Jake Kim x Reader: Hands

I want you all to feel how I feel when I see Jake Kim in gloves

Hands give valuable insights. A bit like eyes being windows to the soul. At least that was what you had always thought.

Jake's hands are large. Comforting even. The way he envelopes yours always leave you feeling protected. Safe.

They're calloused, thanks to years of fighting. Years old scars litter his fingers and palms, new ones constantly crop up.

Despite this, there's a certain softness that you never expected. He takes care of them. Keeps his nails clean and trimmed.

You thought this was a keen assessment of Jake as a person.

Over time, you develop a strange relationship with Jake's gloves.

Each time he pulls them on, your throat dries and any train of coherent thought is derailed.

And really, you have no idea where this has come from. Or at which point it developed.

The gloves are his dad's, it's associated with blood and pain.

But the way it changes Jake's demeanour, from your sweet goofy boyfriend to a stone-cold killer awakens a deep longing within you.

The way he squares up with his gloved hands, or runs those fingers through his hair, or just the sight or thought of him gripping anything.

A weapon, his phone, you.

Maybe it's the preparation that unfurls something in the pit of your stomach. The symbolism. Hearing the tug of leather when he pulls them on. The anticipation that he means business to those that have wronged him.

You feel your body naturally heat, and you turn a little more wild everytime he dons them.

It really does well to highlight how big and strong and manly those hands are. How big and strong and manly Jake Kim is.

You always did like his hands.

Day 8 of September prompts — "windmill" (216).

It’s a curious look she gets, sometimes. More than sometimes, she acknowledges, and she doesn’t always like it. The women who come into the shop go puzzled at her accent, like the scratch of a record needle, or people she meets at a dinner gather round like she’s a party trick. And then the rush to make some silly comment, something to make it about themselves, to fill the silence she’s left by looking at them blankly.

In her less charitable moments she feels retorts bubbling in her chest, something about how she keeps her wooden shoes at home and not at work, about how her brother’s job involves turning the windmill blades on still days. If it’s not those sugary, curious looks it’s pity, and she doesn’t know what she dislikes more.

Maybe she should learn to smile it off, but she’s not one for falseness and never has been. When someone who shares the same look behind her eyes enters the shop, that’s when she can be herself. Someone who knows what she knows or closer to it than someone who only thinks of tulips in full bloom. When they can speak the same language — maybe it’s Dutch or maybe it’s English, or maybe it’s silence, a look, the simplest of all to share.

Magic HC-Fighting

Headcanon of how duels in the game translate into the Spiral Stories Universe.

In the Spiral Stories Universe, duel circles like the ones we see in Wizard101 are a "professional sparring" thing. Those that partake in professional or regulated duels take turns and remain within their designated "personal" circles.

Emily, however, has far more experience in non-professional sparring, occasionally referred to as "street sparring" to some. These types of fights can come in two ways. Outside a duel dome and inside a dome. This dome must be summoned by one of the participants of the fight and will contain any spell summoned within the dome. Should a participant in the fight within the dome wish to leave, they must either surrender or be defeated. This includes the initial dome summoner. Emily learned very quickly how to summon this dome in order to prevent non-fighters from getting injured.

The second form is non-dome fighting. It is very similar to dome fights but runs the risk of spells causing damage and/or harm to non-fighters. Within the magical community, it's severely frowned upon to cast major spells involving large creatures outside of a dome and is even a major crime in some worlds.

Regardless of if a fight is professional sparring, a dome fight, or a non-dome fight, every participant will form an Aura Bubble around them. This bubble is a visual representation of a person's magical resistance and/or if they are shielded or trapped.

The picture visualizes what Emily would have around her in a fight. The color of a person's Aura Bubble changes depending on the person's school of magic, proficiency, and experience.

Spell cards and decks exist in the universe and are needed to cast larger spells as they assist with the summoning of creatures or bridging the magic-user to their chosen spell's magical source. The game's randomization, however, doesn't exist. Every card within a spell deck is summoned at the start of a duel. However, a magic-user must build up their magic in order to put enough force into the attack spell for it to do anything against the opponent. There is a balance between building up one's magic and the attack itself. This isn't to mention that if a magic user attempts to summon a powerful attack right away that the spell will refuse to obey, either by outright fizzling or the creature itself refusing to listen to the order of attack.

I think that's it for now. I might add more images later to depict spell decks and cards as well as what a magical dome would look like! Also, think I'll make a post explaining more about those cards and how treasure cards are created and used. I will probably post tomorrow soon about in-universe healing and the different types that can take shape and/or shadowmancy and the effects it can have on a magic-user!

I want an AU where after Jason gets brought back to life, he channels his inner rage and turmoil into the academics instead of murder

Talia has like infinite money and a crap ton of influence, so she can absolutely get Jason the best tutors and can easily get him into the most prestigious schools if Jason wanted to (she doesn't need to do that though because Jason's just smart enough to get into them on his own)

The major he chooses? Med.

Why? Because Bruce dropped out of med school.

Jason practically flies through all the secondary education that he needs to catch up on and is already en route to earning his bachelor's AND his master's.

And it'd be so incredibly funny if the way Bruce and Jason reunite in this AU was purely by coincidence.

Bruce (as Brucie Wayne) offers to show up as a guest lecturer at Hudson University (the school Dick attended but dropped out of so double points for Jason), maybe to talk about future career paths and job positions at WE idk

So as Bruce is just wandering around the campus, he randomly bumps into a student and immediately puts on the Brucie act and is all "Oh my, I'm SO sorry, I'm just a klutz haha" only to stop dead silent when he makes eye contact with a very alive, very grown Jason Todd, who also stops dead in his tracks, mouth agape, staring at Bruce like the world's about to end

And before Bruce can get his thoughts straight, Jason just bolts out of there like his life depends on it, and Bruce is just in shambles for the rest of the day.

It doesn't help that the person giving Bruce the tour is all like "Oh yeah, that's Jason, he's one of the heads on our student council haha, anyways, this way, Mr. Wayne." and Bruce is just stood there bluescreening.

Alternatively, it'd be kinda funny if this all happened AFTER the events of UTRH where after the final encounter with Bruce and Joker and the whole explosion, Jason's just like "yk what, maybe I'm just gonna turn over a new leaf and pursue a higher education"

So while Gotham's still reeling from the aftermath of Jason's near takeover as the top crime lord and Bruce is still painstakingly trying to figure out where his son went, the whole time Jason's just been chilling on a school campus and Bruce just so happens to bump into his son (who, last time they met, tried to kill Bruce and blew up the building they were all in) and Jason's just all normal-looking with his textbooks and nerdy glasses and Bruce doesn't know whether to scream or cry.

Do you guys notice how when Shawn Fain, president of the United Auto Workers union, started planning a general strike, he did it by a) targeting his messaging towards unions with the ability to safely and effectively strike in large numbers, b) laid out a clear, actionable plan for those unions to follow (setting contracts to all expire at the same time, since many unions cannot strike while under contract), c) is using union contracts to set clear, actionable demands that can be met in order to gauge success and provide an end goal, and d) started organizing FOUR YEARS before the proposed strike date to give people the chance to plan accordingly, because it takes a really freaking long time to get tens of millions of people organized?

You notice how he didn't do it by slapping a message on Twitter saying 'hey nobody go to work on Monday, that'll really show 'em'?
