i wanna talk about the gut-wrenching fight between wilbur and phil in the maze today

as a fan of both of them

so during wilbur’s absence i have mainly stuck to phil’s pov but before that i only watched will, this is to establish where i’m coming from.

wilbur was fucked up for telling phil that he must not care about the eggs. phil was wrong for not thinking that wilbur would want further explanations.

and wilbur would have likely reacted much less rudely had he been told more than “the eggs are missing, no we don’t know where they are, we only have clues, yeah they’ve been missing a month, this maze is meant to help. maybe.” like he was not told how the maze would help, what any of it meant, what clues they had, how people were searching, none of it.

obviously we know they didn’t have time to explain any of it. there was no time to explain everything and phil was already stressed. phil gets stressed just being in the maze, he’s constantly stressed about the eggs in general, and wilbur was just not following along to the point that he needed to be lassoed. so no of course phil couldn’t explain everything.

the problem also came in that wilbur wasn’t even explained as to why they were going into the maze in the first place. he had no idea what was going on or why it was happening. so on top of that you bring him into a maze where he was already asking to leave prior to the fight because he was that uncomfortable in it. THEN you tell him his daughter is missing along with all her siblings and everyone is just in a maze?? of course he thought no one was doing anything, NO ONE TOLD HIM THEY WERE! IN FACT NO ONE EVER EVEN MENTIONED THE EGGS UP UNTIL THAT MOMENT (to wilbur).

both of their feelings were perfectly valid given their povs. not saying i agreed with q!wilbur but that his reaction made sense given the circumstances. of course what he said was rude and awful especially because he said it to PHIL. phil who has suffered in his search for the eggs. who has done everything he possibly could for the eggs. but wilbur didn’t know that and no one told him.

but i also want to talk about how they immediately apologize and forgive each other upon taking time away and doing what each set out to do. phil went through with the spy mission and wilbur conducted his own investigation. but when the spy mission was over, and the investigation came up empty, phil went to will. and he apologized for yelling and wilbur apologized for what he said. and then they stuck together, phil explained some of what they knew, and will made an effort that he hopes will work. even if phil doesn’t fully believe in it, he still let wilbur do it.

because at the end of the day, they care about each other so much and are both grieving. one has just had more time than the other.

Sometimes I think about how we say that season two was the byler season…. But really. Hasn’t every season been the byler season? Because season one is Mike needing to find Will. And season two is Mike trying to protect Will. And season three is just Mike and Will’s relationship strained because Mike’s trying to be straight (and failing so hard). And season four? Season four? Over half of the plot line Mike and Will were a part of was just developing their relationship and what it’s like to be gay in the 80s.

And that’s not even mentioning “I’m the only one who cares about Will” and the spy scene, and the rain fight, and whatever the fuck even happened in season four. One does not simply have three heart to hearts between to characters in one season without facing the consequences in season 5. And then there’s like a million other things that have to do with Mike and Will that I haven’t mentioned. I fucking forgot crazy together, that’s how much there is to contemplate. With my wizard orb.

Can’t wait for season five to bring us home, and make the byler season, the byler series lol

its insane how my small town of <10,000 is more diverse than the majority of hollywood productions that are set in major cities

#im exaggerating obvs its not like i ran the stats or whatever #but in SO many movies and tv shows #even if there's people of color they're all skinny and abled #like growing up i've known and seen so many fat people. people with cleft lips. people with prosthetic limbs #people with burns. people in wheelchairs. people of all faiths and speaking all languages #like i could go on #and ive been to <15 cities and towns in my life and maybe two of them had populations over 1 million (boston and nyc)#i am not making a bad joke when i say that i see more disabled people in the outlet mall on a wednesday #than ive ever seen on tv or film #like that's legitimately fucked!#such large parts of the earth's population are just left out of media entirely #when they're such large parts of our lives and our world but they're just ignored #its just insane when you think about it #mickey.txt #(like obviously structural change and aid is ultimately more important than representation #but its still messed up how many people are left out of even the background or crowd shots #its really gross to put it mildly)

rewatching all the xmen because i wanna watch Logan and i haven’t done a rewatch in so long

just finished dark phoenix, yea.... and I honestly can’t with the Mystique of it all.

like they make them say ‘you really outta rethink the name xmen charles cause the women are really doing a lot of the work around here’

and the writers are probably all *pats on each others backs, pats on their back, hurrah hurrah we did it for you women*

then one act, MAYBE, two acts later Mystique fucking dies.

I never stayed up on the casting and like probably jlaw wanted out or something but like ya’ll literally gave her the line early in the movie that she wanted to just live her life and you could have just said she went and did that and left the xmen but you choose to kill her.........

My life consists of consumption of media from videogames to movies to comics to series etc. thus I like countless characters from the worst of the worst (abusers, rapists, assassins, killers, cannibals, racists, genocides, you name it) to goodie goods.
