Everyday i discover people who haven't watched Eternals, simply because it was bombed with negative reviews even before its release.
And everyday i feel sorry for all these people who are missing out on:
the magic that is created by Druig and Makkari's playful yet ages old romance, expressed in just 4 words: “My beautiful, beautiful Makkari”
the platonic/romantic/queer platonic bond between Thena (mentally ill) and Gilgamesh (big guy who's a softie)
the cool, rich, south asian superstar n diva Kingo, plus his amazing and thoughtful valet Karun n his arsenal of cameras
the most beautiful display of romance & domesticity between Phastos (a gay black man) and his husband Ben (a gay arab man), and their adorable little son
the conflict and struggles of both Ikaris & Sersi in choosing their paths or their love for each other
the frustrations of Sprite as the only differently built of them and also their chaotic nature
the motherly, loving and kind yet composed and respected leader Ajak
the funny yet easily accepting Dane Whitman
.
.
like i feel sorry so many are mindless sheep who run with the hate bandwagon without even trying something on their own to actually see if its good or bad.
Anyways, Eternals was amazing and i hope they return soon. And much love to all the fans here ♥

– 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐀𝐑 || 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐠
SUMMARY: The gift of foresight had served you well, until it doesn't. Rescuing you from an unpleasant vision, your love knows exactly what to do to bring you back to the present.  PAIRINGS: Druig x Eternals!Female!Reader TAGS/WARNINGS: romance; angst
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since you could remember, you existed for one reason and one reason only:
SERVE ARISHEM. ELIMINATE ALL DEVIANTS.
It had been one of your earliest thoughts when you first woke in The Domo, second only to the name Arishem–celestial supreme–had bestowed unto you:
Y-O-U-R-N-A-M-E.
"I am [Y/N]," you tested aloud, awed by the smooth tone of your voice.
Across from you, a large figure entered your line of sight and as you raised your head to consider the new-comer, you were taken aback once you saw who it was.
Out of all the males you’d awoken with, the stranger was perhaps the youngest of them all.
He was tall, nearly a head taller than you, and while your uniform was dappered in metallic [favourite colour] with [complimentary colour] accents, his uniform consisted of blacks and reds.
The colours he wore were a stark contrast to his skin, pale as though kissed my moonlight and complimentary all the same against the sharp lines and contours of his face.
"[Y/N], is it?" An equally low voice greeted in turn, a mischievous glint taking root in piercing blue eyes.
The young man had drawn close the moment he started speaking, your tongue growing laden as he paused in front of you. "Beautiful name for an equally beautiful girl."
If you were genetically engineered not to get sick, it certainly did not feel like it.
In his presence, it felt as though your breath had got caught in your chest and in spite of the regulated air pressure circulating through the ship, you couldn’t help but feel the air around you both had become almost electric. Dizzying in an almost familiar sort of way.
"–My name is Druig," the young man said, grasping your hand in his.
Smoothly, he pressed his mouth against your pulse, lips curled into a small, disarmingly warm, smile as he lifted his head.
"It's so lovely to meet you."
––The third and most encompassing thought you had on The Domo the day, was of him.
Druig.
Tumblr media
In addition to celestial energy and your natural athleticism, the gift of precognition was perhaps your greatest asset in battle, one that often put you on par with Makkari.
Where she could outmanoeuvre herself out of any situation with her speed, your foresight gave the team the upper-hand to strike Deviant nests before the creatures would even decide to attack first.
Ironically, it seemed that for all you could see the future, seIdom could you recall the past.
You could not remember whether or not you had kin waiting for you back at Olympia, or if there was a special someone waiting for your return.
Instead, where you imagined the comforting embrace of a mother you had come to picture Ajak, with her kind eyes, soft touch and motherly affection. She had guided you many times, had offered you redolent views and insights so you could learn to understand the world around you.
When you thought of the proud smiles of the great Gilgamesh and mighty Thena after an intense training session, you thought of how mortals considered the kin before them and found yourself honored you had your very own Uncle and Aunt to learn from.
And when you thought of the rest–of Sersi and Ikaris, side-by-side and in their own little world; of Sprite and Kingo, often causing mischief amongst the mortals; and Phastos and Makkari, always sating their burning curiosity–you thought of how too few mortals could say they had this many siblings, and how colorless your mission would've been without them.
Of course, at the centre of what was slowly becoming your universe, was Druig.
From the very first time you had met, there was something about the brooding-Eternal that endeared him to you, and supposedly, you to him.
After your initial introduction he had become a constant presence in your life, always seeking you out in the quiet corners of The Domo, to moments of reprieve between battle and chaos. Teasing. Touching. Always falling back into orbit as though you were twin stars, destined to gravitate towards the other.
Beneath changing skies and through the rise and fall of multiple civilisations, falling in love with him felt like the most natural thing in the world.
In fact at times, it almost felt as though in some past life, you’d already loved him befor–
The sky was red, your skin feverish. Still, you tugged at him him, mapping each crevice and plane you’d explored many times before as he did the same.
Desperation made your touch ardent, made his lips linger on the crown of your head even when the contact burned.
“I’ll find you again, [Y/N]” he’d said fiercely, teeth red as blood dribbled down to his chin.
“I’ll find you,” he said more quietly, almost to himself as he settled around you. Your final refuge.
The ground shook again. The dirt splintered with a boom.
Distantly, you thought of Makkari–of how she’d always been quiet–and hoped that she’d manage to outrun it all before you peered up.
Sprite had stopped screaming; Sersi had only started.
The end of the world grew too loud, the chaos turned to white noise but oddly enough you could still hear him.
Druig.
Maybe it was because he was right in front of you, or maybe it’s because you’d always been attuned to his frequency, but as you zeroed in on his laboured breathing, you couldn’t help but rasp:
"And I, yo–
–Beautiful, beautiful, [Y/N], you’re missing the festivities,” his ochre voice said, breaking you out of your reverie as a maelstrom of emotions flooded you.
Maybe I’m ill, you thought, reeling.
Druig had come up behind you, wrapping broad arms around your frame as he nuzzled his face into the curve of your neck.
You could practically feel his sly smile against your skin.
His touch burned.
“Do we bore you that much that you’d rather return to your paints than me, oh great [pseudonym]?"
Shaking yourself from your daze, you lifted your gaze to meet his, swallowing the unease that had lodged itself at the base of your throat with a small smile.
“You could never bore me,” you said immediately, forcefully rolling your eyes as to quell whatever thundered in your chest.
What you had seen, it couldn’t have been the future.
Half-heartedly, you placed the paint brush you’d been holding back with the rest, turning fully to fold yourself properly into his embrace.
Druig, ever attentive, must’ve felt the tension in your frame and sensed the trouble plaguing your mind because gently, he pressed his lips to your head.
It was his way of grounding you, you knew, his way of comforting you when words failed him.
“I know,” he hummed after a moment, brushing his fingers along the curve of your back.
His touch, this time, tingled pleasantly.
“Let’s get back to the others then, shall we?” he continued, unwinding his arms as to hold out a hand.
You knew he wanted to ask what had happened, knew he wanted you to lay your burdens bare before him.
But Druig was Druig, and while he was often snarky, he was not unkind.
This was not the first time you had seen something unpleasant, something horrifying.
You would talk, later, when the festivities had ended and you could confess what you’d seen between fine sheets and in the comfort of your room.
But for now, all you wanted to do was forget what you’d seen. And because Druig loved you, he’d make it happen.
“Kingo’s promised a woman you’ll sculpt a statue in her like,” he baited, almost slyly. It was a no-doubt way to do exactly as you wanted.
Fondness swelled in your chest at his meddling and at him, and laughing, you slotted your hand within his.
Tumblr media
On papyrus paper the size of a crate of wine, you had painted a red sky. A burning field. Two people, lost in the flames, at the very centre of it all.
And further,
                  further,
                             further in the back–
a hand emerging from the Earth.

Love, Jack
Benstos | Rated G | 2.7k
Written for the Benstos Valentine’s Day Bingo 2023 hosted by @benstos
Prompt: homemade gift and music
This is my first time writing again in over a year and it was very much a rush job. I wanted to get something out today though, and all my other wips are miles away from being done so here’s some family fun for V-day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Snippet:
Kingo proved himself less and less useful everyday (according to Sersi) when he expressed countless grievances with his editing abilities. Eventually he admitted defeat and suggested they outsource an editor.
Sprite has been added to the chat.
Together, Jack, Kingo, Karun,Sersi and Sprite put together what Jack hoped would be the perfect gift – and it was now loaded up on his computer, which was linked to the TV; and as it played he watched for his dads’ reactions.

I Get a Sugar Rush Whenever I'm With You - Chapter 6.2
Happy Friday fellow Drukkari stans, or whatever day it is for you! I come bearing the next mini-chapter! If you missed any prior installments, you can find all of them on my new table of contents here. Previously, Druig and Makkari got to have an extra fluffy baking session, but can the sweetness last? Find out now in the next installment of Drukkari in the Great British Bake Off!
Tumblr media
Druig was riding high into the weekend, even if he’d been dreading this particular week since he’d found out what it was. He’d never been much for dieting, as he didn’t see the point of limiting what he ate if he didn’t have to, so an entire week based around cutting out certain ingredients seemed rather daunting. Nevertheless, he’d been in a noticeably better mood ever since his afternoon with Makkari. She hadn’t stayed too long after they finished baking (and eating half the éclairs they’d just made). She’d helped him clean up a bit, packed up the rest of the éclairs, and given him a hug goodbye. He wouldn’t quite call it a date. They were just two friends baking and hanging out. In secret. Even so, he’d enjoyed it immensely, and it seemed like Makkari had as well.
They greeted each other as usual outside the hotel, and Druig couldn’t say for sure, but it felt like something in the air had changed between them. Standing with their friends, it felt like Makkari stayed closer to him than usual. That said, she always stood close enough to bump shoulders with him or reach over and punch his arm if he provoked such a response. Today, however, Makkari didn’t do either of those things. She just stood by him, occasionally chiming into the conversation, and while she didn’t turn her head, Druig thought he’d seen her glancing at him from the corner of her eye, a smile playing at her lips. It was a wonder she could keep up with the conversation at all, as he’d stopped listening almost as soon as he noticed her looking. When he finally tuned back into the group, he saw Ajak eyeing them, one eyebrow beginning to rise. Druig looked away as calmly and casually as he could.
Like he had during weeks prior, Druig held onto that happy feeling as the day progressed. The first challenge wasn’t too bad, but it definitely could’ve gone better. Now that he’d made ice cream during a technical, making it during a signature didn’t seem quite as stressful, even if it was dairy-free. That said, he’d also chosen a more basic flavor profile, making things slightly easier for himself. He’d gone with almond milk vanilla ice cream, dipped in chocolate with a hint of chili. The judges found it simple but effective, though Arishem had also added that he found it a bit underwhelming after last week’s performance. It certainly wasn’t his most glowing review, but Druig found that his wasn’t the opinion he most cared about.
The good thing about the chocolate dip was that he’d been able to save one for Makkari, much to her delight. She happily ate it, remarking, Sorry, I wish I could’ve save one of mine for you.
While Druig was quite curious about hers (Makkari had made mango ice cream topped with chili powder), he’d only replied, Guess you’ll just have to make it again for me sometime.
She gave him an amused look, but before she could respond, Kingo came trotting over, Phastos trudging along behind him.
“It’s days like this that I’m glad I don’t have to do the baking anymore,” Kingo said.
“Spoken like someone who doesn’t have a lactose intolerant child with a sweet tooth,” Phastos replied. Despite being a busy engineer, husband, and father, he’d picked up BSL quite quickly and had already started signing along where he could.
You really don’t miss competing? Makkari asked Kingo.
“I mean, I do. It was a really great experience, but sometimes, it really is more fun to just watch,” Kingo responded.
“No offense, Kingo, but the behind-the-scenes stuff seems to suit you better than being in front of the camera,” Druig added. Kingo’s mouth fell open at the remark.
“Was that an actual back-handed compliment?” he asked.
“You’re actually touched by that?” Phastos asked, visibly confused.
“I’m pretty sure that’s as close as Druig’s ever gotten to complimenting me, so I’ll take it,” Kingo explained matter-of-factly.
“Who’s handing out compliments?” Sersi called over as she and Ajak approached the table.
“Druig said I was doing a good job!” Kingo answered excitedly.
“I also said you weren’t good in front of a camera,” Druig corrected.
“Well, that makes more sense,” Sersi said as she sat down.
“At least he said something nice,” Ajak added. “It’s good to change things up sometimes. Although, I don’t think I’ll be making dairy-free ice cream again any time soon.”
A few of them groaned in agreement (including Kingo, though Makkari threw a crouton at him in retaliation, much to Druig’s amusement). Ajak hadn’t gone for anything too complicated, but her chocolate ice cream hadn’t quite set, making for quite the mess when it came time for judgment. The others had done alright, but Druig could sense that none of them were looking forward to the next two challenges.
One person who hadn’t struggled at all, however, was Sprite, whose avocado ice cream had only garnered praise. As she and Gilgamesh neared the table, completing the party, they started applauding. She paused to roll her eyes but gave them a playful bow before she took her seat and accepted the onslaught of compliments.
“Well, I did have the advantage. I’ve been vegan since I was 12,” Sprite said.
“So last month?” Gilgamesh teased, which earned him a few chuckles, but Sprite was not amused.
“I’m sure you get this all the time, but one day, you’ll be glad you look young for your age,” Ajak tried to reassure.
“You’re right, I do get that all the time,” Sprite replied wryly.
If you do well on the technical, do you think your mom will let you come to dinner with us? Makkari asked.
“Tell her we may seem like grown-ups, but we’re really just a bunch of oversized kids,” Gilgamesh added. “And we promise not to be bad influences!”
“Oh, I don’t actually need her permission. I just didn’t want to hang out with a bunch of adults twice my age and above,” Sprite replied, grinning snarkily. Several members of the group voiced their discontent at this statement, but she cut them off, saying, “I’m kidding! I already asked her, and she said I could make an appearance.”
“What about you, Phastos?” Ajak asked.
“We’ll see. Jack likes me to Facetime him before he goes to bed,” Phastos explained.
One of these days, we’ll get you to dinner, Makkari signed, a playful look in her eye.
“Assuming I make it through this week!” he lamented. No matter how well he did, Phastos always seemed to think he was one mistake away from elimination.
“Well, considering you got Arishem to enjoy peanut butter ice cream, I’d say you make it to next week,” Druig interjected.
“Again, with the almost compliments!” Kingo remarked. “Next thing you know, he’ll start being nice to people not named Makkari!”
This time, Makkari handed Druig the crouton. It hit Kingo right in the forehead, drawing plenty of laughter from most of the table, a light scolding from Ajak, and another eye-roll from Sprite as she muttered something about being more mature than most of her fellow competitors.
-
I may not agree with her actions, but as someone who's always looked young for their age, I can relate to Sprite 😆 Likes, comments, and re-blogs would be much appreciated!

“BABE ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?” Asked Kingo while turning around in bed so he could look at you. “Yeah of course.” You mumbled while your eyes stayed fixated on the screen of your laptop.
“You are a bad liar.” Kingo huffed while rolling his eyes. “I’m sorry baby i just really want to finish this piece for tonight.” You sighed while pointing at a school project you were currently working on.
“But i miss you.” Kingo spoke softly while grabbing your hand in his, kissing your knuckles. “I know Kingo. I miss you too. But i really have to finish this for tonight. I’m sorry sweetheart.” You said while looking into Kingo’s beautiful brown eyes.
“Sure whatever.” Kingo huffed while rolling his eyes at you before turning away from you so he could get out of bed.
“Kingo please…” You sighed while watching how your boyfriend of one year, put on a hoodie and a pair of sweatpants.
“No it’s fine. Just finish your stupid school project, i’ll be in the living room for when you are done.” Kingo said before storming out of the room.
“Well that went great.” You muttered to yourself while hiding your face in your hands, thinking about the whole situation.
Tumblr media
“Hi baby.” You spoke softly while entering the living room. Kingo immediately paused the tv show he was watching and turned around to see you standing in the doorframe while wearing one of his big t-shirts.
“Hey.” Kingo smiled while staring at you. “I’m sorry for earlier. I really am. I put to much time in my school project that i forgot about my sweet boyfriend.” You said quietly while looking down at your hands.
Kingo couldn’t help but smile at how adorable you looked right now. He couldn’t stay mad at you. Look at you! You are way to adorable to stay mad at.
“Come here.” Kingo smiled while patting the spot next to him on the couch. You quickly made your way over to the couch and sat down next to your boyfriend.
“Are you mad?” You asked quietly. Kingo chuckled while shaking his head. “How could i ever be mad at you sweetheart?” He smiled while placing a loving kiss on your nose.
“I am sorry for walking away this morning. I just missed you, that’s all.” Kingo said while looking down at his hands.
“I missed you too Kingo.” You smiled before Kingo pulled you into his chest, making you both laugh.
“Do you want to watch a movie or something? I just finished my school assignment so…”
Kingo’s lips immediately curled up in a smirk once he realized what the two of you could be doing.
“I have something in mind that we could do?” Kingo smiled mischievously while you playfully rolled your eyes.
“Really Kingo?” You asked while shaking your head slightly. “Please baby. Please.” Kingo begged while placing sweet kisses all over your face.
“Alright alright fine!” You laughed while Kingo pulled you into his lap. “I love you so much did you know that?” Kingo asked you while placing his hands on your soft thighs.
“I love you too Kingo. More than anything in the world.” You smiled while leaning in to kiss Kingo.

Eternals incorrect quotes part 2
Kingo: That was a joke. Say “ha”
Sprite: Ha.
Kingo: Now say it again.
Sprite: Ha.
Kingo: Congratulations, you’re officially the life of the party.
Kingo: What goes up but doesn’t go down?
Phastos: The amount of stress you bring this family.
Gilgamesh: …Should I ask why you’re covered in blood?
Thena: No, and the better question would be “Who’s blood is this-”
Gilgamesh: What are you in the mood for?
Thena: World domination.
Gilgamesh: That’s a bit ambitious.
Thena: You are my world.
Gilgamesh: Aww…
Thena: …
Gilgamesh: …
Thena: …
Gilgamesh: OH-
Kingo: I have an idea.
Ikaris: A good idea?
Kingo: Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Kingo: Thena you can’t move in with Gilgamesh.
Thena: Why not?
Kingo: Well, um, how are you going to feel when he sees you without any makeup?
Thena: I’m not wearing makeup right now.
Kingo: Holy crap, you’re beautiful.
Everyone: You're alive.
Ikaris: There's no need to sound so disappointed.
Kingo: So what, now I’m just supposed to do everything that Thena does? What if she jumps off a cliff?
Druig: If Thena were to jump off a cliff, she would have done her due diligence regarding the height of the cliff, the depth of the water, and the angle of entry. So yes, if you see Thena jump off a cliff, by all means, jump off a cliff.
Kingo: You jump off a cliff.
Druig: Gladly, provided Thena did first.
Kingo: Now, if I may speak for good-looking people everywhere...
Sprite: Only as their rodeo clown.
Sersi: What makes you all smile?
Gilgamesh: Friends and Family.
Druig: Snacks.
Ikaris: Victory and success.
Thena: Face muscles.
Ajak: Damn, the power went out.
Kingo: Don’t worry, I got this.
Kingo: *shakes rapidly and starts to light up*
Ajak: What-?
Kingo: I swallowed a glow stick!
Ajak, on the verge of tears: WHY WOULD YOU-
Phastos, texting: O
Kingo: What?
Phastos: Don’t read into that.
Kingo: But I will read into that.
Phastos: HOW?! IT’S A LETTER!
Kingo: Why is there a space after it, hmmmmm?
Phastos: Dude, really?
Phastos: It’s a fucking letter.
Kingo: It could stand for something!
Phastos: IT DOESN’T, I PROMISE!
Kingo: Like Oppression! Or worse…
Phastos: Dude, I just typed the letter O, that means nothing. :/
Kingo: Optometrist.
Phastos: Oh my God…
Ikaris: You are the love of my life and I would do anything within reason to make you happy.
Sersi: I would be happy if you ate, stayed hydrated and got a reasonable amount of sleep.
Ikaris: I said within reason, Sersi. How about I murder that guy?
Sersi: So murder is in reason but proper self care isn't?
Ikaris: Well, duh. What kind of question is that?
*playing twister*
Kingo: Right hand red.
Makkari: *ends up on top of Druig*
Druig: You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?
Kingo: I stopped spinning like 15 minutes ago. Honestly, I'm surprised you didn't notice.
Sersi: What do you have?
Sprite: A KNIFE!
Sersi: NO!
Kingo: So... who's the big spoon and who's the little spoon?
Makkari: We're chopsticks!
Kingo: Well... that's cute!
Kingo: Does that mean you two snuggle together perfectly?
Druig: No, it means that if you take the other away, the only thing the other is good for is stabbing.
Sersi: Why aren't there friend pick up lines? Pick up lines to make friends like-
Sersi, to Ajak: Hey, that's a cute outfit. You know where it would look better? On nobody else, because you're a beautiful individual.
Makkari, to Druig: Be my friend or I'll set your entire family on fire.
Gilgamesh: There are two types of people.
Sprite: *fast-forwards all the way through the movie*
Kingo: You can't just skip to the happy ending!
Sprite: I don't have time for their problems.
Teacher: Your child was in a fight.
Gilgamesh: Again?
Thena: Did they win?
or
Teacher: Your child was in a fight.
Makkari: I need to talk to them about that…
Druig: Did they win?
Sersi: What situation is not instantly improved by the addition of fishnets, I ask you.
Druig: Being a fish.
Sersi: Well, shit.
Phastos: How long do you think it'll take?
Druig: I don’t know, three or four.
Phastos: Three or four what? Days? Weeks? Months?
Makkari, agreeing with Druig: Yeah, maybe five.
Phastos: Five what?!
Druig: Makkari, get that hidious thing out of the living room, would you?
Makkari: Ikaris, Druig wants you to get out of the house.
Thena: Kingo, we tried things your way.
Kingo: No, we didn't.
Thena: I did it in my head and it didn't work.
Ajak: Uptown Funk would've made it into the Shrek Soundtrack.
Kingo: That's the truest statement I've ever heard.

nav // marvel m.list // series m.list // ko-fi ✧.* word count: 4.7k ✧.* warnings: suicide, suggestive themes NSFW ✧.* genre: NSFW // fluff with angst (future fluff)
Druig knew his time with you would be short, if only he knew just how short it was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite his more reclusive manner, Druig fancies himself a little bit of entertainment with the humans from time to time. He enjoys watching parties, albeit, from a distance, instead of partaking in them like his fellow Eternals, Sersi, Sprite, and Kingo seem to love. Instead, he prefers to watch the humans from afar as they converse.
Though he does not show it, as time goes, he grew to care for the humans around him. Their complex feelings and thoughts, not to mention their tenacity, determination, and fearlessness, stuck out to him. Unlike him and his friends, the humans weren’t immortal. They didn’t possess the powers he and his fellow Eternals indulge on. They simple had their intelligence to differentiate them from Earth’s other species.
And yet, despite all that, they were able to grow more intelligent by the day. They still strive to wake up the next morning even if they know it may just be their last. They aren’t afraid to live.
In the centre of it all was a dancer.
Druig has watched you from afar for quite some time now, a dancer whose compassion knows no bounds. Babylon wasn’t a big city after all, he could watch you from afar without you knowing for a while. Even if that statement did sound rather creepy. He reasons that he’s just trying to make sure you stay safe.
You were one of those humans that seemed to possess more compassion and kindness in your heart than the rest of your peers.
Your tenderness seems to reach out to all manner of life forms too.
Whether that were plants or animals, you treated them with the amount of dignity and respect he never thought was possible in a human. While you were an odd fellow, sometimes slinking out of crowds to no one knows where. Only reappearing a few hours later with a more jovial smile. Druig still seems to be completely enamoured by you.
“Tending to your plants again, are you?” He spoke in Babylonian when he ‘accidentally’ bumps into you.
You were balancing two pots of rather large plants on both hands when you bumped into the Eternal. Almost dropping the two objects if not for Druig, who quickly steadied you and caught one of the pots about to slip from your grasp. He took it from your hands as you thanked him and apologized for not being careful enough. He only smiled and walked with you towards your destination, holding the pot in his hands.
“I simply thought that my garden was lacking in a variety of plants, and spring is to come, so I thought today was a good time to buy more.” You shrugged as you walked side by side with him towards your home.
The pot in your hand was rather heavy, so Druig, ever the gentleman, opened the door for you as you both made your way behind your home to your garden.
“This isn’t diverse enough for you?” He teased you while you placed the potted plant down and took the one in his hands. “There is always room for more plants.”
Druig simply smiled as he watched you take out the plants from their pots and mutter something under your breath before planting them in the ground of your garden. For a moment, he took his time to look around your garden. As a dancer, you didn’t receive much money, well you did, but not enough to allow you to be able to buy a home with a garden as large as this. But as he remembered, this home was gifted to you by another person whose life you had saved.
He was sure to add that to the list of odd things about you. Not only did you constantly mutter something underneath your breath, something even he can’t hear. You also seem to always be around when chaos unfolds. Putting you right in the middle of death. Yet, you always come out of it alive, not unscathed, but alive, and with another life with you.
In every accident that seemed to happen when someone’s life was in danger, you would be able to rescue their life. Of course, this didn’t happen every single time, you didn’t have powers like him or any of the other Eternals, but you saved enough lives for it to be noticeable.
Like the time a building collapsed and you somehow were ablet o pull a child form under the building right before the collision. Druig remembered how much he cursed at himself that night when he saw you with battered and bruised. After you had shielded some of the heavy debris with your body to protect the child.
He thought that he should’ve been the one there, hypnotise the child to run away or do something. Not you, the human who was much more fragile than he was.
Or the other time where a Deviant somehow made its way into the city walls and started destroying the surrounding area. A few lives were lost that day, but more were saved by him and the others. You were there as well, pulling people back from the monster’s jaws, slinking away when the monster’s claws were mere centimetres away from you.
That night you suffered a few broken bones and could not dance for a few months. Months Druig spent with you so you don’t suffer from the most terrible thing in the world.
Boredom.
“Are you going to keep standing there, watching me do all the hard work or ar you going to help me by getting that watering can beside you?” Druig was quickly cut off from his train of thoughts when your voice reached his ears.
He straightened himself from where he was leaning on and chuckled. Grabbing the watering can beside him and giving it over to you. After offering him a small thanks, you spoke again.
“You know,” you paused, “I’ve been noticing something strange lately.” Druig felt like he knew where this was going, yet he still entertained it, leaning back to the wall and crossing his arms in front of his chest as he smirked. “Really? What could that be?”
You laughed as you wiped the dirt off your fingers; before standing up to look at the Eternal in front of you. You weren’t an idiot. You knew of his advances towards you. Despite this, you knew better than to fall in love with him. And yet, your heart still yearns for his touch and his lips on yours.
“There’s this man, who keeps following me around. He thinks I cannot tell, but, you see, I can always tell when his eyes are on me.” You poke as Druig hummed, feigning confusing with a quirk of his rows. “He’s a very curious man. He has these odd powers that make him truly magnificent. The people would praise him like God.” You paused as you whispered the last part, “But I think he’s a thief.”
That made Druig truly surprised. A thief? Him? Maybe Makkari. But him? “A thief you say? What makes you say that about this man?” It was then you walked closer to him.
Mere centimetres away from the man plaguing your dreams for months now. You thought.
May the Gods forgive me.
And let yourself fall in love.
Something you may regret in a couple of days.
“Because he has stolen my heart.” At that moment, you closed the distance between you and him. Placing your lips on his as he chuckled, he saw it coming; of course, he was just waiting to see when it’ll happen.
Not caring about the light dirt that still coated your clothes and hands, he placed one of his hands on your waist and pulled you closer to him. Flushing both your bodies together as his lips greedily took in yours. Like you, he may regret doing something like this in the years to come. But right now? With one of his hands on the small of your back and the other behind your head, deepening the kiss. He couldn’t care less.
He’ll deal with the consequences later.
If only he knew how soon those consequences would come.
Needing air, you pulled yourself away from him. Placing both your hands on his chest as you looked up at Druig with shining eyes. Usually, he’d make an offhanded comment on how you were making a mess of his clothes with your dirty hands. But now, all he did was softy caress your cheek with his hand, the other making mindless patterns on your back.
Druig had never felt o at peace before in his long life. And maybe it was a curse to him that he felt this way towards a human, destined to die long before he even starts to age. If ageing was even possible for an Eternal such as himself. But he couldn’t help it.
Yes, your kindness, compassion, and humility made him first feel entranced by you. Few humans were willing to put their lives on the line to save a stranger. But you weren’t the only human that wasn’t heartless; you weren’t notable in that regard.
So, it was your personality, grace, imperfections, love for plants and animals, and surprisingly green thumb that made your plants thrive even in the coldest of winters that made him fall so desperately in love with you. Yes, it was in the way you carried yourself, in the way you spoke, in the way you moved, in the way you, to simply state it, exist.
Druig has always been enamoured by humans’ ability to take their little time and make it worthwhile. But with you, that seemed to have doubled.
As if you knew every second you lived had to be cherished and loved.
That was the thing he loved most about you.
Call him a fool if you must. Because he was a fool, a fool in love.
You giggled softly when your gaze broke form his overly intense ones before pulling away and patted his chest lightly. Turning around to tend to a particular rare flower, Druig smiled. He watched the way your hands softly glazed over its white petals. He remembered that flower. He gave it to you as an apology a year ago.
“I didn’t think anyone could render you speechless.” You teased with your back facing him.
Druig stayed silent as a mischievous smirk crept up onto his features. As you started to check the leaves of a different plant that he, for the life of him, could not remember the name of, his arms wrapped around your body from behind. Pulling you flush against his chest as he leaned his cheek against yours.
You started laughing when his nimble fingers began tickling your sides.
“Druig!” you yelled as a warning. “Stop!!!” you yelled again between your laughter.
“You want me to stop, beautiful?” he stopped for a moment; letting you finally breathe as you giggled and leaned into his muscled torso. “Yes. Thank you.” You breathlessly mutter.
Druig didn’t let you go though, he kept his hands on the front of your body, swaying side to side. Before whispering in your ear, “No.”
Followed by his fingers immediately tickling you once again. This time it had completely caught you off guard and your wretched instincts, decided to kick in. Your elbow, all of the sudden, hit him straight to his gut. Druig stuttered back as he watched you quickly turn around, both your hands closing your mouth as regret and fear rushed over you.
He would chuckled if it didn’t cause some pain to flicked in his gut.
“You’re stronger than you look.” He spoke as he doubled over. “Gods! I’m sorry, I warned you!”
You tried to keep a light air with your jokes, still, Druig saw how panicked you looked. It confused him slightly. Whilst you were stroner than Druig could ever expect, he had seen how nimble and strong you could be when you pulled or pushed people out of the way from oncoming danger. Your reaction, wide eyes filled with shock and fear, was the curious thing.
Though just as quickly as the pain came, it went. His main priority was now ensuring that you didn’t hurt him. He let a careless smile make its way to his face as he moves towards you. Placing his hands on your cheeks, he chuckled, “I’m alright, my love.”
Those two words felt so natural on his tongue. As if he was meant to call you his love all his life. And hearing those words, he could see your eyes sparkle for a moment. Only for it to suddenly disappear as your brows furrowed. As if you had heard or seen something displeasing to you.
Druig was just about to ask what was wrong, but you quickly shook your head and turned to look back at him. Smiling widely now. All before your lips touched his. This time, with an edge of hurriedness to it.
Druig smiled into the kiss as your hands begun roaming from his chest to his back, pulling him closer to you as the two of you made your way towards the bedroom. Months and months of pining and push and pull between the two of you seemed to have finally reached its peak.
This time, he was the one who pulled back. “I thought you had dance practice for your performance in a couple of days?” he mischievously asked as you shrugged. “I don’t think they’ll mind if I miss a day.”
You smirked as Druig’s hands begun edging the lines of your tunic and pants, “Hm, I don’t think they will.” Was all he said.
That night, Druig spent in the comfort of your touch, of your skin, of your soft voice. Of pleasure and thrill. Your hands roaming his skin, his hands roaming yours. He didn’t know if Heaven existed, or if it was something humans created. But whatever it was, he was sure it felt like this.
Your body against his as you gripped the sheets under you, his groans in your ears as pleasure flowed through his entire being. It truly felt like Heaven.
He wished he could make you see the stars and make you feel the way he does every single day, but alas, your life was fleeting. What he could do was take use of what time he did have.
If only he knew how little that time truly was.
~
A few days later, as night took over, festivities ran high.
Druig went into the city’s centre late into the party, knowing he didn’t really have a reason to surround himself with drunken mortals until a few moments before your performance. The moment he did step into the great hall, he could already see Sprite telling stories of battles and the endless glories of Eternals and humans alike, using her apparitions.
Kingo was dancing with some other drunken men and women, laughing alongside them as they tripped over one another. He could see Ikaris and Sersi conversing in one of the far corners of the room. The two of them had bright smiles on their faces as they chuckled and laughed at what the other must’ve said.
Druig wasn’t usually a jealous person, but he did occasionally get jealous. He was jealous of seeing the two of them. It would take an idiot not to see they were softly falling in love with one another. And unlike him, their love could blossom and grow in the thousands of years they’ll live through. Whilst his love would have to wilt and die the moment you closed your eyes.
Something that’ll come sooner than he thought.
He shook his head, ridding himself of those macabre thoughts. Perhaps he should take a leaf out of the humans’ book and cherished what short life they had. Mortality was never a thing he had to face until he fell head over heels for you.
In the corner of his eye, he could see Ajak watching him. Well, she was always watching everyone form afar. Her motherly tendencies and instinct never seem to halt even in the festive environment. Thena, Gilgamesh, and Phastos were talking to some other humans on one of the tables. Well, it was more like Phastos talking and the rest listening. Though seeing from Gilgamesh’s rather bored expression, he was looking for a chance to leave the conversation.
The only Eternal he didn’t see was Makkari.
But he didn’t think too much of that. Makkari had always been the Eternal with a penchant for mischief, with him in close second. She was probably out exploring some part of the city none of them could get to or stealing something that interested her whilst the people partied.
Suddenly, the music dulled, the drums people were playing silenced, and that had been the moment he’d been waiting for. Druig slinked back to the part of the hall where not many could see him, despite him being able to clearly see the middle of the hall where everyone had parted away.
Slowly, a different tune started to play. One made of more melody than that of the festive drums of before. One that had a beat, a rhythm, and a tune. From the entrance of the hall came a slew of dancers. They all dressed in the same beautiful clothing that matched the interior of the hall. With their talents and grace, everyone loved them.
Despite their similar way of clothing themselves, Druig’s eyes easily landed on yours. The two of you made eye contact for a while when you went in, he grinned when you bashfully broke your gaze.
As you moved your body across the ground with grace and agility. He couldn’t look away. Enamoured and entranced by your elegance. He let his lips tweak up to a very rare soft smile. One he immediately retreated when he suddenly felt someone tap his shoulder, right in time for the song to finish and the dancers to take their leave after basking in the loud cheers of the audience.
When Druig looked to his side, he groaned in displeasure. Staring up at him was the mischievous grin of a certain Eternal that he couldn’t locate earlier that night. Makkari.
She grinned widely at him.
“What?” he signed as well as spoke. It wasn’t like the people around him could understand his language either way. Makkari only laughed loudly as a response, “I see your eyes was stuck on a particular dancer.” She teased. “I also see the way you follow her around like a creep.”
She laughed once she finished signing that last part of her statement. Druig cocked his head to the side. Was it that obvious? As if she could sense his thoughts, Makkari quickly signed.
“It isn’t that obvious, don’t worry too much, but I do like watching the people here and I,” she paused, “I see the way she looks at you. Are you going to do anything about it?” She queried.
Makkari had no way of knowing that Druig had already done something about it. The only question in his mind was, what now? He wanted to pursue you more; you didn’t have much time left in your life.
Although right now Babylon was at peace, that didn’t mean the human lifespan now was very long. As far as he knew, the average age where human women died were around their 40s, you were just about to reach 30 this year. You only had so long left.
He should do something about it.
Cherish the years you have left with him. But would it be worth the heartbreak after? And did you even want this? You could’ve wanted to just love someone that would die with you. He could read your mind to ifnd out the answers to his questions, but he had sworn to you once this friendship bloomed to never do that. And he’d rather die than betray your trust in him.
“You should do something about it.” Makkari signed before smiling at her friend and leaving him to lament on her words.
It was at that point that Druig realized something.
He didn’t care how long he had with you. He knew you loved him; if you didn’t you wouldn’t have kissed him. So, whatever time he has left with you, he’d gladly spend it by your side.
After this realization, he immediately bolted out of the door to look for you. He didn’t know where you went, but an idea went into his head once he saw one of the dancers. Not caring to ask, he went into her mind and searched if she knew where you went. The answers that came to him puzzled him.
You had separated from the group early on after they had left the hall, and this particular dancer, whose mind he inhibits now, saw you making your way to the rooftop of the great structure that was the great hall.
For all his time watching you, he had never seen you even go there or allude to wanting to go there. It was a beautiful place to watch the stars and the city below, but it wasn’t somewhere he thought interested you.
With a puzzled mind, Druig made the ascend towards the rooftop of the great hall. When he reached the top, his heart dropped to the ground. There you were, standing extremely close to the edge. Watching the ground below you.
He hesitantly called out to you. When you gasped and almost lost balance of your footing, Druig swore he could feel his heart stop just for a second.
You slowly and carefully turned around, now facing him.
“What are you doing?” he spoke, hesitantly and slowly made his way towards you.
By the way your face scrunched up in a dilemma, you seemed to not know what to tell him.
“Step away from the edge my love, you’re going to get hurt.” He was now a few metres away from you. He had half a mind to just use his powers and get you out of danger, but he stopped himself.
When he took another step forward, you yelled at him. “Druig, please! Don’t- Don’t come any closer.”
That sudden fear in your voice caused him to stop immediately. What were you doing??? What was happening???
“I-” you could only stare at him with tears brimming the corner of your eyes, “Why do you have to make this so difficult for me?!” You screamed at him.
To be completely honest, Druig ddidn’t know what you were talking about. He hadn’t seen the signs; he hadn’t seen you seemingly wanting to hurt or kill yourself. But perhaps he was just blind to it, and for that, he hated himself.
He called out to you again, his voice bringing the tears in the corners of your eyes to fully pour out. You sobbed softly as Druig wracked his brain for something to say, anything at all.
How he wished he could just approach you, pull you from the edge and comfort you. He loathed seeing you cry. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t risk coming any closer to you in case that you decided to do the unfathomable.
“Why are you doing this?!” Was the only thing that came out.
You closed your eyes and shook your head violently to the side, whispering and muttering something under your breath. Something he couldn’t hear.
He’s had enough. He cherished your trust in him and he’d hate to break it. But he cared about you more. He couldn’t lose you. Not like this. Not when he had just realized how much love he could give you.
At a moment’s notice, he used his power against you, only to feel a sudden drawback, a terrible headache swirled his head. And you, didn’t move away from the edge. His powers. Didn’t work.
He called out to you again. This time, cautious and absolutely terrified.
The headache grew tenfold in size and pain as he tried, again and again, to force your body to move towards him. To get you to safety, to convince you that you didn’t need to do this. That whatever was pushing you to kill yourself at this moment was irrelevant and didn’t matter.
But it wouldn’t work.
Panic rose through his entire system. Something he didn’t feel very often. But at this moment, with the back of your feet at this point dangling dangerously on edge and his powers seemingly unaffecting you. Terror filled him.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered, “I wished we had more time.”
Druig’s legs moved before he could think; he practically ran towards you, desperate to do something instead of standing around. But it was too late by the time he was at arm’s distance towards you. You had leaned back. You had fallen from the building. You had ended your life.
There was a small thud when your body hit the ground, followed by hundreds of screams. The festivities stopped almost immediately. And so did he.
He stayed silent, processing what had just happened. In the end, when he realized this wasn’t just a sick and twisted dream being played on him, he dropped to his knees.
Druig stared at where you had just stood minutes ago, before you took your own life. In his mind, he berated himself for not being able to do something about it. The fact that your mind was immune to his powers was the least of his concerns at this moment.
He could hear Makkari run through the stairs leading up to the rooftop. She stood in shock at the top of the staircase, taking in the sight in front of her. Of Druig, the one Eternal that had never seemed to show any kind of weakness, suddenly on his knees, helplessly watching the spot where the woman he loved once stood.
When Makkari made her way towards her friend, she didn’t use her speed. She took her time for once. Walking towards Druig softly before coming down to her knees beside him as well.
Her right arm reached to his right shoulder, her left on his left, whilst her cheek leaned towards his left shoulder. Offering him a silent comfort, she leaned sideways towards him, embracing him in a side hug. He didn’t move, didn’t react.
He simple stared.
Oh, all of the things he would give to just see you once more. See your bright smile even when you had broken yet another bone from saving the life of a kitten who was just about to be hit by a horse. Hear your voice as you rambled about how someone was kind enough to give you a rare plant form their travels. Fell your lips against his own as the two of you chuckled in the privacy of your garden.
There were many things Druig, an Eternal, didn’t feel much compared to the humans around him. Life experience allowed him to do so. Mortality was a human attribute he never thought would look at him straight in his eyes.
He didn’t know how to feel, what to think, how to act.
Very time he had felt disturbed or helpless, like the times Ajak wouldn’t let him intervene as humans brawled one another, he reacted with anger. He didn’t like feeling sad. He preferred to be angry.
So that was what he did.
He shrugged Makkari’s touch away from him and abruptly stood up. Making his way towards the staircase, his shoulders shoving into Ikaris as the rest of the Eternals finally reached the top of the rooftop to see what happened. He didn’t care for the way Sersi or Ajak called out to him until Makkari stopped them.
He felt angry.
Resentful almost.
At himself for not being able to do anything.
At the world for making humans so damn fragile and mortal.
And finally.
At fate for making him fall so deeply in love with someone who he knew he had a limited time with. Only that he didn’t realize how truly limited that time was.
As he made his way outside the hall, he heard one of the dancers cry. “We were just about to celebrate her birthday. What could push her to do such a thing?!” She wailed into someone’s shoulder.
Oh, fate was truly cruel, wasn’t it?
Your birthday, and not only did he not know, he also had to witness your death on your fucking birthday.
How cruel the world was.

MIDNIGHT CITY (DruigxReader, The Eternals)
sitting in front of my laptop on google docs at 1130 pm turned into this little drabble coming to life! definitely going to have a part 2, i’d rather post smaller parts over a period of time than a giant lengthy fic at once. my first ever writing based on the eternals and i hope you all love it.
may or may not have written it up and not edited it. the world will never know
no warnings, just mention of slight fluff.
word count: 903
eventual druig x reader, gender neutral so everyone can enjoy.
part two
Tumblr media
You’d gone centuries without so much as a word of contact, and yet you found yourself laying in bed in your small apartment in the big city, your mind clouded with wonderings.
‘Where is he? What has he been up to all this time? Does he ever think of me like i’ve thought of him?’
The last time you’d seen him was in the ancient city of tenochtitlan, where he’d finally broken on his true feelings towards humans and their sufferings. His heart was in the right place, but his mind refused to accept why it was necessary. You remembered catching up to him, hugging him, the silence had been deafening in that moment. And then, it ended, and the group had disbanded.
It was painful being an Eternal. You were doomed to living centuries and outliving every mortal you came into contact with. You still held memories of those you’d encountered throughout the vast span of your life that were now long gone. The memories you held closest, however, were to your fellow Eternals- the family you had lost touch with. Despite the miles and continents you’d covered in your travels, never once did you catch so much of a glimpse of the ones you missed.
Especially him. Druig.
The bond you shared was deeper than the ones you held with the rest. At least you thought so, it was clear he didn’t hold the same regard. You never stopped looking. It seemed as though he never started.
The lights of the city cast a soft light through your window, pulling you from your somber thoughts. You saw the rise of civilization, of technology and of cities and towns. Your favorite place to be was in the big city, so full of life and so populated. You couldn’t stay long in any one place (people would eventually realize that as they grew older and went through the stages of aging, you stayed exactly the same) and your time here was wrapping up.
Your bed was pushed up against the window for the best view overlooking the bustling city. Skyscrapers twinkled in the distance with interior lights, neon signs of various establishments were hardly visible below, and the hum of sound closer to the ground floors of your building was like music to your ears. You were a city person through and through, and that was your next destination- same gist, just different place.
The books and notebooks scattered around your bed were pushed off to the side as you stretched out in bed. Better to get some sleep versus none, or at least try. You wished you had photos to remember everyone with, but they only existed in your mind. Closing your eyes, you eventually lulled yourself into a sleep.
xxx
“Should we wake them up? Youve seen how they are if you wake them up.”
Your eyes snapped open upon hearing someone speak, a man, rather close by as well. You’d fallen asleep and couldn’t have been down longer than a few hours when you stirred naturally, and before you could even fall asleep, you heard someone. And just like that, you were wide awake.
“We can’t wait around for them to get up, we have to find everyone else too, you know.”
Shooting up and looking around, your eyes adjusted in the darkness and your jaw nearly fell off from dropping so hard. There in the darkness were the ones you’d never stopped thinking about, a few of them at least.
Ikaris. Kingo. Sersi. Sprite. And a man with a camera in his hands, whoever he was. Nevermind to that.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty!” Kingo exclaimed. You could always count on him to lighten the mood; feeling as though the world was moving in slow motion, you clambered up from the bed and rushed to him, enveloping him in a hug as you felt your breathing quicken. He stood tense for a moment, caught off guard by the motion, but quickly wrapped his arms around you.
Pulling away, your vision blurred with tears as you looked up at him and then to everyone else. “I couldn’t find any of you,” you choked out, hurrying to hug the others as well. “I tried so hard, i swear to it..”
Sersi gave you a warm smile, next to Druig she was your second favorite.
Druig, who was absent, as well as Ajak, Phastos, Gilgamesh, Makkari and Thena.
The confusion on your face must have been apparent, as Sersi put her hand on your shoulder to tell you of Ajak’s death. You had crumpled to the floor and cried; had you known the last time you saw her would have been the last time, you’d have been more appreciative.
After that, everything seemed to meld together as you left your misshapen life behind to regroup. It seemed as though everything was falling into place as you reunited with everyone, though you felt shaken at the thought of seeing him again. You soaked up the time before you all made your way to the Amazon and to the small community of villagers. ‘Of course,’ you thought to yourself, ‘he’d have his own humans to protect.’
You were admiring the impressive scenery before you when the doors to the main compound opened. There he stood, the same as you remembered him in your memories. “I missed all of you. Please, make yourselves at home.”
