Let’s say for whatever reason Bella doesn’t heed Edwards warnings about Jasper, for whatever reason, be it out of spite, curiosity or her misreading Jaspers distance in a different way. Maybe he’s just shy, yes that must be it. The more Edward insists otherwise the more curious/ determine she becomes. What happens then? Assuming Jasper doesn’t ignore her attempts at friendship or straight up eats her.

Anon, why do I have the strangest feeling that what you really want out of this is a Jasper/Bella fic?

As usual, my advice is to go and write the Jasper/Bella fic. You'll feel a lot happier than whatever I'm going to give you, I'm sure.

(I also like that Jasper's not allowed to eat her or ignore her even though these are by far the most likely outcomes.)

Edward Gives Jasper the Talk

Edward doesn't know the universe forbids Jasper from either ignoring Bella or eating her. I his eyes, there's a good chance his girlfriend's about to become Jasper's lunch.

Moreover, Jasper is the last person Edward wants Bella talking to. Jasper's lived the full vampire experience, of not only eating people, but turning and murdering fellow vampires for decades and fighting over territory. Edward is not at all at ease with Jasper's backstory and doesn't want Bella talking to him and potentially realizing just how dangerous and monstrous vampires really are. Not to mention that Edward just doesn't like Jasper or trust him.

Edward tells Jasper to back the fuck off.

No, Edward doesn't care if Bella would find it weird/keeps bothering Jasper no matter how much distance Jasper tries to put between them. Jasper can go take a vacation somewhere for a few months/years/however long this thing goes on.

Jasper, of course, then realizes that Edward intends to dump Bella Swan at some mysterious point. Could be a few weeks from now, could be at the end of high school. But it's very clear that Bella Swan's not getting turned and that Edward doesn't expect this to last more than a few years.

Jasper brings up why Edward isn't dumping Bella now and making it clear, up front, that they don't have a future together (would certainly save Jasper a lot of trouble).

Edward throws a hissy fit that doesn't make much sense but boils down to making the most of the time he and Bella do have together and that Edward... isn't emotionally strong enough to live without her yet. BUT HE WILL BE. SOON.

Jasper...

Does not see this going well.

Especially as Alice is convinced that, sooner or later, Bella will be a vampire which means that... Edward's plan isn't going to work.

Jasper Keeper of Secrets and Possible Homewrecker

Well, Bella's still convinced Jasper is her super cool friend (he's not, she just won't leave.) Unfortunately, Jasper now knows something Bella doesn't: Edward plans to dump her any minute now.

And Bella keeps talking about trying to get to know the family better (which is why she claims she's around him all the time), and wanting to really understand this family and be a part of it. Bella, very clearly, thinks Edward's not going to dump her or else will turn her into a vampire.

Any minute now.

More, Jasper realizes that the more time Bella's spending with him is less time she's spending with Edward. And she... Doesn't seem to realize that this is a problem and perhaps a very large red flag in her relationship with Edward.

You shouldn't be dumping your boyfriend to hang out with your boyfriend's scary brother.

Especially when said boyfriend is now very much noticing and getting very very angry and accusatory.

Jasper cracks like an egg.

He tells Bella that a) Edward has no long term plans for their relationship and has no intention of ever turning her into a vampire and will probably dump her come graduation b) if she's serious about dating Edward then she needs to actually spend time with Edward.

Bella is Shocked, Simply Shocked!

Bella somehow did not see this coming.

She loves Edward! How could Edward not know that? And he keeps saying he can't live without her but now Jasper is telling her that he can and that he plans to? Is Bella just some... temporary distraction?

Jasper realizes in horror that he's caused the breakup to happen as Bella sobs next to him (entirely too close and delicious smelling) saying that she should just get it over with so Edward can move on to Tanya and she always knew it was too good to be true!

Edward was just being nice to her!

This whole time!

Before Jasper can stop it, Bella dumps Edward with the "it's not you, it's me" speech and prepares to enter the rest of her life of miserable spinsterhood.

And all hell breaks loose.

You Better Fix This, Jasper!

Alice tells Jasper he better fix his own goddamn mess because he's just lost her her sister and best friend and Edward's wife all because he couldn't keep his stupid mouth closed.

Jasper feels genuinely horrible but legitimately doesn't understand. He was only being honest and telling Bella what Edward intended to do but hadn't had the courage to tell her yet. Surely, for a good relationship, they should be honest with each other.

Alice tells him that this is great, and all, except Edward wasn't being honest with himself either. He wants to dump Bella, but he can't, and he never will really be able to, so all Jasper did was cause a lot of drama about nothing and FIX THIS HUBBY! FIX THIS NOW!

Edward, of course, is livid about all of this and does not take it well when Jasper points out, again, that he was just telling Bella what Edward had told him and clearing the air. Why is this a problem?

Edward accuses Jasper of wanting Bella for himself. HE KNOWS SHE SMELLS DELICIOUS.

(Jasper can't even. He can't.)

Jasper, not sure what's even happening, goes to fix his mess and convince Bella that Edward was never actually going to dump her and the pair are hopelessly in love.

He Can't Do It

In the course of this, Jasper learns that Bella wasn't in love with Edward. She thinks she is, of course, but she doesn't even know Edward's favorite color. Turns out, she knows jack shit about Edward, and seems to have a minimal grasp on his personality.

Every part she lists off that she likes is essentially "vampire" and "pays attention to me"

Oh good god, Jasper thinks to himself.

He can't get these two back together.

Because Edward thinks Bella is genuinely in love with him. It would break him, if he finds out that Edward could pretty much be replaced with any single vampire who pays her any mind. It would be... so bad.

And if they turn her? What if she gets turned, she and Edward get married, and Alice gets her best friend and then all of them find out that Bella has no idea who any of these people even are? What if they all find out then after it's much too late?

It would be a disaster.

Jasper cannot get these two back together.

It Gets Worse

Jasper has to break the news to the family but...

He's learned that honesty is not the best policy. And he thinks Bella's young and stupid, and apparently very into the vampire aesthetic, but she's not necessarily a bad person.

It's not her fault she has a crush on Edward and doesn't realize it's only a crush.

So he... lies.

He tells the family that he agrees with Edward. That this is the best ending for Bella. She has a... bit of a messy break up now, but it's of her own accord, she'll have a human future, and she'll move on.

Edward does not take this well.

Especially as, deep down, he knows that Jasper's repeating his own arguments back to him. Turns out, it's very different when someone else says them as opposed to Edward saying them.

Edward throws a fit and accuses Jasper of just wanting to see him miserable and unhappy because he's jealous of Edward's control.

(Jasper still can't even)

He knows that Jasper's hiding something about this.

(Jasper's not about to admit that it's that Bella doesn't love him and is desperately blocking out that information.)

Edward becomes determined to win Bella back so that... he can dump her... later... on his own terms...

And sometime during this Jasper realizes, to his horror, that Edward doesn't love Bella either. He, in fact, is doing the same damn thing as Bella herself and seems to know next to nothing about her and just... likes how she smells. A lot.

Holy Jesus, Jasper thinks, what a mess.

It Gets Even Worse

In all this time, Jasper finds himself running between Bella and Edward, and feeling very guilty hangs out with Bella during the breakup. This unwittingly casts him into the role of Jacob Black, where he becomes Bella's source of validation.

Bella develops a crush on Jasper.

Now Alice is very upset with Jasper, accusing him of doing this on purpose, and ruining the entire family. She's so upset, in fact, that she claims there's no way out AND HE MIGHT AS WELL JUST DATE BELLA IF HE LIKES HER SO MUCH.

(He doesn't, he barely knows Bella, she seems nice and all, but this is all very fast and what is even happening?)

Edward comes to see Jasper as his most hated and sneaky rival and I imagine challenges him to a duel. Jasper, hoping to get this over with, wins very quickly.

He shouldn't have done that.

The Cullens as a unit implode. There's much nonsense and drama. And at the end of the day, I imagine Bella's turned anyway, perhaps because of the James fiasco, and Jasper finds himself suddenly married to Bella because everyone's decided he's married to Bella.

He has no idea what's even happening.

hiii, I know you’re super busy and not currently working on HIWYTSL but I was wondering if you had any fun headcanons about that fic?!can’t stop thinking about Them-other bella/jasper fics just don’t hit right for me lol. if not I totally understand!!

Ooh!

Okay. I'm not sure how "fun" this head-canon is, but I had a blast exploring the Cullens and their "eating-disorder"-esque behavior when it came to their diets. In HIWYTSL, vampires who consume human blood do not have issues with control or thirst (once out of their newborn phase, of course.)

Here's a snippet that highlights this (Chapter 15):

"I'm not saying that. I just—it seems that there are two paths here. Those who drink from humans, and those who prefer animals." "Wrong," he refuted. "Both consume human blood. One voluntarily, the other involuntarily." That was surely an interesting perspective. "You're saying the Cullens slip occasionally?" "The Cullens believe that they have a choice," he explained. "But I don't believe so. Every cell in their bodies demands the nutrients from human blood. Yet, they choose to hunt animals. I believe that this restriction has caused a psychological shift in their ability to control themselves." "Really?" That would certainly explain Jasper's control advantage. He paused. "Let's talk about chocolate—that had been a good comparison had it not?" Bella nodded, and he continued, "The Cullens are humans that have messed up their hunger cues with severe dietary restrictions. It has caused this incessant addiction to chocolate—to sugar—that whenever they're around it, they simply cannot resist." "It's an eating disorder," Bella said, understanding. "That's my theory."

I also had a great time exploring mating in this story. In the story's head-canon, mates aren't granted, they are created. There is a ritual in which both partners agree upon to tie them with a mating bond, and it's one of the main conflicts within the story.

From Chapter 21:

She shot him a small smirk. "Let's start with your own definition. How would you define a mate?" Resting his elbows on the table before him, he steepled his fingers. "A mate is an equal." Simple, okay. "Can you have more than one?" "No. There can only be one bond." She turned her back to him, eyes absently scanning the spines of the countless books that lined the walls. "Alright. So, a monogamous relationship?" "Correct." "You said that you get to choose your mate. How does that work?" "You do just that. You choose. If agreed by both individuals, there's a simple ritual that is performed that binds the two together." She took a sip from her cup. "Just like getting married, right?" Although she quickly remembered that Edward had told that mates went deeper than simply marriage. "No," Jasper refuted. "Marriage is nothing but a written contract that can be easily broken. When we mate, we mate until death." "'Til death do us part." She turned around with a smile. "Sounds like marriage to me." He shook his head at her. "You cannot divorce a mate." "Well, what if you can't work it out?" "The bond only breaks upon death. If one partner dies, the bond is dissolved."

Anon's referring to A Girl's Best Friend, Love, and Lobsters.

Well, anon, you know my answer. You have the power to change this! I give my blessing to write an AU version in which Bella/Jasper happens so long as you credit me as the original author. You are in charge of your own destiny!

Here's my thoughts though.

Is it Possible?

Yes.

In the original story, Carlisle ends up taking the fall and taking one for the team, er, Bella. He takes her to Volterra for her own protection and in his heart of hearts knows that this means he must leave his family behind.

Jasper chooses to stay with Alice, though their marriage at this point is irreversibly damaged and all too likely doomed.

However, things didn't have to go this way. Bella could have skipped out on baseball, telling Carlisle his family sucks. Without baseball, there's no fleeing to Italy.

Things continue awkwardly as Carlisle becomes increasingly upset that his family is being so awful about this. Jasper, meanwhile, is in an increasingly awful situation.

Alice ends up dumping him, as she can barely see Jasper anymore, and concludes this means he'll leave her if he hasn't already. Jasper didn't see this coming and is beyond frustrated as he hasn't been making any of these decisions at all! Alice is reacting based on what he might do, if even that. He's being punished for things he never intended and would never do.

He's also upset that she's so upset about the clothes. It's nothing personal and this helps him in a way that nothing ever has. With this, Alice doesn't have to watch him, he won't be the next one to slip up, and Jasper won't have to live in constant fear and shame.

Alice reveals she doesn't care, she'd much rather have to watch him constantly than have him taken from her by Bella.

Jasper, having no one else to turn to (if not because Carlisle is his own disaster at the moment have screaming matches with Edward), seeks out the only person he can: Bella Swan.

Bella, being oddly level-headed if also an alien, is actually a great source of advice and diagnoses Jasper's many relationship problems with Alice as well as the Cullens in general being a cluster fuck of relationship problems.

The pair end up becoming closer, friends, and that can take us on the winding trail to romance. Edward, I imagine at some point tries to avenge Alice's honor and Jasper is basically kicked out of the family over this.

Jasper and Bella leave to go their own way, Carlisle gets to stay with the family though he is allowed to visit if he promises to come alone.

Yandere Cullen family

A/N: Renesmee is a platonic yandere. The rest of the Cullens are romantic yanderes for you, but it is mostly centered on Bella and Edward right now.

You met Renesmee in a park. You were babysitting a child for a family, and she happened to approach you. This child looked too grown to be the age she said but also looked too young to be anything older, and something about her was off-putting in an uncanny valley way. However, something compelled you to engage with her. She said she did not want to play with any of the other children. Renesmee said they were too ingenuous. That seemed like too big of a word for such a little girl. She talked your ear off, though. She said she does not "talk" much at home, and that it is easier just to be not verbal. That worried you; was this child being abused and forced to stay silent at home? Who even were her parents?

As if on cue, a very beautiful man and woman approached. They looked too young to be the girl’s parents, but also too similar to her to not be her parents. They were also more inhuman in appearance than Renesemee. The mom, Bella, was more welcoming than Renesmee’s father, Edward, who chose to remain standoffish.

Bella smiled and told you, “Renesmee doesn’t usually talk to people besides her family; you must be special.” Her tone sounded as if she had been flirting with you. You chose to ignore it. Maybe just because she was so inhumanly beautiful made it seem like she was flirting. “I don’t know about how special I am, but your daughter is certainly unique; she seems so bright for her age.”

Edward finally spoke up, but in a flat and uninterested tone, “she is; we are very proud.” An awkward silence settled over the area. Thankfully, the child you had been babysitting came up ready to go home.

You began to see them more and more around town. It seemed as if Renesmee could sniff you out in a second if she happened to be in the same area as you. You were relieved that you did not live in the area and lived in a part of town that was in a much lower tax bracket. If you did live in the area, it would not be surprising if Bella, Renesemee, or even Edward showed up at your doorstep. Edward was the most normal out of the three. Bella’s behavior was nice, but something about it felt awkward with a sinister undertone. If she looked different, it would seem more sincere, but something about all three of them made you want to run away as fast as you could despite their beauty. A driver for the family that you babysat for had seen them when picking up you and the child and joked that Bella and Edward were probably related given that they looked similar. He loved to gossip and asked you a million questions about them. You shuddered at the idea. That could explain why their daughter was so peculiar, but wouldn’t incest result in more physical deformities and not just strange behavior from a child? Even if they were related, they did not seem to be that close, definitely not siblings. Everything about them seemed the same but also different.

You tried your best not to think too much about it, but it got to the point where you would see at least one of them anytime you were out on that side of town. You were fine trying to avoid them; each time your excuse was along the lines of “oh they need this kiddo back home!” or some other similar response. That is until you ended up getting fired. The mom refused to say why, and she reacted in disgust when she saw you. Before this, both of the parents enjoyed having you as their sitter. It was a harsh dismissal. You decided to stop by the grocery store before going home. You needed something, anything, to make you feel better about your loss of work, and with the influence your last family had in the community, it was clear you would not be babysitting for a while. Or so you thought.

“Hello,” Edward’s voice sounded from behind you. He did not seem happy to be there. “Sorry,” You mumbled, scooting out of the way, assuming you were in front of something he needed. “I have a job for you,” He said cryptically. You turned around to face him feeling confused. Edward continued to talk. “It will pay well. I know you take care of children, and I wanted to take Bella somewhere on a date, and we do not have a sitter for Renesmee, and she has warmed up to you.”

“You want me to babysit?” You asked somewhat dumbly causing him to smile a bit and chuckle. “Yes, she has warmed up to you, and Bella thinks you are trustworthy. The only catch is that you have to care for her at our home. You may not leave when you are watching her, even if you have an emergency.” You weren't a fan of that stipulation, but you figured they would allow you to call them to come back in a dire situation.

“Okay, fine. When do I need to be there, and is this going to be a regular thing?” You asked. He seemed a little irritated that you're asking these questions. “Tonight. You will start now. It will be a regular job. You can follow me out to our house.”

You arrived at his and Bella’s home. It looked like it was designed by the best architect. Renesmee greeted you outside. “You're here! We are going to have so much fun! Come one! Come meet my family.” As she is dragging you in, Edward is driving away. He did not even mention when they will be back or how much you were getting paid exactly. He was probably making sure you would not take the money and leave. There are people inside. Four people, two guys, and two girls sit on the couch and sofa. You hear a few people in the kitchen. “These are my aunts and uncles! That's Uncle Emmett and Aunt Rosalie; they are married, and then Aunt Alice and Uncle Jasper; they are married too. My Grandma Esme and Grandpa Carlisle are in the kitchen. Grandma wanted to make dinner for you… I mean us.” Two of them smile at you, the two dark-haired ones. The two blondes look mad and somewhat disgusted. This is weird. You have never babysat with people around. Why could the family not watch Renesmee? She seemed to like them just as much as you. Renesmee pulls you into the kitchen. Her grip is surprising for a little girl. A blonde man and a woman with caramel-colored hair are cooking. They look far too young to be a grandma and grandpa. Something about all of these people seems so familiar. As if you have seen them before. Not just on the rich side of town but on the poor side of town too, in your neighborhood. They both introduce themselves and clearly know your name as they greet you. “Are you hungry?” Esme asks, handing you a plate of food. It smells divine, but this has to be a trap. Most families prefer you not to eat a bunch on the job.

Renesmee grabs a plate and begins to eat. “It's so good! Grandma worked hard on it! You have to try it!” It is impossible to say no to her for some reason. You take a plate and take a few bites. It tastes wrong. There are hints of good flavor, but it is heavily covered up by the taste of medicine. The gravity of the situation hits you. “I need to excuse myself; I need a bathroom break.” The shakiness in your voice is clear. You pretend to go to the restroom, but book it to the door when you're out of sight. You see your keys are missing; even your phone has disappeared from your pocket. You step outside only to see your car missing. Suddenly you're grabbed from behind. This person is very strong but knows how to hold someone down without injuring them. You're stuck with a needle. Your life does not flash before your eyes, but each time you've seen these freaks in public flashes in your mind as your vision spins. A wave of calm lays over you. It is unwelcome because it feels unnatural, but it is too comforting for you to care as your vision goes in and out. You see some flashes of memories that do not belong to you. They are from a lower angle, so it has to be from Renesmee's mind. It is Carlisle assuring her that you are going to be safe because they all love you as much as she does.

Then, nothing. You're out like a light.
