Marie sighed as she put down her phone, slight anger boiling in her at the fact her lover had yet to tell her where she had transferred. After her contract was up, Marie hoped she would come to Liverpool.

But she didn't even know if her lover had been offered a contract by them. She knew Real Madrid had offered and that Arsenal had made a swinging bid for the CAM but she didn't know what her lover had chose.

The two, when they first came together years ago, made a promise to never affect the other with their football, they were to focus on their careers and their careers only, the rest they could make work, even if they were oceans apart.

"You okay?" Grace asks Marie, her head tilted in kindness as she asked.

"Yeah, fine." Marie smiles, accepting her friend's hand to pull her to her feet.

"Right." Matt Beard calls, clapping his hands as the group gather around him and the staff. "Now, we've been relatively quiet this transfer season, however, we have got a new arrival." Matt explains.

"You what?" Jenna asks, confused as to how this was all kept quiet, the press more often than not finding a thread to pull on and unravel.

"It was kept quiet and cleverly so." Matt continues. "But please give a drum roll for..." Matt begins.

The Liverpool women all begin to stomp their feet excitedly and start a quiet 'ooh' with jazz hands, it was something they started a few seasons ago to make newcomers feel welcome.

"Our new CAM y/n l/n!" Matt cheers and y/n jumps out from behind the tunnel, a few of the girls cheering loudly as they knew the girl quite well.

Marie however charged forward, her shorter body wrapping into y/n's the taller girl picking her up and keeping her close to her body Maire pulls her head off of y/n's shoulder.

Marie's hands come around her face, cupping her cheeks as y/n keeps a tight grip on her, the Austrian talking quickly at her, the German language spilling past her lips as she questioned her lover.

"Marie, pass auf, dass dein Team da ist." y/n chided quietly.

marie, careful, your team is there.

Marie had been the one who wanted to keep the relationship quiet, and almost six years in, y/n wasn't as worried about people knowing, but she knew Marie still looked over her shoulder.

Marie huffed out an annoyance, tucking her head back into y/n's neck as the woman set her back on her feet and moved over to the rest of the team.

"I know most of you, I am aware, but either way, It is exciting to be play with all you." y/n hums, her English getting slightly confused in her head, which no one bothered to mention.

"This is so exciting." Grace cheers jumping at her friend who laughs and hugs her.

y/n laughed as Grace mimicked her second goal celebration, the new CAM subject to some teasing as she scored her second against Brighton and then panicked, not knowing what to do to celebrate.

In y/n's defence she hadn't expected the shot to go in from so far away, so just stood there in shock for a second as her team jumped on her excitedly.

The group had all changed and were heading to their cars and Marie grabbed her lovers bags, packing them in her car as the two had rode here together.

The team didn't seem to question the fact they were living together, despite Marie living in a one-bed apartment. Out of reflex, y/n muttered a thank you in German and pecked her lover's lips, Marie, holding her neck for a moment to lengthen the kiss.

Marie didn't seem to notice as she continued and shut the boot of her car, turning around to see her team paused confused as y/n stood with an awkward look on her face.

Marie paused, going to ask what was wrong when her hand flew to her lips in shock, as y/n tucked her head in her hands as the team flew into shouts of confusion.

"Well, I guess no better time than this." Marie chuckles. "Yes, we have been together, together since we were 17 and no, we didn't feel the need to tell anyone." The girl explains to her teammates.

y/n still had her head in her hands, annoyed at herself for outing them in such a way, so she didn't notice Marie sigh and slowly kneel, her teammates suddenly silencing in shock.

"Meine Liebe?" Marie asked softly.

my love?

y/n groaned, her head still in her hands as she muttered apologies under her breath.

"Fünf Jahre Liebe mit dir, also vielleicht eine letzte Übertragung, meine Liebe, auf meinen Nachnamen?" Marie asked.

Five years of love with you, so maybe one last transfer my dear, to my last name?

y/n's head snapped up, her hand coming up to her mouth as she noticed her love on one knee, ring box in hand. Grace was crying, wiping the tears which wouldn't stop.

"Ja. Ja. Ja." y/n whispered, tears being blinked away as Marie grinned standing up to hug her lover whispering sweet nothings in her ear as the team cheered.

The two pulled away, leaving just enough space for Maire to slide the ring over y/n's finger, before they met in a kiss made of pure love as their team-mates tried to understand what had just happened.

Constellation: Cygnus, the Goose Bayer, Johann (1572-1625)

Publication date 1655

51 unfolded engraved plates of celestial constellations by Alexander Mair. The very rare fourth edition of Bayer's Uranometria (first published in 1603), the first atlas to cover the entire celestial sphere, in fifty-one star charts, including one containing twelve new constellations unknown to Ptolemy. The illustrations are based on Jacob de Gheyn's designs for the Grotius edition of Aratus, published in Leiden in 1600. Johann Bayer (1572-1625) practised as a lawyer in Augsburg, but his principal interest was in the rapidly developing field of astronomy. His most important innovation was a new system of identifying all stars (prior to the invention of the telescope) by Greek and Roman letters, known today as the Bayer designation. The 1655 edition is much rarer than the 1661 edition" (Milestones of Science Books). "Bayer's was the first accurate star atlas. Earlier star catalogues followed Ptolemy's Almagest in using verbal descriptions to describe the location of stars within the 48 northern constellations of classical astronomy, an awkward system that occasioned constant errors and misapprehensions. Bayer, a lawyer and amateur astronomer, was the first to identify the location of stars within a constellation by the use of Greek letters (with the addition of the Latin alphabet for constellations with more than 24 stars). This simple innovation greatly facilitated the identification of stars with the naked eye, just five or six years before the invention of the telescope, and Bayer's stellar nomenclature is still in use today. Bayer used Brahe's recent observations for the northern sky, and included, in chart 49, twelve new southern constellations observed by the Dutch navigator Pieter Dirckzoon Keyzer and reported by Pedro de Medina. To simplify identification of the stars Bayer included in his typographic descriptions both the traditional star numerations within each constellation and the many names for the constellations employed since Ptolemy (Christies). The Uranometria was reprinted in 1639, 1648, 1655 (this copy) and 1661. Constellations largely identified by cataloger.

When she calls him back, though, Kaidan assumes it's for the date he offered her. Desperate, and hoping she can convince him to hire her during dinner, she agrees.

In 1971 he was expelled from the USSR, lived in France, from 1981 - in the United States, in 2007 he returned to France. Member of the New York Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Arts of several universities and academies of the United States and Europe, Knight of the French Knight of Arts and Letters. Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation (1993).

Comment choisir la bonne Photo lorsqu’il en faut…dix sur des semaines de travail ! Dans ce journal estival, je suis allé à la recherche de ces photos non choisies, oubliées, par erreur ou-et mauvais choix de ma part, perturbé par le temps et le manque de recul sur le travail accompli. Les photos aiment jouer avec nous. Elles se cachent souvent pour réapparaître des années plus tard, lors de nouvelles recherches et une vision enrichie par l’expérience acquise.

Ce sont des photos vues mais non choisies que je vais publier en ce mois d’Août 2023, avec aussi certaines images supplantées par des voisines qui auront été choisies, mais qui auraient aussi bien pu faire l’affaire !

« Samedi 12 mars 2022.

Montaigut fête la sainte Barbe des pompiers. Sortie de la grande échelle, photo souvenir avec Monsieur le maire et des pompiers devant le camion, puis défilé en partant de la place de la mairie vers la salle des fêtes, avec au centre la fanfare. J’ai toujours aimé les fanfares depuis mon plus jeune âge. Cette musique me met de bonne humeur, avec ses personnages qui la compose, ses percussions, parfois des mauvaises notes vite oubliées. Salle des fêtes. Discours, dont celui de mon maire, de la député de Riom, des tas de décorations, musique de nouveau, collation, sourires dont ceux un peu timides de personnes photographiées dans le groupe de sapeurs. Bonne ambiance, beaucoup de monde.

Le restaurant de mon hôtel est fermé ce samedi soir. Je vais dans le seul ouvert de Saint Éloy. Peu de monde. C’est quand même un peu triste une petite ville de province en hiver, et le samedi soir !

C’est la solitude du photographe de fond ! »

Crimes That Shook Britain (Yorkshire)

The Crossbow Cannibal Between June 2009 and May 2010, Stephen Griffiths murdered three sex workers in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

His final attack was captured on CCTV and led to his arrest. He shot his last victim - Suzanne Blamires - with a crossbow as she tried to escape his flat, before stabbing her in the head with a knife.

In custody, he boasted to officers of West Yorkshire Police, ‘I’ve killed loads,’ and also claimed to have eaten body parts of his victims. It’s thought his other known victims - Shelley Armitage and Susan Rushworth - also suffered this fate. Griffiths, who called himself the Crossbow Cannibal, was jailed for life and will die in prison.

The Murder of Jo Cox Jo Cox, 41, was MP for Batley and Spen, West Yorkshire - the constituency where she was born - and was married with two small children, aged 5 and 3.

On 16 June 2016, she was killed outside the library where she was to hold a constituency meeting. She was shot in the head and chest with a sawn-off hunting rifle and stabbed 15 times. Jo’s killer Thomas Mair - a far-right extremist - was convicted of murder on 23 November 2016 and was given a whole-life term.

The Yorkshire Ripper Known as the Yorkshire Ripper, serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, from Bingley, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, was serving 20 consecutive life sentences after he was found guilty of 13 murders and seven attempted murders in 1981.

Over five years, he attacked women across West Yorkshire and Manchester, picking victims he believed to be prostitutes, though not all were.

Once arrested, he attempted to plead guilty to manslaughter, claiming diminished responsibility and saying God told him to kill prostitutes. Sutcliffe served most of his sentence in Broadmoor Hospital, a high-security psychiatric facility, but was judged sane enough to be moved to HMP Frankland in 2016.

Sutcliffe died at University Hospital of North Durham aged 74 on 13 November 2020, having been sent there with COVID-19. He had a number of underlying health problems including, obesity and diabetes. He reportedly refused treatment.

The Kidnapping of Shannon Matthews In February 2009, Karen Matthews, from Dewsbury, called the police when her daughter Shannon, 9, didn’t come home from school. What followed was the biggest investigation by West Yorkshire Police since the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper.

Every newspaper in the country reported on the case, with one offering a £50,000 reward for information leading to Shannon’s safe return.

Three weeks after she’d gone missing, Shannon was found alive at a flat less than a mile from her home. The flat belonged to Michael Donovan - the uncle of Karen’s boyfriend - Donovan was arrested and, soon after, so was Karen Matthews.

In November 2008, both denied charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice. Leeds Crown Court heard Karen had engineered Shannon’s kidnap with Donovan to claim the reward. Shannon had been drugged, tethered, and hidden inside a divan bed during her captivity.

Matthews and Donovan were found guilty of all charges and jailed for eight years. Both have now served their sentences.

The Fox Killings Arthur Hutchinson, also known as The Fox, was wanted by police for rape. Then, on 23 October 1983, he broke into the Sheffield home of Basil and April Laitner.

Also there were their children Richard, 26, and Nicola, 18. Hutchinson killed Richard, Basil, and April, then raped Nicola at knife point before fleeing. He’d already spent five years in prison for attempting to murder his brother-in-law.

After a 39-day manhunt, The Fox was captured and serving life. He will never be released.

The Murder of Sharon Beshenivsky Sharon Beshenivsky had been an officer with West Yorkshire Police for nine months in November 2005. On the day she was killed, the mum of five and her colleague went to an emergency call at Bradford travel agency.

There, they were fired on by armed robbers and Sharon was fatally wounded, her colleague seriously injured. Three men were convicted of her murder and got life. Three others were also jailed in connection to the killing.

A series of witch trials began in Aberdeen on February 17th 1597.

The ‘unprecedented’ scale of witchcraft paranoia in Aberdeen occurred between 1587 and 97, around 40 cases were recorded locally, with many of the individuals – the vast majority female – executed following significant periods of incarceration and torture.

Dittays - lists of charges against a witch read out before the court - often went back 25 - 30 years and included accusations from neighbours and, occasionally, family members. The ‘dittays’ were compiled as the first step in bringing witches to trial. At the trials witnesses would testify to seeing or being involved in certain events corresponding to the charges listed. Many of the dittays were written to a common formula and contained dates and times of day when acts of witchcraft supposedly happened.

One of the most interesting cases in Aberdeen happened from 1596 and concerned a whole family. The mother, Jane Wishart, was brought to trial and eventually convicted on 18 points of witchcraft, although the total number of charges brought against her exceeded 30 and covered a period of over 20 years. The charges included casting a spell on a fisherman who then took to his bed and 'lay bedsick for one month’. The earliest charge related to an incident when five men caught her coming out of the yard of Adam Mair, one of her neighbours, at two in the morning. The men woke up Adam’s wife to tell her what they had discovered and, later that day at about two or three o'clock in the afternoon, two of the men were found drowned in the Auld Wattergang at the Links where they had gone to wash themselves.

Two others who had seen Janet leave her neighbour’s house subsequently offered the testimony against her. Janet’s son-in-law, John Allan testified against her following an incident when he hit his wife and was chastised by Janet. Following this, a brown dog started to come into his bedroom and attack him, although it left his wife alone. This continued until John threatened to complain to the minister and the Kirk Session. Eight days before Janet was apprehended there was heard a rumbling noise in her house which frightened her next door neighbour who thought his house might fall over. This, too, was attributed to Janet’s supernatural powers and formed one of the points of witchcraft on which she was convicted.

Janet’s son, Thomas Leyis, was found guilty of being a ringleader and convicted on three accounts of witchcraft. He is said to have presided at a meeting held at midnight in the Castlegate when many witches convened at the mercat and fish cross 'under the conduct and guiding of the devil present with them’. These people all danced and played instruments about the crosses and Thomas was accused of being foremost amongst them and of hitting Kathren Mitchell 'because she spoilt the dance and ran not so fast as the rest’. Both Janet and Thomas were strangled and burnt as the, following accounts show.

On the 22nd of March the same year John Leyis (Janet’s husband) and their three daughters, Elspet, Janet and Violet were also accused of sorcery. They were absolved on all counts of witchcraft but found guilty of being in the company of Janet and Thomas and acting as their accomplices. As a result they were banished from Aberdeen and the surrounding area and were forbidden to come within 10 miles of the burgh. Unfortunately the dittays for each of these trials no longer exist but Aberdeen’s City Archives do still have the original dittay for the trial of Isobel Strathauchyn - also known as Isobel Skuddie. She was found guilty of witchcraft and burned in March 1597. The charges against her included making up a love charm and gathering up bones in Dyce churchyard, boiling them in water and then taking the water and washing William Symmer of Hatton of Fintray. Thereafter she caused William’s mother to take the bones and throw them in to the River Don, which when she did 'caused the water to rumble in such a manner as [if] all the hills had fallen therein’.

Her dittay includes this passage……..

“Transcription and Translation of Charge Two in the Dittay Given Against Isobel Strathanchyn, February 1597 Secundlie thou are art Indyttit for cu[m]ming to elspet mutray in vodheid vodes and askng fra hir to len the a pennie, q[ui]lk quhen sche had gevin the, thou tuik the pennie and bowitt it, and than tuik a clout and a piece of reid wax, and sewit the pennie and the wax within the clout, and therefter thow having Inchantit that clout thow gawe it to the said elpset mutray, Bidding hir hing the same about hir craig, and quhen sche saw the man sche luffit best, baid hir thin tak the clout w[it]h the pennie and the wax and straik hir face thereft[er] and she sua doing sult atteane to the mariage of the man quhom sche luffit best, and the s[ai]d elspet understanding that thy said directioun to hir was plane witchcraft and devilrie she keist that clout in the fyre, q[ui]lk had almost birnt all hir hous, and this you can not deny.

Which translates to……

Secondly you are indicted for coming to Elspet Mutray in Woodhead woods and asking her to lend you a penny, which when she had given you, you took the penny and bent it, then took a cloth and a piece of red wax and sewed the penny and the red wax inside the cloth, and then having enchanted that cloth you gave it to the said Elspet Mutray bidding her to hang the same about her neck, and when she saw the man she loved best, bade her then take the cloth with the penny and the wax and stroke her face thereafter, and she so doing should attain to the marriage of the man whom she loved the best, and the said Elspet understanding that the said direction to her was plain witchcraft and devilry she cast the cloth in the fire, which had almost burned all her house, and this you can not deny

The Treasurer’s accounts for the execution of 'Skuddie’ are as follows:

"Item, for teuntie sex leadis of peattis to burne thame, 2lib. 13s. 4d. Item, for sex lead of fir 1 lib. 10s. Item, four tar barrellis, 6s. 8d. Item, for tua irne barrellis, 6s. 8d. Item, for a staik, careing and upsetting thairof, 13s. 4d. Item, for sex fadome of towis, 6d. Item ,for careing the barrellis, fir and coillis, to the staik, 6s. 8d. Item, to Jon Justice for his fie, 13s. 4d. Item, the xxi. Of March, 1596, gevin to Gilbert Bairnis, be vertew of one ordinance of counsall, for satisfaction of the expensis maid be him in sustenatioun of the witches preceding that dait, induring thair remaining in prisoun, 20 lib.”

Downhill est une ville qui existe depuis aussi longtemps que le temps de l'Amérique coloniale, elle a connue des périodes de prospérité et des périodes bien moins agréables, comme tout le reste du pays, pourtant elle a toujours su se relever et même renaître de ses cendres, littéralement.

12 janvier 1820 · Downhill est fondée, s'il n'existe aucun document d'archives qui permet de retracer l'histoire de sa construction, ni de dater exactement sa fondation, la date semble avoir malgré tout été adoptée de manière unanime par les habitants et leurs descendants.

13 avril 1822 · Le commerce de fourrure et l'exploitation agricole garantissent la croissance économique de la ville. C. Morrison, un immigrant afro-américain, est placé à la tête de la Downhill Fur Company.

29 février 1826 · R. Nole, un homme d'affaires et investisseur dans de nombreux commerces en ville, est élu maire.

18 mai 1830 · Construction de Parker's Lane où s'y installent des petits commerces.

5 octobre 1835 · Le cap des 2 000 habitants est atteint.

6 juin 1844 · La ville s'agrandit, Cove Road est construite.

18 juin 1845 · Ouverture du Creek Hostel, qui devient rapidement un lieu de débauche.

9 août 1850 · Un tremblement de terre ravage la ville, rapidement abandonnée par ses habitants qui fuient vers d'autres horizons, elle tombe complètement en désuétude.

ATTAC CONVOQUÉE PAR LA COMMISSION PARLEMENTAIRE SUR L'ULTRA GAUCHE

Alors que les violences d'extrême droite explosent en France, le gouvernement lançait avec le Rassemblement National, le 10 mai dernier, une commission d’enquête parlementaire sur les «groupuscules, auteurs de violences à l’occasion [des] manifestations».

Cette commission s'intéresse à «la structuration, le financement, les moyens et les modalités d’action» de ces groupes. Une chasse aux sorcières. D'ailleurs, les financements des lobbies écocidaires ou des groupuscules d'extrême droite ne sont jamais interrogés par le Parlement. Cette «enquête» porte sur la période qui va du 16 mars au 3 mai 2023. Donc entre l'usage du 49-3 et les diverses manifestations spontanées qui y ont répondu jusqu'au 1er mai particulièrement déterminé, en passant par la mobilisation de Saint-Soline.

Dans la continuité des menaces contre la Ligue des Droits de l'Homme et des dissolutions, il s'agit clairement d'intimider et de cibler les collectifs de gauche et écologistes. «Ces groupuscules entravent la liberté de manifester et attaquent nos forces de l’ordre jusqu’à tenter de les tuer», a accusé le député Macroniste Florent Boudié. La proposition a été soutenue et votée par l'extrême droite. Comme si les manifestant-es étaient responsable de la perte de liberté de manifester, et pas les hordes de forces répressives mobilisées pour le moindre rassemblement revendicatif.

Le député Macroniste nantais Mounir Belhamiti explique que cette commission sert à «comprendre l’organisation de ces groupuscules de casseurs, investiguer sur leurs sources de financement, leurs modes d’intervention, pour mieux combattre leurs atteintes à la vie quotidienne des citoyens et aux valeurs de la République». Il expliquait dans la presse : «À Nantes, plus qu’ailleurs probablement, nous savons les exactions de ces groupuscules violents». À entendre cet individu, on peut se demander de quels groupes violents il parle. De la police ? Des néo-nazis qui incendient la maison d'un maire près de Nantes ? Et quel est son objectif ? Une nouvelle vague de dissolutions ? Une répression groupée ?

La définition de «groupuscules d'ultra-gauche» est devenue extensible pour le régime. L'association Attac fait savoir qu'elle a «reçu ces derniers jours une convocation de l’Assemblée Nationale pour la date du 26 juin». Deux autres organisations engagées pour la justice sociale et climatique, Extinction Rebellion et Dernière rénovation, sont aussi convoquées.

La convocation d’Attac a finalement été repoussée au 18 juillet, les deux autres auront lieu à la date prévue. Pour rappel, «l'Association pour la taxation des transactions financières et pour l'action citoyenne» est une structure altermondialiste créée en 1998, dont les revendications sont modérées, à savoir taxer les flux financiers pour réguler la mondialisation à hauteur de 0,01%, comme l'avait préconisé l'économiste Tobin. De fieffés bolchéviques !

Attac est composée d'un conseil scientifique avec des agronomes, économistes, juristes, et a toujours dénoncé, à chaque grand sommet altermondialiste, les actions offensives. De son côté, Dernière Rénovation appelle à une «victoire politique sur la rénovation énergétique, via des actions de perturbation non-violentes.» De dangereux radicaux.

Si Attac est considéré comme un «groupuscule auteur de violences» par le gouvernement alors Contre Attaque est un média de turbo-méga-totale-gauche. Et on peut s'attendre à l'interdiction de centaines de collectifs anticapitalistes, d'associations écolos ou de syndicats… Après les menaces contre la Ligue des Droits de l'Homme et la police anti-terroriste envoyée contre des écologistes, plus rien ne semble impossible.

Ce gouvernement d'extrême droite franchit une à une toutes les étapes vers une dictature assumée, et démantèle les contre-pouvoirs à une vitesse vertigineuse. L'accusation «d'ultra-gauche» voire de «terrorisme» s'étend désormais à la gauche modérée, et bientôt à quiconque critiquera le pouvoir en place.
