to mara, but it was also an insane thing for mara to ask her to do in the first place. it blows up in everyone's faces badly, but both girls both eventually realise that it's okay that they're both upset and that it all only happened because of some incredibly poor decision making and that's that. the ending with mara deciding to put her friend's happiness above her anger is the most important lesson of all of it. also:

he does try to sincerely apologise for all of it one last time and she shakes her head with a smile and tells him that it's okay. the whole point of mara's arc is that she doesn't need that from him anymore, she's learning to deal with her feelings herself and know her own worth even when others don't, which is what she's been needing to learn to do the whole show.

tldr: I understand that cheating is a difficult topic that people have a lot of thoughts about and I respect that, but real life isn't therapy and what a lot of your takes tell me is that either you didn't really pay attention during their storyline or that it's been a long time since you watched it

It was dark out when you eventually left Kunhang’s apartment, the review guide completed, and your brain just a little fried from all that math. With your backpack slung over your shoulder, and keys in hand, you took off down the sidewalk for the short walk back to your own home.

“Y/N.” A voice suddenly saying your name from right beside you made you jump out of your skin.

“Oh, shit!” You exclaimed, clutching a hand to your chest. When you whipped around to see that it belonged to a familiar face, you took a deep breath before greeting him. “Uh, hi, Kun.”

He remained quiet.

You kept talking, adjusting your bag strap on your shoulder to calm yourself down, “Sorry about all that back in Kunhang and Yangyang’s apartment, by the way. I know it was stupid of me to drink something in a witch’s fridge that tasted off. That part was on me.”

“Are you walking home?” He questioned, focus rather intense on you.

“Yeah, my apartment isn’t far.” You gestured in the vague direction of it.

A deep frown etched itself into his features, “By yourself? It’s rather late.”

“I know! What if another vampire sneaks up on me?” You gasped teasingly.

“Will you let me walk you home? Please?”

Your eyebrows shot up in surprise. “Oh, uh, sure. Thanks.”

The two of you walked side by side in silence. You shifted your bookbag from one shoulder to the other when your muscles got tired.

“Is that heavy?” Kun asked.

“I mean, kind of? My laptop’s in there, and a couple notebooks; Kunhang and I were doing this review packet for a Calc test,” you explained.

“I can carry it for you.” He held a hand out expectantly.

“Oh, you really don’t have to.”

“I want to.”

“Uhm… okay.” You pulled the bag off your shoulder and handed it to him by the strap. Honestly, you wouldn’t be too terribly surprised if he ran off with it. Him robbing you seemed about as likely as him randomly offering to walk you home and carry your bag for you.

Kun effortlessly slipped the bookbag on. It looked out of place against his slacks and dress shirt/sweater combo, especially with your multiple cute character keychains that you had attached to the zipper.

He dutifully carried it all the way to your front door for you, where you gratefully took it back. You were very excited for tonight to be over. Between studying, the potion debacle, and now this incredibly awkward interaction, diving headfirst into your bed sounded like exactly what you needed.

“Thank you, Kun, I’m just going to—” You cut yourself off when you were finally able to see his face clearly in the security light outside your apartment door. His crimson irises were nearly gone, entirely swallowed by inky pupils, and he was pulling at his shirt almost as if he were fanning himself to cool down. “Oh my god, Kun, are you okay? Your pupils are… blown. I’d check your temperature, but I don’t think vampires can run a fever, can you?”

“I… I’m…” He didn’t even finish his sentence, biting down on his bottom lip, and holding up a finger in a gesture for you to wait a moment.

You didn’t know too much about vampires, nor whatever ailments they could possibly get afflicted with, but you did know somebody who probably would. Bringing your phone out from your pocket, you started flicking through your contacts list, “I feel like I should call Renjun. He’s a Magical Creatures Studies major. Uhm, he was able to figure out why Dejun stopped producing fire for a weird two weeks last year. He might be able to help. Here, let me—”

“No, I’m fine. I know what it is.”

“Oh. That’s good. What is it? Is there anything I can do?”

Kun straightened back up, hand going to smooth out the wrinkles in his sweater that he’d caused by pulling it at. “I believe Yangyang’s love potion was successful in a way he did not intend.”

“Kun, seriously, I don’t feel any—”

“I do.” He cut you off sternly, focusing his darkened eyes on yours.

“You…” You breathed out, eyes widening.

“I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable, I apologize.” He bowed his head. “I tried to control it as best as I could. But yes, I suddenly started experiencing extremely strong romantic feelings for you earlier tonight.”

“O-Oh.”

“I should go, I’ve seen you home safely.”

“Right, uhm, goodnight, Kun,” you nodded to him, too stunned to say much else.

You clenched your jaw not to make a noise of surprise when he picked up one of your hands with his much colder one. He bent over nearly ninety degrees to press a feather-light to the back of your hand. If you had a free hand, you would’ve pinched yourself to make sure you weren’t dreaming yourself into a rom-com right now.

“Goodnight, Y/N,” he gently let go of your hand before taking a step back from you.

After fumbling to unlock your door, you practically ran inside. Oh, you were going to kill Yangyang.

Whats your opinions on every drdt character?

Gonna be honest, can't tell if this is bait or a genuine question. I'll answer it as genuine anyway.

Teruko: Darling, beloved. One of the best written women I've seen in a while. Fandom either mischaracterizes her. Talks shit about her or there's the small pocket that includes me who worships the ground she walks on. Xander: Latched onto him first when watching through. Also sussed him out because he's not the first instance I've seen of that trope. Really adore him, not always the most confident when writing him. Even though Riza highly praises my depiction of him and the others when I write him. Charles: Used to really like him. Some fans have really soured my opinion of him and I'm working through that. Still like his writing especially background writing involving his brother. Ace: Hi. Full disclosure? He annoys me. I've also run into too many fans who worship him who have either harassed or stalked me so like. Yea you wont really see him much in my work. Some of his fans are cool though, like Cuckaracha! It's also pretty early in story so my mind Could Change but don't hold your breath. The only time I like him around is when he's in agony. Arei: She used to really grate on my nerves at first and just when she was starting to grow on me she ups and dies. Like okay girlie what ever I guess... Rose: Not much of an opinion on her, need to see more. Hu: Don't like her much at the moment, some of her fans have also soured my opinion of her so that really doesn't help. Would love to learn more about her to see if it changes my mind. Eden: I think about her friendships with Teruko, David, Levi and the others more than In actively talk about. She's pretty important to several of my AU narratives. I do like her, would just like to see more of her in general to form more of an opinion. Levi: I love this fuckin guy. I love his dynamic with the cast, specifically Teruko and Eden. I want Teruko to Apologize to him and mend their friendship. I think he's a swell dude and hope he lives a bit longer please.

Arturo: See, at first I didn't care much for him. I thought he was annoying, not Ace annoying but annoying for me to tune out when he talks. Then Riza went and did a Character analysis and we also learned about Felicity from Dev. So. You'll see analysis from me on him in the future, however I wont be posting much of it yet because I want to see more and have more material to work with.

Min: Not everyone is going to like the same character as you. I'll be honest, she is.... one of the most annoying tropes for me. I want to like her. I do think her writing for the most part is solid however up to her death I thought that it was... disappointing and I felt there could have been more or a better depiction. So I'm very neutral and dissatisfied by what's been shown. David: Do I... really... have to say anything here? Should be common knowledge by now I think- I don't exactly hide that I have fun picking his brain and putting him in countless situations and do so myself since I see most fan depictions of him so out of character that it moves my own hand to write. No but really, he's probably one of my top writing muses at the moment and really helped me through some writers block. I love analyzing him, and feel he has more to show us. And that several people overlook the true bones of his character and writing. Also my friend tried to get me into DRDT by showing sprites of his to me first but gave me the wrong material to try and hook me. Still ended up liking him on my own. Veronika: When I tell you that upon meeting her for the first time that the very first words out of my mouth were- and I quote- "Maam, your hand in marriage please- maam?" I mean it with every fiber that I adore her. I haven't shown her off too much in my writing yet even though she's important to several of my story narratives and I'll be honest it's because my thoughts flatline when it comes to women. Like. At least sometimes I can write about my favorite men but you put my favorite women in front of me and I'm a puddle. Enough said. J: Yall wont like what I have to say. I've gone to like, several people, specifically friends and mutuals to try and get their takes on J and I just. I struggle to see it? The appeal? But a lot of the times I tune her out because she's yelling. I do like her more than I used to but it's definitely a very neutral or uninterested opinion when it comes to her...

Whit: At first I couldn't understand his appeal but he's certainly grown on me. I wanna know more about him because currently he throws so many redirections in the back writing that it makes me incredibly sus of his whimsical ass. I'm interested.

Nico: Listen, I'm NB ok? Getting that out of the way. I used to be really fond of Nico. But dear god the mischaracterization and the things I see thrown about around Nico just made me so tired that now I'm kinda indifferent to them at best. I want to like them again so I'm trying to work with that but if people could like... maybe... check their transphobia, bigotry and fetishization? That would be Excellent actually. It's obviously not everyone but good god it is a loud pocket that blocking heavily doesn't even seem to silence....

MonoTV: I am going to bap this fucking thing into the sun. It gives me good laughs though

Mai: Oh girlie you definitely interest me. What are your secrets?

Diana: I know she ain't real but I'm gonna keep writing her with Mai and people can deal with it.

Felicity: Part of the reason Arturo even started to interest me but I wanna know more about her and their sibling dynamic.

Ellie: Interested more now and with his dynamic with Charles.

All other siblings: Curious but not enough to give them all their own bullet here. Mostly indifferent til we learn more info.

The Other cast: Currently Teach and White hair have my attention the most Purple hair and specs too. The rest I sorta shrug until we learn more.

what do you think of LHH being a writer, reader and a protagonist? ofc not in the grand scheme of the universe way, but he’s got all the three tropes down.

Writer - of ORV, we know that and also his debut work which gives me brain worms to think about. Even before he fully knew why he was in the world, he knew he was a liar. Casually lying about his past to get by. LHH ily.

Reader - he loves ORV like his readers, he loves the story, and *ahem* that insane reveal (I try not to think of it much lest it taint my perception of Hakhyun, he’s my bbg!!!)

Protagonist - he’s the MC of this story!! this story that was made for him, it’s his, yet he wants nothing to do with it. Man just wants to go home with his readers and honestly he’s so real for that. Such a breath of fresh air. He just doesn’t accept his fate like a lot of isekaid-against-their-will protags do. I’ll love him for that and dream of his happy ending, even though I feel like a selfish voyeur just by reading the side story (*insert the world continues by reading yadda yadda bs*) :,))

he's truly the guy of all time. adding on a lot of my thoughts

i love writer characters,, especially ones that get transmigrated into their own work (hi sqh), and he even gets to he the protagonist..! even if the story is not. treating him well

lies especially are such an important part to his character. the lies he wrote for jhw, the lies about his childhood, his lies to jung jaewoo, and all of his works (bar orv) having themes of lies,,

and. it's really clear he has issues with his identity made infinitely worse by ending up in orv and realizing that he isn't the 'real' author. transmigrating into cheon inho and using incite to copy others, even getting an item that can copy other items.. it makes the moments when he thinks of himself as 'lee hakhyun' so much more special

and oh. he's a character who loves so much. trying to save as many people as possible throughout the stations, even trying to save the monsters in the 'emergency defense' battle by convincing them to stop fighting. even the 'extras' that kdj didn't pay much attention to, he took care of them, gave them food and taught them how to hunt

directly challenging hsy's plan for 41!yjh's sake.. willing to sacrifice himself just so one more person could survive. WRITING HIS OWN DEATH TO PERSUADE HSY.

the 49!kdj pov was heartbreaking. but it was needed. i thought about it, and 49 only started breaking down after his first doubts of himself as 'kim dokja'.. was the reason he started deteriorating so quickly because he no longer believed kim dokja's stories were his? i don't think kdi anticipated this when he split himself,, i think he sincerely wanted his companions to be happy with a part of himself. when everyone was trying to figure out what went wrong with 49's body they said the amount of stories should have lasted him at least decades, and sys saying the stories that connected him to her felt unstable.. was this because 49 was subconsciously rejecting those stories? and then his final wish to be anyone but kim dokja. oh my god.

he got his wish, but the story found him again. while lhh was previously 49, he's now his OWN PERSON and referring to him as 49 is directly against what he wanted. please don't do that. even hsy realized and accepted it (..after lhh made her kill him.)

if i talk about his relationship with jhw i will combust. maybe another time.

After the Clown finished butchering Jason’s hair to his satisfaction, he exchanged the scissors for the bar of soap and the wet rag, which he worked into a sudsy lather. Then, as gently as a lover, he took Jason’s chin in hand and tilted his face up. Jason tried to keep his tearful eyes downcast, but the insistent pinch of his jaw between thumb and bony forefinger was all the warning he needed to obey. When their eyes met, Jason’s insides twisted into knots while Joker’s painted lips skinned back from his yellow teeth and he crowed: “There’s those beautiful baby blues!”

Joker’s shark-like grin never left his lips as he scrubbed away months of grime, blood, and old tears from Jason’s upturned face, paying special attention to the raw ‘J’ that still burned on his cheek. The branding iron might’ve scorched away those nerve endings, but the memory of that agony still blazed as hot as the moment that unforgiving metal sank into his flesh, leaving behind the permanent mark of ownership. The tears that always welled up at the thought of his disfigured face edged his pale blue eyes, clinging to his lower lashes. He tried to blink them away, to swallow down the lump in his throat, but the Clown still noticed, and his own green eyes glittered with sadistic glee.

“Oh, don’t be so glum, chum,” Joker soothed. “You’re gonna be the talk of the town when I’m through with you. Gotham’s newest sweetheart! You may even knock your billionaire ex-daddy off his princely pedestal.”

Again with the star talk. What the hell is he gonna do to me? Joker probably wanted to film himself putting a drill through Jason’s skull so he could upload it to YouTube for clown clout. He wouldn’t die of course. Oh no. The Clown would make him a vegetable. Or better yet, he’d survive like the dude who had the railroad spike—or was it a crowbar? Heh, fitting—driven through his brain. Maybe he’d end up with a new personality like that dude, but he’d definitely still be around for more torture.

He vaguely remembered telling Joker about Bruce and his wardship. That was the nail gun, I think. He flexed his gnarled fingers as the memory pieced itself back together like a jigsaw puzzle. He’d started singing his entire life’s history once the fingers and palm of his left hand were nailed to the desk and the Clown was starting on his right. At least I haven’t told him Bruce’s secret. Joker hadn’t asked though, and at this point he wasn’t sure if he could still keep that secret once the Clown started “encouraging” him to talk.

At first, when this hell was just beginning, he’d been proud. Proud that he hadn’t broken when the Clown used the drill and the blowtorch on him. Proud that, instead of crying or begging, he’d taunted and cursed the Clown between screams while his fingernails were ripped out one by one. Proud that he hadn’t failed Batman, that he hadn’t disgraced the mantle of Robin.

He’d been trained for this, of course; for a situation where he was held captive and tortured. There had even been torture simulations: electric shocks, waterboarding, force-feeding, solitary confinement, stress positions, sleep and sensory deprivation—all the shit they did at Guantanamo Bay—closely monitored by Bruce and Alfred. He remembered gloating to Dick about destroying his record, after holding out much longer than the first Robin had. Wonder how long the new kid lasted. He’d been taught to keep his captors talking, to play for time while he waited for Batman. The simulations had lasted for a month, not six-plus months. And Batman was always supposed to come rescue him at the end…

An insidious thought wormed its way into his brain and pierced his broken heart. If Dick Grayson was the one rotting in this pit, Bruce would’ve torn Gotham apart to find him. A tear slipped from his lashes and trickled down his soapy cheek. Grayson: the golden boy, the perfect Robin, the blueprint for all of Batman’s future partners. Grayson didn’t break bad guys’ collarbones. Grayson didn’t steal Bruce’s Lambo and get arrested for drunk driving. Grayson didn’t beat a rapist to a bloody pulp, then stand aside while the piece of shit staggered and fell off his own penthouse balcony. Grayson didn’t watch the scumbag splatter on the pavement below with a satisfied smile on his face. Bruce would’ve believed Dick when he said the man fell. But not Jason. Not the juvie he pulled off the street, the unwanted spawn of two degenerate tweakers. Not the stopgap solution until Bruce could find a Robin that measured up to the first. Not the loser who ran off to kill the Clown and got his dumbass captured instead. I’m sorry I wasn’t a better partner, a better son. I tried… I always tried…

Joker finished with his face, dabbing the remaining suds away with the hot pink loofah before tossing it aside, retrieving the rag, and lifting Jason’s left arm.

Then he started singing his stupid fucking song again.

“♫ Gray skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face… ♫”

Top five tropes that should be more popular

well. well!! okay i'm going to try to think about different tropes than my favorite tropes here to make it spicy and interesting!

5. Magic and I mean the Diana Wynne Jones kind. You keep most of the real world the same, but add just a little bit of magic in a very fun and light way. The backstage is rocked when Brian Cage is revealed to be part troll, which makes jim even more determined never to let anyone find out that he's part fae, even though it really does not give him any advantages, and in fact his only real inheritance is that he can't lie. which is fine, because he gets around it pretty well by just not saying stuff when he doesn't want to, but then there's talk of doing testing for Creatures, and well. he tells dustin.

4. daemons from HDM aus. dustin's daemon can be walter, easy. maybe jim's is somewhat small and he usually keeps her in his jacket pocket. dustin's only met her a few times even though they've lived together for a few years, and she's not that interested in socializing with walter. dustin doesn't mind so much, because that's just how jim is about some things. and then one day during a match, jim gets hurt, and his daemon leaps into dustin's arms in the next blink and hides herself in his chest.

3. Ensemble fic. I miss the art of being able to contain the full cast of characters in any one story. I love if you're reading a ship fic but you see fun cameos from other wrestlers wandering in and out of the plotline. it makes the backstage feel vibrant and so real. and maintaining the ensemble is ESPECIALLY good in an AU. if someone did a HangKenny Good Omens au, I would feel such joy in my heart if you managed to correctly sort the other wrestlers into various roles and let them contribute to the plot. I feel like i'm not being super clear about the joy of this because my brain is absolutely done broke, but it was something people used to do in bandom and it was SO fun. If you did a Mean Girls AU, it was SO fun to see how the author filled in all the OTHER background roles. tumblr user baking_soda do YOU know what I mean? do they be doing that in F1 very much? are people writing Mean Girl aus and taking the time to figure out who Kevin is? that's fun to me.

2. your self from another timeline comes to visit. this is SO hard and it's SO sexy to imagine. i'm literally obsessed with it all the time. i love thinking about like, baby!dustin at like what, 19? coming forward in time to 2022 and being like "we're FAMOUS? we're on TV?" and dustin's like "for an incredibly generous interpretation of famous and also not on tv that much." and all the things dustin hates about himself in life he can't help but hate to see in baby!dustin so he's not like...nice....to him. and he especially hates how obvious baby!dustin is about his giant crush on jim. jim just laughs and says "you're such a jerk. he's a good kid..."

Rich guy x normal guy is such a fun trope, I agree!! It's about the contrast... the differing life experiences... I just know Reo is enamored with the concept of instant noodles and similar things!! Gets a real kick out of them and reader is like "WHY." It would be really cute if reader and Reo went on dates to feed animals or to the aquarium or to the zoo actually!!! Reo is the sort of guy to be like "they look like you" and point to a cute rabbit and reader points to. like. an insect or some weird looking fish and goes "they look like you <3"

SHAKES YOUR HAND!! the Asian fight for the bill is so real. I do it all the time with my friends LOL. Reader might joke about how nice it is to have a rich boyfriend, but they also don't want to take advantage of him (or for him to believe they only like him for his cash). I know Reo and reader are scaring everyone else in the restaurant when they argue over the bill.... they have the crazy auras as well as the eyes and start saying things like "your failure against me was decided when you were born" and when they finally agree to split the check, they go back to being cute and in love and it gives everyone whiplash....

Reo is just built different!! I just think he has few people he can genuinely cherish, so he clings very tightly to the ones he can! 100% would give reader the moon if they asked for it!! Nothing is off limits!! His ego is just to spoil his partner fr.... I just think he likes taking care of others (to the point where he will make a ten year plan of your life together) because it's the only way he's been taught how affection works. btw, if you ever end up drawing them, I'd love to see!!! I'm sure you'd draw them super cute <3

you mentioned how many of Armand's traits have been given to Louis, but I think when I really started to give up on getting even a loose book interpretation of Armand was when I saw the first Claudia trailer. Cause if you already have one character stuck in perpetual teenagerhood, are you that motivated to introduce a 2nd one? I mean, I personally would, because I think it'd be that much funnier to see two teenagers plotting against each other in S2, but my fear is these writers will just figure they've got teen angst and identity covered, and all they need Armand for is to pop up and be a non-threatening love interest while Lestat is otherwise engaged.

I'm still not sold on the Rashid theories, mostly because no matter how ooc one gets, I'm not sure I can believe they'd position Armand as totally subservient to Louis. And I LIKE Rashid. But as Armand? No, please no.

So like. I’ve been really cautious about talking about Claudia because I’m like, mega skeptical about this character change and I don’t like it 😊

As much as I’m willing to give AMC!Claudia a chance as an individual OC, I’ve gotten some red flags about the way the team has talked about women & girls and I’m just. Like. How are you going to remove the main feminist drive of the story to replace it with potentially sexist tropes about teenage girls?

I wrote about this a while back so I won’t go deep on this right now, but I think it’s really suspicious that RJ & them don’t think aging L&L up to their 30s matters when like, they’re saying being 14 somehow is an existential crisis. Does age matter or does it not? Why do they keep commenting on girls’ hormones? Do these vampires even HAVE hormones?! Bro she’s dead lol. I mean I guess they have sex now so whatever it’s a whole new world.

But like the thing about VC characters is that their age has more to do with their relationship to humanity imo; we’ve talked in circles about whether or not the Blood fixes your brain where it is and I think that’s a really cool conversation to have but there’s not a definitive answer bc Anne wasn’t writing with it in mind. Their life experiences are more significant than their brains.

Like, Armand has never been a teen angst figure. Even when I first read them as a teen I wasn’t like OMG HE’S LIKE ME. VC isn’t a coming of age story and isn’t YA. Armand is 500 years old lmfao and his mortal age is a stigma to always remind us what happened to him. His visual age creates a set of external factors related to the way people treat him, and same with Book!Claudia. Claudia was not a child, either, and the tragedy of her story (aside from the internal body horror) is that people will treat her like a child forever.

So having AMC!Claudia as a teenage girl can still feature this same topic; the horror of her story has potential to tap into those same themes, even if they’re very different. There’s a difference in that she CAN be independent even if her journey getting there is different. This tragedy is less internal than the book, less dramatically anyway; I think the horror here will be more external. People are still probably going to talk down to her and treat her poorly and not allow her agency in certain situations. In a universe where she can have & wants to have sex, she’s always going to have to navigate potential child predators. But she isn’t locked to an adult the way Book!Claudia is. And I think this has a lot of potential and like, even accepting the change as a logistical workaround for shooting, I think care has to be taken to tell that rich story, and I’d like to see it. I would hate for us to swap out Claudia’s story for vampire soap opera teen girl tropes, especially knowing how personal the character was to Anne and how it started the entire series.

So having said that, like. There’s two ways to look at this:

If Armand is still a teen, after watching Episode 4 I really worry about the petty changes they’d make to him if there’s like TEENAGER LORE in this universe. Armand isn’t Like That because he’s a dumb teenager, he’s Like That because he’s been repeatedly traumatized for centuries. Even as a mortal he wasn’t a typical teenager. WHAT DID MARIUS CALL HIM, A WIZENED FUNERAL SPIRIT OR SOMETHING LMAO. And like if the show posits that Teenage Girl = Whiny Boy Crazy Annoying Drama Queen, like, what is the trope they’ll lean into for Teenage Boy? How does this lore about being hormonal fit into the way they’ll portray him?

And like, WHILE YOU’RE RIGHT THAT NOW WE ALREADY HAVE A TEEN CHARACTER it makes me wonder if Armand’s role would change and how this could change the way he antagonizes Claudia. COULD THEY EVEN BE A COUPLE????? Imagine she leaves with Armand instead of Madeleine?

Cause I’m thinking like, if they stuck to the main Paris story, this Claudia doesn’t really have a NEED for Madeleine at all, does she? They’re setting her up that she’s interested in romance so I think it might be that she wants a romantic partner. (Of course Madeleine might have been romantic too once she turned but meaning that it was framed as a parental figure because Claudia was always going to need a visible adult.)

But if the show isn’t afraid of talking about teenage sexuality, he could still show up as a love interest. Like the shallowest read of TVA would tell us that he’s like Ricean Sex Addict Teen and I wonder in the hands of this team if that translates to him being hypersexual in trying to seduce Louis. We sure rushed through to Claudia’s 18th birthday, so! Lol Maybe they’re not afraid to go there. (Also how old were Louis and Jonah??????????????????????????????????????????? Louis might not mind lol.)

But you’re also right that if there’s only room for one teen, and Armand ISN’T a teen, like. It’s just not the same, yall!!!!!!!!!! It’s just not the same character. And even seeing the way age is handled/discussed in this universe (plus the way they’ve handled Daniel & Night Island) just screams to me that they don’t care about Armand the way I do LMAO. To each his own, man, but it’s like. As a VC fan, like, when you strip so much of what I enjoy about VC from an adaptation, what’s left?

because. ninjago do be making my brain go !! and i need to yell abt it to myself to my blog void b4 i go onto dragons rising and stuff. i talked abt this on discord but only 2 ppl following me are in that server so wtv (hi btw X3)

i want to preface this by saying i dont interact with the ninjago fandom at all, and i know near nothing about behind-the-scenes things or stuff said by production. this is all my thoughts babeyy (which means im going to sound absolutely clueless and talk abt things that hav probably already been resolved. wtv) none of this is supposed to be critical thinking LOL pls dont attack me. i sound complainey but i dont hate the show, this is how i show love for media <3

really the most pressing thing to me was. being really frustrated about garmadon’s whole arc at the end of tournament of elements. yknow when misako finds out about the letter. i feel like they didn’t really go into depth about RESOLVING that whole thing, like showing the repercussions and thoughts of all parties involved after the fact? how does this affect their family? i suppose misako and lloyd talked about it during day of the departed, kind of? but. my needy ass just goes “IT WASN’T ENOUGH.” really, i don’t really like character death or sacrifice as the resolution to a conflict or arc unless it’s done really well, and. is this supposed to feel unsatisfying?! because it is to me!!

yes. i know it’s a kids show. its super likely something's going over my head right now, but. it really made me think again because misako and garmadon didn’t really even talk after harumi revived his oni side, and especially after all the interactions lloyd and garmadon had during crystallized. seriously, someone rec me fics that explore misako and garmadon talking post tournament of elements please JDKWNFJSND. and really i didn’t hate the resolution of tournament of elements... this is my single major nitpick about it LOL

continuing with that thought, like. lloyd has lost his dad multiple times... this isn’t fair to him!!! give bro a break!!! (silly) (i know its fiction LOL) honestly why doesn’t he have WORSE trust issues after considering his mom and harumi and all the other people who’ve abandoned slash betrayed him?! and yeah misako really is the least terrible offender here, and i’m not blaming her— but ya can’t ignore that it DID affect him. this is why i was really excited for the prospect of a corruption arc for him during crystallized, however brief. he deserves it! let him destroy a few buildings, maybe kill a guy! let him fulfill his rise of the serpentine dreams, but for real this time! again REC ME FICS RAGHH

...though yes. i know he’s developed really far to the point he’d never hurt people like that, and tbh you could say he was never really evil in the first place but. you gotta understand that the corruption arc is one of my FAVORITE tropes. i’ll do anything for em... it’s my fatal flaw...

heck like. this is why i was really excited for the ice emperor because i KNEW that was zane the moment i saw him LMAO. he’s my favorite character how can i not tell. but in the end he just lost his memories and was being manipulated by some other bad guy... same thing goes for possession, lloyd wasn’t the bad guy, it was morro possessing him... its not the same </3 let them be lead astray even WITH their past memories and relationships and feelings... i need the angst... (you can tell im insane because im saying this about a lego show)

anyways point is. i like corruption arcs. and i WILL write fic about the ice emperor gaining more agency no matter how out of character and detached from the original message it is. (even sillier connotation)

okay thats the end of me nitpicking for now, i think. i mean i have a lot of qualms... esp about wu characterization in the new animation studio half, but. thats one thing i know that has been talked abt AT LENGTH. and idk if this is an unpopular opinion but i liked all da seasons for different reasons, they all appeal to my different happy little facets of media i enjoy :) im still fresh off of watching the show again for the first time in forever so this opinion will probably change, who knows.

really im just happy to have gone thru the whole main series! including wu's teas! not including dragons rising tho. ill get around to that after this. and maybe look into more production and behind the scenes stuff, and the games and supplementary content too. i love consuming content 🥰

anyway... uhm. can you tell zane is my favorite. because i said it explicitly some sentences ago. god he is so. ykwhat heres a screenshot bc i dont want to write this all out again
