What we know now, after they have started MS

This is a short post, because life is a lot right now and i have very little emotional energy. But this felt important, so here I am.

Tonight I revisited an older post and realised I'd never completed the thought process i began there...

When Jimin released his solo album, FACE, I wrote this analysis post.

Part of that analysis talked about my impression of JK's backing vocals on Letter.

We had seen Jimin's Production Diary, and based on the clip of JK in the recording studio I thought he didn't know he would be asked to sing backing vocals.

After watching the docuseries, BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star, we know that was correct...

It was a surprise to him when Jimin asked him.

In fact both aspects of that prediction were right, he didn't know about the song at all.

I have two questions:

Why would Jimin have kept the song a secret from JK?

And

Why wouldn't Jimin himself ask Jungkook to sing it? Why get PDogg to ask him? Jimin was RIGHT THERE.

Actually, make that three questions.

Why did Jimin scurry away as soon as JK asked to listen to the song?

Jimin earnestly said, "I made a fan song", while holding Jungkook's face in his hands.

That's such an intimate gesture, by the way. If my Best Friend held my face that way while they told me they'd done something, I'd take it to mean that the something was significant for/about me.

Jungkook asked to listen to the song, and Jimin... vanished. He retreated to the sofa to sit out of Jungkook's line of sight.

He's suddenly shy? Shy of Jungkook's reaction?? Wierd, but ok...

Unless the song is REALLY significant to JK....

In short, yes, it is REALLY significant. We already kinda guessed that right? But now, in light of their situation, it's more significant...

So, Jungkook recorded his part of the song.

Lets think about the lyrics...

Bear in mind this was written and recorded long before they had confirmation that their application for companion enlistment was successful...

These lyrics are even more significant in that context.

Plus

This is the part of the song that's in banmal. The switch from polite to familiar signals a change in the relationship, (I wrote about that in a previous post) and since Jimin always talks to ARMY politely, we can asume this part of the the song (at least) is directed at... someone else 👀

"We dont know what the future holds, don't worry I'll stay by your side."

Now consider that Jimin has written these words for not only himself to sing. He's asking Jungkook to sing them with him.

He's asking Jungkook to sing this love song with him.

With no hesitation, Jungkook says yes. He does the recording there and then.

And when JK is finished recording...

He tells Jimin that the song is really nice. Immediately, Jimin is a limpet. He's all over Junkgook like he's made of Velcro. A stark contrast to his earier behaviour when his vulnerability made him scurry away.

Jimin jokes that Junkgook should record a message for ARMY and Pdogg calls him out on that lie. Of course JK refuses. "It's your song." he tells Jimin.

Jimin is pushing his luck here, first asking JK to record a message, and then asking him to claim ownership (or share responsibility) for the song.

Jk has no trouble saying no to that.

It seems like more than a meaningless joke to me. One of those suggestions alone might be, but both? It left me wondering if Jimin suddenly felt scared that he was revealing too much with the song?

I'm kinda impressed that JK, for all his love and support, wasn't prepared to rescue Jimin from his choices. He simply, but gently, said no. It tells me a lot about their relationship.

It also tells me a lot about both JK's honestly and his belief in Jimin.

eta, I was tired and once my thought bubble popped i just hit 'post' and fell asleep. But it's exactly a year since Jimin released FACE and i think it's a pretty cool coincidence that i came back to this randomly on this day.

pairing: yoongi x reader

synopsis: how life/the relationship was like after he enlisted.

genre: fluff, established relationship, yoongi enlisted, they are trying their best, idk if I should call it angst or hurt/comfort, but there's some kind of ✨️melancholy✨️ in this (predictable much), I effing miss him sm more now :(.

warnings: t.w: if u are just like me, prepare to be missing yoongi sickeningly after this. gosh, it feels like a hole in a chest rn. idk what to do w myself. oh btw some ideas mentioned here are purely my own opinions, so it doesn't have to be "facts" or "all true." if u have different opinions or if u disagree with any it u can reach out to me about them, I would like that, but that's that, enjoy!!!!!!!!!

the problem wasn't that you couldn't see him, no.

since his duty was different from that of an ordinary individual, you both were able to spend the nights in each other's arms.

when he comes back home after duty, sometimes he's met with an empty house where he'd wash up and start preparing something for you to enjoy munching on once you get back home at a later hour of the day. other times, he comes to a busy, warm house. you blasting your favorite drama on the TV while doing the laundry in the middle of the living room, or just chilling and waiting to welcome him with mellow hugs and kisses.

and when he's on duty, he can't always contact you, but he whispered kisses laced with promises into your lips before leaving on his first day, and he would never dare to break them. not that he wants to anyway.

sometimes you'd wake up to post-it notes sticked on random surfaces and items around the house, or good morning messages of love and kisses. sometimes he calls during lunch breaks to check up on you, reminding you to drink water and eat well because that's yoongi's most precious habit of showing that he always just cares.

"don't forget to layer your outfit today, I just saw that it's gonna be awfully cold."

"did you like the bouquet I sent? want more? cook me ___ tonight xx"

"hi, don't forget to drink a cup of water right this instance or you'll shrivel up and die."

"it snowed on my way here this morning, let's go out this weekend and have some fun :]"

when days are too hard to handle, weighing one of you—maybe even both of you at the same time, cause life is a bitch like that—down and burying you under the ground, you'd send long voice messages to the other. never expecting an immediate reply. just simply pressing record and spilling all the bottled negative energy that clogged your brains and chests.

so, the problem wasn't really that you couldn't see or talk to him..

the problem was that neither of you were used to any of that.

you weren't used to being away from each other for long hours throughout the day (even though he often went on tours and job events aboard), or not being able to talk and/or see him whenever you wanted to—atleast whenever your shift agreed to let you. you're stuck on this routine for months. you were so not used to that.

over the years, you and yoongi grew to become a pen and a paper: two different items that are meant to only function and be paired together. one can't be capable without the other.

yet you try to avail yourselves of the situation and take it all easy. slowly, like waking up and leaving a warm, comfy bed at 5 in the morning to gain some purpose somewhere out there.

so, while staying away from one another for several hours a day comes with heavy challenges and even melancholy at times, that doesn't mean it can't be fruitful for your relationship.

since for it to grow healthier, a couple, intentionally or not, sometimes needs to take some "time off" to preserve the connection and intimacy between them.

you always remind yoongi of how much you had missed him during the day, which is something that never failed to put a smile on his face and trigger a stream of butterflies in his stomach.

love and yearning are two inseparable powerful emotions that one can't defeat, and absence makes the heart grow fonder. that's the beauty of the challenge your relationship was subject to at this new stage.

"I am still me, you are still you. everything's gonna be alright." yoongi would say as he hugs your face into his chest.

he always reminds you that this new chapter the two of you have entered together, hand in hand and with shaking hearts, is one that he'd been dreading but looking forward to for a very long time.

a chapter that made him understand how much he needs your existence in his life. to be himself and to be the somebody you need and deserve.

and he makes sure to translate that into your skin as he traces it with his lips and fingertips when you finally fall into each other's embrace.

if you're unfamiliar, anton is a korean to english translator who actually did the english translation for bts' book beyond the story. from what i understand, he has been on pretty good terms with army since and has not fallen into any of the traps a lot of other people who find themselves in the army spotlight usually do? but feel free to correct me if i'm wrong. though, even if i am, i don't think it detracts from his statements above.

i felt the need to highlight this opinion over here because i maintain the (unpopular, i guess?) position of if you're not being radicalized by this experience even just a little bit, then you need to widen your overall focus.

i do not want to be the bearer of only doom and gloom and please cope as you see fit within reason, but i have seen enough romantic takes on this whole situation that i kind of wish i could shake a few people.

the risk level here for the boys isn't zero. what happened to seokjin already proved that. all of them being strong both physically and mentally doesn't negate people's valid concern for their well being. it is not a lack of confidence in them or some form of "coddling grown men" to express distress over a situation that can go sideways at a moment's notice.

if you don't believe me, by all means, don't take my word for it and go find your own sources, that is something i will always encourage. but here's a freebie for you to start with.

I love them so much and I hate everything. I want to burn it all down. I hate that they are going. I know they were always going to, I know they chose to, but I want to annihilate everything and everybody responsible for taking them away from me.

I've read their letters, smiled at their photo dumps, raged at their Wlives. It's not okay. All of this is fucked up.

I know that in the middle of all of this they'll be fine.

But man...

I love them so fucking much it kills me. Also, I'm thankful. So thankful that for the last 10 years I've been part of their journey, and I intend to be for the several more decades of it. I will be here seated and cashed up for the rest of it. I'm thankful that Namjoon, Seokjin, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jung Kook exist and are the sort of people they are. I hope they learn more about themselves, grow in resilience, intelligence and kindness. I hope their experiences there enrich their lives somehow, inspire them to express themselves creatively again, as BTS and solo artists.

I hope they work hard, stay healthy, and stay happy.

But fuck.

I'm so angry.

So fucking pissed.

It already hurts like hell to miss them this bad.

Please stop circulating MS pics

lowkey left twitter bc I didn’t wanna deal w leaked pics of the tannies that were going around. I genuinely enjoy reading blogs and discussions far more than twitter convos where everyone seems to have a razor blade in hand just in case they have to fight. But now that I saw them leaked pics here in tumblr, it makes me sad and disappointed.

Please refrain from sharing pics of the tannies during their MS unless they have directly shared them with us. I know we all are always hoping that they are okay and would love to get updates about their well-being which we shall get soon from the tannies themselves.

I also am aware that some of those pics going around were official releases from the military itself but I can’t help to think that these were not pics the tannies could freely consent to. If they had a choice, I don’t think they would want these released. They didn’t get to agree to these bc they’re no longer civilians rn. They don’t have a say. So please keep that in mind when you see those circulating.

Why suddenly everyone is pressuring for the rest of BTS to enlist?

Jokes were fine at first, but now I’m seeing this type of posts everyday not only on this site, and I’m kinda confused because why would you want them to enlist when they clearly still have things to do?

Namjoon teased new music, Jimin is in Budapest, Taehyung was in the studio, Jungkook is in the middle of Golden… idk what are they supposed to do? Leave everything and go enlist even though they still got some time to go and still come back in 2025?

They know what to do. What’s this sudden rush?

I think that at this point if you believe that they will go on tour in 2025 you’re kinda naïve.

This is not just about ARMY

This is where big accounts could be useful. Since many army seem to be misunderstanding. I wish they would use their powers for good and help fans see all of this in context.

1 - Hobi is leaving.

If Army are upset just imagine how the guys feel… It makes it even more real that this is happening…to them all. Not to mention Hobi is an emotional support system for them all. They are feeling this. Sunshine is going away.

2 - Jimin

He could be tired from all his promotions or he just wanted time with his friend Hoseok before he goes in. All options are valid.

3 - RM

He was supposed to go in with Hobi…he pushed it off to work on projects. But his deadline for enlistment is looming too. As he said…”he’s running out of time” Let’s be honest, not everyone wants to go to the military. Highly intelligent people especially have issues with it. (Sensitive ones too 🐰) RM is probably pondering his future as an artist because he’s being “forced” to stop creating for a substantial period time. He’s stressing and grieving…trying to process…and all of that is natural as a human about to go through a major change. All of this real…

4 - 2025

They all want to be back and that’s the plan. But life is full of uncertainty and while I firmly believe they will reunite, BTS as a group can do nothing to make that happen until they are all discharged. That means no planning together or working together…2025 is a dream that they can do nothing to realize at the moment. That has to be incredibly difficult for this group that has been working and planning for over a decade.

This is a reset…not of their own design. And it’s a struggle…

This is just me being emotional and trying to cope because I miss my babies. I miss BTS. Feel free to skip this if you’re not into that.

BTS really just makes the best music. Hands down.

My playlist just now:

Dis-ease -> Home -> Baepsae -> Face-off -> D-DAY -> UGH -> Closer -> Like Crazy -> What Do You Think? -> Smoke Sprite -> Amygdala

This is the kind of music you can form a religion behind. Not saying BTS are running a cult or anything, but that if they did, the sort of music they make certainly inspires devotion.

At random times during the week I remember seeing Yoongi in concert earlier this year. Every time, he was magnificent. You could feel his passion in your bones when he was on stage. He absolutely validated every hope and expectation I’ve ever had of him. Yoongi is in a league of one and this year I became impossibly even more proud of him.

Not just him. Every member reminded me in their own way why they are BTS, and why they are the best.

This isn’t something I care to say often because I think it’s self-evident, but today I feel like saying plainly that BTS are the absolute best.

I don’t think anybody following me now is still a baby ARMY. If you’ve been in the fandom for even a few months that means you’ve seen how things run here. You’ve seen how ruthless this system and industry is. You’ve seen the extent of hate, depravity and greed all in a bid to be at the top. There’s no way in hell BTS would’ve risen to the top of this house of cards if they weren’t the absolute best.

Their singular focus on being the best was frankly mesmerizing to watch, year after year. Even now. BTS are in every sense a once in a lifetime group. And I’m so thankful that I’ve got to be part of their journey until now.

I just miss them man. I miss them so bad. It feels a bit silly to type out, but god I miss them.
