I want to talk about Gus in for the future. I know it seems like it was a breakthrough episode mainly for Luz and Willow, considering what happened to Willow and Luz finally figuring out what she wanted. A breakthrough for Winter being canon now. But I really want to talk about Gus here and his breakthrough in here. While it was small and not so noticeable I think he had his too.
I think the Emerald Trio had their episode here
I’m the beginning we see Gus trying to comfort Willow with his illusions. While with Willow you can see the glassy ready look in her eyes, Gus has this tired look to his.
I think he realizes that she’s in a hard place right now. After all, he knows how much Hunter means to Willow probably more than any of them including Willow herself.(she’s been suppressing her emotions for the last few months) He’s been friends with her longer than any of them (Her and Amity weren’t friends for years so I’m not counting her right here) she knows she’s probably going to suppress her feelings to help others. He’s probably tried before to get her to open up and she wouldn’t listen because “I’m the reliable one, remember”.
So I’m sure he knew she was hurting already, he had to suppress his feelings too. Sure he was very open about him missing his dad and not afraid to cry because he was comfortable. Shoot maybe he lets himself be vulnerable with her to show that it’s ok to be vulnerable with him too. They’re best friends! But he isn’t going to push her. He knows her strength. She’s been holding it in for years so he’s never seen her the way that they did in the end of FtF. Me as an empathetic person myself, I hurt when I know someone else is, especially when they’re trying to pretend it’s alright. But he also knows she hates when people meddle in her affairs, so he was giving distance.
Skipping forward, when Willow goes off by herself in anger, he feels like it’s his fault. The fact that he knew something and was trying to do the right thing but failed in hurting them instead. (Which is not true but you know how Gus is). He tried to go and fix it and somehow ends up in a pit. And you see how terrified he is at first. Don’t tell me he ain’t struggling with PTSD either. He witnessed first hand the darkness and evil of Belos and his mind. Someone he looked up to as a ruler for the longest time in his life. Got thrown into another realm, which yes was awesome cuz he got to learn and see what he wanted too!…. But not by his own choice.
And then he witnesses Willow in the state she is in. And oh just because we didn’t see it, you can’t tell me he wasn’t heartbroken too.
He just didn’t have a way he knew how to help without thinking he was going to make it worse too.
Which is why I think it was such and Emerald trio moment too. Gus needed a window. He needed someone else to help where he felt he couldn’t. And finally he could tell Willow what he had been wanting to forever now.
And just look how happy he is now.
She’s feeling better.
He finally could get the fact that he knew Hunter was a grimwalker off his chest.
Shoot Hunter and Willow holding hands now, Titan he didn’t think he’d get this far!
That’s a load off his chest.
While it was not very noticeable, I think we got a breakthrough in his arch too.
Willow and Gus and Hunter are a team. They’re there for each other. They’re like siblings! (Er not Hunter to Willow or Willow to Hunter) but Gus ties the knot!

They started shooting fireballs and amity came down
" they'll keep her busy let get to get to the skull! " She said taking Light's hand and running, we going after them

She looked into your eyes with adoration in her eyes hunter did the same
" oh! I almost forgot! I found a picture of you and him on the floor, it must have fallen when you were walking " She said giving the picture you looked at the picture first and you heard her talking
" we know you don't talk about him much in front of us but we can feel that you miss him a lot " Hunter said letting Willow continue
" we also know we can never replace him but if you need anything i hope we can help like he did " Willow said wiping the tears from your eyes
" t-thank you guys, thank you alot " You took a breath and looked again at the picture " This was the only photo I managed to capture our friendship the rest is just written and drawn " You said putting the photo in your bag next to the book " You guys really did a lot for me these months, I'm glad I'm your partner, one of my best happiness in life now " You said that with excitement in your eyes, and they also have a few tears in their eyes from you saying that.
Amity called willow she had to go but first she gave you both a kiss and went to amity
Leaving hunter with the opportunity to ask what he wanted
" Now are you going to say what you wanted to ask? " He asked looking into your eyes
" Well I don't know if you need it now, after all you already have the Flapjack magic now " you said
" But what was it, maybe I can still answer! " He said taking your right hand
" ok, Well me and my palisman had an argument at the owl's house, you don't have a pasliman so i was thinking, why not give his old pasliman to you? One thing you all have in common, you lost important people in difficult times. " You said that going to get him from your bag, he woke up seeing hunter, hunter looks at him and says
" He's similar to Flapjack and I'm sure he likes a lot of cuddles too hehe " He said seeing pasliman caressing his cheek
" Yea he looks like he likes you what do you think? " You asked, hunter was thinking and said
" yea, I stay with him, he seems to like me a lot and he seems to be powerful, thanks y/n " Hunter said giving you a hug that took a few moments to let go, Those moments seemed happy, too happy
Little did they know that the collector was planning on them.

ok I need to expand upon this 'everyone except huntlow themselves knows their dating' thing because that's literally my fav trope EVER
I can just imagine that after everything is safe and they've defeated Belos and the Collector is put away that the two become even more close than they already are. And listen. I'm all for stuttering, blushy Hunter (let the poor boy have an awkward teenage crush) but I'm also so for the idea that while that never fully goes away he also has tons of moments with Willow where the two are as comfortable and banter like they are each other's bestest friends. Like they text when they don't see each other ALL THE TIME now, and Hunter has been put into enough situations with Willow alone both out choice and because he's best friends with a group of romantic shippers, that he's not as much of a mess around her, and gets confident in flirting back.
Here's the catch.
After one particular flirting session between the two, ending with them bumping each other with their elbows and then holding hands like it's just a thing they've always done, their other friends are like "yup that's it. they got together, finally. THANK TITAN."
And of course Luz brings it up casually while everyone's hanging out one day.
Hunter mentions going somewhere with Willow the next day, and he asks if the others want to come along, Willow nodding in agreement.
Luz shakes her head, "Noooo I won't interupt your date with each other. I'm starting to learn what you guys felt like with Amity and I."
Gus snorts, "Yeah how do you think I feel? I have to experience it twice."
Luz pats his shoulder in sympathy and by this point Hunter and Willow have both gone bright red.
"A date?! I mean like, yeah, between friends cuz that's what we are, uh, yeah, like good friends you know-" Hunter sputters.
The poor boy just gets more red, and Luz is just. so confused.
"You've been dating for...Oh My Titan. You guys have to be pulling my leg right now."
"I'm not even touching your leg Luz!"
"It's a figure of- Oh nevermind" Luz runs her hands down her face. "I just, I have a question then."
Gus and Amity at this point are seconds away from falling over laughing because seriously HOW could this be happening.
"Are you guys like, together?"
Hunter sputters and Willow finally speaks to save the poor dude from suffering, "No? I mean- Not that I wouldn't- nevermind- just, where did you get that impression?"
Okay so she might've saved Hunter from embarrassment but definitely not herself. Luz just gives her a look like 'be fucking fr' and gestures to the both of them like, "Look at you guys" because of course the two of them are sitting as close as possible, legs tangled with each other and literally 30 minutes ago Hunter's head was in her lap and she was braiding flowers into his hair.
And of course the two of them are like *shrug* "We're just really close friends haha" and Luz has to contain her screams of frustration because CMON. SHE THOUGHT THE PINING WAS OVER. (slowburns are no fun in real life apparently).
Anyway after all that it takes another two weeks for the two of them to go "Wait fuck. We are basically dating aren't we." and both of them go to ask each other out and then just for fun they fuck with the others and pretend like they're still in denial. Because huntlow are girlbosses. (They tell the rest of the gang after about 30 mins. Luz almost got up and left at the continued denial and they both felt a little bad.)

When luz is holding the portal together her friends and girlfriend make it to the human realm but she doesn’t

Luz is also stuck with the collector and the others are trapped on the other side with no idea how the human world works
cue four kids on the verge of a breakdown running around in Gravesfield with only Amity and Gus as their guides. Amity because Luz told her some things abt the human realm, Gus because he's the resident Human Expert. It goes...poorly.
Hunter insists on taking the lead because he's ~experienced~ with living life on the run and surviving off scraps until Willow shoots that down bc my guy spent ONE night in the woods and then immediately hid out in Hexside and stole all their snacks. They all end up camping out in the park for a bit while Amity tries to find Luz's mom based off of a picture she saw on occasion.
Vee's the one who ends up finding them, more specifically finding Gus, who was watching her and her friends from afar bc he's trying to understand how The Humans interact in life so he could teach his friends and everyone would stop giving them weird looks. Vee at some point goes over cause she thinks he's a lonely kid who wants to join their card game. Course, she looks. exactly like Luz. so as soon as she gets close enough for Gus to make out her features he just BOMB RUSHES her like "LUZ! OH YOU'RE OKAY THANK GOODNESS" and Vee just Barely manages to dodge him.
she realizes pretty quickly that this is one of Luz's friends and if he's one of Luz's friends, then they found a portal back! so she grabs the kid n drags him aside like "ok sorry for the confusion but I'm Vee, not Luz. basilisk" and Gus has a brief moment of panic, but honestly, of everything he's been through, this is like. nothing.
so Vee obv asks where Luz is and Gus is just...silent. like the happy exterior just Plummets and Vee is already mentally chalking up how to explain to Camila that her daughter Fucking Died until Gus is like "so she may be a little. stuck."
cue Gus and Vee rounding up the rest of the vagabonds and converging back at Camila's in an attempt to explain everything. so, on one hand, not living in the streets anymore! on the other hand, we're stuck in the human realm with Luz's mom and have no idea what we're doing! yay!
also don't think about Hunter discovering the statues or the Gravesfield/Golden Guard insignia while trying to help the others and just Crumbling Apart right then and there in public, on his own. let's not think about that

Rambling About Hunter (The Owl House)
Warnings: discussions of neglect/abuse & dehumanization. Kinda sad and angsty in general.
Basically I just binged The Owl House and I think I deserve to be a little autistic about it. Especially about my favourite character Hunter because he’s my special little meow meow or whatever. This all probably won’t hold up after the finale (I’m writing this on 24/05/22) but eh I have my speculations about his character and I want to ramble about them. Mostly about What he is and how badly he is dealing with it lol.
Canon-inspired fanon, angst, and spoilers (duh) under the cut
Ok so. Hunter. The Golden Guard. Caleb? Uh, whatever you wanna call the guy. He’s a grimwalker (that reveal got me in the heart) and he is messed up and I have a lot to say about him ok. Let’s go.
First I wanna talk about how Hunter doesn’t want Willow and Gus to know he’s a grimwalker. Like, we the audience know they wouldn’t care, but it seems like Hunter thinks they would. Like they would see him differently somehow knowing that he’s a grimwalker. Which leads me to believe he thinks he’s somehow less/different now because of what he is. He doesn’t even KNOW what he is, really, aside from that he’s a copy.
And copy is a really interesting word to me. I think Hunter uses it himself. It implies something unoriginal, replaceable, and perhaps even less valuable than the ‘original’. Although Belos calls him a ‘better version’ of the original, he also says that Hunter was the most accurate to the original, which has gotta mess with your sense of self, right? Individuality must be really confusing for him, like, who is he, what is he, and is he truly his own person if he is a copy of someone else. Of course he is, but does Hunter believe that? God, it makes me too sad let’s move on to sadder things.
He’s lived his whole life trying to impress Belos so that he won’t be replaced, because that’s his biggest fear (likely because being replaced means being Dead) and now he finds out there were potentially HUNDREDS of copies before him? (Belos has been alive for hundreds of years so, I would say he’s probably had quite a few Golden Guards). The shot of all the masks strewn across Belos’ mindscape with Hunter just looking at them, horrified, was honestly haunting to me. Being so innately replaceable must just have messed with Hunter, and Luz barely acknowledges it (fair enough, she had her own shit going on) so I’m not surprised that Hunter ran away after that and decided to start living out of the trash. He was already a mess before then. What kind of teenager fears his boss so much that he legitimately starts digging his own grave in defeat? Hey that’s some real PTSD type shit don’t think I forgot about that.
Hunter is also 16, by the way, which I kept being reminded of by the show itself. Thanks show. And that makes it way more horrific to me. Like, the other Golden Guards are implied to have not lasted very long either, so I doubt any of them made it to their 20s or 30s. Which is some legacy to live up to, right? As someone who never quite thought they would reach 20 (and it is getting closer every day oof) I understand what it feels like to look in the mirror and still see a child who doesn’t know how to handle all of this. And I think Hunter, being so young and put into such an important position, might also be feeling that way even before he found out he was a grimwalker. It’s sort of a live fast die young kinda job.
Also, this is pure speculation, but because Hunter was Created, and the grimwalker info in the book doesnt seem to imply a timeline, just illustrations, we have no way of knowing how old Hunter ACTUALLY is. Like, maybe grimwalkers are born and then mature in a matter of days/weeks. Because how would Belos have the foresight to make a new one 16 years or so before the current one dies? Hunter knows nothing about the previous grimwalker, and only really seems to mention his trials before entering the emperors coven, as part of his ‘childhood’. But what if he’s only been alive for a few years and his memories are fake, placed into his mind to make him believe he’s a generally normal witch? That is something I would be freaking out about if I was Hunter. It’s a lot to take in. Very Blade Runner.
Back to Willow and Gus. Is Hunter upset that Luz found out about the grimwalker thing at the same time as him? It doesn’t seem like he wants anyone to know about it, maybe because he’s worried they will also see him as replaceable (like Belos did) or that he will have to start proving his worth so they see him as an equal. God. I don’t think Hunter fully trusts all of our protagonists, he still has his guard up at all times (cough cough PTSD) and he’s visibly more nervous than when he was the Golden Guard. It’s just smthn to think about.
Also the fact Hunter has scars? When there’s a healing coven that can clearly heal wounds leaving no scars (we have seen this!). Like, yes there have been other characters with scars, but they seem to be characters who have been way more severely hurt (eg Eda’s dad) and more deeply scarred. I think there are three possibilities as to why Hunter has scars:
Belos didn’t let the healers help him after he got hurt, so the scars healed naturally
The scars were super severe but they look less bad now because of healing magic
Belos made Hunter wait a while before summoning healers, giving the wounds more time to become permanent before being healed and therefore leaving scars
The last option is the most “fun” (not really) to me because what I mean by it is, maybe Belos hurt Hunter (as is implied throughout the show) and didn’t want the healers coven to know he was the one who did the damage, so he made Hunter wait (because he couldn’t risk the healers noticing the pattern of Hunter visiting Belos and coming back with wounds) for a while then claimed he was hurt on a mission of some kind, to cover his tracks. OR it was pure neglect, Belos forgetting/being too busy to call the healers coven and leaving Hunter to deal with it by himself. Both options are fucked up but also lead on to my next point:
Hunter finally realising why Belos was careless with him, why he hurt him, why he sent him on dangerous missions despite Hunter being unable to perform competent magic. It was because he’s literally a replaceable clone. I don’t think Belos wants Hunter to die on a mission, purely because making a grimwalker seems difficult and this Hunter especially was apparently most like the original. But I think Belos doesn’t care that much- doesn’t care enough to make Hunter’s life particularly safe. That realisation must be fucking crushing for Hunter- the person he has looked up to all this time never cared about him, always saw him as a weapon/tool, and really just hurt him for the hell of it. Fuuuuuck.
And now Hunter is seeing all the love and appreciation and determination coming from his new friends, and he cares enough to help them like they help him and I think what he’s scared of is all of it being a lie. Like Belos. Who he is now terrified of (and perhaps always was). He doesn’t want them to see him in the same way Belos sees him. Ugh he has so many issues he needs so much therapy. God.
Anyway seeing all the love around him must fuckin. Be difficult. Like, Luz and Amity, obviously, but just like all of his friends. They care about each other and I don’t think he entirely trusts that yet? But he is getting there and I would die for him and... cries.

The next day, it seemed that Hunter’s lunch break had rarely coincided with a reasonable hour for lunchtime, because Luz sent him a photo of what she was eating that day. (It appeared to be a mud grub sandwich, which she didn’t look especially thrilled about eating.) He sent back a photo of his cafeteria food. She responded with some emoji.

It was a link that led away from Penstagram. When Hunter clicked on it, it brought him to the video of Kikimora falling flat on her face and then wriggling around to dance music. Hunter had already seen this video many, many times, but he laughed again anyway.

Late afternoon, Hunter was in the middle of his usual patrol through Bonesborough, keeping an eye out for troublemakers or any civil unrest. It was a very slow day, though, and hardly anyone was around. He’d gone out to one of the massive demonic appendanges that existed in the town (this one was called ‘Dead Hand’ because it was unusually still compared to the other, twitchier hands). There had been a minor complaint lodged that somebody was trying to paint graffiti on the huge, scaly hand. When he got there, though, he found it was just a couple of kids that looked hardly older than toddlers, and they didn’t even know how to operate a spray paint can. He chased the kids away and then was left standing there in the silent streets of Bonesborough, sighing. Sometimes he felt like most of the duties he did for the Coven was just busywork.
Pulling out his scroll, he logged onto Penstagram and scrolled idly. Luz had ‘shared’ his Kikimora meme post and so it had a fair number of ‘likes’ and a few replies. This kept him amused for a few minutes, but eventually he grew bored.
His scroll buzzed with a new message.

A picture was included, and it had King curled up on the couch, with the Owl Lady’s palisman snuggled into his fur, both fast asleep.

He froze, his heart leaping at the blunt reply. Staring at the message in shock, he tried to make sense of it. What? She really thought-- she--

Hunter glanced up as he caught motion out of the corner of his eye. It turned out to be a Coven scout, carrying a spear, also out on patrol. Not really a surprise; it seemed the only people out today were Coven members.
The scout waved as he approached.
“Hello, sir! Run into any problems today?”
Ah, it was Steve. There were a great many coven scouts in their ranks, and Hunter admittedly didn’t recognize them all by name, but he recognized Steve. He had a rather decent . . . well, “friendship” was not the word. He had a rather decent acquaintanceship with him. It mostly consisted of Steve sitting next to him sometimes during lunch and rambling about whatever random things were rattling about in his head, while Steve in turn would listen to Hunter rant about Kikimora. It hadn’t ever gone beyond that, but still, it made Hunter feel slightly more at ease to be around a semi-familiar face. Well. A semi-familiar voice. He’d never actually seen any of the scouts maskless.
“Nah. Just told a couple of kids to go home before their mothers worry about them. Truly a test of my skills and training, I know, but somehow I prevailed.”
Steve laughed. It was strangely nice to have another person actually laugh at his snarky comments.
“Hey, at least it wasn’t one of those days where we had to clear out a sligguth infestation, right? I’d relish a little boredom in comparison.”
Hunter frowned.
“I guess so.”
The coven scout leaned casually against the Dead Hand’s wrist as he began to ramble idly.
“This job’s not quite what I expected, I’ll tell you that, but it does give me a lot of time to think, you know? It’s kind of nice on these slow days when nobody’s around to bother me and I can just do my own thing.”
Hunter raised a brow, even though his face was covered by his mask.
“You mean goof off?”
Steve chuckled again.
“I know I’m not the only one, weren’t you just looking at your scroll?”
Hunter jolted a little, even though he still had the scroll in his hand and it wasn’t a surprise the scout had seen. Accepting that he’d been caught out, he lifted the scroll back up and glanced at it. He answered wryly,
“As far as you’re concerned I was just monitoring social media for any potential rabblerousers.”
The scout nodded.
“Of course, sir.”
Hunter looked at his scroll thoughtfully for a few moments, considering the human he’d just been conversing with. He was struck with a sudden impulse. It was pretty out of character for him, but there was something about the human that seemed to make him do strange things. And in the moment, he didn’t really care.
“Hey, um, Steve? You wanna help me take, uh . . . a ‘selfie’?”
He handed his scroll to Steve. The scout shrugged.
“Sure. Although I don’t think it’s technically a selfie unless you take it yourself.”
Hunter hopped on his artificial staff and quickly flew up to the top of Dead Hand.
“All right, well whatever it’s called.”
He landed on the open palm of the giant hand and set his staff down. After a moment of hesitation, he reached up and pulled his Golden Guard mask off.
From below, Steve was pointing the scroll at him, fiddling with settings.
“Hmm, why don’t you try something a little more dynamic, sir?”
Hesitantly, he asked,
“Dynamic?”
“Yeah! Pose or something.”
He thought about that a moment, his mind casting back to when he’d first met Luz on the airship. Oh. Sure, he could do that.
He got down and sprawled casually on his side, leaning his chin into a palm, propping it up with an elbow. He held his mask in his other hand loosely against his waist and fixed the scroll with a steady gaze.
“Oh, that’s perfect, sir! Hold that. Hmm, the angle is a bit weird down here. Maybe if I backed up a little. . .”
Hunter had a better idea. He grabbed his staff and sent it down to the ground.
“Here, just ride that.”
“Oh, that’s genius, sir.”
Steve seemed unperturbed about this taking a little work, and he rode the staff up around Hunter’s hight and carefully adjusted his position.
“All right, good, now smile for the camera?”
Ugh, this felt kinda weird. He really did hate pictures. But he was determined to do it.
All right, just imagine it was Luz floating there. She wanted a selfie, he’d give her one.
He quirked his brow a little and slipped into a cheeky grin, gazing intensely into the scroll as if she was right there in front of him. He heard the scroll snap a few pictures.
“Wow, you’re a natural, sir. I feel like this would make a great recruitment poster! The old one is a little plain, you know?”
Hunter stood back up and shook his head as Steve returned the scroll to him.
“Nah, this is only for friends.”
He sat down on the hand, his feet dangling off the edge as he fiddled with his scroll. Steve landed and sat down beside him, humming,
“Of course, you need to keep the mystery of the original poster. People respect and fear the mask.”
Hunter nodded.
“Exactly.”
He hesitated as he looked at his picture. Did it look stupid? Should he actually send it, or maybe retake it? Was it too weird? Too . . . much? Maybe he should–
Oh, screw it.
He sent the photo to Luz before he could question it any further and chicken out. After that was a tense wait, but it didn’t last for very long.

The rest of patrol was just as stunningly uneventful, so Hunter spent the rest of it walking his route and talking with Steve. Honestly, it wasn’t so terrible a way to finish out the afternoon, which mostly was just letting Steve ramble on about his little brother and his newfound interest in Illusion magic. When Hunter returned to the castle, he had some very boring tasks that included taking stock of some new supplies (again, he found himself wondering if Belos just assigned him duties as mere busywork, but it wasn’t his place to question things). It took him several hours to complete and then he had a cold, unpleasant dinner at the cafeteria, but for some reason, none of it fazed him much, and he spent the whole time humming to himself, a little smile on his face.
When the evening came and he was finally free to return to his room, he gratefully collapsed onto his bed and stuck his face into the nearest book. It was a pleasant diversion for about an hour, and then his scroll buzzed. Eagerly, he grabbed it and found that it was Luz asking if he could help her with a few questions on her Beast Keeping homework. He agreed to help.
What had started out as just a few questions quickly grew into a much larger discussion.

Hunter did his best to get Luz back on track and explain the basic wyrm families, as well as the two competing theories on whether drakes evolved into dragons, or ampitheres evolved into wyverns and then some wyverns developed into dragons. Although Luz was a bit distractable at times and prone to chit-chat, she was also very enthusiastic and seemed genuinely interested in the subject. She also seemed to pick up the information fairly quickly. When they’d finished, she thanked him profusely and said she was going to spend another hour studying to make sure it was solidified in her head for tomorrow’s quiz. He bid her a goodnight and returned to his reading.
He continued to read until it grew very late, at an hour when his mind was very fuzzy and his thoughts were disjointed. He browsed Pentsagram a little, very amused to find Darius had shared his Kikimora meme, and it seemed to be spreading rapidly. He giggled at that for a bit and then his thoughts started to turn slowly along the memories of his day, over the discussions he’d had with Luz. There was a very pleasant feeling that flickered through him as he pondered things, like the bright little embers that popped off a crackling fire.
When his scroll buzzed, he sleepily picked it up and checked it.

He chuckled outloud and typed a response.

Hunter aimed his scroll, trying to get a shot, then grumbled because it didn’t look like much from his angle. He got out of bed and snapped a photo so she could actually see things.

oooh okay, it’s not so bad. seems cozy. that pillowcase looks pretty ratty tho lol

oh my god wait, you have a PLUSHIE?? I see that lil head poking out there!
Hunter quickly re-checked the photo, and to his horror, you could in fact see the hot pink head of his goofy little frog plushie sticking out behind a pillow.

Hunter grunted, dropping back down onto his bed with a defeated sigh. There was no way she was gonna drop this, he knew her well enough by now for that. Gruhhh.
He reached over and pulled the plushie out from behind the pillow. Wrapping an arm around it, he hugged it tight against his chest and aimed the scroll at himself, sticking his tongue out and snapping a photo.
When he sent it, Luz nearly combusted.

Hunter stared dumbly at the scroll for a while after she’d logged off, his fuzzy sleepy thoughts rolling about in his mind like a tangled ball of yarn. Letting the scroll drop down onto his bed, he fell asleep before even bothering to get changed for the night.

So, now that 2B ended, I’m going to look back at my hopes for it that wrote back in september. There’s some comments on the points I added after FATCDP released also
(put under a read more because theres quite a bit)
- More Raine, Hunter, Lumity, Lilith, Camila & Vee, Willow & Gus
We definetly got all these, and I’m so happy. I would have liked more CAmila and Vee but at least I know we’ll get them on S3
- Portal stuff
Eh kinda? Not much, though. I’m still wondering why Belos moved it to the head. Was it because the castle was being used for the DOU?
- King’s dad
Yep, we got it. I like how even theories I wasn’t expecting to be true were done in a way that I accept them. Like that and some in Hollow Mind
- More Belos and Wittebane lore
We got it and boy I’m so glad we did
- More Phiip diary entries

- WHAT’S A GRIMWALKER?
...Yep. Boy that hurts to be right and how the truth is even worse than I expected. I do love that Hollow Mind is a lot of we expected/knew but even more terrifying than we thought it was

That’s probably a scene from FATCDP but I can see her being talked like that by Belos in King’s tide also being what she mentioned. Hard to tell

To be honest i almost forgot there even was the debate about wheter Belos was Philip or the brother jsfddnjfnd, the reveal was great

Not much but still quite a bit, which makes me happy. I wish it showed if Luz used the invisibility glyph when she branded Belos or changed it to hide just the glove
- “We’ll be keeping an eye on the owl house inhabitants” (I just want to know what he meant by that because doesnt seem like it for now)
Ok so I kinda understand it now. He did keep an eye on them, especially before EaE happened, it just wasn’t with Hunter. He probably just assigned him to look closely if the owlfam did anything suspicious or anything like that, rather than full on spying.
- Adress Luz’s mental health pls (we kinda got that in follies but again I would like more)
It got adressed! Still full of trauma and guilt though!
- Hunter redemption (or at least just getting out of that horrible situation)
I don’t like how I phrased that, but the point still stands. Honestly the way it happened I never thought would be how he would get out of the EC. Like, it feels like the plot of many fanfics I read during the hiatus about him being taken in by the owlfam. I say that in a good way, it was really good
- Hunter and glyphs
We got it!!!! Only one time but we got it!!! I wonder if we will get him using glyphs again. Definetly not while they’re stuck in the human realm
- Luz and King discover about Raine (we got it in the best way possible)
We got it in the best way possible indeed. AND THEM MEETING WAS ALL I EVER WANTED!!! And Luz having them promise to keep Eda safe :,3
- “No more secrets” my ass (this actually might be the one that i dont think will happen since on follies the secrets were adressed)
Guess who was wrong, there are definetly still some secrets there, now Hunter also being on that equation as well. And probably some things that will be kept hidden from Camila now, which will hurt. And Gus now most probably knows about the grimwalker and Wittebane deal, so these all will be adressed
- The “spy” thing with Hunter (what does this mean, Dana)
I still don’t know what she meant by that. Probably just a nickname to throw people off to what he would be/do?
- Rascal’s name (yep we got it sjfjhsfd)
And we got it said on the show!!!
So yeah, most of them did happen! I’m thinking of revisiting my predictions for each episode even though I already kinda did that with most of them on my reviews

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR S3 EP2

"Amity! Have you found my mom and Gus?" "No not yet but they said they were going to go straight so we just have to try to go straight from here" Luz nodded and they all began to run. "Mama! Gus! We have to go, now! We think the collector is back!" "Oh it's too late for that i'm afraid." They all froze. They slowly turned to find Raine as a puppet and the collector next to them.
I don't want to have to write an entire fight thingy at 3:06AM so they defeated Belos FOR GOOD and Raine lived😋 They convinced the Collector to stop doing what he's doing and lift the puppet curse thing. Now to continue the fanfic💛💛
The collector slowly walked towards Hunter who was bent down. "You're scared aren't you? Scared that they'll all hate you. Scared that you'll lose your best friend" The child nodded. "That's ok. You're still a child collector, You were given the responsibility to deal with so much power it's not your fault" Now I know what you're thinking. How did Hunter know what to say? To be honest, he didn't. He was just saying what he wanted to be told when he became the Golden Guard. The collector hugged him weakly "I'm sleepy"
"Well where's your room?" No response. The kid had already fallen asleep. "Guess i'll just look around" He picked up the oddly light child and turned to walk away "Wait hold on Mijo i'm going with you" "No no it's alright, It'd be better if you stayed here with the others and Raine" (Fun fact: Hunter is the only one there who knows Raine) "are you sure?" Hunter nodded and walked away. Eventually he did find the room and put the collector down.
He left the room and went back to the others. "Have any of the puppets showed up?" Gus shook his head. [TIME SKIP 3 HOURS. About 200 Puppets have awaken, All the hexsquad parents have awaken👍🏽, Coven heads are still puppets, Collector is awake and playing with the walls, Raine is fine and awake, Eda, Lilith, king, and Luz are together and I think thats it] "Hey" Willow came up behind Hunter "Hey" "Whatcha doin?" "Watching a child god play with walls"
Willow sat next to Hunter and rested her head on his shoulder. He was way too tired to get flustered over it and just continued watching the collector. "How can some so little contain so much power" "No idea" Luz, Gus, Camila, and Amity came outside. Willow got up and they went to go and play around with the collector. Hunter got up and Camila went next to him. "Y'know..you can stay in the human realm if you want. You're always welcome" "Thank you but, I think i'm gonna stay here"
Camila put her hand on his shoulder. "Is something on your mind?" "No, just tired" She didn't believe he was just tired. He looked upset. Didn't want to force him to say anything though. She knew how he was with his feelings. "Hunter?" He knew that voice. Hunter and Camila quickly turned. It was "Darius?.."

Party at the clawthorne house.
You asked eda if it was ok and she said no at first, but then you begged her and she agreed to let you.
You ran to grab your scroll and call wills and Gus to bring amity over. You also make a call to Darius to bring hunter over.
After calling you get everything set up and ready to start your party. You were pacing from the door to the couch waiting the excitement boiling over you. (I do it when I know someone’s coming over to my house)
Luz watched you and put an arm around you shoulders holding them tight to calm your excitement.
“Are you excited”? She asks and you nod your head violently.
A Knock makes you turn from her grasp and open the door.
Gus, hunter,Willow,and amity are standing at the door.
“Hey y/n thanks for inviting us”! Gus shouts hunter looks at him with confusion on why he’s shouting.
That night hunter looked like he was having the best time of his life, he was.
And then when all of you got tired amity and luz snuggled on the couch, hunter fell asleep on willow (yes I ship huntlow) and gus he fell asleep on Hooty.
And you fell asleep on the floor.

The gang continued to rummage through the old boxes of stuff, talking endlessly about the outfits they'd wear and the strange holiday that humans celebrated. Gus was more than happy to know people dressed up as them, that humans celebrated witches and demons. They had their own day in the human world!
Hunter seemed to forget all about the earlier situation, ecstatic about the changes he could make to everyone's wardrobe. Only a few needed to be done of course.
He'd already finished his and Gus' the night before. Luz only needed help on the hem of her skirt and Amity with her cape and sleeves.
He had never really been used to physical contact so luckily Luz got Amity's measurements and vice versa.
That just left Willow.
Her outfit that she had presented to him left a few places for him to work on. But it just seemed so... plain. His mind was already at work for all the adjustments he could do and such as he rummaged through the tub of fabrics and materials.
He remembered Camila saying that he could easily become a fashion designer or open up his own boutique shop. Something like that. He had to give it to himself, he did do one heck of a job. A pretty amazing job.
"Ok. I'm all done. Where do you want me to stand?"
"Oh yeah!-" Hunter stopped rummaging, frozen in place as she presented herself.
She looked. Nice.
Not that she didn't always look nice- of course she did! She was always so pretty... Black. Not exactly her color, she could probably rock any color too be honest, but something about it made her peridot eyes pop even more with her dark hair.
Sure. Her school uniform was indeed a dark grey tunic and pretty much black but-

Ah. He was mind rambling again and Willow probably thought he was acting weird.
"Uhm. What all do you need adjustments with?" He asked, grateful he was able to get a full sentence out without stuttering or sounding like a girl.
"Oh well, you're the expert, so I was kind of hoping you'd fix it up however you wanted- well saw fit?"
Hunter glanced over the attire. He subconsciously put a finger to his chin, designer mode activated, and walked around the girl for inspection.
It was simple.
Add a longer hem, different color, maybe a darker black or green. Add a colored waistband so its not so dark.
But for that he'd need measurements.
"Hehelooksfinetomeyouregoodtogo!" He blurted out.
Willow frowned slightly, disbelief raised in her eyebrow she lifted.
"You really think so? I kind of don't feel like it's... me?"
Definitely not. You need more green. You're a witch but you're not dark and evil at all, you're life...
"Whaaaat? Noooo you're perfect!- I MEAN IT'S PERFECT Hehe" Titan he could feel his face burning now.
Willow looked confused for a second before a small smile graced her face. "If it has to do with measurements and stuff, i can do it?"
Wow. She was so smart and observant. She already figured him out. He groaned inwardly.
"It's not that i don't want to touch you- not that I do!" Unless it meant holding her hand or something... he thought momentarily. "I just. I'm not used to uhm. Well it's just-"
The plant witch then placed a hand on his shoulder ever so lightly, a knowing yet amused smile played at her lips. "It's ok Hunter, you don't have to touch me." Her face flushed slightly at that, "I just need your help walking it around me or well I'll show you. Where's your measuring tape at?"
"It's riiiiiight here" Hunter smiled gratefully as he picked it up out of his pile of sewing materials.
Willow then placed the end of it against the front of her waist and held it with one hand, holding out the other end to him. "Now i just need you to walk it around me and hand it back."
Hunter nodded. He grabbed the end of it and began his circle, ever so conscious of the wetness of her hair and the strange sweet scent that radiated off of her. He wondered what kind of shampoo she had used.
He knew Camila had bought quite a lot to go with their different hair types and dyed hairs. He wondered which one Willow used. This smelt different than the honey one-
"..unter? You can stop wrapping it" Willow giggled. "What you thinking about in there?" She asked, head cocked to the side as she poked his forehead playfully.
"Shampoo."
"What?" She snorted, bursting into giggles again.
"Eh. Sorry. I got distracted." He then quickly walked back around her until she put a hand up for him to stop and grabbed the tape. Putting it next to the end of the other and quoted the measurements. He quickly went and wrote it down.
She then did her arms and stated she thinks the rest fits just fine.
"So. Any ideas on what to do with it?"
"Of course." He smirked as he sat down and got out the things he thought would do perfectly.
"Great! Imma go take this thing off and let you work your magic." She winked and ran up the stairs.
He noted a small patch among the cluster of cloth. It had a 'W'.

Part of your world (a toh mini fanfic)
Since they came to the human world, everyone was very discouraged, it is not uncommon, they had lost a lot, their powers, their family, they didn't know how to get to the demon realm....
Luz was also worried and tired, she and Hunter had been two days looking for some portal to return to the boiling islands, because Plilip had to get there somehow, right?.... But that was the least of it, he needed to distract his friends in some way and he thought he knew how...
Her little head had thought of a brilliant idea that always encouraged her, a movie marathon.
She gathered a lot of movies, snacks, pillows and blankets to create the atmosphere, and gathered the gang on the sofa.
"Okey I I know we've been a little bit with the animos a little low, but today we're going to do a typical human activity."
Luz was in front of the TV trying to encourage the group, gus was the first to have his face lit up "we have a great variety of movies, I have Pocahontas, not this one, oh how about the hunchback of notre dame, eeee not, not this one..." *oh dios mio* she was realizing that most of the movies she had touched too closely on their situation, what she was going to do!?????
Hey what about this one?? Asked willow taking another movie "this one looks funny" The movie she picked up in question was the little mermaid, luz He thought it was the best option, of all the ones there were.
What is this creature? It is from the human realm??? Asked Gus looking at the cover "they are called mermaids, but they are not from the human realm, they are miths" explained Luz taking the VHS and putting it in the player.
So... They are like witches? "asked Amity looking at the TV" well.... They are? I mean they are creatures from the Greek mythology.... We could say yes?? " she reproduced the movie and the logo from the movie started.
And the group seemed to like it, gus was surprised with the illustrations, all the time asking things "and the real fish talk? I haven't seen any, you have to be a mermaid to talk to them? It will be the sirens from the demon realm? Do you think we will see any?...
Amity and Willow werevery impressed by the story and the plot and Hunter.... Hunter It seemed that he identified a lot with Ariel, he even got angry and began to refute the arguments of the fight between Ariel and his father "why she can not have human things? , leave her alone"
"Hunter it's just a movie, try to relax" Willow put her hand on Hunter's shoulder to reassure him and he did, but he quickly looked away.
The best part was the lake scene, And not because of the song, which he always liked, but because of Hunter's reactions.
First he was nervous, he was seen from his position, he was all the time watching Willow from TV and from Willow to TV, *oh Ho! I think someone has a crush* luz though
"now is your moment, flowing In a blue lagoon...." The song was coming to the end and Hunter stopped watching TV to focus on Willow, it seemed that he was getting closer and closer to her face, until the scene of the eels throwing the boat arrived, which caused Hunter to jump and throw the popcorn.
Luz couldn't hold back and started laughing "what? What's so funny?!" Hunter blushed from the tips of his ears to his face "haha your... Your... You looked great" in light gave birth a fit of laughter that infected the others, everyone except Hunter, who was now embarrassed.
"don't worry, here let me help you" willow giggled meanwhile He picked up the popcorn that was on the sofa "thank willow" hunter said without looking at it, until picking up one of the popcorn their hands touched.
They looked at eachother, she show her a gentle smile meanwhile his face fas as red as a tomato "OK thank you for the help I'm going to make more popcorn bye" And as quickly as he said that disappeared.
The whole film went smoothly, except for a few screams when Ursula tried to kill arel and Eric.
So what do you think?! " asked Luz stopping the movie credits.
"I, for one, I liked the movie, specially the songs" responded Amity giving luz a kiss on her cheek.
I did like the songs too, what do you think hunter? "asked willow
I.... I... I like it... A lot actually.. S.. Specially.. " he was looking at his hands when he was tying to find the words" the.... The lag... The battle scene, yeah jajaj that was cool!! "he was sweating too much and he hoped that nobody noticed it, But little escapes from Luz
Yeah bro the fight scene was very cool, I feel identified with Ariel, we are also obsessed with human things, surely we would get along pretty well" everyone agreed to that and Hunter whispered a thank to Gus "don't worry I got you" whispered him back.
In the end the movie served, everyone had forgotten a little about their situation and looked more animated, and Luz would ask Hunter tomorrow about his "not very brazen" crush by Willow.

~The owl house characters zodiac headcanons~ (part 2)
Lilith:-leo♌- I've met multiple Leo's in my lifetime and i can definitely see Lilith in a few of them. someone who is very loving at heart especially towards their family, but has a habit of putting themselves first, Wich isnt necessarily a bad thing! On the contrary self care is absolutely important, but as you can see with Lilith there are limits you should take and thoughts you should consider before y'know, cursing your sister. The thing that really sets this for me is Lilith's letter to hooty. Alsmost every aspect of that letter screamed Leo to me from the fangirling to the hint jealousy, so here ya go.
Willow:- virgo♍- i had a lot of trouble finding this one actually willow is such an awesome and complex character when you really look at her, but trying to fit that to a sing zodiac was challenging, in the end this one fit the most,which i don't know feels a little... obvious? Don't get me wrong she's got the hard working, and kindness qualites while also being worrier and timid at first but everything else idk. But hey zodiacs don't fully describe anyone, everyone unique in their own little way so.
Gus:-sagittarius♐- This one i knew almost instantly. Gus is pretty funny and comidic, as Sagittarius are known for their humor. İ can also see gus as very free spirited, and his love for human stuff and adventure also can fit Sagittarius traits. He's also a bit reckless and sarcastic/ a mood at times so this one just fit.
Hunter:-pisces♓- pisces are know to be adaptable, wise, and a bit naive. Wich are all a few aspects of hunter he's had to Learn to adapt to life outside of belos. He's known as a teen prodigy and is seen to be pretty intellectual on certain subjects, while also being naive on things like kids his age and what not. Can i say pisces perfectly fit hunter? No. İs it close and somethig I'm ok with? Yup.
Principal bump: -Aries♈- a bit weird for this list but just go with it. Now when i say ive met a few Aries, i mean I've met alot of Aries. So when my first instinct told me bump was an Aries i went with it, and I'm pretty pleased with this. Bump is one of if not the best cartoon principals. A trait of Aries is getting angry or upset at someone quickly but forgiving them just as quick or at least not holding any big grudge. This fits present bump pretty Welly to me. Their also known to be leaders, argumentive, and impatient at times. Bump is an amazing leader/principal,. When we first meet him he tended to argue with Luz quit a bit, and he seemed to want answers from hunter asap in labyrinth runners (understandable). But yeah i think him being an Aries just fits with his overall character.

Luz’s Crimes: Gambling
Inspired by Koolkon08 on Tumbler. “Luz runs a gambling scam.”
Gambling scam/ring
I am not endorcing anything illegal in this fic
Amity and Gus were siting next to each other in the shack, putting the finishing touches on the last few documents needed to make it look like they were humans born in the country.
“Just a few more touches, and…”
SLAM!
“I FOUND A MONEY MAKING OPERTUNTY!”
Amity jerked back from the table, smearing all the ink on the document she was just finishing, ruining hours of hard work.
She then turned towards Hunter with a look of murder in her eyes.
“What a coincidence, I was just found a soon to be dead body.”
Gus put a hand on her shoulder.
“Hold on Amity, lets hear what the opportunity is first. Also, Willow would be mad if we kill him without asking her first.”
At that, Willow walked though the door behind Hunter. “Yes, I would, and no you do not.” She then pulled Hunter into a side hug. “The only person allowed to kill Hunter is me.”
Hunter gave a little blush at that before extracting himself from the hug. “Anyway, I found a way for you to help with the finances Gus. There is a gambling ring out of a unsold store slot in the local shopping center. It’s pretty small, just a few card games, a roulette wheel, and some sports betting.”
Willow then took that moment to speak up. “My Gardner supervisor is actually the brother of guy running it, and asked if I would be willing to be a dealer for a bit since one of his regulars dropped out. He said that the pay is a flat rate plus a percentage of the money we get from people each month in cash.”
Gus’s eyes widened when the implications hit him. “You want me to use my illusions to cheat people out of their money?”
Hunter just smiled at that. “Almost, but there is one big factor that really sells this plan.”
Willow smiled with him. “Camila gambles there as well.”
Gus and Amity just looked at them before falling to the ground and rolling around laughing. They just stayed down there for a minute before noticing that Gus and Willow weren’t laughing also.
Luz decided to come back from the bathroom at that moment and took stock of her friends on the floor.
“Are you two ok?”
Gjus turned to look at Luz. “Luz, quick question. Dose your mom do any gambling?”
“Oh yeah. She has a friendly card game with the vet staff weekly . Why did you ask.”
Hunter filled in Luz on the situation, and her eyes lit up with understanding.
“You want to have Gus rig the games where she is playing so she wins.”
“Not too much though. If she keeps winning massive amounts of money people will think she is cheating and decide to either kick her out, rough her up, or just not play with her anymore.”
Gus stood up and sighed. “Ok, I will SLIGHTLY mess with the card games she is playing so she doesn’t lose any money at the tables. I can mess with the card games and the roulette wheel, but the sports betting is far beyond my abilities.”
Hunter just nodded. “That is all we are asking for Gus.”
Saturday Night
Gus had decided to take the form of a human Adrian Vernworth wearing some glasses, but went by Adrian Verner. Was he being a little petty be tarnishing the appearance of a foe he only met once?
Absolutely yes, but he was a kid and the guy tried to take away his ability to do magic and melt his brain.
He was working a poker table while also keeping a sound damping spell up around the gambling den.
He figured that anything that would prevent people from noticing that something was going on in a supposedly empty store was a good thing and would keep this going on for longer.
It was a hour into his shift when he noticed Camilla entering the building through the front door with a few other people he recognized from pictures on the wall of the animal clinic. The wandered over to his table which had just finished the last game and sat down.
A man with a green shirt looked at him suspiciously. “Who are you? Never seen you here before.”
Gus flashed the best smile he could, calling on all his ability to make the ugly mug as appealing as possible. “I am Adrian, a yes I am new here. I have been dealing here only a few days, but have extensive experience behind this.”
Camilla wacked the man on the shoulder. “Come on Jack. Don’t give the new guy the 3rd degree. Let’s get to playing some cards. Deal us in Adrian.”
Gus nodded and shuffled his deck before dealing out the cards, saving illusionary copies onto the inside of his glasses so he could keep track of who had which cards. The current hands had Camilla with 2 of a kind and another with a flush, but a little illusion from Gus before they lifted up their cards gave Camilla a 3 of a kind and ruined the flush.
He kept doing that all night, and eventually it ended with Camilla winning big.
“¡Sí! ¡Ven a mamá! She yelled, racking in her chips. “Guess who is buying everyone puppy shaped donuts tomorrow morning!”
At that the rest of her table cheered.
Gus just shot her a smile.
It’s times like this that she shows that she really is Luz’s mom.

The hardest part is figuring out how to have a gambling ring in a small town and where it would be. Rest assure, we will see more of this den.
