SO im doing research on the Indian transgender protection act 2019 for my final project and I would really appreciate to get more info and publish it if possible.
India needs concrete change that can be brought about by providing policymakers and organisations with actionable information on the injustices faced by queer people.
To help bring these injustices to light, we as queer people and allies request you to spare 3-5 minutes of your time and answer a few questions.
We urge BOTH LGBTQ+ AND NON-LGBTQ+ people (the latter serving as a control group to measure the extent of discrimination) of ALL AGES to contribute to this critical cause.

I am surprised how there is no action or much condemnation being called against the "doctors" here. But again there are no protection laws for gay people here nor any criminalization of conversion therapy.
While the relatively progressive part of the state and country is more understanding most of the reaction to this case is really sad. People are saying there was nothing wrong with what the parents did to the woman because they're her parents and raised and fed her. But this sentiment about children owing their parents everything including their freedom as if they're gods is very common in India and knows no limits.
And ofc since the detained was Muslim many people from the community are saying how this was the "bare minimum" as the Quran apparently calls for death penalty of "such people". (I have no idea whether that's true or not but I am just paraphrasing).
I wish for their recovery from this trauma and I am relieved they got each other back eventually.
I don’t know if the recent surge of online homophobic and transphobic hatred in India is just because more people are becoming aware of the LGBTQIA+ community and their first instinct is to leave a hate comment.
I don’t know if it’s because there are more open and visible Indian queer folks online now.
I don’t know if this will translate into more hatred in real life towards queer folks.
I just think it’s ironic. That a country with so much queer history and a passion towards love is demonising queer love.
Indian queers would get you all talking and interested and then after a day leave you hanging dry and deactivated.. please don’t message me if you like to disappear often. I like permanence and clarity. Happy Diwali lovelies✨✨
