Captain America Annual #5
Action and a fascinating villain.
Cap meets a man who is obsessed with death.
I gave this a re-read because it features the Constrictor, who pops up in a couple of 1991 stories that I read recently. Here: he’s just the secondary villain, who is out of the way after the first 5 pages. His scheme is straightforward and unimaginative. Perfectly in keeping with his character.
The other villain, however is a doozy. His thing is filming people while the die. And the showdown with Cap is a thriller. The villain’s demise is reasonably haunting, too. So, all in all, an above-average comic.
Almost 4 years since I first read this.

I'm drinking a birthday smoothie from Smoothie King, and reading my book. After that I'm gonna go to Crumbl Cookies and get my free birthday cookie (Pumpkin Chocolate Chip 🍪) and later this evening, my family and I are going to an Italian restaurant I picked out so I can eat Fettuccine Alfredo and Cannoli 😋

What if Barty Crouch Jr. was the reason why Sirius Black didn't go completely insane in Azkaban?
Not that Barty suddenly decided to betray Voldemort and join the Order but Sirius was the only connection to Regulus that was left. Like a memory or a ghost.
And Barty could not afford to lose that, to lose those precious memories of Regulus to dementors.
So he has spent every night reassuring Sirius from his prison cell across from Black.
"You did not betray them. It was the rat. You are not crazy. Regulus, James, Lily and everyone else would be proud of you. You are not a monster."
Unfortunately, Barty could not save himself while also protecting Sirius. He didn't regret his decision, tho. It was the only one he couldn't afford to regret.
