BEN Drowned

He will get soooo pouty about it omg

Like, Helloooo?? He's right there???

Why would you even have fictional crushes if you have a boyfriend right next to you at all times?

(He thinks this as if he doesn't have the fattest crush on Bayonetta smh)

As you rant and rave about your latest fictional baby girl, he will simply sulk and sigh

When you realize this, you will immediately stop talking and place a hand on his back worriedly

"Hey, you ok?" you ask, your brows furrowing

He will let out another dramatic sigh and turn away from you, a small angry expression forming on his face

You will sit in silence for a few minutes, trying to think of what possibly set him off like this

All of a sudden, it hits you

"baby...are you upset I was talking about N?" you ask, a light chuckle coming out while you speak at the pure absurdity

"maybe" he mumbles

This makes you fully laugh, and makes BEN look at you with shock

"What are you laughing at?!" he asks, stunned

You wrap your arms around him and kiss him all over his face

"you were jealous" you finally say, kissing the top of his pointy ear

He rolls his eyes and scoffs "whatever"

You press your head to his shoulder "Well you don't have to worry. Because you're my favorite no matter what" you mutter, finishing off the statement with a kiss to his shoulder

He finally turns and looks at you "promise?"

You smile and kiss his lips, to which he frantically does back as if this is the first time you've kissed him in years

"Promise" you say, looking into his eyes

He smiles and kisses your forehead "Ok"

Eyeless Jack

He tries to be reasonable with it

Logically he knows that sometimes, characters in media are something people can latch onto, whether that be for projecting their own little spins on the characters, writing stories with them, and finding them attractive

He knows this

But that little itty bitty part of him gets anxious

With his demon senses, he can get very territorial

And he's pretty much marked you as his and his alone

So when that comes into question, even with something as silly as fake characters, that territorial part of him spikes up

He will try to (not so) subtly show off to prove he's better than any fictional character

He will also get way more physically affectionate with you, making sure he gets his smell on you

He will also make sure to show you off as his partner to all of the other creeps

Which is strange for him, because he's always so reserved and isolated from the others

suddenly making a show of nuzzling up your neck, kissing you passionately and leaving very obvious bite marks all across your body is very strange

That being said, you catch on rather quickly what's going on with him

But you decide you won't embarrass him by calling it out

Instead, you just don't talk about your fictional crushes around him anymore

And suddenly, the territorial behaviors stop almost altogether

Weird, huh?

You just go along with it, keeping the information in the back of your mind that if you ever want some extra affection, just start talking about fictional people you find attractive and that'll do the trick

GHOULS HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

Halloween season has arrived, and I've decided to note some of the headcanons that I've had in mind for the ghouls recently.

Here are my favorite ghouls / by elements

🪐Omega = he's not really a Halloween guy. I mean, they already wear costumes. He can't be bothered to put effort into it. Just to fit in, and because it makes his companions happy, he'll dress up as an alternative version of ghouls. He might come out of the abbey in his true form because it's the perfect opportunity for it, or just add something to his usual look that enhances the "infernal" aesthetic. In the end, he's the one ghoul that actually scares people away, even without trying.

🪐Aether = always wears handmade costumes. It's elaborated with a lot of details but comfy. Halloween is for him the best opportunity to create a look for himself that he usually wouldn't have the courage to wear daily. He might cosplay as a 70-80's rockstar for example, and you'd recognize who he's supposed to be from miles away. Also more importantly, he's the costume-nurse. He always makes sure his costume has an integrated bag or pockets for glue and stitches. Last year for example, he was a jedi, and he was very happy about being able to wear a discreet tool belt.

🪐Phantom = of course, a vampire. But he'll only wear something dark and classic. Think old horror movies. He'll have his hair pull back, very bad fake fangs, red contacts, a cape… He'll also be fully invested in his role all night, so expect to hear some old English come out of his mouth at all times. Just call him by his character's name exclusively !

⛈Zephyr = loves having costumes that include his disabilities. Although he can walk just fine, going trick-or-treating is very long and difficult for him. He decorated his wheelchair as the Scooby-Doo van last year. He's done a lot of physical therapy this year though and feels excited about trying canes instead.

⛈Cirrus = she likes opening to kids that trick-or-treat at the Abbey's doors. In consequence, she will usually wear something that'll be easy to understand for them. Can be a simple witch, Morticia, Emily from the Corpse Bride… Last year she was Maleficient. Her costumes are never modest, though. She puts a lot of work into looking believable. It's a lot of organization and stress, but she always cherishes the kids' reaction in the end.

⛈Cumulus = She's always something evil. She doesn't cosplay as anyone in particular, and only makes her own looks. She loves elaborated makeup. She can paint her whole body if she desires too. Don't ask her who she's supposed to look like, this is always an original from her collection. She's here to impress.

🌿Mountain. Mountain... = he always fails his costumes. Nothing fits him. He never plans long enough in advance for it to work. He's disappointed about it every year, and still can't manage to fix it. This year though, he finally gathered the courage to ask for help. He'll have Sunshine to help him find clothes, and Cumulus for the hair and makeup. He'd like to be a hobbit, but he's starting to think he'll be more believable if he cosplays Gandalf - of course, he's not really hobbit-sized. If he can have an excuse to smoke all night, well...

🔮Sunshine = she doesn't have time for costumes. Her main concern is to be the party's organiser. Before she joined the Project, the ghouls had never planned any kind of gathering together for Halloween. She wants to be with her family and that's the only thing that counts. She'll just put something a bit festive, do her hair and put on some "scary" makeup, (which for her is dark shadow and eyeliner). Maybe washable dye or glitter in her hair this time around ? Nothing that can make dancing and running around uncomfortable !

🔮Swiss = is there a better opportunity to be naked ? On Halloween, his sole missions are to 1.be sexy 2.dance. Whatever year it is, his shirt is always wide open and tucked in his pants to enhance his tight waist, his chest always exposed, and his feet always moving... He doesn't mind any addition of costume or makeup that will make him prettier, but never purposefully goes that way by himself. 🔮Aurora = absolutely has the most feminine costume you'll see the entire night. She cannot not be hot, but maybe not as intensely as Swiss. She's the girl that wears the bunny outfit, the Barbie outfit, the Tinkerbell or Daphne outfit... The hair is down and the skirt is mini. Her only rule is : sexy but always secure. She has to wear warm tights and good shoes. Being pretty shouldn't stop you from running, jumping, and staying up all night. Special mention : this year, since it's their first Halloween together, they want to do a hot-couple-costume.

🌊Rain = has the boring but cute costume. If you don't know him, you can't really see how it's a costume most of the time - to be honest he always looks like that. He just genuinely doesn't need more material than what he already has. He thinks dressing up is cool but hates having to spend his whole night adjusting his costume or being careful with it. Last year he was the Phantom of the Opera, but he found the mask restraining. This year he's thinking about maybe a proper suit, a hat, his usual jewels and a bit of makeup. With some luck it'll pass as a period costume.

🌊 Mist = will always hide herself under her costume. You can never recognize her. The only thing she cares about, is surprising others. If she dresses as a character, it'll be a slay version of them. This year she's doing the Grinch, so expect green manucure, a pink dress and fake eyelashes on that green fursuit. Count on her to wear bad bald caps and colored paint all over her body. She doesn't take herself too seriously and is only here to have fun.

🔥Alpha = much like Omega, doesn't care about Halloween. You'll find him doing his actual job in the Abbey, at the yearly ritual that none of the new ghouls have the decency to assist. Traditions are really lost with the young generations...

🔥Ifrit = was, is, and will always be the guy who shows his muscles. He's into action movies and old rockstars, so it's only ordinary that he dresses as such. He'll be Han Solo, or Freddy Mercury, or Wolverine. Ifrit has the softest heart out there, but he's peak masculinity when it comes to looks, and he cares about his heroes. Right now, he's into 00's sci-fi/horror and still searching for some cool costume that will stick to his skin just *right*.

🔥Finally, Dewdrop = Don't ask stupid questions. Don't joke about Halloween with him. Don't even make suggestions. He has already had everything planned since November 1st. He has notebooks full of dark designs for corpse paint that involve fake (or real ?) blood, and a wide range of colored face paints in his drawer just for that event. He'll spend his afternoon looking for the perfect color, and he'll do intricate designs with extremely thin brushes on his face before the night starts. Dewdrop needs to look like he just sacrificed something in an old forest and burnt a church. He loves the theatrics of wearing long dark robes and being covered in blood. Halloween truly is his way to express himself and explore his own graphic world.

[Jan 22 to 28 ; week 4/52 || I. love. my. internship. like. I have been having the most fun time problem solving and troubleshooting. it's also super satisfying to see the outcome of my code. it's been a while since I used python (I've been coding on C) so I forget that python has a lot of inbuilt functions that would do the same tasks I inadvertently entrust my nested loops with, and finding out about them is always so joyous (although it means I have to scrap off several chunks of code). i am a bit annoyed though, because the other intern isn't really doing any work that we're entrusted with so I'm having to carry the team and it's taking me too much time. but oh well. I've suggested we split tasks from next week, hopefully that'll make things better.

I've also been procrastinating a lot when it comes to my masters applications and it really hit me this week when I had to run to uni several times to get things approved and completed. Now that I'll get to work from home I need to set up a proper schedule to get application work completed wayy in advance. also need to resume my GRE prep from next week.]

Hey guys, it's Loaf here!

I've been pretty much inactive on this blog/project for the past several months. While it's already February, I never got a chance to say this here yet: Happy New Year! ✨🎉 I hope January has been well for y'all!!

On my end, I've last mentioned here that my activity would be heavily dependent on my "college era", with me trying out college for the first time (I took it online). A few months ago, I had taken finals and finished my Fall term. After that, it's my Spring term.

Well, I have an update on that: ...I dropped out!

As someone who's grown up with a sedentary lifestyle (meaning I'm mostly spending my time either laying around, sitting a lot at the computer desk, not physically active, etc) and as someone with a very sporadic sleep schedule, I realize I never really made room in my life to take on academics again. I was never interested in college to begin with or with getting a degree.

Maybe in the distant future I'd try college again, when my life's more in order...? Who knows, LOL

Also in terms of inactivity: my focus has been on other things, like just drawing general fanart and working on other smaller projects.

This inactivity does not reflect my feelings towards A Salmon Good Time. I'm still very, very passionate about this silly project, and have no plans to abandon it! As I've mentioned above, my attention's just been on other things recently.

I feel like I've said this a lot, but I do apologize for the lack of responses to Asks! I've looked through my Ask inbox and see the questions & requests that've been sent to me over a month or several ago... I will get to answering those eventually!

Until then, keep an eye out for some movie scene drawings, answered Asks, and a small treat that'll be posted right after this post... 👀

From an Untitled Dreamling Forced Marriage AU

Dream wishes he had tried harder to convince Robert to open their marriage. Then maybe he could have had someone else’s child, and taken the fall for an affair and run off, out of this cold, loveless place. But Robert had vehemently refused him even that small comfort, and Dream now finds himself hating his husband for it. Now he was trapped forever, with no escape.

Warm:

Continuation of Untitled Portrait of a Man (I Want to Obliterate Me)

“Hey,” Hob greets warmly, breaking Dream out of his reverie and forcing him to reboot his brain. “Hob,” Dream says, cringing internally at how breathless he sounds despite Hob being the one breathing heavily at his door. If the other man notices, he doesn’t comment on it. “It’s bloody hot outside,” Hob replies. He runs a hand through his sweat soaked hair and Dream has to clamp his jaw shut before he blurts out something stupid like “it’s bloody hot inside too”.

Soft:

From the Untitled sequel to A Dream for a Viscount

He wakes to sunlight filtering through the windows, soft and gentle. Hob is snoring peacefully next to him, a rarity as he is normally an early riser while Dream prefers to sleep in. Dream’s last night of heat had been his most fervent, and he blushes when he remembers how desperately he had begged for Hob’s knot, had even begged the alpha to stay inside him until they both fell asleep.

Hold:

Continuation of Untitled Portrait of a Man (I Want to Obliterate Me)

Dream doesn’t expect Hob to show up for their final session. He has every right not to. When he had left Dream’s apartment last week, Dream had buried himself in his work and his sketches. He obsessively stalked the man's social media accounts and downloaded dozens of photos to use a reference in case he needed them to finish his project. In case Hob decided to not come back. The photos don't hold a candle to the real thing though.

Hurt:

From the Untitled sequel to Break Me, Shake Me

Johanna explains to the group gathered who Dream is, and why he’s agreed to help them. Though many of the group regard him warily, as they should, they all fully accept that he's yet another person that's been irreparably hurt by Roderick. Dream wonders what it is they see when they look at him. Roderick has not left him with scars, nor starved him. But there must be something in his expression because Dream catches more than a few pitying glances.

Book:

Continuation of Untitled Portrait of a Man (I Want to Obliterate Me)

“So are you going to let me see what you've done so far, or do I need to wait for the finished product?” Hob asks, settling himself back on the lounge and looking far too comfortable. He doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get dressed, much to Dream’s chagrin. It’s not that he minds Hob’s company, but he’s so horny he might actually explode if Hob doesn’t dress and leave soon. “When I have something worth sharing, you will be the first to see it,” Dream replies, more curt than he'd intended. Hob doesn't seem bothered by his shortness though, he simply huffs in amusement before he stands and walks over to where Dream is sitting as he finishes some additional lines on his sketches. On instinct, Dream pulls his sketchbook close to his chest when Hob is close enough, and when he looks up, he finds himself staring at the most brilliant amber brown eyes he’s ever seen. He almost tells Hob to sit back down just so he can sketch them.

Scare:

Red:

“ ‘m not drunk,” Morpheus insists. Hob snorts. “Sure, sure, and I had the queen of England over at my place this summer,” Hob jokes. “I’m serious!” Morpheus insists, huffing and puffing out his cheeks like a small child. It’s absolutely adorable, if not absolutely terrible for Hob’s balance. Morpheus’s cheeks and lips are both flushed cherry-red from the cold, the most color Hob’s ever seen on the other man since they met. It was a really good look on him. A very tempting look. “Pretty sure your boyfriend would agree with me,” Hob replies, reminding himself that no matter how cute and tempting Morpheus looked, Hob wasn’t a homewrecker. Even if Baz would have thanked him for him and written him a check for enough money to pay the rest of his rent and tuition for the rest of the year. Morpheus furrows his brow. “Boyfriend?” he asks in a confused state. “What boyfriend?”

Hip:

From the Untitled sequel to Break Me, Shake Me

“What do you like, baby?” Hob asks again. “Tell me, I’ll give it to you.” Dream wants to say, look at me. Tell me you can't live without me. Instead, he places a hand on the alpha’s chest, pushing him back and off of him until Hob is sitting on his ankles watching him, his eyes never leaving Dream’s. Then Dream turns and presents himself, bracing on his elbows and knees as he spreads his legs as wide as he can manage. “Take me rough, just like this,” Dream whines. “I want to feel you so deep inside me, I forget everything else.” Hob growls and grabs him by the hips, before the alpha finally, finally does what Dream’s been fantasizing about for weeks and sinks himself into the omega’s cunt.

Tree:

From Chapter 3 of Set the Night on Fire

“You need to leave,” Dream says, his voice low and dangerous as he hears the adventuring party advance further into his territory. By his estimates, they would be at the bottom of the trail leading up the mountain in an hour. “What? Why?” Hob asks, sitting up and now fully awake. Dream does not explain further, he simply grabs Hob by the waist, careful not to squeeze too hard on the soft human’s body, before he dashes out of the cave and jumps from the cliff, taking off into the chilly morning air. “What the fucking hell!” Hob yells as Dream carries them high above the trees, and as far away from the fast approaching humans as the bounds of his curse will allow. He cannot allow the humans to see Hob. He cannot allow them to think Hob is aligned with him. If they do, they’ll kill him, and Dream would not be able to stand it if he loses another human companion.

Precure Daily's Sixth Anniversary

On April 10, 2018, I posted the first review in the project that became Precure Daily. It wasn't actually on tumblr at that time, but on Facebook. The plan was to watch an episode every day and just post some thoughts, but it evolved into reviews and screenshots and that necessitated a whole blog, and here we are. That was six years ago today!

Six years. It's hard to believe. I honestly, truly didn't think I'd still be doing this. Whether I petered out before the end, or managed to get it all done in the 2-3 years I anticipated, I figured I'd have stopped by now. But somehow I haven't given up yet! I'm still watching, still writing, and still getting new fans to share with, and that makes it all worth it.

The past year was slow, I will readily acknowledge it. I only got about 7 reviews out in that time, including the one that just went up earlier today, but one of those was the Go Go movie. That was a whole undertaking, it took me nine months to get out. Granted, for about 6 of those 9 months it was just sitting there unchanged. I'd open it occasionally to poke at it but then not end up getting much done. Maybe it still wasn't the best it could have been but I'm proud of it nonetheless. It was a good review for a good movie. Also, I got to review the very first All Stars, even if it was a short film. Having recently wached the most recent All Stars brings that experience full circle and it's real nice.

One small hiccup is that, at the time of writing, I haven't yet gotten out the traditional Honoka birthday post. I just haven't had time to sit down and gather artwork for it. Hopefully that'll come out in the next day or two!

Outside of the blog, let's look at the wider world of the Precure series over the last year

I said last year that I hadn't finished Delicious Party, and that's still true. When it was on air, I was watching it with a friend and she was really into it; we are going to resume watching together to finally push through it.

HIrogaru Sky's second half was good, it lacked a little bit of the driving power of the first half and the villain plot never properly came together in my opionion. I still love the characters, I think they're my favorite cast in a good while.

I did not watch Otona Precure. Although I've watched Go Go before, I want to finish this current watchthrough for the blog before I jump into it. Maybe I'll even review it as I go, that remains to be seen. I've heard mixed things about it and I'm not very big on the idea that the girls just go back to teenagers when they transform, but I'll reserve judgment.

Wonderful Precure did not appeal to me when information started coming out, and I fell off it for a few weeks when the first couple eps didn't impress me, but I decided to keep going and it's thoroughly enjoyable. I don't think it's going to crack my top 10 but it should be a solid middle of the road series.

I watched the Delicious Party Precure movie and Precure All Stars F with friends in fairly close proximity, and wow do those movies exist on opposite ends of the spectrum. DeliPa's film was one of the weakest Precure movies I've seen, while All Star F was phenomenal. I need to rewatch it.

I did say last year that the blog would look different when I finish Go Go. That is still true. I should be able to wrap that up in a few months, then comes the next phase of things. Deets when it happens.

And also just because I can, here's some recommendations for shows outside of Precure you should watch that came out in the last year-ish:

Honestly I haven't talked about it... At All here because I'm afraid I'll be fucking crucified for it but, this is my blog and my portrayal and I do what I want so! I want to talk about Perceptor and Brainstorm's relationship here for a minute and why I hate don't think s*mpatico works.

As a note: Brainstorm isn't my muse, he's not My Guy, but I do love a good analysis.

Anyways, that aside, the problem I have with it first and foremost is that Perceptor isn't even part of the equation. He has very little of a role in their dynamic and a lot of it comes from Brainstorm and his hangups. All these problems they have with each other aren't even necessarily Perceptor's fault.

There is, I feel, a major class divide between them. Brainstorm was cold constructed, a fact he kept private from everyone, even Chromedome, until the Killswitch. The one exception to this rule would be Nautica, who he even told his original name. Because of this, he has MASSIVE self esteem issues. He begins working at Kimia, and he most likely worked his ass off to climb in the ranks as much as he could.

Enter Perceptor, who, by pure circumstance, ends up on Kimia to work on Kup alongside Brainstorm. This is the one time they worked together. We don't know how well they worked together, but based on Perceptor's major reservations and distaste for the project, it wouldn't surprise me if he ignored him for the most part. Not off to a great start.

They leave Kimia and... oh what do you know, Perceptor is assigned to watch over the guy you just worked on. What do you know, Perceptor gets the credit for your shared work. And, while the alternative ended up being quite terrible for Perceptor, I can only imagine Brainstorm was bubbling with jealousy over the fact he was sent with Kup in what Seemed a highly regarded position.

POV: You're Brainstorm, this guy comes in, he's a microscope, he was forged, he is doing what he was meant to do. High Command recognizes his work. They let him go on missions. You're left on Kimia.

Anyways, fast forward a few years and you're really high up in Kimia, you're both notorious and respected. You have a team that works under you. This is your time to shine. And then that damn microscope comes back, and in the span of NINE MONTHS he's not only either On or working hand in hand With the ethics committee, but he was also the one who was requested to go study Megatron. What The Fuck. You're getting kinda sick of this guy and you've interacted all of once. People keep comparing you to him. What The Fuck x2.

A bit later you join the Lost Light, you think, okay maybe I've finally escaped this guy's shadow. GUESS WHAT! HE'S HERE TOO! AND HE'S BEEN MADE THE CHIEF SCIENCE OFFICER!! Not only that but the majority of your old team is onboard the Lost Light, and they get transferred to working under this guy! What The Fuck x3!

So... what do you do? Well, anything any well adjusted person would do: You hinge your entire self worth on one-upping this guy and act out as much as possible until you surpass him. You even try pushing his boundaries to see if that'll get anything out of him.

And this guy barely even gives a shit about you. He barely even knows you exist.

Anyways. All this to say: I do not think they get along, I do not think they're even friends, and I especially do not think they would enter any sort of relationship.

GMMTV's Gen 2 problem

I am not impressed that GMMTV just commenced representation of BounPrem. Why? Because their priorities recently have looked a lot like this:

Gen 2 (or maybe stylized Gen Z? still thinking of a name for them...)

Pillars & Pillar-adjacents

Personalities (think Godji, Nicky, Jennie)

LYKN

Girls & Basement dwellers

Rookies

And I hate it.

IMO, Gen 2 is far too overexposed for the sheer lack of talent in their group. I mean out of all of them they only have, who? Fourth? JimmySea on a good day? And honestly, Gen 3 is already starting to debut in roles but they don't seem to get content that'll be widely received. And a lot of the potentially interesting stories (that inevitably get ruined by poor direction/writing) are being funneled to Gen 2 instead of elsewhere, where they belong... I don't mind JimmySea (and to a lesser extent GemFourth) getting good stuff but stop just allowing PondPhuwin, ForceBook, and JoongDunk to do whatever tf they want and start giving Gen 3 & basement dwellers something to do!

Pillars and pillar-adjacents are doing everything I want them to do (OffGun never unemployed, TayNew remarried, KristSingto look to be on the horizon). I mean, we do need to have a serious conversation about letting OffGun take a very long break...but that's a conversation for another time. Plus, GMMTV has turned around and given EarthMix a Japanese remake when they know they've been having problems with Japanese distributors...seems dumb to me.

The personalities will always be employed and, honestly, I rarely watch their content unless my faves are guesting. I like Jennie in a lot of the stuff she's been in. Plus, I feel like their content doesn't require too many resources, so I don't think it's a huge concern to have the personalities continue to stay booked.

But where things get interesting to me is how GMMTV seems to be pouring a lot into making Project Alpha guys into actors... Like P'Tha if you don't let those boys be tpop idols and stop shoving every remotely soft looking boy into a ship!! Nothing is worse than an "actor" who really wants to be a singer istg!!

And this leads me to another issue I have and that is how only like 5 out of: Mook, View, June, Jan, Ciize, Tu, Neen, Namtan, Pod, Thor, AJ, JJ, Luke, Sing, Pluem, Joss, etc., can get work at a time. Like I know they do het and ensemble stuff at times but it really feels like they don't get the stuff with the juicy marketing budgets.

Then there's the poor rookies. And I'm not talking new to the company like Sky and Inn. I'm talking about the ones who've been signed for at least a year now and only have, at most, support roles under their belts. These are the Javas and Indys of the world. Sometimes I forget they're even represented by GMMTV the way they haven't had a chance to showcase any talent.

And then there's all the new male talent who rightfully got lead roles basically immediately. Sky's in a homoerotic het drama with Nani. Inn and Great are practically having sex onscreen by GMMTV standards. Perth was basically assigned to a ship before he even signed with GMMTV... I have a feeling these guys will continue to get more and more roles thrown at them based on the success of their previous dramas, their acting skills, and the hype for their current/future ones dramas.

All this makes me wonder where on earth former Wabi Sabi artists fit in? As for Santa, I don't think we'll have to worry about him because I have a feeling he'll either be a basement dweller, get mostly het roles, or be paired with a LYKN member so he can finally breathe the same air as a functioning idol. Same with Yacht--except he'll almost certainly be sent to the basement for not having the GMMTV vibe (I'll explain on another post). But if GMMTV wants to cast BounPrem together, I feel like they'd have to carve out a space for them that they'd usually give to FirstKhao and pillar-adjacents like EarthMix. Maybe GMMTV can do that but it just doesn't seem like their bandwidth his large enough, nor their story selection good enough to do right by BounPrem. I hope I'm wrong but that would require GMMTV to care more about all of their artists rather than just Gen 2.

Thanks to @authoroflight for the original template! (Though I might have customized it beyond recognizability ksdjgnsd)

2023... I got a lot of art done this year compared to past years! Though the year started out slow, between trades and commissions, the first quarter of the year somehow managed to have at least one good drawing a month, even if March's old-sketch-paintover looks a little strange next to all the creatures. XD; May and June continued the theme of painting over old, though June's original was considerably newer than May's. It also took me forever to find it!! Several of the ones I'd been going to put for June turned out to be from different months (no date on them so was going by modified date at first, oops!). And in July of course there was the Clysmia comic, August with the Choco 'comic'. September was another low but I managed to churn out another paintover. October of course had my annual flower-drawing saga with the last one featured here, and in November I got bored and drew Comet, and December held a delightful surprise in the form of a book-illustrating commission. :3 Gonna keep that one to just a preview since it's part of something that'll be published.

But! Let's go through all the rest. Keep reading for more on the rest of the pieces.

May - A fittingly sunny pic of my character Nola. This was another one that I think had started from a paintover and just went places from there. Still a little strange-looking, but oh well. Plus a photo of some sunflowers in the background. XD

June: Progress pic of an absolute freak. An attempt was made to sketch out a hand to keep it from hiding, but I never did get back to this pic... 😂

July: As mentioned above, a comic for my good friend Dia featuring her gal Clysmia!

August: The tail end of a final ArtFight attack against Chocobir! I had so much fun putting in on the Easter eggs, and Choco is so cute!

September: The suave business lizard himself, it's Nell! Another one that's painted over an older sketch. Overall I think I improved the face shape a bit since the sketch? Maybe?

October: The final flower from Floratober 2023! I had a lot of fun and it was so great getting so much feedback this year. The wonders of posting on places other than Tumblr! lol.

November: Comet from Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san! Whenever I need to get away and draw, Comet is there as my comfort anime. :) It's been a while since I've drawn the girl and watched the last bundle of episodes!

December: And of course, December's art! From a very fittingly snowy-themed project. :) I don't know yet how much I'll be able to talk about it, but it's certainly going to keep me busy for a while!

Do you have any tips for saving up money for lolita? I was never able to wear lolita in the past but I want to finally start buying some pieces and building a wardrobe now that I’m 18! I know Taobao is an option if you’re a college student on a limited budget, but a lot of it isn’t very well-made and I’d rather invest in mostly secondhand brand (even though it’s definitely pricier and the market is kinda crazy rn). I already know where to look for pieces, so I’m mainly concerned about, y’know, actually being able to afford them. Any financial advice for a newlita??

hello!! my advice would be to slowly accumulate items you truly like, and be sure that you aren't impulse buying. it doesn't have to happen all at once. most bigger wardrobes you see online have usually been built over the course of years, so it's important to not compare yourself to others. remind yourself that everyone starts somewhere. the market does get a bit crazy with overpricing and scalpers, but you can definitely find great prices if you're in the right place at the right time. it's a lot easier to get a good deal on damaged pieces (but make sure it's salvageable! look for minor damages like yellowing lace from sun damage, loose buttons, color bleeding) and make it a project to restore them. patience is key! i would put aside some money here and there and save up for pieces you know you'll wear. with that being said, it's a good idea (and less overwhelming!) to plan out what you want your wardrobe to look like, planning out coords, and figuring out which pieces you need for them before you start buying. that way you'll know exactly what you're looking for when you're searching the markets! a capsule lolita wardrobe is a really great option for when you have a limited budget, maybe you could try your hand at building one that suits your taste. the idea of it is to basically gather items that you could easily mix and match, all while not having too many of each. i recommend items that are more versatile. if you have a blouse with detachable sleeves, you have a short sleeve blouse and long sleeve blouse for the price of one. just as an example, a standard capsule wardrobe could consist of 1 petticoat, 1 bolero, 1 cardigan, 1 jacket, 2 blouses, 2 JSK, 2 skirts, 2 OP, 4 pairs of socks (maybe 2 OTK and 2 UTK) a bag, a pair of shoes, and accessories that'll go with everything, and so on! (you can add or subtract depending on your liking) it's easier to pick colors, prints, patterns that harmonize well (picking a general theme/color is great to narrow it down) so you could make a bunch of coords with the same items by swapping stuff out. quality pieces over quantity!

2023 closing notes

As this year comes to a close it's almost obligatory to say something about it, I guess. Get a little personal after being more on the closed off side for a while.

It's had its ups and downs. The downs were pretty deep and the ups were pretty high. But most of the downs were from the beginning to middle of the year, most of which I don't really remember to be honest. Most of the ups were just in the last few months. The downs are mostly resolved, and the ups were mostly long term goals and general life progress though, so I'll call '23 a win, even if it was a tough one and I really had to fight for it. So I'm gonna try to focus on the ups.

I replaced my shitty cursed car that breaks down constantly that was a constant money sink from how often it broke down. I like my new car way more. I got an apartment that I can afford myself with no need for roommate nonsense, and I love my place. I made general mental health progress and came to terms with some stuff and learned how to cope with those things in a healthier way! I reconnected with people and even repaired a bond that meant a lot to me that I thought was broken forever. I made wonderful new friends and got closer with some old ones, and started coming out of my shell again after mostly shutting down for a while. I got my brain more in gear with creative stuff and finally really know what I wanna do in terms of projects and I have something I can keep up with and stay passionate about.

I had a rocky time with music for a bit due to some complicated personal issue involving some harassment junk from the previous year that made me lose most of my motivation for a bit and nearly scrap two whole albums (one of which was just shortened to an EP for my sake), but I managed to make some stuff and am getting it back. I can feel more improvement in my general sound and I think I made some of my best stuff this year, even if it was less stuff.

I've kind of had a rough past however-many years, but I feel like this is the one where I've made the most progress and now, at almost 27, I feel like I'm finally starting to figure out who I am, to a degree. I've had a really weird relationship with my sense of self for a very long time and I'm not sure I'll ever fully grasp it. The bottom line is I just don't think I experience being a person in the way that most people would consider normal. That'll either make sense to some people or it won't. Maybe I'll figure it out and maybe I won't- I'm not gonna stress about it as much as I used to.

In 2024 I plan to launch Sableheart. I'm hoping earlier in the year, but my life is unpredictable and I've just kind of accepted that and won't let that fact stress me out over deadlines too much. I work best when I'm relaxed. A good friend helped me overcome a little writing rut I was in the other week and I'm still so excited just to show everyone the prologue alone, I've been really working hard at it. :) Either way though, my progress with it has been relatively fast even if it doesn't feel like it. I started serious development (including the decision to develop it in the first place) only several months ago.

2023 was me getting a foothold and maybe in 2024 I can keep climbing. I'm hoping that this is the light at the end of a very long, very dark tunnel- and I hope 2024 treats everyone else well too.

#on sense of self: i have dissociative problems and ive known this for YEARS i just dont know the full nature of them or how deep they run #just that i have a general disconnect from myself somehow and that i have memory and time perception problems because of it #im trying to figure it out but i noticed i make more progress figuring it out if im calm about it #and sometimes its a little hard to be calm when your general feelings are 'oh god who the fuck am i' LMAO #sableheart has paused here and there the last few months due to life changes and some emergency commissions i had to take #which burn me out tbh but i only have one more and then im back on track #wildemusings

some mind games ramblings

mg:t is at 114,162 words as of the partially unfinished chapter 6 update that'll be out soon! we've hit over 100k words again, after so many years.... ;-; I FEEL SO ACCOMPLISHED

ive barely began ch7 and im so excited. GUYS WE'RE LITERALLY 3 CHAPTERS FROM BEING DONE WITH THE GAME??? HOLY SHIT. HOLY FRICKIN SHIT.

and chapter 7!!! has a lot of fun shit in it!!! that im looking forward to jumping into. chapter 6 was FUN to write and i think ch7 will be just as fun!!! I DONT KNOW, IT'S JUST AWESOME WHEN YOU REALLY START LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING SHIT WRITTEN DOWN??? Maybe all I needed was antidepressants to help my brain get to where it needs to be able to kick into writing gear! whatever the case may be, we are blasting through chapters now!

i also have quite the list of edits planned whenever I get to doing earlier chapter edits again, including adding more content to some! im still trying to add more personality choices in, and there's some places i want more choices in general for interactions with characters and the team members, especially. I'll likely be rolling out updates every once in a while, when I feel up to doing edits (which is fairly often, there's times where I ONLY want to edit).

I've also decided to do a lock-in point at the very end of B1, just to make things a bit easier to write as you guys wont be able to import saves and I don't want anyone to get the idea that this isn't a romance game. The lock-in point will give you a suggestion based either on who you have the highest flirt points with OR the highest friendship points. As some characters mainly have friendship points available, (or in Freja's case, is uncomfortable with flirting but is highly receptive to you befriending her) I want to make sure that's an included part to the lock-in. You will be able to choose someone else other than your suggested RO, but some will have warnings attached regardless. (Like Fawn, who will only be romanceable by women or non-binary folks who plan to present either androgenously or femininely. She is locked from masc enbys.)

I dont know how much more customization will be offered in the next chapters, but i know some things we wont get to till b2. i dont really expect much more for now, though.

I'm really hoping to finish Trepidation this year! I think we're really on path to do so, which is so, so exciting!!! To think I'll finally finish my first game, my heart n soul project... <3

My little demi-sexual Steve Harrington headcanon.

Past Stancy, platonic Stobin, Steddie, Canon noncompliant

Steve is demi-sexual (and yes that's me projecting) he doesn't have a word for it because it's the 80s and honestly who really has time to research the full depth and breadth of sexualities while dealing with the Upside Down and mothering a hoard of rugrats.

It makes sense, he could always tell when a girl was conventionally attractive, what girls he was meant to want to kiss. But he's always been a hopeless romantic, and he never really wanted to kiss them until there was this sense of romance around them. And maybe, just maybe, it's the stories he could make up about a potential future with any of these girls he'd barely even met made it easy to sleep around Hawkins.

Then there was Nancy. He truly loved Nancy, knew she was pretty, knew Tommy had said she was "hot for a nerd", fell in love with her quick wit and brilliant brain, and then she was the most beautiful person he had ever set eyes on. When they had slept together it finally felt right, like she was the only person he could ever see sleeping with again, she was it. When they lost their love he was nothing but confused and alone, and he started trying to see the future he wanted with Nancy with the girls in Hawkins who handed out their number, but none of them were the right fit. And then, when they finally started being friends again, when they were in the middle of hell yet again, he saw that platonic love and mistook it for that attraction he had had years before, for a wanting of just her and the future he had planned.

Of course in-between there was Robin, the quirky, sarcastic nerd he knew he wasn't meant to be attracted to Robin (the lingering superficiality of Tommy's influence). But then they were friends, and forced time spent together became fun together and all Steve wanted to do was hang out with Robin, even in his most traumatising moments that year he was glad it was smart, sarcastic, funny, interesting, Robin with him. All of that, speed tracked by a concoction of drugs, became a love he easily mistook as romantic, and the want happened again. Robin became so beautiful. But in a moment where she made a confession of her own Steve slowly began to understand he could love someone, find them beautiful, and not want to kiss them just because his heart yearned for a connection. Him and Robin were connected, without the romance. Although he'd never felt so much for one person without it being romantic and some days it was all so confusing still, just the presence of Robin (of their capital P platonic relationship) was helping him understand, he loves her infinitely but there's no attraction there, no want, no need.

Eddie is a whole other situation, he's the perfect combination of the two women he has loved, he's nerdy and kind of a loser, he's strong and rebellious, he's funny and flirty and weird. And he's so damn hot, but that'll pass, that feeling, he's falling in platonic love with Eddie and that has historically come along with the blip of wanting to jump into bed with them. He's never had a male friend his age who he actually likes, who he wants to be around, who makes him happy. So that must be why he's having the blip with a dude. But then the blip doesn't blip it becomes sustained, more of an annoying consistent beep, and nothing comes along to stop him falling for Eddie. No one swoops in and tears Eddie away from him, nothing says to him he has to stop (not even Eddie himself). So he starts imaging a future with Eddie, he starts wanting nothing more than to kiss Eddie, softly slowly, madly deeply. He never gets over it.

Thank fuck Eddie Munson is in love with him. They both just need to tell each other.

KID NICK UPDATE I have recently been pretty silent about my games, both new and existing, even though my life has been substantially less busy over the last few months. I feel like I've been neglecting being "in the TTRPG community" to the small extent I already was, but I'm also happier and saner than I was when I was regularly checking in and occasionally commenting on TTRPG Twitter. Which is a trade-off I'll make any day!

NEW GAMES

I know it's an internet creator cliche, but I have several WIPs that I'm really excited about, and they're all at different levels of completion. It's Time is a GM-led dungeon crawl through an infinitely tall tower. It's my first game that really feels like it's about something and it's designed to make you feel certain ways and it's basically done save for some actual dungeon content. That'll probably stay as a digital-only game but should release soon! Card Hearts is a GM-led card-batting TTRPG set in a world where all conflict is resolved through trading card game battles. Players use playing card decks with cards that awaken into powerful unique trading cards at moments of tension and desperation. I've designed the card battling game, all ~200 cards for it, and have a framework of the rules, but I want this game to have stellar art and it's going to require a lot of it. Expect an artless "demo" version of this sometime in the next few months, maybe? It's the project I'm most excited about but it's daunting.

You Teach Me is a GM-less game for 2 players exploring the power dynamics and odd friendship of a trademark-agnostic master tamer and their battling monster. One player is the tamer, a human who issues battle commands to their best friend. The other player is the intelligent but speechless monster, who does the battling and receives that injuries but isn't the one who calls the shots. I have the framework for this one but need to fill it in- it'll incorporate some co-op strategy, as well. I'd like to have a physical release of this. Finally, while I do have other TTRPG projects that with some level of development behind them, I'm also working on a video game with a friend. It's in super early stages, but it is taking up a big chunk of my time. More on that to come, hopefully? EXISTING GAMES Did you know I put out a new game earlier this year? Probably not, because I put it out under a pen name for brand and vulnerability reasons. Well, to hell with that; please go check out Tabletop Foreplaying Game! Hometown Holiday and The NPC Phonebook are both available as physical zines through Indie Press Revolution! If you're going to Gen Con (like me! Idk I miss streaming but my internet has just gotten worse and worse and it just hasn't been sustainable. Maybe one day soon I'll try again.

I recently made a big garland for my room

It felt nice to make something that is actually physically displayed. Also felt so nice to finally use up the vines that had been in their packages for about a year. I can't wait to build off of it. Add danglies. Maybe mess with some fairy lights. Other than that after a deep clean of my room I have a huge pile of sewing projects I'll be tackling when I'm home again. Also incoming in the mail is an mp3 player I'll be filling with songs for my dad. That'll be fun.

Y'know what? I'm pretty excited about 2024, in my personal life. A lot of good things to come.

For one, my birthday is just a few days away! I'll officially be turning 21, isn't that cool? I'm very likely not going to actually use that fact to buy much alcohol or weed or whatever, but I can finally go into 21+ businesses, y'know? My girlfriend has been old enough for a little under 2 years now, and she's really been looking forward to going to such places with me. It seems fun!

I've also got a video appointment right after my birthday, which might be the final appointment before I can officially start receiving a prescription for my ADHD! I really look forward to that. I took Adderall for it in the past, and it really went well, really calmed me down, made me... singular. Felt good to get things done and enjoy media in peace, without The Sludge getting in my way.

Having my ADHD under control will also make it easier for me to focus on pursuing more... meaningful things, like working on my little roleplay worldbuilding project, and starting to practice making digital art, and learning how to ride my bike. Stuff that I really do care about, that I really am excited for, but just haven't gotten around to doing, due to... the sludge.

April first, all fast food workers get an increase to their minimum wage, including me! It'll effectively be a 25% pay jump in my case, and that's pretty dang exciting. Even if my work reduces my hours a bit, it'll just mean making the same money and having more free time. Win-win, so long as I don't get laid off or something, which would really suck.

Some time during this year, my uncle that I live with will move out, and that'll be pretty momentous! I've been dealing with him for about... two years now? and I'm really looking forward to not spending another year being his roommate. It's a multifaceted issue, but the gist of the symptoms is that I can't really put effort into decorating the house I live in, or leave food or hygiene supplies out, because he'll rearrange things or use my stuff. Chronic issue, no solution has worked, just want him gone.

If I no longer live with him, my girlfriend of about 28 months can start staying with me for extended periods of time, and maybe even move in, ooh! That'd be so wonderful. We have so many things we can do when we live together, or at the very least spend a lot of our time together!

This year is also a major election year, the first one I'll be old enough to vote for, and that's not necessarily a good thing, but it could be! and regardless, it'll certainly be interesting.

Some good things are coming to my games, too! MC: Better Than Adventure gets a really cool update, Warframe gets cross-save permanently, and I'm betting Ultrakill's seventh layer will get its missing extras, which would be super majorly cool.

I'm excited for 2024. I'm really, genuinely optimistic that I can find a lot of good this year, and I intend to try.
