What were your first ships (one from before you knew what shipping was and one from after)?

Oohhh what a cool question! I guess Doctor Who is probably the earliest I remember shipping anyone (it was the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler, so 2006, when I was 14) although I had previously read some Green Day fanfiction when I was ~12. Those were the days! Once I knew more about shipping and had adapted to the world of fandom, I suppose my biggest ship was John and Sherlock from BBC Sherlock... from which I still have major PTSD. (Honestly, you had to be there. Yikes.) Thanks for your question!

My friend @vaticancameos221 posted her first Johnlock fic today! It is an updating work detailing John and Sherlock’s estrangement and Sherlock’s subsequent depression. You can read the first chapter here!

I helped beta this first chapter, and @vaticancameos221 wrote something incredible. Sometimes, I forgot I was supposed to be editing because it was so damn good. Multiple times, I had to stop to just internally freak out. It’s a beautiful story filled with drama, heartbreak, and possibilities. Everyone gives Sherlock Holmes a hard time about being mean about Watson's writing, but honestly imagine you told your roommate "sure, you can write up an account of my work for the newspaper," thinking it would be like, about the murder, but then he publishes it and it's 90% about you, as a person, and it's a huge hit and now everyone in London knows that you hoard newspapers and do cocoaine when you're depressed. Because I think you'd be little miffed too.

I always find it hilarious when more recent adaptations of Sherlock Holmes makes Holmes the dreamy heartthrob/attractive one (not that he’s not a total catch) because my dudes, Watson is right there. He is literally like a Victorian wet dream, he is everything that classic Victorian period would find appealing- adventurous, fought for his country, learned, has groomed facial hair (legit that was like the equivalent of being 6’ tall today), polite. He’s got just enough “melancholy” (depression) and rakishness (gambling) to still be a gentleman but like a bad boy gentleman. A real Romantic (both romance how we think of it today and like Romanticism) archetype. If anyone is the heartthrob here, it is Watson.
