Brian David Gilbert on Sad Boyz
feels fandom relevant.
[ID: A series of screen captures of Brian David Gilbert speaking on a podcast: "The thing that you invest your time in can feel so important to your identity that occasionally you feel, like, you need to close it off from other people in order to keep it safe. And I think that's where a lot of nerd culture, all that gatekeeping stuff, all of the toxicity stems from that thing where it's like, "In high school I didn't have a lot of friends or connect with a lot of people, but I did have this comic book, and now this comic book is super popular, but these people don't like me. That must be because they're not real fans."" End ID]

ok so! uh! normally this is the moment where id go "i have a normal amount of feelings about this movie [through tears]" but that actually isnt the case this time. guess i just didnt like it as much as all the other movies in the franchise
#there were a lot of things i didnt like#for example there were a handful of plot holes to me most notably the fact that scotty was on the enterprise b when kirk 'died'#because. if that was 73 years before the movie takes place‚ and THAT was roughly 2-3 years after the tng episode relics took place#then after being freed from the transporter pattern buffer after being in there for 80 YEARS#he would have KNOWN kirk was dead#but in the episode he says 'i bet jim kirk himself hauled the old gal out of mothballs to come looking for me'#thats usually not how you talk about someone who has (to you) been dead for 7 years.#now of course that kind of timeline fluke isnt the end of the world but. well........ i guess i kinda expected better?#i sound sooooo fuckin mean and nitpicky here but trust me thats not the only reason i was disappointed#i was also upset that they essentially made data a comic relief character throughout the majority of the movie?#he had like 3 actual emotional moments and the rest was just silly goofs. he doesnt deserve to be treated like that#(although his life form song was sick. i will admit)#and soran as a character was just kinda...... disappointing. he was a cheesy villain with a pretty iffy motive#not to mention they COMPLETELY missed the chance to give us the opportunity to explore guinan more. she DEFINITELY deserved more screentime#all she was in this movie was. well? just a support character who offered a little advice and explanation and then left#that upset me a bit too bc i love guinan soooo much#i guess overall it didnt. have like. a distinct feel to it. it kinda just felt like a long tng episode with a higher budget#(but evidently not that much to show for it)#the other star trek movies were so very obviously their own THING‚ separated from the original series#though i think that may have had a little to do with the movies taking place a while AFTER tos ended#whereas this movie took place like. really pretty shortly after the end of tng#that said i wanna make it clear i liked the movie. it just doesnt really hold much of a candle to the first 6#also what kinda gayass last words are 'oh‚ my' like htrghoieruhgoug ok gayboy#ANYWAY!!!!! thats my thoughts on star trek generations i guess. it wasnt as good as id hoped but still good for the most part#i only cried like. once. and that wasnt even actual crying it was just tearing up a little bit -_-#and i didnt have to take that many hyperfixation stim breaks either....#well either way im glad to have finished it! now i can go back to rewatching tos ^___^#also reading first best destiny YAYYY#can u believe its only 4am. i finished this movie like. super quickly compared to the other ones LAWL

Suddenly wanted to go look for my cringey comic I've made way back in 2010 when I was in my weeb phase so I went onto smackjeeves, hoping to find it, only to find out that apparently I'm a few years late learning that smackjeeves SHUT DOWN on December 2020........ That. Really sucks. A lot. What the fuck 😭😭😭
#txt#Luckily I managed to come across a reddit post that had an absolute mad man that preserved almost 80% of EVERYONE's comic onto#internet archive. I checked to see if my cringe comic made it and it did. IMFAOOO#I reread it and im fucking cackling. lord#Though aside from that Ive been reminiscing about the days when I used to use this website back when I was in like 3rd-5th grade.#I mostly read lots of shoujo mangas on there.#I remembered some of my absolute favorite comics being “123 step!” by AshlingDraws. There was also this comic that never got finished#but it had 9 year old me on a CHOKEHOLD. “And your name is...?” by haku10 / akumatenshi19. literally one of my favs aaaaaaaa#I also remembered when rosuuri (who also used to go by tsugumi09 / tsugumi09x) USED to made comics too. I still remembered she made 3 comic#One of them was titled acquaintance. I still remembered it being set in a highschool setting I believed. slice of life. there was bullying.#and romance. I think she finished it but it later deleted it. I also remembered another comic she made but i forgot the title but#it was about highschool students and angels I believe...(?) then there was her comic about Pinku and alice in wonderland. aaaaaaaa#Rosuuri ended up deleting all of her comics and left smackjeeves like somewhere in like 2016. Idk but she left somewhere during those years#then there was m syndrome written and drawn by nemurou. who also later sadly deactivated everywhere. literally one of my first favorite#artists and inspiration. Nemurou come backkkk. I miss her art a lot ;;;;;__;;#Those were mostly almost all of the comics I remembered from my smackjeeves days they ALL had me on a chokehold on 9-11 year old me#YOU HAVE TO IDEA#And if it werent for me being babysitted by my ex crush and his older sisters which the eldest one who used to draw anime and posted#onto her webcomic being titled love letter onto smackjeeves I would have never have this childhood experience. I prob wouldnt be where i am#with my art today either.#But yeah smackjeeves was a part of my childhood at some point. it truly is tragic theyre not here anymore. I am grateful to the person from#reddit that archived almost 80% of it though. But man. Truly an end of an era. Rip

the thing is that i genuinely think the idea of batburger in current continuity is kind of dumb (jokerize the fries, rolling my eyes) partially because it's clear it's a concept so you can have 5 panels go viral for humor partially because the way everyone's fast and loose with secret id's in the field they may as well have a bruce wayne burger on the menu-
but there's a part of me that thinks that the concept of batburger (sans jokerize the fries, because again. rolling my eyes) would have been absolutely hilarious and on-brand for 90s comics during the urban myth era.
because fast food today is nothing compared to the branding and advertising of fast food era of the 80s and 90s. like when mcd's got swarmed for the teenie beanies by collectors causing fights and injuries over kids meal toys??? you could never see that kind of passion today.
imagine. you are a local businessman in gotham. you are trying to think of a fast food restaurant to market to 10 year olds. you hear of a local urban legend that all the kids are talking about, the batman, and you've decided you've struck gold. you get to work. batburger. you make mascots a la ronald mcdonald and the crew, but you don't have any idea what the batman actually looks like so you just make it up based on what would appeal to kids and make them want to eat your food. i imagine your batman has vampire teeth or is literally a man dressed in a bat costume. your robin is a man dressed up as a literal robin. you make a tv show about them where the crimes they solve are the mystery of the missing fries. you have commercials. there is no copyright on batman as a concept. bruce wayne is powerless to stop you. when you do a special limited edition superhero toy series in your robin meals, collectors come and start a riot. batman comes to break it up.

Okay this misconception keeps coming across my dash and it drives me nuts because it means people are lumping two very different versions of the DC universe under one disparaging banner. So let me just say this to get it off my chest because I'm this close to shaking somebody:
The New 52 ended seven years ago in 2016.
That started a section of DC's history called "Rebirth" in which they started bringing elements of the pre-Flashpoint continuity back into the timeline. The first changes came in a big burst called Convergence -- which is how Jon Kent effectively manifested fully formed at 10 years old -- while other reintroductions like Kon-El, Bart Allen, Cass Cain, etc. were more gradual.
The original plan, being forced through by King of Bad Decisions Dan Didio, was that after ~4-5 Rebirth would give way to another full reboot known as 5G. I could go into detail about the plans but they're honestly not important to this post because Didio was (thankfully, finally) ousted from his role as publisher early in 2020, along with something like 80% of the higher-level editorial staff. DC had a complete creative turn-over at the start of the pandemic and completely changed directions as a result. The material being developed for 5G was retooled into the hypothetical future event "Future State" to buy the new staff time to pull together their new direction.
That new direction is called INFINITE FRONTIER. It started in 2021 and THAT is the era of DC comics we're in now. Infinite Frontier is an active push to bring back the pre-Flashpoint characters, as well as some pre-Crisis ideas and characters, while also keeping the few elements of the New 52 that people actually liked (like Jason Todd's more heroic characterization) and actively pursuing diversity initiatives both in creative staff and in creations. And outside of the big events, they're making a real effort to keep these comics short and self contained in the hopes that that'll make them more accessible. So it's actually really easy, if you read comics pre-Flashpoint and dropped off, to just pick up a series and go with the flow. Anything confusing is just a Google away.
Please, please don't make the mistake of thinking modern comics are as bad as the New 52 just because some people are butthurt their ship isn't getting canonized. There have been some really good comics made in the last few years that you should totally try! Spirit World, Monkey Prince and the entire We Are Legends line has been genuinely fantastic. The new Birds of Prey is shaping up to be a ton of fun. Dark Knights of Steel is an entertaining Elseworld. Urban Legends and Brave & the Bold have done some really fun things with shorter anthology books. One Minute War was a really fun Flash family event and everything Stargirl's done recently is liable to make you cry.
I'm begging people to give these comics a chance. It's just really sad to see them being dismissed out of hand.

Tintin through time!
Thought it would be fun to have my various designs for Tintin in one post. The canon comics have a floating timeline and Tintin never ages. I think rooting him in a specific time and context makes him feel a little more real (also I am a sucker for historical fiction). Click below for a potted timeline and notes about each design!
Left to right, top to bottom:
Child - in my timeline Tintin was born in 1915, a year into the First World War. He was probably picked on a lot by his peers for being small, ginger and slightly effeminate, and was picked on by adults for being “difficult” and asking too many questions.
Early canon - He leaves school early and becomes a reporter at 14. He’s unhinged, he’s blasé, he dresses like Spongebob. Coming right out of Catholic school he has a lot of unhealthy beliefs he needs to confront and unlearn. I imagine his editor is a pretty shady person as they are willing to send this kid off to dangerous places. His naivety prevents him from spotting any red flags at first.
Late canon - Tintin as we know him! His journalism career is at its peak at the tender age of 17. He’s found a family and stability at Marlinspike. His politics are evolving. He is, however, pretty neglectful of his own personal life, almost fully focusing on his career. He’s starting to grow wary of his editor and they frequently argue, Tintin often winning out as he knows it’s his articles that sell papers.
Young adult - With the Second World War breaking out this is an unstable time in his life. He’s come to terms with being gay but is fired from his paper after being forcibly outed. Tintin and the Marlinspike team take fighting fascism into their own hands.
For his design here he wears a turtleneck like Captain Haddock, glasses like Professor Calculus (also representing a renewed perspective on things) and his hair is more relaxed like Chang’s! The idea was to show how he has been impacted by the people he cares about.
After the war ends he struggles with unemployment and burnout, insecure that he might have peaked as a teenager.
Middle aged - It’s the late 50s - early 60s, Tintin is jaded and cynical but still kind and willing to help others. He is absolutely horrified by the events of WW2 and carries an enormous sense of guilt, feeling he didn’t do enough. His faith in journalism has also been thoroughly shaken, witnessing the spectacular failing of the system himself, and realising there are people who genuinely do not care for the truth, and are only concerned with power.
Elderly - if he somehow makes it to old age he’d be a chaotic little old man who doesn’t give a Single Shit. It’s the late 80s and early 90s, at this point he has retired from journalism and has published his own books, and has taken to becoming a full time political activist (here he’s wearing an AIDS awareness ribbon from 1991, in the 70s Herge had Tintin wear a helmet displaying a symbol for nuclear disarmament). Kids adore him, cops hate him!
He has taken to technology, being an early adopter of the Internet and desktop computers. He and Chang have since been able to reunite with Chang’s family and they often spend time with Didi’s grandkids!
I don’t know what would kill him. Old age? A car bomb? Maybe he falls over badly and bangs his head one last time. I don’t think it’s my place to decide.

* ˚ ✦Capricorn observation* ˚ ✦
Tumblr media
• Like any earth sign they like a timeless look or something fitting to their environment (messy environment messy look, clean environment clean look, picking up what I’m putting down?)
It also kind applies to when they’re looking for love interests.
• Very “old school” probably has a collection of some kind, maybe along the lines of retro memorabilia or collections of antiques (that they only think looks good) or they’re place looks bare because they could never spend money on “that pointless crap”
(I’ve almost met a lot of Capricorn placements who collects comic books.)
• They could never spend large amounts of money unless it’s apart of their “whole master plan” aka they will do anything to get ahead in their job or career even if it means hurting your feelings or taking your position!
That’s earths sign kinda of competitiveness.
• I personally feel like thrifting was invented by a Capricorn or the Russian mail order bride service, both ends mean business for one common thing, not love…. But money.
In some cases it means love.
• Capricorn in love is like a strong tree trunk if you appreciate it enough and have enough patience.
Can you stay all 4 seasons?
• Can you handle a Capricorn’s depression or seasonal depression because they rather get the bag than celebrate holidays including if they live far away from family.
•Free time for Capricorn means learning/ planning how to get more money when they DO have free time (which is never, they’re always busy) or tinkering around trying to make something (crafty) or fixing something that needed to be fixed 6 months ago.
They procrastinate a bit here and there.
• Just like a cancer they like they’re space and personal space but not carrying they’re home on they’re back like cancer, that’s what they lack and leads them to depression, dating a cancer can help them gain that nostalgia back for them but won’t solve there depression! (Don’t use water signs as emotional body bags.
• They do love the used, daddy issues, mommy issues people, because earlier on their life or childhood they had to grow up fast and never really shown love or proper love towards them. So they do the same.
Whata cycle Capricorn!
• They mentally think like a teenager but have a body like a 80 year old. Having back pains in highschool? And problems with they’re knees?
• Do you have crooked teeth? Deep voice? Sometimes raspy? Small face features but a long nasal cavity? Did you ever have those gold/silver caps in your teeth while growing up?
• The males are into older women, and women are into younger guys.
• Shy when it comes to love but very confident when it comes to money.
• Once when you have everything why do you feel like you gotta keep searching?
•How does it feel to chase something you don’t even know what your chasing?

Does anyone else feel like... something new is brewing for GF?
Sorry I've been posting a lot out of the blue after months of inactivity, but, you all get it... the GF fixation train comes and goes.
Anyways, I'm getting some spidey senses going on about GF lately. There's The Book of Bill coming out, Alex Hirsch doing an interview with ThatGFFan and Fordtato/Hana Hyperfixates (you folks are awesome btw), Alex himself has been super, super quiet for a while as far as I know...
I especially am a bit curious about why The Book of Bill is being released so many damn years after the show was released. There's no big anniversary coming up (the 10 year passed in 2022), the show is - let's just admit it so I can feel like the old ass lady I am - old itself, and usually stuff like this gets greenlit around other materials for promo reasons.
My point is, is usually something like The Book of Bill, you'd expect to have been released long ago to capitalize on the show's success post-finale, like how Journal 3 and Lost Legends were published. But... all of the sudden 10+ years down the line, we're seeing stuff like the soundtrack vinyl, the Bill purse, and I believe there were Ford and Stan plushies iirc, and now The Book of Bill being released.
And there are details about these two things that are... weird. The soundtrack had a full version of "We'll Meet Again" with all the characters voiced by Alex Hirsch (e.g Bill, Stan, Soos, McGucket, etc). Very strange thing to be added to the record, hm... and The Book of Bill is set to be more adult in flavor.
I'll just bluntly state it: I think they're testing the waters for more Gravity Falls with a more adult audience, capitalizing on old as dust fans like me who were active when the series aired, plus newer fans given Gravity Falls' seemingly evergreen appeal. Like I'm about... 80% certain on this. I'm not saying this to clickbait anyone but it really feels like something new is on the horizon. I'm not saying it's a new show, maybe comics or some sort of prequel or continuation in another medium, but my spidey senses are tingling, like I said.
Does anyone else feel the same, or am I just... too hopeful?

OOZEPUNK

WHAT IS OOZEPUNK?
Oozepunk is the term I'm coining for the microgenre of urban heroic sci-fi horror-fantasy that first exploded in the mid-80s with movies, shows, and comics like Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Toxic Avenger, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Hellboy, Street Sharks, and others. Lots of natural crossover with Biopunk and Cyberpunk, aesthetically and philosophically.
Tumblr media
Your childhood trauma didn't let you forget Roger Rabbit heavily featured colorful nightmare slime, did it?
A ragtag gang of weirdos (often horribly mutated--more on that soon) band together to save a city that doesn't understand them. Grimy sewers, abandoned buildings and graffiti'd brick walls are lit up by neon lights, streams of mysterious, glowing goo and/or the unearthly lights of futuristic particle weapons--ideally all of the above!
Tumblr media
Beyond the "cracked concrete and gutters full of liquid plutonium" aesthetic, Oozepunk prankishly asks "What if catastrophic aberrations of science, particularly DUMPING TOXIC FUCKING WASTE STRAIGHT INTO THE ENVIRONMENT created fucked-up monsters... but they're HEROIC fucked-up monsters!" These catastrophic aberrations of science grant the heroes incredible powers, but COST them their place in human society. (Ghostbusters and Roger Rabbit eschew character mutation in favor of discovering that the undead and olde tymey cartoons are real [and exploitable!], respectively. 'Busters and 'Toon sympathizers alike are treated like insane idiots and/or frauds in their respective universes.)
Oozepunk heroes are challenged not only by strange supernatural beings, but by human society itself. The Ghostbusters battle with local politicians as much as they do the undead. In the recent (and delightful) TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, Splinter warns the Turtles of humans and their obsession with "milking" mutants for their blood--on top of the villainous mutants they're trying to thwart!
Tumblr media
Crank up the creep factor in Oozepunk and you get awesome anti-establishment goo-horror like 1988's The Blob, The Stuff, Street Trash, and probably a bunch more. Toxic Avenger is a batshit crazy splatter-comedy (i.e. classic Troma)... and still garnered sequels, a kid's cartoon and toyline!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there's a Shredder's Revenge-style Crusaders beat-em-up coming out next year??
youtube
This looks dope as shit
Ghostbusters and TMNT are the only current, "evergreen" (or radioactive green!) Oozepunk franchises I can think of off the top of my head, but Oozepunk elements are buried in almost all of the stories and settings I love the most. Heroic kaiju like King Kong, Godzilla and Gamera paved the way for our freaky friends, but so did comics characters like Fantastic Four's Ben "The Thing" Grimm, The Hulk and Swamp Thing. Hell, I think I blame SESAME STREET of all things for starting me down the Oozepunk path.
Tumblr media
Surprise! I've loved screaming trash monsters with secret hearts of gold since I was a fucking baby, and they've ALWAYS been there for me!
But it's not just Oscar, Sesame Street as a whole is a proto-Oozepunk utopia, years before the big Ooze-splosion of the 80s. Muppets, monsters, talking animals and chill humans all live and work together to scrape by with a little dignity in a gritty-but-wholesome urban world!
Tumblr media
Sesame Street, a decades-long reminder that educational childrens' programming can and SHOULD be cool as hell looking and loaded with all kinds of friendly mutant freakuloids.
OOZEPUNK! Whaddya think?

As someone else who's in the process of burning out just surviving, and has lost sight of why I enjoyed art in the first place, would you be willing to share some of the things you've tried to get back on your feet? Super glad that you're doing so much better, btw.
First: It's actually become a job for me to help artists reconnect to their art through my mentorship workshop with everything I have learned, and I consider myself very good at it. I've been doing it for about 4 years now. If you or any other artist would like direct help with recovering from burn out please check out the service page of my website and testimonials from previous clients.
To answer your question:
A lot of my own personal stabilization just came as a result of wanting the experience of making art to be comfortable. It wasn't a choice anymore. After my father passed I relaxed for about 3 months -- longest I went without drawing in my life since I started freelancing -- and when I sat back at my desk I just couldn't make myself work under the same pressure. I'd try to force myself to draw and it made me want to cry instead. I quickly learned I could only create if I felt comfortable and drawing felt gentle, so I had to accept moving forward if I wanted to continue being as productive as before I needed to find a way of working that eliminated stress or using will power, which means working in a way that was renovated from the ground up. I couldn't go back. How I was making art was over. I needed it to be repaired. I had no idea what that looked like, so it was truly trial and error.
A fact about me is I have a very high sensory/pain threshold naturally (I also recently learned I was autistic over the pandemic, imagine that has something to do with it) so I've always been historically bad at ignoring my physical limitations because I rarely felt them unless my body broke down on me, and when it did I treated myself with annoyance and forced myself to work through it. I'm talking like no sleeping for 3-4 days straight, or coming home after a kidney stone to finish a comic page still shaky on pain and morphine and then feeling bad at myself for being lazy. To say my old work habits were highly self abusive is an understatement. So when I started addressing everything that was an inconvenience and uncomfortable, it ended up correcting everything I was ignoring or failed to consider a problem until it was past due.
To cut a long story short, a list of material changes to my life that improved my health:
I got medicated, finally. I'm extremely bipolar. Always have been. Drawing between periods of oscillating between feeling divinely invincible vs ideating suicide every waking moment vastly became easier to manage.
I got glasses. I'm farsighted, but it was never a problem for me since I could see fine -- ooor so I thought. Turns out when you're farsighted you're focusing constantly without even realizing it. Turns out getting glasses gave me 80% of my mental space back so I suddenly had more energy, generally more awake, and more focused. No one talks about farsightedness so I had absolutely no idea I was burning myself out physically just being able to see. Worth mentioning!
Started seeing a massage therapist and a chiropractor regularly. I always thought of those things as luxuries, not necessities. Which was extremely stupid. Maintaining my physical body through directly working out kinks in it became something like brushing my teeth or showering -- it's just something you do to make sure health and hygiene isn't making you dysfunctional and rotting you. My body no longer breaks down.
For the same reasons as above, maintained seeing my therapist regularly even if I felt fine or had no issues to work out. I realized I was always quick to end support as soon as I felt I didn't need it anymore (again treating it as a luxury) so making the space in my life for mental/emotional check ins kept my head organized. My therapist is bewildered by me and has no idea what to do with me because she feels she's not doing anything. I just tell her by me making the space for me to explain myself at all, even if all I was doing was describing how I was fine, was the help. She's great.
Got a cappuccino machine. May seem stupid but being able to make gourmet coffees from my kitchen every morning really genuinely improved my life and mind more than getting medicated.
Got a dog. He's amazing. I love him. Very warm and loving companion, and such a gentle soul. He keeps me out of my head and gets me prioritizing walks every day, so my vitamin D intake increased massively. I don't have the luxury of staying in bed for 3 days straight in my depressive episodes anymore. I have to make the effort to leave it at least twice a day to walk and feed him and play with him. Like most people, I'm terrible at prioritizing for myself but will move worlds for those I love no matter where I'm at.
For personal habits I just reflected a lot on why I felt I had to will myself to draw when drawing is something I love doing most. It made no sense to resent doing what you devote yourself to doing. I changed -- and still changing -- my mental framing in how I think of working on art for it to be something I'm eager to do, not obligated to.
Hope this was educational.

I think I have to get used to the fact all of the heroes in the 80s movies I watched as a kid are going to pass away soon. Arnold just had to get a pacemaker.
Louis Gossett Jr. was in my favorite fake Top Gun movies.
Tumblr media
They made 4 of these things and let's just say they did not get better as they went along. But Louis was always worth watching and never disappointed.
Just to give you an idea, here are some reviews from Wikipedia...
"Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times called the film "ludicrous", "preposterous", and "a total waste of time", saying it "achieves a kind of perfection of awfulness that only earnest effort can produce"."
"Film historian and reviewer Leonard Maltin dismissed the film as "a dum-dum comic-book movie […] full of jingoistic ideals and dubious ethics, along with people who die and then miraculously come back to life. Not boring, just stupid."
"10 year old Froggie praised the film as "Mega Rad!" and marveled "I liked when the planes exploded!" *proceeds to make explosion noises* Young Froggie even taped the first 3 movies on a single VHS tape and drew a bunch of fighter jets on the label. He watched the first film 84 times because his brother hogged the Nintendo."
All of that is to say, Louis was cool as shit. He was a big part of my childhood. And I will miss seeing him in movies.

The Bat Family Timeline and Ages (Post-Crisis and New Earth) with Sources
Tumblr media
Evidence
In Batman: Year One, Bruce is said to be 25 in the January he returns to Gotham. The 1976 DC Calendar puts Bruce's birthday on the 19th of February so Bruce is 26 during his first outing as Batman in April.
Marv Wolfman's Batman: Year Three (Batman vol. 1 #436) tells us that Dick Grayson's parents die in Bruce's third year. In Batman vol. 1 #441 (also by Wolfman) Tim says that Robin started appearing around 6 months after the death of the Flying Graysons. For Dick's age when he becomes Robin, see below.
Bruce joins the Justice League before Dick forms the Teen Titans. Both these teams form before Barbara Gordon becomes Batgirl at 16 (Batgirl: Year One).
Barbara and Dick are each other's dates to their high school prom and so are less than 2 years apart in age (Detective Comics vol. 1 #871).
I suspect Dick, who was an emancipated minor, graduated high school and started college a year early, which allows Dick and Barbara to have some time as the new Dynamic Duo, as we see in Batman Family.
Dick Grayson is 18 when he forms the New Teen Titans, all of whom are also teenagers (Nightwing vol. 2 #137 by Wolfman, who also created the New Teen Titans).
Dick Grayson is 19 when he becomes Nightwing (Batman vol. 1 # 416).
21 year-old Helena becomes Huntress (Huntress: Year One #1), and interacts with Batgirl, meaning that Barbara is not yet Oracle.
Jason dies at 15, 4 months before his 16th birthday (Batman Files). This is before the New Teen Titans' third year anniversary (New Titans #71), before any of the Titans turn 22 (Deathstroke vol. 1 Annual 1), 2 years after Dick becomes Nightwing and almost 10 years before Dick's parents are killed (Batman vol. 1 #436). Dick is hence 21 during these events and 11 when he became Robin.
I also kinda like Dick being 17 years younger than Bruce because that's also the age difference between Adam West and Burt Ward from the 60s TV series.
After these events, Tim Drake becomes Robin and is 13-14 (Batman vol. 1 #441 and Robin II #1)
Soon after, Stephanie Brown is 15 when she becomes Spoiler (Secret Origins 80-Page Giant).
Stephanie is still 15 when she realises that she is pregnant (Robin vol. 2 #59) and Tim is almost 15 during this time (Secret Origins 80-Page Giant).
Cassandra Cain is 17 when she comes to Gotham during this time (Batgirl vol. 1 #1), during No Man's Land which lasts one year.
Helena’s family were killed when she was 8 and during Batman/Huntress: Cry For Blood, Tim says the murders happened roughly 15 years ago, making her roughly 23 during this storyline.
Cass turns 18 in January (Batgirl vol. 1 #39), Tim Drake turns 16 (Robin vol. 2 #116), Jason would have turned 18 in August (Detective Comics vol. 1 #790), and Stephanie is 16 when she "dies" (Batman Allies Secret Files & Origin).
Personally I'd re-arrange Tim's 16th birthday to be the last of these events four events to accommodate him still being 17 late into the Batman: Reborn, see below.
Jason soon returns to Gotham as Red Hood, not long before Infinite Crisis, 52 and One Year Later.
Following the one year time skip, Dick says it's been almost 10 years since his misadventures with Metal Eddie and Liu as a 16-17 year old (Nightwing vol. 2 #133 by Wolfman), which makes sense because he would be 25 by my math.
Stephanie returns from her time as a medical volunteer in East Africa, finishes high school and begins university during Batman: Reborn. She'd turn 19 by the end of this year by my math, which is a typical age to be begin attending university (Gotham Underground and Batgirl vol. 3 #1).
Dick calls Damian Wayne a "10 year-old" before Stephanie attends university (Batman and Robin vol. 1 #2) and Steph still calls Damian a "10 year-old" while she's in her second semester (Batgirl vol. 3 #13 and Batgirl vol. 3 #17). He might have turned 11 before the reboot.
Batwoman: Elegy (Detective Comics #858), during the Batman: Reborn year, shows that Kate was 12 when she was kidnapped and saw her mother and sister killed. This incident is also said to happen "20 years ago”, making her 32 and hence 30-31 during her first appearance in 52/One Year Later.
Tim Drake is still 17 while Steph is in her second semester of her first year at university, and it's stated that he is meant to be in his senior year at high school (Batgirl vol. 3 #13, Red Robin #17 and Red Robin #25). It's possible he turns 18 before the reboot.
Mistakes I Made
Cassandra Cain is 21 in Year Eighteen.
The "Titans disbands" in Year Thirteen was definitely a year early but it's done.

Alan Scott is an old soul. You can see it in his eyes, when he speaks of the JSA like they're not gods, not heroes, just men. You can see it when he mentions the war, just like that, and the way he fought in it. It will always just be the war to him. He gave up his mask, his cape, his ring for years. He's younger than his daughter. He'll always be older.
Hal Jordan could tell you where he was when they announced they were going to the moon, where he was when Kennedy got shot, where he was when that rocket shot up to go to the moon all those years ago. He dresses like something out of an old black-and-white, and he speaks like it sometimes. He's been to all wide corners of the universe, yet he'll always come back to Coast City. You leave talking to him like you met someone from another time. Obedient and loyal, he still believes that there's good in everyone.
John Stewart is a man of the 70s, of anger and love in equal amounts. He's a protester-a protester against the people who hurt him and people like him. Authority doesn't mean good to him, believes there's corruption yet beauty in everything. He loves the stars, loves the angles and beauty. You can't imagine him using technology can you?
Guy Gardner is an 80s man, the coma changing and making him newer than he ever is. He's angry and rough and harsh and he loves them all more than anything. He doesn't believe in the good like Hal, he's not the main Gl like John. He's the darker but still classic idea of the 80s. Bowlcut, funky jacket, standing out, Guy is the classic in the face of the 80s.
Kyle Rayner is the epitome of the 90s. He's edgy, he's crude, he's dark and fun at the same time. He's all 3-D, comics and video games and nerdy shit. He's inherited a legacy built on the classic idea of a hero, but he's made it his own. He's the 90s hero, someone new, someone different, someone all his own.

in all seriousness though, kon being a character who is a clone came in at an incredibly unique time period wherein the capability of cloning a mammal, and therefore a human, were more abstract hypotheticals for a lot of people until they very suddenly weren't. when dolly the lamb was successfully cloned in 1996 there was absolutely a panic about the realities of cloning & the fear of the idea of where cloning was possibly going to go next and what did that mean for humans & what did that mean about the clones themselves and kon's narrative of exploited child star (which was more in conversation with the very public breakdowns of several 80s child stars in the 90s) was shifted to coincide with heightened public response to the very idea of cloning.
however, a lot of the fears of cloning died down over the next few years when a lot of the ethical concerns that john q. public was concerned about didn't come to pass (not that there weren't still, and aren't still ethical debates about all of that because they do very must exist, just not on the pervasive scale they did back then) and the next big thing in science was the full sequencing of the human genome. and that caused a whole *new* heightened public debate and concern over What Do Genes Really Mean. the idea that with the sequencing of the genome you could maybe actually find the genes that make someone bad or good, or find the genes that cause this or that very much brought the idea of genetic predisposition back into the forefront of people's minds & kon's narrative was then updated to reflect those concerns about the very idea of dna and genes. obviously the culture of comics writing itself has shifted & things are overbloated in a way they're not going to, hm, update old characters' struggles a ton from their status quo but if superboy was able to exist as he was back then today his story would probably written with today's concerns in mind they'd probably have more of a focus on stuff like crispr/gene editing & gut microbiota
