I just NEED a s5 scene where Jancy is talking about how dumb Mike and Will are being and how they could resolve their problems if they just talked, and then another scene where Byler is talking about how dumb Nancy and Jonathan are being and how they could resolve their problems if they just talked, none of them realizing that the things they're calling out could also apply to themselves

And when Jonathan is looking at Mike and Will in S5 with his classic 🤨 and Nancy keeps wondering wtf he’s thinking about so they nearly get into another argument borne of their lack of communication—
—until he finally admits “there’s something going on with our brothers” and she does that like what? no *smile-laughs uncomfortably* head shake of hers…until some time passes and her inner investigative journalist, “I thought you were acting weird because of Will” self puts the shit together? What then?

Some things never change. It’s why Nancy is oh-so looking forward to coming home this summer, funnily enough.
She wants to have her mom’s meatloaf, pretend to be interested enough in sci-fi to sit through a movie with Mike, and stare at the photos posted on her vanity. She wants to feel like she’s seventeen again and worrying about studying for chemistry quizzes, not worrying about what Jonathan is up to right now.
If he’s talking to other girls. If he’s sliding up next to Argyle in the back of his van, too close for your average smoke session. If he’s having a blast with his time apart from her.
She knows they both need space — it still doesn’t feel good to dwell on it. She needs distractions or she’s going to blow a gasket.
Anything to alleviate the stress. Even if just for a night. Hell, even if just for a minute.
As much as it feels wrong to admit… she’s also looking forward to seeing Steve. To teasing him a little bit since she’s back in town, maybe flirting with him like she used to.
She has no idea what’s coming over her, what’s possessing her to have these thoughts — she doesn’t like Steve, at least, not like that, but just knowing that part of him will always love her brings an odd sense of comfort. It’s the normalcy that she’s craved while away at Uni. While she and Jonathan are taking a break.
It’s shitty. And she knows it.
After a quick ask around, she’s pulling up to a trailer at Forest Hills, parking next to the Beamer and stepping out of her car.
Steve might not have gotten into any of his choice colleges, but he’s making something for himself nonetheless, so she’s heard. Nancy wonders if he’s looking to reminisce about old times too when she knocks on the door, only… Steve isn’t who answers it.
It takes a few moments. Nancy can hear fumbling and a quiet curse before the deadbolt turns and the door cracks open.
“Uh… hey?” Billy greets lamely.
He squints in the sunlight, his posture hunched as he leans his arm on the doorframe. Nancy clutches her purse at her side, all of her scripting for this interaction bursting to flames in the back of her mind.
“Hey,” she says. Leans back enough to look at the plaque above the doorbell. “Am I at the wrong place?”
Back in school, she never really interacted with this guy. Just heard rumors, mostly. Saw him strutting around the halls like her worst testosterone-filled nightmare come to life. He doesn’t seem so big and tough now, confusion plastered all over his face.
She still doesn’t expect him to sound so gentle when he speaks.
“Steve’s out right now,” he says. Stands up straight and rubs his eye with the heel of his palm before gesturing over to the Beamer. “He took mine. Asshole always uses my shit.”
Nancy glances over her shoulder. Nods, more to herself than anything, and sighs.
This was a bust.
The door hinges creak from Billy leaning more of his weight into it.
“You, uh, wanna come in?” he asks.
Nancy presses her lips into a line, considering making up some lame excuse to run off until he spreads a little smile. It has her mind going blank in under a second.
Right. She forgot how charming this guy can be.
“Sure,” she murmurs.
Struts inside when he clears the doorway, trying to ignore the fact that she can smell the faded remnants of Steve’s cologne on him as she passes by.
Come to think of it, it looks like he’s wearing Steve’s clothes too. They fit better on him than they ever did on Nancy.
“I’m gonna make some coffee,” Billy says.
He shuts the door, and Nancy nods. Looks around, subtly trying to scope out the place. It’s not the stereotypical bachelor pad that she was expecting — the couch has a decent amount of pillows, the curtains match the rugs, and the posters on the walls are actually framed.
It looks lived-in, but not messy.
There are trinkets and tabletop things kind of strewn about, and it feels homey. More so than Steve’s parents’ house ever did.
The only thing that really catches her attention is the fact that there’s a single bedroom.
Billy brews a pot and glances over his shoulder when he opens a cupboard.
“Coffee?” he sighs.
“Sure,” Nancy says. Watches as he pulls two Garfield mugs out. “So, you guys… live together?”
“Mhm.”
He pours both mugs generously. Sets the sugar and the creamer on the counter so Nancy can fix hers how she likes. Surprisingly, he takes his coffee fairly sweet.
She half expected him to drink it black.
“How did that happen, if you don’t mind me asking?”
Nancy stirs her mix vacantly until the color lightens, watching the way that Billy’s lips quirk up into a smile again.
He splays his free hand against the counter and leans into it, shrugging his shoulders.
“He begged me, really,” he lilts. “Or did you mean how did we become friendly?”
“The ladder.”
Billy nods. Sips from his mug and hums to himself.
“I dunno, it kinda just happened. He’s a lover, not a fighter, after all.”
He fucking winks at her, and her face starts to feel warm.
She wants to chalk it up to the fact she obviously woke him up when she knocked. His hair isn’t primped, his curls less defined and perky than usual, and his eyes are half-lidded. Like he hasn’t quite adjusted to being awake yet.
Something tells her that’s not the only reason, like a little siren in the back of her head is going off.
It’s the same feeling she got when she noticed the disproportionate amount of time that Mike started spending with Will, as opposed to their other friends. When she noticed that they started sharing the bottom bunk of his bed rather than splitting up during sleepovers.
Her eyebrows quirk up ever so slightly. Really, it should be obvious. Billy isn’t even trying to hide it.
“He always has been,” she says.
Amused, Billy leans forward a little more. Lowers his voice like he’s making accusations in church.
“That why you decided to swing by unannounced?”
There’s no hint of danger just yet. Nancy knows it’s lurking around the corner, though, so she chooses her words wisely.
“Just… wanted to catch up.”
She shrugs nonchalantly, still stirring her coffee. Billy nods, but his eyes suddenly look dark. Like the surface of the ocean at night.
Eerily still and almost black in the absence of the moon.
“Sure,” he says. Stares hard at her for a moment, like he’s picking apart everything, reading her mind. It sends a chill up her spine. “Y’know what I want?”
Nancy stops stirring when his eyes flick down to her hand.
“What’s that?” she asks, almost breathless.
He taps his finger against the countertop, and his smile returns. It doesn’t feel as charming and suave as it did earlier.
Reminds Nancy of the fake smiles that the preppy girls would give her at school when she first started dating Steve. Come to think of it, it’s exactly that.
“I want you to call first next time.” He chews his lip while he thinks. “I want you to keep this little visit between us when you catch up,” he warns. Chuckles after a moment and tilts his head to the side. “And I want you to say hi to your mom for me when you leave. Think that’s too much for lil’ old me to ask?”
Nancy shakes her head, face burning now. Billy seems fairly pleased with that.
“I’ll… let myself out.”
“Door gets stuck, so be sure to pull hard on it.”
He waves goodbye before she even moves. Once she does turn away, he grabs her untouched mug and dumps it down the sink. She breathes a sigh of relief once she’s outside and the door is closed behind her.
It doesn’t feel good, leaving the trailer park with this rotten feeling stirring in her gut. Funnily enough, she’s not even mad at Billy.
She’s mad at herself.
As embarrassing as it is, she needed this. She’s glad it happened this way, because simply knowing that Steve is taken makes her heart feel a little lighter. Like she didn’t fuck him up too bad to find love.
Like she can finally let him go.
The walk of shame up the driveway to her parents’ house still makes her sick.
“Back so soon?” Karen asks. She has a pan of meatloaf ready to go into the oven. “I thought you’d be out for a while, I was gonna surprise you.”
The look on her face is disappointed, like the highlight of her night was going to be presenting her daughter with a fairly average meal. It does good to make Nancy think.
About how she’s been putting too much thought into things that don’t matter. About how she’s been worrying about things that are out of her control. Obsessing over them, even.
It makes her think about how she should have just been excited to eat her mother’s meatloaf and watch shitty movies with Mike.
From the start.
Nancy smiles, and Karen mimics it even though her plans are clearly ruined. She thinks they can fix it together.
“Billy says hi.”

I need to know the exact date and time wave three of the ST funko pops come out so I know when I can purchase Jonathan and Nancy and be sure to get them so they don’t get sold out by the serious collectors who are not going to take them down into their basement outside of the box to listen to a joy division and a cure vinyl and pretend that they are going out for a date.

It is genuinely ASTONISHING to see how many people are against your blog because they believe “it’s bad/weird to fantasize” or they say stuff like, “analyzing is fine. fantasizing is evil.” Actually fantasization is a divine gift, a spiritual experience, one of the best things we can do as humans. And most clearly Bylers agree!
They spend all day fantasizing about Mike and Will holding hands, going on dates, kissing, even ‘making out sloppily’ but the second we on the spicy side say that we want Byler to fuck, people start freaking out. How dare you fantasize?
Stick to analysis, freak.
Can someone please tell me why sex is such a big weird scandalous taboo? Have we gone back in time? Is this an evangelical youth group? Is this Catholic school? Are we Mormons? To fight back, some say, “Oh I’m not fantasizing, I’m just exploring the character dynamics” as if fantasizing will implicate them as some kind of dirty rotten sinner, as if this is some kind of gotcha that will expose fandom nonces.
But I don’t get it. I’m doing both, unapologetically! I’m exploring Byler’s dynamics, just like we do with ever other HC and canon analysis point, AND I’m fantasizing about them fucking like rabbits until the end of time, just like we fantasize about how the Byler kiss will go or how Mike will finally admit his sexuality.
Last time I checked, sex is part of sexuality, it’s literally in the name, and it’s a Divine Gift. Mike and Will are not disembodied beings who only want to hold hands and look at flowers all day. They are gay teenage boys who are sexually ravenous for each other. It’s clear this era of Puriteens didn’t devour Reddie or Stenborough smut under the covers while giggling and kicking their feet. And none of them would have SURVIVED the Harry Potter fandom.
The other side of this are the adult fancops who are siding with the puriteens and constantly trying to cancel Bylers for thinking unholy thoughts. You can only think analytical thoughts while wearing suits and taking cold showers. Meanwhile 65% of the fandom is openly attracted to Finn, and I’m supposed to be gaslit into thinking this doesn’t translate into their experience actually watching the show? I’m supposed to believe they watched him drool over Will’s ass and then said, “No, he didn’t do that”?
“But why aren’t you fantasizing about adult ships like J0pper or JAncy or or or-”
Because I don’t care about them? No offense. I’ve never read J0pper or JAncy fanfic in my life. And this isn’t J0pper Tumblr? It’s Byler Tumblr. I’m a Byler and naturally I want to see my favorite characters rail each other romantically? And it’s very, dare I say, unnatural and unrealistic when you read fanfics and Mike and Will kiss each other and don’t so much as get a boner. One boner?
I’m so tired. It’s utter gobbledegook.
Especially giving the context of what Stranger Things and Byler represents, it’s so obvious that sexual exploration is the natural evolution for these characters in their arcs in Season 5. Self-actualization and an embrace of the queer experience in all its sensuality and beauty.
The shame WILL be on the other side.
yeah, all great points! I think people get overprotective and hyper-vigilant, and they want to make sure they're taking a strong stand against their nebulous, exaggerated, hypothetical image of the shadowy "30-year old creep" getting off to Byler smut in a dark room.
but you're right that all Bylers "fantasize" about many things, even those most vocal in the analyze-only movement. technically all of Byler is "fantasizing," since they aren't together yet and they are fictional. we're all just envisioning scenarios and situations!
for some reason tho, people are chill with people daydreaming about every romantic scenario imaginable and chill with people conjuring up sad, tragic, angsty situations involving Vecna and bullying and pain. but sex? no. sex is shocking, alarming, and frightening.
also, this is definition of fantasize:
Tumblr media
there's nothing inherently creepy about that definition. It's neutral.

This season five scenario is 100% completely inspired by this post by @stargrlism
Jonathan and Will are staying with the Wheelers. Most likely Jonathan is meant to take the guest room or something but he sneaks into Nancy's room at night. We get a scene of Jancy in Nancy's bed together, laying facing each other and looking at each other with so much love. The camera is above them so the shot looks like this one:
Tumblr media
(Stole this image from that same post)
(Except this time they're facing each other like I said) So theyre gazing lovingly, but then Nancy averts her eyes, looking suddenly upset. In this moment she is reminded of how deeply she loves Jonathan. And with everything going on and all of them being in danger every day, she is terrified of losing him. She knows that losing him would destroy her, and that scares her. Jonathan obviously picks up on her sudden change of mood and asks her what's wrong.
Then we get a different angle, maybe something like this one:
Tumblr media
(Except Jonathan would prop up on his elbow or something and be facing her, so they're both in frame?)
Then Nancy quietly admits that she's scared of losing him. Maybe she just simply says, "I can't lose you." And Jonathan understands what she means.
Jonathan reassures her, "Hey. You're not gonna lose me. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere." And they share a soft tender lil kiss. We can tell from Nancy's face that his words put her at ease. Then Jonathan pulls Nancy into him and holds her tight.
Then we cut DIRECTLY to Will and Mike in Mike's bedroom.
(At this point they have not confessed their feelings for each other. But Mike and El have broken up. And Mike and Will have been attached at the hip, there's been plenty of gay pining, and more heart to hearts and flirting, basically just status quo of what we saw in season four.)
The shot is a birds eye view, above them just just like the first shot of the previous Jancy scene. But this shot is wider because it includes both Mike's bed and the floor next to it, where Will is laying in a sleeping bag or maybe on a mattress on the floor. They are both staring up at the ceiling, wide awake.
Then Mike quietly asks if Will is awake. Will responds, "Yeah." And there is a beat of silence that goes on just a little too long to be comfortable, when Mike reluctantly asks, "Can you... can you just come up here?"
We see the surprise on Will's face. He lays still for a second before saying, "Yeah," for a second time, and climbing into Mike's bed.
Now we get the tighter shot that looks more like this one:
Tumblr media
Except probably they're both still staring at the ceiling (not into the camera though, only Jonathan gets to do that). They're on edge laying so close to each other, they're both nervous.
After a few moments Will clears his throat and asks, "You okay?"
Mike turns to face Will, and Will mirrors him. Now the angle changes again and we get the shot that parallels the previous Jancy scene of them looking at each other.
Mike now essentially admits to Will that he's scared of losing him, but it's different than Nancy's confession. In part so that the scenes aren't too similar and they don't feel redundant, but also because Nancy didn't need to elaborate much, as she and Jonathan are established and he knew what she was feeling. Will doesn't know what Mike is feeling.
Mike says something like, "I feel like I'm still messing up with you." Mike is concerned about losing Will due to his own actions (or lack of action) in addition to being scared about Vecna.
Will seems a little caught of guard as he asks, "What do you mean?" Will is far too in love with Mike to hold a grudge even if he wanted to.
Mike looks nervous as he says, "I don't know. I just. I feel like... things are better between us, but they're not how they used to be."
We see the guilt on Will’s face. He thinks that their friendship not returning to the way it once was is his fault. His fault for having these feelings and for hiding them.
But then Mike continues, "And I feel like it's my fault because I'm not being honest with you."
Will looks surprised again and asks, "What aren't you being honest about?"
And Mike looks incredibly anxious as he responds, "I can't tell you. I... I don't want to lose you."
Will's face softens as he firmly says, "You won't. Mike, you won't."
Mike nods as the tears start to flow, and he see Will pause for a moment, deciding whether this is a good idea before pulling Mike into him and hugging him tightly.
Mike begins to cry, and Will rubs his back subtlety with his fingers (exactly how he did in Max's hospital room).
"You're stuck with me." Will jokes, but Mike doesn't laugh, just hugs him tighter, his face buried in Will’s chest.
End scene. We don't get our confession quite yet. But obviously Will is now wondering what Mike isn't being honest about. He soon finds out that Mike is hiding the fact that he's in love with him. Confessions happen, kisses happen, the audience cheers, we have world peace.

The anon that sent in the time traveling thing made me think of something. What if in the future Jonathan and Nancy's kid becomes best friends with Steve and readers kid? Like I feel like they'd live in different states but come back to Hawkins to see family at the same time and their kids just click like how reader and Jonathan did all those years ago.I also feel like those kids would be repulsed that their parents dated. I feel like Jonathan is the kind of guy to have a carbon copy kid. Like exactly like him, shy and nerdy. I feel like Steve and bug would have a perfect mix tbh.
I've also thought about the future children getting sent back to the past and just being horrified. Like imagine seeing your "uncle Jonathan" kiss your mom. Or see your teenage dad sneak into your mom's room through her window. Or watch your dad helplessly pine over your mom, and watch your mom get her heart broken by her best friend. They'd be disgusted, truly traumatized. Idk I'm just constantly daydreaming about your story and these are the kinds of scenarios that pop into my little brain.
PLEASE I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
their kids would 1000% be besties even though they def live in different states once theyre older. unsure where, but id definitely move outta hawkins tbh.
jancys kids would be astounded that their parents were at some point attracted to/in love with bug and steve because like. theyre so emotional and dramatic. meanwhile jancy hasnt had one emotional outburst their entire childhood and theyre FLOORED.
theyd also be shocked because jancys kids are more lowkey, calm and shy kids but very confident and intelligent. maybe two kids, possibly just the one. meanwhile bug and steves kids ,,, dear god. theyd have a LOT of kids and all the kids would be pure lovely chaos. theyd tease their parents and gag and think its all so gross and weird and the adults are just like ,,,, it was a different time, then
bonus:
one of bugs kids: mom why were you so in love with uncle jon ? no offense, but hes kinda weird
bug: yeah, i look back and wonder that myself
jonathan: im right here you know
steve: your mom needed some sense knocked into her
nancy: i agree
jonathan: now what the fuck
also i love ur lil brain and the fact that u think about my story sm i will kiss u

Okay, I'm gonna try outsourcing my writing motivation and see how that works out, so...
Old Faithful: Nancy realizes that she digs making Jonathan come prematurely. She tests this very scientifically (by trying to make him come in increasingly ridiculous but not obnoxiously inconsiderate scenarios), then gets her world rocked in ch. 2 after he figures out the game.
misogyny strikes again (just the file name, not the title): Joyce and Jonathan have a deeply shitty encounter when she gets her car fixed. It's hard being isolated and the butt of every joke in town.
Untitled Stoncy: Look, I don't know what to tell you about this one. Steve is accidentally sort of in charge and it kind of works for everyone to let him boss them around. There's spitroasting, and I'm not saying who.
cleaned up with a wise mind: A please don't wake me installment in which Karen finds out she's pregnant, comforts a drunken Joyce, and gives some recipes to twelve-year-old Jonathan, recently liberated from Lonnie's presence and pinging several of Karen's "I'm worried about this child and not sure what to do about it" alarms. (She also represses some queer yearning for Joyce. I'm only human.)
Hues, Tints, & Shades: Jonathan and Steve, still kind of getting to know each other, hang out and talk about music, drugs, and existential crises, then realize that they'd perhaps not be averse to dating.
Apotropaic: El and Max get drunk and maudlin together after the Starcourt Mall fiasco and have a tipsy teen girl talk.
I can't even describe to you how many WIPs and how many tens of thousands of words of fic I've got sitting around unfinished, but those seem promising at the moment.
