Calcified Cage.

Yan Bucciarati x F Reader x Yan Fugo.

A glimpse into a "bad end" from Scarlet Ribbons.

Warnings: Yandere themes, unhealthy relationships, implied power imbalance. Word count: 1.5k.

Pannacotta Fugo knew on an intrinsic level that nothing good was to come from this private meeting with Bucciarati.

For someone who prefers to make judgments on empirical merit, this odd bout of premonition felt uncharacteristic, further adding to his unease. For all intents and purposes, it shouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary. Bucciarati often consulted him in private over various Passione concerns.

In private, yes, but never in the total seclusion of his humble home along Napoli’s outskirts.

Fugo can count the number of times he’s been here on one hand. Normally, if Bruno needed to discuss an issue with Fugo, he’d ask him to stay behind after the gang finished eating their meal at Libeccio. The mixing of business and home life is considered taboo in this profession. Although Bucciarati is a bachelor who lives by himself, Fugo figured that he adhered to this unspoken virtue on principle alone.

When Fugo finishes reading the letter in his grasp, it’s no longer a mystery why his leader has taken these precautions. The paper trembles like a leaf in the wind, Fugo’s grasp on it weakening.

“You understand what this means, don’t you?”

Bucciarati’s voice sounds far away, despite his position a few feet across the table. Ringing resounds in Fugo’s ears, quiet at first, yet building in an all-consuming crescendo. The melody it weaves is melancholic at its core. A tragedy cast by the indifferent divine, thrusting him into the spotlight, where he stumbles through his lines as a lead character.

He has to tell himself to breathe.

Inhale.

For if what’s written crawls into reality—

Exhale.

—He’ll no longer have a reason to.

Fugo downs a glass of water his host generously had the forethought to provide. His fingers grip the rim tight enough that his knuckles nearly turn as white as his complexion.

“Are you asking for my legal counsel?” he manages to get out. There’s a rasp in his voice that he can’t hide, regardless of his best efforts. He can feel his collected mask melting from his face like wax on a candle. There won’t be any welding it back into place once it’s gone. It’ll require time to mold one in its predecessor's likeness — time he most certainly doesn’t have.

“No,” Bucciarati gives an answer he somehow already expected. “I want to hear your personal opinion.”

“My… personal opinion? Is that really necessary?”

“It is.”

It shouldn’t be. This is about as black and white as a dilemma can get. Trying to mix the colors on a palette to form gray would be impossible; a fool’s wish. The shades are so diametrically opposed that he’d sooner find success in combining oil and water.

His esophagus burns like he’d just drunk hard liquor instead of water.

“This is… good,” he fights back a wince at the wooden delivery, “For— for her, I mean.”

Something tells him that even if he had put on the performance of a lifetime, Bucciarati still wouldn’t have believed him.

“For her,” Bucciarati echoes dryly.

Fugo inwardly curses his clumsy word choice. There’s no point in concealing his cards, he may as well have just laid them all out for Bucciarati’s viewing pleasure. He loosens his tie. The quiet intensity radiating from Bucciarati is suffocating. He’s reminded then that while he greatly cares for and respects the man sitting across from him, Bruno Bucciarati is, at his core, a mobster.

And there’s nothing more dangerous than a mobster who feels his family is under threat.

You are, in essence, the heart of Bucciarati’s ragtag team.

This letter is proposing to transplant you into another body. An objectively healthier body.

To do without you would be to live as a dead man walking.

Fugo feels the phantom pain as if his chest cavity was being split in half by spectral hands. No anesthetic, no scalpel. Just raw, brutish force. Your nonsensical questions he pretends to find irritating are his veins. The blueberry pancakes dutifully arranged in a smiley face on his birthday, the arterioles; how you reach for his hand in crowded areas so as not to get lost, the capillaries.

You are snowball fights and hot cocoa in the winter, beach trips and shared gelato in the summer.

(“I can’t ever decide which flavor I want,” you’d lament, wilting all the while. It never took long for you to blossom again. “I know! Fugo, get this flavor, and I’ll get this one. That way I can try both!”

He’d sigh and pretend to consider it as if he hadn’t made up his mind the second you smiled at him. “Fine. I’d rather not hear you complaining if you ordered something you don’t like, so… just this once.”

“Just this once,” you repeated.

He’s never turned down your request in the times you’ve asked since).

Bucciarati leans back in his seat. He crosses his legs, folds his hands onto his lap, and smiles. Fugo is so put off by this shift in demeanor, the dissonance both perplexing and unsettling him. He sets the damning paper down for the temporary reprieve straightening it out provides. It points west, toward the window behind Bucciarati, where the sun’s final rays for the day crawl through.

“You love her,” Bucciarati says it as casually as one describing the weather.

Fugo’s entire body goes numb.

“... I do.”

“Do you love her enough to make her hate you?”

He’s been on the defensive throughout this entire interaction. He’ll allow himself one retort, one provocation.

“Do you?”

The softening of Bucciarati’s expression says it all.

“We shouldn’t be having this conversation if I didn’t.”

Right. Fugo isn’t sure if this is a conversation so much as it is an interview, his most pivotal test since joining Passione’s ranks. For once, he didn’t need to study. Passing with flying colors isn’t the issue. It’s deciphering the purposefully cryptic manner that Bucciarati has been conducting himself that poses an obstacle.

However, when he stares into Bucciarati’s resolute eyes, he thinks he might be starting to crack the code.

The promise he made to himself to reprise his role of an obsequious soldato is broken as easily as it was made.

“Forgive me for being blunt, Bucciarati,” he means it too, “But what exactly are you getting at here?”

“I won’t be able to conceal this for long.”

Nausea swirls inside him and bile claws its way up his throat. He swallows it down, despite how dry his mouth feels.

“The way I see it, we have two choices,” Bucciarati takes a deep breath. Pausing like this must mean he doesn’t savor the flavor of what he’ll say next. “Her happiness or ours.”

It’s debt that brought you into Passione and debt that’ll keep you here. Fugo considered how you were taken advantage of in such a desperate position truly unfortunate. Cruel, even. The offer of a loan that’d take considerable financial strain off your family. You didn’t know to look for jargon that’d increase the interest rate to something unholy, Passione was clever like that.

The worst mistake of your life is what led you to be the best thing in his — and so many others would attest the same.

However…

You are bright, but even the most radiant light is destined to flicker.

Living under the same roof as you for two years has taught Fugo much. He sees it, how you hesitate to take the phone when he tells you your parents are on the line. He hears the telling hitch in your voice when you spin another falsehood about why you can’t come home for the holidays again this year. He feels the wetness on your pillowcase when he goes into your room to retrieve a book you borrowed from him.

Your debt is what shackles you here and this letter is offering to break the chains.

You've successfully won over many key individuals during your tenure. The would-be benefactor who penned this letter — Signore Conti — had deep influences and even deeper pockets. His wife had taken a particular liking to you during a bodyguard assignment. She must've caught wind of your predicament somehow and beseeched her husband to intervene.

Fugo sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "There's really no other way?"

"I'm open to suggestions, Fugo."

Questioning Bucciarati's resolve is just a weak attempt to stall for time. For Fugo to still be sitting here, even entertaining the possibility of snuffing out your future for the sake of maintaining his, he must've already made up his mind. The mere implication of Bucciarati's designs would've inspired righteous anger in most — not this internal weighing of pros and cons Fugo is neatly arranging on a scale.

"... We'll need to handle this delicately," Fugo says. His stomach feels like it's turning inside out. "We can't outright reject an offer like this from such an influential figure, it'd be considered an insult. Accept it on her behalf. Then... to ensure she can't go anywhere, I'll reach out to our contact in the bank and have her account frozen."

Bucciarati steeples his fingers. "It's a start."

That night, innumerable plans are formed, with you unknowingly starring as the centerpiece.

No matter how cruel, how unfair, it is silently agreed upon that you are their lifeblood, an organ essential to their survival.

And a heart cannot remain in place without the bones that make up its cage.

Greetings, fellow adventurers and dice hoarders! It's Lambert from URWizards here, your resident dice designer and conjurer of gaming wonders. 🧙‍♂️✨

I'm absolutely stoked to take you on a little journey deep into the heart of our latest creation – a dice set inspired by the ferocious beauty of a volcano's wrath. 🌋

Let's embark on this tale of craftsmanship and elemental passion:

An Idea is Born

We scoured through a mountain of volcanic eruption videos and photos, and even though I've never ventured to an actual volcano, these materials made us believe that a volcano holds an infinite inner strength. It's much like most of us, right? Perhaps we haven't had our momentous eruption yet, but that inner flame and the dreams of our childhood are still burning bright, aren't they?

Molding the Myth

After poring over a volcano's worth of materials, my colleague and I have chiseled out the base molds for our dice set, each with the distinctive pattern only Mother Nature could etch. Varied as the layers of the earth, these textures stretch from peak to base, a hallmark of the great outdoors on a miniature scale.

But don't let the rugged exterior fool you. Like fitting square pegs in round holes, we've ensured that these designs hold the same density as the resin they'll marry, because in the world of D&D, balance isn't just a virtue; it's the name of the game.

Igniting the Palette

After a dozen splattered trials, we finally got the hang of bringing our volcanic dice to life – and let me tell you, it's as delicate as defusing a bomb with a feather.

You see, my hands became a living canvas, often speckled more than a Jackson Pollock knockoff. While painting, one overly enthusiastic stroke and the pigment would go rogue, flooding into canyons we never meant to explore.

Sure, real lava doesn’t play by the rules – it flows where it pleases – but here in the URWizards’ workshop, every stream of molten color is plotted like it’s got a GPS tracker on it.

But we nailed it! Each fiery path now sits exactly where we wanted, a testament to our ‘control the chaos’ mantra. The end result? Dice that look so hot, they could melt your face off – in a good way, I promise! That night, I was so jazzed up, sleep didn’t stand a chance.

Casting the Core

The last hurrah in our dice-making shindig is the resin pour – sounds easy-peasy, right? But hold onto your hats, because we're not just making dice; we're birthing miniature volcanoes here. We're going for that ‘just erupted’ vibe, aiming to bottle up that smoky after-party glow that lingers like the best kind of rumor. The goal? To have that smoggy dance, twirling up with the magma like it's auditioning for a spot in the air ballet. 🌋✨

WIP Wednesday!

Heya! Since I've seen others take part in it, figured I might as well. So WIP Wednesday it is! Showcasing what I've worked on during the week and talking about art as a process. It's both to help fight perfectionism and to help myself see that, even when I feel like I haven't got anything done, I'm still doing something!

So first things first! This week, on Monday, I finished a piece that I already posted (also on Monday).

In general, I think I'm very happy with this piece! I've been figuring out how to best get the shape of a creature's face right when all you have to work off of is side profiles, really. And I think I'm learning. Something that helps a bunch is using shapes to figure out where everything goes before starting to mold the actual face.

I feel like I could have gotten a bit more experimental with the shading, but I'll leave that for another piece ig!

I also worked on the lines for this on Monday!

It's a personal piece of my fursona that I've been slowly working on on the side of commissions as warmup! Generally I'm just starting to be really happy with he design of it, though I'm still debating about the exact shades of color to use in the palette. Hence why it's still a work in progress.

I slapped the colors on on Tuesday as placeholders.

This one I'm feeling the most uncertain of. it's a commission piece that is a small file size for reasons that are obvious considering the use of it, but the pixelation does bother me. I think I might just make it bigger to start off and then scale it back down again in the end, but it feels like wasted effort considering how far I already got. But oh well.

Lastly, there's this!

A sketch for a commission piece on Flight Rising! Ridgebacks are funky creatures for sure, and another case of only really having side profiles on site. So this was a lot of improvising.

I'm pretty satisfied with it personally, but I'll still be contacting the person who this is for about whether they like this angle or not. If given the green light, I'll start sketching all the apparel on top. :3

So yeah! That's my progress report from the week so far, I suppose! Happy to have a nice drive for art again, December was ROUGH. And obviously I've been doing a lot of writing on the side as well thanks to a certain roleplay server, hehe (thank you to the people in it, so happy to be a part of the community!). <3

Half angel reader? BET! I like to think they have the same/similar power buffs as Dante (accelerated healing, strength, ect) but would they have an equivalent to Devil Trigger? Would could they turn into? Also which basis of angels would like to use? Like the scary biblical angels, the pretty ones in old art, or based in a game that has angels (my mind goes straight to Bayonetta and its lore)

Notes: *bayonetta's voice* Morning! Yeah, that's me finally answering this, um, request? It is more like an headcanons post, so here I brought y'all some headcanons of my own of what and how angels/half-angels would be in DMC Universe. It took me, at least, months and months of researching because goddamnit- it doesn't looks like, but angels have so many informations about them from Christian to Abrahamic religions, yet I think most of my hcs here came from Christian concept with a mix of DMC Universe, I think. I hope I don't offend anyone with this, btw.

So! Let's rock! Thank you for requesting and enjoy the experience as much as you can! (Again, this is more of an general hcs post, I'm just adding this 4Dante gif bcs it's somewhat I aimed to, y'know, relate + I love 4Dante with all my strength <3)

✦ Sidenote/To start off: Angels in the Devil May Cry universe do not "exist", they're treated like mythological beings and are mentioned throughout the whole series frequently. The DMC wiki suggests that demons once were angels, then there's The Fallen on DMC3 whose appearance is very angel-like and their description says they were in Heaven once. There's also The Seven Deadly Sins — said explicitly that they fell from celestial grace — Lucia's DT, the Angelo Knights (although they're demons but "Angelo" is the Italian word to angel, anyways you got the deal) and many more. I personally believe something happened to them, like, all of them fell and turned into demons, they're hiding somewhere or they were purely extinct… Also, this post is an open-one, that means y'all can reblog and add another headcanons of your own as much as you want!

These celestial creatures and their descendants match with the demons in general abilities such as superhuman strength, speed and durability, healing regeneration, and elemental control. However, there are facts that differentiate them from the infernal creatures, and they are:

Mortals faithfully believe that angels are humanoid beings of ethereal beauty with a singular and grandiose pair of wings. Depending on their placement in the angelic hierarchy, they range from human-like bodies to the most animalistic ones, and those that are "equal" in having a human shape are indeed heavenly beautiful. As for their wings, an angel can have one or more pairs of wings — again, all according to their position in the Celestial Spheres.

Contrasting with the demons' dark color palette, they have a more loaded palette of light tones such as white, blue and gold and in certain cases, brown. In their Angel Trigger, their bodies may or may not evolve further from their humanoid and animal-like molds with a kind of armor made of angelic stone that makes the most "human" angels vary between female and/or male silhouettes, their halos are on display and their faces take on a texture similar to a marble sculpture and do not move as they speak and express emotions; they're also able to control elements such as fire — restricted only to seraphim —, lightning, nature and ice.

As stated before, their ATs are usually able or not to evolve their basic bodies. For example: the cherubim are large and leonine, when they have the Angel Trigger activated, they become a triple combination of angel, eagle, a human head and four pairs of wings of divergent sizes. Seraphim, with a body that merely resembles a human one and with elements of fire for their clothing, become extensive flaming serpentine figures with six pairs of wings.

Angels are literally cold-blooded. Their natural icy blood differs from the warm blood of demons so they can withstand the lower temperatures of high reliefs, cold weather environments, and Heaven itself. Still, it's not a total benefit to the hybrids as thanks to their human half, they constantly need to be warmed up when exposed to these low temperatures for too long.

The halo of angels is made of light and a part of their soul, as it is what carries their identity according to their function in their respective Celestial Sphere, going from the most detailed to superior positions — seraphim, cherubim, thrones — to the simplest for lower positions — principalities, archangels, common angels. Halos, when exposed, can make the angel vulnerable to greater amounts of damage and in extreme cases on a battle, lead them to death.

All hybrids have only one pair of wings, regardless of which angel they descend from. They can measure between 5 to 8 meters in length and the color of their feathers can be entirely white or have brown, golden, silvery or bluish shades. Although they can be summoned at will, they only appear when a hybrid "matures" — around fourteen or fifteen years old —. It's not a pleasant process, the wings don't magically appear, they literally rip the flesh off the back and break some rib bones. Due to the high amount of damage, not all hybrids survive during the appearance of the wings, and those that have resisted the pain are able to regenerate in around two to three hours.

The term used to designate the hybrids, "Nephilim", is extremely offensive since its concept comes from the fallen and impure angels who failed to hide their children from the supreme forces of Heaven. It also refers to the infernal giants that, by their angelic reminiscent appearance, were associated with the heavenly creatures. "Nephilim" is commonly used by demons as a way of offending and despising their children, a remembrance to the angels' hypocrisy.

Angels and Demons cannot touch each other when using their powers or activating their Triggers during battle. This is also valid for half-angels and half-demons. Once their opposing essences collide, accidentally or not, the sensation will be the same as having been fatally burned, the place hit will present purple and/or blue veins with a golden energy for the angels and another fuchsia for the demons.

hello sleep token tumblr community i. need some help

so long story short, i want to make rings for each of the vessels to (hopefully) give to them at the Munich show. i already have the ring bases, and i have vague ideas for Vessel and ii, but i'm having a bit of a hard time with iii and iv, thematically. if any one of you would be willing to help me out with ideas (even if vague), that'd be greatly appreciated :]

i'll put what i already have under the cut:

vessel: this ring base (i also have one with a smaller area to put things on just in case), probably gonna gild it/give it more color in some way. also planning to utilize this silicone mold for some resin bits (red and/or gold?) which will most likely frame something else. still gotta pick up the mold & check the dimensions of each piece to figure out if i want to/can use it

ii: silver ring base. for him i wanted to keep the design simple, so i was going to solder a wire frame together (shape undecided; maybe an eye?), fill it with glow in the dark blue resin, then attach that to the ring base.

iii: any one of these three ring bases (need help choosing there too LMAO), design itself undecided. probably a red/gold color palette similar to but distinct from Vessel's; alternatively something in softer cooler colors? really depends.

iv: either same ring base as ii or this one. design also undecided, and also the one i'm struggling with most LMAO

in terms of resources/materials, i am planning to do most of this with jewelry wire & resin. i am pretty limited in my budget and VERY limited in the variety of molds i can additionally purchase. i'm also leaving in like, a week, so i gotta figure this one out ASAP lol

What are some of your favorite ways to add personality to an interior room/space in your builds?

This is such a neat question thank you for sending! I will try to explain without sounding too much like a nonsense columnist, lol.

I've sat and pondered this for a while, and I think the way I approach a build is what translates as personality for those who enjoy my stuff. I think for me, my process always first involves understanding what the home or space is supposed to convey. Lately, that has been an exploration of transitional and timeless luxury. Every time I build and decorate, I do so with myself mentally standing within the room, waiting to interact with the space.

First I start with the structure, and I place a ton of emphasis on designing rooms that make use of light (because in real life, there is nothing more calming to me than being able to bask in a room bathed in the golden hour) and that alone can bring so much majesty and presence to a space. A good structure should be it's own living entity, while objects and fixtures enhance it, if the building itself doesn't speak or invoke an emotion, then I feel it lacks personality. Adding in some beams, or crown molding or paying a lot of attention to balanced proportions are good tips to improve physical builds.

Lastly, in terms of actual furnishing, I used to subscribe to the color palette everything must match theory. I've since moved on to treating each room as it's own space, and focusing on variation that compliments but doesn't match. I feel this has given a lot more maturity and depth to my most recent builds and I'm really enjoying exploring textures, patterns, and styles I wouldn't normally select. I hated checkered floors, for example, and now, I have fallen in love with them. Mustard wasn't a color I would consider to be nice, and yet, an injection of it in luxurious textures like velvet feels exciting and decedent in a room.

Sorry this was super long, and probably didn't answer the actual question because TLDR, I'm not sure what outside of obvious things like, placing sims personal in game photographs or adding clutter makes a space seem different.

Taleblr Characters as LPS Pets Part 1 (P.I.E.)

As inspired by @evilmagician430, here’s a list of what LPS animal I think various Taleblr characters would be!

As there are over 3,000+ pets, it’s kinda hard to narrow down which ones suit the characters, so I’ve included several. I’ll try to explain why I chose the ones I did, but some of them were purely just off of vibes so some may not have much of an explanation, oof.

Also, as everyone has a different take on the characters, I encourage anyone interested to share which pets you think the characters would be (I’m sure we’ll all have different answers lol). It’d be cool to see all the different pets everyone thinks suites the characters :3

Due to the sheer amount of characters within the Taleblr universe, I am most likely forgetting several characters. Sorry in advance, as my memory isn't the best ;-;

As there is a limit to 30 images per post, I've had to divide this post into several posts. I've kept them organized, though, and this one is for P.I.E. characters (in honor of P.I.E. Day). The Acachallas will be in the next post!

All of the images used are either from the LPS Collector's Wiki, or from ToySisters.com. The images with the blue backgrounds are from Toy Sisters, along with the 2nd image in Mary's section, and the images with the white background are from the wiki.

P.I.E. Characters

Johnny Ghost

So LPS #1953 fits Ghost the best, imo. The color palette suites him, and for whatever reason when I look at this pet I just think, “Yeah, that’s literally Ghost.” So there’s that. It's literally Ghost as a cat, idk what else to say. Looks like it is not a physical contact type of pet.

Purely off of vibes, but LPS #1142 could potentially work. Idk, just reminds me of Ghost for whatever reason (I think cause I saw a horse like this irl and it reminded me of Ghost). Looks like it'd bite you if you're pushing its buttons too much, so maybe best not to get on its bad list.

Jimmy Casket

As Jimmy is associated with blood and vampires, I think LPS #1470 is a good match! Besides, bats are pretty cool! I didn’t really see any other pets that I thought would work, though, so it’s just this one for Jimmy. An absolute gremlin. Would probably fly up high and dive-bomb unsuspecting pets.

Gregory Casket

When I think of Gregory, I think of dinosaurs and space. Unfortunately there aren't any dino LPS pets (unless you're counting the birds), but I did find two pets I think would work. LPS #661 works imo because it seems like a younger pet, and it gives energetic younger sibling energy. Wholesome little guy, must be protected.

I could also see LPS #1154 fitting Gregory. I tend to associate greens, blues, and oranges with him, and this gecko has all three. I headcanon that Gregory loves reptiles and amphibians, so I could definitely see him being one in the LPS world. Give it some paper and crayons, and it'll think you're great.

Johnny Toast

When I think of an animal that fits Toast, I’ve always associated him with border collies and huskies for whatever reason, so I think LPS #210 would work well for him! It looks like a dapper gentledog, too, so that’s a plus. Would make the best pancakes, too, I think.

LPS #785 fits, and I think the color palette works as well (there are some other LPS with the same mold that are dark blue, and those could work as well! One of them is LPS #1217).

Gavin Toast

I’ll be honest, I didn’t really see any LPS pets that just screamed Gavin to me, but I think LPS #523 could work! Looks like the type of pet to try to act aloof and mysterious, but secretly just doesn’t want others to get involved.

LPS #55 could also work, as that cat looks like it’d try to con me (that look says it all…). I think of Gavin when I see tuxedo cats anyway, so I guess that's another reason why I think this pet could work.

Jinny Toast

Johnny and Gavin’s sister Jinny is a slightly hard one, as I can not for the life of me remember if we’ve ever seen her in a video (she’s been mentioned a few times, though). So purely going off of headcanon, I think LPS #1209 works well for her! I associate purples with her for whatever reason, so this pet’s colors fit her to me. Seems like a pet with tons of ambition, who isn't afraid to speak what's on its mind.

LPS #815 suites her as well! Something about the dark gray mixed with the little bits of the light blue here and there gives me Jinny vibes.

Mary Toast

It was hard to narrow down what pet I think best suites Mary, as I found several. That being said, I think that LPS #347 works best. It looks like a confident, fun-loving pet, and its coloring matches what I headcanon her hair and eye colors to be :3

I could also see her being LPS #69 from the newest line. I just think it gives Mary vibes, idk. Sorry for the picture being so small; couldn't find one that was bigger :(

Fred Spooker

I have always associated Spooker with cats, so that’s why I think LPS #1521 is a perfect match! While the pet itself doesn’t automatically have the pink beanie, it did come with its set! As with the cat for Ghost, this pet just screams Spooker to me.

I could also see LPS #511 working for them, as I think the color palette and markings fit Spooker’s aesthetic!

While rather basic, I think LPS #2034 would also match, as I think of yellow tabbies regarding Spooker :3

Chris “Colon” Ghostie

There were a few pets (albeit repetitive) that I thought could work for Colon, but I ultimately landed with LPS #1602. This bear just makes me think of Colon a lot, and it seems like it’d be a cool pet to be around! Probably very logical as well (Chris is the most logical one of P.I.E. after all).

LPS #366 could work as well, mainly due to the color palette (I heavily associate purples, blues, and greens with Colon). Seems like a chill pet to be around. Would definitely want to hang out with it. Could have some interesting conversations with it, I'm sure.

Woah

Maybe because she is a ghost and floats around wherever she goes, bit I tend to think of birds representing Woah. Due to this association with birds, along with Woah's color palette, I think that LPS #1650 is a good match! This pet also gives me Woah vibes, idk. It seems polite but shy. (While not pictured, LPS #372 is a pet from the same mold that I think could fit Woah, too. It has brighter colors than LPS #1650, but it's still pink, blue, and purple.)

I could also see LPS #1660 fitting. It looks like a sweet younger sister who likes to be with others, but also gives me shy vibes. Definitely suits Woah, imo.

Johnny Boast

I don't exactly have a lot to say about Boast, oof. But for whatever reason, I think that LPS #1191 fits Boast a lot. It seems like the type of pet that's somewhat reserved but once you get to know it, it's got quite the sense of humor. A good vibes pet for sure. Would definitely want to be friends with this pet.

I could also see LPS #650 working for Boast. Idk, when I look at it it reminds me of him a lot, so there's that. I think it's the colors, but I'm not quite sure. This pet seems loyal and calm, which are attributes I see Boast having.

Johnny Roast

I didn't really know how to choose a pet for Roast, so I decided to choose his based off of vibes. With that, LPS #753 gives me major Roast vibes to the point that this is a case where this pet is literally just him. Can't really explain it, but yeah. Probably a prankster, and was definitely the class clown when he was in high school.

Dark Pit

Since there isn't a lot to go off of with Dark Pit when it comes to canon, I'm relying on my own take of the character for choosing what pet I think works for him. I usually associate blacks, purple, yellows, and blues with them, and that definitely influenced what pet I chose. That said, I think that LPS #2708 would work well for his angelic form. I wanted to stick to a pet that could fly, then I remembered that there was a LPS fairy line. This pet looks like a sparkle dog, and sparkle dogs are cool; Dark Pit is cool, so they get to a sparkle dog.

For his human form, or in this case animal form, I think that LPS #1748 is a good fit. This pet gives me vibes that it would be the type to constantly observe/watch other pets, which would fit along with an angel watching over humans (animals in this case). Like, you're at a party and this pet is just in the corner sipping punch and observing everyone. Mysterious. Totally not trying to see how it should interact with the others.

William Barricade

If I'm remembering things correctly, wasn't it stated that William Barricade used to be a member of the OG P.I.E. (like, when Boast, Roast, Pit, etc. were around)? I just remember that he was part of P.I.E. in the past, but he quit (not on bad terms or anything, though). Anyway, I think that LPS #61 suits him a lot. Idk why, but I feel like he'd definitely be a German shepherd if he was an animal. I don't really have much to say about him, sorry ;-;

Katrina

As there is very little info about Katrina in canon, my picks for what LPS pet she would be are probably going to be different than what's expected? (Idk what the general consensus surrounding her is, oof.) That being said, I think that LPS #2135 works well for Katrina, as its color palette makes me think of her and the pet gives me similar vibes to who Katrina is (at least according to my headcanons). This pet seems friendly, but it also looks like someone that I wouldn't want to be on bad terms with, you know? Seems really smart, but maybe a bit too kind to people for its own good, putting others before itself.

I also think that LPS #879 would be a good match, as it gives me vibes that it would be a friendly pet who has a good sense of humor, and also likes learning new things. Also, for whatever reason, I associate sheep with Katrina? I genuinely don't know why I do, but for as long as I've known of her I have.

Jenny Ghost

Idk what all to say about Jenny Ghost, but I honestly can't remember much about her? I know her and Jenny Toast showed up in 2 or 3 videos, but I can only vaguely remember 1 :( Anyway, I associate grays, pinks, and purples with her, as well as cats, so I think that LPS #1921 fits her well. Coincidentally this pet is from the same mold as the pet I chose for Johnny Ghost. This pet gives me sassy girlboss vibes, lol. Could probably have some of the most thought-provoking conversations followed by the most mind-baffling ones with this pet.

Jenny Toast

Like I mentioned for Jenny Ghost, I unfortunately don't really know a lot about Jenny Toast :( That being said, she seems like such a cool, fun person to interact with. They would probably try to get me involved in some wacky shenanigans, and I for one would probably be down to join. Anyway, I think that LPS #1676 fits Jenny Toast well! I associate her with purples, blues, and blacks, as well with dogs and rabbits. This pet also just gives me Jenny vibes. It seems very polite but also like a bit of a troublemaker. Very fitting of Jenny Toast, if you ask me. (This may be me misremembering, but wasn't Jenny slightly a prankster in the videos they were featured in?)

I can't upload the image of this next pet due to the 30 image limit on posts, but I think that the LPS Kohl's Rabbit could also work for Jenny! It's a white bunny with light blue accents, and it reminds me of Jenny Toast a lot for whatever reason.

ngl i mourn for kids now because holy shit the toys do not have the same amount of detail or paint or anything nowadays. (with some exception, like i have no clue how MGA sells lol dolls for 20 bucks with the detail involved) the designers do the best they can but there's only so much you can do with modular plastic molds and stickers. i had a way better my little pony castle when i was 6 than the kids get now. like ok look at this.

This was the flagship g5 castle playset. and they try with nice molds, modular pieces, and leaning into a design that doesn't need much paint, right? The interactive bits are fun. But compared to what we used to have...

the motherfucking g3 celebration castle. The river, steps, climbing flowers, trim, rainbow-- all of it is painted detail. The inside does go with mostly stickers but that moat piece in particular is lovely. I may grab some more examples but my point is, the designers are still good, it's just wayyy more expensive to get stuff like this manufactured nowadays and it's sad that I idolized someday working in a toy industry that just does not exist the same way at all anymore. And I get if you may prefer the new design since the old castle is a little younger-skewed, but my point is the level of detail here is completely different between the two sets and both were suppose to be the "fancy deluxe birthday/christmas present" option for their respective generations. More examples--

I wasn't born in time to have clamshell polly pockets, but like.

The 2000 jungle pals set. Almost everything is colored!! the immersion is so good and the fact that it's a little fold-out house its so fucking cute. The gradient on the leaf canopy. there are modular pieces but the painted details bring it alllll together.

I didn't have this one but the little trees. the chair. come on. come onnnn

The modern polly, this is the most expensive set listed on mattel's site right now. And everything is either a separate mold or a sticker and i dunno like they try and it doesn't look super bad but it's not at all as immersive. they seem to push the interactive/moveable pieces to try and make up for the loss of immersion but its not the sameeee :( not to mention im honestly not a huge fan of the way they're pushing this particular palette of purple/teal.

This is an older set, and it uses similar colors to much better effect. even with hardly any painted detail the objects they choose to populate the scene with are tailored to that chunky look. Imo if you aren't going to paint a piece, molded detail can be a double-edged sword. the door and furniture in the modern set look much more like just chunks of plastic to me compared to the little food court chairs or the shrub in this one, because the pieces do not call attention to details that seem like they should be colored. There isn't much paint on this one, but if the floor flowers or the ferris wheel were just one solid color it would definitely hurt the appeal ykno?

now, littlest pet shop. im gonna take a second to spotlight the REAL old lps toys before the bobblehead style really came about because I had these as a kid (had a relative with an antique shop, these were before my time and I was lucky) and they are. just. the small amount of painted detail paired with good color choice really makes these work (had to take some of these from ebay listings, it's hard to find good pics)

The duck pond. Painted details on the trellis!! and the magnetic wand you could use to make the ducks swim 🥺 The swan pond is even more beautiful

Even some of the less detailed sets from this era still have enough painted detail on at least one part to help it feel less like just a hunk of plastic.

I don't dislike modern toy design, but it makes me sad. And obviously, I don't know anything about the working/manufacturing conditions at play here and no painted detail is worth compromising on good conditions. It's just wild, looking back. Kids today don't know what they lost :/

A Touch of Deco Wall Set (BGC)

So there's this HSY wall in the masonry category, and it's in a some sandstone-colored swatches but the texture also looks a bit like wood??

Anyway, this wall is a touch of art deco, which hopefully works with a few different design styles if you squint a little. As with any wall I end up posting, this comes in two packages:

This was kind of a weird exercise in color picking for me! I tried to pick wood tones from the Seasons, RoM, and HSY windows, but of course with every new wood tone the swatch count increases exponentially. So this feels like my most limited palette yet, with only 8 colors for the base wall.

I hope there are enough neutrals that can fit into most rooms, but I couldn't resist a few bold colors. My first instinct was not to have any red swatch at all, but that seemed very imbalanced so I gave in and picked one. I'm still not 100% sure about it though.

Phantom Thief outfit breakdown: pt 4

This is a continuation of my previous post and series regarding my opinions on the phantom thieves' metaverse costumes, prompted by a poll by @waywardsalt. I will like all of these together as they're finished.

Akechi - Ann - Makoto - Futaba - Yusuke - Akechi 2

Next on the docket is Sumire, as her outfit is another I have very strong opinions on.

My main gripe with Sumire's outfit is that, by and large, its NOT her costume, as thus her idea of justice personified, its JOKER'S. The real-world reasoning for this is because she's the mascot and marketing character for Persona 5 Royal specifically and thus must match the promotional material, which is the thematic black and red, but it does drive me up the wall that this character, whose entire arc is learning to be and embrace herself and not cling to idealized versions of the people she loves as things to mimic and mold herself into, has a costume based entirely on another character's costume. This outfit tells me nothing about her except that she admires Joker and is probably romanceble.

Firstly, I would make efforts to incorporate an additional motif to her overall design inspiration. Her design is largely lacking them as it follows Joker's theme but lets go of many of his gentleman thief and Arsene Lupin inspirations in its desire to be more feminine. My preference is either for more fairytale/Cinderella motifs, to match her persona, or to add an element of the black swan from swan lake, as it would be a nice bit of foreshadowing to the way she's pretending to be Kasumi for confidence and validation, like how Odile impersonates Odette to charm the prince.

I would change up the leotard a bit. As it is, it's very basic, which I think is a disservice since we see her prettier leotards for competitions. I would add the skirt and some of the filigree decorations of her competition leotard, which only appears very briefly as Sumire mostly wears Kasumi's pink one instead of her own blue, and which provides some delicacy and a nod to her status as a gymnast to the outfit, as well as tying her to Cendrillon stylistically.

If you wanted to lean into the black swan motif, you could instead have the leotard incorporate feather embroidery or an edge that looks like primary feathers (the stiff ones, not loose like down).

I would also make the stockings a lighter color and make the ribbons on her shoes more obvious and climb higher on her legs. They are an interesting detail that gets lost against the similar color of the tights, which is really a shame, as they tie in nicely to her position as a rhythmic gymnastic specifically, which we can tell she is because her of her dance-like routines and the involvement of the ribbon over elements such as the bar or trampoline. Again, it would also play nicely into a ballet and specifically a swan lake theme. I also don't love the heels but I don't have anything specific in mind to replace them, so they can stay for now.

If you want a really big change, I would go with a color palette overhaul. If you incorporate more blues or pinks over the red, or the violet that's her literally code name, I think it would freshen her up and make her stand out a little more. Maybe you could even lighten her base color to a grey or a very dark purple if you really want to drift from game colors. I'd say go all the way and make the black elements white, but that wouldn't contrast well enough against Maruki's palace enough to stand out and would make her monochromatic in a way equally bad to the monochromatic she is now.

Overall, most of my problems with this outfit stem from the fact that it has so little of her personality (or even Kasumi's) and so much of Joker's for branding reasons, and think that the incorporation of another theme or a change in color palette would really do it some justice. If they had acknowledged that her outfit was modeled after Joker's and tweaked it during her second (true) awakening, I would have been happy with that, but they didn't. I rank her 9th place out of 10 outfits and a score of 2/10 overall.

here's my ranking of some of the playline eugene dolls because the lack of top tier eugene dolls is so sick and twisted...

#1: disney store 2020

i really like this face mold and screening! the best eugene doll the bar is in hell. there's still something missing but i'm not going to be fussy. though they're significantly better than some, i'm not sure if i'm enjoying the clothes 100%. i like the pattern they used for his doublet to make it movie accurate, but i believe they could've gotten different fabrics for it and the belt. though we should thank god day and night that the details aren't printed on a paper like fabric. this is five stars for modern doll standards... there should be a classic doll like him. a shame that we've never seen this doll again... he gets a reluctant 10/10 from me.

#2: mattel (old)

hate hate hate hateee that face mold + screening, fucking nasty. though he looks like he's gonna scam the fuck out of you so accurate for flynn rider i guess. why is he so high then if you hate him so fucking much you might ask. it's the clothes and his accessories. i really like that his doublet is movie accurate and (fake) leather. his belt is very detailed!! so is his satchel. like the boots, though it's kinda hard to fuck up the boots so not giving him any points for his boots. my only gripe is that his pants' aren't very great. should've been velcro or snaps instead of that elastic.. he's destined to give justin biebs circa 2010 but it's ok. can be fixed if you have trust in your sewing. also don't like that he has elastic hips.. he has GOLDEN ELASTICS tho. monster high ghouls.. eat your hearts out. 8/10. solely for how much i like his doublet and belt.

#3: older disney store variants

that hair naurrrr they didn't even bother with like carving some details. they couldn't get my man's visage right. his goatee is evil. the mold itself is fine, it's just the screening i don't like. clothes are mid :/ i don't hate them but i don't particularly like them. i definitely know at least 3 men that look like these dolls. not great but serviceable. 7/10.

4: mattel (new)

THEEEE QUALITY DROP! CLAP FOR THE QUALITY DROP! the printed on details?? the painted on pants????? with a bad face mold & screening combo? JAILLLLLLLLLLLLL!! i like the hair, the belt with the pouch and the boots though. old mattel slays hard and this one def can't hold a candle to him... but i prefer this color palette i guess.. he looks marginally cuter than his stock image irl tho. 5.5/10

#5: simba toys

he's just a little boyyyy !! wandering around the cityyyyy :3 his proportions are... interesting. but he's cute enough so he can get away with it. his clothes are ok. at least it's not printed on details. i only want this doll because i want to display him with my simba toys rapunzel. she looks so fucked up (affectionate) i love her. this eugene gets a 5/10. though he's also a 10 if you get it you get it sorryyyyy

#6: disney collection/disney store tangled the series

he is show accurate, no doubt. but the show's art style doesn't always work for eugene and in the doll form.. he's just not it 💔 i like the clothes tho. he looks like a parrot (affectionate). i also have personal history with this doll. this set with rapunzel is my bleeding wound. 3/10!

#7: hasbro tangled the series

a couple weeks ago, me and a couple friends went to this one japanese import store and it was selling some of the newer monster hunter figure builder blind boxes, and because one of those friends got me interested in blind boxes, i got one and pulled a sick looking astalos figure.

so i did a bit of digging on past figure builder sets out of curiosity and learned there’s a gogmazios one!!!

tokyo otaku mode showed it along side some other figures (shown above) and decided to do some more digging because goddamn i wanted gogmazios my beloved. since it’s from a long discontinued series (i’m assuming from around 2015-2016) i had to do a little more digging.

eventually i found someone selling it on ebay and ordered it, and this morning it came!!

(please ignore all the dust i had to find a place to put them for the pic that wasn’t full of the other stuff i own hhh)

there isn’t a lot of buildable figures for endgame g-rank elder dragons from monhun’s earlier years as far as i know (that’s definitely changed since we’ve got alatreon and gaismagorm in a couple). goggy’s the only one i found and this might be the only piece of official merch featuring gog but i may be wrong. regardless it’s really cool. of course it’s a small figurine from a blind box modeled after a heavily detailed creature so it isn’t as high quality as, say, the $100+ individual figurines of monsters, especially with all the removable bits, but it’s still really neat.

the lighting in the pic doesn’t do it any favors but the color of gog’s chest is pretty vibrant as well as the features. on their back are a few more bits of its body that normally aren’t that visible even when fighting it in-game, being these bumps with darker blue insides. idk how to describe them exactly. a cool design detail i’ve always loved about gog is how there’s weapons lodged in their back along with the dragonator often times warped due to the tar, but they’re also a bit more visible on the figure. the dragonator’s tip is a little droopy but i think that’s because of the aforementioned tar. again it’s a really cool figure. (idk if i just didn’t pose them correctly but the base seems a little small for them likely because it’s the same mold used for other bases. maybe they came with two initially but whoever was reselling only sent one so idk.)

semi unrelated but the other older figures are really cool as well and i may go hunting for a couple of them especially the shagaru one not just because i fucking love the magalas but because it’s much more vibrant than the one in volume 24 of the figure builders. both are based on different renders but his color palette in sunbreak is really washed out for some reason and me no likey.
