Durmstrang

The students of Durmstrang are taught the magic that fits best to our core. There are three houses. One for each core type.You are encouraged to focus on magics that your core will excel in. These subjects are your core subjects and then you can elect to study other subjects, right from your first year at the school. Of course, there are some subjects that everyone must take. These tend to be the ones that use both dark and light magic, such as Complex Charms, Blood Magic, Potions, Herbology and Healing. As well as a history course and magical theory.

Those with light cores take Light Charms, Elemental Magic, and Light Martial Magic while those with dark cores take Dark Charms, Illusionary Magic, Abjuration, and Dark Martial Magic.

Each year, you can take an elective from one of the other core types but you may only continue with it after your first year taking it, if you show an aptitude for it. It is interesting because you sometimes find that a fifth year will be studying with a class of mostly first years. It greatly changes the dynamic of the classroom environment. Over the first five years you can add up to five electives from the other cores. Often this is done by replacing an elective one doesn't enjoy with another, but more often than not, students chose to add another class to their already busy schedule. Durmstrang students are proud to learn.

Those with neutral cores are encouraged to study necromancy - although again, mostly theoretically, dendora, amrita and divination. The magics of the other deities. By the end of their seventh year, most achieve their NEWTs in their core classes and are at least working towards their OWLs or NEWTs in any electives they have chosen to continue. They are then encouraged to pick a subject of interest to continue to mastery, as we continue with our education until they have completed all their OWLs and NEWTs. It is not uncommon for a Durmstrang student to remain at the institute until they reach their twentieth year, usually achieving between thirteen and twenty OWLs and often just as many NEWTs.

Those with dark cores are given the option of studying soul magic - although in a very limited capacity. Our teachers are very particular about ensuring that we know what is okay to do and what is not. Mostly, the Soul Magic course is a history lesson to ensure those with dark cores are not ensnared by it. Although we are taught soul healing and soul marrying.

Morte tried to steady herself, her mind full by her words and her feet dangling- touching- swaying- her hands reaching and being pushed, all at once.

"You want me to tell you what is wrong with you?" Iris continued, "You told yourself you are special. You never said that out loud but that's what you truly think. An exception that proves the rule. You might be the exception, Morte, but you are not a great powerful witch. Your powers are on par with thousands of more."

Morte blinked, suddenly being able to ignore the uneasiness in her body.

"You wanted me to tell you, that you're special, that you're destined for something grand. No. Your magic is unstable but that is because your core itself is. It's a young one. And so is Hanya. You were all quick to call her my reincarnation. That is incorrect, for I am yet to go back to your world."

Morte felt her stomach turning as Iris moved closer again, now just a few inches away from her. Inches?

"The only special thing about you are the people you surround yourself with. Faray, Zikmund, and Pherenike, all have past lives of powerful magical beings. You feel it Morte."

Do I? Do I see their magic? Do I see how their it is somehow fluid, one with their body, when mine was always separate? When they use magic they become different, they-

Headcanon( at least for my fanfic): Futaba was a big fan of Lovecraftian mythology and dark magic since she was 5. Her first exposure to the dark arts was when she received a strange token with a weird looking symbol from a semi-popular street magician. Since then she’s been reading lots of horror manga and English books, spell book guide, all the sort— much to Wakaba and Sojiro’s shock and concern.

Just wanted to share a little question with you : what is magic ?

Is it an energy which is everywhere and move everything, a sort of fifth element similar to the ancient Greeks Ether ? Is it a science, a creation a bit like maths, something created with theorems and rules learned and discovered ? Is it a mutation, a bacteria ? Something that shouldn't be here but evolved to make it happened anyway ? Or is it native from somewhere and natural there ? Is it a place ? Or a thing ? Is it universal or strictly for some initiates ? Is it tangible or a metaphor ? Is it something invented, an experiment turned wrong or a natural occuring, a divine intervention ? Or a simple element from something bigger ?

Where is a Wixens magic core?

Its in the blood. As long as it flows through the body there will be magic. Hence why the blood replanishing potion exists, for if a wixen gets a blood transfusion from a muggle, they will lose their magic until their blood is donated.

Every time a wixen donates blood, one strand of their hair turns gray wich is a way for the magic to show the life said wixen gave to the one they donated their blood to.
