Every time I think about how Traveler is still so attached to Mondstat even after all this time I feel sick. I feel numb. I feel nauseous. I feel AWFUL . This is sick and tiring and horrible and awful. Why are their ascension flowers near DAWN WINERY and Storm Terrors Lair and Windrise specifically. The three most important places in Mondstat. What. Do you want me to kill myself. And the way the Aranara describe them as being "children of the dandelion"????? HELLO????? The way in the Aranara quest too they're always reminded of Venti when they play the lyre... I throw up blood... And like Mondstat is still low-key the place that's most suspicious of them after all this time (see: Albedo's story quest) and the way they'll never be anything but an outsider no matter what they do... I want to explode.

I think I finally realized why I like Mondstadt’s characters so much better than most of the others, and it took a Razor line for me to understand. It’s their warmth.

The way they always seem so excited to see each other without reservations most of the time. The way that Klee immediately invited Bennett and Razor into her family without a second thought. The way Bennett ran all over Mondstadt trying to find Razor in order to help him through his problems, and Rosaria (usually the coldest character in Mondstadt) was willing to lend a hand once she saw how similar her + Razor’s circumstances were. The way Lisa set aside her laid-back ways to comfort Razor and help him process his feelings and Kaeya braved the Dawn Winery for the sake of another. The way Diluc immediately agreed to help and refused to let us leave without hospitality and Adelinde was happy to accommodate a few more places at her table.

Even outside of this event, Mondstadt has always felt like the nation where almost everyone is kind without restraint. There’s no undertone of transactions like in Liyue or overwhelming pressures like in Inazuma. Of course, that makes sense with those nations and I think it works well. But it just can’t replicate that feeling of welcomeness that I get when entering Mondstadt. The posters say to go to Amber SPECIFICALLY, the little personal notes at the Cat’s Tail as people are open with their problems, and Klee’s little buried ‘treasure’ is always just outside Mondstadt’s walls. It feels lived in and tight-knit, like a homely city that offers a light atmosphere instead of a darker cloud looming above.

im making so many posts abt his hangout but like its so deserved !! there is an insane amount of double meanings in his hangout and its sending me reeling!!

with the play ending the whole thing is basically to tell us kaeya is deciding to step away from the role he was designed to play in the story and he wants to live his life as a child of mondstat, until he dies there, and that he considers mondstat his home now. which is fun and all!! but then you think, if he said that he is to draw his last in a place far from home, but he considers mondstat his home, then that doesnt very much bode well for him does it?

one of my favorite things they decided to do is this little thing!!

and it seems so unassuming at first more like of a reminder that the improv was kaeya talking yeah obviously, but the choice of the wording being "not the prince's" instead of not qubad's or not the character's feels so telling to me.

like it feels like hyv is telling us "the entire monologue was nice and meaningful and all, but dont forget that it was kaeya speaking, outside of his role as a prince or a pawn or whatnot." and sort of implying that no matter what he says he can't really rid himself of the shackles of fate as he chooses to put it

I've been meaning to finish this for a hot second, but only recently did I get back around to it. I tried the 1/2/3 shadow method with this piece... can you tell? :'D

I decided to forgo the happier version because I was just in the mood to make angst apparently.

I played around with layer modes and even..... CURVES...... I've never used curves before so that was fun.

I imagine that what killed Evan (my name for Nameless Bard) was that he got distracted by the sky above him right after Decarabian's whirlwind walls were broken, and he looked up instead of in front of him. That gave a loyalist the means to shoot him down.

A brief moment of Freedom, only for it to be snatched away...
