what also infuriates me about shit like kosa aside from how it takes away freedom of speech is that the sites these ass backwards adults want already exist. kids virtual worlds like animal jam, club penguin, moshi monsters, wizard101, that stuff existed and in some ways continues to exist.
they’re moderated by actual adults, and the most harm that actually comes out of it is kids falling for scam links.
many of the sites that used to be popular are dead and that’s worse than i think people realize. because of ipad elsagate stuff they’re unable to compete.
i hate to inform every neglectful parent ever (because let’s be honest if you’re for kosa you’re against the idea of parenting) but social media is not safe for your kid nor will it ever be. if you want them to actually be safe online, these virtual worlds encourage safety surprisingly enough. teach your kid to identify scams, how to report people, when to quit having conversations with strangers, and if your child is contacted by a creep, then fucking report it. that’s straight up why online virtual worlds succeed since they’re made to teach this stuff.
your only alternatives are kids tv channels, video games aimed at younger demographics, or no internet period. don’t go and point fingers at places whose websites aren’t made with children in mind.
and if you have a teenager on the web then just teach them basic internet safety. it’s that fucking simple.
oh and a reminder to all parents out there: censoring the internet to make it “kid friendly” means you can’t talk about your political mumbo jumbo or bash the damn liberals or post crappy facebook memes or go one minute without some lankeybox tier garbage being shoved in your face. you’ll be begging for the old internet back :)

hello! my main is @elendsessor.
this is an incredibly nerdy blog mostly based on equally as nerdy stuff from the 90s to the early 2010s! i’ll only occasionally post something not related to that, but they’ll either be gifs relating to newer entries from long running franchises, or nintendo 3ds related things. i was born in the 2000s and have a heavy appreciation for that weird low polygonal ps2 graphics and the nintendo ds/3ds. i also love nicher stuff, fictional ecology, and monster focused games!!!
this blog runs on a queue, so don’t automatically assume i’m online nor don’t think i’m not going to reblog art pieces you want reblogged. if you need to message me to take down a post, please don’t expect an immediate response, but i’ll try to answer as soon as i can!

i try to keep my blog as organized as possible without getting super into specifics. the tag list may not get updated often but it has most of them :)

i’m personally not big on anything that includes nudity or, again, lots of gore, so don’t expect much to begin with. however, due to the raunchy nature of the 90s and 2000s, potential dirty jokes may work their way in. nothing explicit, though. same goes for gory stuff as i do reblog stuff relating to horror games and a couple horror manga here and there. don’t expect anything too out there or disgusting but please keep that in mind when browsing. if you want more clean stuff, i suggest both filtering any above tags and using the tag listing to see anything from non-horror franchises or some friendlier companies like nintendo.
i will reblog content for more mature rated games and manga, but not everything from mature material is explicit. if that still bothers you, again the tag listing is there.

tbh every monster-centric series should have a spin-off where you play as the monsters. i mean stuff like pokemon mystery dungeon and yokai watch blasters. let me beat the living daylights out of monsters while i make friends with other monsters as a monster. please.

hellblade glavenus is badass but the only thing keeping him from being the best glavenus variant is how satisfying acidic’s tail sharpen is. way too cool while pleasing stimuli. nobody can do it like him.

something i love about the original twewy is how the stylization is just a time capsule of the late 2000s. the edge, the fashion, that punk vibe to it all, it’s perfection.
rarely ever getting a view of the sky really helped i feel. mostly just the greys of shibuya, which helped a lot of color stand out, making the use super effective. i love it when things play around with colors like this.
and it’s all unapologetic too. for all the anime’s faults, the only thing it really changed with the style was cleaned it up a little, made it a little brighter, and updated the phones, but it still feels oddly 2000s for the most part. wished it embraced it more but i understand the changes.
i hope now that 2000s kids are almost all grown up there’s a lot more 00s appreciation stuff generally speaking yet it’s hard to top twewy in that regard.

ntwewy never really explained why rhyme got into hacking but i like thinking beat influenced her to
given how rhyme uses masculine terms when talking about herself + their parents seem to be against certain things as seen with beat, i’d assume they’re from a very traditional/conservative family where anything not often associated with traditional feminine roles is deemed too masculine. she’s sorta been branded as this golden child of the two, so she adopted tomboyish mannerisms that are passed off as a phase.
tokyo and what surrounds it (basically the entire kanto region) are very tech heavy so that could be part of why rhyme got invested but i think her time in the ug helped since the mere existence of it proves there’s a lot more going on in the region than she probably thought possible n hacking is just one way to see that other side.

discussing things twewy does well again and wanna say props to how there’s chubbier characters and that they’re treated like. actual people.
can’t recall if there’s any “bigger” characters in the og (if there are feel free to give them a shoutout!!!) but i think it’s important to acknowledge motoi and momoka’s inclusion regardless of their status as minor characters/npcs.
while obesity is a problem particularly in the western side, i think people forget that overweight people, be it in appearance or actual weight, have always existed. it’s sometimes caused by genetics, medical issues, medicine, and heck with actual healthy foods being more expensive than candy and fast food, it’s no wonder people who don’t have a lot of money end up having to eat unhealthy options. while i’m not saying a fat joke can’t be funny, a lot of them are incredibly mean spirited and are used to belittle them. its definitely gotten worse over the years not at all helped by those who got viral for eating a ton/being overweight and lazy.
japanese culture in particular has a tendency towards being harsher in general. like there’s a lot of body shaming and belittling those who are “lower” than others and i noticed how the inclusion of chubby characters is particularly rare, and whenever they are included, there’s always the characterization of them loving food and eating a ton and being unattractive. again jokes like that could be funny if it weren’t for how they’re actually used. obesity is definitely more uncommon in asian cultures it seems due to heavy discouragement but god i don’t think that justifies the behavior.
the fact that motoi’s character doesn’t have anything to do with food is amazing when the joke opportunity is definitely there. i mean, foreigner of potentially hispanic heritage, weight sometimes being brought into hispanic stereotyping, etc. and the one food related line he does have has nothing to do with weight. his character is treated like a character and his negative aspects aren’t stuff having to do with food. momoka’s just a shopkeeper wearing a lot of brightly colored apparel but there’s no comments made about her looking ugly, no attempt to make her intentionally unattractive, and heck she’s actually successful??? i mean aside from being a shopkeeper she does asmr content that, quote, “developed quite the passionate fanbase.” good for her!!!!!
bro the only character in twewy i’ve seen food jokes be done with is higashizawa and they’re not really jokes, more characterization in his dialogue, plus he’s buff af and the closest reoccurring joke with him is about the ram crotch.
imagine respecting people of different body types. crazy.
