no comments were made as to whether Vee and Masha are still dating, but Vee did definitely have a crush on them

Luz finished high school on the isles, spending weekends and holidays in the demon realm

Flapjack was a gift to Caleb from Evelyn, and was probably the turning point in both their relationship and in caleb's acceptance of magic

neither Hunter nor Eda know about Eda's relation to Evelyn and Caleb (but it was hinted Gwendolyn might...)

The shack behind Luz's house where the portal is was originally where Caleb and Phillip lived; it was basically a ruin until Eda fixed it up during her time in the human realm

With the revelation of the Collector being just one out of a whole species and the whole “Collector creed” as in the book King read, it really has me thinking on the mural in King’s tower and the name of the Titan Trappers as a group. What if the big battle between the Titan Trapper and Titan was not about slaying the Titan, but rather about the Titan Trapper trying to subdue the Titan long enough for the Collectors to collect and preserve it?

After all, the comet IS headed towards the Titan’s face, and as we saw in this episode, well…

But given the established fact that Titan magic cancels out Collector magic this episode, as well as the mystery of how that battle ended, I feel the story of the Collectors and Titans may have gone in a direction like this:

Countless eons ago, the Collector (who shall be referred to as Cole for ease) came into existence to a group of Collectors. At some point, he was brought along to observe and participate in the collecting of a new planet as part of his training to be a proper Collector...

Amongst the creatures they set out to collect, they came across huge, powerful beings known as the titans whose magic, curiously, made them resistant to the Collectors’ magic. Desiring to collect such powerful creatures, they empowered and created the Titan Trappers, who would ideally trap and pin down the Titans long enough to actually collect them.

Practically though, the Titan’s magic proved too strong of a counter to the attempt to collect them, so while the adult Collectors tried to figure out how to preserve the adult Titans, Cole was sent out with the task of collecting the much weaker - and thus easier to collect - baby Titans.

However, instead of preserving them, Cole wound up playing and having so much fun with his unexpected new friends that he went to the other Collectors to argue for his new friends to stay UNcollected and UNpreserved. Aka going going directly against the “Collector creed.”

But rather than punishing Cole for deviating from their book of conduct and beliefs, the adult Collectors took outrage at the Titans who had “meddled” in their affairs and “corrupted” their poor, innocent, rule-following child.

To the adult Collectors, their precious Cole could not have come up with such heretical ideas on his own. Surely he could not have fallen into such a transgression against everything the group is meant to stand for out of his own free will.

No, it must have been the influence of the Titans and their horrific magic, and as decreed in the book of the Collectors, these meddlers in personal affairs MUST be eradicated. Thank goodness they caught this in time and prevented their precious Cole from forsaking their family and everything they believed in.

As for the demons who dared try to “corrupt” their child and by extension the rest of the Collectors, the the stars would descend from the heavens above to strike the world below in fiery judgement - a world which would be immolated as part of the efforts to prevent any swaying away from the truth that they all follow and have been teaching Cole to follow.

In other words, sounds an awful lot like a Puritan colonist getting so swept up in the fervor of burning witches at the stake as their interpretation of the Bible decreed - so swept up that they cannot accept a loved one’s true self could deviate so far from the norms of society and blames such deviancy on witches and demons, amiright?

so. When I was at New York comic con, someone asked Dana about hooty backstory, right? She said that they were originally going to explore that in s3, but they had to cut it and just hint at it in the finale.

And then we got this. The supposed hint. A small hooty poking out of papa titans eye.

so what does it all mean? No fucking clue. But I hope one of you guys has a theory about it.

You know this got me thinking. What would happen if Vee managed to suck all the magic out of Belos?

So now we have the confirmation

Evelyn was a clawthorne and so Eda, lilith and Hunter are related, but they don't know.

It is so sick that all this time Belos might have know and He was the superior of Caleb's offspring and his great-great-granddaughter punched him that broke his nose.

And it would be much more twisted if all this time Belos had in the head of his coven the great-great-granddaughter of his brother and public enemy number 1 also another great-great-granddaughter without him knowing anything.

And that Hunter is now working with Dell is like a circle, Caleb taught Evelyn and now Dell teaches Hunter.

Like "hey kid you have a talent with this, You even look like a Clawthorne!!"

And hunter doesn't know anything.

I wonder when the fandom will remember that Vee's going to get ALOT bigger and scarier as she grows up.

This isn’t exclusive to that one basilisk either, all the others she was with developed the same traits. (granted not as pronounced, probably cause they’re still young)

(You may be wondering, why they would look so different, but I a theory for it)

Tyrannosaurus Rex wasn’t just the single most massive and powerful predator that lived on land, it was also the only large predator on its continent during its entire reign. This was due to a rare form of Ontogenetic Growth,(which is the physiological changes in an animals development). Unlike other animals who are simply smaller and/or less formed versions of their parents, ala most reptiles, mammals, and even birds. The chicks of Tyrannosaurus were much daintier and more gracefully built than their parents; with smaller skulls/teeth and longer legs proportional to their body mass. This allows them to run much faster and catch smaller and more nimble prey than the adults, thus avoiding direct competition for food with them in youth. Only ages 14-18yrs old do their adult traits rapidly develop. Their bodies/limbs beefing up immensely, their teeth/skulls becoming more robust to take on the large prey they subsisted on as well as compete for territories against rivals. This combined with the protection of their parents allowed them to push out all other intermediate predators,(save Dakotaraptor), and monopolize the entire predator niche of Late Cretaceous North America.

As you can probably tell by close inspection Vee’s differences in appearance to the Greater Basilisk line up very well with the T-Rex. Her jaws/fangs are considerably smaller with her neck also being shorter/skinnier. In contrast, the fully developed adult basilisk could easily devour both an abomination and Willow’s buff plant monster whole. But it seems that while basilisks draw a lot their powers from magic, it doesn’t play a directly vital part of their immediate survival as Vee appeared no worse for wear with her magic shortage. And seeing as she also didn’t hesitate to attempt snapping up Luz as a treat it’s safe assume adult basilisks are carnivores,(or at least predatory omnivores like coyotes/hornbills/bears). Vee and perhaps even her slightly more developed peers on the other hand would likely fail spectacularly trying to replicate this,(not that would if they could either). So its safe to assume that whatever they would be going after, it would generally be both smaller and more manageable such as the demon rats/birds, magical objects, fruits/plant matter, and even cooked foods. This allows both youngsters and adults to occupy a territory without completely depleting it in a short period of time. This may initially seem hard to believe, but note the giant basilisk wasn’t exactly normal, as Vee explained her peer’s ravenous behavior stems from the major psychological damage their constant experimentation they were subjected to by Belos. In reality, Basilisks would’ve drained and consumed only one or a couple creatures in a single sitting to prevent prey stocks from running out.

At the end of the day however, this is just fun speculative biology/evolution, unless confirmed by the creators take everything I say as only theory not canonical fact. This also isn’t here to say that Vee or any of kind are naturally “evil,” it’s clear cruelty/violence isn’t inherent to them no more than any other witch or demon in the isles. "all the black framed memories have gray and reddish spots, as opposed to the white framed ones, which have (if any) white spots. the only crystal clear memories (besides the repaired portal door) are of belos's childhood memories with caleb, before caleb met evelyn. the white framed memories become increasingly spotty from then on. this is likely because caleb leaving was traumatic for kid philip, so all the demon realm interactions and creating grimwalkers reminded him of what he viewed as the most painful event of his life. philip never moved on from that moment. the grimwalkers in his memories match the appearances of some of the apparitions he saw in the episode For the Future."

I feel like Belos never intended to murder his brother. His body position shows that he is not walking towards Caleb with the knife. His head, chest etc is not directly facing Caleb but facing the other direction. I believe Philip is walking towards Evelyn with the knife, and that he intended to kill her, not Caleb. And Caleb is just trying to defuse the situation. Masha did say Belos wanted to safe his brother and bring the witch that took him to justice.

Which left us with three options that I can think of happened:

1) Belos accidentally killed Caleb. He wanted to kill Evelyn, but Caleb got in between to protect Evelyn and unintentionally got the blow.

2) Belos wanted to kill Evelyn, but got himself lost in anger and he ended up accidentally killing Caleb instead.

3) Belos wanted to kill Evelyn at first, but then he realized that Caleb won’t be able to be saved because he was too far gone. So Belos decided it was better to kill them both.

Lots of people here on tumblr pointed out that Belos kept Caleb’s jacket. But may I add that not only did Belos kept Caleb’s jacket, but Caleb also carved him a mask during their childhoods, and decades later he used the same design for his mask as emperor.

Not only that, but he also kept the doodle of him and Caleb after the murder. Yes, it was after the murder because Philip’s beard is longer. He already had the titans blood, no need to keep it but he did. It doesn’t matter if Caleb drew it or Belos himself, he still kept if after the murder. He even made countless Grimwalkers to have some version of his brother with him, knowing full well they will all eventually betray them when they find out the truth.

This man is dealing with unresolved grief and guilt in an unhealthy way, desperate to cling to anything that links to his brother and his past. “Because of you, we can finish our work as witch hunters together”. Belos says, while possessing Hunter, which is a Grimwalker of his brother. In his mind, he’s in Caleb’s body now. He is now together with his brother. This line shows that Belos desires for normalcy and that he can’t let go of the past, he wants things to be how they where when he and Caleb were still witch hunters. Before Evelyn, before the boiling isles, when it was just him and Caleb and no one else. Which is why I think he created grimwalkers of Caleb, it’s the desire for normalcy and return to the past but also the grief and guilt he is experiencing.

According to Belos, he committed genocide because he wants to safe humanity. It looks like that he has a god complex? But I think Caleb might have played a role in it as well as to why he did it? “Our family is gone because of wild magic”. I won’t be surprised that if Belos blamed the witches for Caleb’s murder rather than taking full accountability. I think he has that if these witches didn’t brainwashed Caleb, I wouldn’t have killed him mindset. And what better way of revenge is to destroy the world and everything in it that took his brother away from him?

I’ve seen fans wondering why spending decades around witches, Belos still sees them as evil rather than good. Well, he feels guilty for murdering his brother and is hiding behind his beliefs as an excuse I think? Like I said, he is blaming his death on witches. Admitting that witches are good, is admitting you’re brother was right and that it is your fault he is death. I think deep down he knows witches are good and that he’s in the wrong for murdering Caleb, he is just being a hypocrite?

Belos has complicated feelings towards Caleb. He is angry with Caleb for abandoning him for witches (in his eyes he did), but at the same time I think he loves him. He has good memories of them together which he is unanable to let go off. Like I said, he is grieving him. Remember, Belos and Caleb are orphans. Belos lost his parents, his brother was the only thing he still had. The one who raised him. The one who didn’t abandoned him. Caleb wanting to stay the boiling isles must have hard for him.

All of this what I just described. The guilt, grief, clinging to anything that links to his brother and past, such as his coat. The grimwalkers, the desire for normalcy, I think option 1 and 2 is more likely rather than option 3. Especially if Evelyn is pregnant, which she seems she is. Caleb was about to have child with a witch. Most likely in his mind, he wanted to kill Evelyn and it’s offspring, take his brother home, and unbrainwash him so they can be witch hunters once again. So yeah, I believe Caleb’s death is more of an accident rather than intended.

Take what a wrote about Belos with a grain of salt. So please be nice! This is how I view Belos, and I’m aware that I could be wrong. Season 3 is still going on, and everything that I have written can still be disproved. Belos is a complex character, which makes it difficult to analyse him. Which is why I love Belos, because of how complex, interesting and well written he is. I always feel I should add this whenever I write about Belos: even though I like Belos, I do not condone his actions. And I’m not excusing his behavior in any way. What he has done is by all means not okay, and plain out disgusting.

As i’ve seen a few other people point out, these photos definitely give off the vibes of the Diamonds from Steven Universe. Three mighty rulers, and their overshadowed little sibling.

plus! the fact that the other Collectors seemed to want to be in total control of humanity, while our Collector just wants to play, is similar to how the other Diamonds wanted to claim Earth as a gem factory, and Pink wanted to learn about Earth and see the joy in it

the second photo has another Collector though. i wonder what that’s all about?

the characters on the right are clearly not the Collectors, it was hard to see in the original images.

if they arent Collectors, who are they? what do their hats symbolize? why are they befriending our Collector?

i don't know if this has already been talked about before, but i just wanted to point out something interesting i noticed in TOH

see them? see how their eyes have that little glint? all the characters in this show have that reflection of light in their eyes.

except for Belos.

his eyes area very dull shade of sky blue and it does not reflect light. it doesn't have that glint.

his eyes look lifeless, cold and raw. even when his face shows expressions, his eyes are completely devoid of emotion.

even in frames where there's light shining at his face, and there should realistically be a reflection. there isn't.

and guess what. he had the glint, like the other characters, when he was still Philip. when he had just come to the boiling isles and hadn't become a false prophet, tyrant or an abuser yet.

he was still a terrible person back then but i'll bet that he had some ounce of empathy at the time. but not anymore. Belos is now completely inhumane. he has no empathy, no regret or remorse, he does not care what he has to sacrifice or what he already sacrificed, he does not care for the well-being of anyone, not even himself.

you can't even describe him as self-serving because the man is willing to destroy his entire body and turn into a gooey bone monster, if it means accomplishing his goal.

all that matters to him now are his flawed ideals that he so stubbornly refuses to change. he traded his body, soul and his ability to relate to and connect with others, all for a chance at fulfilling a dream that was never worth it.

The Collector describes themselves as “trapped beneath these bones” and “betrayed, beguiled, alone and deceived”. If we are to take “beneath” in a literal sense, theories about the Day of Unity involving the Titan’s ressurection may still hold water. But then they do this:

We’ve seen the theories about the Collector possessing Luz, but what if their end goal is the Titan’s body?

I just wanted an excuse to draw the previous golden guards. Yknow, try make them all look related and/or copy pasted from a similar blueprint that Belos tried to perfect over time.

Gave them names inspired by the Wethersfield witch trials in Connecticut. %D ... except for Stultus, which is just Latin for stupid. (Belos was upset with his face, I guess)

Maybe Belos kept a logbook of the grimwalkes, documenting their demise so he could avoid making mistakes that led them to betraying him.

And perhaps Hunter eventually gets his hands on the logbook and reads about the former Golden guards/grimwalkers.

Officially he's the youngest golden guard, but I thought; "Ah wouldn't it be horrible if the first youngest one was murdere shortly after he became a GG because he stumbled onto the truth too soon and had nowhere to hide." :,) and it was after that, that the golden guards were put on trials first.

This picture kills me every single time I see it, because you can tell so much from each character just based on how they’re holding themselves,

Willow hunched over, trying to make herself look as small as possible. Every insecurity she’s ever felt has just come back in tenfold and she wants to disappear, make herself look as small as she fells, take up as little space possible. She feels vulnerable and useless.

Amity stands posit and perfect, trying to hold herself respectfully and gracefully. No doubt how she would have been expected to act at every fancy party, with every one of her families clients. She’s been trained how to treat adults and in her moment of fear and uncertainty it’s all she can fall back on, she doesn’t know what’s she’s feeling or what they’re going to do next but she knows how to politely greet an adult.

Gus is holding himself as tightly as possible, his fingers are probably digging into his skin to keep himself grounded, he’s absolutely terrified and unlike the others he has no defence, he can’t hope to hid himself or fall back into old manners, he’s 12 and simply forced to feel his emotions. He’s 12 and he’s been around kids older than him for so long that he’s forgotten, but now he feels unbelievably young.

Hunter holds himself tall, almost glaring at Camilla. While everyone else looks at her with sad but hopeful eyes, he looks like he’s daring her. The only adult he’s ever trusted has just completely betrayed him and he filled with nothing but rage. But he’s never been one to put himself first and Gus is hurt and it’s easier to comfort Gus than to even try and comfort himself.

And Luz, Luz is so conflicted. Her arms are tense and only slightly raised, rather than instantly throwing her self at her mom, arms wide open, she’s hesitant because as happy as she knows she should be in this moment, even though she’s gained her mom back she’s lost everything else.

These five are scared and cold and wet, they’re so unbelievably vulnerable in this moment and they’re trying to focus on something, anything other than what just happened and it’s crazy how you can tell so much from each of them just based on how they stand at their lowest
