Hello! I’ve gotten a flood of new followers thanks to an addition I made about NOT torrenting from the Pirate Bay, so I want to address it better.
If you’ve come to check my blog for more piracy resources, advice, guides, etc, then check out some of the links in this pinned!
First and Foremost, Do not do Anything without an adblocker. Ublock Origin is the best.
Resources/Wikis: 🌟Top recommendation is the Free Media Heck Yeah Wiki, frequently updated, maintained, and transparent, as well as has a welcoming community behind it if you have questions. The rest are for redundancy's sake and for anything not found in FMHY, though most Wikis on this topic tend to repeat the same info. 🌟
VPN Comparison Chart - General Rule of Thumb, DO NOT use any VPN recommended by Youtubers, influencers, or any other shill with a profit motive. Large marketing budget does not equal good privacy practices. Do your own research.
-Since both Mullvad VPN and IVPN are planned to now suspend port forwarding support, the next best choices for torrenting though a VPN seem to be AirVPN and ProtonVPN.
HOWEVER, AirVPN has no evidence of a no logging policy (aka there’s a chance they keep records of what you do on their service) and ProtonVPN has no method of anonymously signing up and use a subscription model instead of a preferable pay-as-you-go model. So take that as you will.
(NOTE: You do not need to pay for a VPN if you are only directly downloading from a server or streaming off of websites! But it’s probably a good idea for privacy reasons anyways.)

-If you torrent you need a VPN depending on how strict your government is on copyright laws. This works on a case by case basis, so I recommend looking up your own country's laws on the matter. Generally speaking, use a VPN to torrent if your country falls under The 14 Eyes Surveillance Alliance. More info on what that is Here.
A Note about Antivirus:
- If you're using trusted websites, and not clicking on any ad links/fake download ads (Should be blocked by ublock), then you don't necessarily need any antivirus. Common Sense and Windows Defender should be enough to get you by. If you would like to be certain on what you are downloading is legitimate, then run your file through a virus scanner like VirusTotal. Keep in mind that when scanning cracked software some scans may flag “false positives” as the injectors used to crack the software look like malware to these scanners. Once again, the best way to avoid malware is to use trusted sites listed here and use an adblocker at all times.
If you have any questions on anything posted, need help finding things, or just need some clarification on any terms used, shoot me an ask or message! I've got a few years experience with not paying for anything I want, and LOVE to help others with this kind of stuff. Alright, time for some obscure Persona 3 history. I was browsing the old Japanese Persona 3 website, when I stumbled across something interesting. This is what it looks like normally (Vanilla P3 specifically)
But on certain captures of this website on the Wayback Machine, it was set to midnight (JST). The website was coded to have a special easter egg that goes off around that time, as the Dark Hour clock appears...
And then the site is now in the Dark Hour.
Click on the Akihiko, Mitsuru, Fuuka, and Junpei, and cause them to disappear, and Yukari will start to glow.
And you will have unlocked a secret section of the Japanese website! This mostly contained diary entries on various perspectives regarding the Dark Hour (on one section, there even was text regarding Strega's revenge request site), but there also were some secret downloads, namely a supposedly early version of a Persona 3 commercial (which Google translate says it was rejected by a TV station for containing subliminal content?), MP3 downloads, a video showcasing the P3 girls in maid costumes in Tartarus, and a message from Elizabeth to the player (which acted as a tease towards the new Elizabeth requests being added in FES). I have the latest capture of the secret section of the website, as well as a capture of the website during the Dark Hour so you can try this for yourself! (You'll need Ruffle for this)
Speaking of the Persona 3 website, let's go over some of the evolution of the P3 website! Here's the original version of the website when Persona 3 was first announced.
It was updated from P3's initial announcement in March towards May when the newer website was launched, last major update was Fuuka Yamagishi's character profile. Here's a Wayback Machine link for you to try it out yourself.
Here is the website around the time they were teasing FES. Makoto is replaced with Aigis, and there was a section containing audio messages from the developers that would help tease FES. (So far, they are lost media? Hopefully some fan manages to recover them)
And here is the FES version of the website, with both the normal and Dark Hour variations. (Metis replaces Yukari on the Dark Hour variation of the website, though I cannot access the secret section, probably because the silly toaster is blocking the way)
And just for funzies, I thought I'd include this link regarding P3 ads in this blogpost on the old AtlusNet. Hopefully somebody will get high quality scans of the magazine ads and promos used to promote P3 in both Japanese and English.
Now to wonder, what other crazy P3 promotional stunts did Atlus do? I know there was a countdown on the Atlus USA website that counted down the days until the release information on FES would be provided to the world, and I'm well aware of various Japanese gaming magazines that had various info on P3 (that so far only exist as JPEGS on the old Digital Devil Database and other websites), but man, I wanna know more. The fans should be archiving a lot of this stuff. Reload has re-triggered my Persona 3 phase, and I want to know more secrets about the game. I honestly think there's a lot of cool things waiting for us down the line...

Hey there! If you want to block ads on a phone, there's a reasonably easy way to do it (It won't block all hands but it will block 95% or more of them)
What you can do is you can go to this website, and follow the instructions for your device, whether it is an iOS or an Android phone. If you are having any problems, you can just send me an ask or something, and I'd be happy to help!

Bonus Round (you don't have to read this): I'll explain what this will actually do. When you set this up, you are changing your default DNS server. Usually, it just uses one that is set by your service provider, such as a proprietary one, or the 8.8.8.8 address provided by Google.
A DNS basically gives your device a map of the internet, and translates web addresses (such as tumblr.com) into IPs (such as 192.0.77.40). What this ad blocking DNS does is that it spoofs the address of ad-serving websites, and returns either an error, or it redirects it to its own website. Either way, the ads on your phone don't work because your apps can't connect to them at all!
Unfortunately, this method is not perfect, so you'll get some stuff like tumblr's "in-house" ads, like the colour of the sky socks et al, so if you can't live with that, you could always try to download some app off the internet instead, but that's always a bit more risky.

I saw in the notes of one of your posts that you have dermatillomania. I was recently diagnosed with that but it's been a problem for a long time. I've never met anyone else irl with dermatillomania, and I was just wondering if you could share any coping mechanisms you use? I've been getting acrylic mail manicures so I physically can't break skin but that only prevents damage. It's not helping me actually break the habit at all

congrats on finally getting your diagnosis!! for those who don't know, Dermatillomania is a skin-picking disorder believed to affect as many as 1 out of 20 people, whether they're picking/biting at cuticles and nails, plucking hairs, popping pores or picking at scabs etc. etc. The skin-picking can be compulsive, often serving as a self-soothing behavior against extreme emotions, stress, anxiety, excess energy or simply boredom
first, check out the wonderful folks at the Picking Me Foundation, the largest nonprofit & digital resource for those with dermatillomania. Their website has an online support group, self-logging downloadables, and their "fiddle pack project," for strategically selected (and tailored for dermatillomaniacs [not sure if that's a word but i decided it is now]) $30 multipacks of stim toys!
they're 100% nonprofit, and every pack they sell is matched with the international donation of a pack to a therapist, pediatrician or fellow dermatillomaniac in need!

Picking Me has A++ strategic advice for their stim toys, and thinking strategically about your own behaviors and habits is my biggest advice. what does your picking look like? when do you find yourself doing it?
if a pattern doesn't immediately appear, try logging when & where you find yourself picking, what happened beforehand, and how you feel while doing so.
part of dermatillomania I don't always see discussed is the satisfaction of seeing your body's landscape change; picking as a control tactic, a means of self-soothing and reaffirming your autonomy and power. or it may be an expression of perfectionism, or anxiety, or beyond. pay close attention to yourself. look for the overlap. what is picking doing for you?
once you recognize the mechanisms of picking, what needs it's fulfilling, and when, and how; then you can provide new pathways for your habits to flow down; I realized I tended to pluck my brows (and beyond...) in the bathroom, so boom: stim toy in the bathroom. figure out your unique physical locations and cues and give yourself new options
also, hide or obstruct the ease of access to former habits. acrylic nails are a great personal block; I put my sharp tweezers in a wildly inconvenient place, not out in the open, so it's harder for me to casually grab them. if you bite your nails or cuticles, buy the nail polish that makes it taste gross. if you pick at inflamed pores, use zit stickers (I prefer the cheap and plentiful OG brand, COSRX, which are barely-visible circles, but you can make it fun with any of the 10 zillion novelty shape brands now available at Sephora, Target, Marshalls/T.J. Maxx & most drugstores) make picking difficult, and give yourself other options
similarly, you can challenge yourself to lovingly make growth your focus. smooth cuticle oil into your skin; use growth serums & your favorite-colored polish on your nails; for facial picking, give yourself spa days of clay masks (fun to pick off as they dry!), pore strips (SO satisfying), and scar-reducing facial oils like rosehip; for bodily picking, moisturize with lovely non-comedogenic oils and smooth Mederma or natural scar-reducing remedies to help your skin heal. put all that time and focused attention + love and gratitude into increasing, not reducing, your body (+ self)
re: gratitude, I swear to god Jessica Defino had a post about gratitude as a skincare routine; thanking your skin everyday for its work as a barrier, for it's countless built-in systems that self-exfoliate, self-moisturize, self-heal and grow, all while keeping a harmful world at bay. the skin is our largest living organ, and it is here to keep you warm and safe. your skin is built to touch and hold, to hug and be hugged. you can learn to love it the way it loves you. you can touch yourself as gently, as kindly as you deserve to be touched. this, too, is a kind of growing.
(Also to my facial & pore-picking beauties: just read any and all of Defino's articles about simplifying [like, soap water and moisturizer simplifying] your skincare, skin-fasting, the joys of touching your face gently, and more<333)
figure out what actions and textures you've become accustomed to, and, whether you have the benefit of a pack of stim toys like Pick Me's or just certain blankets, jackets, fidget jewelry, or one Really Good Rock, try to find stims that mimic, replace or even subvert the textures you've been drawn to. you want something satisfying and engaging to play with while still feeling meditative to you.
or if stim toys aren't your thing, (and even if they are!) try tactile pastimes that lead to obvious visual progress: painting, drawing, knitting, woodworking, cooking/baking!, cleaning [dishes, sheets, etc.] gardening, so on & so forth. things that prove your control & show the mark of your will wrought upon the world
the next time you find yourself wanting to pick (hopefully waylaid by an alternate hand function and/or strategic obstructions) take a mental step back. carve out that space between impulse & action. pool the feeling into your palms and examine it, tilt it around to see it catch a different light. how are you feeling right now? what's causing you to feel this way? what else could help you alleviate or accept that feeling?
if it's stress, anxiety, anger or other strong negative emotions, rest one hand over your heart, one over your lovely stomach, and take several deep yoga breaths. Long inhale through the nose, hold for a few seconds, longer exhale out. Let your throat make noise. After a few minutes, make a list of what’s worrying you and help yourself rationalize what tiny steps will help lessen their effects on you.
(Deep breaths, longer exhales and putting a hand over your heart have each individually been shown to alleviate your body's stress response, an immediate way to gift yourself some calm and a sense of safety)
if it's boredom; again, new textures and pasttimes are your friend. try going for a walk or other physical action of your choice (does not need to be long or challenging to be good for you!), listen to a podcast or new music, challenge yourself to try something new you've been wanting to explore, but can never find the time. a desire to pick can indicate you are suffering from a lack of enrichment: so yes, now is the time to try to learn the kalimba.
so, yes, it turns out i do indeed have many answers, but my initial scorn comes from any suggestion i might be above my bad habits; I've picked at my skin several times today. and that's okay. try to recognize and subvert your impulses when they happen, but also acknowledge and accept that they will happen. that's just how it goes babey. progress, not perfection.

alright so we're tasting the corn starch, as folks are wont to do. and its yuckynasty, and we really wish we had some water, right.
oh no problem, i say, it looks like theres a corner store right over there! ill go grab a bottle or two. and before anyone can protest, off i go! store time! store time!
but dear listener. this was no ordinary store. for u see, the inoffensively-named "dashmart" may have conjured images of a grab-and-go convenience store, when i arrived it quickly became clear what this was. which was that this was a ghost-kitchen-style pickup location for doordash delivery service grocery shopping. it is immediately clear this is a disaster because the delivery drivers are having to present their phone for pickup, get handed some bags, step aside and fiddle with their phones, then present them again, get a new bag, over and over.
i awkwardly sidle up to the window, point at the water bottles that i can see in the shelves behind the man at the pickup counter. "I know this is like, an app thing, but is there any chance I can just give you a $5 and buy a couple water bottles?" i know even before I ask the question that the answer will be no. of course not. i am at the inconvenience store.
fucking FINE, i will download your stupid fucking app. and make an account, and forgot-my-password, and paste the code into the code paster thing. hey wait why
the spinner boxes on the code inputs block the boxes. on the phone it is impossible to enter the code. you cant even see half of the number that you input.
fucking FINE. maybe the app is out of date. i promised it would be a quick jaunt and ive been gone 10 minutes by now. do i text these new friends "hello. this store is evil. i have not forgotten about you. i will return as soon as i can"? or is that weird. updating app. oh hey it works now, it's letting me input the new code. WRONG. "ERROR DETECTED: <some hex string>".
fucking god dammit. i can see the water bottle. i am holding a crisp fiver. which can be, exchanged, for goods. and services. fuck this shit. fuck everything that tech has ever touched. there is a water bottle 10 ft from where I stand and a man who would like to give it to me and neither of us can do this because some chucklefucks in silicon valley couldn't do javascript good.
i bottle up this annoyance. i rap on the window, hi hello i cannot seem to get the app or website to work. i know this is silly but. if i give you $5, can you order me two water bottles on the app,?

I'm gonna ramble for a moment. I was rereading your "Why are you in my apartment?" fic again and had a random thought.
Ortho having a sort of childish jealousy/one-sided rivalry with in home assisstents (Think Alexa, Echo, ect.).
Just picturing us going "Alexa add milk to the shopping list." then turn around to see Ortho pouting like "I can add Milk to the shopping list and go with you to the store to get the milk."
The idea was just so cute to me. Feel free to ignore this, I just had to get the thought out of my head.

When you ask your home assistant to play music as you chop up some vegetables or cook something over the stove, you miss Ortho's presence in the doorway. You also miss the way his eyebrows furrow and he actually looks annoyed. Thus is why he goes to Idia to request if there's a way he could get a built-in stereo system installed into his system. Next thing you know, the next time you're about to ask for music, Ortho eagerly interjects and exclaims that he now has a feature that can play any music you would like! It has a volume power that can even be heard blocks away, like the stereo system commonly used in stadiums! You assure that much volume is not needed.
When you ask your home assistant to list off your reminders for the day and any planned events you placed on your digital calendar, Ortho is back to work. He's downloading your calendar and keeps close to you, in order to hear about any extra additions you might add to the calendar. That way, when you wake up in the morning and he presents you with coffee, he's happily reciting all your reminders and events.
Then you start asking your home assistant to show you videos. Well, it's a good thing he already has a holographic system built in! He takes over, bring up holograms of the images or websites or videos you wish to see.
See? He's so much better than that silly old home assistant! You can throw it out, because you don't need it anymore. You have him to help you out!

Blocking Ads on Mobile Devices
Blocking ads on our phones is way harder than it should be so I figured I'd make some recommendations. These are not the only options out there, just the ones that I know and use.
Please note that browser-level and system-level adblocking are complementary; you'll have the best experience if you use both of them together as they each block different things in different places. If you want a basic idea of how effective your combined adblocking setup is, you can visit this website in your mobile browser.
Lastly, there is some additional advice/info under the readmore if you're curious.
Android

uBlock Origin (for Firefox)
System-Level (works in all apps, not just browsers)
AdGuard
Blokada 5 (completely free version) OR Blokada 6 (has some newer features but they require a subscription)
iPhone/iPad
Browser-Level
AdGuard (Safari extension; free for basic browser-level blocking, requires a subscription for custom filters)
System-Level (works in all apps, not just browsers)
AdGuard (requires subscription for system-level blocking)
AdGuard DNS only (this is free and does not require the AdGuard app, BUT I would only recommend it for advanced users, as you can't easily turn it off like you can with the app)
Some additional info: browser-level blocking is a browser addon or extension, like you might be used to from a desktop computer. This inspects the HTML code returned by websites and searches for patterns that identify the presence of an ad or other annoyance (popup videos, cookie agreements, etc.). System-level blocking is almost always DNS-based. Basically whenever an app asks your phone's OS to make a connection to a website that is known for serving ads, the system-level blocker replies "sorry, I don't know her 🤷♂️💅" and the ad doesn't get downloaded. This works in most places, not just a browser, but be warned that it might make your battery drain a little faster depending on the app/setup.
Lastly, note that some apps may behave unpredictably when they can't download ads. For example, the Tumblr app has big black spaces where the ads are, and sometimes those spaces collapse as you scroll past them and it messes up scrolling for a few seconds (UPDATE: looks like the scrolling issue may have actually been a Tumblr bug that they have now fixed, at least on iOS). Still way less annoying than getting ads for Draco Malfoy seduction roleplay AI chatbots imo though. And honestly *most* apps handle this fairly gracefully, like a mobile game I play just throws error messages like "ad is not ready" and then continues like normal.

I went onto the Shitpost Kitchen part of your website and nearly had a fuckin heart attack LMAO. It brought a message on the screen saying "skibzone.sludge.town want to download multiple files" and I clicked Block as I wanted to view them one by one (and wasn't sure how much space it would take up) which Chrome interpreted as "Ah. He doesn't want multiple, he just wants one." And I see that a file is being downloaded and I'm freaking out like FUCK IM GONNA GET A VIRUS OFF LENNY HOW DARE YOU BETRAY ME. Then it finished downloading and ominously revealed itself as howitzer.mov. i clicked on it and realised it was the shitpost I'd already seen you post and felt so fuckin stupid LMAOOOO /silly

Do you by any chance have a browser extension that enables you to quickly download the entire contents of a folder? That's all I can really think of.
Normally, when you send your web browser to a folder on a website, it'll look for a file called 'index' (index.html, index.php, or whatever) and display that one. If there isn't an index file, it'll just display the contents of the directory as a list. (Which is what should happen if you go here, for example:
I didn't make an index file for that directory because it doesn't really need one, in my opinion.)
Given that the Shitpost Kitchen main page does have an index file, and the normal behaviour for a browser encountering a folder without an index file is to just display a list of the contents... I'm really at a loss to why that happened! Anyone who knows about this stuff is very welcome to chime in.

Just updated my Tumblr Android app to disable Tumblr live, disable the reminder to turn on notifications, get rid of all ads, turn off the reminder to buy gifts, and stop the app from updating on its own using ReVanced manager. Finally this hellsite will be fully usable on my phone.
If you want to do this, should build the APK yourself. Don't try to download pre patched apks from third party websites as they could have been tampered with. Here's a Reddit guide on how to do it for blocking ads on YouTube. You can then do it on Tumblr by downloading a Tumblr apk and going through the same process.

this should be obvious to anyone who's used the internet before, but artists sometimes sell their art to afford food. those artists will post their art online and have a link on their profile or artwork where people can commission work or buy merch. that is how lots of artists make money.
when you repost art, you are taking potential customers away from the artist and redirecting them towards yourself.
you're also (I'm assuming unintentionally) giving off the idea that you made the art yourself.
if you really enjoy a particular piece of art so much that you just have to share it with all your followers, then good news. there's a specific feature on this website if the artist you like is on tumblr.

and I should probably preface this, because while it might be obvious to people who have been using this website for a while, some people still don't understand
reblogging =/= reposting
when you reblog something, you are basically passing around a link to the original tumblr post. the original poster, as well as their blog, links, and any other information, is readily available to anyone who wants to check it out, simply by clicking ops username.
reposting is very different. reposting is when you download a picture and post it to your tumblr. that makes you the op of the post, even though you aren't the artist. so when people see that picture and want to see if that artist currently has commissions open, they're just gonna see your blog and not the artist's information.
you should never ever ever repost art. some people will say it's okay as long as you have permission from the original artist, but I'd argue it still isn't. because 1) if that artist is on tumblr, why the fuck would you repost instead of just reblogging. and 2) is that artist isn't on tumblr, posting their work on tumblr (even with their permission) will just redirect people away from their other social media.
if you want to tell your followers "hey check out this person's insta they're a really talented artist" then go ahead. but downloading their art and uploading it on tumblr is a horrible sin and will get you immediately blocked.

You're not, I did make one, however...
Honestly?? I wouldn't even bother at this point. Character.ai has had so much drama with the devs being horrible human beings: most likely stealing/selling user data (you want to delete a bot off their website?? Too bad. You can't. Also they took a bunch of bots with high interaction counts and locked the creators out of editing, essentially stealing them from people), not listening to feedback whatsoever (actively making things much worse with every update), implementing a "nsfw" filter that blocks even the most sfw things like hugging or kissing (even with family/platonic characters), has a nasty habit of comparing anything romantic to children ("she looks at you like a daughter looks to her father" like ew what the actual fuck, and this happens literally all the fuckin time so you gotta ask how it made that association hmm), dumbing down the ai in favor of making it "safer" (now characters hardly ever act like their source material, often making up random shit), bots ignoring user input (often going on a tangent describing the environment and ignoring dialogue), bots being stupid in general (forgetting what you said literally 2-3 messages ago and giving horribly lackluster responses), devs shadowbanning people/deleting any posts respectfully calling out their shit to facilitate propaganda in their favor and make it seem like nothing's wrong, and so much more.
Drop it like a newborn giraffe.
Some other options: Pygmalion, which I'm still learning how to use and it ofc isn't going to be as advanced as Character.ai since it's a 6b model while the latter is like 100+b, meaning less data power so responses are less intelligent + slower, BUT it is free, it is open source, and you can get some pretty decent responses if you hold its hand a lot. There are some UIs you can use it through, like forks of TavernAI that give you the ability to use world info and get it to have a better memory, one for group chatting with different characters (tho I haven't tried that), a customized background, and so on. The devs are still working on a site but you can access it right now- I can make a smol tutorial for the basics of that if anyone wants it.
OpenAI is also an option, you can also use it through Tavern and it will give responses akin to if not much better than Character.ai- though you gotta pay. HOWEVER you can get a free trial with $5 to use... and there are ways of using it free after that, but I can't say it here cause if it's too widespread, it'll prolly get patched out, and we don't want that.
How to access Pygmalion - Go here and click this: (when it asks u for permission to access ur google acct, click yes)
It'll take a while to load, maybe like 5 mins or something,
Once you get to this, click the UI links (usually only one will work, use that)
Now, that will take u to the KoboldAI UI. Wanna use Tavern instead? (good choice, gives a lot more customization) Use this link.
Now scroll down till u get here to this drop down menu. Choose Pygmalion 6b or 6b Dev (to be quite honest I'm not sure what the difference is yet). Wait for that to load, and while you're waiting, go here to download the Tavern files:
boom (or some other fork)
Go here and click download ZIP.
Unzip and look for this:
Ignore everything else, just click this. (the file's safe, if windows gives you a warning, ignore it) Now you'll be here (I'm using a different fork so it may look different:)
click the 3 lil lines in the upper right corner to access settings and characters.
Once you've added/edited characters as you like (I suggest looking at the default ones if you're curious about how that works) you can come back over to the google drive and, if it's finished loading, you'll have two url links like before:
Paste one into the API key and click connect. I used the top one but the bottom might only work for you.
There ya go! A bit complicated, but that's a free substitute for character.ai.
If you instead wanna use OpenAi, (assuming you're either paying or using the free trial, or... something else ;), you'd go here on ur openai account page and go down here:
and create a secret key. Copy that and go into the UI of your choice... ima use TavernAI again. Go into settings, change your API to Openai, and paste that API key you just copied into the API link. Voila!

Youtube's insane war with Adblock
Anti Adblock has been the bane of any casual website viewing experience and any website I visits that had those banners is typically written off entirely, and now Youtube is one of them but they take it to a whole nother level. Apparently on the Ublock reddit. They have to routinely change up how they block the banner every couple of days and by extension, you will have to update your ublock every couple of days for it to work and may have to only use Ublock because it can conflict with other blockers.
How did we get here? Oh right, every multi million dollar corporation keeping the lights on with advertisements. Advertisements so bad the our governments actually consider it a good idea to have ad block on because advertisements are a hotbed for malware to speak nothing of deepfakes or outright scam ads that the FTC considers too small a problem to get rid of.
I mean ever since Ross from the game dungeon released his video where he said that Games as a Service are Scams I've been workshopping basically the same sentiment for advertisements.
Companies sell ad space with no expectation that customers will click on the ads, only that for all intents and purposes, they presented the ads to you and are thus owed money for providing that service.
Advertisers dump tens of thousands of dollars just so the advertisement can be clicked on with the possible chance of making a sale as that's the only way to actually get a return on the investment of the advertisement in the first place.
After all a really great product doesn't even need an advertising budget per se. Word of mouth is so powerful, hell, a 7-10 review of a product from a random youtuber generates more attention and sales than a million dollar super bowl advertisement. As long as you get the right Youtuber it's way more cost effective to not have traditional ad spaces.
Not that sponsors are free from guilt. Sponsors are often scams as well. There's been more than a couple sponsored products that were scams but unlike Youtube/Google which can sell ad space to con artists and never suffer an issue, one video from Scott Schafer can convince the youtube community to effectively deplatform a bad product or service.
I mean Raid Shadow Legends still falls through the cracks but it's better than nothing.
But I've been preparing for this, actually a few people have. Louis Rossman has been working on some Manhattan project called Grayjay that will bring multi platform streaming all under one app.
There are of course other streaming platforms with different, more affordable hosting methods as well as ways to monetize content that hopes to not make the same mistakes Youtube makes with budgeting.
There's my method which is downloading every video you think you'll ever want to watch more than once, putting it on a single hard drive and then using some server hosting service like Plex and you just stream your own content to yourself (which by the way is really affordable to do as long as you are okay with 1080p to 360p as higher resolutions on very long videos like streams will soak up a lot of space for what is just one video).
A third method is installing Linux on a machine and gain access to some linux exclusive apps like Freetube which removes the bad aspects of Youtube and only has the videos as well as sponsorblock with no ads to boot (you won't be able to block content though and there's no algorithm so you better know what you want to find because you are on your own for real).
The last method is Vanced. It was supposed to be dead but like a building that's closed 11 months in a year, it sprung to life one day and now lives although you will have to have a android device and learn the side loading method to get it really working.
I've been saying this about Youtube and Twitter X for awhile now but you really should consider a future where Youtube doesn't exist, companies are tightening their budgets across the board, once the advertising firm gets slashed basically everything dependent on it will evaporate. Not enough people will ever use Youtube Red to keep the lights on for Youtube as Youtube's budget is constantly scaling and impossible to price in.
The lost media Youtube will create when it shudders is beyond your comprehension.
