1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Good question uhhhh 55???? That seems like way more than I thought it would be....

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

523,858 words! Granted over half of that is just my slow burn story so lol

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Primarily I've written for My Hero Academia (40 out of the total 55). But I've also written for Kingdom Hearts, The World Ends With You, and more recently Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

I'm...genuinely shocked one of my LoZ fics is up there??? And so high??? 1, 3, 4, and 5 are all from my hero fanfics which is not surprising and most of them are super old. Number 2 I only posted in June and it was my first fic for LoZ so that's...interesting to say the least.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to! The last year or so I've had a hard time working up the energy or finding the words to respond to comments, sometimes. But whenever I do gather up the energy to do it, I tend to answer everything in my inbox in one fell swoop! And I always really appreciate getting them so tbh sometimes I feel bad that it can take so much energy to reply....

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh gosh idk if I have anything that qualifies as an angsty ending lol. Maybe Tarantism (a KH fic) because it's supposed to be feelsy and then the ending is one of those "it's just a dream" things haha.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Happiest...probably A Family's Orbit? The story has married izuocha with their first kid who they're not sure when or if she'll have a Quirk of her own. But the one-shot ends pretty happy.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Hmmmm I've gotten a handful of complaints on Drops of Jupiter, on occasion. Usually just people telling me I'm going too slow (when I put in the author's notes of the very first chapter that it's "the slowest of slow burns" smh). Or this one time someone told me I didn't give Deku enough victories in the fic and it would be way better if I did.

Outside of that though, I can't think of any on my other stuff. I've been blessed with very kind commentors, I think.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I've written a couple for Izuocha. But yknow usually, in all honesty, I've only ever written smut out of spite? The two fics I have (Burning Heat and Homecoming) were written in opposition to fandom tendencies at the time. Mostly everyone was talking about Izuku like someone who was a sex addict/sex god and Ochako was just kind of there. And I said "actually I think Deku's on the ace spectrum and probably mostly just cares about pleasing his partner than anything" and thus they were born. I haven't reread them in ages though that said lol

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Generally, no. However, about a year or so ago I got really into twewy again because I had just finished playing NEO:The World Ends With You. So I came up with a concept that kind of meshes twewy's concept with the my hero world? I only have one chapter posted of Death By Proxy so far, but I have an outline and little details written down whenever I'm in the right headspace for it. For what it's worth, you don't really need to know about twewy to read it, because Izuku finds out how everything works at the same time you do lol

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge. Here's hoping it stays that way lol

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know of? I've never been asked about it anyway.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not explicitly? I feel like I help out my friends with their stories and vice versa, but not really.

Although once upon a time me and a friend (you know who you are) wrote a KH fanfic together but I guess that was moreso just for us than anything else lol

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

Probably Izuocha, just going by the numbers.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Hmmm probably Eri-sitting? I really want to finish it at some point, and I posted the first part with every intention of doing it. But I never figured out the way I wanted to start chapter 2. Maybe someday though. Also!!! I did start writing a fanfic based off of heroes of the dark, but I didn't end up finishing it because it contrasted how the story ended and I thought completing that would be in poor taste with that said lol

16. What are your writing strengths?

Hmmm I've always found dialogue and characterization comes easier to me than I think it does to most others? There's always been discussions I've seen where people are like "oh sometimes the characters just do what they want" and I've never really...had that happen? Or at least not in a way that completely alters a story like I've seen people say. Little actions or pieces of dialogue that take me by surprise, sure, but like never anything that completely alters a plot beat I had planned. But usually at least for me, the plot beats are so centered around who they are or how they act that the odds of them veering off course are incredibly slim, if that makes sense

God I'm rambling uh dialogue and characterization I guess was my point haha.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Probably description is the thing I have the hardest time with. Some people are so good at writing a setting and making everything seem so like immersive in that way. For me, I don't see the point in describing something unless it's like relevant and so my description tends to be very to the point.

Also estimating a story's length. Usually I come up with a concept and then I'll say "oh yeah this'll only be this long" and then I start writing and writing and realize I had a lot more to say than I thought I did initially. This has happened a handful of times now haha

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic.

I definitely don't see anything wrong with it. I usually only do it for small phrases, myself, but partially because I'm not fluent in anything except for English. And I generally try to do some research or I'll check with friends if I have any who speak the language I'm using.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Kingdom Hearts! Back in the days of yore, yours truly actually wrote KH retellings with OCs back on quizilla lmao. I wrote quite a lot back then although with how long it's been most of the things I posted on there don't exist anymore. But that was back during 8th grade when I started.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Oh hmm I don't know. I feel like favorites is tough because I like a lot of my stories but for different reasons. I'm exceedingly proud of Drops of Jupiter for example. And I think it's been a true adventure to write and does have some of my best work in it as a result.

But I also think some of the prose and concepts I've made for Call From the Wild has a special place in my heart. It's very different from...basically anything else I've ever written because most ever other fic is "modern" in a manner of speaking and this was my first time writing something that's...decidedly not lol. I also think I'm fond of it because it's adhering to canon while allowing me the creativity to come up with how certain things happened since the details before the Calamity in botw are pretty limited...

Basically I guess my favorite kind of fic I've written is anything that really allows me to go nuts creatively.

psychiatrist gave me a new sleep aim to ward off the batshit violent nightmares of everyone i love dying

i went out of town with my mom today. drove a little over an hour to a major city to walk around the shops and little gimmicky places. got some dnd shit from a nerd store while mom stared at the miniatures with apprehension (“stevie do you really need these” “yeah they go on the board and are good for battles” “you said yourself that your players suck” “okay MAYBE it’s for me”). didn’t buy any of the fancy dice sets i wanted or anything. i showed the restraint of a goddamn nun. i did get more tacky biker rings though so i guess it balances out.

fell in love with a stray cat there. named him judas because i was listening to judas priest. i miss him.

i spent the rest of the day listening to the fellowship of the ring as an audiobook. i love sam gamgee so fuckin much. “mr frodo sir this fucking sucks can we get drunk” “oh my lovely and faithful sam. no. i wanna put my life at risk.” “shit alright i guess i’ll shield you from the scary ass horses or whatever” like sam and frodo are the epitome of “could you do it,,, for m e?”

sam is a fucking simp and i love him more than i love my own fucking family because they’re straight republicans and not hopelessly devoted homosexual gardeners. i’m a (formerly) hopelessly devoted homosexual and i wanted to be a botanist for a couple years there so i could be a gardener if i didn’t hate the sun so much. he’s just like me <3

i know that’s something petty to get annoyed with but hey man, just because i’m not an old bald dude who goes “YEAHHH SLAYER” at every show doesn’t mean i’m not part of that community. it’s like because i’m feminine looking and young they assume i’m trying to be quirky and different or something. nah dude i’m just actually fucked up.

“your parents must have good taste in music little lady” my mom listens mainly to country, is an ed sheeran super fan, and thinks that those shitty motivational songs are her anthems for putting up with her autistic asshole child. my dad heard me listening to misfits and goes “this guy sounds JUST like danzig” and i was like “i know????” and we looked at each other for a minute before i had to explain to him that danzig was IN misfits. i also was stealing his cds and found FOUR FUCKING NICKELBACK ALBUMS. so nah man i’m just a fuckin freak. a complete oddity. a deviant of my bloodline.

New Years Meme 2020

@arqueete: “This survey is a meme that has been passed around among my friends since back in LJ days. If you want to join in, please consider yourself tagged.”

I used to journal more, and stuff like this is really nice to look back on, because I have terrible memory for life stuff or the passage of time. So here, for future me.

1. What did you do in 2020 that you’d never done before? Uhhhh wear a mask to the grocery store? This was not a groundbreaking year for new experiences.

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions and will you make more for next year? I didn't have any. I don't make any. I mean, sometimes I make them in the vague "I want to focus on this in the future", but I'll already have forgotten by March, like I don't really PLAN my life in such a way. I just have goals that aren't tied to specific points in time. You get there when you get there, and you choose what you want to prioritise.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No, but my brother got married, which was very exciting because he's 40 and has never had a girlfriend who he considered important enough for me to meet. (And my sister-in-law is delightful.)

4. Did anyone close to you die? My (half-)brother's dad died a few weeks ago (cancer), but I didn't really know him, so I wouldn't say he was close to me. I did spend almost a week at my brother's place to be there for him though. And honestly, I kept thinking about how my mom's dead this year, because in a way I'm glad we didn't have to deal with this year together. She already died from respitory failure, had poor impulse control and sense of safety, and I would've been CONSTANTLY worried about her.

5. What countries did you visit? I was gonna go to Malaysia (for my brother's wedding celebration), but that didn't happen. (Flatmates were gonna go to Japan.) So. Yeah. Home country all the way.

6. What would you like to have in 2021 that you lacked in 2020? A driving force to move forward in my life?

7. What date from 2020 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? I don't think... that there is one specific day? I guess the US election? Despite me being Norwegian, it's still fairly historic.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? /stares blankly at the wall I did do some nice art pieces? I coped? I managed to have good times and make friends despite everything else.

9. What was your biggest failure? I dropped out of two classes specifically because I couldn't do remote learning and self-structured study (BECAUSE ADHD YO), even though it wasn't even that HARD subjects, which was very frustrating. It hasn't set my study plan back, thankfully, but it still felt like a waste.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Only mental. And thankfully not as bad as it could've been, but hell yeah there was some strong anxiety in there.

11. What was the best thing you bought? I've bought some great video games this year. Animal Crossing brought 250 hours of fun, Hades brought 100 hours so far. Good investments.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? // 13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Both of these are related to pandemic behavior so I think you can guess.

14. Where did most of your money go? Entertainment? Also, god, I spent so much money on theatre tickets that are now just vouchers for non-specific future performances. I'll get my money's worth eventually, but right now it's hundres of dollars worth just sitting in vouchers. OH, and, digital D&D books.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? I had tickets for Chess. Several tickets, for multiple performances. STILL HAVEN'T SEEN THIS PRODUCTION THOUGH. But they're still doing it so hopefully it will still happen.

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2020? Not sure I have any specific ones, actually. No iconic music.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: Last year I was feeling very accomplished. I was challenging myself, had befriended lots of classmates, had gotten through some stuff I was quite proud of managing. This year has been... not that. But on the other hand, I'm not as exhausted from school stuff, and I'm ready to actually go places and try to do things, as opposed to just wanting a month long nap.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? General life maintainance stuff. Not just school work, but like, focus more on money sensibility and try to get on disability, go to the dentist, work with my doctor more... All of that got a little bit just... postponed indefinitely.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Uh, can't think of any notable negative behaviour. It's mostly stuff I didn't do. Like, I had some bad anxiety in the spring, but honestly I think I did an appropriate amount of worrying.

20. How will you be spending Christmas? Had my first christmas with my flatmates (whom I love very much), and had my dad over as well. It was very lovely, and socially way less draining than usual.

22. Did you fall in love in 2020? lmao I'm aromantic

23. How many one-night stands? lmao I'm asexual

24. What was your favorite TV program? There were a few this year! Good Omens, The Queen's Gambit, Julie and the Phantoms, Avenue 5. There were more I watched and enjoyed, but I think those stand out the most. Also, does Critical Role count? OH, The Baby Sitters Club! A lot of good stuff.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Nah. I don't hate a lot of people.

26. What was the best book you read? Don't think I read anything notable this year. Don't read a lot of books, I prefer to consume stories in other media.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Julie and the Phantoms. Not because the music is astounding or anything, but it was very feel-good and fun. Don't think I had a lot of new music.

28. What did you want and get? D&D campaigns? Have gotten really invested in one of them in particular, it's delightful.

29. What was your favorite film of this year? Hmmm. The only one that stands out was The Old Guard. I watch more series than films. 2 hours isn't long enough for me to get properly invested AND satisfied.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 33 and I don't know that I did anything special. I think I just chilled? Flatmates made me a nice breakfast!

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Having the energy for essays/exams, probably. Just feeling like I actually had some accomplishments. OR LIKE. If Norway did like New Zealand and just wiped the virus out.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2020? Pyjamas. Occasionally 'apocalypse chic'.

34. What kept you sane? My flatmates and my dad. Reliable social interaction with people I care about.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Matthew McNulty, which applies to every single year. But this year I started both a gallery website and a discord server for him, so it was a particularly good year for him. (Special mention to Paul Spera, who I finally talked to face-to-face, through Zoom, but still.) Also I'm using 'fancy' platonically.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? Ha aha hah all of them, oh god. BLM, probably, though. That was when I still had the energy to get invested.

37. Who did you miss? So many people. Like, come on. I don't know that it was even specific people so much just... being in a group? Like, my choir gang?

38. Who was the best new person you met? Met a guy I ended up playing a LOT of board games with. We haven't really talked in a few months now tho. And there's a friend I didn't MEET this year, but I really connected with, who's also now my DM, which was really nice.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2020: It's not necessarily new knowledge, but this year has really driven home the need for both community solidarity and governmental support/leadership.

Summary: It's been a conflicted year, a lot has felt like it's been on stand-still, but there's still been some good things in there.

1. What does your muse smell like?

A distinctly free and ancient Mediterranean woman. Salt, a perfume she makes of patchouli, jasmine and passionflower, fresh fruits like peaches and apricots. She makes her own soaps and takes great pride in her good hygiene. Washing regularly and taking particular care of her hair with high end shampoos and conditioners. Braiding expensive oils into the locks before she sleeps.

Those days you would spend at the beach all day and wander home to shower, grace golden skin with fine perfumes and silk to treat yourself to a delicious meal and a glass of wine. A body hot from the day spent in the blazing heat of a July day, falling asleep amongst crisp sheets cold as they should be, a relief against the slightly seared skin of your cheek.

2. What do your muse’s hands feel like?

A pleasant balance between fragile, slim, bony ladies hands and hardy, powerful hands of someone who trains with their hands every day of their life. Small but strong. The few scars she has are from before her transformation. Her middle and index knuckles on her right hand scarred in small faded splits from training, smooth and soft.

The scars of a child who fought for their place stretched across the hands of a young woman with no need to continue the fight but does for the nostalgia, the belonging.

3. What does your muse usually eat in a day?

For the morning it is usually a strong cup of tea with milk, a fruit juice of any kind and homemade bread with butter or toasted with jam.

For most of the rest of the day she snacks her way through when she can. Pastries, nectarous fruits, hard aged cheeses with honey and ground coffee, little pouches of nuts and dried berries in every bag/jacket she owns pretty much. Can’t catch Xio without snacks!

Her nights she typically makes a homemade pasta or a tray of vegetables roasted with balsamic, garlic salt and pepper, lots of olive oil. She eats simply but indulgently. Not a particular fan of extravagant meals, tons of courses and hours taken over eating 20 plates. The types of cuisines she appreciates best are those that do simple things to the highest quality, Italian, Japanese, Greek, Portuguese.

4. Does your muse have a good singing voice?

Of course! However, she rarely sings for anyone. Not for any reason other than they don’t ask. She uses it to soothe herself and others to sleep, most of the songs she takes to are ancient folk songs from whatever nations she takes to. Asking the oldest members of society to teach her their songs, their histories, their meanings. To carry on history as an immortal is essential to her, especially in the ways she feels are most important; culturally.

5. Does your muse have any bad habits or nervous ticks?

Uhhhh looks away from the long list of atrocities Xio has committed over the years to soothe her grief. Does murdering people count? I’d say that’s a pretty bad habit hahaha

She tends to make a bit of a bad habit out of one-night stands honestly in a lot of her verses. Causes some uncomfortable run ins especially if she’s getting a bit long lived and runs into someone she banged 40 years ago looking the exact same as she did that night.

6. What does your muse usually look like / wear?

Oh I wish I could just show you a ton of photos I have saved for how I imagine she dresses.

Always well dressed, even when she’s under dressed or half dressed. A picture of effortless elegance, thrown together, sultry and graceful.

Xio dresses in a lot of silk, she finds it very pleasing and quite sexy. Cashmere winters, linen summers. She dresses a little like 70s trust fund baby would hahaha pretty preppy and clean. Crisp cotton shirts with a silk scarf in her hair, wool or cashmere trousers, maybe a silk slip thrown over the top of the shirt instead, not uncommon for a mini skirt to appear in the summer.

Loves dresses over all though. Fond of clothes that are easily...pulled up her thighs or necklines to be pulled down. Always prepared.

The general wardrobe colours are sandy camel, light dawn blues and lilacs, white and charcoal greys. Black if she’s feeling especially chic or broody. ✨NEUTRALS✨

7. Is your muse affectionate? How much? How so?

omfg don’t get me STARTED. This idiot sea simp wants to curl up in you lap, play with your hair and sing you to sleep, kiss every segment of your fingers and bless every bone in your body with her touch, and she’s only just seen you across the room. Xiomara craves intimacy, especially on a deeper level, but she doesn’t need to love you or be loved to make you feel like a worshipped hero of old.

Let her bury herself amongst your desires.

She has types and she has boundaries but it isn’t hard to have her sitting in your lap and lavishing you with all the love she has to give unless she’s feeling like making you wait and beg for her attention. Flings and one night stands are worth no less to her than a soulmate. In the end she hopes in every partner to find someone who could love her, give her those eyes that truly say they are hers and that she’ll look into them and fall herself.

8. What position does your muse sleep in?

On her front with a leg pulled up on the side she’s facing. She’s a restless sleeper to say the least so this half-foetal position is semi-soothing. By restless I don’t mean she moves a lot because she doesn’t move much but just in case you’re new here, Xio suffers terrible ptsd driven nightmares and occasional night terrors. Almost all focussing on the death of her sister but sometimes on the faces of her dead peers and people, wooooo!

9. Could you hear your muse in the hallway from another room?

Not in the slightest, she moves extremely quietly, eerily so. Thank the sirens who made her, for making the tiny, creepy, walking jump-scare that is Xiomara Athanas. In fact she’s grown to like sneaking up on people in her life, causing a little mischief. Seeing them sigh in relief when they recognise her but internally chuckling at the amount of times in her work there’s a gasp of horror instead. ...I never said she was lawful good here, guys...

1. what is the color of your hairbrush? My regular one is grey, but I have a purple one in my purse that i use a lot.

2. name a food you never eat- i’ll try anything at least once. Foods i’d rather NOT eat again? Hmmm probably sea urchin

3. are you typically too warm or too cold? too cold, especially my arms for some reason

4. what were you doing 45 minutes ago? feeding my 11 days old baby

5. what’s your favorite candy bar? ok so this changes quite often, right now i’d say Aero. Ask me in a month or two and it might be something completely different (i’m very partial to After Eight chocolates around the holidays)

6. have you ever been to a professional sports game? yes, many times! i live in the hockey mecca of the Montreal Canadiens and have been to many, many games. i’ve also attended soccer games of the Montreal Impact and Lisbon’s Benfica. Oh and the Women’s Cup that was held in Montreal a few years back, that was fun! Back when Montreal still had a baseball team (RIP the Expos), i went to a few as well. I’ve also attended matches of the Rogers Cup (tennis).

7. what is the last thing you said out loud? “love you” to my husband who just took over with the baby so i could have a bit to myself and answer this! haha

8. what is your favorite ice cream? i’m a simple gal: i like vanilla because it can be matched with so many flavours. i also really love Ben & Jerry’s The Tonight Dough (created by Jimmy Fallon)

9. what was the last thing you had to drink? water. i drink a lot of water because breastfeeding

10. do you like your wallet? i love my wallet! Ever since 2005, all my purses and wallets are from this Portuguese company called Cavalinho and they’re all gorgeous!

I have a wet brush that’s bright blue, but I also have a hairbrush that’s red!

2. Name a food you never eat

uhhhh...olives, but only when they’re on their own.

3. Are you typical too warm or too cold?

I’m always too cold. always, always, always. my fingers are currently freezing and so are my toes. I think it’s because there’s a loose draft in my room here somewhere, TBH.

4. What were you doing 45 minutes ago?

roses are red // 45 minutes ago // i was writing poetry // and answering all my asks in a row

i’ve been sending people asks in poetry form and they’ve been responding, LOL -- so there’s been a lot of poetry brain going on!

5. What’s your favorite candy bar?

either a nice dark chocolate bar or a green tea kit kat bar!

6. Have you ever been to professional sports event?

I’ve been to a few professional baseball games! gotta get out there and have some mass sports pride. one of these days, my american football team will be good again and I will get those tickets.

some half-hearted mumble-harmonizing to pentatonix’s be my eyes, so something along those lyrics!

8. What is your favorite ice cream?

either black raspberry (s/o to campus!!) or mint chocolate chip :)

I do! It’s the first “grown-up” wallet I feel like I’ve ever had -- I bought it from camden market last year when I was in london, and it’s a nice pine shade of green and made of cork. unfortunately, because i bought it in london, it also means that it doesn’t hold american currency quite as well, but it’s okay, i make do, LOL!

11. What is the last thing you ate?

my dad made spaghetti bolognese and I ate that with a hecking ton of bread. it was fantastic :)

unfortunately, no :( i can’t remember the last time I bought new clothes. maybe january? february? before the pandemic started.

13. What’s the last sporting event you watched?

I think...I know it was definitely a pats game, and I’m pretty sure we lost, so it’s somewhere along the lines of pats v. ravens, I think

extra buttery, even though it would probably murder me :’)

16. Ever been camping?

I have! I went a long time ago, like nine years ago long ago, I think somewhere out west? I slept on an air mattress, went to an outdoor bathroom, all that fun jazz! and the bug bites, LOL.

17. Do you take vitamins?

my mom: so you’ve got the probiotic, the vitamin c and the biotin...

18. Do you regularly attend a place of workship?

I don’t -- my dad used to go to church regularly, but other than that, I’ve never been to church and we’ve never been as a family.

i don’t know how this happened but I literally still have shorts tan from like, august. it is the middle of november, someone tell me how I got here. a couple of years ago, I burnt so badly on a trip to LA I was still seeing the tan months later, LOL. and most of the time, I have some fair flip-flop tan!

20. Do you prefer chinese or pizza?

chinese, because pizza has the ability to murder me

21. Do you drink your soda through a straw?

it it’s a takeout cup, then odds are good i’m drinking it through a straw, but other than that nope :)

white or grey, I think? i have some funky colored ones but i’m trying to change that

i’m having flashbacks to a conversation I had with a friend who laughed at me for going five miles above the speed limit -- yes, I do, but only the allowed five miles above the speed limit and none more

24. What terrifies you?

oh, no, you don’t want to ask me that, we’d be here all day...being abandoned, I guess? being left by the people I care about, becoming too attached to people because they can leave and hurt me, spiders, heights, the pandemic, being hated, being alone...my own emotions, sometimes.

my tubby nugget! he smiles at me, and I feel a lil better :)

26. What chore do you hate the most?

i literally could not tell you how much I hate cleaning the grout in our bathroom tile. it is a CHORE.

the hemsworth brothers, but also someone I met abroad who was from perth and had the same name as me, LOL

ginger ale!

29. Do you go in a fast food place or just hit drive through?

depends on where I’m hitting, tbh -- if i’m in a hurry, we’re going straight through the drive-thru. but if it’s an event, then we’ll go in! have a fun time. sit for a while and talk.

my dad, I’m pretty sure -- we talked about pandemic unemployment assistance :)

i’m supposed to be up at 8 am, but I’m usually up anywhere between 9 and 10am. I...need to change that, LOL.

40. What do you prefer, sunrise or sunset?

i love both! but I like sunset because I’ve never specifically woken up to see the sunrise, i’ve only seen it out of coincidence because I pulled an all nighter to do work

41. How many blankets on your bed?

three, at the moment -- a costco blanket, my college blanket and a five-below blanket

42. Describe your kitchen plates.

white with a floral border

it’s lived-in -- we have a side table that’s always at the risk of a collapsing, a power strip that runs a kettle, microwave and toaster oven (you can never run two of them at once otherwise the strip shuts off), kitchen mats that will never get rid of their crumbs and a healthy, healthy pantry!

44. Do you have a favorite alcoholic drink?

either pink moscato wine or a rekorderlig cider!

45. Do you play cards?

i used to a lot, when I was younger! when I got older I stopped finding people to be able to play them with, unfortunately.

46. What color is your car?

silver! (even though I share it with my sister)

47. Can you change a tire?

no, but I’d definitely like to learn :)

48. Your favorite state or province?

new york or california, honestly. probably california. it’s the place I’ve felt the most free :)

49. Favorite job you’ve had?

i’ve had a lot of internships but not a lot of jobs, but I’d probably have to say it was the one I had at dunks -- so many funny things and stories came out of it, and now I have enough barista experience to power my coffee shop fics for a lifetime!

= I will never in my life, eat pickles. Even tho they sound super delicious when they crunch lol

= I’m too warm lol. Natural heater here.

= Some homework for speech class

= oh that’s a hard one uhhhh... I guess... snickers.

= nah. Not into sports and even if I was, wouldn’t want to spend money to be surrounded by screaming people.

= Cookie Dough. Especially from Rite Aid

= nah. Most are super bitter and sour to me and end up giving me bad heartburn. So nah, haven’t found my drink but I do want to try Sex On The Beach cause I heard it’s especially sweet and smooth.

= grey. Yes, I own a car but I don’t drive it lol. My mom does tho.

I don’t really buy clothes all that often. Most all of my clothes are from high school/college or a oh so daring shopping spree I went on last summer just to update some of my worst wardrobe peices (and buy overalls. Overalls are the best)

To the SO. I was being tired and annoyed so when I was trying to sleep and he walked out of the room and left the light on I just texted him “Light??” and then he kindly turned it off.

YES! I never did as a kid but my SO and I love the great outdoors. Our best vacation together was going cross country and camping at a bunch of different landmarks. Now we live in a house in the forest and it’s like we live in a cabin and I love it <3

Yep! Multivitamin every morning.

The only church services I’ve been to are funerals and that one time when I was struggling emotionally and tried to join my friend’s church.

Noooooo! I don’t even drink soda. But I do have a metal, reusable straw for my giant water container :)

Blue? All my socks are patterned, multi-colored ones so it’s never the same. Today I’m wearing ones with penguins on them, and the penguins have scuba gear on.

My first time ever driving I went way over the speed limit.

Probably writing tutor or Communcations aide. I liked doing a wide breadth of writing stuff in my job, and I also enjoyed helping people.

49. How did you get your biggest scar?

Embarrassing. I was on blood thinners because I had a clotting disorder, so I scraped my arm against a door and even though it wasn’t that deep, it bled for hours. I have an inch scar there now.

Made my SO watch a funny video in bed, offered eggs to an internet friend, and gave my sweet doggo a peanut :)

3) how did you choose your instruments? honestly can’t remember, i just remember wanting to learn a cooler instrument than recorder (sorry recorder lol i still think ur cool) and somehow stumbling upon the idea of saxophone - i had tried clarinet and flute with not much luck and wasn’t really interested in brass or strings lol (i started ukulele after our school bought a load to teach the year 7s and i nabbed one one lunchtime and was like WOW THIS IS SO EASY) ((flute because i’ve always low-key wanted to play flute and at uni made best mates with a gorgeous flautist [ i see u meg ;) ] who let me borrow her old flute and taught me some basics!))

4) what was the first instrument that you learned? aforementioned (pink plastic) recorder - although it was probs technically singing i sang a lot as a kid

40) is there a particular piece that you played years ago but still remember very well? uhhhh OH there’s this piece called celtic christmas that our school orchestra did when i was in year 7, HIGHKEY thought it was a banger and still do now

48) what’s something helpful your band director/drum major/section leader/etc has said? uhhhh my saxophone teacher right from when i first started to when i left college was also the county concert band conductor and she always hummed the theme from the great escape to determine how fast 120bpm was - me and my friends found it so funny and i still use that one a lot

Kwon Jiyong x Reader

Sequel to “Disaster Date” and requested by @40-degrees-farenheit

Summary: You try to get over your boyfriend’s recent death, but his sister delivers a package for you from him, sending you into chaos.

Word Count: ~1.6K

Warnings: coping with death, taboo/dark/black magic; it’s sad if that’s not obvious

A/N: I finished this a week ago (I think?) but my life has been bad so I haven’t been able to type it up and post it until now. The other requests will also probably take forever. Sorry.

On Tuesday, you find yourself back at his resting place. You sit there, staring at his pictures and the urn. You examine all the flowers, the never-ending gifts sent in by fans.

"I'm sorry, Jiyong. This is my fault. I hate that our Tuesdays have turned into this."

After a few hours, you pack up and leave, taking one final look at his immortalized smile. You don't know what to do with yourself. You still haven't returned to work since the incident. As you slowly make your way back to your quiet apartment, your phone rings. You stop and sigh, no longer able to multitask even the simple things like walking and talking on the phone. Checking, you almost break down as you see the caller ID, but compose yourself.

"Hello, Dami. How are you?"

"About as bad as you, I'd assume. We cleaned out some of his things and found something marked to give to you. Should I bring it over?"

"Sure. I'm on my way home now. I should be there before you."

"Oh, it's Tuesday, isn't it? I'm sorry, Y/N, I'm so sorry."

"Don't be sorry. It's not your fault. Things will eventually be okay." You say the last sentence through clenched teeth, not believing the statement in the slightest.

Finally making it home, you wait in silence for Dami to arrive with whatever she found. You don't even allow yourself to think about the possibilities, as your thoughts would be too loud for your preference. Once she arrives, you let her in with the cardboard box in her hands. Instructing her to set it down on the table, you question her about the contents.

"I don't know. It's sealed and addressed to you." She points to your name on the package, handwritten in his distinct print. "I know he wrote this, but I don't know what it could be. The date he wrote is next week, so I figured he wanted to give it to you then."

You just stare at the box in silence. Dami excuses herself, claiming to need to get back to her son. You walk her out then resume your gaze on the box. Seeing his handwriting for your name and the date makes you momentarily forget his death. You can't help yourself and open the box. Inside, you find a couple seemingly unrelated items: a pair of shoes, a clothesline, and a ring. Along with the items sits a handwritten note:

I know you'll open this before the date, but make sure to use all these things together on Tuesday, okay? Don't worry about me. I'll be there in time. We'll do your laundry together. I'm sure you haven't since there's too much going on. This will be date night, okay? You better not leave me hanging. (Like my joke~?)

You read and reread the note. You can't process it. Questioning whether or not to follow instructions, you confuse yourself even more.

Did he know? Or was this meant before he died? There's no way he can show up. He couldn't have predicted his death. He would've tried to avoid it if he knew. But why would he prepare this instead of just giving it to me? None of this makes sense.

Throwing the items back into the box, you push the box and your thoughts away, sweeping everything under the bed. You grab a bottle of your favorite alcohol -- you've had plenty in this past week, but you keep your supply up since you don't know how else to clear your mind. Heading to your room, you turn on the TV and take a drink straight from the bottle.

You laugh at yourself, "He'd scold me if he was here." Then, you shake your head to get rid of the thought, taking another drink.

After a while, you unknowingly fall asleep.

The week drags on again. Finally reaching Monday night, you find yourself sitting in the bathtub with the shower beating down on you. Suddenly, you remember the box and its contents. Curling into yourself even more, your thoughts flood your mind again. You still can't decide whether to follow the instructions or not. You sit there contemplating for long enough for the day to roll over to the next, although you wouldn't have noticed without the nearby church bells going off to signal 12 AM.

After a bit longer, you force yourself up and out of the tub. Half in frustration, you drag the box from its hiding spot and throw it to the area where you usually do laundry, deciding to follow through. Even though you know that he can't show up, your loyalty to him wins out. Plus, you'll need to wash clothes either way, so it can't hurt to use the new gifts.

When the sun starts rising, you gather the large amount of dirty clothes and pile them in the proper area. You prepare everything: gather the necessities, prep and start the washer, hang the clothesline. When you hear the washer alert you that the clothes finish, you slip on the shoes, gather the wet clothes in the basket, and slip on the ring before starting to hang everything up on your balcony.

As usual, you start with the bigger items. You shake out your bed sheet of excess water and throw it over the clothesline. Suddenly, it feels like someone helps you to adjust it properly from the other side. Poking your head around to check, you stumble backwards after seeing Jiyong's form on the other side. Knowing your reaction, however, he catches you before you fall over entirely.

"Hey, love. Told you I'd come. Why did I still scare you?" His sweet laugh at your expense makes you tear up. You haven't heard his voice, felt his warmth, or seen his laughing face in two weeks, but it feels like years. And you thought you'd never be able to feel it again.

You throw yourself at him, enveloping him in a tight him as you cry into his chest. His warm hug only makes you cry more, so he silently rubs your back to help you release everything. After you regain your composure, questions flood out of your lips.

"How did you get here? Did you know you'd die? Why didn't you avoid it? How can I see and touch you again when we cremated your body? You aren't a figment of my imagination, right?"

"Hey, hey. Calm down, Y/N. One question at a time. No, I'm not a figment of your imagination. Uhhhh... No, I didn't know I'd die, but a fortune teller told me to give you those items on the date on the package."

"Did they give you more information about it?"

"Lemme think... I remember him mentioning something about five years, but I really can't remember if it was even related to this. But let's not waste time worrying about it, okay?"

You agree and the two of you chat until the clothes dry. Your boyfriend disappears with the water. As sad as his disappearance makes you, you vow to wash clothes weekly, hoping for more chances with him. Despite being confined to your porch, you look forward to the dates just as much as, if not more than, before. You definitely treasure your time with him much more, keeping the thought of an unknown time limit in the back of your mind. You spend the next few months washing any clothes you need to on Tuesday every single week.

After about 15 weeks, you start noticing something about him and about yourself. He hasn't mentioned anything about events he normally would. His sister's birthday passes by without any mention of it. You also notice yourself falling deeper in reliance of these meetings with him. You've skipped out on after-work drinks multiple times - something you'd never normally do, even on date nights.

"Jiyong, do you know the day and time anymore?"

"Of course. I know it's Tuesday. I also know it should be around 3 PM."

"No. The date. Would you be able to tell me the date if I asked?"

"Oh. No, I can't. I assume it's probably August. Seems like monsoon season based on the humidity and the smell. Why?"

"I was shocked when you didn't ask about Dami's birthday when it passed a few weeks ago."

You stare at his form, watching his face crinkle up as he tries to recall the name in failure, "Dami's birthday? Why would I ask? Your birthday hasn't passed, right? That's all that matters to me."

His statement horrifies you. Not only has he clearly forgotten his own sister - he doesn't even care. That isn't like him at all. You play along until he disappears for the week, then curl up on your bed, wondering who the appearance really is.

You refuse to use the objects he gave you when you instinctively wash your clothes the next week. Using the extra time that you aren't wasting with the appearance, you visit him resting site only to find graffiti on the glass in front of his urn, most of it aimed at you for "getting over his death" so quickly. A picture of you on your porch peaks through a bouquet of flowers. Taking it, you see the figure you believed to be your boyfriend.

In the picture, you clearly see someone different; someone completely unknown to you sits next to your smiling form, staring directly at the camera with a devilish grin.
