AITA for scamming my ex out of an extremely valuable virtual pet?
🐓🥤to recognize. This might be a very long post with a lot of added context for a very niche hobby and a very small actual conflict.
I religiously play a virtual pet site called Chicken Smoothie. It's a pretty old site as far as virtual pet games go, starting back in 2008, so there is a pretty solid established site economy. Just for some context, Every pet on the site has a rarity, ranging from "OMG So Common" to "OMG So Rare", being the most common and most rare respectively. But there are rarities within those rarities, where some OMGSRs can be worth more than others based on species and demand. For example, an OMGSR dog from 2008 will be worth more than an OMGSR rat from 2008 despite being the same highest rarity and year, because people prefer the dogs over rats. These pets can get extremely valuable. You can't sell them for real money (according to site rules, but of course there's a black market), but the site has its own virtual currency you can buy (with real money) and trade for called Chicken Dollars, and you can also trade a valuable pet for other valuable pets. It gets very complicated, with the community coming up with its own set of value terms each pet can have. I'm not getting into specifics there, that's not important.
Every year, on December 18th, CS has gift boxes you can adopt from. These gift boxes can contain any rare pet from any previous year, including special "Unreleased pets" that you can only get from these Dec 18th boxes, with a very slim chance. These unreleased pets are some of the most valuable and rarest in the game.
Recently, I had seen my ex posting on the forums. I didn't know he had an account, he had made it within this year, long after I got the fuck away from him, and I only knew it was him because he uses the same username everywhere. This person had groomed me, physically abused me when we were together (we no longer live anywhere near each other, thankfully) and has always been emotionally manipulative. He does not know I play, and he wouldn't recognize my account as me. I took a note of his account and left it be for a while, until December 18th hit and I took a peek at what he had got. And what he got was one of the new Unreleased pets, which currently at the time of writing this only looks like a box of cereal. (Most pets on the site have growth stages.) And even better, all his groups were open for trade, so I took a chance and sent an extremely terrible trade. I told him that this pet would only be a recent rare, and I offered him a "Very Rare" rarity (but not very valuable) pet from 2018, telling him I was overpaying. (In the CS community, this is known as Ninjaing, and it's Not A Good Thing To Do). I didn't expect him to accept it, I at least thought he'd be smart enough to ask in the trade advice thread that is literally pinned on the home page for December 18th, but he didn't. He took my word for it and accepted the trade, and now I own an unreleased pet that will eventually end up as an OMGSR.
What I did was not a bannable offence. He will not get his unreleased pet back. The CS mods are laughable at worst, incompetent at best, and don't do anything to stop scamming. They have an "eh, sucks to be you, sorry, be smarter next time" mentality when people get scammed (Which is insane because there are literal single digit aged children allowed on this site!!!)
After taking a bit to think about it, I do feel a bit guilty because I really would not do this in any other circumstances. I hate scamming. I did what I did out of anger and contempt, and I do feel a bit guilty because in essence, I scammed a new player that didn't have much else and didn't know any better.
I'm still keeping that unreleased cereal box no matter what though
What are these acronyms?

December 11th (Continued)
Airielle stood to the side and waited for her cue to cut off Kevin Owens as he walked backstage from his interaction with Josh. She nodded once Ryan- the director of the segment gave her a little shove towards Kevin, who was walking her way.
“Kevin, hey Kevin!” She called out rushing towards his side. “Can I have a word?”
“No, have you seen Roman? Airielle shook her head.
“Do you know what he said about my family last week? Huh!? You think I wanted to do that to Jey Uso?! NO!- You don’t talk about my family and now I did that to his family and that’s on Roman- '' Kevin was cut off by Airielle’s scream as Roman came and attacked Kevin from behind.  Airielle quickly got out of the way so she wouldn’t get hurt.  After hearing the director yell cut, Airielle walked back over to thank Ryan for letting her do the segment.
“Wassup Airi.” After Paul had walked away Joe came and stood next to her.
“Hey Joe,” She said, smiling at him.
“I talked to Yas.” Airielle’s smiled disappeared and she rolled her eyes. “She’s just wants to make sure you ok”
“I knew I should’ve never called her.”  Joe laughed and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Nah, she just looking out for you, she’s very protective of you.” Airielle sighed and nodded her head.
“Too protective, I told her I was fine and I had it under control.”
“I’m the same way with Jon and Josh too, us older cousins gotta protect our youngins in the family” Airielle rolled her eyes again.
“It’s nothing to be protected against though.” She said as they started walking toward Joe’s locker room, where Josh was waiting for her. “It’s not that big of a deal.” She added with a shrug.
“I mean, on the walk over to film I've heard ya name at least five times.” Airielle sucked her teeth. “But,” Joe shrugged and stopped her from opening the door to his locker room. “I’m not saying this because he’s my cousin and I love him.” He waited until she nodded to continue. “That shit with Kayla happened one time and I only know that because Josh can’t keep his mouth shut.”
“Yeah, I know. We talked about all that already.” Joe nodded with a small grin on his face.
“Alright then.” He said opening the door for her and letting her walk in first.
Josh looked over at them when the door opened and immediately stood up and walked over to Airielle.
“You aight? What happened?” She nodded and told him about her run in with Kayla and the ladies from hair and make-up, the scowl on his face getting deeper and deeper as she continued her story.
“Man, shit wasn’t even like that. You want me to talk to her?” He asked, leading her over to the couch so they could sit down. She sighed and plopped down next to him, snuggling into his side.
“No, Like I told Joe and Yasmine, it’s not that big of a deal. I’m not even worried about it.”
“You sure, I gotta make sure nobody fuckin’ wit’ my girl.” Josh flipped Joe off when he made a fake gagging nose, before walking into the bathroom, to give them privacy.
“Did I stutter?” He asked before leaning down and capturing her lips with his. She reached her hand up to cup his jaw as his tongue slipped into her mouth, both of them letting out a moan.
“Ok, we get it.” Joe said, causing them to break apart. “Can y’all not do that. Some of us are lonely as fuck.” Airielle and Josh rolled their as at him. “I was about to invite you to ride with us back to Pensacola, but not if that’s gonna happen.” Josh sucked his teeth and flipped Joe off.
“Ignore him, you wanna ride back with us? I was gonna ask but I got distracted.” He flipped Joe off again when he snorted. Airielle laughed at their antics and agreed to ride on Joe’s bus back to Pensacola with them.

CHRISTMAS DAY 2020
Airielle bit her bottom lip as she stared at the clothes in her closet. She was meeting Josh’s family for the first time and she wanted to impress them. They had decided to spend a couple hours with his family and then go to her parents house. And she was terrified, Josh would be the first person she brought home to meet her parents in years.
The only upside was that Trinity would be with her with Josh and Jon’s family and Yasmine would be with her with their family.
“You are stressing for no reason.” Airielle said nothing as Yasmine came over and stood next to her. “Just pick something.” Airielle scowled over at Yasmine before picking out an outfit, which in her eyes it was basic as fuck, but it would have to work.

“You look terrified.” Josh laughed as he parked his car in front of his mom’s house.
“I am terrified. What if they don’t like me.”
“They gon’ love you Rih. What’s not to love?”
“Ok let me rephrase. What if your mom doesn’t like me?”  Josh chuckled and grabbed her hand, lacing a kiss on the back of it.
“It was my moms idea to invite you over for Christmas. Man, she wanted you over here for Thanksgiving. She was upset when you didn’t come”  Airielle furrowed her eyebrows.
“Seriously?”
“Yeah,” Josh chuckled again. “Everytime I talk to her she asks about you. She really wants to meet you.” Airielle looked out the passenger window at his mom’s house before letting out a shaky breath and turning back to look at him.
“Okay. I’m ready.”
Tumblr media
“Holy shit.” Airielle muttered to herself as she walked inside Josh’s mom's house. She had never seen this many people packed into a house before, there were literally people everywhere.
“Damn,” Josh said, kind of shocked too. He looked over at her when her grip on his hand tightened. “I ain’t know it was gon be this many people.” He laughed and pulled her closer to him when a couple of his little cousins rushed past them, chasing each other around. “Come on, let’s go find my momma.”
They found his mom outback sitting around the firepit with one of his aunties. She looked up when Airielle and Josh walked towards her and jumped to her feet.
“Oh my god. You came.” She said pulling Airielle into a tight hug, “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you.” Mama Fatu said, pulling away so she could look Airielle in the eyes.
“It’s nice to meet you ma’am.” Airielle said and Mama Fatu shook her head.
“None of that ma’am stuff. Call me Talisua.” Airielle smiled. “Are you hungry?” Tulisua turned her attention to Josh. “Don’t just stand there. Get the girl something to eat.” Airielle giggled at the look Josh gave his mom. “Come sit.” Talisua said, pointing to the empty chair that was now in the middle of her and Josh’s aunt.
“You are so pretty.” His aunt said and Airielle felt her face heat up at her compliment.
“Thank you.”
“So tell me about yourself. Josh told me that you are a backstage interviewer.” Airielle nodded. “How did you get into that?”  Airielle had basically gone over her whole life story, minus the parts that she would take to the grave before Josh came back with two plates that were packed with food.
“You’re only twenty-nine?” Josh’s aunt asked, perplexed. “You do know my nephew is thirty-five. That’s not too old for you?” Josh rolled his eyes as he handed Airielle one of the plates. He probably should have warned her about his nosey ass aunt.
“No, and I'll be thirty in February, so I mean. It’s not like he’s ten years older than me.” Airielle trailed off with a shrug. She never really put any thought into their age difference and it wasn’t a big gap for there to be any issues.
“Don’t worry about her.” Talisua rolled her eyes at her sister. “She’s always looking out for her nephews.” Airielle nodded understandingly.
“It’s totally fine. I’m sure my family will be worse.” She said laughing.
Tumblr media
Christmas with Josh’s family was going way better than she expected. She had met his two other brothers, Sefa and Jeremiah and their girlfriends. She had met a shit ton of his family members. She knew he had a big family but the amount of people that she met was absolutely crazy.
“Hey it’s getting late.” Josh said. “We still gotta go to your parents house.” Airielle nodded and stood up with Josh, saying their goodbyes to everyone before heading out to the car.
“See that wasn’t so bad was it?” He said, smirking over at her.
“Honestly, no. Your family is cool as hell.”
Tumblr media
“Damn, this a nice ass house.” Josh whistled as he pulled into the driveway of Airielle’s parents house.
Tumblr media
“It’s okay,” Airielle said and she took his hand so he could help her out of the car.
“Just okay?! You trippin’ this shit is huge. You grew up here?” She nodded her head.
“Yeah, it’s not my childhood home though, we moved to Pensacola when I was in the ninth grade.” He nodded his head, remembering when she told him that. “Ok. you ready?” She asked once they were at the front door.
“Yeah, I'm ready. Why you look nervous?”
“Because I am.” She whined and Josh laughed before pulling her into his arms.
“Relax, please.” She nodded before leaning up and capturing his lips with hers. Their lips moving slowly against each other. She let out a moan when his hands slid down to her ass, giving it a squeeze, before he pulled away.
“Yeah that’s not what I wanted to see when I opened the door.” Airielle jumped and turned to face her father before smiling sheepishly at him.
“Hi daddy.”

<<;Chapter 2<<
“Mornin’ sunshine!” Tommy greets his grumpy brother as he walks into his kitchen, immediately raiding the refrigerator for some food.
Joel grunts at him, taking another sip of his coffee as he watches his brother move about the room. He hadn’t seen him outside of work for a few weeks, but Joel’s truck needed a minor repair, and he’d needed a ride to work.
“...and I really think I can close that contract. Mrs. Jones loves me, and I could probably get her to agree to those upgra-”
“You got laid.”
“-upgrades. What? Why would you say that?”
Joel narrows his eyes. “Because you’re extra…chipper…When did you have time to find someone who would let you fuck them?”
“I get around.”
Joel puts down his mug and crosses his arms, watching Tommy flit about the kitchen, resuming his conversation about Mrs. Jones and moving into one about Daisy.
“Aren’t you gonna take that girl on a date yet?” Joel blurts out, cutting Tommy off mid-sentence.
“Who? Oh, Daisy? Nah, we’re just friends.”
Joel looks at him. “Yeah, friends who keep the condom companies in business.”
Tommy’s eyes snap to his brothers. “I never said we were fuckin-”
“Oh come on Tommy. Your entire body does this..shifty thing when you talk about her. Your eyes light up like she’s all that matters. And now? You have the “I fucked her” look on your face when you talk about her so don’t give me that crap.”
“I’m not supposed to tell anyone.”
“You didn’t tell me. I figured it out. But do me a favor and just ask that girl out already?”
Tommy shrugs. “I don’t know. But if it makes you happy, I’ll think about it.”
It’s been several months and our arrangement is going very well. I swear we’ve fucked on every surface of each of our homes, sometimes not even making it past a few steps in the door before we’re on the floor or up against a wall. When I asked him if he would attend a work party with me, he enthusiastically agreed, pushing me in the bathroom and bending me over the bathroom sink as I watched his face while he fucked me, those curls I love falling onto his forehead, some of them sticking to the sweat beading across his gorgeous skin. So things were going great. There was just one problem, a small one really.
I love him.
I’ll never tell him. I don’t want to risk losing him in any capacity, and if I’m being totally honest with myself, it would be really hard to go back to being just normal friends. I can’t get enough of him, his smile, his laugh, the jokes he cracks when we’re hanging out or when he’s buried deep inside of me, the touch of his skin on mine, the way his curls sometimes fall onto his face. He’s ruined me for other men and I’m totally ok with that.
But sometimes it makes me want to scream “What are you doing, Daisy?”
I do take solace in the fact that he hasn’t found someone either, whether from choice or not I don’t know. And that’s not something I want to ask myself. Not yet.
Shaking my head, I pull into the site lot where the project he’s working on is, walking up to the trailer and knocking, lunch bag in my hand.
“Come in.”
I open the door and he glances up, a smile spreading across his face when he sees me.
“Hey Daisy! I wasn’t expectin’ you.”
I hold up the bag from his favorite place. “I knew you’d be working late tonight and miss burger night so,” I shake the bag, walking up to his desk and placing it down on an unoccupied spot.
Tommy looks at me, his eyes soft when they meet mine. What is that look? Love? Nah, I’m probably projecting.
“Thank you, Daisy. That was really sweet. I didn’t expect this.”
“I brought something else.”
“Oh?”
I walk around the desk and Tommy pushes his chair back, turning it towards me as he looks up expectantly. When I drop to my knees between his legs, his eyes grow dark.
I spend the next several minutes pulling as many sounds as I can from this man, wiping my mouth when I stand.
“Hope you enjoy lunch.”
Tumblr media
“Is it ok if I invite Daisy to Sarah’s birthday party?”
Joel looks over at his brother from his side of the truck. “I don’t think so.”
Tommy furrows his brow. “Why? She’s been around a few times. Her and Sarah get along. "
“You take her on a proper date yet?”
“Who are you? Mom?”
Joel shakes his head. “I don’t want you bringing strange women around my daughter.”
“She’s not a strange woman. She’s my friend.”
“Any woman you’re fuckin’ but refuse to have an actual conversation with to define your relationship is being disrespected by you. And I’m not letting you set the example to my daughter that that’s ok to be treated that way.”
Tommy’s mouth falls open. “Hey, fuck you man. We are definied. Friends with benefits.”
Joel gives his brother a look. “You know there’s more to it than that. Any idiot can see it. Except you two, apparently.”
Tumblr media
I had to go a couple of time zones away for work, hating the time I have to spend away from Tommy. Maybe it's a good thing? We are nearly always together and we aren't even together. Officially.
The jet lag hits me hard when I get back and swear all I've done the last 2 days is sleep. On the third day, I manage to force myself from bed to take a shower and start to unpack. I have a bad habit of waiting to do that, usually from being sad the trip was over. This time, I was happy to be back so I could see Tommy, and while he did pick me up from the airport and bring me back home, he ended up leaving, demanding I get sleep and feel better. He'd dropped by a few times and brought me food, but he ended up leaving, saying he could see I was trying to stay awake when he was around and he just wanted me to rest.
I grab my toiletry bag and head into the bathroom, pulling things out of the bag and putting them away. I have a small basket under the sink where I keep my travel items. I open the door and grab it out, putting everything away. When I go to put it back, something is blocking the basket, annoying the shit out of me. I bend down to see what could possibly be blocking me from just putting my crap away. A small box of tampons had fallen from the top of the drawer set I have down there to organize other things. Rolling my eyes, I grab the box of tampons and angrily shove them where they go, pushing the basket into it’s proper spot. I close the door and stand up, stretching. Heading back into my closet, I dump the clothes from my suitcase into my laundry hamper. Even if I didn’t wear them, I’m still washing them. Shoving the suitcase in it’s storage place at the back of the closet, I close the door and sigh, glad that that was finally over.
I head to my kitchen and make a little lunch. Nothing major as I still haven’t regulated back from my trip. I’m about 7 spoonfuls into my vegetable soup when I realize something, like a puzzle piece I’d been staring at for hours that finally jumps out to slide into it’s place.
The tampons.
I shove myself back from the table and walk with purpose to my bathroom, yanking open the cabinet door and feeling around for the box of tampons. I grab it and pull it out, peering inside. Only a couple were missing, as I’d just needed a couple near the end of my last period. Which was…when exactly?
I grab my phone off it’s charger and flip to my calendar, counting back days and realize…I’m late. I’m never late. I can set my watch to my period it’s always so precise. But…I’m not even feeling sick? Aren’t you supposed to feel nauseous?
I know it’s just jet lag, but I should grab a test to officially rule it out. Just to calm my now racing mind. I mean, Tommy and I doubled up, he with condoms and me with birth control. These things are supposed to prevent this kind of….problem.
I pull on some sneakers, not even bothering to change out of the athleisure outfit I had on, and go to the closest store that would sell what I need with the least chance of me running into someone I know. I stand in the isle, staring down what feels like a hundred rows of tests, all advertising the same thing in different ways. In the end, I decide to buy 2 in case I fuck one up. I go with something called a “pink dye test” and another that just reads it out to you in plain English.
By the time I’m done reading the directions, my hands are shaking so bad. I don’t know why, as there’s no way I’m pregnant. The directions say it’s best to test first thing in the morning with your first pee of the day, but there’s no way I’m waiting for that. Somehow I manage to not pee all over the place, setting the sticks upside down in the wrappers and turning on the timer for 3 minutes. The longest 3 minutes of my life. I take the time to putter around my bathroom, absentmindedly cleaning off random things until the timer goes off. Ok, so when these say negative, I’ll give myself a few days to not be exhausted and, if I still am, I’ll make an appointment with my doctor. No big deal. Just ruling this out. I grab the one that just reads it to you, thinking this would be easier than trying to figure out of I was seeing 2 lines or 1. I take a deep breath and exhale, flipping the test over, my eyes focusing on the tiny box that would read out my fate.
PREGNANT
I laugh. I actually laugh out loud. And not quietly, more like a full body laugh, my head tipping back with the force of it. Which is probably not the most mature response, but this test is faulty. I would get the one faulty test in their lineup. I mean, it even says it’s not 100% on the box. I reach for the pink dye test, flipping it over, feeling the smile that was on my face start to falter as I look down.
||
Two lines. That…wait that can’t be right. I snatch the directions off the counter, eyes scanning for the part about reading the results. It says 2 lines means pregnant. It says some other things but I suddenly can’t focus, my eyes snapping back to the 2 little tests on the counter, 2 little sticks that are changing the entire course of my life. Assuming I want it. Do I want it? I don’t not want it. What am I saying? Do I really want to have a kid? Now? If I was going to have a kid with anyone, I’d want it to be Tommy. Fuck, what the hell am I going to tell Tommy?
He texts me a couple hours later to check on me and I tell him I’m feeling better but still tired and need a couple more days. He doesn’t question this and why should he? He says he’ll see me Friday, our weekly Netflix and chill night and I can’t say no. If I do, he’ll suspect something.
Tumblr media
“She’s alive!”
Tommy smiles at me, that ear to ear grin that I find so damned endearing as he pulls me in for a tight hug, kissing the side of my head.
“I missed you, Daisy. You feelin’ better?”
“Eh. I’m not sure.”
“Still?” He crooks his finger and tilts my jaw up, his eyes roaming over my face and I almost crack then.
“Your eyes do look…odd. You need to go to the hospital or somethin’? I can drive-”
“No. No, I’ll be ok.”
He doesn’t look convinced as I pull myself from his grip, every inch of me begging to be closer. We get the food set up and I manage to eat some, nerves killing my appetite. We settle onto the couch and he pulls me up next to him, resting his head on mine. As much as I don’t want to move, I have to tell him. It’s eating me alive and I can’t…I need him on this. I need to talk to him, my best friend.
“Hey, Tommy?”
“Mmm?”
“I need to tell you something.”
He lifts his head and pauses the movie, turning his head to give me his full attention. My eyes meet his, soft and warm, and I almost choke. It’s killing me to break this happy buzz he has going on.
“I…I don’t really know how to tell you this-”
“You found someone else?” He chuckles, but it’s nervous, like he isn’t quite sure, his eyes bouncing between mine.
“What? No, never.”
“Phew! Well then, darlin’, anythin’ else you have to say can’t be bad.”
“It’s big.”
“So am I.” He waggles his eyebrows and I punch his arm.
“I’m trying to be serious, Tommy.”
“Alright, alright. I’m sorry.” He pretends to lock his lips and hand me the key, his big eyes settling on mine.
I take a deep breath. It’s now or never.
“I’m p-pregnant.”
Tommy laughs, his body shaking with it, his head tilting back with it, very similar to my initial response and I can’t help the soft smile that appears on my face for a second or two at this parallel.
“Ok, ok, Daisy. Pregnancy isn’t something to joke about.”
“You’re right. It isn’t.”
His laughter starts to fade, his eyes still meeting mine as I will him to finally realize what I’m saying. The moment it does, I can see it - the smile dropping, his eyes growing wide, and he starts nervously stammering.
“I-I…uh wh-what…uh…when….why-”
“I’ve been feeling exhausted since my trip, realized I hadn’t had my period, took a few tests to rule it out, and…” I gesture to my stomach. His eyes flick down to where I gestured, somehow growing wider, as if he could already see a belly. Which is crazy because I’m too early. Right?
I need to read a book.
“P-pregnant? But that makes no sense! I suited up and you - you said you were on birth control.”
“I am. Well, was. When I found out I was pregnant, I stopped taking the pill. And no, I never missed a dose. Always took it on time.”
“Then h-how?”
“Sometimes these things just…fail. I guess. I mean, it does say like 99% effective.”
His breathing has picked up, his chest starting to heave with the weight of it all. He starts glancing around the room, looking for any indication that I was joking. When he finds none, he stands abruptly.
“I-I can’t be here. I gotta..I gotta go.”
“Tommy-”
But he doesn’t stop, tripping over his feet and yanking open the door after fiddling with the lock, slamming it behind him as he all but runs towards where he must have parked his truck.
I don’t know what I expected. I guess maybe more…anger? That wasn’t like him. Talking? Maybe. Nervous support at least? Something. But Tommy storming out like I’ve told him he has 5 seconds before I'm dunking him in a tank full of piranhas? I didn’t expect that. The man was in Desert Storm - I thought he couldn’t get freaked out. When he gets back, I’ll have to ask him about that.
He will come back, right?

hey man looking to get into hockey. Any gear recommendations? Brands n layers. Thx!
Hard to say. I've always preferred CCM. Bauer just seemed to be geared for thin-athletic. As a gymrat with more muscle mass I found CCM more comfortable. Of course that was then...now both brands carry 3 lines that are each a little unique from their other 2 lines of gear. Back when CCM Ribcore was Reebok, I tended to the now defunct CCM Crazy-Lite line.
You really have to go to a store and try stuff on and compare to find what's comfortable for you.
Right now my gear is a mixed bag.
I prefer Bauer's undershirt with neckguard. The neck guard is the thinnest while still being equally good protection, and their equipment grippers on the sleeves make more sense to me, but CCM was on sale when I was last buying, so CCM for me. I have 2. They are supposedly designed to not stink. Nah. If you regularly let it dry out before washing it, it'll start to smell nasty. Regular washing and it smells 'hockey fresh'.
I really loved the last CCM compression jock. The cup pocket sat perfect for me with barely ever a need to adjust. Now, it's an internal cup/jockstrap, the same as their loose shorts. Compression or loose is a preference, kind of like boxers or boxerbriefs. Cups vary in shape. Finding the one you're most comfortable with is a never-ending search. Once you find one you like, get a second and keep it in your bag. This way, if you forget your cup or jock you always have a backup packed, and when you wear through that badboy, you have a replamement you know you'll feel comfortable in.
I haven't found a Kevlar sock I like yet, so I use thin CCM and Bauer skate socks. When you get your skates, have a pair to try the skates on with. The thinner the sock, the more control your foot has over the skate. Some go barefoot. There's something about putting their feet into a cold, sometimes still-damp skate that turns their crank I guess. I can't. I played without socks only once. It was very uncomfortable. The next time I forgot my skate-socks I wore my no-show ankle socks to avoid the heebie-geebie feeling.
Now, for pants, I prefer the CCM Super Tacks girdle. Girdle vs. pants is a personal choice. I prefer the girdle. You give up some bulky padding for the sleekness of a girdle. I really liked my Warrior Covert girdle with the cup pocket built in. It was perhaps the best for a meaty 'hockey ass'. CCM and Bauer girdles both have fully adjustable waist and thighs, and you can lengthen or shorten both to a degree. Both are open crotch. CCM feels natural to me, Bauer is too tight on the ass, and through the crotch because of the construction of the thigh pads. CCM's protective pads just sit better on treetrunk thighs. If you go girdle, you need a girdle shell. The CCM one is pure crap. Lasts one season. I got a Mark Stone leftover Warrior girdle shell off an NHL surplus site after he got traded from Ottawa. They were brand new and less than half the price of regular ones. If you go pants, find a pair that fit snugly, that stay up on their own, but allow you full range of motion. Some people say to try them on over jeans. Eff that. Try them on over a base layer like you will be wearing them over when playing. I had a red pair once I got off an online ad that was a free throw-in with a pair of gloves and helmet I was buying. All new, $80 for $450 worth of gear, so you might want to consider places like Facebook Marketplace for deals on everything. They went with my team's colours that year, so they worked. After that year, they stood out and looked stupid with Philly Flyers jersey and socks. Black is best.
My shinpads are old. CCM Crazy-Lite. They are a wider fit, again for better protection over built calves.
My skates are still Reebok. Between countless pairs of skates and rollerblades, they are the only ones that cause no pain/discomfort. Skates can be narrow, wide, or a combination. Some are wide toebox and narrow ankle, and others are the opposite. Get someone to actually look at the shape of your foot. Also, skate sizes are stupid. They are 1.5-2 sizes smaller than shoes. If you go with your shoe size, they may feel okay, but they are too sloppy, and you lose a lot of power in your stride.
Shoulder pads can be very thin or very bulky. It's up to your preference. I still have my CCM Crazy-Lite shoulder pads. They're on the thinner side. I also have a bulkier shoulder pad. It's constructed stronger but I'm in a non-contact adult league. Bulky shoulders are not necessary for me so they collect dust. Both have a sternum/heart guard. I can't say it's useless. But, when some dumbass forward lost an edge crashing the net he shot along the ice like a torpedo into the boards. I jumped over the hotshot but his stick hauled me down akwardly. My elbow pad was squarely under my chest as the initial point of impact. For weeks the hospital wasn't buying my explanation and chalked my heart concerns to 'stress'. Finally taken seriously, tests revealed a decently bruised heart and a torn pleura. 14 weeks of a Myocardial Contusion later, I finally was able to play again. The guard either was useless or saved my life. 🤷‍♂️
My elbow pads are CCM Crazy-Lite. They're shorter on the forearm because I can't stand the feel of longer, bulkier ones. Again, no one's chucking elbows. There just to protect from the sting of a puck. Yes, playing defense, I have had a good bruise from where they don't cover when I waved my arm in front of a slapshot because I was dumb. Lesson learned, goalies like to get hit with frozen rubber, so leave it to them!
My gloves are CCM tacks. The price was right. Again, I prefer a shorter cuff, so I leave more forearm exposure. It's a tradeoff because I act autistic and constantly fix my jersey when its sleeves interfere with proper-length gloves. Gloves stink to the heavens. Wash your hands before you play. There are products that you can get to keep them a little fresher. My advice is to air those bad boys out as soon as you get home and use a hockey deodorizer. They'll still smell hockey heavenly, don't worry, they'll never be accused of smelling pleasant by family or friends. They will be hands-down the raunchiest gear you own.
My helmet is an out-of-date Reebok with a CCM cage. THE Reebok helmet is basically the CCM one under a different logo. Bauer and CCM fit differently. CCM fits my noggin better. I'd suggest getting used to a cage. Full face visors scratch and fog up. Half visors fog up, and in most leagues, signify the douche on the opposing team.
Hope this helps. Any more questions, ask away!

a stats report on the rk ashwick books (as of April 2023)
some folks responded positively to the idea of seeing data on how my books have done (for indie author research and benchmark purposes), so here you go!
I'll put everything under the cut:
📚 What do I write?
Cozy fantasy romance under the pen name R.K. Ashwick.
📚 Why do I write?
Because I love it. I have a full-time job that isn't related to writing, so I write in my spare time. I should also note that I do not have dependents, am not a caregiver, and I do have anxiety and ADHD. I am not certain that I want to be a full-time writer, given the financial instability and the joy it could take away from writing. However, I want my books to be and perform the best they can, so I try to be professional about my product and methods.
(To me, this is all important context to be up-front about. Finances, family size, and health all have a huge impact on an author's goals and strategies.)
📚 How many books do I have out?
The Stray Spirit: released August 2022. First in a planned trilogy.
A Rival Most Vial: released March 2023. First in a planned trilogy.
📚 Online Visibility
Here's what I have going on:
Paid:
Website (requires $ for hosting)
BookFunnel for newsletter promos, sales promos, and ARC distribution (site requires $ to join)
Unpaid:
Newsletter (currently managing on free version of Mailerlite, since I'm under 1000 followers)
Facebook page (not consistently maintained, mostly for SEO)
Instagram, posting 5x/wk
TikTok, posting 5k/wk
Tumblr- hi!
using things like LibraryThing, GoodReads forums, Reddit, and FB pages to find more ARC readers
I was doing Amazon ads, but recently nixed them, as I didn't feel they were really getting me anything. I'll likely return to them once I have more books out.
A Note on Follower Count: I have, like 10 FB followers, 400-ish Insta followers, 1500 TikTok folders, and almost 1600 Tumblr followers. I've been on Tumblr the longest and TikTok second longest. TikTok had the fastest growth, Insta the slowest. However, general advice is that engagement rate is more important than follower count. I'll be real, I'm not doing that hot on that front. I'll consistently get around 20 likes on Insta posts and TikTok often caps my video views at around 200 or 300. The videos that do the best on TT often aren't the ones related to my books. Fun times.
A Note on Newsletter Stats: I have a pretty consistent open rate of 25-30%, which I think is okay. I'd like for it to be closer to 40%. (It's also hard to actually track open rates, so that number isn't entirely reliable.)
A Note on ARC Reader Stats: I got 100 readers for TSS and almost 200 for ARMV. This resulted in a ballpark count of 20 reviews for TSS and 30 reviews for ARMV around release time.
📚 Other Marketing Strategies
What you see above under Visibility is my ongoing work. I also do more limited-run strategies, like:
occasional free book giveaways on social media
pre-order gifts for my book
I sent out around 20 pre-order gift envelopes for TSS and 45 for ARMV. I operate the pre-order gifts at a loss, but I really enjoy doing it, so I'm okay with it. I also have lots of leftover stickers and bookmarks that I can bundle with giveaways.
📚 Distribution
I distribute wide through:
Amazon: both ebook and paperback
IngramSpark: paperback only
Draft2Digital: ebook only
📚 Orders & Royalties
So, what did all this work and shennanery get me?
From July 2022-April 2023 (10 months):
Books Sold: 575
Total Royalties, paid and unpaid: $1543.49 ($2.68 per book)
📚 Is that good or bad?
I have no idea!! And I think in the end, it all depends on your goals.
If my goal was to make a living: welp, it's def not enough.
If my goal was to break even: between website set up, DBA set up, cover cost, editing cost, illustrator cost: nah. I'd have to make about $4,000 more to safely say I've broken even.
If my goal was to get strangers, and not just family and friends, to read my books: oh hey, I did that!!
I hope this information helps you set a goal, so you're not mentally wandering around like I am.
📚 Other Notes
A big factor in having a financially successful indie book is fitting genre conventions in your chosen subgenre, or 'writing to market.' I will say that A Rival Most Vial is more written to market than The Stray Spirit is. The Stray Spirit sort of straddles cozy, historical, and academic fantasy without actually leaning in to any of those things, so it's a little harder to market.
I also spent a lot on cover, editing, and illustration. That makes it harder to be a financially viable business, but it's what I wanted to do to have a strong finished product. I am lucky in that my full-time job can cover these expenses.
I'm not very good at social media. I've never had anything go viral on any of the sites.
The most rewarding part of all this is seeing how people react to the book: reviews, videos where they're almost crying over the book, podcast invitations, and [something a bit bigger than I'll announce in the summer.] At the end of the day, if I have a small group of buyers who are vocal in engaging with my books, that's far more rewarding than a large group of buyers who don't engage.
📚 Parting Thoughts
I'm happy to talk about any and all aspects of my self-publishing experience. If you have more questions or want more details, feel free to reply, send an ask, or DM me!

M2- emptying my head
The coffee is starting to kick in and I will enjoy the feeling for maybe an hour or two because I get woozy and too hyper to be comfortable lol Such a bad habit but I’m so tired without it and tend to get a headache. I choose the warm, black, delicious coffee. Lol
So yep,I deleted my main Facebook page. I have my family one also but am rarely on there. If I did still have my fb,I’d be scrolling aimlessly now and seeing all the same old stuff. Facebook in the older days it seemed people actually talked about themselves and were open but it’s not the same. It’s all memes now and good morning posts, happy birthday posts etc etc and filtered pics day after day ,mostly woman lol How many pics does one person need? It’s crazy.. and the men fill the comments like sniffing dogs or something. Being a woman I know when pics are posed just right or altered but men or most men don’t seem to care. I’ve just been feeling negative energy around there and I’m already stressed from stuff here and my own stuff going on. Added to the stress list is I used a buy now pay later app to get food yesterday! We had no food! I had about $12 bucks and no car or ride and am stuck.. so I got a BK bundle for 3 people. I couldn’t leave 2 others out. One has no money and my sister is already burdened with vet bills. I now owe over $40 made in four payments to this app. For one stinkin meal. I HAD to eat. I had to use a survey site that pays out right away to PayPal and lets you cash out at anytime. I already had $5 in my Chime so I made $7 bucks taking surveys to get a meal and some energy back. I need my meat. Lol The 4th person who lives here feeds herself, has money and is vegan. I felt like I did a little something in my dizzy haze but the reality is now I have to pay off a quick fix meal. Makes me feel so terrible. Ended up last night my sister gave person 3 some money to go to grab a few groceries so NOW there’s food, go figure. Sometimes this happens. Nobody says just hang on, we’re going to get some stuff so don’t buy any delivery anywhere OR give me your card and I’ll grab you a few things. Nah, doesn’t work that way and our communication here leaves a lot to be desired. Being “off the grid” for three days and I’m liking it. The problem is the 2 people I talk too almost daily. A girl friend and a guy friend. Been sort of fading fast from them.. the guy well, I just don’t wanna complain and I will. I’m in a bad funk and don’t want to bring him down and the girl,I’m just closing off. Everytime I open up, her responses rub me wrong lately. Some is her and some is how I’ve been feeling lately. I told her I’m going off the grid but I think she took that as only Facebook as she’s still trying to text me. Person 4 just got up and said “Do you plan on cleaning today?” Sheesh.. I controlled myself and said yes and that person 1 already woke me talking to herself about the house needing an extreme clean. I clean about every other day and I just did but for some reason it gets bad again so fast and we are 4 women. It should not always get this way in one day. It’s insane. Nobody washes their dishes or loads them right away and it piles up. The kitchen is my least favorite house chore. It’s frustrating that it cannot be kept up and then I’m looked at like I’m the culprit of everything house related. Nobody understands how I feel and what I deal with say in and day out. I’m going to go start the kitchen. Put on Tubi for sound and get it going. It’s the hardest room in this tiny house and I like to knock it out first. I’ll be back babbling I’m sure. Happy Saturday though. 😁

Barry falls in love with a girl he never thought he would a goody two shoes kook but she shows him she may be good in the streets but she’s naughty elsewhere with her calling him daddy x

She was too good for him, and he knew it. Everyone knew it. Everything about her was soft, precious and lovely. She was approachable, charming and sweet. While he was gruff and seemed to radiate anger. Though he didn't particularly mind that, it kept people away.
He should have known it was the sweet one he had to keep his eyes on, though. It was the sweet one who kept him up all night, tangled in sheets and his fingers flexed around her throat.
He never saw it coming.
Barry had been at home half asleep, flipping back and forth through the few channels he got on the television in his bedroom when she called him. The slur in her voice was thick, and her giggle was constant.
"Come pick me up." She slurred on the other end of the phone. She spoke so quickly, it took him a moment to register what she had said to him.
"Nah. Last time I picked you up drunk, you threw up on the back of my bike. You not that far. Walk here, I'll meet you." Barry mumbled as lazily switched off his television and looked over at the clock hung on his wall.
1:12 A.M
Right on schedule.
"Fine. I'll walk to your stupid house. But if I get stolen -"
"Ain't nobody gonna steal you. Too fucking loud. Bring you back to me in ten minutes they'd be tired of your ass." Barry grinned as he pulled himself out of bed, and slipped his boots back on. He grabbed his switchblade from the top of his dresser, pocketing it just in case as he shuffled from the back of his house to the front door.
"You're mean to me."
Barry could almost hear the pout on her lips and he was itching to kiss it. That or thumb that pout off her lips and tell her to be good, but he had to get her home safely first.
"Keep your phone on. Don't stop for nothing. I'll see you in five minutes." Barry replied as he hung up the phone, not addressing her whine of a remark at the moment.
Barry walked quickly down the uneven dirt path from his house to whatever street his girl had found herself on for that night's events. A girls' night of sorts. He didn't seem to mind as long as it ended with her in his bed. He usually preferred she called before he was half asleep, but he didn't particularly mind.
"There's my man." She giggled from down the road, as she took long, wide circular steps towards him. She played with the hem of her dress as she walked over to him, her shins already bruised from a fall earlier in the night.
"The fuck did you do tonight?" Barry sighed as he rubbed his forehead at the sight of her.
It's the sweet ones that are the most trouble.
"Nothing!" She giggled as she grabbed the front of her dress, hiked it up the the front of her thighs and bent over to give him a full show of her cleavage.
"You know I don't like that Beth girl." Barry mumbled with a stern point of his index finger at her while his other hand reached for her dress, tugging it down to its rightful place just above her knees.
"Oh, Beth is fine. She just likes boys and vodka a little too much." She smiled up at him, the pads of her fingertips pressed to the underside of his chin.
"Why I don't like her. Tells you it's girls night, and then you end up drunk, falling on your knees in front of some Kook." Barry replied as he wrapped her under his bicep and began to lead her back the way he came, back towards home.
"Well, if it makes you feel better - I fell to, and still get on my knees intentionally for you, Barry." She smirked up at him as she wrapped an arm around his waist, her hand sliding into the back pocket of his pants.
Barry tightened his hold on her, bringing her closer to him to whisper in her ear.
"Get your ass inside." Barry mumbled, his lips pressed to the side of her face before he released her from his hold and watched as she took off running the short distance back towards his house.
Barry ran his fingertips over the scruff on his top lip, then walked after her. He closed the door to his house firmly behind him, locking the door. No lights were on in his home, and if he didn't know the place so well by now he probably would have knocked some things over.
But he followed the path from the front to the back, and into his bedroom where he already heard her rustling around under the blankets.
"Dark in here, woman." Barry grunted as he made his way over to his bedside table to turn on the lamp. He felt her hand grab at his wrist and pull his hand towards her chest to place his palm over her heart.
"Come play with me." She whispered as she began to guide his hand from the sweet place over her heart to the base of her throat.
It was the sweet one who wanted the most from him.
"Why should I? Woke me up to come pick up your drunk ass." Barry replied as his fingers flexed on her neck while he leaned down to press his forehead to hers.
"Daddy."
It was so soft he barely heard it, more the vibration in her throat against his fingers as she spoke the name that drove him wild. Especially coming from her lips while those sweet eyes looked up at him.
"Lift your dress up and take your panties off." Barry ordered with a firm flex on her throat, not enough to hurt her but just the way he learned she liked.
Also never saw that coming.
"Yes, Daddy." She breathed out as she quickly leaned forward to kiss his lips then hiked her dress up around her hips and tugged whatever flimsy material she would tell him was underwear down to her knees.
"On your back."
Barry watched in the little sliver of light as she flopped to her back, dress around her hips, as she brought her knees to her chest and tugged her underwear off. She used her thumbs as a slingshot and tossed them across his room. As she went to bring her knees back down, he stopped her and pressed them back to her chest.
"No. Keep them there."

In the Stars (part 2)
Pairing: Billy Russo x Reader
Tumblr media
Request: So, first of all, I love your writing so much. I've just finished reading "In the stars" and I've loved it! Idk if you're taking requests but I was wondering if maybe you could do a part 2?
A/N: You guys… I had so many fucking requests for part two of this, I love you. I'm honestly overwhelmed by how much you guys engage with my work on here.
Side note; I don't actually know much about astrology so take anything I say with a pinch of salt since it's done with surface level research for this. I'm more of a tarot girl myself and originally I was gonna switch the astrology to tarot since I know all about that. But I didn't wanna deviate from the request too much so I stuck with astrology.
Warnings: cursing, bit of fluff, idk flirting? Talk of sex but no actual sex?
If you guys want a part three to this which would mostly be smut then hit me up lmaoooo
-----------
You were lounging on a beat up sofa that was in the greenhouse at the back of the flower shop. The plants were watered and it was a nice day. You were taking a moment to relax and let the sun come through the glass above you like a cat basking in the warm glow. You knew a customer had come in a little bit a go. You'd heard a gruff voice ask Gemma for advice on flowers for his girl. But since you were never needed in the front, you just chilled out for a bit after popping some headphones in and vibing in the sun as you leisurely scrolled on an astrology site you were on.
Maybe, just maybe, you'd been thinking about Mr Fancy Coffee man in the past three days since you ran right into him. You'd been sure you'd see him again at the time but it hadn't happened so far. Either way, you kept thinking back to his smile and his obsidian eyes and you smirked as you read what you'd already known when you'd called back after him to give him your own sign.
'Aries and Scorpio Sex:
Aries and Scorpio like to turn the heat up with everything they do! So, you can imagine the bedroom as being one feisty! Aries is a fire sign, and Scorpio is a water sign. Mix fire and water and what do you get? Yes, it is steam! With this duo between the sheets, we pray the wallpaper can withstand the steam-effect! Aries and Scorpio are the same when it comes to an intense libido. They are energetic with enough energy to keep each other up all night long.'
You ripped your headphones out, tossing your phone on the worn out faded pink cushions as you bounded to the door to the main shop.
"Hey, Gem! Did you know that Aries and Scorpio are like hella compatible for sex? I mean we'd just be riding each other all ni-" your words died on your lips as you slipped through the beaded curtain to find the man from earlier who hadn't actually left yet. He was a little rough looking but he wore a look of shock and thorough amusement at your words as you smacked a hand over your mouth with a laugh. It wasn't really appropriate talk in front of a customer but even Gemma bit her lip to stifle her incredulous laughter.
"I uh… I'm sorry," you murmured, a sly smirk on your face that said you weren't really sorry but said it anyway to be polite. He barked out a laugh and shook his head.
"Don't worry about it. Sounds like a hell of a time," he replied with a chuckle. It put you at ease that he wasn't going to start something about your behaviour, threaten to take his business elsewhere. It wouldn't be the first time you'd done that.
"Don't mind her. She's the crazy plant lady," Gemma grinned as she continued adding flowers to the bouquet on the counter. Some pretty forget-me-nots.
"Hey! I'm not crazy just because I talk and sing to them. It's science! If I didn't do that then all these beauties would be withering away in misery," you pouted playfully, earning another laugh from your best friend and chuckle from the man.
You looked at him then and he was already looking at you. His gaze wandered your face and hair like you held the secrets to the universe and you quirked a brow curiously. Knowing he was caught out, he glanced away and cleared his throat but his eyes flit back to you. It wasn't like you weren't used to looks since you were anything but ordinary, but he looked almost like he knew you or something.
"Sorry… just… thought I recognised you," he muttered apologetically.
"Oh trust me, you'd know if you'd met her before. She leaves quite the impression," Gemma snorted.
"I bet she does," the man said with a small smile as he looked at you again like he knew something you didn't. Or maybe you were imagining it.
You grinned as you walked towards the counter, leaning your arms on it as you admired her work. The bouquet was filled with purples and blues and it was breathtaking.
"Serious relationship?" You asked casually. The man looked slightly taken aback by your bold question and Gemma swatted your arm as you gave her a look.
"What?" You asked with a huff. The man smiled and shook his head.
"Nah, it's fine. It is. Been together for a little over a year now," he had a lovesick look on his face and you found yourself smiling back at him.
"You love her?" You asked softly. He rubbed the scruff on his chin with a bashful look that looked at odds with the rest of him as he nodded.
"That I do," he murmured fondly.
You pushed up and leaned your hands on the counter as you glanced from the flowers back to him.
"You should get her a succulent," you declared. Gemma snorted again as she trimmed the ends off some roses and the man quirked his brow.
"You mean like… a cactus or some shit?" He asked, sounding confused and amused.
You rolled your eyes, whizzing into the back and grabbing a small terracotta pot with a baby succulent in it. It looked almost like a flower with how it's leaves were arranged. You bought it back out to the front and back to him as you set it down on the counter.
"Meet Emily. She's cute and sweet and she says forever," you shot him a cheeky grin and he snorted, eyes darting from the plant to you.
"I'm sorry… Emily?" He asked with a smirk
"Hey, she's a living thing like you and me, why shouldn't she have a name? And don't tell the others but… she's my favourite," you whispered the last part, eyes darting to the beaded curtain like you didn't want the others to hear and when you looked back at him he was smiling and shaking his head at you.
"Look… flowers are great and all, a nice gesture and pretty to look at, but they wither and die. They go from pretty to morbid which is why they're great for special occasions but they don't last. But these cuties… they don't take much maintenance, it's hard to kill them and they're more… permanent. Flowers are a great way to say 'I love you' in a shorter sense, but nothing says 'I'll love you forever' more than one of these," you mused with a fond look at the plant.
The man stared at the plant for a moment appearing deep in thought and when you glanced to Gemma, she was grinning from ear to ear as she wrapped up the arrangement in pretty pale purple paper. A similar shade to your current hair color.
"Fuck it. I'll take… Emily, too," he declared after a moment. You beamed and slid the pot over to Gemma so she could pack her up with the rest of the goods and ring him up.
"You're good at this," the man said after a moment. You flushed a little at his words and snorted.
"I just care about the plants," you shrugged with a smile.
Gemma finished the wrapping and started ringing up the purchases as the man's eyes darted between you both.
"So… you two ladies got any plans later?" He asked casually. He didn't seem the type to make unnecessary small talk but Gemma opened her mouth to indulge him anyway.
"A few of us are going out later to the bar down the street. The Lizard? It's not been open that long but it's pretty chill. It's nothing fancy though," Gemma smiled softly as she accepted the money from him, opening the register.
"Fancy places wouldn't let us in," you snorted with a smirk, toying with one of the many rings on your fingers.
"They wouldn't let you in. Besides, they have good music there and they don't mind when we let loose and get a little weird," Gemma laughed. The man chuckled with a nod before glancing back at you. He still had that look of recognition in his eyes and you tried to think if you'd ever seen him before.
"Sounds like my kinda place. I might have to go with Karen and some friends sometime," he mused with a nod.
"You should, if you run into us let me know if she loves Emily. You've basically both adopted a cute earthy child so…" you grinned mischievously. He snorted, seemingly unaffected by you being yourself and you liked it. It wasn't often you got to talk to customers like this which is why you often stayed hidden in the back.
"I will. Have fun ladies and thanks for these," with that he was off and you and Gemma grinned at each other. It was nice to have a customer like that man, even if he did look completely out of place in a flower shop. You had a feeling he'd come back for more things for this Karen woman he was smitten with.
---------
Billy sipped his beer, dark gaze flitting around the bar before he settled on his best friend. Karen was leaning on his shoulder and the pair had been nauseatingly close since they got here. Curtis and David were also at the table relaxing and talking to one another.
"Is there a reason we're here?" Billy drawled as he sat back in his chair a little more. This wasn't their usual haunt and they didn't normally deviate from it. It wasn't so much that he didn't like the place. It was relaxed and quite similar to where they usually ended up. But it was a break in routine and he wasn't sure why.
Frank shot him a sly smirk as he sipped his beer and it made Billy narrow his eyes a little.
"Well… I have it on good authority that little Ms Aries is gonna be here," he said smugly. Billy hated himself the moment he sat up straighter like an eager schoolgirl, especially when his friends all cheered and laughed at the news. He'd only told Frank about her, but Frank being Frank… well he'd told Karen and Karen told Curtis and David and in three short days it had become a running joke that he was hung up on a girl he hadn't even been able to get the name of.
Billy tilted his head, long fingers tapping on the beer bottle as he levelled his gaze at Frank.
"And how would you know that when we don't even know who she is?" He asked with a raised brow. Frank had a shit eating grin on his face as he leaned forward on the table a bit.
"Because I found her at her work earlier," he grinned. Billy blinked at him for a moment, mouth floundering as he tried to absorb that tidbit.
"Okay… so as my best friend and therefore wingman, is there a reason you didn't mention it until now?" He asked dryly.
"Nah, I thought it would be a nice surprise and I didn't want you to talk yourself outta comin' here. Never seen you hung up on a girl before and I gotta say, she's a fuckin' riot," Frank snorted. Billy felt an unnecessary pang of envy at him then. Envy that his best friend managed to find her, spend some time with her maybe more than he had in the street. He knew it was stupid. His best friend was head over heels for Karen after all, but it was there all the same.
"She works at the flower shop," Karen supplied with a soft smile as she looped her arms around Frank's larger one. Great, so Frank told her before he told him. Did everyone but him know? Why he was feeling like a petulant child, he didn't know, but before he could open his mouth to no doubt say something ridiculous, Frank's sly grin widened as he inclined his head to the door.
Billy would lie until the day he took his last breath about how fast his head whipped to the door. He almost broke his damn neck. But there she was in all her purple haired glory and Jesus fuck was she the most beautiful girl he'd ever laid his eyes on. How did she get even more attractive in three days? Shit was ridiculous. But not as ridiculous at the nerves that bloomed in his belly at the sight of her. He was Billy Russo. Ex Spec Ops sniper. Former marine. CEO of Anvil. Serial womaniser. But now he was just Billy. Dumbfounded, actually kind of nervous and moon-eyed Billy.
He watched as she and another girl she came in with walked over to the table with a few people and hugged them. Her smile was radiant and his eye twitched when she hugged the guys at her table. He kept waiting like she'd lean in and kiss one of them. To feel that crushing blow. But it never happened. In fact, the girl she'd come in with snuggled up to the one of the guys and the other had his arm wrapped around another girl at the table.
"Well… you gonna go and get her name or what, Bill?" Frank asked with a snort. Billy cleared his throat, rolling his shoulder and glancing back to his beer before he shrugged.
"After my drink," he tried to sound casual but Frank's gaze softened a little and he hated that his best friend knew him better than anyone. He was just thankful Frank didn't call him out for it.
---------
You and Gemma had gotten to the bar a little later than usual because Gemma's cat snuck out the apartment and you'd had to hunt him down. He was cute but a menace but once he was back safe at home you'd both made a beeline for the bar. You had a few shots in quick succession to make up for the lost time and you weren't drunk but you felt the pleasant warmth spreading through you as you laughed and joked with your friends.
"Oh, I love this song, dance with me," you beamed, not giving Gemma a chance to protest as you grabbed her hand and moved a little from the table. It wasn't a club and there wasn't a dance floor but there was adequate space between the tables to dance. No one else was dancing but it was hardly the first time you and Gemma did this. It was always fun and amusing.
You wrapped your arms around her shoulders and hers went around your waist as the pair of you giggled and swayed your hips. There were a few cat calls but it was all in jest. It was obvious you two were joking around by your over exaggerated movements and Gemma singing loudly and very off key, with your friends joining in the chorus. You loved your group of little weirdos.
You turned around in her arms, hands still around her neck from behind as you swung your hips, eyes closed and a smile on your face. But when you opened them, they landed right on Mr Handsome himself who was at a table with some others and he was staring at you with wide eyes and a small smile. A grin spread across your face as you continued to dance. You knew you'd see him again. You paid little attention to anyone else as your eyes locked with his and he sat up a little straighter as he noticed he had your attention.
You smirked, flashing him a cheeky wink as a call back to when you last met before you spun back around to face Gemma.
"So… the super hot guy over there in a maroon sweater? Looks like he's stepped right off of vogue? He's Coffee guy," you murmured giddily. Gemma didn't even hide the look she shot him before she laughed and looked back at you.
"First of all… wow. And second, he's like legit staring at you so hard right now," Gemma smirked.
You bit your lip with a smile as the song ended. Gemma gave you a hug before returning to her seat and then you made your way over to the bar and waited for the bartender so you could grab a beer.
"Can I get you a drink, astrology girl?" His smooth voice sent a shiver down your spine and you glanced over to where he was now standing next to you.
"Of course. Beer please, Coffee boy," you grinned cheekily at him. He chuckled, ducking his head as he waved over the bartender and asked for two beers.
"I told you we'd meet again," you murmured with a smirk, sipping the beer once it was placed in front of you.
"You did. Although I think my friend Frank had somethin' to do with that," he replied with a smile as he glanced over his shoulder. You followed his gaze to his table and saw the man from the flower shop. Your eyes widened as an incredulous laugh left your lips and you gave him a thumbs up. You heard his laugh from across the bar. The woman with him was smiling wide and also watching you both, as were the other two men at his table. You had a feeling if you glanced over at your own friends they'd be doing the same thing.
"So… do I get your name yet?" He asked, leaning his forearms on the bar. His shoulder brushed yours and it felt like a jolt of electricity shot through you. You glanced at him, a coy smile on your lips as you took another sip of beer. Your tongue darted out and swiped over your lower lip to catch a drop and you didn't miss how his dark eyes were drawn to the motion. It made your stomach clench.
"Y/N," you smiled softly. You couldn't help it, you'd have given him anything he asked right then with the way he was looking at you. His face brightened when you relinquished your name, his eyes crinkling a little as he grinned. His teeth are perfect. I want him to bite every inch of me with those things.
"Billy," he offered, raising his beer bottle. You grinned as you clinked yours with his and you both took a drink.
"I read some pretty interesting things about the sexual compatibility of an Aries and Scorpio," you murmured with a wry grin, nibbling your lower lip as you looked at him through your lashes. He was so close to you and you could feel his warmth through the layers of both of your clothes. And he smelt good. It almost made you dizzy.
"Is that so?" He asked, dark eyes intent on you and only you. His voice was lower than before and you fought the urge to jump him right there. You flashed him a toothy grin, a mix of flirtatious and just plain impish that made him smile.
"Apparently we're a match made in sexual heaven," you teased softly.
You watched as he swallowed thickly, his Adam's apple bobbing as he did. His almost black eyes felt like they were setting you on fire from the inside out with how heated his gaze was.
"Well now I gotta problem. Because I wanted to ask you on a date first but you're makin' it really hard for me to have any restraint," he purred. Shiiiiit. That tone alone would have you needing to change your panties when you got home.
You smirked, all sinful as you leaned into his ear, your hand going to his firm forearm. You heard his breathing hitch before you even said anything as your hot breath landed on his ear.
"I'd really like that date," you whispered with a saccharine smile. Honestly, you weren't known for your patience and you wanted nothing more than to drag him back to your place and fuck him until neither of you could walk again. But the idea of a date, of dragging it out a bit, it intrigued you. The man had lived rent free in your brain since you both collided three days ago and as much as it would kill you, you knew the wait would be worth it and only make it better.
You moved back a bit, your face still ridiculously close to his and he flashed you a devilish smile all of his own before he leaned down and kissed you. It was an intense kiss. Full of hunger and passion you'd never felt before and you didn't hesitate to kiss him back eagerly. There were some cat calls and you had a feeling a few came from your friends but you were hardly fazed by your brazen kiss with the most handsome man in the world.
When you broke away, you were both panting and you felt your cheeks flush a little at how he looked at you. There was definitely arousal there but he also looked slightly awestruck. You flashed him another grin before slurping some of your beer and he chuckled as he did the same.
You spent the next few hours sitting beside Billy at the bar as you got to know one another, all the little mundane details that really made up a person. You felt like you'd never get tired of looking at him, of hearing that smooth as silk voice or watching how expressive his face and eyes could be. And no matter what you said, whether it was embarrassing stories about your friends or about the plants at work, he acted like you'd just told him the best story ever. He was attentive and soaked up all of your words greedily. You couldn't remember the last time someone made you feel like this.
You left the bar that night after agreeing for him to pick you up at 8 the next night and exchanging numbers. You'd kissed him that time and it was full of as many promises as his kiss had been. And you didn't miss the way Frank clapped his back once he returned to his seat either. The wait would definitely be worth it.

(hi, it’s me again pretending as if i didn’t go on an unannounced hiatus).
yes, i’m back...for now. i’m not sure for how long. as i’m too busy these days, but i wanted to specifically make this post because it’s been bothering me for a while now. someone mentioned this in the woosan tag as well, but it’s...
non-atiny’s(and some anti-shipping atiny) who constantly feel the need to expose woosan as some cleverly put together ship that was carefully manufactured by the company. i’ve seen so many titles on youtube and posts on twitter saying how:
“woosan is obvious fanservice” and “woosan; a prime example of queerbating in kpop”
i’ve never seen a ship be so criticized for being ‘out there’ and ‘in your face’. i’ve made a post on fanservice before but this post will mainly be focused on why i think it’s completely unfair, dishonest, homophobic, and antagonistic to view their relationship as manufactured and fake. and before you go, ‘i’m sure they’re good friends but all that other stuff is clearly done by the company.’ and don’t get me wrong, bc kq is very much aware of the ships and do try to profit off of fanservice...like every other company. but the clearest indicator of this not being MOSTLY all fanservice is something i’ve mentioned many times before.
1. the rest of the ships in ateez not being anywhere near the intimacy and skinship as woosan.
2. body language.
3. the members THEMSELVES explaining their dynamics.
4. kq not FORCING ships.
ever since predebut and debut there’s ALWAYS been three main ships in ateez. seongjoong, yungi, and ofc woosan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as you could see, woosan was definitely thee most popular ship. however, i do believe their popularity grew over time because during the early era i’m sure seongjoong dominated, even on fanfic sites they dominate the amount of fanfics written about them. however, woosan’s clear comfort and intimacy with each other made them more popular among atiny’s and even non atiny’s they even had some taekookers saying their ship was realer and that’s saying something xD.
something people really, no i mean REALLY need to understand is...doing fanservice does not invalidate an entire relationship.
there are plenty of celeb couples who enjoy publicly dating and showing affection.
then comes the argument of well, “if they were real they wouldn’t be so obvious about it.”
this statement bothers me because, people who believe that showing too much skinship is fanservice but then they’ll turn around and say at the same time it’s just culture???
it’s fair to see them doing their fake love dance routine and going THAT’S FANSERVICE. but looking at those moments and going ‘nah, their entire friendship gotta be fanservice.’ is delusional to me, as u like to call us shippers.
even if you do not ship them romantically, it’s odd to me that people see two same-sex idols expressing comfortability, intimacy and skinship together and feel like if they’re too open about it or if it looks too gay then it’s....fake? even tho fans love to say it’s just apart of their culture. but if it gets too gay, then it’s fanservice.
i can’t. xD
just because they’re completely comfortable with being intimate doesn’t mean they’re being forced to act that way...it literally just means they ARE that way.
i constantly put emphasis on being comfortable with skinship and intimacy bc, to me that’s just not something the company can force. body language is a reaction from your true emotions and your inner most thoughts. IT IS THE FOUNDATION TO FIGURING OUT WHAT A PERSON TRULY FEELS INSIDE AS THEIR EMOTIONS WILL ALWAYS TRANSLATE THROUGH THEIR BODY. if u are uncomfortable it will be revealed through body language. and i know a ton of seongjoong shippers are gonna hate me for this, but they are a prime example of this. trust me i’m not here to start a ship war, i am purely just using them as an example of discomfort in body language.
body language is something a company cannot control.
seongjoong show definite signs of being uncomfortable with intimacy, heck shippers use that one moment seonghwa expressed sadness bc hj hugged the other members and not him as a shipping moment lol. but even when they do hug it looks uncomfortable. my guess is bc hj is not good at expressing his feelings and isn’t a touchy person. and even tho seonghwa is comfortable with skinship, it’s understandable that it can become uncomfortable for him bc of the things i mentioned before as well as the power dynamics and age difference between them.
and here i am going to be stoned bc, i have more to say about seongjoong(don’t kill me).
bc something the company also can’t control is what OR who the members hang out with OUTSIDE of group activities. so that’s why i’m also mentioning that i also don’t think seongjoong is as close as shippers think they are as...seonghwa mostly hangs out with woosan. and it is almost always mentioned how often woosan hang out together off camera. even early on. woosan hung out so much that it literally came to a point where yeosang felt like his bestfriend was taken from him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
can we mention again how happy that makes san? and let’s not forget the moment woo said seonghwa was into him, but san was like. ‘you’re into me tho’ and they BOTH tried to gloss over that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
wooyoung: wHaT dO u mEaN?
lol. people love to say how much san’s whipped for woo, but woo’s probably even more whipped.
here’s more evidence of woosan enjoying each others company off camera. https://woogurl.tumblr.com/post/614348590729625600/nobody-wooyoung-san-and-i-bass-boosted#notes.
we can even talk about a more recent moment. the ateez debate about mint chocolate. dunno what’s with these kpop idols debating about mint choco ‘cause bts did it too. lol. anyway, they ended up talking about the group dynamics. and how woosan again are always together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i-i’m sorry, but does moment remind y’all of a past moment? LMFAO. seonghwa’s feeling yeosang’s pain.
seonghwa’s just like woosan says they’re tired of each other but can’t detach themselves. and here’s more evidence that the company isn’t forcing them. for those who thinks kq has some masterplan when it comes to promoting ships.
when they talk about their dynamics, jongho says he feels left out but hj exposes him and says, ‘we’ve tried to pair him with someone but he(jongho) just doesn’t do it’
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so this just solidifies my statement from earlier, if the members don’t wanna promote a ship. they ain’t gonna do it. we got one or two vlives from twoho and das it. lmfao. don’t get me wrong. i’m sure jongho get along well with yunho as well as the other members, but promoting any of the other ships in ateez like woosan isn’t gonna work well. ‘cause the rest of the members don’t have the same dynamics. woosan are comfortable with skinship and being intimate with each other and the other members just are not.
another piece of evidence is the members tired reaction whenever woosan is mentioned. lmfao.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this was so dramatic omg. but the members reactions are very telling of woosan’s relationship off screen. if woosan was just fanservice i do not believe the members would react the way they do, maybe share some knowing glances at each other like. ‘pfft, they think woosan’s real’ but their reactions are always big or very indicative of something bigger happening behind the scenes. lol.
i’m not gonna go into too much details, bc the members reactions to woosan are an entirely different post(i got so many posts to make. xD).
Lastly Wooyoung’s Tatto. I know right? He’s very committed to fanservice guys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amicus ad Aras is something that woosan made to signify their friendship, and the fact woo got a tattoo on his body of it means a lot. not to mention woo himself taking initiative to find something that represented their relationship.
i feel like i need to reiterate that the meaning of this tattoo was to define his relationship to san specifically so it applies to san specifically. woo has many MANY friends AS WELL as bestfriends yet he got a tattoo that can only be truly applied to san and no one else.
u can continue saying theyy’re just good friends doing fanservice, but it’s obv that woo has many good friends. so the next question u gotta answer is what separates san from the others.

Kravitz had answered the listing as a joke. He had assumed that said listing had been a joke. Now he was wondering if this was going to be the thing that got him murdered.
Reading it over again, it hadn't changed from when he looked at it five minutes ago.
Listing: Fake Boyfriend To Avoid Jogging With Roommate Serious Responses Only
Additional details: my roommate keeps trying to make me go to the gym with him, so I told him I couldn't cause I have a date that day. It worked the first six times but now he's starting to get suspect. Especially because the dates are at 6am. Need a cute boy to stand in as a fake date. If you have a job that would require you to go on dates at fucking sunrise that is a plus. Will pay for breakfast, just need a few photos to throw off the scent
Kravitz wasn't sure what possessed him to reply, other than the picture the user had posted was um, very nice. And it was funny.
The person, Taako he mentioned once they started talking, had asked for a picture of him back. Almost as soon as he sent it he was starting to make plans for a fake breakfast date, and at that point Kravitz felt too far gone to back out.
So here he was at 6am on a Friday, inside of the earliest opening coffee shop they could find. Kravitz was starting to think he got stood up (which somehow felt almost as bad as being murdered) when he saw Taako come in. He didn't have to scan around long before he caught sight of him, the place nearly empty.
"Oh good you're here and don't look like a murderer, things are looking up on cha boy's end," Taako said. Despite how early it was he certainly seemed to be dressed for a date.
"The murderers we were probably supposed to run into doing this are going to feel pretty awkward when they end up trying to kill each other at the same time," he joked, getting a surprised laugh out of Taako.
"Shit yeah, that's gonna lead to a lot of awkward exchanges at the annual cyber killer convention," he said, Taako giving him a very nice smile. "But yeah, thanks for doing this, lemme spot you breakfast and a cuppa Joe and we can grab some pics," he added. Kravitz nooded, following Taako up to the counter. Once they ordered they sat back down and Kravitz hadn't actually thought any of this through. He kinda figured he'd be dead by now.
"So uh, Taako, if you don't mind me asking, " he started, Taako nodding along, "why can't you just tell your roommate you don't want to go to the gym?" he asked, a little surprised when Taako groaned dramatically.
"Ugh, because he gets all sad and whiny about how we never hang out together and how it'll be fun and naturally I have a heart of gold and will eventually give in and fucking take him for his walk like the overgrown golden retriever that he is," he explained. Their food was called up at the counter at this point and Kravitz quickly jumped up to grab it. By the time he got back Taako already had his phone out.
"Ok that's fucking Instagram worthy right there," he said, taking a picture of Kravitz as he held the platter.
"You're not actually going to put that on Instagram are you? I mean you can if you want to, I have no idea how to use the site," he said. Taako seemed to think it over for a bit before shaking his head.
"Nah, these'll be for private use only," he said, winking for good measure. Which was certainly something.
As they ate Taako snapped a few more pictures, including one of a very cutesy kiss on the cheek. It was all a little ridiculous but by the end Kravitz was actually having fun.
And when they parted with Taako thanking him profusely again for the help he almost regretted not asking for a possible real follow up date.
He was pretty delighted when Taako called him back the next day, although he wasn't expecting him to sound so panicked.
"So uh small problem, nothing to freak out about," he said, immediately freaking Kravitz out.
"And uh what's that? Did your roommate not believe you?" he asked.
"No uh, he believed it a little too well and he showed a picture to my sister who showed it to her husband and uh do you happen to work with a Barry Bluejeans?" Taako said, the words all coming out in a rush. It took a few long moments for what Taako was saying to process in his head, but when it did he felt his eyes widen.
"Oh, um, yes. Yes I know him," he said.
"Yeah so my brother in law and sister are demanding I bring you over for dinner and I figure I should warn you before you get bombarded at work," Taako said, and Kravitz had to take a moment to take a deep breath before he responded.
"Should I bring a dessert?" He asked. There was a moment of stunned silence on the other end before Taako burst out laughing.
"Fuck, keep that up and I might have to upgrade you to fake fiance," he said, and Kravitz couldn't help but grin at that.
This was fake, he knew it was fake.
But at least it was fun.

❀Ghost In Action -BFU Shane x Reader x Ryan (Platonic)-
Pairing: Ryan Bergara x reader (Platonic) Shane Medej x reader (Platonic)
Gn!reader
Warnings: Language, slight innuendo
Word Count: 1,491
Tumblr media
"Back to where it all began" Ryan announced to the camera. I stifled a laugh and followed him as he did a dramatic slow walk towards the house. Shane just gave the camera a look and picked up his bag while shaking his head and walking ahead of us.
"We came here as boys, now we return as men.. and woman." Shane added, receiving a look from me as he glanced back at us.
"I'm glad to be back. How's it feel being your first time here Y/N?" Ryan asks, turning to me as I gaze up at the mansion.
"Gotta be honest, not looking very haunted from out here. In fact, it's really just beautiful." I say, turning to face the boys. Shane chuckles and nods. "Yeah, it wasn't very haunted last time we visited, on account of the fact that ghosts aren't real." He adds pointedly.
Ryan rolls his eyes at the tall man and picks up the sleeping bag he had dropped at his feet. Shane and I follow suit and the three of us walk through the doors of the mansion for a dramatic shot.
We all leave our belongings in a room and gather in the living room where the crew is setting up. I pull up a chair while Ryan rustles through his script papers.
After getting the mics and cameras set up, Ryan begins his reading for the history of the house. It was only 3pm, so we had plenty of time to get the narration done before we went hunting for the footage. "This week for the season premier on Buzzfeed Unsolved, we reinvestigate the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California, as a part of our ongoing investigation into the question, are ghosts real?" Ryan recites to the cameras, earning the usual shake of the head from Shane. I smile at the camera and turn back to Ryan as he continues with the history of the house.
"Avid fans of the show may remember that this is the site of our first paranormal investigation ever, and tonight, we return to once again tangle with Sarah Winchester and her cast of ghouls. This time stronger, faster, and more prepared with Y/N on our side. And tonight, we're actually gonna sleep here unlike last time." Ryan narrates as Shane and I make faces and gestors at the camera.
"You guys are lucky you brought me, because I brought snacks." I grinned, holding up a small backpack that crinkled as I let it drop the the floor.
"I'll stop by your room for concessions when Ryan's crying wakes me up then." Shane says while clapping his hands together, earning a glare from Ryan.
Tumblr media
Upon nightfall, we head into our investigation. "You think you will talk to any ghosts this time? Maybe make some friends?" I tease Ryan as we head down a windowed corridor. "Shut it pip-squeak." He snaps back, shining his flashlight at me. "I'm literally like 2 inches shorter than you. If anyone here is short, is you, bite-sized bitch." I retort while panning my light over his figure.
"Could you two can it? You are both miniatures, no point in fighting about whose smaller." Shane says as he walks between the two of you. "Yeah? Says the walking fucking tree." I say, poking his back and sticking my tongue out at him. "Wow, real original, Shortcake." He scoffs while ruffling my hair. I reply by acting like I was going to bite him, and he laughs and keeps walking.
As we reach a peculiar set of stairs, Ryan tells a bit about them. "This is one of the stranger additions the the house, a set of stairs that leads to absolutely nowhere." Shane butts in "You know, if you walk up those there stairs, you'll find God!" He mocks in a crazy old man voice as I approach the steps. "Let's test it out and see!" I yell as I start dramatically climbing the stairs.
Once I was up as far as I could go, Ryan comments "Oh go on, you can go further than that!" I roll my eyes and turn around, curling up on the top set, squished against the ceiling. "Happy?!" I yell. "Sure am." Ryan says, laughing at my contorted body.
We continue touring the house, stopping to yell at ghosts and listen to Ryan talk about various facts. We eventually reach another door. "More rooms? I swear this house goes on foreverrrr." I whine. "Nope, this is a door you wouldn't want to go through." Ryan comments while tugging it open.
On the other side is a courtyard and a sheer drop. "That wasn't very well planned." Shane quips. I chuckle at him and Ryan just looks disappointed. I ignore them and carefully point my camera down to get a scary shot of the drop.
As I lean forward a bit, one of the boys nudges my back and I struggle to grab the doorframe. I turn and look at them and glare. "Not funny assholes." I growl as they look at me confused. "What are you talking about?" Ryan asks. "I'm talking about whichever one of you just fucking tried to push me." I hiss back. They give each other a look and I shake my head and turn back to the courtyard.
I crouch down to avoid them pushing me out and point my camera back down to finish the shot. As I'm panning my camera up, I get pushed again. This time I wasn't fast enough to grab the frame and I toppled out to the ground below. The boys shout as they and the crew rush out as fast as they can.
When they reach me in the courtyard, one of the crew members calls an ambulance. "Not.. funny." I grumble as I try pushing myself up. With a pained groan, I let myself fall back to the concrete.
Once the ambulance arrives, both the boys frantically ask them questions. The paramedics push them back, letting them know only family is allowed in the vehicle, and they will have to drive to the hospital. Shane convinces them to let him ride with me under the excuse of him "being my boyfriend". Ryan hops into the car and follows the ambulance to the hospital.
Tumblr media
After a couple hours, a nurse entered the waiting room and informed the boys that they could come get me to be discharged. They both jumped up and followed her to my room and were greeted by the doctor.
"They have a concussion, fractured hip, a some scrapes and bruising. We got them all patched up. They'll be perfectly fine with some rest, just keep an eye on them." He says and looks up from his clipboard, directing his attention to Shane. "Try to hold off for a few weeks. Maybe more depending on how long the hip takes to heal." He comments, giving Shane a 'dad look' through his glasses.
Shane almost jumps to defend himself, before remembering telling the paramedics that he was my boyfriend. Instead, he just forces down a blush and nods at the doctor. The doctor just chuckles at him and looks back to his clipboard. "It looks like they are safe to leave. Remember to make sure they don't try to walk on their own and keep an eye on them." He says with a smile.

After getting back to my apartment, the boys helped to settle me in my bed. "So we talked to the producers on the way back, and they said we can schedule some time to go back if we need to, but I think we will have enough footage." Ryan explains while helping to grab some pajamas for me to change into. "And I sorted out your medical leave for you so you don't have to worry. I told them it was my fault."
"Wow, thanks for fessing up and telling them the truth." I said sarcastically as I rolled my eyes. Shane is quick to defend Ryan. "It wasn't his fault. Neither of us even touched you. You must have just fallen yourself." I scoff at him with a glare. "Then I'm gonna need to see that footage because you two are a bunch of lying assholes."
Ryan's eyes widen as he realizes. "OH MY GOD WE CAUGHT A FUCKING GHOST ON CAMERA." He yells causing me to cringe and cover my ears from my headache. "That or they are just clumsy as hell." Shane comments, earning another glare from me.
"Can I just get some sleep and have you assholes leave me be?" I half-joke as I reach for some water. "Nah, we've gotta keep an eye on you. Doctor's orders." Shane says cheekily. I throw my pillow at them and they laugh, bidding me goodnight.
Let's just hope they are liars, and I didn't just get pushed out of a door by a ghost.

Guardians of the Galaxy fanfic | Reader x Guardians (With Yondu and Kraglin!)
Summary: You want to make a run into town, but you're forced to take one of the Guardians with you if you want to leave. Guess who get's the pleasure of annoying you? If that wasn't bad enough, someone decides to show up at your door...

Author’s Note: For my records, this is day 17 of the Guardians living with reader.
Word Count: 6,751
"Where you going?"
You turned and looked towards the source of the voice, Peter's voice, coming from a door to the kitchen. You had just grabbed your keys from the kitchen counter and you were finishing up the short list on your phone.
Obviously you had intended to quickly run your errands the other day when you planned to take the raccoon corpse into town to be tested, but when Fury showed up having brought his own doctor and lab to test the raccoon on site, and also sentenced you to wearing your arm in a sling, you obviously hadn't done that.
It had been a couple days since then, you having wanted to get used to the sling a little bit before attempting to drive. You knew it still wasn't exactly the smartest thing to do, but you really wanted out of the house.
"Just running into town," you say, not paying him much mind.
"Why?" he asked, his tone weighting the word, almost as if he wanted to tell you that you weren't allowed.
You look up at him with a raised eyebrow. "Because I need to? Ya know, check the mail, pick some stuff up, post a few bills?" You knew it could all wait, and the bills could be paid online if you really needed to, but he probably didn't know that. "Unless you need something I really don't see what it is to you." You weren't meaning to sound like a dick, but he was acting weird. You didn't like his tone, and his weirdness was only emphasized when you start to approach the doorway to exit the kitchen but he didn't move.
His eyes briefly went to your arm in the sling-brace. "Don't you think you should be taking it easy?"
That's what it was. Knew it. You roll your eyes so hard one might think they'd get stuck. "I'm literally fine." You make a shooing motion but he still doesn't move. Sighing, you make your way toward the other door, only to hear him jogging up the hall to meet you there, the sound making you pause before completing the distance, rolling your eyes before continuing on to see he had indeed done just that. You awkwardly cross your good arm with the one in the sling. "Can I help you?" you say irritably.
Gamora entered the kitchen from the other doorway and you looked to her. "Can you please make your boyfriend stop being annoying?" you ask.
"I'm afraid that's impossible," she quipped with a slight smile, "Why? what's he doing now?"
By now Peter had entered the kitchen through the doorway he had been blocking. He ignored Gamora's quip about him being forever annoying and said, "She's trying to leave, I don't think it's a good idea."
"Well, lucky for me, you're not my boss," you say, admittedly a bit childishly.
Peter then donned a smug grin. "You're right. She is." He nodded in Gamora's direction, referring to the task Fury had assigned Gamora, essentially making her your babysitter as punishment for you neglecting to seek medical attention for your arm.
Your nostrils flared in irritation at him bringing it up and Gamora gave him a look that clearly stated she was uncomfortable. No one had mentioned the incident since the first day. You, because you didn't want to be reminded Fury was treating you like a child, and the others for pretty much the same reason, seeing no reason to provoke you, especially since you were seemingly behaving. (Again, aside from Rocket, but you had taken to keeping your earbuds in for most of the time, so if he did act like a dick to you it often fell on deaf ears.)
"Peter, I really doubt Fury intended for us to keep her locked inside." Gamora said, having assumed Peter was only wanting to refuse to let you go out for a walk, which she didn't understand, because he hadn't said anything when you took one the other day.
"Well I really doubt she's supposed to drive like that."
Finally understanding the issue Gamora grimaced. Peter was probably right.
Just then Yondu and Kraglin came into the kitchen looking to make something to eat, but saw the tense atmosphere.
"What's goin' on?" asked Yondu with a raised eyebrow. He hadn't heard any fighting coming in, but the way you were standing between Peter and Gamora almost implied someone was getting into it.
Peter spoke up, stating how you were looking to make a run into town and how he thought it was a bad idea for you to drive, only he phrased it to group him and Gamora together as having the thought, which prompted Gamora to say back to him that she actually hadn't given her opinion on the situation yet.
Yondu eyed you, or more specifically the brace on your arm. "Can ya drive like that?"
"Yeah." you reply. It was true, the arm in the brace wasn't the one you'd need for changing gears or signaling, so you should be fine, even if truthfully it'd be better if you didn't.
Yondu shared a glance to Kraglin and then shrugged. "Don't see a problem then." He turned toward the pantry, Kraglin following his lead, before he added, "Long as ya take Quill with ya."
You blinked. "Excuse me? Why would I- That's not- I'm not-" You were caught off guard and were now sputtering, clearly not thrilled with his addendum.
Yondu grinned at Kraglin, who was wondering where the elder was going with this, before saying nonchalantly, "If you're too nervous to take a passenger like that, then ya don't need to be going alone."
"I didn't say that!" you countered, pushing down the fact that the thought actually had entered your mind. "Maybe I just don't want to be annoyed by him- and I actually don't know if I can take him. That was never discussed." Again, this was also true. The topic hadn't come up. You had no idea if they were allowed to leave the property. Sure, for some it seemed obvious that they couldn't go into public, but you truthfully had never asked and had consequently never been told.
"He's Terran. Not like you'll run into issue there. I s'pose we could always call yer boss and ask..." His tone was laced with a grin as he turned back to face you with a Terran fruit he'd come to enjoy. A pear, he believed it was called. He was sure you wouldn't go for calling Fury, and he was right.
"No, we don't need to do that," you say irritably. Last thing you wanted to do was call Fury for something like this when he was already unhappy with you.
"I do think it'd be better if someone went with you," Gamora finally spoke up. "It couldn't hurt, at least." She was actually leaning towards the "don't let the Terran with an injured arm drive" party, but part of her believed you'd probably be fine and wanted to soften as much conflict as possible. Being transported in SHIELD vehicles she had seen how the insides operated, and it didn't look so complicated that you'd need both arms. It's not as if you were piloting a ship, and if you did wind up needing help, she was sure Peter could figure the vehicle out well enough.
You give her a mournful look and Yondu speaks again.
"But if yer still set on goin alone, I'm sure Gamora there won't mind callin' that Fury feller. Bet ya just wanna get away so ya can take that brace off without gettin in trouble," he said cooly with a grin. Catching the frown Gamora threw his way he added, "An' if she don't, I can always do it myself."
You tilted your head at the man, expression a mix of confused irritation. "First off, no, I'm not just leaving to do that. Secondly, who do you think you are? My mom?" you snarked.
"Nah, but yer acting like a kid. Somebody's gotta knock some common sense in that stubborn head of yers." Yondu replied, unfazed by your attempted insult as he took a bite of the pear and nodded once more to your injury.
You didn't get it. Why would he care? Why did any of them care?? Was it guilt? Because you wouldn't have been injured if they weren't there? You wanted to ask but settled for just sighing in defeat. You looked Peter over. He wasn't wearing a shirt with any alien writing on it, so at least he wouldn't get any funny looks for that. "Fine," you relented. "Get ready."
Peter let out a triumphant laugh and said he was already ready to go.
You took a moment and opened a couple drawers before finding what you were looking for. "Take these just in case." You tossed him a pair of black sunglasses. "You'll look like a douchebag, but you're probably used to that."
Peter let out a, "Hey!" but you ignored him, making your way past the others to the front door, telling Peter to hurry up.
***
"Can I drive?" Peter asked as the two of you walked to your vehicle.
"Absolutely not." you answered back with an incredulous glare.
"Why not? It'd be easier to let me drive than you try to drive with your arm in that."
"Because I seriously doubt you have a drivers license," you begin to say. Peter opened his mouth to retort but closed it again when you added, "that would be valid here." You open the driver's side door and add, "And because I don't even know if you know how to drive."
"I'll let you know I've been flying a ship since I was ten!" Peter countered.
"I don't care." you reply. "You're not driving. I can't risk us getting pulled over and you not have a license. You're fully free to stay here if you have a problem with that." You gesture back towards the house.
Peter disappointedly huffed but got in the passenger seat. You won this round.
***
Once you and Peter had left out the front door Yondu grimaced. "Might've miscalculated that one..."
"What'dya mean?" Kraglin asked. Gamora also gave him a funny look.
"Thought fer sure tellin' her to take Quill would've made her see that stayin' put wasn't that bad."
"Wait, you were trying to use reverse psychology??" Gamora asked, clearly annoyed.
"If that's what ya want to call it." Yondu shrugged with a frown, watching through the window as you pulled away down the drive, making sure the vehicle looked like it was driving straight. Luckily for you, it was. Otherwise he was fully prepared to whistle and spear a couple of your tires. Kitchen window would've needed replacing too if that happened, seeing as it was closed.
"Doesn't matter what I call it! It didn't work!" Gamora scolded. "If you didn't think it was a good idea you should have just taken our side instead of trying to play games and sending Peter with her!!"
"What'dya mean 'our side'? You were saying she should take someone with her too!"
"I didn't mean it!" Gamora snapped back.
Kraglin looked uncomfortable, not liking the feeling of being stuck in the room while the two of the more intimidating Guardians argued. Not wanting to draw attention to himself by leaving he just stood there and nibbled at his protein bar.
"Calm down, missy." Yondu said. "It'll be fine. And if not, Quill's got one of those phone things SHIELD gave us. Boy can handle himself."
Gamora glared but didn't speak any further, choosing instead to grab an apple off the table and head to her room. Yes, it likely would be fine, but it didn't mean she felt good about it.
***
After several minutes of driving in silence Peter tried to make conversation.
"So... lotta trees out here..."
"Uh huh."
"You make these trips into town often?"
You shrugged.
"I can see you don't feel much like talking..." Peter said awkwardly. You obviously weren't pleased with taking a passenger.
You turned on the radio in response.
Peter tried again after a few minutes when the music cut to a commercial break, trying a different tactic. "So, why are you afraid of doctors?" he asked, turning the radio down.
You gave him a strange look. "What? Where'd you get that idea."
He went into how you seemed tense when the doctor was checking you over when Fury came, and then recounted an incident that had happened the other day.
You had been reading in the sitting room when Mantis came in. You overheard her tell Gamora that her throat hurt, and so you pulled a lozenge from a drawer in the nearby table, telling her to suck on it and to tell you if it still hurt in an hour. If it did, you'd contact SHIELD to inform them she needed to see a doctor. Hearing this, Kraglin had piped up and asked why you would see that Mantis got a doctor straight away, but you had to have one forced on you. You gave him a look before telling him that it was different, and left the room before he could ask how.
"I only just put the two together." Peter said. "It must be because you're scared of doctors."
"No," you said flatly. "I'm not scared of doctors. I just didn't need one. If Mantis was sick, she would have needed one."
"But you did need one." Peter countered. "And Agent Hill told me about what you did in Romania. You needed one then too. Why would you do that to yourself unless you were too scared to go see a doctor?"
You exhale out your nose, annoyed that Maria had been telling him your business. "I'm not afraid of doctors, ok? It was an important job. There wasn't the time to stop and say 'Oops, will ya look at that, my appendix needs out. Better put the job on hold so I can find a doctor.' Not when I can do it myself. Happy?"
"She said you nearly died. That doesn't sound like being able to do it yourself. You can't do things like that. It's insane."
Your face hardened. Who did this guy think he was? Telling you what to do, you barely knew each other! "What's insane is a crime ring that traffics children to the wealthy elite for sexual favors," you snap at him. "So I guess I'm sorry if I wasn't willing to compromise the job to go lay in a damn hospital bed."
Peter didn't know what to say to that. He still thought you were insane for performing surgery on yourself, but he couldn't quite find a suitable argument after what you just said. After a moment he asked, "Did... did they get out?"
You knew he meant the kids. You swallowed. "Most of them. I don't want to talk about it." You turned the music back up, and Peter let it go.
The two of you rode in silence for a good bit longer before Peter turned the music back down again to speak.
"How much longer until we get where we're going?" he asked.
"Not long. Another ten minutes maybe. Why?"
"I need to take a leak."
You almost roll your eyes. "Why didn't you go before we left the house?"
"I didn't have to go then!"
A huffed laugh escaped your throat. "Seriously? You're like a toddler." You shake your head and say, "Do I need to pull over? I can if it's an emergency."
Peter almost pouted from the toddler comment. "No, I can hold it."
"Alright. Suit yourself."
About five minutes later you come up to a town, and a few minutes after that pull into the lot of a shop, the first stop on your list.
"I just have to run in here and grab a few things, they'll have a toilet you can use." you say as the two of you got out of the car, adding, "Don't forget those sunglasses. I don't want to take any chances."
He rolled his eyes but put them on anyway.
Upon entering the store you told Peter he'd find the toilet in the back and told him you'd be looking in the spices, pointing in the direction he'd find you when he was finished. You debated going along and waiting for him since he was technically your responsibility, but you decided against it. The shop wasn't too large so you trusted he wouldn't get lost on his own.
You split off on your separate ways and you grab a hand basket before heading towards the spices. You had only browsed for a short while when suddenly Peter was back at your side. "That was quick." you said to him, locating two of the spices you needed and dropping them in your basket.
"Door said it was out of order." Peter replied, sounding almost pouty.
You shook your head and said, "See, this is why you go before we leave the house." You find the last spice you needed and give him a knowing look as you began walking away from the spices.
"Don't talk to me like I'm a kid!" Peter said indignantly, following you as you left the aisle.
"Don't act like one." you reply, turning to find the cleaning aisle. SHIELD had been kind enough to include other basic things like toilet tissue on their supply drops, which you had been grateful for with eight other people living in your home, and the Guardians had already come with their own toiletries like toothpaste and soap, but you were seemingly on your own for cleaning supplies. You were now running low on dish and laundry soap. Gods, there was always laundry now. At least they did their own. Mostly.
"You're one to talk!" Peter retorted, gesturing to your arm.
You glare over to him as you walked. You swore, if you heard one more time about how you were acting like a child just for being stubborn about not seeing a doctor...
"Ow! You did that on purpose!"
"Did not." You said flatly, though you absolutely had smacked him with the basket on purpose. Not super hard or anything, but enough for him to feel it crack him in the knee.
He pinched you on the shoulder.
"Ow!"
"Didn't do it on purpose." Peter mocked.
You were by the dish soap now and so you set the basket down to grab a bottle. However, you were sure to flick Peter on the back of the head before you did.
"You did not just flick me!" he said irritably, retaliating by giving your exposed side a couple quick squeezes.
Your arm jerked down fast as lightening, having been just shy of grabbing your preferred bottle of dish soap. Your cheeks were burning and you looked around as you scolded him in a whisper-yell. "We are in a public shop! Don't you dare start that!"
"You started it," he countered smugly. However, his the smugness was wiped off his face when you gave him a taste of his medicine.
"See how you like it then!" you say, using your good arm to return his actions. You hadn't been positive it would work, but you weren't disappointed to see the playing field leveled when it did.
Peter's eyebrows shot above the sunglasses, his eyes widening as he crippled away from the touch and grabbed your wrist. "Don't! I told you I had to pee!"
"Oh." You had been so busy bickering it had honestly slipped your mind. "Sorry."
"Truce?" Peter offered, releasing your hand.
"Yeah, fine. Truce." you agreed, reaching up to finally grab the bottle of dish liquid, a little embarrassed as you realized how much like children the two of you had just acted. "Just hurry up and figure out if you or your friends need anything before we leave," you say, making your way down the aisle to grab the laundry detergent.
It was Peter's turn to look embarrassed, only for a completely different reason. "Actually, now that you mention it- if it's ok, I was wondering if they sell... "certain"... things here?"
You put the detergent in the basket and begin to head towards the pharmacy section, realizing it wouldn't hurt to pick up some bug spray and more of that gel for the bites. Mantis had a bad habit of getting bit by midges, and most of the others had started falling victim to them as well. You didn't look at Peter as you walked, saying, "You're going to have to be way more specific than that, dude."
Peter's cheeks we turning noticeably pink by the time you looked at him when he said, "You know... um... the things... for "special moments..." he used air quotes and looked quite uncomfortable, even with the sunglasses hiding his eyes. "Um... you know... uh... When two people like each other very much..."
You wanted to cover your mouth to hide your grin, but one arm was stuck in a sling-brace and the other was too busy holding the grocery basket. "Are you asking if they sell condoms here?" You tried really hard to bite back a laugh, but a tiny chuckle slipped out. It wasn't that he was asking for them that was funny, it was the way he seemed like a teenage boy about it, all nervous and such like you'd call his mother on him.
Peter's face was bright red now. "Don't laugh! Just- never mind."
"No, it's totally cool. It's just funny. I mean, we're adults, you can ask for them. Like, at least you're being safe about it." Suddenly feeling in a better mood and wanting to tease him you say, "Unless... do we need to have 'the talk' young man?" Now you really couldn't hide your giggles.
"So not cool!" Peter pouted, hiding his face in his hands.
You nudged him in the arm and pointed him down that aisle and told him he could find what he needed there. You continued up a couple aisles to grab the bug repellent and itch cream.
You met back up and he wordlessly threw what he had retrieved into the basket, barely looking at you as he did so. You held back giggles at his behavior and asked if he knew of anything else you needed to grab before checking out.
Peter shook his head, and you can tell by his expression he's eager to leave the shop and go back to the house. You almost feel bad for laughing, and you get an idea.
"If your friends liked the Oreos I can pick you up some more. We'll pass that aisle to get to the checkout anyway."
Peter nodded and you grabbed another double sleeve of Oreos before walking to check out. You only hoped you wouldn't get stuck with one of those chatty cashiers.
Wouldn't you know it, of course you did. You weren't super familiar with the cashiers despite frequenting this store, but you had become familiar with the fact that you didn't care for the one who's line you got stuck in, not realizing you had until it was too late.
Normally you feel for retail workers. You knew it was a tough job, but this one cashier just didn't know how to get the hint that not every item he scanned needed a comment.
Laundry soap? "Ooh! Great taste in scent!" Spices? "Someone likes cooking! Anything good tonight? Yum Yum! Ha ha!" Bug spray and itch cream? "Oh those nasty midges are out again. I feel you, haha." Cond-? Oh fuck. "Oh ho! Someone's getting luck-ay tonight! Am I right, my dude?" He winked at Peter, who noticed you looked like you wanted to reach across and murder the cashier.
Peter chuckled nervously and tried to smooth it over. At least, that's what you thought he was attempting. "Oh- aha- no. We're not together. We're uh- She's my sister."
You snapped a glare at Peter as you thrust your payment to the cashier and grabbed one of the two bags before storming off, telling him to keep the change. Peter grabbed the other bag and left the cashier standing there, who at least finally had the decency to look embarrassed by his comment.
Peter caught up with you quickly.
"Don't call me your sister. I barely know you," you say grumpily. That wasn't really the full reason it upset you. Peter wasn't your brother. Your brother was gone. Peter didn't get to call you that.
"Sorry, I panicked," he said.
You brush him off. You knew there was no way he could know. "Whatever, let's just leave. Sooner we finish in town sooner we can go back to the house."
You made your next stop to a nearby petrol station to fill up your car and give Peter a chance to find a working toilet. After the two of you successfully completed both tasks respectively, you stopped by the post office to grab the mail and post your bills while you left Peter in the car. On your way out of the post office you caught glimpse of someone across the road and a brick fell in your stomach when they waved, indicating they clearly saw you. You nodded back out of politeness but hurried to get in your car.
You buckled in and looked in the rearview mirror, only to see the person, a middle aged woman in a flowery blouse, walking towards your car, still not quite to the road yet, and waving her arms trying to get your attention.
"Fuck," you say, putting the car in gear to reverse before stopping to put it back in drive to finish pulling away. This would be so much quicker if your arm wasn't in the damn sling, but you still managed even with having to completely stop to remove your hand from the wheel to safely change gears.
"What?" Peter asked, turning to look out the back window once you began to pull forward.
"Don't worry about it- and don't look back!" you scold. You take a peek in your review mirror to see the woman gesturing in defeat, thinking you hadn't seen her trying to get your attention, and you let a small relieved sigh.
"Who was that?"
"No one." you replied.
"So you ran away... from no one. Sure."
You shoot him a look and turn the radio back up, clearly signaling that you weren't about to discuss it. The rest of the ride was spent in silence.
***
Once home you told Peter to put his "special" items (yes, you called them that, air quotes and all, just to embarrass him) in one of his pockets unless he didn't mind advertising them to the rest of his friends. You had assumed he'd be embarrassed if they were just on display for the others based on how he acted in the shop, and the fact that he obeyed implied to you that you were correct.
Once inside you and Peter made your way to the kitchen to put things away. He had refused to let you carry both bags, and you didn't fight him.
Sitting at the table were Kraglin, Yondu and Rocket. On the table were five empty bowls and an empty tub of ice cream.
You sat your bag on the counter and began pulling out it's contents to put them away. Honestly you were slightly bummed that they had finished off the whole thing, if you had known that you might have picked some more up while you were in town, but you didn't say anything about that. You did, however, say something along the lines of "Looks like you guys had fun without us."
Kraglin, who knew you didn't like the house to be messy and knew they were expected to keep up after themselves, began gathering the bowls to put them in the sink, to the eyeroll of Rocket.
"Yup. Ya two missed the party," said Yondu with a chuckle. "I'll admit, that ice cream stuff ain't bad." He then said to Peter, "Yer girlfriend is the only one who didn't want any."
You froze in place, your eyes widened. It hadn't clicked before. Your mind had been preoccupied with other things. Ice cream. Five bowls. There were seven people left at the house. Gamora hadn't wanted any. Tiny Groot probably shared with someone else. Yondu literally said he ate some. That meant... fuck.
You turned around to face them. Looking right at Yondu you say, "Uh, how long ago would you say you guys had the ice-cream?"
"Not quite half an hour ago, why?"
You bit your lips before saying, "Do none of you think to read labels before you eat things?"
Kraglin rolled his eyes playfully as he sat back down. "What? Ya mad we ate your snack?" he teased.
"No no no-" you state, holding up your pointer fingers like a teacher instructing the class on why they were incorrect. You didn't know if you wanted to laugh or groan. Probably the later. You look over at Peter, who held a slight grimace on his face. You say to him, "You know what ice cream is?"
Peter nodded. He remembered ice cream. He also knew the moment Yondu claimed to have eaten it what the problem was.
You look back to the others. "Any of you know what ice cream is?"
Yondu and Kraglin exchange a strange look and Rocket rolls his eyes, wanting you to get to the point.
"It's basically frozen milk."
"Ah." Yondu says, clasping his hands on the table and dipping his head with a slight wince of understanding. He was about to have a bad time. Kraglin and Rocket now share a look that can only be described as 'Crap..." (No pun intended)
Disbelieving laughter bubbles up your throat as you bend below the sink to retrieve a can of aerosolized air freshener and plop it down on the table in front of Yondu. "That's for you, for the inevitable. Use it." You walk to haphazardly throw the contents of your grocery bag in the pantry, leaving your mail on the counter and grabbing your earbuds. "Make sure to open the windows... I'm going for a walk, because there's no way I'm sticking around to deal with that again," you say, giving a mock salute as you make your way out the back door, leaving the guys there to deal with what was sure to be the horrible aftermath of their oversight.
*** You finally came back a couple hours later to find all the windows still open, but no one outside, and decided that was probably a good sign.
You cautiously re-entered the house to find that no bad smells seemed to have stuck around and decided to go look for survivors, but first you needed a snack. You were starving.
You ate a pop-tart just for something quick and then found everyone in the sitting room. Feeling in decent humor you said, "Oh good. You lived." This earned groans from the others. They weren't really annoyed with you for abandoning ship, so much as they were annoyed that Yondu would have messed up and ate dairy for a second time. Well, Peter was a little annoyed that you had just left him there when he hadn't been part of who caused the issue, but he'd get over it.
Your phone started to go off, startling you and a couple others in the process. You checked the caller-id and recognized the number. "Nope," you say aloud, ignoring the call.
"Who was that?" Peter asked.
"No one," you reply, only for your phone to chime with a text almost in response. You open the text and your eyes widen before you make your way quickly but calmly to the windows to shut them and draw the curtains.
This, of course, gathers the attention of the Guardians.
"What's wrong?" Yondu asks, perplexed by your behavior.
"Nothing," you answer at first, before turning to face them and amending it to, "Nobody's home," and continuing your task with the other three windows, still trying to retain a semblance of being calm.
The others watched as you made your way about the room, sharing perplexed glances. Once finished with the final window at the back of the room you started heading towards the door when Mantis grabbed your hand.
"Are you ok? What can we do?" she asked, concerned. "Please tell me?" She could feel you didn't want to ask for help, but she hoped her asking nicely might work.
You barely glance at her, don't notice her antennae are glowing. "I'm fine. If you want, I could use some help shutting the rest of the windows and curtains, please and thank you." You pull away and head to the hall, where they can see you draw the curtains on the front door shut through the sitting room doorway.
"I know you said you can ease people into compliance, but I didn't think you could actually make people do things." Peter whispered to Mantis. He naturally just assumed that's what happened. You, miss "I don't need help from anyone!" had actually asked for help. Clearly that wouldn't happen without some Mantis mojo. The closest you had come to asking for help was the first time Yondu had dairy and you wanted Peter to help open the windows, but still, that was less asking for help and more of telling him what to do if he wanted to live.
"I can't." Mantis replied. "She was genuinely asking. She's very nervous."
Peter shared a look with Gamora and Drax stood up from the couch to follow you, and the they followed him along with Mantis.
Yondu and Kraglin stayed in the sitting room with Rocket, who told himself he didn't care about whatever this nonsense was about and continued to play with Groot. Kraglin and Yondu exchanged puzzled looks, because unlike Rocket they were genuinely curious what was going on to make you as nervous as Mantis claimed. Why were you batting down the hatches for?
In the kitchen Drax helped you close the windows and curtains. As soon as he heard Mantis say she felt you were nervous he felt there must be a good reason and that he should probably help you, just in case.
Then you started shutting out the lights, and this increased the other's concerns.
"What's going on?" Gamora asked, authority in her voice as she followed you out of the kitchen. You may be their host, but she still felt they had a right to know what was going on, if they were in danger.
"Nothing." you say, shutting off the lights in the hall on the way to the sitting room.
"If it was nothing you wouldn't be doing this. Something is wrong. Do we need to call SHIELD?" She asked more insistently, not believing you.
You turn to her irritably at the doorway. "No. We don't need SHIELD," you say, flicking the switch to turn the sitting room's light off, much to the puzzlement of those inside.
"I will if you don't tell us what's wrong."
Just then there was a knock at the front door, and you visibly startled in response before freezing in place and whisper yelling, "Quiet!"
The other's obeyed, not sure what else to do or what was going on.
Peter quietly stepped out of the kitchen where he had been peeking through one of the curtains when he thought he could see the dim glow of headlights through the fabric. He saw a blue car pull up next to yours, and out of it stepped a tall man in a light grey sweater and a woman in a floral print blouse. She looked familiar.
"Hey," Peter whispered across the hall, "It looks like that woman from earlier. The one you ran away from."
"Shut up." you hissed.
Gamora looked at the two of you in confusion, but didn't say anything, didn't get the chance, because the knock sounded again and a woman's voice could be heard from the other side of the door calling your name.
"We know you're in there." said the voice. It wasn't angry or confrontational like the others might expect for someone you were apparently hiding from. "Your car's in the drive and we saw you shutting the lights out when we drove up."
You grimaced.
"We just want to talk." It was the man's voice this time.
Peter and Gamora looked at you expectantly, and you shook your head at them. Drax was now standing behind Peter in the kitchen doorway, Mantis having already moved past him to stand next to Gamora in the hall with you.
"Yes, we just want to talk." The woman's voice again. "We saw you in town today, we've been thinking about you."
By now Yondu and Kraglin had made their way closer to the door to better hear what was being said. They didn't care if they were being nosy.
The man spoke your name now, questioningly, as if to ask if you could hear them. "Ok, we understand if you don't want to see us, but please listen; We forgive you, and we're sorry."
You take in a breath, trying to mask your feelings with the others near. They were looking at you. Gamora's face had softened, wondering what the man meant. Forgave you for what? Sorry for what?
"We shouldn't have blamed you for what happened. We know that now." came the woman's voice. "We've had a lot of time to think it over, and we were wrong."
The man spoke again. "We were just hoping you could find it in your heart to forgive us, too."
You felt your chest tighten and you eyes burn, and so you clenched your jaw and your fists, unwilling to show any emotion to the space-strangers in your home, but they noticed anyway.
Peter gestured to get your attention and mouthed, "Open the door."
You shook your head, and he gave you a confused look. You nodded your head towards Mantis and Gamora as if to say, "Um, not with aliens in my hall!" Although that wasn't completely the reason, and you had the feeling he could tell, as he only sighed and frowned slightly in response.
After a pause the woman spoke again. "Alright. We understand you may not be ready yet. Maybe another time. We're still at the same place when you're ready to speak with us. Hopefully that's soon. We'll be going now."
You waited a few moments before approaching the door, and the other's thought you might finally be going to talk to the couple. You didn't, mostly to Peter's disappointment. Instead you peeked through a sliver in the curtains to watch them leave, not pulling away until their vehicle was gone.
As soon as you stepped back from the door Peter asked, "What was that? Who were they?"
"Nothing and no one," you answer, not meeting anyone's gaze as you flicked the hall light back on and walk towards the stairs.
Mantis grabbed your hand, but you pulled away, telling her that you weren't in the mood to hold hands right then and you were going to go take a shower. She just looked down sadly in response, but you wouldn't look at her to notice.
No one stopped you as you walked upstairs, and when you were out of earshot, Drax whispered to Mantis asking what you had been feeling just then, having noticed Mantis had been reading you when she grabbed your hand.
The other's listened in to her answer as she mournfully replied. She hadn't been able to touch you for long enough to get a full reading, but there had been one dominant emotion when she did touch you. You had been sad.
This only rose more questions from the team. Had the couple been been angry with you? What had you done? Why would their forgiveness have made you sad?
Weren't most people happy to be forgiven?
The sound of your bedroom door opening and shutting travelled down the stairs, followed shortly by the same noise of the bathroom door as you entered for your shower.
Yondu almost thought he could hear the faint sounds of crying before the noise was drowned out by the sound of a shower blasting on.

While some people might take as long as a lifetime to find their soulmate, you and Fred definitely had it easy for you two simply grew up together.
1991, you were camping with the Weasleys during summer break. The kids were playing in the woods while the adults were preparing dinner.
Fred and George were hiding behind trees. They just set up a tripwire and were waiting for someone to trip. But the mischievous smile soon froze on Fred’s face, as he felt fear starting to cloud his brain. He started trembling, and he felt lost, even though he knew exactly where he was.
He couldn’t pinpoint the source of this fear. This emotion didn’t feel like his own, but more like a message from someone. Like someone was calling for him; someone needed him.
Fred soon realized that it could be his soulmate. In the wizarding world, there are some moments when people could feel their soulmates’ feelings. These moments happened randomly, and sometimes it’s hard to tell if it was their own feelings or not. In fact, some people could live their entire life without ever finding their soulmates.
“Where are you going!” George yelled when Fred suddenly started running.
“Find my soulmate!” Fred was thrilled. It’s possible that he could find his soulmate today! But he was also scared, for his soulmate could be in danger now.
The sun was setting, and it was getting dark and chilly in the woods. The fear was getting worse, and he knew he needed to hurry up. He didn’t know where he was going, but the feeling of someone needing him was pulling him, leading his way.
And when he saw you crouching down and sobbing, everything suddenly made sense. Of course it was you. Why would it be anyone else?
He should’ve known when you started crying and rubbing your knee, even though he was the one who tripped.
He should’ve known when he and George were pranking someone during charms, and you started laughing too, even though you were sitting in the front of the classroom.
You were the one who’s always there for him, the one he could so easily open up to, and the one he could share his wildest dreams with. You were his best friend, and you were his crush for as long as he could remember.
“Y/N?” Fred carefully sounded out your name. He didn’t want to startle you and absolutely didn’t want this delicate moment to disappear.
“Freddie!!”
His voice was like the lighthouse to your lost ship. You ran to him like your life depended on it, and he caught you in a big embrace.
“I...I wasn’t paying attention, and I...I just-”
“It’s okay, love. I found you. I got you,” Fred whispered as he rubbed comforting circles on your back. Your hearts were both beating fast and you were both out of your breath. You were still trembling, but Fred could feel the fear fading. Instead, a foreign yet familiar feeling of security and affection was spreading through his body. Fred smiled softly as he hugged you tighter, “I found you.”
~
2001, Fred was hanging out with the boys at the pub on a Friday evening. When George was ranting about the quidditch game last night, Fred almost fell off his chair. He felt terrified as if something scary just jumped in front of him, but nothing was there. He felt his heart beating in his throat, and a more horrifying thought came to him.
It was your emotion. You were in danger.
“Sorry, gotta go!” He soon picked up his jacket and disapparated from the pub.
“It was about Y/N, isn’t it?” Lee shook his head after Fred disappeared, knowing too well what Fred’s reaction was about.
“Yep, he’s completely wrapped around Y/N’s fingers,” George chuckled, “that hasn’t changed for 10 years.”
“Baby, what’s wrong!”
You almost screamed when Fred suddenly apparated into the apartment in the middle of the night, and what you were watching on the TV didn’t help.
Seeing you comfortably curled up on the couch, with confusion written all over your face, Fred looked at the TV and everything finally made sense.
“Freddie, I was just watching a horror movie,” you laughed when you realized what this was all about too.
He let out a relieved laugh and joined you on the couch, pulling you into his arms and taking in the familiar scent of your shampoo to calm his poor nerves.
You giggled, “Did you leave the boys because you felt I was scared?”
He nodded, “Who knew you were just scaring yourself.”
“I’m safe. I promise,” you chuckled, “You can go back to the boys now if you want.”
“Nah, I don’t want to almost fall off the chair again.”
“You fell off the chair??” You laughed as the images of him being a mess popped into your mind. You were finding it both funny and absolutely adorable.
“Almost!” Fred squeezed your waist gently to protest.
You giggled and snuggled up to him, resting your head on his chest. He planted a soft kiss on your head and held you close as the movie continued to play.
Listening to his heartbeat, you felt secure and loved. You felt as if nothing else mattered when you were with him, and you knew as the familiar warm feeling coursing through your body intensified that he felt the same.

Tumblr media
(Not my gfif, creds to the original creator!!)
Y/N groaned, lying on her stomach and pushing herself into the pillow beneath her, burrowing her face into the fabric in hopes that she could suffocate herself and be done with this world.
“Doll, it’s okay. Breakups happen. I’m sorry I wasn’t here when it happened.” Bucky apologized, rubbing his hand against her back from where he sat next to her on the bed. He had just come back after a three month long international mission, only to find out that a few days he had gone off comms, Y/N and her recent boyfriend had broken up. The soldier moved his hand move to her hair, playing with a few strands like he usually did when she was in need of some calming energy . “I thought you were thinking about breaking up with him anyways.”
“I was,” Y/N frowned tightly, pulling her face from the pillow and looking back over her shoulder at her friend. “That’s not why I’m upset.” She sighed as she thought about it for a moment, wishing that talking about these things didn’t make her feel so frustrated again. Over the last few months, she had been healing, getting over the typical breakup feelings, but she knew that deep down, this relationship had been all fake anyways.
Bucky waited for a moment with raised eyebrows as Y/N moped further into her pillow. “So… why are you upset?” He finally asked after she didn’t continue.
Y/N huffed and pushed herself up off the bed, sitting up to look at him, “The problem is I expected to feel something... he broke up with me in the worst way, over a fucking phone call, and I feel nothing!”
Bucky blinked, watching as she whined and fell back into his bed. “And... that’s... bad.” Bucky responded slowly, attempting to catch up in her thoughts.
“Yes!” She exclaimed, her bottom lip pulling into a small pout. “It means that I just spent months of my life with this guy who literally made me feel nothing.”
Bucky thought about it for a moment before lying down next to her. “I mean it only happened a few weeks ago. Maybe you’ll feel it later.” He suggested, nudging her playfully.
“Maybe,” (Y/N) murmured, though she knew she wouldn’t. It had been a long time since she felt anything towards her now ex-boyfriend. Or anyone else really, and she had known this even before she met the newest ex. She had tried to bury it, tried to deny it, but it always came back the same way. She was in love with someone else.
The two laid in silence for a while, until Y/N’s fingers clicked onto her phone screen and found a playlist called ‘For the Brokenhearted’. Soon, soft melodies floated in the air, lyrics that made Y/N’s heartstrings feel numb. She felt guilty that she felt nothing, felt upset that there was nothing left over.
“Bucky?” Y/N asked after a while, glancing over at him. After the months he had just gone through, Y/N knew that he was probably sleep-deprived and mentally and physically exhausted, so she wasn’t surprised at all to find his eyes closed. But since there wasn’t his usual falling-asleep twitch in his leg, she knew he was awake.
“Mm?” The sound made Y/N’s lips turn into a small smile, watching the flutter of his eyelashes.
“Have you ever been in love?”
Such a simple question and yet, Bucky felt like he had just been smacked in the stomach, as if all the breath had just been knocked out of him. “S-Sorry what? Me?” His eyes opened to look at her, gazing at her thoughtful expression.
“Yeah,” (Y/N) nibbled on her inner cheek, a nervous habit of hers that Bucky had started noticing the first day they met. “Like heart skipped a beat, smile at the mention of their name, cheeks rosy when they look at you, giggles in your throat kind of in love,” Her voice was lofty, matching her head-in-the-clouds sort of facial expression.
Bucky scratched his head slightly, furrowing his eyebrows as he tried to understand why she was asking, “That… sounds super specific,” he commented slowly, but he knew exactly what she was talking about. He had felt all that and more, starting the very moment he had met her, how could he not?
“I’m scared it doesn’t exist... every time I think I’m in love, it doesn’t work out. I feel flutters with someone and I think hey maybe these are the right kinds of butterflies in my stomach but it turns out I was just looking for something that wasn’t even there,” She sighed, turning onto her side so she was facing him and taking his hand, her fingers playing with his. “I don’t want the next guy I think I’m in love with to turn out to be an ass too. What if I think he’s this super amazing guy, like all the others, and it turns out he’s the worst person I could ever be with?”
Bucky thought for a moment and turned his head to watch her. “One day, you’re going to find some super cool, awesome guy who’s going to treat you like the queen you are, doll. You’ll know it when you’re with him… it’s like magic. Or a puzzle piece. You’ve got to find the person who fits you and your heart just right. Can’t just shove some other piece because it just wont work. But when you find them… it’ll just click.”
There was a pause filled with a sort of tender love in the air, coming from the romance that filled Bucky’s voice as he talked. Y/N watched his eyes sparkle and they shared a gaze for just a moment that made Y/N’s insides turn.
“But until then, you and I can hang out and gossip,” Bucky added in playfully, a smirk on his lips.
Y/N smiled, eyes dropping nervously away from his his but they kept falling t o his lips, as if unable to stop herself from investigating those incredibly kissable lips, “I don’t know how I’d live without you, Bucks.”
He grinned hearing those words, hoping she couldn’t feel his heart racing, “Well lucky for you, you’ll never have to.”
“Until some girl comes and sweeps you away from me,” she tried to laugh, tried to make that smile on her face as genuine as possible because he deserved to be happy. She wanted him to be happy. Somehow, not one single girl that had crossed paths with Bucky had seemed to catch his eye, all of them absolutely stunning. If they couldn’t make Sergeant Barnes swoon, the kind of woman that would must be out of this world incredible.
“Awh come on, no one’s going to be taking me away from you. Not anytime soon.” Bucky’s shoulders gave a simple shrug as his eyes started to close blissfully again, not noting the sadness growing in Y/N’s eyes as she thought about the kind of woman that could make Bucky Barnes feel the way that she herself felt about him.
For just a moment, Y/N watched as he breathed quietly. Her eyes admired every freckle, every piece of hair, every little part of him that she could. She could very much be in love with this idea of something she didn’t know, something new, she was aware of that. She had been so scared that she was just falling in love with Bucky because her relationship didn’t work out and she found solace and comfort with him.
But it wasn’t just because of this asshole breaking up with her. The more she thought about how she felt about Bucky, the more she thought about how often she had waved the idea away with I’m not good enough for him… but that wasn’t really saying she didn’t like him.
And there was more than just what he was like with her. She loved the moments he thought no one was watching, the way he smiled seeing families play together at the park, the immediate need to help someone when they needed it, like that time he had brought home a litter of abandoned kittens.
There was just something about him.
“You’re staring,” Bucky’s voice and cocky smirk broke her out of her thoughts, his eyes not even bothering to open.
“Can’t help it, you’re far too gorgeous,” (Y/N) shot back, hoping her playful tone would hide her true feelings as she quickly turned to her phone to find more music. She begged the universe to keep his eyes shut, hoping he wouldn’t notice how nervous she got all of a sudden.
Bucky peeked an eye open at her words, smirking slightly, “Says the most perfect girl in the universe,” he tested. He just wanted to see that smile once more.
And there it was. Her lips turned into a bashful smile, her lower body squirming shyly. Bucky closed his eyes again, smiling as he saved the picture of it in his mind somewhere.
He felt her shift on the bed and suddenly there was a weight on him. He opened up his eyes to see her straddling his waist, staring at him. “Oh I’m sorry, did I wake you?” She teased, the playfulness in her eyes sparkling.
Bucky swallowed hard, feeling a deep lust for her itching inside of him. His thoughts wandered off for a moment, imagining different scenarios in which she was straddling him. “Nah, can’t fall asleep. Gotta watch after you and that broken heart of yours,” he finally managed out with a smile.
He watched as she slowly leaned down towards him, her eyes hiding a curiosity behind them as they followed his facial expressions. Their faces were so close at this point, Bucky couldn’t help but think about kissing her. Showing her that no other guy she’s dated was worth her.
Y/N moved some hair out of her face as she continued to examine his expression, his eyes, his lips. She couldn’t tell what had come over her, where this confidence had come from, but here she was, closing in the distance between their lips. Bucky’s eyes saw her gaze flicker towards his lips and the back to his eyes. Were they thinking the same thing?
“AND THEN WHAT?” Sam asked with wide eyes, watching as Bucky paced up and down his room. He was at the very edge of his seat, as if Bucky was retelling the most dramatic story of a lifetime (which he was)
“And then nothing!” Bucky groaned, shaking his head. He let out a sound of frustration, kicking at the air.
“What do you mean nothing? Sounds like she wanted to kiss you.” Steve’s eyebrow raised in confusion, leaning back into the couch he and Sam were sitting on.
Bucky sighed and after a moment, he finally threw himself onto a nearby chair, “I couldn’t do it, Stevie. She just went through a breakup. How is that fair of me to take advantage of her feelings like that?”
“I mean, you could’ve been her rebound.” Sam offered. “And then she just so happens to fall in love with you. You two get married, have kids, be disgustingly adorable-”
“That just sounds like I’m using her emotions to my advantage. She deserves better than that.” Bucky sighed, putting his head in his hands. “That was my one chance, wasn’t it?” He moped.
“Bud, everyone can see that you like each other. There’ll definitely be another time for it. Maybe when she’s not dealing with a breakup,” Steve nudged his friend, attempting to be comforting. “It’s only been a few weeks, give it some time.”
“I mean to be fair though, maybe that was her trying to tell you that she likes you and when you didn’t kiss her, she took it as you not liking her. I mean she did make the first move,” Sam thought out loud. Steve grabbed the pillow seated next to him and swung it out right beside him, hitting Sam smack in the face, glaring at the now laughing Sam Wilson as Bucky let out a whine.
“Dammit!” The dark haired soldier yelled out, his voice echoing into the room, thinking through his options. “The hell do I do now?”
“Well what happened after you didn’t kiss her?” Steve asked as Bucky hit his head against the back of the chair frustratedly.
Bucky sighed and looked over at him, “She just smiled kinda sadly and said she wanted to go talk to the girls or something.”
“Okay so why don’t you ask her if she wants to go get some snacks or something from the grocery store. Do that movie date thing you guys normally do.” Steve shrugged, not at all worried by the situation. He had seen the lovey-dovey glances these two sent each other all the time, and to be honest, he was getting so sick of it. It frequently disturbed meetings, ruined plans on missions, and right now, it was ruining what was supposed to be a peaceful Sunday night. With his luck, this would continue for a long time, so there was so need for his best friend to be worried.
Before Bucky could decide if it was a good plan, there was a knock on the door and Y/N peered in. “Bucks?” She blinked, surprised to see the three men sitting around and Bucky looking depressed. “Sorry, am I interrupting?”
“Not at all,” Sam smirked. “Sorry to hear about Johnny...Mark...Marcus?” He offered, stretching his mind.
“Tommy.” Y/N responded with a laugh.
“Right, Tommy... the... doctor?”
“Dentist,” Y/N laughed, raising an eyebrow in his direction. “Seems like you put in so much effort to remember my dates, Wilson,” she teased.
“What can I say, I just don’t think they’re that memorable compared to other guys,” Sam grinned, wiggling his eyebrows in Bucky’s direction when she wasn’t looking. “Well, sorry anyway,” Sam added in with a smile.
“Aw, don’t be sorry,” (Y/N) shrugged, sighing as she let her thoughts lead her words, “Any boy who breaks up with me over working here, isn’t really worth it.” The words spilled out before she could stop herself, smiling brightly until she noticed all the boys turning to look at her with wide eyes. “What?”
“He broke up with you because you work with the Avengers?” Steve frowned tightly. “What’s wrong with working with us? Did we do something? Is he one of those guys that doesn’t like us?”
“O-Oh-” (Y/N)’s eyes widened, “U-Um like, partially because I work with you guys.”
“Who the hell doesn’t like the Avengers?” Sam scoffed. “What’s so wrong with working here?”
“I-It wasn’t so much working with you guys as it was... you know...living with you.” Y/N admitted nervously, avoiding Bucky’s gaze as she desperately tried to put out a fire she started but only really making things worse. He stared at her hard and she knew it was because he was surprised she hadn’t told him this earlier.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Bucky’s voice was quiet but it sent a little shiver down Y/N’s spine. Sam and Steve shared a look, attempting to sink back into their seats, twiddling their thumbs.
“It’s not really that important,” Y/N told him quickly. “He just...got jealous that I’d be hanging around you guys and that I’m always with you and that I talk about you all the time and-”
“So it wasn’t so much the Avengers he was jealous of, but...Bucky?” Sam sat up straight as he spoke up, trying to contain the smirk on his face but it was hard. He didn’t need any clearer sign than that that these two were pining after each other - even Y/N’s idiot ex boyfriend could see that. Bucky’s face lit up like a tomato, which made it harder for Sam to contain any laughter.
“I-I mean...” Y/N scattered for a good excuse. Tommy had hated her relationship with Bucky and always felt like he came second to him... he wasn’t wrong.
“Did I do something?” Bucky asked nervously, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to come between you and your relationship-”
“No no!” Y/N burst out, shaking her head, “Please don’t think like that. It’s not like this is the first time it’s happened!” She laughed nervously, but the boys were still staring at her. Goddammit, stop talking! she begged herself, letting out a quiet groan when she realized what she had admitted.
Bucky’s heart was falling. So he had been the reason for all those nights she cried and wondered if she’d ever find love? “It’s happened before?” Bucky asked slowly, shoulders falling. “Fuck, how many of your relationships have I ruined?”
“Bucky-” Y/N started.
“I think this is our cue to leave,” Sam mumbled, nudging Steve’s arm. The two of them patted (Y/N) on the back before sliding out, Sam sending Bucky a supportive grin and a thumbs up before closing the door behind him.
“How many?” Bucky asked again, standing up stiffly.
“What?”
“How many times have I ruined a relationship with a person you really liked?”
Y/N swallowed hard, her mind racing as she tried to find the words to explain what it had all been about, “Bucky please, it’s not what you think-”
“Not what I think? You’ve been in and out of flings and relationships this whole time and now you’re telling me that this isn’t the first one to end because of me? What did I do? Is it because I’m around you lots?” Bucky looked angry and desperate for answers. Y/N’s heart broke seeing him like this, unsure of how to explain.
“B-Bucky, please, let me explain-”
“Damn, what kind of friend am I to be in the way of all your relationships? How could you not tell me? You could’ve told me to back off or something! How many of them did you actually like and I fucked it up?” Bucky ranted, his voice raising.
“Bucky stop!” Y/N yelled, eyes desperately following him. “I-It’s not like that. It’s not just because we’re always together. These guys just get jealous and...and...” Y/N swallowed hard, trying to figure out what to say. Was now a good time to admit all the feelings that were bottled up?
“Jealous of what? Of how you spend time with me here? Of how you take care of me? Is it because of who I was? Because of what I did?” Bucky pleaded, begging for answers. Why wouldn’t she just tell him the truth? “All those nights you spent in my room, crying over boys, and it turns out it was just my fault all along-?”
“Bucky Barnes, it’s because I’m in love with you!” (Y/N) yelled out, a desperate attempt to pull him out of spiralling.
Bucky’s eyes shot over to her, wide as he processed her outburst. There was a dead silence as the two of them stared at each other.
“You what?” His voice was barely louder than a whisper.
Y/N sucked in air, heart pounding against her chest. There was no turning back now. “I-I’m in love with you, Bucks... and they all knew it. I tried to play it off as them just being jealous of my best friend being a guy but... I’ve always known I was in love with you. Even the girls knew,” she sighed, thinking about how Nat and Wanda were so relieved to finally hear Y/N admit she may have feelings for the soldier.
Bucky suddenly felt incredibly lightheaded. He searched her expression for any sort of sign that she was lying, but she sounded so genuine. “Y-You can’t,” he told her softly. “Not me.”
(Y/N) felt defeated, her heart was falling every second, “Because you don’t love me back,” She stated softly and Bucky’s eyes looked like they would pop out of his head.
“No! Of course I’m in love with you, doll, who the hell wouldn’t be?” He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. His shoulders fell from his normally straight posture, eyes dropping to the floor. “My heart’s been yours since the first time you smiled at me. But what could I give you? I’m an old man, I don’t understand anything you grew up with, anything we’re going through right now. Not to mention the obvious,” he scoffed, closing his eyes slightly. “I couldn’t live with myself if one day I snapped back and you were scared of me.”
(Y/N)’s heart was in turmoil. On one hand, he had just admitted he loved her too. Her heart soared at the thought of them being in love, at having a chance to be with her best friend. And then it fell. Bucky was stepping away from her, as if distancing himself would do anything. “I can take care of myself,” she said firmly, frowning at him. “Do you really love me?”
Bucky looked at her with a sad smile, moving to sit on the armrest of the couch. “With everything this broken body has.”
“Then kiss me,” she demanded, surprising herself with how confident the bold statement sounded.
Bucky stared at her for a moment, his fears and his feelings mixing together. He was in such turmoil, watching as she stepped closer moving to stand between his legs. “Doll, I-”
“Do you not want to?” She asked quietly, watching his eyes. She needed to know how those lips felt on hers, if the spark that she had fantasized about was real.
“Of course I want to-” He insisted, searching her earnest eyes. “But what if-”
“Then kiss me, Sergeant.”
Bucky watched her for a moment, deciding that this was the one moment that he got. Steve told him that he deserved to be happy, especially after everything that happened. Did he? Did Bucky Barnes, a trained assassin that became a murdering tool deserve to be happy? He stared at this woman standing in front of him, a glow on her skin after such a passionate confession, eyes fiery with confidence and demand.
“Fuck,” Bucky muttered to himself. He stood up swiftly, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her to him. And he did it. He kissed her. His lips eagerly pressed against hers, her arms finding their way around his neck in an attempt to pull him closer.
It was everything the two of them had dreamed of and more. Y/N thought about all those people who said you know it’s love when there’s sparks flying. The comical idea of fireworks off in the background played in her head as his lips moved along hers. It was magical, it was fantastic, it was everything.
The two pulled apart for a moment, eyes fluttering open to see each other, to make sure that this wasn’t just a dream, “I really really like you, Bucky Barnes,” Y/N whispered against his lips, pecking them again gently.
Bucky smiled, brushing her hair from her face as he tried to bring himself back to earth. There was no way a girl like this wasn’t an angel, he had to have been brought to Heaven or some etherial plane,“I really really really like you too, Y/N Y/L/N.”

Triple Threat, Chapter 1 (Sequel to Trust)
Summary: Darcy and Loki were enjoying their life, still annoying the Avengers. But one day, Loki from another timeline appears. After causing some mischief, he tells them that Jane is compromised with the aether. And he needs their help.
Now Darcy not only has TWO Loki’s to deal with, but also a deranged and tortured Jane who’s much more powerful than she should be.
But they have to find her first.
Tumblr media
Darcy was late. Ohhh so late.
She ran as fast as she could out of the compound with her bag over her shoulder, Thor, Tony, Natasha, Bruce and Loki were waiting at the Bifrost site.
‘Sorry! I’m sorry! I couldn’t find my contacts and got up late.’ She said out of breath as she slammed into Loki’s side, he slipped his arm around her waist to steady her.
It had been almost six months since Loki and Darcy realised they couldn’t love anyone else. Although, whilst they tried going on proper dates together, they found it wasn’t really them. The whole romance thing.
The Avengers didn’t really know what to make of them both. Loki and Darcy didn’t like it when they were called boyfriend and girlfriend, and to the team they were just like they were before. Mischievous and a bit annoying. But the team knew that no one else would get a look in at either of them now, that was for sure.
Did Darcy love Loki? Yes, she did. She wouldn’t ever hesitate to say she did. And Loki felt the same. They already had a strong foundation built together. Had they added very regular sex to the mix? Hell yes! Did Loki want to kill every man that even just looked at Darcy in a flirtatious way? Of course!
But they were comfortable and happy with what they were. Whatever it was.
‘You’re late.’ Loki drawled.
‘Well, someone failed to wake me up!’ She looked up at him, narrowing her eyes.
‘I’m not your alarm clock, it’s not my duty to wake you.’
‘It is when you’re the reason I was up most of the night. I was walking like John Wayne when I got up. It would’ve been polite to at least wake me.’ She huffed.
‘Eww. Too much information!’ Tony said as he pulled a face.
Loki just looked very smug.
‘Exciting night, huh?’ Natasha smirked at Darcy.
‘Hell yeah!’ Darcy grinned.
Loki chuckled and squeezed Darcy’s side, just as Thor called for Heimdall to open the Bifrost. Whisking them all up to Asgard.
Asgard and Midgard were working together, sharing science and technology. Tony and Bruce were able to take their inventions to completely new levels, while Asgard learned a thing or two from the scientist mortals.
So trips to the golden city were quite regular. Darcy went along whenever Loki went. Frigga was always so happy to see her, even Odin was starting to warm up to her, too. He was also trying with Loki, attempting to make amends for not being a great father. Loki didn’t make it easy, but Darcy kept telling him off and told him to try and at least be civil.
When they arrived, horses were waiting for them on the Bifrost. Tony and Bruce couldn’t get used to riding the horses, they were worse than Darcy had been her first time. They stuck to a very slow walk and took forever. Natasha was a natural rider, which didn’t surprise Darcy or Loki.
Darcy ended up having a favourite horse, a lovely grey mare, she was a gentle giant. Loki always helped her up, often flinging her too far so she would fall off the other side. That would usually end up with Darcy withholding sex for a day or two.
Luckily, he didn’t do that this time. He winked at her as he got onto his horse and the two went galloping ahead as normal. Thor and Natasha raced up after them with Tony and Bruce slowly lagging behind.
‘Hey, Birger! How’s it going?’ Darcy asked when they reached the stables and Birger was on duty just outside.
‘Good morning, Darcy.’ He took hold of the reins for her while she dismounted. ‘You’re getting better at riding, I see.’ He grinned.
‘Yeah it’s getting easier. Soon I’ll be bale to beat this one’s ass.’ She smirked and motioned to Loki who came up beside her.
Loki poked her side playfully. ‘Unlikely.’
‘You never know, My Prince. This mare is one of the fastest in the stables.’ Birger laughed.
Loki narrowed his eyes at Birger and then Darcy. ‘You’re turning Birger to the dark side. Stop!’ Loki put his hand over Darcy’s face with a chuckle.
Birger took Darcy and Loki’s horses from them, just as Thor and Natasha caught up with them. They knew the other two would take forever, so the four of them went inside and headed straight for the banquet hall.
Sif and the warriors three were there. They were pleased to see everyone, more so Thor. But Sif had a soft spot for Darcy, they got along well after they first met when Darcy and Loki visited for a week. Sif was secretly giving Darcy some fighting lessons, she wanted to surprise Loki.
Darcy had remembered when Jane told her about Sif, how she seemed stuck up and rather snippy with her. But Darcy had a feeling it was because Sif had a crush on Thor. So of course she would have been jealous of Jane.
‘Where’s the science dudes?’ Sif asked as everyone sat down to eat.
‘Probably still halfway across the Bifrost.’ Loki smirked.
‘Perhaps we should get them a carriage next time. Or take one of the ships.’ Thor suggested with a mouthful.
‘What are they hoping to achieve this trip anyway?’ Darcy asked as she filled her plate up with various meat and vegetables. She LOVED the food on Asgard.
‘Weren’t you listening in class?’ Loki rumbled, raising his eyebrow at her with a playful smile.
‘I was probably too busy staring at your ass.’ She shrugged.
Loki laughed while the others rolled their eyes.
‘I believe they’re hoping to finally get some of the magic from the healers into some kind of containment, so they can take it back home and study it properly. Change into something we can use. It would help speed up healing so much.’ Natasha said.
‘At least she listens in class.’ Loki teased Darcy, who then proceeded to stick her tongue out at him.
‘So childish.’ Loki tutted at her.
By the time Bruce and Tony joined them, the rest of them had stuffed themselves full and went to their chambers to get unpacked.
‘I’m gonna hang out with Sif while you are doing science with the others.’ Darcy said to Loki once they were sorted in his chambers. She was tying her hair up in a bun at the mirror.
Loki walked over to her and slipped his arms around her, resting his chin on top of her head as he looked at her in the mirror.
‘What do you two get up to together? Hmm?’ He asked.
‘Girl stuff.’ Darcy shrugged.
Loki raised an eyebrow, not entirely convinced. But he took her to meet Sif before heading off to the healer’s room himself to meet Natasha, Tony and Bruce.
As soon as Loki was out of sight, Sif took Darcy outside to the training area. She kitted her out with some basic armour, a shield and a sword.
‘Have you been practising the steps?’ Sif asked as she took out her own sword.
‘Yep. Well, whenever Loki is out of the way.’
‘Have you heard from Jane lately?’ Sif asked when they started doing some simple blocking moves, Darcy was able to step away and use the sword or shield to block any attacks from Sif.
‘Nope, nothing. It’s like she’s just vanished off the face of the earth.’ Darcy sighed.
‘Weird. I thought she was in love with Thor, she always seemed head over heels for him when they visited. Have you asked Heimdall to check in on her?’
‘Nah. She was such a bitch towards me and Loki ever since I was kidnapped by him in the first place. It’s up to her to come to me, if she wants to make amends.’ Darcy then took a jab towards Sif, surprising the female warrior and hitting her chest armour. But she was impressed.
‘Ohh, sneaky. You’ve been practising more than just your steps.’ She grinned.
‘Sure have!’ Darcy said triumphantly.
‘When are you going to show Loki your new skills?’
‘Tomorrow. I want to surprise him by asking him to teach me some moves. Speaking of which, can we work on tackling? I want to try taking him down.’ Darcy said as she stopped to catch her breath for a moment.
Sif laughed and put her arm around Darcy’s shoulders. ‘You really think you’ll be able to knock Loki down?’
Darcy shrugged. ‘I’m hoping the element of surprise will help me.’
‘Good luck with that. Loki is the champ of deception and he is NOT easy to take down, even though he doesn’t look very strong.’ Sif said.
‘Tell me about it. He can lift me with ease with one arm, uses me for weightlifting practice.’ Darcy huffed.
‘Sounds just like the old Loki really is back.’ Sif laughed.
‘Did he hang out with you guys when you were little?’ Darcy asked, they took a seat on a bench for a while to chat.
‘Not often. He was more into books and his magic. A bit of a loner. But I guess we didn’t help the fact by teasing and making fun of him, he was Thor’s little brother, that’s how we saw him. I feel bad now, knowing about his true heritage and everything he’s been through. But there were times his mischievousness shone through and he would join in sometimes.’
Darcy nodded. ‘He did tell me that he struggled because you would all fight with brute strength more than anything. While he prefers more skilled combat, using his magic and tricks.’
‘He is a highly skilled sorcerer, always has been after Frigga’s teachings. I think in a way, we were probably more intimidated by his skills than anything, which likely made things worse. There aren’t many people like him out there.’
‘There certainly isn’t. Which is probably a good thing, one Loki is enough to deal with.’ Darcy laughed and hopped back up to her feet. ‘Come on, let’s fight!’
-
That night, Darcy was getting ready for bed.
‘Hey, Loks. Can you poof me up my toothbrush? I forgot to pack it.’ She said as she rummaged through her bag.
‘Already in the bathroom.’ Loki said, he was in bed already, reading a book.
When Darcy headed into the bathroom, she smiled as she saw it was indeed there. Next to Loki’s in a little cup by the sink.
‘I used it to clean the toilet when we arrived.’ He called through to her when she started brushing her teeth.
Darcy popped her head round the door to look at him, brush sticking out of her mouth. ‘Yeah? Well I used yours to clean my ass. So guess that makes us even!’ She grinned and disappeared to the sink again.
Loki rolled his eyes and chuckled. ‘You can be so disgusting sometimes.’ He said loud enough for her to hear.
‘Right back at you!’ She shouted through.
He had just put his book down when Darcy came through to join him in bed. She jumped on top of him, he chuckled and let out a fake oomph.
‘Have you put on a little weight?’ He asked as he poked her sides.
‘Hey! That’s not a very nice way of flirting.’ Darcy scowled at him.
Loki smirked and ran his hands up and down her upper arms, squeezing her biceps. ‘You’ve got more muscles…’ He hummed. ‘Why have I not noticed this?’
Darcy rolled off him to the side. ‘Maybe because you’re too focused on other aspects of my body.’ She grinned and started un-buttoning her pyjama top, hoping to quickly get his mind off her new muscles.
‘Mmm… indeed.’ Loki purred and rolled on top of her.
