a beautiful place you visited that made you very happy yes, i know we all hate disney, but the day i visited disney shanghai was one of, if not the happiest days of my life, and i know this to be true because it was the ONE DAY when my twin sis & i didn't fight at all, lol. back then, there was only one Tron rollercoaster in the whole world, and it happened to be in shanghai (i think you can find this in one of the disney parks in the usa now).

4. Your favorite line/paragraph that you've written or an artwork that you're proud of i described wednesday as "persistent and pain-resistant" in the chapter 1 of i put a spell on you (aka the wyler x practical magic au), and i'm happy with that.

might regret asking this but what is the Bad Utena Post

hahah you are lucky that i recently sent it to someone so I have it located. Here It Is.

Its a post that I stumbled upon randomly and at the time it made me really mad. Eventually, probably months ago, other people found it and started dragging it in the rgu tag.

Its just someone talking about why they don't like revolutionary utena, and although they make one (1) valid criticism (Anthy and Akio being the only characters of color is bad and questionable.) (But no piece of media is perfect and pristine.) they miss entirely the point of the show or the value that people find in it. its basically "this show is bad for depicting bad stuff. I will not think about whether this is because the show is looking to criticize these things. also I understand this show better than the people who have watched it in full even though I have watched only one-third of it"

I find this post funny now, and it's not worth it to pay attention to it. there are better ways to criticize Utena for its colorism or for its questionable official art.

things i noticed/thoughts about most recent rewatches of dps (plus laserdisk deleted scenes):

whenever theres a group scene i've started watching the characters that the story isn't focusing on to see what they do and i've been having a fun time with that. pitts and cameron specifically seem to almost always be doing something interesting in the background.

hopkins!!!! my favorite minor character who somehow got character development despite having like 2 lines!!!! the last guy to stand on the desk but he did it!!!

sometimes i do like to think about what the rest of the students thought about the dead poets society, esp in alternate timeline neil lives dps keeps meeting universe. like yeah theres this guy in their class whose one of the most credited students in the school and we think he maybe started a cult. idk though. but that group runs out into the woods every few days to do god knows what and one of them keeps talking about "dead poets honor" whatever that means and holy shit welton star student neil perry started a cult.

i watched the movie with headphones. and maybe it's because ive seen this movie Far too many times and mabe i'm listening too hard but it was Really obvious sometimes when audio was added in post production. llke in the sweaty toothed madman scene when you can hear laughing and to be fair the camera is behind their heads. but it does Not look like anyone's laughing. my favorite is at the end of the phone call to chris scene where knox is like i'm gonna seize the day!! and runs up the stairs and the poets are cheering him on and neil is sort of yelling "carpe!!!!" and i could be wrong but i'm like 75% certain that the person singing is Also rsl so now neil is just speaking two times at once somehow. anyways it didn't ruin the experience for me or anything it was maybe just a little bit funny to notice but very sorry if this did ruin anyone's viewing.

people talk a lot about how rsl and ethan hawke really made their characters what they are but i have to add dylan kussman to that list. I get the impression that older versions of the movie didn't really give as much depth to cameron and watching dylan kussmans performance is like. he Knew who his character was so fucking well and it shows!! like the deleted scene of them getting clubs assigned. like i could tell So Much about cameron from that scene

for how little she actually appeared, there is an emphasis put on the fact that neil's mom smokes pretty frequently. and i think that's interesting considering neil is one of two poets shown actively smoking. neil's mom doesn't appear for very long in the movie but during that time it definitely seems like the movie is intentionally making parallels between the two, particularly in the last argument with neil's father. neil and his mother are both sitting for almost the whole time, which contrasts with his father who is standing. they are both almost powerless in this scene. they stand up at almost the same time. anyways there's a couple different possibilities for what this could mean? that i've though of? 1. to show that neil's mother is in a similar situation to the one neil is in in regards to neil's father and 2. maybe a stretch here but the theory that neil inherited his mental illness at least partially from his mother. i'm pretty sure 1 was fully intentional on the directors part, not entirely sure about 2 though

unmanned flying desket scene: it's probably cause he and ethan wrote the scene themselves but the way rsl talks in this scene feels more like the way he talks in general than the rest of the script. like briefly neil perry is talking in rsl's voice. one of my absolute favorite scenes though the sarcastic dialogue is so good.

I’ve discovered that it’s a roughly four day ride from Castle Town to Hateno Village. If Link were to ever ride home before the Calamity, he’d probably start from the castle and take a day’s ride to Mabe Village close to the Ranch. Another day’s ride to get to Gatepost Town, though he’d probably stay at the East Post since he’s a knight. From there he’d make it to the Dueling Peaks Stable, and the next day set out to Hateno.

Oh, I've got an idea, what this (behaviour that would convince Gavin that androids are self-aware and not just copying humans) could be.

If Gavin could accidentally make an android hate him as much as he hates them. To the point where this android would act hostile towards Gavin in a way that no human could.

Like messing with him by making their phone/computer completely unusable by for example sending them 1000 messages per minute just so the screen would be locked with countless notifications. And you know, mabe those messages aren't even just random symbols but actual sentences that are just a long fucking list of reasons why he (Gavin) sucks, maybe even with some facts about his online persona that could be found online or maybe was hacked specifically – he couldn't tell which one it is. Basically Gavin getting cyberbullied by an android would work wonders on his perception of "it's just copying human"

Then, getting mocked in his own voice in a exaggerated manner – will make him self-consciously wonder if his voice really sounds like this or is it somehow adjusted to be worse.

Later he'd try to watch some video, but all the voices are replaced with his own exaggerated one. Shit will drive him crazy.

"Don't you have better things to do with those fancy processors of yours?"

"Oh, thank you for your concern! I assure you it's only taking a small percentage of my computing power and it's my pleasure if it's enough to make you this worked up about it. It's cute to see you getting pink in face. Adorable."

Then this android predicting some of the things Gavin was about to say before he manages to finish his sentence on his own and saying it before (at the same time) with him, just to demonstrate how predictable he is "Who is following their programming here? At least my program is not as predictable as yours"

Or in front of mirror

"Oh, you recognise yourself in the mirror! That means you're at least smarter than a pig, not bad!"

To the point when this android is asking Gavin to prove him that he is as conscious as he claims.

Just making fun of his animalism spilling facts about human psychology and physiology, including some based entirely on his own observations of Gavin.

Basically just feed him his own medicine with inhumanly precise statistical touch of an android.

Of course there are probably other ways that are not this malicious, in this post I just wanted to explore how Gavin could get cyberbullied, lol

Joyce's Revenant tore my heart out with the power of love: death and rot won't prevent Mulder's protective streak from saving Scully.

Mulder's desperation to get to his son's C-section birth in the beginning of Alcott's Exit tore at my heartstrings (all ends happily-- twice, in fact.)

And lots (and lots) of clone fics... because they either A. never end well or B. are about common humanity despite circumstances. However, as misty-eyed as some get me, The Other Man GOT me:

Jess Mabe's The Other Man (Gossamer, WBM)-- Mulder's blood work comes back a clone. The real Mulder had been imprisoned on a military base. He and Scully are only in time enough to save a barely stable man and give him a human death.

XSketch's Soledad Para Dos gave me many emotions (Will is readopted; but Scully dies soon after of cancer. Mulder clings to his son; but this birthday is the first by himself. It's touching.) Not to mention Wish, William-- Will tracks down his bio parents after Colonization, finding Scully caring for a brain-damaged Mulder by the beach. Father and son have meaningful conversations.

There are two fics I can't find right now (if anyone can remind me so I don't have to dumpster dive all night, that'd be great~):

Scully died while giving birth to her S8 son; and Skinner finds and brings Mulder back home, watching him as he grieves the loss, picks up the pieces, and becomes a well-adjusted father to his boy.

Mulder wasn't returned in TINH; and Scully remained immortal while her son aged and died. Her partner is returned after Will's death; and the two of them relive their son's life, marked everywhere by his search for his missing father. (Found it! Part 1: Gossamer | Story: "Age Cannot Wither" by ML 2: Gossamer | Story: "Nor Custom Stale" by ML)

...Ehhhhhhhhhhh, why not-- I'll throw in one that made me blubber in a good way: Jenna Tooms's Shooting Star is about Mulder being found 17 years later by TLG: holed up in a mental institution and guardianed by a surprisingly caring Krycek. Scully "his angel" swoops in and saves him, battling for her partner to bring him home to their son Ben/"Benji" despite his cognitive impairments. It's so, so, SO beautiful that I just reread all of it (again) rather recently and I'M NOT ASHAMED IT MADE MY LIPS QUIVER, OKAY. Clones are also in this story, as are second babies (one) and risky nanobyte procedures that Mulder "ditches" to try to get "himself" back. (Gossamer links: Shooting Star (1/4), Shooting Star (2/4), Shooting Star (3/4), Shooting Star (4/4).) She writes "cognitively impaired" Mulder SOOOOOOOOO well-- his "speech" is real and beautiful and flawlessly written. I'm not a thorough reader and I don't care to be-- but this fic? I eat up EVERY. WORD. WITH A DOZEN SPOONS.

What do I expect of this year? What do I want to write?

For starters, I decided to give up on two WIPs that I will likely not write, at least not soon. The Ribbon was supposed to be a companion piece to Ananke (both could be around 40k stories, so together they'd make the length of a whole novel), but since Ananke has been shortened, The Ribbon is not necessary. And on its own it doesn't have enough pull for me to finish it.

Untitled Sentira project is... well, the name itself is enough to tell you my feelings about it. I still think the worldbuilding for this story, or rather the one that existed before, is spectacular. I'm not giving up on the Sentira world, but maybe I'll do something completely different with it? The novel idea, the characters I tried to design for it, the plot -- they just didn't really click, so. This particular story will not happen, at least not in the form of a novel.

Hmm... I should update my pinned post... Later.

Now, what will I write?

I'm changing the ending of Ananke. The second half, ten chapters, require a lot of changes and I want to do it, like, now. First half of January, then mabe final re-read right away, or maybe some pro editor? IDEK. Or a re-read in February. And then I want to send it to three sci-fi magazines and see if they bite.

I started to edit The Specters, but now that I'm back at work I don't think I'll be able to work on two things simultanously, so I'm putting it on the backburner until I'm done with Ananke, and then I'll probably continue second draft until the end of February.

I've been having feels about Crystal Spring Valley lately -- it means I miss Priya and Tenney and the gang. I might take March and April to look at this story and maybe get through that Turning Point finally. I don't hope to finish it, but, as usual, make as much progress as I can.

May could be a good moment to work on the spreadsheet and maybe even pre-draft of The Duke and the B Brothers -- so that I could tackle the first draft during NaNoWriMo. Ha! Yes.

Then I should return to Black Wings and its second draft for June and July (or perhaps even longer), and that would more-or-less conclude my current WIPs.

August, September and October would remain "to be decided". I also have Mars Idea in very early stages of development, so I might give it a month here or there. And then do some more work on either on the most advanced WIPs, meaning Crystal Spring, Specters or Black Wings.

November would be the first draft of The Duke, of course, and then December... Maybe rest after NaNo, lol, or finish The Duke, because 50k will likely not be enough.

So that's that. That's the plan. :)

Anon from earlier here. Thank you for answering my previous question. Do you have any advice on how to find some time to draw tho? I struggle with a lot of work and adhd and it ends in me drawing only one piece every two months and I don't know what to do. Sorry for bothering you.

hi again anon! and its no problem really i like answering asks

i usually doodle almost every free minute that i have and somehow build up a habit like that, drawing every day even if its just a little. i think what helped me is getting to like drawing certain things, be it characters, poses or certain body parts. what drives me is the fun in it that often pushes through my inability to execute any other action...

i know it wont work the same for everyone and building up habits is difficult but you can try making more smaller pieces that you may not even finish. maybe even dont plan on finishing them so they dont feel like a chore. they should only be for relaxing or warming up your hand. (you can attempt full pieces at other times when you do have enough time)

again im in no position to tell you whats right or wrong and there really is no such thing but you can try different things like that! find a scrap paper and a cheap pen while on a break and doodle, draw lines or figures, whatever you currently think of. personally i think when it comes to drawing what should matter most is having fun, no matter if you finish a lot or start many wips and never finish them.

eventually you can try upgrading your little doodles and attempt bigger things, just as long as it doesnt feel too forced since i know doing things youre forced to can be extremely difficult compared to other things. seeing drawing or mindlessly doodling as something relaxing could even feel good in-between work hours.

on another note, almost none of the art that i post is actually finished. i post many doodles and if i do color then either simple grey or a bit of flat colors. (you definitely do not have to post everything you draw but i post like 95% of what i draw, so mabe that is why it seems much all in all)

Anyways I have this one headcanon of Joseph that I haven't noticeanyone else bring up.

Joseph having physical scars.

Now if this is too serious then you can skip this!

But back to it, Joseph ran away while in high school, he carried a knife and all that, now he's big and strong, there's no way he hasn't gotten into anything physical before. Making me think he has actual scars from said hardships, maybe even some from his home life before he left?

I just this the man would have physical and visible scars, mabe he kinda hides them or something? But ya, that's my personal headcanon...

Don't worry about scars being too serious of a topic. I've dipped my toes into this sort of headcanon before. My MC Alice has one as well, with her Mafia AU counterpart having several.

While we haven't seen any scarring on Jack's naked body even on the teasers posted on the SnaccPop Studios Patreon, that doesn't necessarily mean that Joseph didn't have any scarring. After all, we don't see his tattoos when he's Jack, and he certainly had them as Joseph.

Aside from old sprites shown in the beta version of the demo, the only times we have seen Joseph out of makeup are in this tinted photo, and in teasers where he's dead and probably rotting. While the sprites from the beta show no signs of scarring, the game is still in development and we haven't seen what Joseph's new sprite looks like unclothed.

Obviously we see damage to his body where he's a ghost(?), but we see those same exposed parts in the photo of him out of makeup without any such damage. That isn't to say that there aren't any scars that he's able to hide underneath his clothes.

Now, the fact that Joseph carried a knife around with him does hint that he was prepared to fight, if nothing else. In a picture that Sauce drew and posted publicly on their old twitter, a (presumably) teenage Joseph was shown covered in scrapes and bandages.

While this is technically not canon unless it appears on the Sunny Day Jack twitter, tumblr, or another official game page it would make sense given we have hints that he was a troublemaker.

Now... when it comes to Joseph's home life, the only solid hint we have is what the psyche consultant assessed about him. Assuming the consultant was correct, his parents might have said they loved him, but didn't mean it, even early in his life. I suspect that he was neglected, ignored and forgotten, which was why I think he acted up and turned into a punk. Even bad attention is still attention, you know?

That isn't to say that there couldn't have been some abuse going on in his house when he was growing up. It's entirely possible that he learned bad habits from his parents/guardians, which included lashing out at others weaker than them.

Then there was the period of time when Joseph was homeless. The sad truth is that people who have to live life on the streets are constantly in danger. Even if he escaped his hometown unscarred, that doesn't mean he couldn't have been scarred literally and metaphorically while he was struggling to survive on his own.

As for my own personal headcanon on the subject, I can't say that I have any strong inclination either way.

Typically when I add scars to a character, I like to attach a significant moment or change in their life that has affected them permanently. For example, Alice got her scar when Ian cheated on her, and in the Mafia AU her scars were from when she was trafficked.

If I were to give Joseph a scar in any of my writing/headcanons, it would be because I thought of an interesting incident to go with it that I wanted to write and/or mention.

As it is, I'm more inclined not to give Joseph scars, at least none significant enough to make mention of. From a narrative stance, the tattoos serve as scars, which, well, tattoos kind of are already. They are permanent markings made to his skin with a needle. They're scars that say a lot about him, ones he chose to have and regrets now.

Then of course there's the damage his body has taken due to his death, which is reflected in his putrefaction and blood. This state of decay draws far more attention than any scar would, and is a direct reflection of the trauma he faced from his death. So in this case, the zombie-like state would be another type of scarring Joseph suffers from.

These are pretty significant parts of his character. As a writer, I'm concerned that adding more scars might muddle the significance of how the tattoos and the rotting damage/alter his body and affect his mental state.

That isn't to discourage anyone from headcanoning Joseph with scars that he hides under his clothes. Hell, I might come up with an idea later on down the line that enamors me. At the moment though, I would rather keep focus on the mistakes of Joseph's past and his death that have left such a deep scar on him that he chooses to be someone else entirely in the present.
