Tumblr media
Idol Sehun x Actress Reader Word count: 3446 Genre: fluff Author: maari Warnings: Mentions of reader having a water phobia, themes like witches and rituals, probably some grammar mistakes Note: OH GOD FINALLY!!!! I was so excited to write this request that I ended up getting blocked with this one since last year 😫 I was confident but I don't know if it turned out as good as I wanted it to, but I liked it! Request: I'd like to make one for sehun x reader pls!! I've been watching busted and i really like the idea of having reader be one of the cast in busted alongside sehun. So like there would be scenes where they're both scaredy cats, but sehun still tries to protect her. So just sehun being all protective!! Some inspo could be in s2 ep 6 with the guiya village, and in s1 with the vampire thing. Like reader is scared with the supernatural stuff, heights, deep waters, but isn't afraid to still try soo cue the tears oop hahahah and sehun comforting her maybe??Umm, another request could be jealous sehun but like he doesn't know why he's jealous or their feelings are just starting to grow. So like it could be shown when there are cute male guests in the show haha and reader is like 😍And maybe sehun and reader just displaying their competitiveness (either them teaming up or against each other, up to you)  ⫷ Exo Masterlist

Season 4, Episode 1
The detective group is back, except for one person.
They met in front of the Sealife Busan Aquarium after receiving an anonymous message asking everyone to arrive at seven pm, when the aquarium is closed and without public. Everyone is confused because they don't know who is behind the message and why they’re there. The dimly lit street didn’t allow the group to notice an approaching figure.
Minyoung was the first to notice, she screamed and raised her hands to her head while the other detectives looked towards where she was doing it and the figure was revealed.
"Who are you?" Jaesuk asked, laughing nervously.
All detectives are looking at the girl, curious, confused and scared. Exactly in that order.
"One of you is missing." she changed the subject, looking at the five.
Jaesuk, Kwangsoo, Minyoung, Jongmin, Seung Gi and Sehun.
Yes, someone was missing.
"You know us? Whoa." Kwangsoo spoke, not knowing what to do.
"So, you called us here?" Minyoung asked, seeing that no one would.
"Yes, I'm Y/N." she swallowed hard. "Well, you know my father, Jaewook."
The detectives opened their mouths even wider in shock, Jongmin and Jaesuk started laughing, trying to contain themselves.
But as they laughed more, the others followed.
"Wait." Jaesuk raised his hands. "He is your father?"
Y/N nodded in agreement, the corners of her mouth turning up as she glared at him.
"I don't know what's more impressive, him having a daughter or finding someone who wanted to be with him." Kwangsoo spoke, looking shocked and that made the others laugh, Sehun even slapped his arm with laughter.
"I got a message from an unknown number saying they have him." She spoke seriously and suddenly everyone was in shock, tension was in the air.
Then, Y/N approached the group to show the message, it was exactly as she said. Just saying that someone had Detective Jaewook and another number of coordinates, which led to the aquarium.
Y/N who had the idea to get the detectives together so they could help her look for her father because she didn't know what to do and who to look for.
They agreed that there must be something out there so they split into two groups, one to look outside and the other inside the aquarium.
Y/N, Seungi Gi, Jaesuk and Sehun would go to the aquarium, it was empty as it was closed, no staff in sight and it was incredibly dark.
Y/N explained that she was back in town and had a date with her father in the afternoon, however instead of meeting him at the family home, she got the message.
When they entered the aquarium, with fearful steps, Y/N took a step back when she saw the large glass filled with water and animals.
"Whoa, that's…a little too much, isn't it?" She said, laughing nervously and Sehun looked at her worriedly.
"What?" Seungi Gi asked as they walked further inside.
"I think this is a bad time to say that I have a water phobia." Y/N replied as she cringed as she looked at the fishbowl and the three men laughed.
"Are you afraid of water and have you come to the aquarium?" Jaesuk asked curiously and laughed.
"What could I do?" She shrugged and jumped when a stingray swam overhead. "Oh, that scared me!"
The team continued searching as Y/N continued to flinch as a very large fish swam very close to the glass and the men laughed but looked worriedly at her. However, when the shark tank arrived, she grabbed the back of Sehun's shirt and hid behind him.
"Don't be scared, they won't get you." He spoke to her, but let her hide behind him.
"I know but it's just-" she yelled as she saw another one swim "they're too big!"
They left there without a clue and were tired because apparently there was nothing important there.
Meanwhile, the team searching the outside found clues that led to a warehouse that was locked with a huge padlock that was supposed to be opened with two keys but were nowhere to be seen, they entered through the side doors and went to the room where the security cameras were on, so they analyzed footage from that day at the exact moment the message had been sent to Y/N.
It was then that they saw that a person had left the warehouse, it wasn’t possible to see what was there, but they saw that he sent a message on his phone and then went to the area where divers performed shows for visitors and threw the keys there.
They decided to go to the team that was inside the aquarium and quickly got together, shared the information they had obtained and when they said that the keys were inside the tank, the 4 were surprised, they seemed defeated.
"Why does it always have to involve water?" Sehun grumbled and drew a laugh from Seungi Gi.
"Is someone going to have to swim in there?" Jaesuk asked and Minyoung nodded.
"I don't know if I can." Y/N raised her arms in surrender.
"Wouldn't you do that for your father?" Kwangsoo asked and she laughed nervously.
"Look, this is a really hard question.” She replied and the older one made a funny face of surprise.
"These kids these days." He spoke looking at Jaesuk.
"You can do it, Y/N!" Minyoung spoke, resting her hand on her shoulder.
"I can go if you want." Sehun said and she looked at him gratefully.
"Do you volunteer then?" Jongmin asked and he laughed, denying it.
"It wouldn't be better if one of us went too?" Kwangsoo asked.
"You go!" He replied, offended.
"It's too personal for Y/N." Seungi Gi spoke and then the debate between the detectives started to get heated.
Each one shared an opinion and Y/N tried to defend herself, she was scared and hated swimming but she wanted to try for her father, she needed to know where he was and who was with him.
"Let her try, she might help!" Sehun spoke to Jaesuk who looked at him suspiciously.
"Are you going to advocate for her?"
"Yes!" Sehun chuckled, making the older one look surprised.
"We literally met her just a few hours ago."
After much discussion, they decided to let Y/N and Sehun go, if something went wrong Seungi Gi was ready to enter the tank.
They arranged swimsuits and the right equipment, Y/N was visibly nervous and listened to the detectives talk about the location of the keys, she nodded silently looking at the tank that was about to enter.
She took several deep breaths and Sehun smiled at her.
"You can do it!" He remembered and she nodded.
They put on the oxygen mask and then swam. There were tense minutes, the detectives were looking outside, Y/N was doing her best not to be scared by the fish and stingrays that passed by her.
The tank was too big for her to be behind Sehun, so they combined with signals that would split to either side.
It seemed on purpose but most of the stingrays passed close to Y/N who was paralyzed when one passed under her belly but it was enough for her to see that the key was there between the stones, she grabbed it quickly and couldn't even celebrate so much tense it was.
She turned around and saw that Sehun had also found the key and soon the two were swimming out of the tank.
Once they were in their dry clothes and outside the aquarium, Y/N looked out of breath but happy.
She and the detectives went to the storage room with the two keys, Minyoung and Jaesuk put the keys together in the padlock and then opened the door, making everyone look inside completely shocked.
End of episode 1
Season 4, Episode 2
It starts by focusing on the faces of the detectives and Y/N who were looking at the warehouse with mixed emotions, some shocked, some surprised.
"But what is that?" Minyoung asked still at the door, nobody seemed to want to enter.
The warehouse, which was no longer an aquarium warehouse, looked like a large, abandoned research facility.
"Let's understand what this is all about." Jaesuk spoke and everyone came in, each going their separate ways in search of answers.
Each detective took care to see the papers that were scattered around the warehouse, see the computers or analyze notes on a slate that was there.
It was a long search, sometimes they shared information among themselves about what they had found, Y/N was together because she also wanted to understand what that had to do with her father and why someone would throw the keys in the tank afterwards.
"So this is research on animal intelligence?" Seungi Gi asked and Sehun looked at the papers he was holding.
"Why would they do that?"
"Here are several articles about the human ability to use the brain." Y/N pointed to the papers on the table. "And the difference between us and other animals."
"Look at this." Kwangsoo caught the attention of everyone who went to the computer he was searching with.
"It's emails." Jongmin spoke, looking confused.
"Get back on that one." Minyoung asked and he did.
Everyone read it and got scared.
"Someone was being paid to figure out how to expand the human brain." Jaesuk spoke suspiciously.
"Wow, what a shame." Kwangsoo commented and everyone laughed.
They found out more, the research had been commissioned by a millionaire but apparently the researchers hadn't found the answer he wanted yet so he was threatening the researchers.
"Hold on guys, look at this." Y/N spoke after turning the slate over, she took steps back as the detectives walked towards her.
"What is that?" Sehun asked, troubled.
The blackboard was filled with photos and information from the brightest minds in Korea and Y/N saw the photo of her father.
"Is anyone else finding this too weird?" Jongmin asked after analyzing the information.
"I am, Jaewook is one of the smartest minds is a lie." Kwangsoo spoke and everyone laughed at the inappropriate joke, Y/N smiled in amusement but restrained.
The team searched deeper and deeper, discovering that the millionaire no longer wanted to know how aquatic animals used their brains, he wanted the knowledge of the smartest people in the country.
They found out where the millionaire's house was and how he had ended that search, probably why he got rid of that place.
"That still doesn't explain why I got that message." Y/N spoke after they concluded.
"If we go to the millionaire's house, maybe we can find out more." Minyoung suggested.
"Isn't it a little late to go to other people's houses?" Jongmin asked as he laughed nervously and the detective pushed him lightly.
"Can't we just leave Jaewook where he is?" Kwangsoo shrugged.
"No!" Y/N replied seriously.
"So off we go?" Jaesuk decreed.
[...]
It was already at the end of the episode.
The detectives and Y/N went to the mansion that remained dark and really macabre, they investigated with caution as there was no sign of anyone there although everyone's instinct indicated that this wasn’t quite true. They split into duos, except for Sehun, Y/N and Kwangsoo who went together.
After a long time analyzing clues scattered around the mansion, each room led to the same corridor that made the detectives arrive together in front of a reinforced door that was opened with the riddle that Minyoung solved while the other detectives tried to help.
Before entering, they shared what they found and fitted the pieces together. The millionaire was gathering the smartest people in the country because he wanted to put their knowledge into his daughter, who was doing very poorly at school and should be the brightest mind in the world, that was her father's wish. He hired a mad scientist, and not very credible among experts, who had claimed to know how to do it.
The brightest minds would be guinea pigs in a crazy experiment. When they entered, the noise of the heavy door made everyone fearful and different from the mansion, the place was well lit, enough to see people in capsules. Y/N and Minyoung put their hands over their mouths to muffle their surprised screams. Y/N took a step to go to her father, who asked for help, but was stopped by Sehun's arm. She looked at him confused and he pointed to the floor.
As if they needed another challenge, the floor looked like a checkerboard. Seung Gi took advantage and to prove the theory that the detectives apparently thought, he threw his notebook on the floor on any tile and a shock caught the material, burning it.
"Oh come on!" Kwangsoo complained.
The detectives then tried to talk to the brilliant minds from afar but it was difficult to understand them due to the distance and because of the capsule.
Jaewook was pointing to the ground trying to say something and with a click Minyoung remembered some clues they saw in the mansion earlier.
"It had a song!" she reminded Jaesuk and the two looked at each other. "In the office."
"Oh, I remember!"
"Is someone going to have to dance?" Jongmin asked and his eyes fell on Sehun who laughed in disbelief.
Sehun went first, by free and spontaneous pressure from the detectives, acting as Minyoung and Jaesuk remembered the lyrics of the song they had read.
They needed to be quick but when Sehun arrived on the other side, he talked to Jaewook who spoke about the lever that deactivated the floor trap, he did and then all the detectives and Y/N approached, she went to her father who smiled proudly at her.
He explained that they were trapped there for hours, apparently the mad scientist had escaped with all the money the millionaire had given him and now his mission to make his daughter the smartest in the country had failed.
Detectives helped free the smartest minds, who could now return home safe and sound.
End of the episode 2 Season 4, Episode 5 Now, as a regular detective, Y/N followed in her father's footsteps and was now part of the team.
The episode began with the detectives arriving at a simple village known for hiding witches underground. They were there because they received a report from a desperate mother who had said that her son had been kidnapped for a ritual involving the blood moon.
Aware that they were dealing with a powerful witch, the detectives split into pairs. Sehun and Y/N's chemistry and friendship made them go together to the second floor of the hovel they had found as a clue to being the witch's coven. She let Sehun go ahead, she hated supernatural things and the fact that the hut was dark didn't help much, and he led them to a room.
They looked for clues, found photos, letters, books, potions and men's clothes that certainly didn't belong to the witch.
"So the witch had a forbidden love?" she asked, reading the letter he held.
A farewell letter, unlike the love letters he had read before.
"And couldn't keep him because this guy" lifted the photo he found "found out she was a witch."
"But then is she trying to find him and cast a spell on him or something?" "That's what we need to find out." he said and she nodded, looking back around the room.
Y/N decided to look in a box in the corner of the wardrobe and when she opened it, she screamed in fright. Sehun went running to her, who held the coat he was wearing tightly.
In the box were snakes. Dead. All of them. "I'm already getting irritated with this kind of trap." she said irritably and Sehun laughed.
"Get used to it." he replied and they went back to observing every corner of the room.
When they saw that he had already searched everything, they decided to go back downstairs to talk to the other detectives.
They exchanged the information they found.
The witch seemed to have plenty of reason to get revenge, her great and forbidden love left town to marry the witch's best friend. She went after all of his male friends and acquaintances, each one sacrificed with spells that apparently made the victim fall head over heels in love with the witch who cast the spell.
It was pure and simple revenge for those who didn't have their love returned.
The detectives then proceeded to the basement, which they knew was where she cast her spells on victims. As they descended the stairs, they heard a noise from someone who seemed to be gagged and even with the dim light of the candles on the floor, they identified a covered and bound figure in a chair.
Seungi Gi and Kwangsoo went to the figure and removed the cloth that covered the head, revealing a handsome and completely scared man, they removed the gag while the rest of the team approached. Y/N and Minyoung were more delighted than surprised.
"Who are you?" Jaesuk asked.
"My name is Song Joong-ki." the man replied and the girls laughed softly, commenting something among themselves.
The detectives looked at her confused and Sehun had a funny face.
"Sorry, I didn't expect such a pretty guy..." Y/N pointed with his hand at the man. "Yeah, she sure has a type." Minyoung nodded, referring to the photos of the other victims.
“Anyway.” Seungi Gi said. looking back at the man.
After untying him and helping him to his feet, he explained that he had been picked up by a woman who said strange things like 'you will pay for the mistakes of others' and before he could react, he felt something hitting him in the head. And when he woke up he was there, tied up.
"What do you do?" Minyoung asked and Y/N looked at him expectantly.
"I'm an aspiring actor." he replied, controlling his laughter and the two laughed together. Again.
And again Sehun looked with a funny face of someone who didn't believe they were focusing on the man and not the case.
Before they could continue talking, the basement door slammed shut and everyone reacted in fright. The candlelight began to flicker non-stop and soon a tall figure appeared out of the dark.
Y/N screamed, as usual hiding behind Sehun when she saw that it was the witch they were looking for. She looked pretty pissed off.
"You shouldn't have interrupted my ritual." she warned.
And everyone stood still, some scared, some in disbelief and then before they could even respond or talk to the witch, she suddenly collapsed.
Was the witch dead?
End of the episode 5
Y/N felt her eyes get heavy and yawned, she tried to cover her mouth to hide how tired she was but firm arms wrapped around her waist.
"Do you want to take a break from the episodes?" she smiled at hearing the familiar voice so low and so close to her ear.
So she turned to face her boyfriend, he looked as tired as she was.
"No, it’s alright." She yawned again and her boyfriend stared at her with raised eyebrows. "Okay, I'm very sleepy."
"You didn't look sleepy when you filmed with Song Joong-ki." he said, with a pout and she laughed.
Y/N brought her hands up to her boyfriend's face, squeezing his cheeks.
"Is that jealousy in your voice, Sehun?" she questioned.
"Why would I be jealous? After all, you are here in my arms." he bragged and she laughed, bringing her face closer to kiss the tip of his nose.
"That's right." she smiled. "It doesn't matter how good-looking, charming and thoughtful my scene partner is."
Sehun looked at her tediously and pulled his body away from her, who laughed.
"Go film with him then!"
She walked over, hugging him by the shoulder and throwing a leg over him.
"I was just talking about you, silly." she joked and laughed at the face he made.
Sehun turned his face and captured her lips in a quick kiss.
"Good, because I was once your handsome, charming and attentive scene partner."
"And you still are. We have one more series to do together, have you forgotten?"
He smiled widely, turning his head to face her.
"I can barely wait!"

"Stop staring at that." Yoongi tried to conceal the paper you were holding with his hand, but you snatched it away from him. You give him a playful sneer before straightening up in your seat and bringing the paper back to your face.
"But it's so beautiful," You exclaimed in a theatrical manner, even letting out a slight gasp for more impact. Needless to say, the person next to you was not amused.
"I agree. It's lovely," a deep voice whispers from near you, and you turn to see Taehyung peering into your paper. He pulls something from his back and shows you his as well. He shuts his eyes and nods slowly as you lift your palms into your lips to conceal your astonished gasp.
"I know, I know," he says, patting your head to "comfort" you. Minyoung smiles at the antics and pulls a chair around to face where you were currently sitting.
"You people are so dramatic," she says as she rolls her eyes and pries your hands away from your face.
“Hey! Let us have this. It's not often that we receive flawless grades on everything," Taehyung remarks whiningly with a pout, and you gag, receiving a gentle smack on the shoulder from him.
“How did everyone else do?” Yoongi asks as he looks around for your other friends.
“I think we all did exceptional on this one. Study group has been working out really well; I'm amazed it really worked for us,” Taehyung says and you nod in agreement.
Hoseok returns to the classroom after momentarily excusing himself to take a phone call. “Everything okay?” Yoongi asked cautiously and Hobi just gave him a slight nod.
“Yep, everything’s fine. My mom just told me she’d have to work overtime so I should just get myself dinner.” He answers as he eyes you sitting on his chair. You were about to stand up to offer him his seat back, but he simply shook his head at you, so you sat down again.
Yoongi tried to read into his friend's face as he spoke to you guys. After years of friendship, you'd think he'd know everything about Hoseok, yet he still has trouble reading him sometimes. He's simply really adept at always wearing his smiling mask. He sits up straight and clears his throat.
“I’ll join you for dinner. I’m sick of seeing my brother’s face all the time at home anyway.” He offers and Hobi sends him a grateful smile. “You know what? We should ask if everyone’s free, then we should all have dinner together.” He adds, and he sees his friend’s eye light up. A smile pulls from his face at the reaction.
Yoongi is well aware that Hoseok dislikes being alone. He spent so much of his childhood alone that he now wants company wherever he goes. After all, it's the reason he and Yoongi became friends. As children, they would always meet at their parents' work functions, and Hobi would always accompany the bashful boy who seemed to want to be anywhere but a fancy affair full of grownups. Yoongi tried to brush him off every time, but his grumpy disposition had no effect on the boy, who clung to him like gum. He's thankful Hoseok didn't give up on him; he wouldn't know what to do without him.
“I think that’s a great idea! We all have something to celebrate anyway.” Minyoung says before rushing over along with Taehyung to relay the information to your other friends.
"Yeah, and don't be bothered about dinner.  I'll ask my dad to make some for us, and we'll pick it up from the restaurant," you say as you rise from your seat. You pull out your phone and indicate that you're about to make a phone call, and they all nod.
Hoseok takes his seat and glances at Yoongi, who has his gaze drawn away from him. He grins again, remembering how thankful he is for his friend. He immediately engulfs his best friend in a hug and even makes smooching noises, while Yoongi, as usual, tries to stop him with a twisted up face.
As he moves away from Yoongi, he softly pats his back and offers him a knowing look of appreciation. He knows his friend well enough to realize that expressing himself verbally is difficult for him, so he expresses himself in other ways. Yoongi nods and ruffles his hair, their unspoken conversation filling the air around them with warmth. They've always had each other's back in everything, and this moment just served to reinforce that.
The thought of a little get-together appeared to excite everyone, and it so happened that everyone could come. The group was divided into teams; some were sent to fetch the food, some to get the dessert, and others to go straight to the Jung residence to prepare for the guests.
You decided to take Minyoung and Jungkook with you with an ulterior motive in mind. Jungkook's dismissal of the entire budget negotiating situation has troubled you every time you see him. How can someone who was so determined to make something happen give up so easily? It also doesn't help when you notice him looking dejected when he thinks no one is watching.
You were on your way to the restaurant on the bus when you decided to (not-so-subtly) bring up the subject of the conversation. You cleared your throat while Minyoung was raving about a volleyball game she saw on TV the day before.
“Speaking of, the sports committee meeting is next week.” You bring up and Minyoung gives you a questioning look. You return it with a knowing one, trying to get her to work with you.
“Right. You must be really busy preparing paperwork for that, don't you?" She responds with a glance that says, Right now? Really? You widen your eyes at her and nod in the direction of Jungkook. Her jaw drops open in realization but she nods in understanding.
"Yeah, but we've planned ahead of time enough to decrease the load because it's so close. I think we can take on some other projects as well..." You tried to ease into the subject.
“Really? I think you've got enough work to do with the next practice games," Jungkook adds nonchalantly, staring out the window like an anime protagonist. Heh.
You fumble over your words. "Ah- That's-" You were at a loss for words since he was right! Because the rest of the practice games will be hosted by Kkotgil, there is a lot of documentation and inventory that has to be completed. And it would reflect poorly on the school if you didn't plan this well. "It's not that bad, really," you chuckle awkwardly, turning to look at Minyoung, who is trying not to laugh at you. You scowl at her and determine that beating around the bush isn't going to work.
You sigh and turn to face Jungkook. "I want to talk to you about the budget negotiation you mentioned," you told him flatly, amazed at how confident you sounded considering you'd never truly spoken to him like this before.
He throws his head back in irritation before turning to face you. "I thought I told you to forget about it," he replies sternly, but it doesn't faze you in the least.
You sighed exasperatedly as you peered at him. "I know, but you seemed so adamant about it, so I don't understand why you gave up so fast," you retorted gently. Fighting fire with fire, as far as you can gather, will not work on this guy.
He opted to avert your eyes, so you just kept going. "Listen, you're under no obligation to tell me anything you don't want to. Maybe just tell me enough to make the Coach think I know everything. I doubt he'll quiz me about it anyway." You shrugged, trying to make it sound like it's not a big deal, but you know by now that it is for him.
He fiddled with his hands on his lap, and the quiet hushed conversation you were having appeared to prompt Minyoung to intervene. She offers Jungkook a reassuring smile, and his stiff shoulders loosen.
"I'm not sure how much to tell you without..." He trailed off and returned his gaze to the window.
"It's about your relationship with the team, isn't it?" You can see his eyes widen at your comment. "I figured so. You know, you're not very subtle." You add, and he let out a wry laugh at that.
"Says you," he responds sarcastically. You caught the insinuation in his tone but you don't want to go into it right now because this conversation is about him. You decide to brush that last bit off and sit up straight.
“Hey, I’m just letting you know that option is on the table.” You opt to continue instead of looking at him. "And remember, even after the meeting is over, you can still talk to me about it. I'm more to you than just a manager. I'm also your friend," you say as you look around, catching Minyoung's gaze and returning her smile.
"I'll be there when you're ready to tell me. We'll all be there for you." You return your glance to him, but he has a distant expression in his eyes that tells you he's thinking about something.
You gave a final shrug before pressing the button to notify the driver that you'd like to exit at the next stop. Minyoung wraps her arm around yours as you exit the bus. "You were so cool," she adds with a laugh, and you just grin and shake your head.
It didn’t feel cool for you to say; it was hypocritical advice. Who were you to tell him that he can tell you guys anything, when not so long ago you completely shut them all out without an explanation? You laugh at yourself. You were beginning to doubt yourself. Perhaps you should just leave him alone and let him deal with his shit. You don't have to pry into other people's lives when you're determined to build your walls as high as possible, allowing others to view only a fraction of you.
But, a little voice within your head argues, you know better now. You know better now that it doesn't hurt to depend on them now and again, especially when they are willing to be there for you. With that in mind, you loosen up, and tighten Minyoung’s arms that were tangled with yours.
"Hey," Jungkook's voice yelled out from behind you as you approached the restaurant's door, forcing you and your friend to spin around to face him. "I'll think about it," he adds timidly, rubbing the back of his neck.
You smiled at him.
“Okay.”

When the entire group is together, it is always chaotic. With all of the food laid out on the table, you know your dad went all out for the occasion. At this point, you'd think he'd be feeding the entire neighborhood. He’s just that thrilled at the prospect of you having friends. Your friends, on the other hand, were grateful and as a sign of gratitude, they promised to finish everything.
As soon as the group was complete, you all tucked into the food. True to their word, they did manage to finish almost everything that was laid out. Well, considering you were a bunch of growing teenagers, it shouldn’t be surprising that you all had an increased appetite. It was after you all ate dinner and were resting your stomachs to make room for dessert were you able to properly look around Hoseok’s home that he shared with his mom. During the conversation at the table, he mentioned that he was an only child.
You sat on the sofa and left the others sitting on the floor around the coffee table where you all ate. There was an abundance of personal clutter around the living room, which gave the house a more homey appearance. There were trophies, medals, but what caught your attention were the number of pictures of Hobi and his mother that were either hung on the wall or placed neatly on the shelves. They smiled in all the photos, and while it was obvious in his single shots that he was being made to strike a particular pose, he still had a wide grin on his face.
“These are really cute. You seemed like such a bright and cheerful child,” You suddenly commented without looking at the group, but their chatter died down at your remark. You look at them to question the silence and you see them looking at Hobi who had his lips on a grim line, and the rest who seemed like they were observing the situation. You didn't even get to ask about his mom, which you wanted to do just to make conversation and in an attempt to get to know him more. Hoseok briefly caught himself slipping before breaking into his trademark grin. You see Jin lean back on his seat and cross his arms with a sigh from your peripheral vision.
“Do you guys wanna play games? I don’t have a gaming console because we usually game at Yoongi’s, but I do have some board games and cards.” He offers and the atmosphere at the table suddenly brightens again. You scrunch your eyebrows, finding all of their reactions odd. You don’t know if you were reading into this too much but you wondered why him having that expression silenced the whole table. It was normal for you to be grumpy and frown at every little thing, so you understand why Hobi reacted like that, as it might have been rude for him when you said something about his childhood pictures. You facepalmed yourself when no one was looking. It looks like you've gotten better at making these guys uncomfortable with unsolicited comments ever since you started to feel at ease around them. Well done, you.
The group decided to play a card game while enjoying dessert, and it soon became tense and competitive. It was a wonderful change to hear laughing and playful banter fill the Jung family's living room. During one particularly heated and power-up-heavy round, Jimin noticed his friend shifting in his seat.
“You okay?” He asks in a hushed voice despite the risk of being barely audible because of the commotion on the table.
Jungkook gave him a quick glance before smiling briefly. “Yeah, just thinking about something.” He was considering what you had said to him. He noticed that you appeared hesitant to provide him that advice, and he thinks he understands why. Nevertheless, he appreciated your attempt and the fact that it was done in good faith. Once again, he's grateful that you and Minyoung didn't avoid him because he's been an insufferable prick for no apparent reason..
“You’re thinking? That’s new.” Jimin joked around and earned a playful nudge in return. There was silence between the two as they quietly took their own turns in the game and let the others carry all the playful conversations. “You wanna talk about it? ” He asks tentatively while pretending to watch the others play; he even notices Jin sneaking a glance at Namjoon's cards before returning to his own, but Yoongi had also snuck a glance at his cards while he was distracted. Jimin shook his head in disbelief at his friends.
“Actually..” Jungkook trailed off. “Yeah. Yeah, I think I finally want to talk about it.” He says.
Jimin hums in response. “Okay. Should we break off from the group or-” Jungkook cut him off frantically before he finished, rubbing at his nape.
“N-no. I was thinking.. I was thinking of finally telling everyone about what happened.” He said. Jimin had his mouth agape at his friend’s revelation. Among this group of friends, only him and Taehyung knew about Jungkook’s situation with his teammates. They found it difficult when Jungkook obstinately refused their assurances that what had happened was not his fault. Perhaps some new perspectives on the matter could be helpful. Perhaps if it came from recently made friends, he would believe them.
It would be too much for Jungkook, he thinks, to tell you and Minyoung the story and then maybe have to tell it to the others again. He figures it would be best to take care of everything at once, much like ripping off a band aid.
“Are you sure?” Jimin tries to give him an out in the event that he doesn’t really want to do this, but he just nods.
“Okay. You can ask Tae or myself to take over if you find it too difficult to recount the story. " Jimin gives his friend a reassuring shoulder pat, prompting a hesitant nod.
Looking around the table, Jungkook considers how he will abruptly bring up a serious topic in the midst of laughter. He was on the verge of fleeing out of fear that he could destroy the mood and his friends' opinion of him. He was aware that doing this might disrupt the dynamics of the group. When he has finished telling them everything and they decide they don't like him and want to cut all ties with him, he will let them do just that. At least the friendship wasn't old enough to have caused a wound that deep yet. He knew Jimin and Tae would be by him no matter what, which is also comforting.
He tries to test whether anyone would notice by clearing his throat once, but in the past few minutes, the group has only grown rowdier due to Jin's alleged cheating. Taehyung, who was more attentive of his friends, saw him and then made an effort to make everyone quiet.
"Jungkook, did you have anything to say?" he inquired loudly enough to get the group's attention, and all of a sudden, heads turned to look at him. He senses the attention making his blood run cold and his hand tremble, but he braces himself. However, he was cut off before he could speak.
"I promise I wasn't looking! Are your playing cards nearly finished?" Jin stretches out and flips Jungkook's cards that were on the table.
“Ayy, these aren’t even good cards, you have been bound to lose with these.”
After that, chaos reigned yet again.
“See, you just cheated again! ”
"No, I didn't. I simply provided him with advice."
“Boo! You’re disqualified! ”
In response to the chaos, Jungkook finds himself actually giggling. Though he hasn't known these people for very long, he feels as though he can trust them in some way. But he also thinks that losing them would hurt, so he felt a tiny tightness in his chest.
“I did want to say something. And it has nothing to do with the cards.” He begins, and the group quiets down again, but he does not feel the heaviness in the air this time. He glances around the table and finds them looking at him expectantly, as if they are genuinely interested in hearing him out. He regained his composure and braced himself once more.
“It’s about what happened last year..”
❀。• *₊°。 ❀°
“You’re late again!” The captain scolds the boy and throws the ball at his head, letting it bounce off and back to his hands.
“Sorry, sorry! I had to run some errands before leaving.” He says and Jungkook, from afar, sighs at the sight of his sunbae being scolded again.
“You’re lucky you’re a star player, or else I’d give you more shit for this.” The captain says with a shake of his head.
“Wah, look at you being scolded in front of your juniors! How embarrassing!” His batchmate teases, sending everyone into light laughter.
His seniors had usually argued endlessly during training, but everyone knew it was just friendly banter, so it was entertaining to see. Additionally, it improved group dynamics and helped the younger teammates feel comfortable.
Once his Doyun sunbae was done running laps around the court as punishment for being late, he approached Jungkook with a smack on the back.
“Sorry for being late when I promised to run some plays with you.” The older one says with an easy smile. Jungkook rolls his eyes.
“Whatever, hyung. What’s so important that you’re always late to weekend training?” He asked in an irritated tone and shifted his body away from the older guy. He is often irritated by his hyung's repeated promises to assist him in improving his plays but frequently arrives to practice too late. His senior was constantly eager to leave training as soon as it ended, so after-practice hours were off the table as well. He exhales. How was he going to get the attention of his seniors now that he was running for captain of the following year? He hasn't had many chances to demonstrate to them how much he has developed since his first year.
“Yah! Don't treat your sunbae that way! I have a life outside of volleyball, you know?” He said in a defensive tone and one of his batchmates overheard Doyun say this.
“Psh! Even I am aware that is untrue. Volleyball is your life," the guy exclaimed, drawing amusement from others.
“I’ll ask for some personal training time from the captain right now. I gotta make it up to little Jungkook here somehow.” Doyun wraps his arm around the younger’s shoulders and ruffles his hair with the other. Jungkook pries himself off from his hyung before huffing in annoyance.
“I want to practice some quick attacks today.” Jungkook said flatly and went on his merry way, asking Jimin to toss some balls for him.
Doyun was left chuckling at the younger boy’s demands. “He’s quite straightforward, isn't he? Think he’d make for a good captain? ” He remarks, to which the others hum in agreement.
The training was effective at least, and this time Doyun kept his word and gave Jungkook today a lot of assistance. Since they were paired up during practice when Jungkook was still trying out for the volleyball team, he was his closest hyung from the team. He was forced to acknowledge how much of the credit for his rapid progress goes to his hyung.
Doyun wasn't always so disloyal to his commitments. During the freshman year of the three, he actually trained frequently with Jungkook and occasionally even Jimin and Taehyung. He’d tell the younger boys about his dream to play professionally and get recruited into his dream team, and also to give them advice on how to play better. Jungkook doesn’t want to admit it, but he’s taken quite a liking to his hyung’s presence, despite showing otherwise. He is thankful for having someone to rely on who has more experience than him in the field. He’s like the brother he never had.
However, this year, he had been more evasive, appeared to be constantly on guard, and had been in a hurry to leave every single training session. Jungkook was curious as to what was causing the older guy to act this way, especially when they were nearing the last games of the winter sports season, where there were gonna be professional recruiters, and it was the senior members’ last games of their high school life as well.
Doyun abruptly excused himself one day to the captain as they were still wrapping up the training and he hurriedly left the gym, oblivious to his batchmates' remarks that he should at least wait until everyone was prepared to leave. When Jungkook noticed it, a strong surge of curiosity about why his hyung is acting in this manner swept over him. He quickly puts on his jacket and makes his way to the gym's exit, earning some questioning yells from Jimin and Taehyung to which he acknowledges with a raise of hand. He then follows the diminutive figure that he believes to be his hyung because he has already traveled a considerable distance.
He was chasing the older man while taking quick, frigid breaths of cold air that pierced his lungs. He had to exercise caution because there were certain areas of the walkway that were slippery; as a result, he nearly fell several times. He succeeds in catching up, though he makes sure to keep a safe distance from Doyun so as not to be seen stalking him. He knows the older man would tell him off when he finds out.
They were nearing a neighboring park after traveling a fair distance into a small neighborhood, and he started to question if this was even a good idea; maybe his hyung was right, he was just busy with other stuff about his personal life. But when Jungkook notices Doyun raising the hood of his jacket, he senses something was off. He continued on following him without trying to give it any attention. Not long after, a group of men his hyung's age emerged from a nearby tree. He immediately noticed his Doyun hyung, who instantly stopped in his tracks, and consequently, he stopped as well. He hides behind a nearby tree as he sees Doyun get stopped in the middle of attempting to walk past the group of guys.
He hears them speaking to his sunbae, and at first the talk is quiet and civil, but as it heats up, the group steadily encircles Doyun in an effort to intimidate him. It appeared to work, which surprised Jungkook. Doyun was typically a laid-back person who laughed a lot and smiled a lot, but everyone who knew him knew that he wasn't the kind to let people walk all over him. Now that he’s seeing him in this light, the looming feeling of dread creeps up in his gut yet again. Doyun wouldn’t be the type to get caught up in gang affairs, would he? He thinks to himself and his hands balled up into tight fists. It would explain his behavior these past few months, though.
When he notices someone pushing Doyun back and making him stumble, he instinctively steps forward. Jungkook realized that this was going to escalate into a fight, and his heartbeat quickened. Before he could decide what to do, he finds himself in a direct confrontation with a member of the group.
“What the hell are you doing to him?” He hears his own voice shout but doesn’t realize that he actually spoke and how he got here.
“Y-yah! What are you doing here!” Doyun grabs the front of his jacket and pulls him.
“Well would you look at that. Is this another one of your brothers? How about we ask him for the money then?” The one who seemed to be the leader of the group eyes Jungkook up and down.
“Leave him alone, he’s not my brother.” Doyun stood in a defensive stance in front of Jungkook which told the guys otherwise.
“Is that right?” The guy brings back his eyes to Jungkook intimidatingly, “But maybe we can still get something out of him. Make him pay for your brother’s debt like a good little friend, hmm?”
Doyun grabbed the leader's collar while two men each grabbed one of Jungkook's arms to hold him down. “I told you to leave him alone, he has nothing to do with this!” He uttered hastily.
The guy punched Doyun in the face, making Jungkook gasp. “Hyung!” He sees blood spill out from the older guy’s mouth and he feels his blood run cold.
“If you gave us our money back, then we wouldn’t be having this problem. You’re really gonna let your brother cower behind your back? How about you bring him to us so he can pay the consequences of his actions.” The guy shoves his pointer finger on Doyun’s forehead, pushing it repeatedly to accent his point. Jungkook sees Doyun clench his jaw so hard he thought it was gonna break.
There were a few seconds of calm when Doyun abruptly threw a punch after slowly rising upright. The subsequent events happened quickly. As the men gather around Doyun, Jungkook finds himself being pushed aside and his body hitting the dirt. In the haste of the situation, he finds himself grabbing a stray piece of long wood and striking several of the men painfully to get them off Doyun, who threw more punches and kicks once he got an opening. They managed to take down enough of them to be able to flee, and Jungkook doesn't recall how it happened, but he finds himself being dragged by his hyung to escape the fight.
“What the fuck were you thinking?” Doyun said between catching his breath, still running away. He looks back and sees them being followed and he curses lightly before increasing their pace.
They thought they were in the clear when they stopped on the side of the road. They were both huffing and puffing with their hands resting on their knees, catching their breath. Jungkook looked back and cursed to himself when he saw one of the guys spot them and call out to their companions.
“They saw us hyung, let’s go!” He didn’t bother grabbing his hyung and ran to get a head start. As he was running away he heard someone yell out to him, and a bright light coming from his left. He felt someone pushing him from the back and he painfully landed on the concrete, but nothing hurt more than the sight he saw of Doyun’s body being hit by the car.
Everything moved slowly, and he could hear his ears ringing. He watches the gang members panic and flee the scene, hears cries to get an ambulance, witnesses blue and red lights flashing against the now-darkened surroundings, and hears someone ask him if he was okay.
The rest of it is lost to memory, but when he awoke from his haze, he was sitting in a hospital waiting room covered in bandages, and it wasn't until he was by himself that he finally broke down.
❀。• *₊°。 ❀°
They listened to Jungkook as he told the story with his head down and avoided making eye contact with the others. The room, which had earlier been alive with voices, was now completely silent.
“He ended up with broken bones all over his body. Inevitably, he couldn’t play the rest of the championship games that season; It’d take months for him to fully recover, and months of physical therapy if they could determine he could ever play again.” He says with a husky tone, his energy being drained with every second he spends talking about this.
“He was our star player, and he held the team together more than we realized. So when we went into the games without him, adding the fact that morale was low and tensions were high inside the team because of the incident, we messed up so much during the games and we… lost everything.
“Seniors who were competing for spots on professional and collegiate teams saw all of their chances to get recruited all go down the drain. All thanks to me. All because I made the decision to be nosy on that specific day.” He began to sob uncontrollably, his shoulders shaking, covering his face with both hands as his voice broke. The group was quick to gravitate towards him and reach their hand out to comfort him, not saying anything as they all know words would not be enough right now.
"The worst part was that nobody was held accountable—not even me, who was clearly responsible for everything. My other batchmates disagree, and even though they didn't bother to learn the whole story, they have since grown to dislike me. It affected how I handled the team as a captain, and I eventually started hating myself for that, too." He struggled to continue through his tears, his words stopped short by breath intake.
He’d asked for a suspension from the coach himself once he told him everything that happened, and he’s been benched for a few games because of it. It helped ease his guilt but it wasn’t enough. Nearly not enough for the damage he had caused.
He sobbed harder, clutching his chest as his breath came in heaves, "I guess they just punished me by making me captain, and letting the others walk all over me because of what I did."
Jimin gives him a soothing back rub and waits for him to catch his breath before speaking.
"That's just untrue. They didn't point the finger at anyone specifically since there was no one to blame," He says. "It was an accident. And because they recognized your abilities, they chose you to be captain."
"Even before that incident, there were discussions about electing you," Taehyung continued. It was what they’ve always told him about this, but he always seemed to never believe them.
“The seniors all managed to get into good teams despite everything because there have been more games that showcased their talents. They admitted to us they were regretful sometimes, but it was the best they could get out of the situation.” Jimin adds.
There were a few more seconds of silence and ruminating about all that has been said before someone spoke again.
“Maybe it really was your fault.” They heard your small voice cut through the silence, and they all looked at you with wide eyes in shock. Even Jungkook felt his tears retract back to his ducts in astonishment.
“W-what?” He manages to blurt out.
You avert your eyes awkwardly. “I-I mean, knowing Jimin and Taehyung, the opposite is probably what they had always told you..” You told him in a progressively smaller voice.
“And the reason why you never believed them before is because maybe that’s not what you wanted to hear.” You add, this time not looking at anyone.
Namjoon chuckles, which surprised everyone. “I actually agree.” He says, now making him the subject of wide eyed stares. “I could elaborate, but that’s only if you want us to continue.” He asks Jungkook. He sniffs a little and wipes his cheek in a childlike manner that made everyone smile before he nodded.
“Based on what you told us, it’s highly likely that you were at fault.” Namjoon continued and Jungkook felt tears prick his eyes.
“Uhm, guys-” Taehyung tries to look around for help, thinking that this was going in a very different direction.
“But!” Namjoon cuts him off. “But, it was a variety of factors that contributed to the outcome if you think about it.” He props his thumb and pointer finger in a thinking pose.
“Right. If you blame yourself for it, then a lot of things were at fault too, aside from you. It was the car, maybe even the weather that made the streets slippery. It could even be Doyun sunbae for not reaching out to anyone about his situation, but I reckon that’s on the bottom of the list.” Minyoung says as she nods, trying to really drive the point.
“But you know, if we’re really blaming anyone here, it’d be the gang members’ fault. They intimidated and threatened you first, and you guys just tried to defend yourselves and run away.” Hoseok adds.
“Hmmm. Maybe it’d be good for you to acknowledge that you were at fault so you can heal, but just keep in mind that it’s not just you. It was a series of bad circumstances that led to that event.” Yoongi says as he fiddles with a pack of brownies in front of him.
Unbeknownst to himself, Jungkook has now ceased sobbing entirely. As he found himself paying close attention to what his colleagues were saying, a deep part of him began to relax.
“Have you spoken to any of them? The sunbaes, I mean.” Minyoung asks as she gets back to munching on sweets, trying to ease everyone into going back to being casual so as to not add to the gloomy atmosphere.
“He did with everyone except Doyun, that’s how we knew they didn’t blame anyone.” Jimin spoke for him.
“Why not? Doyun sunbae seems nice from what I’ve seen.” Minyoung replies.
“That’s exactly the reason. I never attempted since he would be too kind to hold me responsible for anything. I'm also too embarrassed to show my face after what I've done to him and the team.” Jungkook says dejectedly, his eyes drooping slightly now that all the crying had caught up to him.
“Hmmm. How do you know that’s how he’ll react? You said you never tried talking to him.” Yoongi says calmly.
“Right! You didn’t even give him a chance to blame you, either!” Hoseok says in a too cheerful voice, earning a nudge from you.
“I mean, if he blames you, that’s his decision to make, no? But you didn’t even give him that option by avoiding him.” He clarifies.
“I hate to agree, but he’s right. Maybe the best thing to do is to talk with him.” You said in a light tone.
Jungkook ruminates on everything that was said. He had more space in his head and heart to consider everything now that everything was out in the open. They were all right about this. He should go and apologize to Doyun, and what comes out of his apology is out of his hands. He’ll accept whatever happens and try finally move past this, focus on dealing with the now.
Everyone had resumed their easy talk when he turned to gaze around the table. They do not hate him. They still don't hate him despite what he told them. Even if they had believed he was at fault, they left no trace of their judgment or intention to cut him off. He experienced tremendous relief. While you're having a chat with Minyoung, he catches your eye, which makes you double back and look at him questioningly. You offer him a small nod, and he does the same.
“Look, I still receive Doyun hyung’s emails. We can contact him to meet; he goes to college in a nearby town.” Taehyung says casually while showing his phone, with a mouthful of chocolate-covered strawberries in his mouth, earning a fond smile from Jungkook.
“Last I heard, physical therapy was going well, and that maybe they’d finally let him play in the upcoming inter-collegiate season.” Jimin adds, snatching a strawberry from Taehyung (to his annoyance) and showing it in his mouth.
“Will you guys accompany me when I decide to meet up with him?” Jungkook asks and Jimin clicks his tongue as if that were a ridiculous question.
“Of course, dumbass. We’re always here for you.” He says before leaning forward to stop the tug of war that broke out between Jin and Hobi over a piece of jelly.
Amidst all the chaos, Jungkook smiles.
We'll all be there for you. He hears your voice say. Suddenly, he doesn't remember what he was so afraid of.
You were right.

₊❏❜ ⋮ ⌒ Chapter 3 - Wanna get a guitar?
In which Miyoung might finally get to be in the group- might.
Pairing - (brief) Wonbin × OC
: ̗̀➛ Next , Masterlist
Tumblr media
Choi Miyoung sighed, staring at the endless number of files stored in her laptop. Her room now a mess of music sheets, chip packets, and an unhealthy amount of stress.
She had a billion deadlines to be met- what felt like a billion. Lesserafim, Kiss of Life, twice, aespa, red velvet, and her own projects. How the hell would she complete any of it? She was glad she got NCT out of the way at least.
Yellow summer felt more like Blue freezing winter right now. Her thoughts were interrupted as someone called for her, "Noona! Minyoung finished making dinner! It's getting cold come right now!"
Sighing yet again, she stood up from her swivel chair and got out of her dark room. The light of the living room piercing her eyes as she made her way towards the dining table.
"That tteokbokki looks great Minyoung," she complimented, sitting down and grabbing a pair of chopsticks. "I helped you know,"
"Youngmin, standing and irritating me isn't helping," Minyoung rolled her eyes. "Noona! I suggested adding the cheese!" He complained to Miyoung.
"Yea sure, you helped," she sarcastically said. "But Minyoung, this is great!"
"The Favouritism is real," Youngmin pouted.
The two sisters laughed at their annoying brother before continuing to eat the tasty rice cakes.
"Unnie, is everything okay? You seem really stressed."
"Uh Unnie, you're yellow summer right? Why don't you calm down a little? Cheery thoughts?"
"To be honest, no," she paused, taking a deep breath, "I already had to make so many songs for other groups and now, if I want to debut, I have to make 6 demo songs." Her younger siblings put down their chopsticks, feeling ever-so bad for their sister, who spoke so sadly.
"Can you believe it? That fucking asshole Kim knew I'm freaking Yellow summer and have all these other groups to write for but that shitty jerk had to give me such a task. One song has to be upbeat like a title track about guitars, one has to be chic and cool, one has to have a nostalgic feel, another has to have a hip-hop feel to it, one should be fucking calm or something and one has to be "sexy" what the absolute hell does he mean!?" Miyoung's previously somber tone suddenly turned into a furious one, scaring the 13 year old twins.
"You're right, sorry for screaming like that,"
"Do you have any idea, what you're gonna do?" Youngmin asked.
"Well I have basic ideas for most of them but the hip-hop one- I'm freaking lost- like what do I even write-" Miyoung's rant was interrupted when the sound of an ambulance passed by. The siren going off loudly.
"Wait a minute..." she tilted her head to the side.
-
"Wait you were able to do it?"
"All the six songs?"
"In 9 days?"
"How?"
"Are you god?"
A multitude of questions came from her possible future members as the group waited in a practice room. Mr.Kim taking his sweet time to arrive.
"I mean, I barely slept but the job's done so-" Miyoung was interrupted when the door of the room opened up, revealing the unusually cheery executive. He fixed his suit before asking, "So you actually completed it huh? Or are you gonna make up some excuse right now?"
"I actually did it you ass- I mean I completed all of it." She quickly corrected herself, when one of the girls beside her pinched her arm.
"Alright go ahead."
"The first track is called Get a guitar and it goes like this-"
The strums of a guitar echoed across the room as the addictive track began- before everyone knew it they were vibing to the dun dun of the song.
And then the next track called Blue flame played, the members already visioning the possible choreography for the song.
"The next song is Memories, and I personalised one of the lyrics for the group name."
Everyone realised what she meant when the "we rise" part came along.
"This one is called talk saxy,"
"This is the calm song you asked for, it's called cool with you."
"...And finally this one is siren."
'BEEP BEEP BEEP-'
"Ohhh!" The group couldn't help but cheer because of the hype feeling of the song. Everyone enjoyed the beats of it, until it was over.
"Oh, well, Ms.Choi, you did a great job, congrats on being Riize's composer, I hope you continue to release such good tracks for their group." With yet another smirk, Mr.Kim walked out of the room, leaving everyone shocked at his decision.
Clenching her fists, Miyoung ran out of the room, knowing she wouldn't accept such a conclusion.
"Mr.Kim, you-you can't turn back on your words! You said that-"
"Well I only said that, it was never official per se,"
"But your word is official," she argued, feeling defeated.
"Well a girl like you, whose past is covered with scars, shouldn't debut, do you know what a stain you'd be? A worthless orphan? What if people find out about your siblings, they'd think you're some whore who got pregnant young and are taking care of your fucking kids, aish, seriously just stick to being a faceless composer yea?" He walked away, leaving her seemingly alone in the hallway, tears forcing their way out.
She stayed there frozen for a couple of minutes, actually taking his words seriously. "Did I just waste all my time for nothing?" She thought.
A creak alerted her and she quickly wiped her face with the sleeve of her sweater, looking at the group that was walking out of the room. (They had been called by one of their managers)
"Congrats on your debut, fighting," was all she said to them as they gave her sympathetic looks- the expressions she despised. People shedding pity on her, it made her feel pathetic and weak and she hated that entirely.
"Don't feel bad for me, if you do that I won't give these songs to you guys!" She joked through her tears, trying to avoid their pity.
"Guys, what are you doing come quick, you have a meeting." The 11 people soon began leaving.
Miyoung was about to go back in the room and get her laptop but she felt someone grab her hand.
He was the boy that she thought was the best-looking out of the bunch. The one with a charming smile that seemed all too endearing. Wonbin was it?
"Miyoung, I don't know what you've been through at all but all I know is that you're so strong, I'm guessing your siblings only have you as a guardian, so you're amazing for persevering through that." He took a pause, looking at her rather confused expression- her eyes still teary. "I'm not giving you pity... but I'm telling you that you're great, don't listen to that asshole."

It was as if everything went backwards after Seungcheol and your first official date as a fake couple. The acts of intimacy, holding hands in the hallways and pulling you close into his side during lunch, became a seldom occurrence. Perhaps if his hand accidentally brushed against yours when the two of you were walking side by side, he found himself slotting his into yours before you would tighten your grip on him as if it were natural – he noticed your cheeks didn’t heat up like they used to either. Rarely, did he come find you after class – opting to surprise you (gently of course) if he saw you lounging around campus.  If you wanted to spend lunch with just Clara and Hansol, Seungcheol left you alone, eating lunch with Jihoon instead. Even the rumors and whispers about the two of you have quieted. All of this wasn't a bad thing, per se. In fact, Seungcheol felt more at ease with how natural being with you.
How easy it was being with you made Seungcheol question the reality he knew, however. Was this love he was seeking all along? Or was this just the two of you being something a little closer friends? The rom-coms and melodramas he watched were always filled with big gestures that left both parties’ hearts fluttering. In What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, Park Seojun was always back hugging or kissing Park Minyoung at the most random times. In Love Alarm, Hye Yeong always did cute boyfriend things for JoJo, like hanging up her curtains or teaching her how to put on ties. The things you and Seungcheol did were nothing close to being that cute since the date. You studied together in the library whenever the two of you had free time, though frankly, Seungcheol only joined you because he knew you were a diligent student and he needed to focus more on his final senior project. Every now and then, he’d walk you to work at the cafe, but he never even stepped foot in there because insisted he not walk further than the corner of the street in case Jisoo saw the two of you. If he was lucky, you’d invite him over for dinner a couple more times than usual each week – and Jihoon was always present.
It wasn’t romantic at all, yet he kind of liked it.
With a heavy sigh, Seungcheol set the thick paper coffee cup in front of you with a loud ‘tok’ as the bottom slapped the wooden table, catching you off-guard. You quickly lowered the screen of your laptop, Seungcheol catching a brief glimpse of the word ‘Greece’ and a picture of historical structures. You peered up at your fake boyfriend, innocently, your pink hoodie partially shielding your view. He frowned and furrowed his brows together curiously, wondering why you looked like you had just been caught red handed.
“Thank you,” you peeped, grabbing the hot drink with both hands.
Seungcheol hummed in reply, settling in his own seat across from you. You took a sip, wincing as the liquid burned a small patch of your tongue.
Seeing the whole scene unfold, Seugcheol let out a brisk ‘tsk’ in concern. “Be careful - wait for it to be cooler.”
You set the drink down, shooting an annoyed look his way.
“What are you working on?” Seungcheol asked, folding his arms across his chest.
Picking up your pencil, you added some shading to a corner of the building you were sketching. “Just working on some designs,” you shrugged.
Seungcheol figured you were probably looking for inspiration from ‘Greek’ architecture for your whatever you were working on.
“You?” you dropped your pencil.
“Some spreadsheets,” Seungcheol replied. Mindlessly, he scrolled through his Excel file filled with various numbers he didn’t even know how he produced.
“Fun,” you chuckled awkwardly.
“Mmhm,” Seungcheol placed the straw of his ice coffee in between his lips, taking a long sip. Your eyes flickered back and forth between him and your sketch. Normal small talk like this wasn’t normal between the two of you. You wondered if there was something else on his mind or he was really just bored from looking at all those numbers. Figuring your drink was probably cooler now, you brought it to your lips, blowing at it a little before you sipped.
“Wonwoo asked if you wanted to go on a blind date with him this weekend,” Seungcheol finally blurted.
You choked, coughing a fit, earning a few uncomfortable glances in your direction.
“Me?” you said a little too loudly.
A random hush was thrown your way.
Seungcheol rolled his eyes, “Yes you - of course not! He meant us, you and me.”
“Oh,” you tucked your chin into your chest sheepishly.
“Already laying eyes on my friends, I see,” Seungcheol muttered.
“You said ‘you,’” you retorted.
“How would that be a blind date? You already met him.”
You shook your head in annoyance, letting yourself lose this banter this time. You didn’t want to lose any more brain cells. “Why does he want us to join him on his blind date?”
“It’ll be like a double date,” Seungcheol replied, leaning onto his elbows, “His parents are making him go with the heiress of Byun Holdings.”
“And why do we have to go?”
Seungcheol shrugged. “It’s what friends do.”
You eyed him curiously, a mischievous smile growing on your face as an idea forming in your head. “You know you can always ask me on dates without an excuse, right?”
“Oh my god – no,” Seungcheol nearly slammed his head against the table. He can’t believe a few weeks ago he had told you you were good at flirting. “It’s not that - if I wanted to go on a date with you, I would’ve already asked.”
You slumped back in your seat admittedly a little hurt - you must’ve been a pretty terrible date when you went to the Cherry Blossom Festival if he hasn’t asked you since then.
“Wonwoo . . . doesn’t like the heiress of Byun Holdings - she talks a lot,” Seungcheol explained, “And you know, Wonwoo doesn’t – so we go to help . . . make it a little more bearable for him.”
Seungcheol noticed the way you sank further into your chair and pulled your hoodie tighter around your chin. Though he was supposed to be annoyed by you, he couldn’t help that little twitch of the corner of his lips when he saw how embarrassed you were.
“We don’t have to go, if you don’t want to,” Seungcheol added when you didn’t answer.
“I’ll think about it,” you quipped. Unable to sit in your seat any longer, you pushed yourself away from the table, quickly getting up and pointed awkwardly at a random bookcase. “I’m gonna go find a book about . . . uh . . . uh, building . . . p-poles– pillars. Yeah, building pillars for my . . . class.”
Though you were an architecture major, Seungcheol doubted there was much to building pillars that there was a book available. He found himself chuckling to himself as he followed you into the lines of bookshelves with his hands tucked in the front pocket of his red hoodie.
Sensing his presence behind you, you hastened your steps, moving deeper into the edge of the library. You weren’t sure what you were thinking, trying to lose him in the university library that only had so many places to go, but you sure as hell couldn’t face him right now after a crack at a flirt.
“Y/N,” Seungcheol sang quietly after you.
When you didn’t answer, he tried again, a little louder this time.
You turned the corner, entering a random aisle. You stopped at the end, pretending to search for a book, letting your hand trace over the spines and your eyes concentrating seriously on the titles. ‘Marvin’s Manual for Intimate Relationships: The Secrets to a Great Sex Life!’ one of the titles read.
You silently cursed your luck for choosing a section about sociology of sex.
You could hear Seungcheol sniggering next to you. “Definitely a great book to learn about pillars.”
You spun around fast enough that your hoodie fell off, glaring at him through your lashes. Seungcheol took a few steps towards you, but you didn’t dare budge in defeat.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, tilting his head forehead towards you to look in your eyes when you looked down.
“Maybe you do need some help getting a guy,” Seungcheol teased when you didn’t answer. A light chortle spilled from his lips, only making you angrier.
“It’s not my fault someone’s not holding up their end of the deal,” you shot back childishly.
“Hm?” Seungcheol furrowed his brows together.
Counting the moments on your fingers, you started listing off all you’ve done for Seungcheol in this deal. “I went to your dad’s event with you, held your hand when you insisted when  we started dating, went on a date with you and haven’t been asked out since.”
A wolfish grin spread across Seungcheol’s face. “You didn’t add fake like you used to.”
You let out a quiet groan and pointed angrily at him. “That’s not the point - you’re not helping me like you said you would.”
“And that date to the Cherry Blossom Festival that you’ve always wanted to go to didn’t count?”
“It . . .” you stopped, unsure of how to respond. It was for you after all, but that wasn’t the point right now. “You didn’t teach me anything explicitly.”
“Ah, so she wants a true lesson,” Seungcheol pondered aloud.
Mindlessly, he took another few steps forward, now just inches away from you. You pressed yourself against the bookcase, the shelves digging into your back. You find yourself at a loss for room to get away from him. Seungcheol scanned across the book titles behind you. The title ‘The Art of Kissing’ caught his eyes, forming a brilliant idea to mind.
With a soft thump against the books behind you, Seungcheol rested his arm above your head. His face hovered over yours so closely you could feel his breath fanning against your cheek.
“Should we have our first lesson right here?” Seungcheol asked in a deep voice, sending shivers down your spine. He tilted his head playfully.
“I-I, uh,” you struggled to find the right words with how close he was over you.
Seungcheol twisted his lips into a pout, looking up as if he was contemplating something important as a five-year-old does.
With a snap of his finger, he gasps dramatically. “I’ll teach you how to kiss properly.”
Whatever sense of annoyance you had with Seungcheol earlier had completely dissipated now. You could only stare at him dumbfounded, like the first time he asked you to fall in love with him.
“You’ve never kissed anyone, right?” Seungcheol asked himself more than he did you.
Only you, the words got stuck in your throat. You were reminded of his lips ghosting over yours just briefly; the thick of his lips skimming over your slightly chapped ones. Did he remember it like you? Or had it been just another kiss from another girl to him?
“I’ll teach you how to kiss then,” Seungcheol continued. “Consider this practice - um, first, don’t bite your lips like that.”
You immediately let your lips naturally protrude, swollen and already pink from you sucking on them from nervousness. You hadn’t realized you were biting them in the first place.
Seungcheol held up a finger with his free hand. “Step one: position,” he angled his head ever so slightly. He brought his finger up, brushing the bottom of your chin to tilt your head up towards him.
“Step two,” he said in an even quieter voice, “You have to let your eyes linger on their lips - just long enough that they wonder if you’re gonna kiss them, but not long enough that they know you will.” And he did just that: His eyelids lazily half-closed, but it looked surprisingly sexy.
“Step three: you move in halfway,” he leaned forward towards you. Your breath hitched when you felt his nose nudge against yours. Noticing how you stiffened, Seungcheol let out a satisfied chortle. “And you have to meet me there to finish the kiss, Y/N.”
It was just practice, right? He was upholding his end of the deal like you asked.
So, you found your eyes fluttering shut while you moved in closer to him. Instinctively, your hand flew up to cup his jaw, gently nudging him towards you. You had just felt your top lip graze against his bottom one when you heard a loud clearing of someone’s throat. Immediately, your eyes flew open and with the almighty forces in your palms, you shoved Seungcheol away. He stumbled back into the metal bookcase behind him, causing it to sway slightly.
Blood pumped through your ears as you turned to see who the sound belonged to, and much to your embarrassment, it was the elderly hunched over librarian who was shelving away books in her old creaky cart.
“This is a public library,” she quipped, pressing her lips into a tight line. “Please keep all sexual activities out of this space out of respect for your peers.”
“W-what?! We weren’t going to-”
“Or else you’ll be banned,” she cut you off. With a small ‘hmph’, she turned around and wheeled away her cart. You could hear the wheels squeaking as clear as day now as it faded the further she walked; you wondered why you didn’t hear it before.
Beside you, Seungcheol was stifling his laughter behind the palm of his hand, crinkling the corner of his eyes. He pointed at you, unable to say anything because he was trying to breathe instead.
Not wanting to make any more noises, you briskly raised your fists before stalking off to your study table.
Note to self: Never take lessons from Seungcheol in public.
Tumblr media
‘She talks a lot’ was an understatement in describing the heiress of Byun Holdings, Jiah. She was nice enough, but you wouldn’t want to go on a date with her alone either if you were Wonwoo. Your temple resting on your knuckles, you blankly picked at your chicken dish trying to look busy and drown out Jiah’s voice. From the bits and pieces you could catch, she was talking about her recent trip to the States and Saks on . . . Fourth Avenue? Whatever it was, it sounded expensive.
Per expected of any heiress, Jiah was a pretty and well-dressed young lady. Tonight, she sported a purple plaid set, a matching cropped blazer and skirt, her long blonde hair was loose waves that framed her doll-like face perfectly. Though you had “dress casually” per Seungcheol’s request, your black turtleneck tucked into your high-waisted jeans seemed lackluster in comparison.
A warm hand suddenly landed on your thigh. You peered up to see Seungcheol leaning towards you. He was wearing a bright blue silk collared shirt that made his skin look extra bright and glowy today.
“Doing alright?” he asked in a quiet voice, just enough for you to hear. His thumb drew soft circles into your skin.
You let out a stuttered sigh, offering him a tired smile.
Seungcheol frowned slightly, knowing that you were feeling less than you led on in the presence of Jiah. Indeed, you were a listener, but the most chatty friend you had was Mingyu, and even then, the young man knew when to be quiet or leave you alone. Returning your smile with an apologetic one, he leaned over and planted a gentle kiss on your temple, taking you by surprise. As if this was normal between the two of you, Seungcheol leaned back into his seat, crossing his left leg over his right one. He tugged on the sleeve of his shirt before picking up his chopsticks to finish the last of his rice.
Less interested in talks about designer shoes, Wonwoo watched the small, but intimate scene unfold across from him. He stifled a chuckle behind the back of his hand, making a mental note to himself to tease Seungcheol for being so tender with you - he never knew his friend was so  soft.
“I like your shirt by the way, Y/N,” you heard Jiah say.
“Um, thanks,” you cleared your throat, shifting in your seat. You glanced down at your turtleneck, not sure what there was to like about it when she was dressed in her matching blazer set.
“Where’d you get it?” Jiah asked, twirling her fork coyly.
“Um . . . H&M . . . I think?” you replied. Truthfully, you were not quite sure where you bought it.
“Oh,” Jiah replied softly, dropping her fork. She sat a little taller in her seat, looking down at her acrylic nails and awkwardly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
You shrank back, feeling as if you were a student who just gave the teacher a wrong answer when there was none. It was an innocent small-talk among girls, no? Nonetheless, you couldn’t shake off an icky feeling growing heavy on your shoulders.
“We should go shopping together sometimes!” Jiah piped up again.
Wonwoo choked on his water at Jiah’s suggestion. His eyes opened as wide, pressing his lips into a tight line. He mentally wanted to face palm himself at the ignorance of this girl. Your face had mirrored the shock of Wonwoo’s expression; your eyes also blew wide ten-fold, not knowing what you did to earn such an open invitation to hang out with her. You had hardly got two words since arriving at the restaurant. Did she want to be your friend?
“Do you like Michael Kors? Kate Spade? Ooh or better yet - maybe we can check out the new Louis Vouitton shop that opened in Apgujeong!”
You swore your heart rate spiked at the number of luxury brands that flew out of the pretty girl’s mouth, let alone the fact that she thought it was normal to loiter in Apgujeong, one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Korea. The items sold there were more expensive than your apartment rent.
“Aahhh,” Wonwoo interrupted before you could say give her an answer. He rubbed his belly dramatically. “I’m so full - should we call for the check?”
“But we-”
“Yeah!” Seungcheol joined the conversation, letting his metal chopsticks clatter into his bowl. “I’m full too.” He waved at the waiter for the check.
“Maybe we could go on a walk after this?” Jiah offered.
Wonwoo let out a loud yawn. “I would love to, Jiah, but I’m kind of tired from the week.” He shot her an apologetic smile. “I also don’t want to keep these two lovebirds longer than they need to be out with us.”
“Oh! We could just go on our own,” she tried.
“I . . . have to get up early tomorrow - sorry,” Wonwoo pressed his lips into a tightline, hoping she would get the message that he wasn’t interested in her.
She let out a small okay, visibly disappointed, but not wanting to push any further.
Wonwoo let out a little sigh of relief when she wasn’t looking. He caught you watching him in the process. Contrary to the annoyed look he had earlier, he shot you a happy radiant toothless smile that scrunched his nose.
Tumblr media
“Sorry about Jiah,” Wonwoo told you as you climbed out of the car, following Seungcheol. Instead of heading home like Wonwoo had told Jiah, Wonwoo and Seungcheol opted to go to a hole-in-the-wall music bar in Itaewon. “The night is still young and it’s a nice place to escape where no one knows you,” Seungcheol had explained. No plans for the rest of the evening, you tagged along willingly.
“It’s fine,” you said, rubbing your arm as a gentle breeze rushed past you.
Wonwoo shut the door, waving off Mr. Kang who had dropped the three of you off. “It’s not fine – some people are just . . . stuck in their world and don’t know how to come down from their ivory tower.”
“She didn’t mean any harm,” you tried to reason.
“She probably didn’t,” Wonwoo shrugged, “But how many designer bags you own and how many more you bought at Saks on Fifth Avenue isn’t everything.”
“Ah,” you chuckled to yourself, “It was fifth avenue, not fourth.”
You heard Seungcheol let out a soft chortle in front of you before the three of you headed towards the bar at the opposite end of the entrance. Though he checked in on you often throughout the night, Seungcheol was oddly quiet tonight. Perhaps all of Jiah’s gabbing had tired him out as well.
“Seungcheol!” the young bartender greeted him.
Your fake boyfriend tilted his chin towards the man in greeting.
“And Wonwoo! Long time, no see, guys,” he wiped his hands on a gray washcloth.
The three of you leaned against the counter, you squished in between Wonwoo and Seungcheol.
“Who’s your friend? She’s cute,” the bartender flirted, pointing at you.
“I’m Y/N,” you replied.
“Cheol’s girlfriend,” Wonwoo added in a loud whisper. At this, you felt Seungcheol’s arm snake around your waist and pull you a little closer to him. You shifted uncomfortably in his hold, the sensation feeling a little foreign given how un-touchy he has been with you these past few weeks.
“Oh!” the bartender waved his hand in defense, “I wasn’t trying to flirt, err, you . . . you are cute though - just stating facts.”
You immediately flushed red - receiving compliments was never your forte.
“I’m Jun,” the bartender introduced himself, throwing the towel over his shoulder.
“Nice to meet you Jun,” you nodded.
“What can I get you guys?”
The three of you ordered your drinks, Jun immediately getting to work on them. You turned around to lean against the bar counter, taking in the rustic setting. The room was small and dim sans the bar; fairy lights hung from the ceiling giving it a golden glow. Vines decorated the white painted walls, two large windows lined with oak sat on either side of the door. Across from the bar were various red booths, where some people opted if they were dining in. You spotted plates of fries on some tables, the scent of greasy burgers floating to your nose. At the front,  a stage that held a young man holding a guitar and singing a jazz song. A small crowd was gathered before him; some couples swayed to the music, others just standing by to just watch. If you didn’t pay close enough attention, you would’ve easily missed the claw machine sitting by the bathrooms in the back. It was white, the paint already chipping from the exterior. The lights shined over the prizes brightly, the yellow light bulbs lined the window, blinking to some tune you remembered from childhood. Though it seemed out of place, it still blended in well with its surroundings, as if it did belong here.
A flute of mimosa appeared in front of you as Seungcheol handed you the newly arrived drinks. He took a sip of his gold colored beer, following your line of sight to the claw machine.
“Wanna play?” he turned back to look at you.
“Oh no! It’s okay,” you waved him off.
Seungcheol shoved his hand into his jean jacket, shaking it and listening for the jingle of coins. “You sure? I’m pretty good at those.”
You chortled, swirling your drink. You noted how his overconfident demeanor was returning. “Are you now?”
Seungcheol thumbed through the change he found. “Amazing - you can ask Jihoon.” He tilted his in the direction of the machine, signaling for you to come along. “Wanna join us Wonwoo?”
The taller man looked up, his eyebrows knitted together in confusion why he wanted to try out a claw machine - the two have been here several times before and he never paid mind to it until now. Wonwoo glanced down at you who was following him, a smirk forming on his face. Wonwoo shook his head, “I’m good - I’ll just camp out here.”
“‘Kay,” Seungcheol waved him off.
Placing his beer on a nearby table, Seungcheol inserted a few coins into the claw machine. The yellow lights changed their pattern, each bulb lighting up in a consecutive pattern within a matter of seconds, while a cheerful jingle played.
“Which one do you want,” Seungcheol asked, positioning himself in front of the joy stick and red button.
“Mmm,” you hummed. You rested your side on the window of the machine, scanning the toys. The tan deer plushie in the corner caught your eye. “That one!”
“Which one?”
“The deer - in the corner, by the bread loaf plushie.”
“One deer plushie, coming right up,” a confident smirk forming on Seungcheol’s lips.
He lolled the joystick to the right, then up in the direction of the stuffed animal you asked for. The silver claw swung violently back and forth. He waited for it to stabilize before pressing the red button. You held your breath, watching the claw descend. It barely nipped the antlers, coming up empty. The claw zoomed back to its initial position over the drop slot.
“Aw! You lost - try again!” the machine taunted.
“Amazing, huh?” you chuckled, “Should I call Jihoon?”
“Shut up,” Seungcheol sulked. He pulled out a couple of more coins. “I’m just rusty.”
For the second time, he inserted the coins into the machine. We wiped his brow as if he was already sweating from the first attempt.
“Maybe I should ask for something in an easier position,” you commented as the machine tunes cued the start of the game. “How about that-”
If you want the deer, I’ll give you the deer,” Seungcheol whined, cutting you off. “I can do it, just wait.”
Once again, he imitated the same movements as he did earlier - though this time slower and more calculated. Adjusting the joystick ever so slightly, so the claw appeared to be hanging above the deer’s head, Seungcheol smacked the red button. He twirled around with his back to the machine, while crossing his arms over his chest. A proud smile graced his face as if he was expecting success.
Your eyes stayed focused on the claw behind you. It plummeted into the pool of toys, but rather than landing on the deer, it grabbed onto the bread loaf plushie. Pulling it out of the pit, the claw swung back to the drop slot, the machine whirring in victory.
“Told you I was good at this,” Seungcheol said smugly.
You tried to stifle your laughter, waiting for him to see the results.
Seungcheol turned around to pull out the toy. His confident smile now fading as he realized it wasn’t the deer, but the bread loaf next to it. Quickly, he pressed himself up against the window of the machine, not believing it was the right plushie.
“This is rigged!” he jabbed a finger at the window, earning a few strange looks thrown his way.
You tugged at his arm. “Cheol, calm down - it’s just a game!”
“No,” he whined, turning around to face you, “You asked for the deer though and I positioned it to get the deer, but all I got was this . . . this . . . loaf!”
You took the loaf of bread from his hands, studying the small smile it held on the front. Wrapping your arms around it, you pulled it into your chest, giving him a small shrug.
“I’ll still take it - thanks,” you told him nonchalantly. “We should get back to Wonwoo-”
“Seungcheol?” a high-pitched voice interrupted you, calling from afar.
The two of you turned towards the source of the voice. A raven-haired beauty dressed in a tight blue dress with ruched detailing on the side and off-the-shoulder-sleeves stood a distance away. She was accompanied by a couple of other female friends who followed her as she came closer. The details of her face coming into light, you noted how her plump lips were perfectly painted a bright red; the wings of her liner were crisp.
“It is you,” the girl giggled, tossing her hair back.
For some reason, you felt mildly uncomfortable around the stranger. Holding on tighter to the bread plushie, you peered up at your companion who had fallen silent. He stood stiffly; the pout that was once set on his lips was now replaced with a blank stare, though his jaw was clenched.
“Kyungsoon,” Seungcheol managed to spit out.
You recognized the name, but no memories of this girl came to mind.
“Nice to see you, Cheollie,” said woman replied, her tone dripping with honey. She reached over and ran a polished finger over his shoulder.
“And you,” he replied, his gaze dropping to the floor.
“I miss you, you know,” she giggled.
I miss you?
Perhaps she was just one of Seungcheol’s one-night stands, but you couldn’t help but frown at the thought.
“Stop,” Seungcheol warned suddenly.
Kyungsoon snickered, leaning back. “Chill out, Cheollie - I’m just trying to have fun.”
You noticed the way Seungcheol’s fists clenched and unclenched by his side - something he did often when he was upset. Worried, you placed a gentle hand on his upper arm. “Hey.”
However, rather than earning Seungcheol’s attention, Kyungsoon whipped her head at you instead.
“Who’s your friend?” She smirked, folding her arms over her waist, adjusting her stance to look at you. “Did you win her that . . . thing?” Her red lips curled teasingly at Seungcheol, who still didn’t dare look at her. “How cute.”
Though the thought didn’t sound nice coming from Kyungsoon. If Jiah had made you feel uncomfortable, Kyungsoon made you felt unwelcomed - as if you were intruding on something personal and needed to get out of the building and walk to the next block altogether.
“Kyungsoon,” Wonwoo’s voice boomed from behind her.
“Wonwoo,” she replied much less pleasantly.
Wonwoo tucked his hands into the pockets of his dress pants, tilting his head to the side. There was no trace of joy in seeing Kyungsoon on his face.
“I’d appreciate it if you’d leave my friends alone for the rest of the night,” Wonwoo said.
“They have tongues - they can talk for themselves and tell me to leave if they want to,” she shot back.
“You’ve always been a difficult one,” Wonwoo narrowed his eyes at her, “You wouldn’t want me calling your dad, would you?”
At this Kyungsoon’s confident demeanor fell. Her hands slipped off her arms, falling to her side. She rolled her eyes in annoyance at Wonwoo, mumbling something about being a “snitch” before stomping off and purposely bumping into his shoulder. Her three presumed friends quickly scurried after her, making a point to walk around Wonwoo.
“Hey,” you said softly to Seungcheol who had still not changed from his stiff demeanor.
“Seungcheol-”
Said man suddenly walked off, steam on his trails. You and Wonwoo watched him push through the crowds, not paying mind to who he bumped into, until he reached the door. Angrily, he pushed it open, disappearing into the dark night. On impulse, you were ready to take off after him, had it not been for Wonwoo’s grip on your wrist.
“Don’t,” Wonwoo said to you, much more softly than Kyungsoon. He runs an anxious hand through his dark locks, puffing out his cheeks and letting out a prolonged huff. He felt terrible that you had to get caught in the middle of all of this, probably clueless to what was going on. “Just . . . give him some time to cool off - he’ll come back.”
Though not liking his recommendation, you relented, settling back onto your heels. You peered down at the bread plushie in your arms. The slight smile that once thought was cute, seemed taunting now.
Just who was Kyungsoon to Seungcheol?

11:11 pm, the cabin of the train is almost completely empty carrying only 4 passengers including you. Work got you off late making you sluggish as you ride the train home. You rest your head against the railing beside you and your mind starts to recall the scenes from earlier in the day like it always does.
One memory stood out. Since it’s the one that ruined your whole day before it even began.
You stood underneath the roof of the waiting shed for the bus stop. You were checking to see if you hadn’t forgotten anything at home when you felt your phone ring in your bag. You read the caller ID, it was your boyfriend – well, now ex-boyfriend.
"Hey, I want to break up," he says over the phone.
Your breath hitched, gripping your device in your hand by your ear. You stood there rooted on the ground, a gust of morning wind made your whole body shiver and frozen.
"Seriously?" You didn't feel like crying, in fact, you wanted to lash out then and there. Scream and curse at him but the anxiety and embarrassment that comes after the loud noise will make everything worse for you. And who even breaks up with people through the phone? and at 5 am?
"I'm sorry it's not you it's—"
"Fucking spare me with that bullshit Minyoung, just say you didn't like me and hang up." You said, cutting him off and ending the call not without giving him a chance to speak. You didn’t even have to think twice to find out if he was cheating on your not, for fuck sake you could hear a girl in the background. You were stupid to think he was ever a good idea.
That exchange definitely ruined your mood for the rest of the day.
And now you are back here, on the train home. Replaying the scenes that happened so early in the morning.
You were too prideful to admit it, blinded by thinking you could make him fall for you. But that wasn’t the case. You even caught him once with a girl but he was able to convince you.
Stupid and naive were you.
They are all the same. You were starting to think men that know how to treat their partner right are rare.
Well maybe…there was one.
You dated this one the longest. He was the kindest and most caring person. He stayed through your darkest nights and brightest days. He helped and cheered you on and even celebrated with you on your achievements. He gave you the support that no one else has.
He was your first and would’ve probably been your last.
He became the first shoulder you cried on, he was there when you had a bad dream, he was there when you were scared of the thunders and didn't laugh at you once for it. He let you become vulnerable and got you to lower your walls. He made sure you weren't scared to open up anymore and always promised that he was there for you.
But alas, he broke that promise.
Now every time you hear someone say fuck relationships, you agree with them. You used to love the feeling of being in love. You thought that being in a relationship would solve all your problems. That was a lie, it’ll be the beginning of all your problems.
But something about him still made you wanna come back. You wanted to run into his arms, cry into his chest as you feel his rough calloused hands run through your hair, hushing you and whispering sweet nothings, calming your heart that has been hammering in your chest making you sob in pain.
In times like this when you are weak and tired, you find yourself on the phone with him, just to hear his voice again.
"Y/n..."
"I miss you Hyuck."
There, the tears that didn't fall from the break up fell on your cheeks as you talk to him again. A lump gets caught in your throat as you let out another sentence.
"I miss you so much." He gets you so weak it's embarrassing.
"Y/n, how many times do we have to—" That voice.
He’s tired. Tired of hearing your trembling voice over the line, weeping in pain and pity.
"I'm sorry..I— I don't know,, I didn't even realize...I just—" you stumbled on your words as you try to not let the tears take over. "— no one is like you...no one can ever be like you,,,"
You hear a sigh on the other line.
He's tired of this. It's been a year since you broke up and he still finds you calling his phone. But Donghyuck cannot get himself to block your number.
"You are making it so hard to get over you— to get over us."
"Then come back to me, we can try again, please Hyuck?"
You can sense him shake his head, trying not to give in to your pleads. Desperation laced your words as your sobs begin to increase in volume, and streams of tears start to fall from your eyes. You didn't care if the other 5 people start to give you looks, all you wanted was Donghyuck to be in your arms again.
"You know how it ended with us, it never worked out." You swallowed your cries, wiping away the hot liquid from your face. It seemed that the sentence brought you back to reality as you recalled the last attempt of being with his presence again. Screams and cries echoed throughout the apartment with you throwing accessories and pillows at him.
You and Donghyuck were toxic. Together you are just waving a giant red flag. The endless fights, misunderstandings, your relationship status is constantly on and off and all your friends grew concerned until one day they were too tired to keep up. Because of your persistence in keeping the relationship longer with Donghyuck, your friends started leaving one by one to the point where Donghyuck was the only one you had.
But you still couldn’t trust him enough to completely hold your heart. You realized that on the first fight you had.
"Yeah."
You tried hooking up with no strings attached but you were so addicted to him even that was killing you both inside. It was best that you just completely cut ties.
"I'm sorry for calling." Sniffles replaced the sounds of sobs, letting out a deep sigh as you've come back to your senses.
"It's ok."
"Goodnight Hyuck."
"Baby, are you coming back to bed?" You here in the back. 'Baby...' part of you felt guilty for calling now. What would his girlfriend think after his ex called trying to get back at him? You really don't want to be the reason he loses her trust but that little part of your toxic self wanted to keep this up and do harm to their relationship.
'boundaries' your conscience whispered to. 'remember you are trying to get rid of that part of yourself'
"I have to go y/n."
"Ok" you replied after he hung up. You leaned your head back, hitting the glass pane of the train window. Hearing the tracks whistles as the train dragged along the metal.
"The train is now arriving at its final destination, thank you and enjoy your night."
The train doors squeaked open as the passengers began to get off. You sat for a while registering what had just happened until the last passenger got off and you finally stood up to get off as well.

The moment Amanda walks on the stage and the music begans to play, her body immediately flows with the rhythm and all the uneasiness and tension she felt backstage just instantly washes away. There wasn’t an audience anymore. It was just the music and her.
However, that mindset was completely shattered upon her eyes spotting a single person in the large crowd holding a little sign with heavy words saying “Amanda Leave Ateez!”
It wasn’t unusual for her to see someone say these words to her. She would see it when she was scrolling online or even having a face to face conversation.
It’s what made her over analyze herself with every little thing she did. She constantly tried so hard to make people like her and show people she deserved to be in Ateez but yet she continuously to receive these harsh words, making her doubt herself and want to hide away from the criticizing world.
With her focus broken she stumbled, twisting her foot in a way the foot should never be positioned in, but she quickly regained her composure and covering the pain in her foot and in her heart with a bright smile.
It was during the last dance break of HALA HALA when a crackling sound from her ankle could be heard throughout the stage and probably even the first couple of rows. She fought her way through the pain, reminding herself it was only a few more seconds and it will be over.
Once it was finally over, she attempted to pick herself up from the stage to give a final bow to the audience with her members, only to feel a sharp intense pain rush through her feet, prompting her to silently wince and fall back to the floor.
Jongho, being the closest one, rushed over crouching down to her level with an alarmed look, “What’s wrong?”
“My ankle.” She whimpered, cautious holding onto it, “I don't think I can get up.”
“Here.” Jongho draped Amanda’s arm around his neck and wrapped his arm around her waist to help guide her off the stage.
He sat her on an empty chair backstage as her personal manager, Minyoung, rushed over and crouched down to inspect Amanda, “What happened?”
“She hurt her ankle.” Jongho answered, which cued Minyoung to delicately take off Amanda’s shoe, avoiding triggering more pain for Amanda, yet it didn’t seem to work as a small yelp escaped her lips.
“What happened?” Hongjoong concerningly asked about his member after rushing off stage with the other six boys.
“I think she might have broken her ankle.” Minyoung replied, examining Amanda’s swollen ankle before getting up, “I’m going to go call for help. You guys stay with her.”
People slowly began to swarm around her, attempting to catch glimpses of the dramatic scene. Amanda wasn’t sure if it was because of the excruciating pain she was feeling or the crowd of eyes staring down at her that was making her chest incapable of breathing properly and a dreadful feeling she hadn’t felt in a long time began to rush in.
“I can’t breathe.” She mumbled in between wheezes to the members. Seonghwa was bewildered by her words, only to realize that her breathing was shallow and the crowd surrounding them. Recognizing her expression as it became second nature for him after countless times witnessing it, “There’s too many people here. We should get her out of here.”
“We don’t want to move her if it can hurt her ankle more.” Yunho warned them, “I’ll try and get people to move away.”
“I’ll help.” Mingi offered as the two fanned out to disassemble the growing crowd that was forming.
“We should try and calm her down.” Yeosang suggested to the members.
“I have an idea.” San squatted to Amanda’s eye level, “Amanda, do you remember the time when we locked Wooyoung out of the dorm?”
“What the hell are you saying right now?” She irritatedly grumbled at his sudden irrelevant question. Even the other boys were giving the boy questioning looks.
“Do you remember what we did?” San averted her question.
Amanda between shallow breaths replied, “We told him we wouldn’t let him in until he danced to baby shark.”
“Right. And then Hongjoong came home to see him doing the dance in the hallway. Do you remember the look on his face when he saw him?”
A little smile appeared on the girl's face as she replayed that moment in her head, “He looked like he was questioning his life decisions.”
She hadn’t even realized that her breathing was starting to go back to a normal rhythm and was replaced with little giggles, or that the crowd vanished. But she did know she was surrounded by the people who had always been able to distract her from her dark thoughts that loomed over her.

₊❏❜ ⋮ ⌒ Prologue 2 - Choi Miyoung
: ̗̀➛ Next , Masterlist
Tumblr media
"Noona, why do you put yourself through this! Why!" A boy cried, his tears screaming. "Youngmin, it's okay," she smiled, stroking his hair out of his tear-stained face. "Unnie stop it! Do you not see yourself!? That stupid bitch basically stabbed you!" Another voice joined in, shaky due to her weeping.
"Minyoung, you don't use such words, and it's just a few cuts here and there," Choi Miyoung lied, to herself, knowing that her whole body ached with pain. From the cuts that her aunt scribed with a knife near her neck, her stomach and her wrists.
"What do you mean little cuts?! What about the hot water she poured on you! What about the cigarette burns? Noona why do you always take the blame for every little thing!" Youngmin hugged his sister.
Choi Miyoung had been orphaned when she was merely 14, her younger twin siblings that were seven years younger to her were now her responsibility.
Their aunt, who was supposed to take care of them was...put simply...cruel. She put the children through immensely painful times. Often giving them only one meal to eat. Despite living in a luxurious mansion and being wealthy, she always taunted them for the money they made her spent- even if the children worked hard to get 90% scholarships in their schools, even if they were okay with wearing the torn hand-me-down's of their cousins.
During these hardships, one thing Miyoung sought comfort in, were her musical instruments. Miraculously, their aunt or Mrs.Baek, as they had been instructed to call her as, let Miyoung keep her instruments from when she lived with her parents. Whenever she felt as if life was enclosing around her and hope was lost- the melodies, the chords, the lyrics, everything about the music she crafted, made her happy.
Maybe that's why she joined SM, composing songs since 2018, under the alias "yellow summer" which was the English translation of her mother's name: Hwang Yeoreum. Little did she know that the songs that she made would be her pathway to a decent life.
She began saving up- to buy a house and move out of this hell. She worked night after night, even taking up part-time jobs and eventually she did it.
Becoming her siblings' guardian was easier than expected-lying to her aunt that they would move to a hostel. And that was when life seemed a little simpler.
But what about her dream? How long would she be a faceless composer- she wanted to be on stage, scream her lungs out as she followed the metronome of the beats.
Just how long would she have to witness people with significantly lesser skills debut rather than her own self?
And when she wasn't chosen for even the tentative mixed group project- "riize" she began feeling as if she wasted her whole life.

juliet’s masterlist
word count: 1.5k
set in late 2016
summary: in which juliet makes two new friends on her first day at kq as a trainee.
a/n: uM turns out this is the first predebut scenario for juliet!! as always, let me know what you think and feel free to chat with me in my inbox!! thanks for reading and ily 💕🥺 take care!!
Tumblr media
“And here’s the final stop of our mini tour, the practice room,” the company staff tells Juliet kindly as they stop outside said room, which is still dark as no one else had arrived yet. “You’re our only female trainee, so you can train with the boys. They’re sweethearts, but you can always come to us if there’s any trouble, okay?”
“Okay, thank you,” Juliet replies meekly.
The older woman smiles in response as she unlocks the door, stepping inside the room to turn on the lights. “We’re a bit early, so you can just wait here until the others and the instructor arrives. I’ll be at the front desk if you need anything. Good luck on your first day!”
The girl quietly thanks the woman, watching her disappear down the dimly-lit hallway before hesitantly entering the practice room. Truth be told, she never expected herself to be a trainee once again, having thought that her experience at SM was enough for a lifetime. But deep down, she knew that if she didn’t give it a second try—hence why she is now here—she’d spend the rest of her life being regretful and thinking about the what if’s.
Juliet also didn’t expect herself to be so early. She was told to come in a little earlier after school so the staff could give her a quick tour of the building before training starts, but she had expected at least some of the trainees to be here already.
Then again, she’s gotten a lot more introverted ever since moving to Seoul, so perhaps it’s a good thing that she has a few moments to herself.
Still, Juliet has never felt this awkward in her life. Scared? Maybe not. Nothing will ever beat the sheer intimidation and fear she felt on her first day at SM, and though she’s only trained there for two years—much less than most of the friends she met there—she already feels like she’s gone through the wringer. Still, being in a new environment with no idea what to expect is unnerving, especially when it’s so different compared to what she is used to.
Juliet looks around the room tentatively before sitting down on the ground, her back pressing against the cold wall. She takes the time to text her aunt that she’s arrived before shoving her phone back into her bag, not wanting to ruin her first impression on anyone by being on her phone.
She doesn’t know how long she’s being tracing the pattern on the wood flooring with a finger when the door to the practice room bursts open, revealing a tall boy around her age standing in the doorway.
Before Juliet can scramble up to greet who she presumes is her fellow trainee, the boy is already beaming at her as he introduces himself. “Hi! You must be the female trainee the staff told us about! My name’s Jeong Yunho, what’s yours?”
“Baek Minyoung. Or Juliet, whichever you prefer,” she says before bowing to him. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“Juliet,” Yunho tries, still smiling brightly. She wonders how someone can be so cheerful after a long day, but his joyful disposition is definitely not unwelcome. “That’s a pretty name! Did you grow up abroad?”
“Yeah, I’m from Australia, but I’ve been living in Seoul since 2014.”
Yunho nods, eyes sparkling with amazement. “That’s cool! I’ve always wanted to go there. Is this your first time being a trainee?” he asks as they sit, ensuring that there’s a reasonable distance between them as to not make her uncomfortable. It doesn’t go unnoticed by Juliet, and she smiles wider to show her gratefulness.
“No, I trained under another company for two years before coming here,” she says quietly, omitting the name of said company to avoid being asked about her time there.
As though sensing her reluctance, Yunho dances around the topic. “Then you’re already a lot more experienced than most of us, so you don’t have anything to worry about! Did they give you a tour of the building yet?”
“Yeah, but it was pretty brief, so I might forget a lot of it after today,” Juliet admits sheepishly.
Yunho giggles. “Don’t stress it, the same happened to me too! But Hongjoong-hyung—he’s another trainee here, but he won’t be here today because he has another class—helped me, so if you need someone to show you around, I’d be more than happy to!”
Juliet smiles shyly. “Thank you, that’d be really great. Speaking of the other trainees, where is everyone?”
“Oh, they’re still probably at school or on the way here! We can keep talking until our trainer arrives—he’s really nice, so you don’t have to be nervous—or we can just... sit, if you don’t really want to talk. Either is fine!”
Now it’s Juliet’s turn to laugh. “No, no, we can totally chat! I don’t know much about anyone or anything here, so that can be a place to start!”
Tumblr media
Turns out Yunho was extremely easy to talk to, and Juliet found that the following fifteen minutes or so passed by as though they were nothing.
It was slightly awkward when the trainee arrived with just the two of them in the room, but that remedied itself when a second boy, just as tall as Yunho, burst into the room, mumbling apologies for being late as the trainer simply laughed and told him to get ready.
The atmosphere was definitely more lighthearted than what Juliet was used to at SM, perhaps due to the jarring difference in the number of trainees in the room. Not that the trainer didn’t take them seriously—in fact, quite the opposite—it was just that everyone was less... tense and had more room to joke around.
The change wasn’t unwelcome, and Juliet finally understood what Yunho meant when he told her she didn’t have to be too nervous.
She does find it slightly nerve-wracking that the second boy would occasionally look at her confusedly whenever Yunho talked to her, but she supposes that it’s inevitable whenever a new trainee joins the company. Hell, it happened plenty of times at her former company as so many trainees would come and go, and everyone would be eager to get to know the new trainees. Some because they wanted to make new friends, others because they wanted to assess and intimidate the competition.
Juliet hopes that in this case, it won’t be the latter.
When they’re given a 5-minute break, all three of them walk back to where their bags are to take a sip—or rather, huge gulps—of water.
“You did great!” Yunho tells her, his bright smile never leaving his face despite how tired they all are.
“Thank you, so did you!”
“By the way, this is my friend Mingi,” Yunho introduces, patting his friend’s back to get his attention. “Mingi, this is Juliet. It’s her first day here.”
“Hi,” Mingi rumbles in his deep voice, “I was a bit confused back there because I thought you two were already friends because you seemed so friendly, but I didn’t recall Yunho having mentioned you before. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable from the staring.”
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it,” Juliet tells him, smiling to reassure him because of how apologetic he sounded. “Yunho’s just really friendly. I would’ve been an awkward mess if he didn’t talk to me first.” The tips of Yunho’s ears turn pink from her praise. “Did you two meet here too?”
Mingi shakes his head. “Nope, we’ve been friends for a few years before we came here.”
She can’t help but blurt out, “Do you only have tall friends?”
The two boys freeze, taken aback, though they quickly recover after a few seconds and burst into giggles.
“No, because we have you as a friend now,” Yunho says cheekily. Juliet can’t even find it in her to be offended, not when they just called her their friend. “Don’t worry, you’re young, you still have time to grow taller! Wait, when we’re you born?”
“2001.”
Mingi grins. “See? You’re fifteen? Sixteen? You have time! Plus, you’re not even that short now!”
“Easy for you two to say! I feel like I’m gonna strain my neck someday from talking to you guys!”
Yunho and Mingi exchange looks before crouching down to her height, though they don’t last long before they whine about how the position makes their thighs burn, especially from all the dancing they did, making Juliet giggle.
“Do you wanna get food with us later?” the older boy asks as he stands back up to his full height. “There’s this stall around the corner from the building that makes really good tteokbokki! Mingi and I always go there after training. You know, we gotta reward ourselves somehow.”
The girl smiles hesitantly. “I mean... if you don’t mind me tagging along, then I’d love to join.”
“Why would we mind? We’re friends now, aren’t we?”
“We... are?”
“You sound so unsure!” Mingi whines. She doesn’t know how she saw Mingi as scary earlier, because all those feelings of intimidation she felt towards him dissipated into thin air the moment they started talking. “C’mon, say it with more confidence!”
“We are!”
“That’s the spirit!”

Note:
all indented braced words are chat messages sent by the fans to avoid confusion
────────── ♔ ──────────
Everyone was excited as they were preparing for their Fever Part 3 promotions even though they just released their Japanese single and the Seasons Song with Kim Jongkook. Today, they were in a cafe that the company rented for their fan call event.
While waiting for the event to start, Minyoung was taking photos with the members to post later their account while the others chatted away.
Jongho: Young-ah, manager-hyung said to give this to you *hands a tumbler*
Minyoung: oh thanks! Jongho! Take a photo with me *does a peace sign and takes a photo*
Wooyoung: Let me join too! *squeezes himself in the photo*
Yunho: Oh me too! *stands behind them posing*
San: Why are you taking a photo without me? *joins in*
Minyoung: Mingi-oppa! Come here *drags the male in and hugs his arm* Someone with long arms needs to take the photo! *hands her phone to Mingi*
Mingi: I feel like I was only called to be the monopod *pouts*
Minyoung: No no. I like you here *smiles brightly*
━━━━━━━━━━━━
Fan: Minyoung-ssi, if you had to choose someone among your members, who will you date? and why?
Minyoung: I really have to choose from them? *rubs her neck awkwardly* I don't want to though? *laughs*
Fan: Like of you weren't part of ATEEZ, who will you date among them?
Minyoung: If I really had to choose then, I'll choose Hongjoong-oppa. As for why...he has money. *laughs*
Hongjoong (in the background): Yah. What are you saying? *laughing*
Minyoung: It's true though! You have more royalties in our songs than any of us. *looking off the camera*
Wooyoung (in the background): After all the times I made you food...tsk *laughs*
━━━━━━━━━━━━
Fan: Minyoung-ah, I'm collecting your photocards. Do you want to see?
Minyoung: mine? oh yes yes! 😍
Fan: so I have this binder and it contains around 180 of your photocards, not including the postcard from your dramas.

Minyoung: 🥺💕 thank you.

Fan: wow. you look very pretty today!
Minyoung: just today? 🥺
Fan: no no. I mean
Minyoung: 😄 I'm kidding. thank you!

Mingi: everyone showered me with hugs. Minyoung probably the most. She follows me around now.

Fan: Who welcomed you back first after quarantine?
San: Mintokki! She stuck by my side the whole way home *laughs* she left me when we saw Mingi though *pouts*
Minyoung loves her members a lot. I heard now she makes sure everyone takes vitamins with her.

Writing Beary Corner
This update was supposed to be set around Wonderwall but then I remembered I wanted to set Minyoung’s hair color change to be for Dreamers to Deja Vu promotions I solicited questions before and I think this was all the questions I got? If I missed yours, please shoot a message and I’ll try to answer it in an update or through an ask answer! I am not sure how many photocards every member has by now but let’s just say the fan who showed Minyoung their photocards has everything haha
This was a super rough update too haha it probably looks weird but since I used my phone I cannot look at it fully. I also used emojis to show how Minyoung would react to the fan.
Sorry and thank you for your interest! I will try to update whenever I could but as stated in Minyoung’s Masterlist post, this was more of just a collection of imagines to this OC. Real life is kicking my butt though haha but I’ll post! I will do it hahaha See you next time!
