Because there's no Princess Aurora, without Briar Rose! 🌹

She was another kind of challenge, but a challenge nonetheless 👀 This time I wanted to stray from the usual sweet expression, and went more with a "bratty" one 😁

Problem is, when trying to achieve it, it's so easy to actually step into "evil smile" territory 🤣

This repaint was actually my second attempt, after the first one I decided to take a day or two to really study her mold, and finally get what wasn't working...In the end, I went the hard way, and partially resculpted her face, while afraid to ruin a LE head, I knew I wouldn't have been satisfied otherwise, go big or go home basically 😅

For the dress, I've mostly kept the original concept in mind, with the same colors I remember from the VHS (the palette of the outfit on the restored version is too gray for my taste, give me the cream, the turtle dove, the beige, the maroon!!), saving the tiny spinning wheel embroidery on the corset...it seems like this doll has been one big experiment from start to finish 👀

In the end, I love how she turned out, and most of all I'm glad I didn't give up on the expression, I really hate to take the easy way, I know it would have frustrated me too much to leave untouched 😵‍💫

Better make that kind of decision at the start of the process than at the end 🫠

My GDToys 97005 (Sesshomaru) Son Of The Demon Dog Repaint, so far. I am pretty happy with him, I just need to restyle his bangs, and then I'll be done with him (for now). I suck at tiny things, my hands are definitely getting shakier with old freaking age! I already had a terrible shaky hand, but holey freaking heck hole, it's like I put my hands on a full speed blender, instead of steadying them on a flat steady table!

My older than dust cellphone died, and my "current" phone's battery was drained, so I took these with an even older phone, and they are obviously museum quality photos. However, I am super excited to finally complete this, so I wanted to take photos as I ruined the doming process, as usual! It took just a few hours over the course of three days, to repaint him and only with acrylic paints, so no sealing in between layers, which is why I love acrylics. I didn't want to go too hyperplastic with him, because the head sculpt is not, and Sesshomaru is not hyper-realistic either. I wanted his demon markings to look a bit textured, kind of like birth marks or tattoos, rather than paint or make up. I am in love with this head, I hope I can get a second one. I feel he would make a gorgeous Alucard (Castlevania). I missed my chance when he first released to get one parted out, so I am hoping I'll be able to get a second head sculpt at a not too exaggerated price. I kind of sorely regret not trying harder to get a loose HS, now that I' think about it more seriously.

I just need to fix his bangs... those are going to be a pain in the gut-hole! DX

I saw @trillyke’s Monster High Doll post so of course I need to copycat her and post some of mine :))

Few years ago I started this new hobby where I repaint used dolls, mostly MH and Ever After High dolls, I love their unique face molds! I have few unfinished projects + a huge box full of MH dolls waiting for repaint, this is a very time consuming hobby but I hope I am able to pick it up in a future.

I do all my doll clothes, accessories, wigs, body modifications and repaints myself :))

The purple cat doll was originally MH Twyla doll, The one with the blue hair was one of the newer articulated Bratz dolls and the one with the cabaret outfit ( took me ages to sew that dress! ) is unfinished Ever After High doll, Blondie Locks I think she was originally.

So in a side tangent while waiting for my replacement Lila and making clothing for Pepper (and upset about yet another failed wig cap warping :T ) I have been working on this custom. I tried dying a Poppy Rainbow High Jr after taking off her undies with acetone and and sanding down the mold marks ummm it just didn’t turn out very well. Also, like the dye just really didn’t take well. Used 2 different bottles (pearl grey and charcoal grey) of Ryt Dye More and yeah, just didn’t take. So instead made a custom paint color and then went from there. Cut off her bottom lip, ears, toes, ect and now trying to fix the peeps and get a smooth look to her. Gotta still make her eyes, ears, wig (because there is no way I can reroot this girl) leggings, clothing, ect. She’s been my slow and steady project and very much a trial and error kinda doll, testing a lot of things with her.

I'm done with my GDToys Sesshomaru's "customizing." I might rework his bangs someday, in the not too far away future. I suck at styling my own hair, so it's no surprise I would suck at tiny headed 1:6 action figure's bangs. However, for now, I am super happy with him. There are many things that could be improved, but my shaky hands are not something that will be improving, ever! Lol! DX

My current cell phone's camera hates me, and I struggle with it as well as setting lights. These are terrible, there's so much noise. The other older than dust phone's camera, seems to want to make everything look washed out. However, this one adds so much noise and sh1t, for no reason. It's frustrating. I won't be getting a new camera. I want to, but I don't want to waste money when I know I suck at taking photos anyway...

Regardless of the suckyness, I am super happy with my customized Sessho! I felt like Sephy was my most beautiful 1:6 figure I owned, but this one is a very close second. Too bad I can't do it justice, painting wise, as well as photography wise. I suck! T___T;; I added a comparison, because a friend wanted to see the progress from the GDToys prototype, to the in-box factory paint apps, to my struggle to re-style his bangs. A one inch hair straightener might be too small for a human, but too freaking large for a 1:6 head sculpt's bangs! >.<;;
