Finally finished my charts for the upcoming translyric projects I want to do and ough... these are going to be so much harder than my first two ;---;

i love listening to pink spider by hide and wondering what's his deal is/what's occurred to him/what is going to occur to him

#the last line of the song is somewhat ambiguous too... cloud and spider are homophones in japanese and like. with hearing alone it can be #taken as the pink spider succeeding in its second attempt at flight. or pink clouds streaming through a sunset sky. being watched from below #im assuming he meant spider since you don't always use kanji for it but it's Ambiguous and that's so 👁️ 👁️. what'll happen to you shidou #also in chapter 253 (?) shidou's header was called a 'rocket diving header' by the commentator. rocket dive is also a hide song #which. like pink spider. is also about flying away (but with a much more. positive feeling than pink spider) and seeing something new/#escaping the constraints of your previous environment.#but pink spider is about flying and falling (and maybe getting back up? or maybe failing again) and rocket dive is about flying and soaring #SHIDOU RYUUSEI I WANT TO SEE INSIDE YOUR BRAIN #masayapping #shidou ryuusei

On the one hand, many of the cultures that inspired Avatar have a complex history and relationship with Christianity and saying writers should avoid anything vaguely Christian-influenced in their fic feels a little reductive.

On the other hand, the singer Leonard Cohen is Jewish and his musical and lyrical masterpiece Hallelujah is therefore not Christian-influenced (unless you count the way that sometimes the lyrics are changed from "it's not somebody who's seen the light" to "it's not some Christian who's seen the light" when preformed live) and I love that loophole.

#i think the persecution of japanese christians would be interesting to draw influence from for atla fanworks #i sang hallelujah for my partner and their sister a few points on the drive through canada #i don't know all the words so i had to skip some verses but its a lovely song and we were all miserable so i think i did us some good #my favorite verse is the one that goes *even though it all went wrong / i'll stand before the lord of song*
