✧ when you arrived back to his shelter in Dragonspine, he noticed something was off. he had sent you into Mondstadt so retrieve some items for his experiments. of course, he knew you weren’t one of his assistants but you always insisted on helping with whatever he needed, so he sometimes takes advantage of your kindness to save himself the trip. this time however, you came back with a certain mood surrounding you. before you left you gave him a big kiss on the cheek before setting out with a happy smile, but now that smile is gone. he asked you what was wrong, but dropped it when you replied with a simple "nothing." he wasn’t completely in tune with his own emotions, let alone someone else’s so he sort of assumed he was overthinking and there really was nothing wrong. after a handful of hours passed by, he was painfully aware of your distant mannerisms. he obviously pestered you, he was sure that there was something the matter. once you told him that some people in town had some nasty things about you, he understood immediately. he knew as a boyfriend he was to stay and comfort you, so that’s exactly what he did. wrapped you in a blanket to shield you from the cold air and leaned you against him. the two of you sat in silence as you let yourself rid the negative thoughts and instead focus on albedo, the man who loves you.

To start off, I’m such a big fan of your writing! I genuinely look forward to every single update of yours and find myself rereading a lot of work in the downtime. You are such a good writer!! My never ending praises aside, here are some asks!
-You incorporate OC’s into your fics so seamlessly! They feel so natural in your fics that I legit get excited anytime they show up (srsly can’t wait for Lou Jitsu vs Hidden City, Sal’s my boy) lol how do you find the right balance when introducing and maintaining OC’s in your fics? I feel like that’s a particularly difficult balance beam to tread but you absolutely crush it.
-A previous ask you answered about Cass and Raph in LSoW got me thinking; how do the brothers handle humans crushing on them? Would they be receptive or dismissive? Do they develop crushes on humans- and if so, how is that perceived (by family or the general public)? The drama 👀

(Okay I got carried away answering this so sorry in advance.)
On OC's:
I got a lot of comments on LSoW from people who say "generally I don't like OC's BUT-" which is so funny and flattering. Because I am absolutely one of those people who don't care for OC's in fic.
Let me be clear: I LOVE that people write self indulgent self-insert of OC based fic, where they make the craziest off the wall story etc. Every time a fifteen year old writes a story about the cringiest Mary-sue/stu self insert, or non canon character, an angel gets its wings and I mean that one hundred percent. It makes me so happy I literally grin when I see it. I HOWEVER generally filter out the OC tags on AO3 when I'm looking for something to read myself.
So when I started posting LSoW I was expecting to get maybe like, 100 kudos MAX, maybe one comment or so. Which is great! I love writing niche fic just for me, and one other person who I assume I must be drift compatible with. I just could not figure out a way to write the story I wanted without a few OC's- Rise didn't have a big enough character catalog for me to draw from!
When I went to write the OC's, I knew that they had to have a very simple backstory, that was also very fleshed out. (Xander and Sal have full family, Dr. Heo and Carter have full jobs and history together, etc.) For another contradiction I wanted them to be interesting enough that someone reading wouldn't just be skipping ahead to when they weren't present, or just simply plowing through to get past the part where they were doing exposition. They had to be enjoyable! While also forwarding the story!
They also had to be distinct. Anyone who's ever watched a Whedon show or movie (Buffy, Firefly, Avengers-) knows what I'm talking about. It drives me nuts when the characters in a show are constantly the funniest person in the room, with the same personality traits, and the same girl boss/badass tendencies.
(Fandom challenge Impossible: Give a female fan favorite character another trait besides 'girlboss/mom/lesbian'. I'm dead serious.)
(Also a disclaimer: I LOVE making jokes and doing bits. I FANCY that I'm pretty funny, and I love making people laugh. But you can do that without making it a character personality trait. For example: Xander doesn't really crack any jokes in LSoW! He's just funny because we the reader know more about the situation and his thoughts than he does.)
But the BIGGEST THING I kept telling myself while writing the story, was DO NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE TURTLES. Because the whole point of the story is the turtles! And Yoshi! The OC's are there to facilitate that. It's a hard balance to hit. I have all sorts of touchstones I keep in mind while I'm writing, and that's a big one.
(A SUPER good example of this done super well is @faiakishi 's Bella from Dawning of the Hour. She's a great OC that's super interesting, and a super important narrative element, but she never detracts from the main story. Big Bella fan here lmao. There's also the rest of the OC's/interpretations of franchise characters (TIGERCLAW), but Bella stands out as truly original.)
On the Turtles dating Humans:
(CW: CSA mention, SA mention, non graphic talk of minors dating etc.)
I actually talked a lot about this to @/tangledinink in feverish discord chats lmao.
When the boys were growing up they got a very detailed talk from both Yoshi, and their Doctors. ONE: Because nobody will know better than themselves if something was medically wrong with their bodies, TWO: The boys are all intersex (minus Mikey) and they had to understand that there was nothing wrong with them on TOP of the turtle thing, and THREE: Because Yoshi knew the boys would be getting a lot of attention, and you never know what kind of attention that form will take.
THE BEST WAY to protect children (any child) from being sexually assaulted or abused, is making sure they know what that abuse LOOKS LIKE. You don't have to make them terrified of being sexually assaulted, but them knowing how their body works, and also how to say NO and set boundaries, will combine to help make them safer.
Yoshi didn't know what would happen in the future and in a perfect world the boys would never leave his line of sight, but that's not always how things happen. (In a Short Season, Xander parroted Yoshi's instructions before going out to make sure the boys knew what to do if someone grabbed them (in any way) and it was to bite and be loud.) So the boys grew up knowing their bodies, knowing how to say 'no', and knowing that there was probably going to be people out there who would treat them as a novelty, and who wouldn't be appropriate to them as celebrities OR non-humans.
(Remember Emma Watson having to deal with that countdown to her turning 18? Or any other amount of child stars who had to deal with adults being predatory to them.)
But ALSO THIS IS HAMATO YOSHI. His sons are HANDSOME and HEARTBREAKERS! Leo has dated a lot but never anything seriously, and his inability to be intimate with anyone but family kind of puts a damper on any more permanent relationship. (He is gay.) He's the number one turtle people ask out because he's the most approachable. Because he made himself that way!
Donnie is in a sort of relationship with Kendra. (THIS WILL BE A FIC I'm working up to it lmao.) I have a head canon that Yokai and other empyrean based creatures are capable of having rivalry based relationships. IE Yoshi and Draxum in the canon show, the unhealthy dynamic between Yoshi and Big Mama, etc. (Caliginous relationship) Donnie is in a puppy love version of that with Kendra, while also lacking the context of yokai society to understand why he wants to punch her very badly, but also if anything happened to her he would die. They hate each others guts and also she was his first kiss. She is not a nice person I am not a Kendra apologist she's terrible I love her. (Donnie is bi!)
I know a lot of people head canon Mikey as ace, but he is a thirteen year old child you don't have to be head canoning him as anything. it is the very rare 13 year old who knows their orientation, and even if they DO I bet you donuts to dollars it will change eventually. This is normal and healthy. Mikey in LSoW has had puppy crushes on boys, girls, teachers, Violet, the mailman, Adam, and Rupert Swaggert. (Eugh eugh eugh.)
Raph is absolutely irresistible to the entire student body and is completely unaware of it. He's not stupid but he's face blind and bad at picking up subtext in conversations. He's gone to multiple people's houses and spent the whole day with them, without realizing they were trying to make it a date. (Raph is bi.)
All the boys have considered identifying as girls since their Dad is the martial arts equivalent of David Bowie and Fine With That, but have settled (for now) on being boys (age 10 the last time they considered this) because quote 'Lou Jitsu and Jupiter Jim are boys and they're awesome' unquote.
They don't get any fucking privacy for their relationships, and Leo in particular had a very bad experience that closed him off from dating big time. (Stamps 'THIS WILL BE A FIC' on this as well.) But also, as of the LSoW canon they are like, 12-14 and not doing a lot of dating ANYWAY. They are BABIES.

ON CROSSOVERS:
I have one crossover with my white whale of authors (you know who you are) I have pecked at with them that I think everyone will go fucking nuts for and love, but I won't mention it in case we can't get it off the ground! (A completely okay and normal thing to happen lmao.) I think that one will end up happening though because I am too excited about it, even if it's not any time soon.
I am super open to crossovers and cowriting, especially since writing with Li because I learned SO MUCH it was like speed running improvement.
The thing is it has to fit! There's some crossovers that wouldn't have a lot of substance because there's not really a lot to cover. When it came to EiL for example, there was PLENTY to cover and do, it was so fun! But other fics might not have a lot we could do for each other. (At least, not until I get some more world building done.)
That being said I do love talking crossovers with other creators it's so fun...

It’s just perfection. I mean. A real proposal here wouldn’t have worked, and would have somehow destroyed the whole dynamic PrapaiSky made their own. But this? This is them. 100%. Prapai not rushing into things, giving Sky a headup and a security at the same time. ‘I won’t go anywhere. It will always be you for me’. And isn’t that extremely beautiful? Are there any words expressing a deep seated love better than this? I highly doubt it. It’s simply perfect.
And can we talk about Sky’s smile? The ease? The trust, the LOVE we see there? Amazing.

TRUTH SCENE
I’m not even close of being capable to express the whole scene as good as @bird-inacage, so please read this post if you wanna go into the feels.
For me, personal, this scene means a lot. On a ’funny’ sidenote, Fort’s acting as Prapai single handedly got me out of my own trauma I was wallowing in since seven years. No joke.
It’s the quiet reassurance, the ‘I am here, I am hearing you out, I am not judging you badly for what happened to you, or how you think badly about yourself’. It just got me.
The tears that rolled down Prapai’s face? The pain he was going through knowing what Sky went through? Intense.
The acting was intense. The scene was intense. The wounds it had reopened in myself were intense. But also the healing, the way you saw Sky healing just a tad bit. The “Can I love you?” - because let’s be real. This is THE fear if you ever got burned badly.
I could ramble about that scene for hours.

RESCUE SCENE

For several reasons that scene got to me. I might or might not have re-watched it several times just to see if it still triggers me or if I managed to heal.
I saw myself in Sky SO MUCH it was almost scary (Peat is a hell of an actor. Can we award him?). Not gonna go into detail bc I suspect no one’s ever wants to hear that. So just lemme say the way Prapai reacted was superb. In all those years I always wished for such a reaction, and seeing it on screen did a number on me.
It’s refreshing to see that there is this tiny possibility of hope for finding care in such moments.

I've noticed you tend to post about how you are not a big fan of the heartstopper show and its casting and I was wondering if you could give some insight into why you don't like the show very much? Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions but I was just wondering? Wanting to see your pov on this. Not trying to send hate whatsoever!! 💜
Well personally I feel like the show kinda watered down the characters… Charlie specifically. In the comic Charlie is very confident and pretty popular guy- not like nick Nelson popular but he’s well liked yk? But in the show he seems to sorta get more put down by Harry and his friends.. I wish we saw Charlie sticking up for himself rather than tao do it for him.
UGH SPEAKING OF TAO. literally what happened?? In the comic he seems pretty protective over his friends but in the show BRO IS OBSESSED.. Like I get your gay friend has fallen for a "straight guy" but that’s none of your business!! Also assuming ppls sexualities but ur the token straight ally?? Right… also he blames Charlie at the end for what happened with Harry as if he wasn’t the one creating more drama. Overall I HATEE show tao. I also DIDNT appreciate the fact that elle outed nick.. like girl.
The only characters I actually enjoyed were tara, Darcy, tori and the teacher. Even I was disappointed with Nick.. like the show allowed a whole ass slur but not a "happy fucking birthday." ??? What the fuck??? Nick just seem more soft in the show and I didn’t like it.
moving on to the casting… Nick is fat, kit Connor is not.. Charlie and tori are Spanish and well, jenny and Joe are pale ASFF!! (And yes ik Spain is very diverse but this isn’t the point of this post) And ppl always hate when I bring this up but idc. YES IK THEM BEING SPANISH ISNT A BIG DEAL IN HEARTSTOPPER BUT ITS STILL PART OF THEIR CHARACTERS!!/!/!/$:$
Anyway… um. Joe locke and Charlie do NOT look alike like whatsoever. Jenny is a little bit better but why would they srsly cast a grown woman in her late 20’s to play a young 15 yr old teenage girl.. this is not the 2000’s we don’t need 30 year olds playing teens anymore thanks! Back to nick, like I said nick is fat. He’s a chubby man. Yet he’s played by a kinda skinny-buff guy.. ik kit is like making it up by working out to gain weight but now nick nelson is gonna be a buff guy. Which in the comic he is buff ik that but he’s also chubbyyy!!!!

Just discovered ur acc today & all I can say is WHERE ON M87 HAVE U BEEN WHILE I WAS STARVED FOR TAROTRE CONTENT?!?! I s swear the best part abt being in this fandom is when we discover others like you.
Saw this post of yours & rewatched Ultraman Taiga and wow, seeing how similar Taiga is to so many who were considered 'prodigies' in an academic setting only to get their asses handed to them by real life (TM) srsly hit close to home.
It also got me thinking. I joke (& personally hc) that Taiga is Tarotre's child of divorce. Which brought me to: what if Taro never compared Taiga to himself, knowing so many were doing the same & instead unintentionally compared Taiga to Tregear?
Did Taro struggle whenever Taiga asked him for help with more advanced homework? Did both of them cringe when they couldn't find a way to explain a new concept in a manner both could understand? Did Taiga burn himself out studying only to realize how little the syllabus prepared him for real Earth fights?
(Sorry if this sounds a little all over the place. Just rlly excited to find another English-speaking Ultra fan xP)

Also absolutely agree that Taiga is TaroTre’s child of divorce! I think if I remember correctly in episode 0 of Taiga, Taro does unintentionally compare Taiga to Tregear saying, “If your heart is weak, you will fall into darkness. Just like Belial, and just like my friend…” and those parallels between Taiga and Tregear haunt the entire rest of the show. It’s so delicious to be honest.
As for the last part, I could definetly see Taiga burning himself out in an attempt to be recognized as his own person in an academic setting rather than as just Taro’s son. He’s so desperate for praise it hurts. That said, despite him being the top cadet, it’s very clear he doesn’t have a lot of actual fighting experience as evidenced by when Taro throws his cape at Taiga and he doesn’t know what to do.
I could also definitely see a generational gap when it comes to how Taro and Taiga look at Taiga’s homework. I like to hc that Taro’s generation of IGDF ultras got a lot more practical experience right off the bat because there were less of them to protect humanity, meanwhile Taiga’s generation is trained more thoroughly at the cost that they don’t have as much real world battle experience because their teachers are probably not gonna go back to hitting people with cars to train them DKSKSK. Taro would try to help Taiga answer a test question about ultra rings and get confused.

the whole lyrics of the song pretty much explains how lihan feels towards hobie like there’s not much to really talk about ig ?? but actually ☝️🤓 if yall want a better description of the situation,
the whole scene takes place in HQ (wasn’t it obvious) and it’s one of lihan’s routine to sit at a random table with her morning coffee and just watch other spider people passing by, spending her afternoon in peace.
after a while being part of the SS, she starts to get along better with other people, meaning getting along with him.
she’s conscious of how she behaves around him and how she feels towards him. she’s not so obvious with it since she’s an expert at hiding her emotions and she’s definitely not the type to tell ANYBODY that she has a crush on someone in general (nor does she know how to express herself)
bUT she guessed that he probably already caught her many times being all flustered, clumsy and annoyed by his teasing and that he pretends to be clueless about it (which is true) since she’s just really silly and sometimes gets nervous around him AUAUAU ☹️
anw she then spots him being surrounded by people, seeing how everyone looks at him with sparks in their eyes, their gaze filled with admiration and intimidation.
and in that moment, she starts to feel a strange feeling she’s felt once before. she hates it because she exactly knows why others looks at him that way.
i mentionned on my previous post that lihan has always been envious of her brother.
that’s how she feels towards hobie too.
he’s just so cool, so confident, charismatic, clever and especially honest. he’s everything that she could never be. and this reminds her so much of her brother but it’s srsly not new since she kinda saw it coming.
she also realizes how often she zones out when watching him and forgets the fact that she’s literally staring unbothered like-👁️👁️ and hobie sometimes would catch her and just stare back at her as well so they’re just staring at each other like 👁️👁️ and then she snaps out of it before turning away all flustered LMFAO idiots 😔
anw this is not what i wanted to talk about but basically while she’s zoning out, she gets reminded of one specific event (will talk about this on another post as well) that made her realize that she totally had the wrong image of him, only seeing him as annoying and as a silly guy. and it’s this part where she’s staring up at him as he’s facing his back and then looking back at her.
the fact that she’s down and staring up at him is also a way of showing that he seems to be untouchable and unattainable to her, someone she can never truly hold in her embrace, someone she can only look at from afar and appreciate their beauty, someone she can never call “mine”.
this emphasizes with the only part where there are no blue shade (it’s kind of like a flashback) where they’re just smiling at each other and their hands are almost about to touch but as you can see, only lihan’s hand moves but not hobie’s.
yall know what that means ?

it’s one sided. it’s not reciprocal.
but who knows what he feels towards her ? right ? as she’s walking away, hobie reaches his hand out to stop her, to hold back and maybe catch something that’s more important than he thought, slipping out of his hand.

that’s exactly why their relationship is a unrequited love (i have a very serious problem with this trope)
and thus she knows. she knew from the beginning as soon as she sensed that she started feeling something stronger towards him.
she sensed the tension between them and that whatever they had and whatever it was, it could never happen.
she didn’t even had expectations in the first place. she never even imagined she’d fall for someone like him. and even though it’s hard for her to even believe this truth,
she loves him.
so dearly and wholeheartedly.
and she doesn’t want to love him just for the hope to become something more than what they are. she’s satisfied with what she has and she’s simply grateful to have him around.

even though it does make her sad that they’ll probably not (unless 👀) be more, what truly agonizes her the most is that until the end, she’ll never have the guts to reach her hand out to hold his.

I don't like a lot of you either. I'd have been over this fandom ages ago if I wasn't into making dubious translations of Asian art. It's not like I'd want to go diving head first into My Hero Academia either, as it's mostly a bunch of kids. I suppose Erasurehead x Present Mike is appealing in the 'opposites attract' sort of way, but I'm not into Endeavor x Hawks because the former is too much of an alpha male. A main plot point was how Endeavor got into an arranged marriage with a once influential family that was struggling. They sold their daughter to Endeavor so he could selectively breed perfect superhero babies.
Endeavor: *taps watch* My recovery time is twenty minutes. That's how often you are getting bred until that baby sticks. After that, we could go once an hour for fun. (My goddamn #1 hero)
Anyway, nobody has yet to answer my question about why it's acceptable in fandom to be a shitting dick nipple fkn furry into a million stupid fetishes, yet a lot of those people still have the gall to have a 'Proshippers DNI' on their pages. Why is it okay to cherry pick the two things? (Pedophilia/Incest) but it's okay to belong to a group of people (furries) who are overrepresented in irl cases of sexual abuse? Why is one sort of weirdo more socially acceptable than another?
Side note: A lot of furries I've encountered are into belly kink. You know how they are always saying yaoi is offensive to irl gay men because woman pidgeonhole gay men into heteronormative female fantasies? Well, first of all, fuck gay men and men in general. It's part of male privilege that all biological males -whether straight gay or trans- have this attitude like their feelings are of utmost importance, and that they should be allowed to regulate what we do. Where was I....so belly kink is a very heteronormative feminine fantasy. It's a very female fantasy to want to see a feminine looking person being comforted by their masculine partner when they are suffering with a huge swollen pregnant looking belly. I can see the appeal of it if the person with the fat belly is pretty looking, like the Dabiten ship. It's yet another side effect of our fossil fuel driven glut where too many people have amygdales not functioning correctly which causes dysfunction with dopamine regulation. A person with a healthy sense of their own mortality would be repulsed by pregnant trans male figures because of the potential of getting a really messed up baby.
Seriously, doctors are supposed to experiment on animals before moving to humans. How many female animals were pumped with male hormones then made pregnant? Have there been a lot of studies done on what unnatural male hormones might do to a developing baby in the womb? -Or are we in the midst of ongoing legal experimentation on humans?
