So much BTS lore feels like fanfiction and I can't get over it

Two of the members hated each other at first. They argued a lot and one time, they threw folded clothes at each other and the member who folded them had to come scold them. And now they keep reminding everyone how long they've known each other for. They wrote a song together where they said that "respect is a higher tier than love" and then called each other "my respect."

The smartest member of the group (one the previous two morons btw) didn't know how to tie his shoelaces until highschool. He doesn't eat seafood because he loves crabs. He's a literal geniues and he's so clumsy and such a dork (and I relate so deeply). And that body, guys, I'm telling you. This whole guy was made by a fanfic author.

Their company was near bankrupcy when they debuted. One of the members, who was getting offers from so many other companies, joined this one because he admired another member who was already a part of it. When these two met for the first time, member two was only wearing underwear and member one said "wow, thighs."

Another member came to an audition, not to audition himself but to support a friend. He was the only person from that audition round to get in. The friend did not.

Another member, who was studying to be an actor, was street cast on a bus.

One of them lost confidence and tried to leave before the debut, but another convinced him to come back, because they "needed him."

The whole industry hated them when they debuted and now they're arguably the best kpop group worldwide. (Arguably, read: argue with the wall)

What we know now, after they have started MS

This is a short post, because life is a lot right now and i have very little emotional energy. But this felt important, so here I am.

Tonight I revisited an older post and realised I'd never completed the thought process i began there...

When Jimin released his solo album, FACE, I wrote this analysis post.

Part of that analysis talked about my impression of JK's backing vocals on Letter.

We had seen Jimin's Production Diary, and based on the clip of JK in the recording studio I thought he didn't know he would be asked to sing backing vocals.

Here's a screen grab of that post:

After watching the docuseries, BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star, we know that was correct...

It was a surprise to him when Jimin asked him.

In fact both aspects of that prediction were right, he didn't know about the song at all.

I have two questions:

Why would Jimin have kept the song a secret from JK?

And

Why wouldn't Jimin himself ask Jungkook to sing it? Why get PDogg to ask him? Jimin was RIGHT THERE.

Actually, make that three questions.

Why did Jimin scurry away as soon as JK asked to listen to the song?

Jimin earnestly said, "I made a fan song", while holding Jungkook's face in his hands.

That's such an intimate gesture, by the way. If my Best Friend held my face that way while they told me they'd done something, I'd take it to mean that the something was significant for/about me.

Jungkook asked to listen to the song, and Jimin... vanished. He retreated to the sofa to sit out of Jungkook's line of sight.

He's suddenly shy? Shy of Jungkook's reaction?? Wierd, but ok...

Unless the song is REALLY significant to JK....

In short, yes, it is REALLY significant. We already kinda guessed that right? But now, in light of their situation, it's more significant...

So, Jungkook recorded his part of the song.

Lets think about the lyrics...

Bear in mind this was written and recorded long before they had confirmation that their application for companion enlistment was successful...

These lyrics are even more significant in that context.

Plus

This is the part of the song that's in banmal. The switch from polite to familiar signals a change in the relationship, (I wrote about that in a previous post) and since Jimin always talks to ARMY politely, we can asume this part of the the song (at least) is directed at... someone else 👀

"We dont know what the future holds, don't worry I'll stay by your side."

Now consider that Jimin has written these words for not only himself to sing. He's asking Jungkook to sing them with him.

He's asking Jungkook to sing this love song with him.

With no hesitation, Jungkook says yes. He does the recording there and then.

And when JK is finished recording...

He tells Jimin that the song is really nice. Immediately, Jimin is a limpet. He's all over Junkgook like he's made of Velcro. A stark contrast to his earier behaviour when his vulnerability made him scurry away.

Jimin jokes that Junkgook should record a message for ARMY and Pdogg calls him out on that lie. Of course JK refuses. "It's your song." he tells Jimin.

Jimin is pushing his luck here, first asking JK to record a message, and then asking him to claim ownership (or share responsibility) for the song.

Jk has no trouble saying no to that.

It seems like more than a meaningless joke to me. One of those suggestions alone might be, but both? It left me wondering if Jimin suddenly felt scared that he was revealing too much with the song?

I'm kinda impressed that JK, for all his love and support, wasn't prepared to rescue Jimin from his choices. He simply, but gently, said no. It tells me a lot about their relationship.

It also tells me a lot about both JK's honestly and his belief in Jimin.

eta, I was tired and once my thought bubble popped i just hit 'post' and fell asleep. But it's exactly a year since Jimin released FACE and i think it's a pretty cool coincidence that i came back to this randomly on this day.

Jin

It's all very innocent to him and he just wants you to stop being dramatic about it. You're a bit nervous since you're in public and don't want people to think differently of you but he's your boyfriend for God's sake you can sit on his lap. So you just kind of perch on his knee until he pulls you onto him a bit further, forcing you to settle down and relax a bit before resting his chin on your shoulder, his hair tickling your ear. You close your eyes, leaning into his face, nuzzling it slightly before turning round to peck him, your lips brushing his cheek softly.

Yoongi

In this scenario he's the nervous one. He knows when you leave his friends will tease him for being so utterly whipped for you, they already were going to with the way he looks at you. But finally you're cuddled into his side on his lap, right where you should be and you feel his hand sneak to hold yours. You feel the soft pads of his thumbs slowly caressing the back of your hands and you offer him a sweet smile, moving to kiss his cheek, making him blush. He's trying to desperately hard to concentrate on the conversation but he can't help but want it to be just you and him cuddled up together.

J-hope

When you realise that all the seats are taken the solution is relatively obvious. Like, your boyfriend's lap is right there. So, when you settle down into the gap between Hoseok's spread legs you take it upon yourself to get comfortable. Your back leans against his muscular chest allowing you to smell his cologne and occasionally tilt your head back just enough to smile at him. When you do you notice that he's already looking down at you, grinning at you, before his hands find your hair carding their way through the strands. You sigh into his touch, the soft massaging of your scalp nearly sending you to sleep.

Namjoon

Everyone is used to it at this point. You opt for his lap over a chair constantly so when there are none it's the obvious option for both of you. None of the awkwardness that one may expect as you wiggle into a comfortable position on his vast lap. You're so... comfortable. At ease. His hands fall (comfortably) around your midriff, loosely caging you in but you don't feel claustrophobic in the slightest, because it's Namjoon's arms that are holding you. Every so often during this slightly impromptu hangout at Jin's flat you remember where you're sitting and you feel your cheeks burn up before getting lost in the chatter once more.

Jimin

The sofa is small to say the least. Squished up between Jimin and Jin like this simply isn't very practical or comfortable for anyone involved. That's how you got here, half on Jimin's lap after gradually climbing further and further up his thigh until you had situated yourself there. He somehow hadn't noticed yet, you supposed because your movements had been so slow. At one point he had moved his hand down to rest on your own thigh and you had stared at it briefly before continuing your mission to find yourself directly on top of Jimin. You were very determined. After ten or so minutes you finally reached the summit, perched on his legs and leaning against the arm of the sofa. You don't even have time to bask in your glory before he speaks; "You could have just asked to sit on my lap you know."

Taehyung

Initially Taehyung tells you to sit on the floor. Yes. Your own boyfriend. Betrays you. The floor? How dare he. As soon as he sees your pout however his mind changes in a flash. He can't stand to see your eyebrows furrow and your lips downturned even if you're joking so here he is, practically pulling you off of the floor where you sat out of pure principle. Finally your in his lap, ignoring him, once more, out of principle. Why should you talk to your stupid boyfriend who told you to sit on the stupid floor? Eventually you feel his lips on your neck and before you can complain that it tickles he's wrapping his arms round you and apologising profusely. And who are you to deny him?

Jungkook

Jungkook is practically a human chair at this point. Or footstool. Depending on your mood. When you're nominated to give up your own (extremely comfy) seat you realise that there is an even more luxurious place to rest. Jungkook's lap is warm and comforting and he knows it. You've spent many movie nights basically just lying on him so he's used to your weight on him. You're used to the way he draws circles with his fingers on your legs and arms letting them dance their way up your body until you nearly fall asleep. He's used to the way you sometimes grab his hand and play with his fingers, stroking his smooth nails in awe. You're used to him and he's used to you, so you feel right at home on his lap.

New ARMY and completely obsessed

The loss of sleep so I can just read one more thing is only outweighed by my regret that I didn't pay attention to BTS sooner. Thank you social media algorithms for introducing me! I love them so much and I am way too old to say that without feeling a little awkward. I am grateful that my hyperfixation has settled enough for me to return to a normal sleeping pattern. I am continuing to spend all my free time exploring the incredible amount of content out there and am grateful for all the information I have found here on Tumblr. (yes, I joined Tumbler to feed my BTS obsession) So thank you to everyone I have liked and reblogged!

I am OT7 ARMY first. I love them all (even if I am a little extra obsessed with Jimin and Jungkook) and think they are a really special group of people. It's obvious to me that they are very close and truly care about each other like family. That being said, I definitely think Jimin and Jungkook are together and consider myself a supporter. You're welcome to call me delulu and that is okay. Obviously I can't know anything for sure and I'm okay if I am wrong about them, but I'm convinced they have a special bond and there are too many things that I couldn't reason away, even though I tried. But since I am convinced now that they are together, I'm okay with having my likely delulu moments where I enjoy reading into cute, possibly innocent interactions between those two. Maybe I'll share some with you. :)

two years!! :D it’s been two years since my final curtain call and seven years since Jimlingss began! Seven years!!! Now that’s a crazy yet meaningful number!

Hello to everyone reading this message :D hopefully you remember me (it’s ok if you don’t) and for those who care, hopefully this is a treat! just a quick update on my life — I successfully completed my first year of law school and what a whirlwind it’s been.

I’ve had so many ups and downs in the past year and I honestly feel like I’ve changed a lot. like evolved from pichu to pikachu. It was my first time moving away from home, away from my parents, and making so many friends. it’s been 20% bitter and 80% sweet. overall, I feel like I’ve learnt so much about myself and became a lot more stable in who I am.

school is hard but completely manageable. luckily, I don’t think my choice was wrong. there are days I quite enjoy what I’m learning. I got 2 years left in the game. soon (hopefully) I’ll be making the big bucks $$$ and I’ll be able to fund my sugar baby dreams (except I’ll also be my own sugar mommy). Although my dating life is as stale as always with 0 movement, I’ve become close with a handful of folks that I hold dearly to my heart. guess I’m in my friendship arc hahahaha

funny enough, I actually came back to this blog out of my own volition 2 weeks ago and re-read some of my stories. I feel so nostalgic. some of my stories really slap ngl. anyway, I really miss creative writing so much. Fortunately, there’s a few extracurriculars at school that allow me to write creatively so it’s somewhat of an outlet for me. it’s not fully satisfying but it’s something!!

I regularly come back to tumblr to check messages and do plagiarism checks lol. Speaking of which, I’ll take this time to answer some messages in my inbox.

unfortunately, i don’t have any socials that anyone can follow me on. my socials are pretty private and only the people who i’m close to, I follow and vice versa. but no worries because I will always come back to this blog to do a yearly update so you’ll hear from me! Y'all...

This live ... when I don't think they could get any more mind-blowing... as usual, I will wait for when they tack on the English subs permanently before I write up a full post on it.

But I was following translators AND reading the instant subs... it was amazing and so touching when he got so emotional over Army Love Letter... the purple hearts streaming by made me cry harder while watching him cry...

Then I took a chance while he was staring at the comments and fired off a "did you see Jimin's guitar?" and this happened a few seconds later:

Yes, that was me asking that IN ENGLISH and he spotted it among the other comments flying by at warp speed... my life is complete now. Bye.

I have thoughts about the Watch with Jimin livestream...

How do i love thee? Let me count the ways...

I did in fact do some counting. I counted Jimin's blink rate during the almost two minutes he watched JK recording the back-up vocals for Letter to Army. And yes, it was a labour of love, especially since I don't enjoy numbers... they're tricksy squirmy little gremlins that do sneaky things like divide themslves in two, or become imaginary.

But for the sake of science and Jikookery, I counted how many times - and when - Jimin blinked during this sequence.

Overall, nothing unusual to report. The average number of times a person blinks in a minute is approximately 15. In the 1m55s of video I captured, Jimin blinked 33 times. Unremarkable.

Except...

The pattern of how much he blinked changed markedly depending on who was on screen.

When Jmin was watching himself, he blinked far more than when he was watching JK. Frequent blinking can be a sign of stress, and there were a number of other clues too, that Jimin wasn't all that comfortable watching himself: giggling, hiding his face, selfconsciously flicking his hair, playing with his hands etc etc.

When JK was on screen Jimin sat still, his gaze fixed on JK. Often his mouth fell open just a little, his lips parted as though he was entranced. In fact, during the first 20 seconds of the footage when he's leaning forward staring intently at JK, he only blinks 4 times.

And that's a clue to another factor at play here...

There's a phenomenon in the psychology of attraction called a COPULATORY GAZE. When someone stares intently at a person they find attractive, that's what it's called.

It's a COPULATORY GAZE.

So it's not just a minor fascination he has going on, or a bit of focused admiration.

Translated to the coloquial, I guess you could call it EYE FUCKING.

Yes, eye fucking is a scientific phenomenon.

But wait, there's more...

Towards the end of this segment of Watch With Jimin, when JK is done recording and he and Jimin are on screen together, something happens to our dear Jiminie on the livestream.

It involves a bit of eye fucking and lip licking (licking, tongue movement, swallowing, all necessary to deal with the saliva that accumulates in your mouth when you're aroused.) Yes, it seems our boy has a visceral response watching the doco, particularly when JK plays around with him on screen.

JK says he's going to feature in Jimin's concert, and he then moves towards Jimin and says (you can't make this stuff up istg) "I will do this behind you." Right, he's just talking about singing the back up vocals.

Jimin is absolutely transfixed though. He swallows with some difficulty. His chest is visibly rising and falling. He's breathing hard and I'm sure that's not all.

Now realistically we've seen them flirt and tease each other so many times that what they're doing in that studio isn't even worth mentioning. And we know Jimin pushes JK's buttons on screen far more than this, apparently just for fun. So why is this little te-ta-te getting Jimin all hot and bothered (because there's no question, that is what's happening).

There's only one thing i can think of.

It's because he's watching it on screen.

I cannot think of ANY other reason that this lukewarm bit of playfulness would make him literally breathless.

And ya know, because i'm a dirty boy with a wild imagination, this leads me to think of all those times they've flirted onscreen...

Does Jimin go home and watch Bangtan TV clips and get all shook up?

Is he bookmarking all the YT complilations of him and JK doing questionable things, and using them for his own nefarious purposes?

I don't even want to think about the footage that gets deleted, the stuff that's too risque to put in a Bangtan Bomb. I picture Jimin scooping it up off the cutting room floor and stuffing down his shirt to smuggle home.

And what about all the on-stage shenanigans at concerts? Kitty Gang Jimin comes to mind immediately.

Does he search for fancams - from LY Hong Kong maybe - and use them to cam his fan in the privacy of his bedroom?

Ok, I've reached that invisble line.... I'm going to stop RIGHT HERE.

You can decide for yourselves whether our mochi has a lil bit of an exhibitionist streak - whether the thought of doing questionable things in public with his buff boytoy revs his engine.

I'll leave you with this nugget of barely suppressed lust, and I'm not just talking about the goings-on on stage. The whole vibe of this concert is feral. I am forever sorry to have missed this one...

(The two women in the bottom right corner are amost as entertaining as the boys imo... pretty sure one of them drops their army bomb haha...)
