Can I maybe get a platonic thing where reader is dating one of Chilchucks daughters (probably flertom) but is also an adventurer themselves and join the party hoping to get their girlfriends dad to like them?
`✦ ˑ ִֶ 𓂃⊹ hi anon!!! ofc you can! <33 i hope this turned out okay, i wrote it in between clients at work, LOL. it’s short but sweet, and i had fun imagining chil being protective!
Tumblr media
— CHILCHUCK (& FLERTOM): platonic!chil x gn!reader hcs.
꒰ warnings: ꒱ none! sfw + chil being protective dad, lol.
꒰ wc: ꒱ 627
✦ going insane bc tumblr deleted it right as i was about to post it. sobs. but i hope you enjoy it!! (;;w;;)
Tumblr media
✦ When you first joined the party, it was under the guise that you just needed a group to help you get to the lower levels. Laios being who he is, was more than happy to get your help with the rest of the members.
✦ You had an ulterior motive, one you wouldn’t be revealing so soon: the goal to get your girlfriend’s dad to approve of you. Flertom had told you before that it was totally fine, and that you shouldn’t worry yourself too much over it. She loved you, and that’s all that should matter. Yet, you found yourself unhappy to know that not only did he not know of your existence in her life, but that he hadn’t given you his blessing.
✦ Making sure not to let too much slip, you did your absolute best to get the man to like you. Whether it be staying out of his way while he worked or by showing your own worth, you worked extremely hard to get on his good side.
✦ Occasionally you’d talk about your girlfriend, mainly how much you adored her and that she made you really content. Chilchuck would hum, mulling over everything you said. It never occurred to him that you’d be talking about his daughter of all people, but he’d give you advice once in a while about certain things.
✦ Chilchuck thought you were a good asset. You stayed in your own lane yet brought about your own skills, something he valued. Your interest in his work made him a little happy as well, and it was nice to have someone around his daughters’ age in the party. It made him miss his own kids a lot.
✦ It had been a good while of you being in the party, and you felt it was finally time to show your true motive. You waited until Chilchuck was relaxed, enjoying a drink as everyone made camp.
“You know, there’s something I haven’t told you about myself,” you began, a tinge of nervousness in your voice. You had worked so hard to build up the reputation you had with him, and didn’t want to tear it all down in one sitting.
Chilchuck raised an eyebrow at you, taking a sip of his drink. His silence was a push to keep talking.
“I’m… My girlfriend is Flertom.” The words weren’t rushed, in fact they left you in an exhale of relief that they finally were spoken. Meanwhile, you felt the fear return to your chest when Chilchuck choked on his drink.
After his coughing fit, the half-foot banged on his chest, turning to look at you incredulously. “My daughter is your girlfriend? This whole time, it’s been her?!”
✦ After that talk, he didn’t speak to you for a little while. It was discouraging, but you tried your best to give him the space he needed. When you seemed down more than usual one day, he turned his attention to you and sighed.
✦ “You know, I’ve been thinking… I guess if you’re the one with her, it’s not too bad… You’re an okay kid.” You immediately perked up at his words, before he stuck out an accusatory finger at you.
✦ “But! If you hurt her, or break her heart, or anything like that, you’re gonna have to go through me. Got it?” His voice came out in a tone that had you glued to the floor, but you nodded as quickly as you could. You’ll definitely keep that in mind.
✦ Chilchuck thought back to the letter he had received, with how happy Fler had seemed with you. Well… He guesses that if it stays the way it is now… He’d be fine with it.
✦ For now.

Stripping The Pretty Boy Author
Me, an ENM writer here on tumblr, got a taste of my own medicine when I walked into the wrong place, at the wrong time…
“Come on guys, just let me go, I promise I won’t tell anyone” I said, my hands in the air in a vain attempt to shield myself from what I was sure was going to be a beating.
“No, we need something on you to keep your mouth shut….let’s have your clothes” their leader said. My cheeks turned red as he said so, even more when his buddies nodded their agreement, a few even eyed me up and down with excitement.
‘What?! No way, I’m not taking my clothes off!” I said, putting my arms up as a defense in case they decided to change their minds. In fact, I hoped they did change their minds…I didn’t want to lose my clothes!
“Then we’ll have to do it for you…strip him naked!” the head gang member said. His cronies jumped at his command, and I was overwhelmed as two of them tackled me to the ground. A third started to take off my shoes and once I was held down, a fourth helped him and soon enough my feet were bare.
“Nooooo, not naked! Please!” I said, but my pleas fell on deaf ears as I felt hands unbuttoning the top buttons of my shirt and felt multiple pairs of hands undoing my belt.
“Yes, time to get nude pretty boy,” the gang leader said, crossing his arms and smiling deviously.
“Come on guys, please, don’t do this” I said to the guys holding me down, but they each smiled wickedly and shook their heads at me.
“Oh no pretty boy, you're gonna get naked whether you like it or not” one of them said, a blonde dude that was rather lanky, rather embarrassing that someone like him overpowered me so easily, even with help.
“Come on, let’s get his shirt off” the blonde said and the two helped finish unbuttoning my shirt, but the blonde got a crazed look in his eyes and he tugged at the fabric, sharing a look at his fellows. The three of them understood perfectly as they descended upon me and each grabbed handfuls of my shirt and pulled…sounds of ripping and tearing fabric bared my chest to them all and they discarded the remains of my shirt.
“Okay guys you made your point…please let me go” I said, and they allowed me to stand up but they stayed near me to make sure I didn’t try to run off.
“Not a chance, haha, nice nipples, pretty boy” the blonde said, giving my nipples a twist, his friends following suit, which made my cock twitch and start to harden in my pants. The blonde noticed and he looked at the gang leader again and said:
“Should we take off his pants?” he asked. I struggled uselessly against their iron grip as they grabbed me, dreading the words I knew I’d hear from their boss…
“Great idea, rip 'em off” he said, and while they weren’t looking I saw him kneading his crotch, the sight of it caused me to blush even deeper.
“No, please guys, not my pants!” I begged, my cock growing harder, it was nearly at full erection and my cheeks burned hot at having these guys see it…
“Quiet pretty boy…now boys, let’s rip off his pants!” the blonde said and again, multiple hands reached down, the blonde unbuttoned and unzipped my pants while the others pulled off my belt completely.
“Please! I’m begging you!” I said as they started to pull at my pants like they did my shirt, and while tougher, I could hear rips and tears in the fabric
“Look at that, pretty boy here is begging for his clothes” the blonde said, pulling the sides of the waist part of my pants.
“Well unfortunately for him…he ain’t leaving here unless he’s naked!” one of his friends said, tearing open my pants leg. Just then, I heard a loud RIIIPPPPP and I could feel cold air on my thighs as the blond ripped open the seat of my pants, and his friends then finished pulling and tearing my pants to shreds, leaving me in just my undies…
“Wow, look at those undies! He’s practically naked already!” the blonde said, laughing with wicked delight, and I hung my head in shame.
“Awww, what’s the matter, pretty boy? Is your cock too small?” the gang leader said, and my cock twitched in response.
“No…the opposite problem, but come on guys just let me go!” I said, but the group of them had noticed my crotch now, and all eyes were on the huge boner I was sporting, and I knew they weren’t done…not until they saw everything I was packing.
“Sorry pretty boy, we’re gonna need those undies off too, what a shame” the blonde said, sarcastically apologetic and he grabbed a side of my undies, hooking his fingers beneath the waistband.
“Yeah! Almost naked pretty boy…those undies have got to go!” one of his friends said and grabbed the other side of my undies, and together they slowly inched them downwards, slowly and tortuously completing my exposure at their hands, until finally my cock broke free and slapped against me.
“Ha! Look at his hard cock you guys! not bad pretty boy” the blonde said, even slapping my cock with his bare hand, making me whimper. They let my arms go and I instinctively covered myself with my hands.
“How’s it feel to be naked, huh, pretty boy? You feel humiliated?” the gang leader said as he took photos of me in my naked and embarrassed state.
“Now, move those hands behind your back, let’s get a good look at your cock” he said, and when I didn’t respond the blonde and his friend did it for me as they forced my arms behind me, exposing my hard cock once more.
“Wow, very nice cock pretty boy, too bad you likely don’t know how to use it since you're such a bitch, now…turn around and show us your ass” the leader said. This time, I obeyed and turned around to expose my cheeks, and felt the blond on my left slap my bare ass, making me whimper but I also bit my lip to disguise how turned on it made me.
“Very good, pretty boy…now spread your cheeks and show us your hole!” he said, and again, I obeyed, just hoping this whole ordeal would be over soon. Once he was satisfied, I stood up and turned back around to face them, and they were all smiling as I stood there, completely naked with my cock rock hard between my legs.
“Alright, now can I go? And can I get some clothes, please?” I asked, hoping that my complete and utter humiliation would satisfy them.
“No pretty boy, you're our naked slave now, and pretty bitch boys don’t deserve to wear clothes…” the leader said, and nodded to his minions who grabbed me, bound my arms behind me, and covered my mouth with a gag.
As they started to lead me away, the blonde stopped and said “Hey guys, before we take him back…let’s make him cum!” the blonde said, eyeing my cock hungrily, which throbbed with anticipation.
“Hehe, great idea Steven, you get to do the honors, go on, let’s see him squirt his cum for us” the leader said, opening his phone to record the whole thing.
“Will do” the blonde…Steven, said. He wrapped his hand around my hard shaft, gripping it tightly and making me groan into the gag in my mouth. He expertly started to slowly jerk me off, before steadily increasing his pace, pleasuring my cock so nicely I couldn’t help but moan and whimper as the pressure began to build in my cock.
“That’s right pretty boy, squirt your cum for us” Steven said, going faster now and my legs twitched and my knees turned to jelly as I could feel my body betraying me and my orgasm quickly coming to fruition despite myself.
I groaned loudly into my gag and my body tightened as Steven pointed my cock upwards and I felt my cock burst as I shot my load straight onto my chest. It was one of the largest loads I’d ever blown, and now it dripped all over my naked body.
The others, now satisfied, didn’t bother to clean me up nor did they offer me to do it myself…instead they led me away, to whatever they had in store for me, and I knew that my humiliation…had only just begun
(I hope you all enjoyed this little short story for you all, and yes that is me in the photo, I decided you should see your author stripped for those of you who don’t have a twitter!)

Let’s Talk about the Multiverse of Madness (objectively)
This is your only warning about spoilers for this movie so if you don’t have ‘spoilers’ blacklisted you have been warned. Also, this is gonna get pretty dark so also be warned for that.
Now that I have gotten the hype of watching this movie out of my system, I can now put my more tame thoughts into form. I did some reading on other peoples’ opinions about the film before writing this, so I am aware of their qualms with the film. However, this is my opinion about the film. I am also someone who has been a fan of Doctor Strange for almost ten years now (scary to think about when you realize I have been through Stephen’s entire MCU history from fruition to now on tumblr) and I have read the comics, so I know most of the lore.
Now, you don’t have to go into this film with much background information outside of the first film, Infinity War, and Wandavision, but if you know the lore like I do, you’re going to love this film. And loved this film I did so much I’m debating about going to the theater to watch it again, it was that good after thinking some things over. (Disclaimer I did not watch Wandavision and am not going to shovel money for Disney+ to watch Wandavision.)
I am going to touch upon all aspects of the film including lore, the future of the frachise, other people’s opinions, and what some people have seemed to missed with the theme of the film.
The first thing is that there is technically no villain, only a threat. That threat being Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch. This is someone who currently is going through mental distress to the point of obsession. The way some phrases such as how she explained her thoughts on how she felt about taking the Mind Stone out of Vision’s head was a very human way of tackling the big theme of the film, which was based around the actions of the characters, their consequences and how they affected the people around them, and how they dealt with the hand they’ve been given in life whether it be good or bad.
Wanda just happened to take her shitty hand and turn it up to 11 by going on a multiverse murder spree.
When Wanda killed herself, it wasn’t out of force, it was out of choice because of the sheer amount of guilt she felt over the things she did. You know, like a very depressed person with no more strings to grasp at. So they do the sudoku.
Wanda is supposed to be the negative representation to Stephen how people deal with loss and trauma. Stephen doesn’t understand what Wanda is going through because he has difficulty relating to others. It took seeing himself with the powers of the Darkhold and what it did to him to realize that he should move on from Christine and not be afraid of being truly alone like he has since his accident. This is represented by not fixing his watch that he broke during the accident in the first film until the very end of this one to show that he has moved on. It was his symbol of attachment of craving that love and affection of one person, just like in Wanda’s case where she wanted the love and affection of her ‘children’. She wanted what most of the other Avengers got after Infinity War which was closure or happiness to their lives and used whatever means she could get her hands on to make herself happy without being aware of the damage it was causing.
Stephen could have had easily just given in and used the Darkhold to whisk himself away to a universe where he still was a surgeon and he had Christine’s love. Stephen could have easily took America’s power with no remorse, but instead he told her to trust herself that she could control her power. Even despite having a similar internal battle that Wanda had decided to side with. No matter how much they tried to rationally reason with her, to help her see the turth of what she was doing was unreasonable and unethichal, she had made her choice to give in to her demons and delusions. You never saw the battle with Stephen, but the signs were there.
Initially when this movie was announced to be in the genre of horror, there were two things I wanted way back when. 1. Tentacles (because it isn’t Doctor Strange if you don’t have tentacles) 2. Stephen’s emotional trauma and a fight with his sanity because of the guilt he had to carry in Infinity War.
I got both of those in spades.
Stephen is a very emotional person. He truly does care about people and his actions. He carries his guilt if he screws up and when he royally screwed up with the incursions, he was clinging to having the acceptance of Christine to care for him just like after his accident when the entire world had abandoned him. He was afraid of being alone. Just. like. Wanda.
I have seen some people say that Michael Waldron who was a writer for Loki and this movie ruined Loki and Stephen by putting them under powerful women, but I disagree with Stephen’s case. Wanda doesn’t overshadow him, it’s just the dynamic of how they are presenting themselves and dealing with their issues is on the opposite ends of the spectrum: Wanda is more external and vocal while Stephen is more reserved about it. It took him the entire movie to speak up and say ‘yeah I’m scared of losing you and being alone’.
Stephen and Wanda’s internal battles with achieving happiness was something I related to on a personal level. Always wanting to have what you want, not being aware of what other people may think of what you’re doing or for how they feel about the situation. I’ve been through that multiple times with multiple people. It’s only until recently that I’ve been able to realize that there have been people in my life, mostly outside of the internet who have been strong-willed enough to call me out on my bullshit instead of letting me continue to make a fucking ass of myself and realize that I have more potential than I ever realized. And it’s not only them, you have to be patient enough to listen to what they have to say to realize the truth about yourself through the lens of others and be willing to seek help when a shoulder is there for you to lean on. And this instance, I cared enough about these people to seek the help I needed to be able to become a better person.
There are multiple quotes throughout the Buddhist doctrine about the moon, its reflection, and relating it to mindfulness. The one that comes to mind when I think about the film is the monkey grabbing for the moon’s reflection in the water. It is grabbing for an illusion while the real thing is above in the sky, illuminating the night.
Basically the entire theme of Multiverse of Madness can be summed up in this trailer for another film, which is actually a documentary.
youtube
Something else that a lot of people, I guess forgot when watching this movie, is that Stephen is just a Master of the Mystic Arts and not the Sorcerer Supreme. It just dawned on me when I was watching MoistCritikal’s review on the film that Stephen being underpowered and having “unimpressive magic” and not being able to completely subdue Wanda, someone with the power of a literal demon at her disposal who could mow the sorcerers of Kamar-taj 10 times over, is actually very fitting for this film.
The original run of Doctor Strange comics from the 80′s and 90′s are named in this order. 1. Doctor Strange: Master of the Mystics Arts 2. Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme
We are just hit 1.5 in Stephen’s journey in the MCU with the introduction to the next leg of his journey. You know it, I know it, there is gonna be a third movie. Stephen’s going to become Sorcerer Supreme either because Wong dies or we finally get to see the Vishanti in their physical forms and see them give the mantle to Stephen for kicking Dormammu’s ass with the science of judo.
No, I am not making that shit up.
Tumblr media
This is getting long already and I haven’t even talked about the other aspects of this film which are the lore and the horror.
Imma start with the latter: this is a PG-13 film, so gore is limited, but Sam Raimi definitely knew where to push the boundaries with this film and there were some moments that did actually scare me. Wanda contorting out of the gong? Black Bolt’s death? Slicing Peggy Carter in half? BREAKING PROFESSOR XAVIER’S NECK ON SCREEN?! Oh yeah, and the zombie makeup at the end was a breath of fresh air to be real instead of some CGI garbage. The cinematography in a lot of the shots was really really good or unique, especially when Wanda was dreamwalking for the first time as it switched back to her in both bodies was really good. Though scene with the slowing of time to get a jump scare in was kind of cheap.
I know I haven’t really talked about America Chavez because in all honesty, she was the just macguffin of the movie, so I really don’t have much to say except she was there to do her thing and we found out Stephen can’t speak Spanish which is hilarious. Oh, and this is what made me give this movie the praise it deserves. They gave the biggest middle finger to China in particular of showing America’s parents who are canonically lesbians on screen and there is absolutely no way you can edit it out of the film without losing some important backstory to America’s character so anyone watching this without her parents on screen will be confused as fuck as to how America got to where she was in the movie.
But now it’s on to what made this movie, for me, grin from ear to ear. All of the lore and Easter Eggs stuff within it for the Doctor Strange fans who know the ins and outs of this stupid wizard. This is not your lame ass list on the basic aspects of the movie, this is stuff that you never knew was a thing or I thought it was a nice touch to add in for continuity sake.
1. Zombie Stephen is actually Stephen from this version of the Defenders from 2011 where he slept with a college student.
Tumblr media
Once again, I did not make that up.
2. Rintrah, the green bull from Doctor Strange Sorcerer Supreme is one of the students at Kamar-taj
Tumblr media
3. We actually get to see what that thing did from the original movie that Stephen held at Kaecilius
4. APPARENTLY (I saw from another post) the shirt at the very end of movie that Stephen is wearing is Tony’s shirt from Iron Man 2. I don’t know if this is real or a shitpost someone made.
5. The Illuminati is here and not only did Wanda kill them, 4 out of 6 of their original members are now canon in the MCU (Professor Xavier, Reed Richards, Black Bolt, and Doctor Strange). I don’t know what the MCU is gonna do with Namor and RDJ probably was not worth it for a cameo to die again on screen.
Tumblr media
7. The post credits scene outfit and the third eye? Doctor Strange 2015.
Tumblr media
8. Also need I mention the one thing that people had no fucking clue about the post credits scene who she was and was literally confused about
Tumblr media
But the instant she came on screen I lost my goddamned mind
9. We saw the Savage Lands in the multiverse hop.
10. Spells I noticed were the Rings of Raggadorr and Vipers of Valtorr
11. His backstory with his sister Donna was changed from drowning during a summer family trip to drowning in a frozen pond
Other things I saw that weren’t kind of ‘basic Doctor Strange lore’ was The Sands of Nisanti was taken from the comic book series ‘The Oath’
IN CONCLUSION: I don’t know what my conclusion was. This movie is a solid 9.5/10 for people who know the lore, 8/10 for general audiences Yes, Clea does make up a whole point just for getting a cameo. and the extra half point is for the lesbians.

Fanon vs Canon
Alright y’all buckle in cause this is gonna be a long one. Here lately I have seen a lot of discourse over fanon and canon and frankly I am growing tired of it. I by no means think that this post will be the end all be all of this discourse, but I am hoping to at least shed some light on the importance of fanon and its impact on content, especially in regards to comics and accessibility.
TL;DR: Everything boils down to if you don’t like something there is absolutely no need to comment on it or interact with it :) Comics are hard to get access to and canon can be hard to experience. Fanon is a crucial part of fan culture.
Recently, I have started devoting a lot of my time towards the Batman fandom, as superheroes have been something I’ve loved for a while and something just clicked when I first found Young Justice back when it was still on Netflix. I watched all the episodes and then realized afterwards I wasn’t content with the amount of content I got regarding my boy Dick Grayson, so I switched over to AO3 to find anything more. There I was introduced to the extended BatFam and that led me to reading exclusively Batman fanfiction so I could see more of these four brothers. A few years passed, my hyperfixation changed to Sanders Sides, and now I’m back neck deep in Batman. I don’t know what triggered it this time but I’m super happy to be here. Let me get to the point; I got into the Batman fandom through Young Justice fanfiction.
So why does that matter? Well, I tried to find a way to read all the comics so I’d have an understanding of canon so I could make my own content because I had just gotten out of a fandom where I was creating content regularly and I wanted to continue. I couldn’t find a way to read them, so I stuck to just reading fanfiction and finding stuff on Tumblr and slowly I stopped wanting to create things. I was too nervous that I wouldn’t abide enough by canon that I’d get roasted for what I created. The second thing I posted I even clarified that I hadn’t read the comics and that my knowledge came from fanfiction and so this was based on my canon and I still had people in my inbox and on the post telling me that I wasn’t being canon compliant. Which I wasn’t trying to be. This put the brakes on me creating again for a bit, but this time I got angry and started thinking of new ways to make things.
Still, I was seeing things about canon vs. fanon and how fanon was bad for changing characters. I decided not to care and now we have the Alternative Introduction AU I so love creating for. I thought about Sanders Sides and how that had been a big issue in the fandom, people characterizing characters differently from canon. I contributed this largely to a lack of content, the issue with Batman is that there is so much content.
Comics are weird. There are many timelines, versions, writers, etc. Canon changes writer to writer, and frankly I think that allows for a lot of different interpretations. Others, however, try to pick a set way characters should be. One of the biggest, or at least most memorable to me, was Tim Drake and his coffee addiction. Fans latched onto it, whether they saw it as funny or relatable or whatever, it became very popular. It made sense and people enjoyed it. This is great! People are engaging with the media, making it enjoyable for them, and expanding on characters in a fun way while forming connections with other members of the fandom. Then, I started to see people angry about this little thing people saw Tim Drake doing. This anger only grew when it happened to make its way into a comic. I think it was like one panel? No matter, it wasn’t big but I know people who got mad. They got mad that fanon became canon cause they didn’t agree with it.
Here’s the thing we have to think about; media convergence. Henry Jenkins researches Fan Studies and Culture and has an entire book about it. I am not gonna cite directly because that is a lot of work and honestly I am tired. But, the big idea is that fandom is ever evolving and changing across multiple platforms. No one can actually have all the knowledge in a fandom, it’s impossible. This idea of media convergence shows a shift in how we view culture in general. Media has become more participatory than in the past where most interaction came from spectation. People are seeking to make connections across different forms of media which leads to the adoption of fanon.
Where am I going with this? I have laid out a lot of pieces but some have lacked connection, so here we go. Comics can largely be inaccessible, leading to people seeking out the information in other ways as Henry Jenkins discusses, this leads to an adoption of different headcanons creating fanon. Now, how does this tie into my personal experience in creating content? I am not alone in the fear of retribution for not following the strict guides of canon. I was able to move on from it, mainly because I am full of spite and anger and ready to fight at the drop of a hat, but not everyone is comfortable doing that. How many people are we keeping from fandoms in general because of adherence to canon? I am wary of using the word gatekeeping because there is a trend of people moving towards dismissal of anything using the word, but this is what it is.
Gatekeeping is occurring in a different way than normal. In this instance the strict adherence to canon is pushing out those who cannot find a way to get ahold of comics or don’t have the time to parse through everything. I was one of those people, hell I still have issues getting a hold of comics and even though I know how to pirate them now, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I have the time to go back and read everything. In addition to having multiple iterations of one character, comics also present the unique challenge of having multiple writers per character per timeline. I know in one of the only comics I’ve read that was released recently, Dick is twelve when Bruce gets him and that his parents are shot instead of falling. Batman kidnaps him and purposefully antagonizes the Justice League, which he isn’t a part of. From fanfiction, I know that Dick was eight in a lot of iterations, that his parents fell because the lines to their trapeze had acid on them, that Batman is a founding member of the Justice League and among other differences.
What does this mean? Canon isn’t clear cut and can be confusing. Strict adherence to this idea of what is right and wrong leads to the lack of participation in fandom spaces, and can even oust people who would otherwise enjoy this space. Fanon is fun, hurts no one, and provides spaces for creative liberty. If you don’t like how people are characterizing your favorite character, simply don’t read it. (This is different from people attacking characters, which if anyone wants that essay I’ll write it but that isn’t what I’m here for today.) Why are you so annoyed at people enjoying headcanons? If it has become fanon, that means it is widely liked, why do you feel like you have the authority to dictate how characters are? Besides, this is fandom/fanfiction/fan interactions, they aren’t canon. This is fans having fun and should be regarded that way. Shitting on other people's interpretations can and has stopped people from contributing their own fan content and limits the amount of growth a fandom can experience. Basically, it boils down to if you don’t like something there is absolutely no need to comment on it or interact with it :)
I could go on with the idea of fan service, but once again I am tired. If anyone wants that essay let me know lmao and I’ll work on it.

I am devastated. My local comic book store is shutting down (TT.TT) Comfort me Tumblr.
I had been trying to order a variant cover for a comic I saw on Tumblr for about two weeks. The computer was down for the second week but they told me to come and try again the following week. So, I just mozy on over with my sister in the car to make a quick order the following week.... just to see CLOSING all over the windows.
Not gonna lie I kept wondering i it was my fault...did I not buy enough comics due to the inflation everwhere else?! was that why I hadn’t see as many new issues on display!
The owner told me he got a really good offer from Delta for a job he couldn’t bring himself to refuse(whether is the airline or the bank i didn’t ask) and that he was closing this chapter of his life.
Something understandable and I’m happy for the guy but damn it I wasn’t prepared for this loss! It was  a good distance from where i live! not too close but not too far. I knew how to get to it without GPS!
and it wasn’t large enough to be overwhelming. The big stores are nice but I could browse the entire store fairly quickly.
(If i go to a place thats too large with too many things I feel like the little brother of the Witch from Terry Pratchett who loves candy but when been given too much candy or brought into a candy store is overwhelmed and distressed at the possibility. because part of the bro senses that no matter how much he tries he might not be able to eat all the candy and is overwhelmed on where to start....frozen not being able to eat the candy at all in the existential horror of the situation).
I also did not prepare for a sale of liquidation of those comics? do I go in and get as much as I can? or pace myself since I never planned the need to get so many comics so DON’T give into the sale bug
Damn it I don’t want to go to Dave’s Comics! its close enough to be a option to consider by definitely far away enough to be a actual inconvenience! and its large! I got lost in there once!
The first edition’s comic store will always be in my heart...and now forever in my memories.
bright side is the owner said “the worst thing about this is telling my customers. Its like breaking up with 800 people!” which is just hilarious on principle.

Seeing all the discourse about tumblr algorithm n interactions n tingz
I still don’t get why people really struggle to just do the right thing. Like bro atp it’s easy as breathing.
I literally like and reblog just abt everything I interact with that I enjoy (on both my main and side). Majority of the time with at least a few comments in the tags if not on the reblog itself (tho that’s more on the writing side blog than the main for other random shit lmao).
‘S Kinda sad cus atp I think a part of me has accepted that aside from moots i’m prolly never gonna get the interaction I desire. Majority of all my notes on my writing blog? Just likes. I get reblogs here and there but most of the time that isn’t even on my actual content. Just other stuff I’ve reblogged.
Not to say I’ve never gotten reblogs on content I have created myself, but it’s a stark contrast to the amount of likes. And it’s is extremely rare that a non-moot will leave a comment or tags.
Idk. Just makes you feel lonely sometimes? Cus it’s not even really about trying to be famous or have a lot of followers anymore lmao. Just want people to talk to.
It’s understandable you may not want to reblog absolutely everything. Not even I always do it. But the vast majority of the time I am doing it. Because people deserve to know that something they created actually touched someone?
Screaming into the void is valid and what most blogs have to start out doing but that should not have to be something they have to deal with forever.
Cus at that point what even is the purpose of posting works to some website if you’re basically still just keeping it to yourself?
People have said it time and time again, but likes are worthless here.
Like if you equate it to instagram I guess (so maybe ppl will understand it better)
Tumblr likes = Instagram views
On instagram views are cool and all, but they’re faceless and don’t really do anything to promote a post and allow others to see it. Even if there are a lot of views, it isn’t extremely validating (high numbers or not). It’s the people in the comments saying stuff that matters, and likes that help the post. Like Instagram views, Tumblr likes do nothing and though there may be a lot they are not really validating or helping the post.
Tumblr reblogs = Instagram likes (+ shares)
Both of these functions on the respective websites help a post to get more seen. Instagram likes only function is to help promote posts. Tumblr’s reblogs are a little different in that you have to ability to say things while you help promote (in tags or on the post itself). Basically they’re like instagram likes and shares smooshed together. If you don’t want to do the extra work of using your words fine, but at least actually share the thing you are enjoying so others see it. Whether or not it matches your theme or not, do it. It’s your blog and if you like a post then yeet it on there. If your followers (if you have any) followed you for a specific type of content and your worried about them, fuck ‘em. Share what you want on your blog.
Tumblr comments = Instagram comments
This one is self explanatory they are the same ooga booga
N e ways that’s a lot of words I’ll get off my soapbox now.
Love u Jo 💋.
I was done talking about this but you put so much thought and effort into this Dere I think it deserves to be addressed.
Especially the point you made that it can be so lonely on here sometimes and I think it’s hard when everyone already seems like they’re in their own little friendship groups and stuff. But like some of my closest friends on here are my friends because we reblogged each other’s fics and screamed in the tags!!
I think people tell themselves “oh that person won’t care if I send them an ask/message.” But it’s like they would, everyone would🥺💕

I just LOVE Amber! I honestly think out of all the girls, she would be the most positive girl for him to be around. I’m always hoping to see more content with the two of them.
The other two….I’m just not sure about. I liked stas in the videos, and I think she gets more hate than she deserves. Sure, I understand why a lot of the fandom don’t like her. But we don’t know everything that happened in full detail. You know what they say about assuming…
And the other, Shea, the history with her seems a bit odd. But again, we don’t know every single detail about the two of them. And quite frankly it’s none of our business 🤷🏼‍♀️
I honestly feel bad for Colby. No matter what he will get hate for any girls he’s seen with. Must be exhausting for him. The fandom needs to chill tf out a bit. I understand having a ‘celebrity crush’, but hell you gotta know you won’t ever be with him. (Sorry this was a long post lol, but I’ve been holding this in for awhile. Btw love your tumblr! 💕)
oh i love amber as well. i found her just before she started hanging out with colby so it was perfect timing when they started collabing. i love the two of them together and i hope that they collab again soon. i genuinely love every video they've made together.
as for the other girls, i get the sentiment of not wanting to assume or not know the whole picture, and i agree with that for the most part. personally i have always been of the belief that if colby is happy, than i'm happy for him. even if i don't like them, i'm not gonna be upset at him for hanging out with them. especially with shea. he clearly is happy when he's around her, and bc of that i wouldn't want him to lose her if he really does feel the way i assume he does feel.
but, just bc we don't know the whole picture, doesn't mean we're wrong for noticing what we can see and judging based off of that.
with stas, i'll hand it to you, a lot of the stuff i've heard is mostly hearsay. i haven't seen too much. but i have seen enough stuff (like her mother sharing their location when they were in europe and fans hitting her up bc of that, her roommate liking fandom related tweets some of which were about shea, stas liking tweets about colby, stas answering questions fans have had about colby, her taking credit for his outfits, the malishka bs that happened from europe) to make me question whether or not her intentions are pure. bc at the very least, she interacts with fans a lot, and if for argument's sake everything about her was a lie or bs, she HAD to have seen fans congratulating them being together when they were in europe. there's no way she didn't, especially when it was some of her closet fans literally saying it. so for her to ignore that and not come out and say "hey guys, me and colby aren't together" is enough of a red flag for me to side eye her until shit like that changes. and that still isn't the case.
as for shea…. i literally have ss of the shit she has done over the years. her liking comments about amber that were negative, her apologizing to her gcs first and letting them spread the message she was sorry until finally posting something about it on twitter, her telling a gc that andrea had a bf and that was why her and colby weren't dating when they were hanging out even tho andrea herself never told her fandom about this guy until they broke up, her leaving winky face/hearts comments on edits shipping her and colby together, her pretending to not know a fan publicly she was bad mouthing to a gc even tho she blocked them, her liking shipping comments on tiktok only to later like comments saying 'all the shipping ruined colby and shea's friendship', i mean… the list goes on and go. there is proof of her weirdness. and again, even if there is more to the story, the little bit we have seen is enough for me to not like her.
but that being said, all of this is why i also ignore both of them as best i can. i don't pay attention to either of them until someone brings them up on here, and even then, i usually try to tell the person (at least as of recently) to just ignore them bc it ain't worth it.
do these girls get hate for unnecessary things?? oh for sure. and i don't advocate for it. i wish they didn't get hate at all, even if i don't like them. that's why i think it's just better to ignore them, especially if they upset you.
at the end of the day, colby deserves to have friends that are girls without there being drama. it's really that simple. and it's a shame that i don't think that will ever truly happen.
and thank you, i appreciate the love :)

This is another long one, so it’s also going under a cut.
Re: Jared stans vs hellers and hellers still being worse than Jared stans.
Just recently I saw some idiotic Jared stan tag all their posts with "hope his career crashes and burns" for no reason except the completely normal, typical J2 style jokes Jensen made at JIB and another one saying Jensen should have been killed by the bullet in Rust instead of Halyna Hutchins (!). Also seen some say that Jensen needs to be "punished" for what he did to Jared and that they want to "see him suffer".
The Rust one has been mentioned, yes, which is at that level of extreme psycho the hellers regularly do, but it was one person and immediately reported - including by other Jared stans.  The others are, again, crazypants, but comparatively?  Tagging random tumblr posts is not on the same level of trying to organize a boycott and downvote campaign - no matter how futile.  Vague mentions buried on tumblr of wanting to see Jensen suffer is not on the same level of @ing Jared to say he needs to die.  Neither is on a level that I think is remotely good or, y’know entirely sane, fan behavior?  But whether or not they’re on an equal level is a slightly different question.
I also see them frequently make absurd (and offensive) claims that Jensen is abusive to Jared, that Jensen is a terrible father, that he cheats on Danneel (and also a lot of way over the top, ridiculous hatred for Danneel in general), that the twins aren't his and that he neglects them/only really cares about JJ etc. Also some stupidly petty and hilariously conceited shit like Jensen and his family being low IQ, him being unable to manage his career and PR (because obviously random Tumblr idiots #249 and #461 know so much better than he himself about how to handle his career and PR). And that's just off the top of my head right now.
All of which sounds pretty damn deranged and psycho to me.
I’m not trying to assert those claims are not gross, projective, and fairly deranged. I agree they are pretty much on the level with baseline heller nonsense.  I’ve definitely seen hellers claim Jared is abusing Jensen, that Jared is an awful father including commentary about how Odette should have been aborted, various insults to Gen about her looks/career/blog, that Jared had to bribe people to create Walker because no one else would hire him, etc.  There are a few specifics against Jensen that don’t have direct analogues to hits on Jared, but the opposite is also true. (Though I do admit the career and PR ones are just hilarious to me, like I don’t even get mad, for that exact reason.  Oh yes, someone who has nothing better to do than sit on tumblr all day definitely has a better idea of how to manage a successful acting career than Jensen!)
I think the only real difference between hellers and Jared stans is that hellers are more heavily represented (not to mention louder) on platforms like Twitter and Tumblr, so statistically speaking, you're gonna see more psychos/insanity from them just based on numbers alone. Also, they tend to skew much younger than Jared stans, so they're often especially over-zealous in their stupidity.
But if all other factors were equal (same numbers etc), I think there would be virtually no difference between Jared stans and hellers, they are all equally awful as far as I'm concerned.
I’m not telling you how to feel, but I still see a distinction.  Posting those super offensive suggestions of harm and death on a platform where the actors have accounts and @ing it direct to them is just on a different level to me.  When it comes down to it, what I see is one side making a regular habit of crossing that line while it still rarely goes that far on the other.  Whether it’s a matter of sheer volume or any genuine greater feeling of restraint overall that creates that distinction?  Is again, I think, a slightly different question than whether one exists.

1. My following isn’t small by any means, not to mention I have several well established blogs and I have been roleplaying on this website since 2010. I am in three different extremely popular, highly active fandoms to boot, so not to rub salt in these wounds of yours but I think a survey my active mutuals across my blogs probably does hold a good indication of what is “common” rp practise. Listed activity levels are very common. And as a side note it was brought up a slew of reasons why some people’s estimated activity levels might not add up to reality and they’re valid points. Holding hate toward these people and being disrespectful is really a you problem. By all means, this is a vent blog, you can come to it and vent out those nasty feelings all you want, but that doesn’t mean you’re not gonna look embarrassing doing it, even if most people can’t put a face to the complaints. “Low” “high” “medium” etc, activity listed on someone's blog may not be a perfect indicator of the frequency of rp replies that are being posted but its a good start as far as gathering a clue as to what the blog’s rp activity is like. I also assume you’re fully capable of actually LOOKING through the blog to properly determine for yourself whether or not this is a person who is putting out the kind of content and activity that suits you. Thats really the bottom line.
2. I’m almost 100% sure this was completely covered in one of the submissions and you would be completely agreed with. Those kinds of people suck. I’ve encountered them too, especially over the last few years and they do totally suck, you’re valid in being unhappy with those people. Now personally, I dont feel any need to harbour hate or frustration toward them. They disappoint me but that's the extent of how far my negative feelings toward them go because at the end of the day this is indie rp on tumblr. Its a hobby, not a serious contract. This being said some jerk who approaches you to write and then never delivers is a far cry from just being a random blog that does near nothing to incense you into believing you’re going to be a magic exception to their lack of rping. I think it was also pretty clear this was the topic, not jerks approaching and wasting time which we obviously all agree are, in fact, jerks.
3. Yeah. Thats what people should do. No one argued against this. Don't follow the kinds of accounts that don’t work for you and you’ll minimise your frustration. Explanations and alternatives as to why some people don’t rp on their account and why some people blog hop were offered and readers were asked to consider these things before they decide to be hateful toward the types of people in question, spurred by the fact that it was mentioned people had experienced receiving hate from random followers for not being active and for blog hopping. Someone in the comments also mentioned not understanding why some people think they can label themselves a role-player when they don’t rp on their accounts. It was then explained that some people use Tumblr to advertise and rp elsewhere, ergo, that's no ones business and just because a blog doesn’t have rp on it doesn’t mean the blog can’t say they're an rper because you’ll never know whether they’re rping or not under these circumstances: I believe the point was it doesn’t matter what someone calls themselves if they’re not approaching you and promising interaction that they’re not delivering.
4. Your own misfortune isn’t mine and isn’t majority. The rpc here would be completely dead if blog hoppers and no-rpers were as big of a problem as you say. I don’t think it would be possible for me to have several highly active rp dashes if these people were oversaturating the place and driving all the “long term” rpers out. Most of the people I personally write with have been rping here for as long as, or near as long as I have. I have relationships between my muses and others that have been developed for over 8 years. I meet new people almost every other day and discover they’ve been been rping here for a very long time too and have similar long lasting partners and friends. I think the shortest partnership I have and the relationship that they’ve developed with one of my muses and theirs is now nearing 9 months.
That aside I’m pretty sure a solution to your problem was mentioned: Group rp. Group rps are stricter with their muses, plots, activity levels, in character content and so on. They would be a pretty good fit for someone who is apparently struggling to find people with consistent in character activity and long lasting threads. If there is no current group rps to your taste, make one. If you can’t get a group rp off the ground its very likely you’re in a very small / non active fandom as most of the popular / active rp communities here have multiple group rps and new ones popping up all the time. Not being in a popular fandom is probably more your issue than blog hoppers.
I also wanna say. I wouldn’t want to write a single thread for six months if I didn’t have to. If you have a thread that goes on for six months you’re probably exhausting the fuck out of your rp partners and there's another one of your problems right there. I’m assuming in order to get such a thread you must have plotted it out extensively and even so with such extensive plotting its probably not necessary to write that thread consistently for six months. You should have laid down the basics in your plot, and followed the script to create the scene then moved on to the next scene? Unless you're randomly adding stuff as you go along and that would drive me insane. A lot of people need breaks and need new, fresh scenes/plots to stay stimulated. They can always build on from the last ones and have those intersect, but in general its good to have breaks and finish scenes so no while I’d call myself a long term rper as well I wouldn’t endeavour to make my threads last for more than six months if I didn’t have to. I’m not saying you're wrong for wanting threads like that but yeah, of course you're a minority in the current rpc as a result. I also dont understand how you can admit that a lot of the rpc in general follows “trends” and then complain that my big volume of “trendy” followers and mutuals are not a majority?  Again, consider making a group rp. You’ll probably have more success finding people who are compatible with you in that type of environment. Other than that, if you’re having THIS much trouble on tumblr maybe you should try another website? I also wanna say, this disagreement aside, you seem like the kind of person I would personally be writing with (barring a six month long thread lol) and I hope you find more compatible rp partners and satisfying threads in the future.

In response to this ask about this submission.

I curate this blog with only one person in mind: me.
If the things I post bring you happiness too, that’s great! I love that, and you are more than welcome here!
However, at the end of the day, I am making this blog for ME.
About this Blog:
I started this blog because I am autistic, and a lot of the time when I have a meltdown, it can feel like the world is quite literally ending, like nothing will ever be ok again, and everything is hopeless and worthless. Obviously this isn’t true, but in that moment, no matter what I logically know, it FEELS true.
I thought it could be helpful for me to have a place full of things that give me hope or make me happy, something that I could look at when I’m feeling hopeless so that I can have some hope to cling to until I’m feeling better.
I considered making an actual physical journal, but my executive functioning skills are quite poor & I felt like a tumblr blog would have a lot less barriers for me, since I spend most of my time on tumblr anyway.
Important Things to Know:
Because I’m using this basically in lieu of a private journal, I’m probably not going to do research on whether things are fake or AI or reposted or whatever. If I see something and it makes me feel hopeful/happy/etc., I’m going to reblog it. Because at the end of the day, if seeing it makes me feel hopeful, it’s done its job. I don’t really care if it’s fact or fiction, I just care that it’s made me not want to die, at least for a little bit. I wouldn’t be fact checking things I write in a journal, I’m not gonna fact check things on this blog either. If this bothers you please do your own fact checking before reblogging; however, I do NOT want to know if something I reblogged isn’t true, so please don’t send in asks about it! I will be getting on this blog when I am feeling like there is nothing good in the world, to look at these posts to try to make myself feel better. The last thing I want at a moment like that is to get on & see an ask telling me that actually one of the few little glimmers of hope I thought existed isn’t actually true, ya know?
There’s a very good chance things won’t be tagged (or at least, not always). And if I do tag things, my tagging system may or may not make sense or be consistent
I don’t tag for trigger warnings either, sorry. Nothing on here is going to be triggering to me, and since the blog is just for me…yeah. Since the theme of the blog is happiness/hopefulness, I don’t anticipate there being a ton of triggering things, but I also make no guarantees. You’ve been warned 🤷‍♀️
Right now, I’ve got asks & submissions turned on, so feel free to ask or submit something. However, there is a decent chance I will end up turning them off. Since the entire purpose of this blog is for me to be able to come on here during meltdowns to help me feel better, I don’t want to do anything that will make it stressful or make me feel worse. I do tend to struggle a lot with communication & social interaction, so I can see myself getting overwhelmed & needing to turn asks off.
On a similar note, I could see myself making all my posts private & soft blocking everyone some day if I get super overwhelmed so uh. Yeah. Just be aware that could happen 🤷‍♀️.
Most (but not all) of the things that get posted here will probably be queued first. Even with the queue though, there’s still a good chance I’ll disappear for months at a time.
About the Blogger:
I’m in my 30s, she/her. I was diagnosed with autism & adhd a few years ago. My brain makes a lot more sense to me now that I know what autism & adhd are, but things are still really hard & I’ve been experiencing burnout & skill loss for a few years now.
This is a side blog, but I’m not gonna link my main 🤷‍♀️ (can anyone guess what my favorite emoji is lol).

Sure thing 💕 And don’t worry about it sounding silly, it’s how you feel and that’s what’s important. And you are absolutely succeeding. I love brutal honesty when it comes down to stuff like that. I’m looking forward to reading those stories when you also post them. Especially the Bandō story and Ever Young because the Bandō story left on such a cliffhanger and I’m intrigued about everything that will happen in the Ever Young story. And that paranormal investigation team sounds interesting. Do you think you’ll continue it one day? And I’m really glad you’re getting happier by the day because you absolutely deserve that, no matter what. You’re not. Though I actually don’t tend to stop and just continue writing it. Like when I did that horrible thing at the beginning of my last arc, I was crying my eyes out while writing everything since I was in the flow, knew what I wanted to write and don’t want to stop it. Though there have been other times where I’m fangirling because of something that’s happening in my story and then I do stop to calm myself down 😅 Yeah. I generally reread my stories at least once before I post them but because this one is so long and it means a lot to me, I’m gonna reread it twice. Though before that, I plan on posting another story which is much shorter and I’m unable to get around to rereading it, which sucks. Though now the plan is to reread it close to the day I plan on posting it and hope I go through with it. That’s dedicated. But yeah, I understand that since it’s quite normal to want your stories to be as perfect as can be.
Yeah. Like even if she messed up, Haruki would calmly tell her in what way she did and once that conversation’s over, he’d smile at her and would ask her whether she wants to do anything. Also, since Haruki’s morality is a dark shade of grey, he wouldn’t be mad at Sumiko if she did something’ ‘wrong’, but would still tell her to be careful Yeah. Like all those babies are in their sixties now and Sumiko is four by the end of the story so they’d be seventy-something by her teenage years. Yeah. Yata is one of my few favourite characters that doesn’t die or come into mortal danger or anything like that and I’d like to keep it that way. And I see. Writing fluff is a good general way to get around it. Like after an angsty plotline, I generally write something more cheerful or at the very least less heavy. Thank you so much. And unfortunately, most blogs I follow of the fandoms we share are hardly ever active. Yeah, I saw KHR won the poll by quite a lot. And you’re getting through it fast. I like saw on Wikipedia that it’s 302 episodes so probably loads of chapters. Yay, Jujutsu Kaisen. Be warned, there is much pain in the second season but it’s still so good. How far did you make it?
Of course. You have a life outside of Tumblr after all.
C
You are so nice and sweet as always! I really do appreciate you. And thanks for looking forward to it. I do plan on finishing up the Shouhei one first, just because it was further along, but I do want to get most of the askbox cleared, finish a commission, and really be up to writing long fic and feel confident in it before I finish the last two of those things. Then comes Bandou! And I probably will dabble with the paranormal investigation one first in my spare time, just for me, to get comfortable writing long fic again…if it's just for me, then I don't need to worry if it sucks, after all. And I cannot write and cry, haha. I am not a quiet or calm cryer. I don't cry long but when I do, it's all out sobbing. Now I can fangirl and still write because that makes me wanna put the words down faster and faster and get it done and out. And I hope you do go through with it as I am sure you did a fantastic job and it's a lovely story!
And I love the fact that these really nice, kind characters do have that morally grey side to them because it gives them this nice complexity and depth. And see, I have a problem of either ignoring Yata or killing him far more than I should, so it's probably a really good thing I don't write a lot for him outside of specific requests. And yeah, really light is needed after a good angst fest and it's normally when I start asking for match up requests because those make me feel really good and relaxed and light. And I am getting that impression. It seems like ask blogs/imagine blogs have kind of died out for either the fandoms I enjoy or just in general here on tumblr so I'm wondering if my number of followers is there mostly because I'm one of the few surviving ones haha. As for KHR, there's about 403 chapters, so I'm almost half-way through, but that is because I did skip the Daily Life arc this time…mostly because I know it and it's really kind of a slog to get through, so it always slows me down. I'm probably not going to rewatch the entire series as well, but am definitely going to check out the filler arcs because, while I'm normally a downer on filler episodes, I actually really enjoyed the fillers for KHR. And something tells me there's going to be so much pain in Jujutsu Kaisen period. It just seems that sort of story where there are absolutely NO guarantees that characters will survive, no matter how important they seem.

on the danmei twitter fight
okay guys i didn’t wanna say anything about this and yes it’s that hot danmei twitter translations saga thing that’s going on, because honestly i feel like there’s nothing much to say but when i see dumb posts on tumblr taking about that, by people who present a misleading hot take and their friends or moots run off with it without even knowing what exactly is going on - it really pisses me off.
and also if you shit talk translators for not continuing their translations or locking their translations whatever - the door is that way on your right and left, but anyway here’s a rundown on what happened because i am seeing people make comments without two brain cells put together, without the slightest bit of consideration for the people who bring them translations
here’s my hot take and thesis: if you enjoy english translations made by fan translators, you don’t, in any way, no matter happens, shit talk fan translators. fan translators do this for free, and whatever their intentions are, whether genuine sharing or like some of you like to say, for clout, if you consume, and you enjoy these translations, i’m sorry, you’re not uninvolved, and you don’t get to sit on a high horse and say translators should or shouldn’t do something. you should just keep quiet, honestly, because someone else is doing you a favour, a favour that you are enjoying and taking. that’s what respect is.
i’m presenting both sides or i guess three sides of the story as objectively as i can, altho my support is still for fan translators who were just minding their own business before this blew up.
===
🔺 what happened:
so it started because one of the bigger translators in the fandom did this poll - i’m not blaming her at all, i doubt she had any intentions of shaming anyone or causing any controversy and was plain curious, but her poll asked english speaking danmei twitter how many people buy the digital, print copies of the danmei they read, and who did not.
in my honest opinion, it’s not strange at all for her to have created that poll, considering just how much work she’s put into making sure things are accessible for the eng-speaking danmei fandom. i mean i’d be curious too, to know out of my thousands of readers, what the reading and buying behaviour is like. do yourself a favour and don’t read too much into it.
obviously in an era where a lot of people do consume content for free whether the underlying content is profit-making (like anime, donghua, manhua, manga etc.) or not (fanfiction etc.), it was unsurprising to see that the last option - the ones who consume danmei without paying a single cent, came out as the majority. i don’t think this is a surprising result at all, for all sorts of reasons that i will not get into now.
anyway, this is obviously kind of a sore point in the fandom especially for translators who want a wider audience to support their fave author’s works - i won’t get into that for now, but the issue began because other translators or fans started to criticize the majority of people who don’t pay for objectively rather affordable danmei and just consume things for free.
and yes, i don’t deny that the argument on both sides got really heated and emotionally charged with both sides calling each other names which i believe is uncalled for, but it totally derailed the crux of the issue, which basically is that the majority of english-speaking danmei fandom - consumes danmei for free.
anyway this whole thing escalated and fan translators were brought into this for no fucking reason at all except that the people who didn’t want, or were unable to pay for the danmei they usually consume, made what i call a LOGICAL FALLACY in argument by going to the extremes, i will explain why later.
the end result is that fan translators were brought into this (most of them, the bigger ones i know at least) without even participating in the direct crossfire. and obviously, you can see why they’re hurt and decided to lock their translations. let me explain why
===
🔺 kind of like four camps:
(1) translators and fans who criticized those who consume danmei liberally but do not pay for them in any way - no merch, no digital copies, no physical copies, no audio dramas whatever
*** their arguments:
danmei is so cheap right, that technically people should be able to pay for it in one way or another, even if not all
danmei and its authors are, at the end of the day, out here to earn a living, and the industry, like any money-making industry, is a for-profit enterprise - and unlike public goods, if you cannot afford danmei, then there is no obligation for others to make it free for you (fan translators or otherwise, it wasn’t super clearly stated while this shitshow happened) when it is inherently a for-profit industry
yes, i don’t deny that some of them did call the peeps who don’t pay at all, “leeches” and other sort of names. personally, i wouldn’t go that far or even like venture there to be honest because in general, if it’s something that i’ll get punched in the face for if i called someone that in real life i tend not to do it, but i’ll leave my opinions, whatever they’re worth, for later
(2) the readers and fans of danmei who do not pay in any sort of way for them
*** their arguments:
some of them really cannot afford, even the dollar or more, to spend on danmei for several reasons: upbringing, culture, money-spending mindsets, real poverty, struggling to make ends meet etc. - some definitely more valid than others (and when i say not valid, it’s because SOME, a minority or like those few stragglers, say they cannot afford and then you see them like idk, throwing $50 on other merch on kpop and stuff - i’m just bringing up ONE example. not shaming anyone for spending more money on one aspect rather than the other, but yeah you can see why some of them, when making this same argument, are a little invalid, that’s just a small number of them tho)
if translators are blaming them for consuming free of charge, then the fault lies, at its foundation, fan translators who translate illegally, which i mean, in that definition, all of them including me
did i mention that we were called illegal translators like you know in response to being called leeches? anyway-
(3) others translators who literally were just minding their own fucking business before some smart alec dragged them into it
i don’t think most of us had an argument. we were just quietly munching on popcorn and staying out of it and yeah, can you imagine, we provide a service, however illegal it is, for free on our own time, we don’t even check whether people support legally or not, we just... provide, and pray that those who are able to, at least support in some small way or another do so, on their own time. i mean i don’t check, most of us don’t, not the bouncers at your local club before COVID happened do, and then suddenly, to be used to derail an argument, we were called illegal translators. and that we should stop translating, and that it is our fault that there are free riders in the fandom
(4) people who offered to provide JJWXC credits to those who said they couldn’t afford it etc.
honestly i think they were just trying to help - no different than a gofundme. there’s no shame in taking a free thing that people already weren’t intending to pay for. it’s there, just take it!
===
🔺 the shitshow that led to fan translators locking their stuff up:
i would provide some actual examples in the form of screenshots but i’ve blocked most of them, and i don’t want to direct any sort of traffic to them so i guess you’ll have to take my word on it or go search on twitter yourself but-
(1) the affordability issue: i can understand the frustration at being called leeches, and some if not a majority of people, do have valid reasons for not being able to afford something or anything and end up pirating content they enjoy. hey, i am not about to crucify anyone for pirating at some point in their lives. we all have done it at some point, or for example hate disney+ and that $30 they were trying to rip off us for a subpar Mulan live action. i don’t have anything to say about that. inherently, is it wrong and illegal? yeah sure of course it is. do we call people leeches? i wouldn’t go that far.
if anyone cannot afford, cannot access for whatever reason, fine, i’m not gonna go check if jjwxc truly is banned in your country, or is your postal service so terrible that you definitely won’t be able to receive a hard copy of the book you like at affordable rates.
and if you have to pirate? go ahead. i mean it’s always been a rampant thing. the only thing fan translators and fans can do is encourage, motivate and incentivise as much as possible to get people to support legally. they can only put up REALLY COMPREHENSIVE guides as to how to access jjwxc or taobao or whatever.
and if you still cannot afford it and pirate, honestly no one cares about the story behind it. you owe no one justification, just as how no other person is obligated to take it into consideration or understand you or empathize with you. i don’t say this in a malicious way - i do think that in general, you just do you.
(2) the poor people don’t deserve nice things argument: honestly, this was not the point of this entire debacle, altho yes, people were rude to those who could not afford to support legally. but this is not the point of this whole thing.
main point - there are free riders who can support but choose not to because they choose to just consume it for free and if you are able to you should support
everyone going off on a tangent - you guys hate poor people / you guys are leeches
well guess what, no one wins in this argument.
there were a lot of people saying “reading danmei is our only source of happiness, are you saying poor people who can’t access legally don’t deserve to read danmei” (this is just one example i’ve seen, there are other variations), and it wasn’t put across perhaps in the right way, but the other camp of people were saying “you’re not entitled to it for free if you cannot afford it”, which raised a lot of hackles and anti-poor yellings
altho i do not deny that there are those who mean it maliciously, i think what everyone is trying to say is - the danmei industry, like any other profit-making industry, is looking to make profits. the people working in the industry, the authors even, are looking at numbers - traffic to jjwxc or other legal platforms, how much revenue they’re making from their live actions etc., comments, rankings, etc. i think @/hunxi-after-hours made a really succinct post on this aspect which yall should read.
it’s the same as - if you wanted to purchase a standee which costs $20 USD, but you cannot afford it = you don’t get it. there’s no way you can get this standee unless some gifts it to you for free. what the camp trying to ask people to support legally is saying, is that danmei is NOT A PUBLIC GOOD. it is a private, for-profit product. it might be intangible, but it is a PRODUCT that has a price that needs to be paid.
if you cannot afford it, you either don’t get access entirely (i’m saying this objectively and honestly from an economic standpoint). if someone gifts that standee to you for free, count yourself lucky - if someone makes a danmei accessible to you for free, COUNT YOURSELF LUCKY. you don’t have to be grateful and treat them as gods or like obey their every word, but it’s not rocket science. someone did you a favour that you accepted and consumed, show some respect.
if you cannot afford to buy the standee - you do not go on twitter demanding that someone ensures that you have access to the standee for free. do you see how ridiculous this sounds once it’s a tangible product? and danmei novels ARE PRODUCTS. they are not FREE CONTENT. if someone cannot afford the standee, this is the equivalent of people going “we didn’t get the standee for free because poor people don’t deserve nice things”
totally missing the point. i don’t even know how it got to this. once again, i do admit that some users were unnecessarily mean, but going to the extreme of this is ridiculous. in argumentative essay writing we call this a logical fallacy:
e.g. “if you cannot pay for merchandise or danmei, it is a fact that you might not have access to it” morphing into “if we cannot pay for food, does this mean we cannot have access to it?!” - this is a slippery slope, and factors are not equivalent!!!! do they not teach people anything in school
don’t confuse fanfiction with danmei - danmei novels ARE PAID PRODUCTS unless for free chapters, just because it’s released online doesn’t mean it’s free public property, and also selected novels (did you guys know the WHOLE of SCI novel is free? about 500 chapters sorry, random, just a tidbit)
there are of course nuances right, like if anyone told me they were pirating disney+ content i’d be like yeah hey get one over those bloodsuckers, they take enough of our money and produce shit content anyway. the difference is that danmei authors, and the danmei industry itself can still be considered a nascent and not-yet matured industry, with a majority of authors if not all, depending on monetary flow, likes, comments, virality on the sites their content is hosted on, for a living, unlike hugeass MNCs trying to squeeze us dry for content that isn’t even interesting.
danmei is priced rather reasonably - and this brings me to another argument that was made, that the value of money is not the same for everyone. i don’t want to make comments on this because yes this is correct to a large extent. a $6 book might be cheap to most of us, but might be expensive to someone else. i’m not gonna comment on how cheap or whatever it is, if you gotta use your money for other things, definitely! i still maintain however, that a novel less than a dollar should be affordable to most people, a majority of people. and i definitely side eye some users who obviously have money but are just creating noise because they wanna continue free-riding
(4) the “they’re losing out on their international audience” argument: honestly, i feel like english-speaking danmei fandom gives themselves a bit too much credit. danmei has long thrived in china in its domestic market - sure the international audience is a plus to have and i’m sure the authors are grateful and flattered that people who don’t understand chinese love their content and love it a lot, but do they and their companies care about fans who basically don’t bring in money? i’m not sure (okay i’ll get to the fan translators doing illegal shit later okay i got it don’t be impatient)
and international fans are great, i don’t deny that - but when i see arguments like “oh but it’s their loss if they don’t cater or deny access to us, they get more popularity and sharing overseas”, i honestly think they don’t care as much as you think. once again, hunxi made a really good argument regarding non-sinophone audiences, but it really irks me, because this is the same as:
an instagram influencer saying they’ll give a restaurant exposure for free to their followers, if they get a free meal
it’s par for par - danmei authors wants earnings, popularity, tangible results that show that they are succeeding. this is life. if i put something out there for sale, i better be getting returns, simple economic logic. they probably don’t care that a non-paying reader is bringing them greater ‘exposure’ - once again, i mean this objectively.
and yes if they’re thriving without the international market then why should it matter that people are pirating right? which brings me to the next point~
(5) it’s fan translators faults for so many people pirating, and fan translators are the ones doing the “illegal” work: this one is like... wow where do i unpack this and how-
firstly, we are talking about assholes who can pay but decide to free ride and not pay for danmei, and we assume that if you really cannot afford and have to pirate, no one’s saying anything as long as you don’t go around spreading how to pirate, how the hell did it get to fan translators from “you guys are anti-poor” and whatever
yes, fan translations are indeed illegal, i don’t deny that, and i also don’t deny that there are translators who translate for clout and popularity but putting these aside - here’s what i have seen from people who ran their mouths and made this argument
“if you guys care about us pirating the book so much than fan translators shouldn’t have translated in the first place” and “if you wanna come after us for reading illegally, then fan translators, you guys should go get the copyright for the book and then translate it cuz what you guys are doing is also illegal”
hooooo i’m telling ya, i am all for translators locking up their translations at this point. see how fucking hurtful that is? you eat from my hand and then now you biting at the hand that fed you the gays in love?
honestly if you’ve made this argument or supported this, you can basically go to hell. yes this is personal because what, you think fan translators don’t take out their personal time and effort and hard work to make translations accessible to you? if you’re ever consumed and read translations, don’t be a hypocrite and make this argument. you benefitted from it, now you wanna say it’s their fault?
most translators want to share and spread the love they have for a novel right, want to show you how wonderful all these authors are, how much enjoyment u get from reading these wonderfully thought out stories of gays in love. yes we all know we are illegally translating, which is why on top of sharing we first, purchase the novels legally ourselves first, and then we try to encourage people to buy etc. and actually put their money to use. it doesn’t make it any less illegal, but we are bridging the gap between danmei and basically the english-speaking fandom, albeit illegally
we aren’t that self-important to ask for gratefulness but some respect would be nice. like i said, you read it, you consumed it, you enjoyed it, you can only access it because of illegal translators - a bit counter-intuitive to yell at these translators, who are simply telling you, if you can, please support. and none of us went “if you cannot afford, begone!”
===
🔺 some people tried to help by offering jjwxc credits so people who cannot afford as they say, can get legal access: honestly, just take it right, guess what some of these users did in response
they said the people giving away credits are trying to redeem themselves for their comments by giving away free stuff
they also said that we are trying to shame the people who cannot afford it with this handout to them, to show that they are the bigger person - the fact that they think this is a handout to them is TELLING. the people offering this is giving their money not to these readers, but to the authors! that’s the point of this exercise!!!
one of them even said “instead of trying to do these giveaways, here, there are greater world problems out there, donate instead to these causes” - love the initiative, but how did we get from being able to afford danmei and entertainment content to saving the world? i just- i cannot
===
🔺 so why i get why fan translators are locking up their translations, because wow, so hurtful:
you have no idea how many fucking assholes went “sure, lock up your translations, deal with the consequences” - ermmmm firstly, thanks for making a threat. like who the fuck do you think you are?
the consequences is... the authors still don’t get the money these free riders weren’t going to give them anyway, so no loss, and they weren’t reading on jjwxc anyway so you know, the authors don’t lose or gain any readership numbers or traffic they didn’t already have. instead, it WILL push and force people to pay for the PRODUCT. once again, it’s a product.
this works, and i’d say Word of Honor’s payment model worked marvellously for Youku, because they fucking forced everyone to pay to access content. ALL OF THEM. sure ok some people still pirated it, but how many MORE people paid on Youku, on Youku Youtube, watched on Viki etc. than if they didn’t? even english-speaking fandom were wracking their brains trying to purchase a Youku pass even if there were no subs initially - and other examples that lovely hunxi brought up in her amazing piece
and for translators?! honestly me for one, i’m glad i don’t feel pressured anymore to churn out a chapter every week since we get called names etc. most of us are glad to have a break to be honest. we’ve lost all motivation to translate because it’s a free service, at the very least we don’t expect like hate, or rudeass fuckers. for those who are doing a proof of purchase thing - go for it honestly!
hopefully it’ll minimize the free rider problem - some people for whatever reasons really cannot buy or support legally, that’s totally cool and they don’t have to justify it, i get that. but for others making the same argument but obviously are just unwilling to pay because they can’t read chinese, think it’s too troublesome when there are guides and translators provide it for free anyway so what’s the point - we all make concessions and make decisions to grab what we like (not talking about the ppl who have their various troubles and difficulties!)
===
🔺 and those who are saying why is it the ‘rest of us suffer’ from locked translations just because of a few bad apples:
IT ISN’T ABOUT YOU. where the hell were all of ya when we were getting called illegal huh? it’s about us fan translators getting shot at for no reason, and then people still demanding things for free. i don’t see any of the people i’ve seen on tumblr complain about fan translators stopping or locking translations defend any of us in any way. instead, you’re complaining.
it is the translator’s prerogative to start, stop and end translations, unless of course the original author starts to sue i suppose. i see people on tumblr going like if they were gonna do this, they shouldn’t have started in the first place etc. - i don’t what world you live in, but when i do something for free, then get called names and am attacked or get dictated on how i should do something that’s already like free, i tend to be less generous.
i’m sorry, do us illegal and free translators owe ANY OF YOU? i wasn’t aware any of us were being paid for this hobby. readers, especially those who CAN and just refuse to support, don’t get to say SHIT. translators deal with so much shit and so many entitled readers, i say they get to lock whatever they want as long as they aren’t profiting off of this monetarily.
let me give you an example - nan chan, which is translated by lian yin, completed translations by the way for all chapters. it is all free for viewing, and she only locked up one extra and asked for proof of payment. some dumbfuck quotes that locked up extra chapter tweet and said “honestly, this turned me off reading this novel because they restricted access”.
the. fucking. entitlement. the whole of nan chan is free, that’s like what more than 80 chapters. she locked up the EXTRA and the money goes to the author, she doesn’t earn anything. AND HERE THAT BIJ is (yes, i’m going to call them names because you know, fucking asshole who didn’t bother to check) going “yeah i didn’t wanna read because 1/80+ chapters were locked”.
AN EXTRA. LITERALLY AN EXTRA!!!!!!
at the end of the day, translators are not like DYING to translate, not like some of you are DYING to read the translations. once again, this isn’t a “BE GRATEFUL” message, it’s a please be respectful to the people who put in time and hard work for free and share the goodness ya know? what’s the use of yelling at fan translators as if we owe you anything?
================
🔴🔴🔴 TOO LONG DIDN’T READ 🔴🔴🔴
some people may need really need to pirate - and no one needs to justify why they cannot afford to purchase etc. pirating happens all the time, translators only hope that when you can, and in whatever way you can, to support legally - in general we don’t ask and we get it! we’re just annoyed that some people think that it SHOULD BE FREE, when it is a paid product, especially for those who CAN afford it
readers are not entitled to shit on translators for what they do with their translations - once again, you’re not OBLIGATED to have it. so what if i start and stop? i’m the one doing the work, i get the only say. don’t be a hypocrite and shit on translators, whose works you’ve read - it’s no loss for translators, we read and enjoy danmei just fine
yes, fan translations are illegal, but you can’t read and enjoy them like some of you have, and then turn around and point the finger at translators - a lot of us are happy to stop translating - this isn’t a threat, but at the end of the day, shitting on translators simply decreases access, and sure, some people can indeed live with you know, MTL or shitty translations from people who’ve learnt chinese for only six months or whatever, but you’re gonna be reading an entirely different book tbh
the people saying illegal translators are at fault - funnily enough, most of them consume the translations, so what the fuck? i mean we know it’s illegal, we’re trying to share the love and trying to minimize the illegalities of it by redirecting people to hopefully support legally. it’s still illegal yes, but i think it’s hypocritical for people who have read translations, stab translators in the back. and now that translators are indeed ‘restricting’ and ‘removing’ their ‘illegal translations’, yall yelling again? and threatening?
fan translators aren’t “elitist” or “classist” - just looking for some respect in a community which seems to have taken them for granted, and also looking for support for their fave authors - and honestly a lot of us were caught in the crossfires truly, don’t be an asshole and demand things from fan translators - who are you talking about? do you know why they decided to lock? do you know know what their locking system is like and what for?
it’s not EASY to lock the translations up - it’s more admin work, it’s putting together a whitelist of people, if given the choice i’m sure translators would prefer to share everything. but not when there are assholes who have a comment on how they should translate etc. and yeah!!! calling us illegal!! i mean we are but still!!
the last straw was seeing that post on tumblr and people in the comments going like fan translators shouldn’t or should do something, without getting the whole picture, without even considering how hard it is for fan translators being caught in this situation.
whoever puts in the work gets to decide, and everyone else should leave them alone.
be nice to the people who really cannot afford as they say so (or just don’t think about it), be nice to the translators feeding you content, and the people who free ride and shit on translators - honestly, i’d say ready the pitchforks.
edit: i forgot to mention this is my hot take and i’ve tried to like present all the arguments i’ve seen so far. i’m definitely not doing all of it justice and i don’t claim to speak on behalf of any of them except maybe one or two- and i’ve definitely left out stuff, but anyway, lmao we’re just tiny people doing what we love. i wish we could solve you know inequality or poverty or hunger or other pressing concerns. if i was that great i wouldn’t be stuck on tumblr or twitter or have to make posts like these like a loser.
thanks for coming to my ted talk.

falling softly
[natasha romanoff x gn reader]
summary: natasha hasn't been able to get much sleep, at least, not until you.
this is my entry for the @marvelxreaderfanfictionfest by @lovelyavengers for @cap-n-stuff, i'm sorry it was delayed a bit, but i really hope you like it!
note: this is my first fic in a long time, and my first time posting to tumblr, so i'm sorry if anything is wrong or the formatting is off, i'm still learning
word count: 1109
warnings: very small mention of the red room and nightmares, otherwise it's all fluff :)
In all of the time you had known her, Natasha Romanoff had never gotten a full night of sleep. To give her the benefit of the doubt, you hadn’t known her long. You had only joined the ranks of the Avengers about a month and a half ago -and interacted with the redhead sparsely in those few weeks- but she resides in the compound room right next to your own, and when you share a wall with someone, you tend to notice these things.
You were an admittedly light sleeper yourself, so when the telltale sound of her door opening and closing hit your ears at 2am every morning, you woke up, and you did everything you could to try to ignore it. You didn’t know her well enough, was one of the excuses swimming around in your head, and the Black Widow was infamous for keeping her circles small. There was no way that she would trust a new recruit getting in over their head, no matter if your intentions were well meaning or not.
It took you another two months of pretending not to hear the redhead tossing and turning before you finally got over yourself and decided to do something. This time when there was the subtle click of Natasha’s door opening and closing, you waited fifteen minutes, and made your way into the common room after her.
When you entered the shared kitchen, you tried not to make it obvious that you were going to check on her, and instead acted like you were just waking up too. As you grabbed two mugs out of the kitchen cabinet, and started to make tea for the both of you, she looked at you skeptically. It was almost as if she was analyzing you, trying to decide whether or not your intentions were pure.
“How do you like your tea?” Your voice was hesitant, but soft, open.
“A little bit of milk, and a little bit of sugar, but you don't have to do this, you know?” Her words came out quietly, untrusting.
“Do what? I already filled your cup, you're not gonna make me dump it out, are you?” You gave her a small smile, and she gave you one back as you slid the hot mug over to her side of the counter.
It was quiet from that point on, and you were expecting it to be awkward, but it was the opposite. You were comfortable sharing this space, and this time with her, and you were glad that she didn't have her walls up as high as she usually kept them. It was nice to spend this time with her, even if you were hesitant about it before.
When she finished her tea she let you take both mugs to the sink, and then made her way over to the couch. You followed after her, and grabbed the remote from off of the coffee table in front of you. She took the throw blanket from off of the top of the couch, and gestured for you to come closer to share it with her. You hadn't changed from your shorts and tank top you had worn to bed, and Tony kept the temperature in the compound just shy of freezing, so you obliged.
“Anything in particular you wanna watch?” You didn't really mind what went on, but you thought that it might be easier for her to be vulnerable with a distraction in the background, so the focus didn't feel like a spotlight shining on her.
“No, you can put on whatever you want to, I'm okay with anything.” Was her soft response.
You put on the first thing that came to mind, an Avengers cartoon meant for children that you used as background noise when trying to fall asleep. To your surprise, Natasha actually laughed, a soft, lighthearted laugh that made your heart soar and butterflies find their place in your stomach.
“Are you making fun of me now? I thought you said you would watch anything?” was your teasing reply.
“I just find it funny that even in a TV show for 7 year olds they still managed to emphasize my boobs.” was her sarcastic comment back to you.
Without even thinking you responded, “Well, in their defense, they are nice boobs.” And then before you could even think about what you had said, a pillow was launched directly at your head, but once you both calmed down from your laughter, you swore you saw a bit of a blush coating the cheeks of the big bad Black Widow.
The quiet nights together continued on for a while, and you got to know Natasha more and more as the weeks went on. She talked with you, about the hard things and the easy things, opening up to you about how she still had nightmares from her time in the Red Room, and how that was why she didn’t sleep as well as she wished to. You told her about your own struggles, and about how they motivated you during your training, and she listened like you were the most important person in the world. You both fell asleep together on the couch more times then you didn’t, not caring about the teasing that would await in the morning from your teammates.
Tonight was different, though everything started out the same. You heard as Nat tossed and turned, and then heard the inevitable shuffling, and the click as her door opened and shut behind her, but what you weren’t expecting was the gentle knocking at your door, almost shyly.
“Come in! It’s open!” Was your loud whisper across the room.
And in came Natasha, looking as beautiful as ever even with her clothes mussed and her bright red hair in disarray. She looked so soft, so hesitant as she made her way over to your bed, but you just shuffled over to make room, and pulled the blanket up to offer her more space. She climbed in after, lacking all of her usual grace, but looking as if a weight was taken off her shoulders. She slightly shocked you when she rested her head on your chest, her arms coming to wrap around your waist, but you relaxed into the hold quickly, bringing your own arms to wrap around her.
“No more tea and cartoons, sleepyhead?” You teased, your voice still hoarse from sleep.
“Your arms are my safe space, so that’s where I’ll be sleeping tonight.” Was her gentle response. And sleep she did, with no nightmares, well into the next morning, with your arms holding her close -safe- throughout the night.

one year anniversary request event! [CLOSED]
Tumblr media
hi everyone! as of today, the 29th of april, it’s been one year since i officially started writing for tumblr. for the most part, it’s been a pretty awesome ride. over the last year i’ve gotten to write more than i ever have (135k to be exact), and improved more than i ever could have dreamed to.
and that’s thanks to all of you. <3 without your support, i probably would have quit a while ago lmao. so thanks to anyone who left a sweet comment, ask, or reblog. y’all are great, and ily for that.
anyways, enough with the sappy stuff. now what am i actually doing to celebrate this? well, a one-shot event of course! and what better theme for the event than music, considering this is a kpop blog after all.😌
instructions and rules for submitting a request: (make sure you read this all before submitting)
send me a request with both a song + an idol of your choosing!
the idol must be from one of the following groups: ateez, skz, itzy, or txt.
feel free to let me know if you want a gn or fem reader :) if you don’t care, i’ll just go with whatever flows for me when writing the one-shot.
if you want either a poly or love triangle fic, feel free to send me two idols! you can specify if you’d prefer a love triangle or poly, but you can also just leave it to up me >:)
the song can be kpop or non-kpop, doesn’t matter. just tell me the title and the artist.
so for example, a completed request may look like: song: mist by ateez + idol: txt yeonjun
i’ll use the general vibe of the song to dictate the mood of the piece. so if you want fluff, don’t send me a sad song bc you won’t get that lmao.
as of now, i’ll be selecting 10 different submissions. i don’t know if we’ll even get that lmao, but if there ends up being way more, i’ll maybe up it to 15.
i’m gonna try and keep the one-shots between 1-7k words. i’m aware that’s a huge gap, but you know me, i tend to get carried away looking at you just in case. i’m trying to keep them on the shorter side, but that probably won’t happen for all of them. but hey, we been knew.
this is not on a first come first serve basis. if we surpass the limit, i’ll be choosing submissions based on whether or not i can think of an idea with your idol and song. however, if you are an active follower and i know that you give lot’s of genuine feedback and support, i’ll try a lil extra hard to come up with something☺️ but also if i really can’t think of anything, or something else really excites me, i’m sorry in advance. i can only do so many :,)
if you plan to pester me asking when your one-shot will be ready, please don’t request one😭 it could be a week, it could be 8 months. your guess is as good as mine.
i’ll make a masterlist in the coming weeks with the chosen line-up of one-shots, just so you know whether or not your request was selected.
if you don’t get selected, don’t sweat it! i’m sure i’ll do more requests in the future. it’s all for fun anyways, and there will be still be lots for you to read.🕺🏼
so all that said, happy requesting! 😊

How it’d be to watch animes with them
A/N: While i’m working on my Mikasa x reader royal au, this little idea came to my mind. I tried to put the links when i mentioned a specific scene and speak a little about the anime in case you don’t know it.  So here it’s:
Warnings: Me exposing my otaku self, mentions of 18+ animes (Not hentais)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eren -  Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (13+)
A / N: The main characters like each other, but none wants to confess because being the person who takes the first step would also represent being the defeated person. The anime develops in a series of plans that both elaborate to make the other confess their love.
Warnings: None
It was his idea to watch an anime together since the two of you liked it a lot. You saw no harm and agreed to go to sleep with your boyfriend on Friday night. So, you would have the dawn and the weekend to see everything.
“We could watch One piece! Everybody likes"
“In three days ?! We will not finish even if we do not take breaks ”
"Naruto then?"
“Haven't you seen it all five times or more?
"But it is a classic!"
"It is also too long!"
He would sulk when he saw you reject each of his suggestions for being too big animes. The truth was, he was trying to convince you to stay longer. After much searching in the catalog, you choose to watch a short comedy of 12 episodes.
Biggest mistake ever
Eren is already annoying by nature, and after watching Kaguya-sama's two seasons he would spend the day and night trying to get you to confess to him EVEN IF YOU'VE BEEN IN LOVE FOR TWO YEARS AND HE HAS BEEN THE FIRST TO DECLARE. HIT HIM, PLEASE.
"Do you think that using such a low trick will make me give in?"
“Eren, I just got out of the shower. What trick? Wear an outfit? ”
“Showing off your skin won't make you win”
If you wanted to play with him, great. You are going to spend the day in this little game until he gets tired and just hugs you or something because he can't spend a lot of time without touching you. But if you didn't want to, just you could use that touchy side of him against him too.
"Maybe I shouldn't show you anything else then"
"Yes, of course, do- Wait what?"
"You heard"
“NO, BABE! YOU WON! I CONFESS! I LOVE YOU"
Watching anime with him would be quite an experience. For being very verbal, Eren would be the type of person who doesn't shut up watching anything. Especially, something that makes him laugh. You would see him laughing out loud and throwing himself back on the couch or on you, whether you were with him or not. You may even complain, but it would be fun to see him react to everything as immediately and naturally as an unfiltered child.
He will sing ALL the openings for the rest of the days around the house until you are humming some without realizing it.
For some reason, can I imagine him doing Chika dance ?? Yes, please film this big bear dancing like a little girl.

Levi - Death parade
A / N: Do you want to cry and hurt yourself? This is the right place. Death Parade is a story about what happens after death. The characters are sent to mysterious bars where they will be judged to decide the fate of the souls themselves. (18+)
Warnings: Suicide, depressive themes, mentions of rape and domestic violence
I don't see Levi watching many animes. In fact, I don't see him watching much anything at all. He would be the type of person who can't spend a lot of time in front of the television without feeling like he's wasting time. Which would result in a very selective and demanding taste.
He would always read the reviews about the film, and after watching it, he would make his own. Ever. No exceptions. Unlike Impossible-to-be-quiet-Eren, Levi would be silent to be able to capture and understand all the details. This is interesting because getting his attention is a difficult task. But once it's done, he is 100% focused on the story and immersed in the characters.
So, after reading about it, he would agree to watch Death Parade with you.
He would have low expectations at first, and if the anime failed to hold his very difficult attention in three episodes, he wouldn't even try with the rest.
So when in the first episode, all suspense and doubts left to the viewer entered Ackerman's head, he would finish the other 11 without realizing it.
As a rational person, he would love things that make him think and reflect on the proposed theme. In the case: Life and death.
For some reason, I imagine him as someone who would like to study and read philosophy as a hobby and that he would love Nietzsche? So, you could expect deep conversations after each episode.
But without any arrogance, humanity's strongest soldier might not be the most talkative man in humanity, but surely when he opened his mouth to it, it wouldn’t be to show himself off with something that he knows and you don’t. On the contrary, he would be more than happy to explain if you asked and added your opinion.
He wouldn't cry, but he would be touched by the way the emotions were shown and created in the characters.
He would probably see the scene where Decim cries more than once for being impressed with how the pain of a character who is supposedly not flesh and blood is expressed so well.
And after the anime is over, you would always see him listening to the music of the ice skating scene around the house while doing something.
When you were finished watching everything, you would talk again about the anime. You lying on his chest and he touching his hair, smelling him.
"Do you believe in reincarnation, Levi?"
“If so, I wouldn't go back to this shit a second time. No matter what they offered me ”
"Levi!"
"Unless it was to have you again"
“What a cliché” He would roll his eyes after hearing your response “But I like clichés”
Again, he wouldn't cry, but he would be thinking about how ephemeral things can be, including being alive. Then you can expect a more touchy Levi for a few days.

Jean - Banana Fish
N / A: Another one to cry and get hurt. Banana Fish is way more than just a story about one character just is hard to define. So in case, you didn’t watch it, here’s the trailer. (18+)
warnings: pedophilia, rape, violence, drugs, your heart being destroyed
You know that guy who says that no yaoi is good, it's just a way to feed a bunch of fujoshi and stuff like that? Jean. It's him. I just know it. So when you suggested Banana Fish and said it was a BL / yaoi, he would probably laugh and ignore the idea.
But after insisting a little and showing him the many compliments that both the anime and the manga received, he would accept.
At first, he wouldn't pay much attention. He really thought it would be just another bad anime. But by the end of the first episode, he would be too involved in the story to stop.
I think he would love crime novels for the same reason that Levi: To think. Try to find out how things are going to end and pick up any clues that the author has left about the ending. So the plot would hold him so much because he would make a ton of theories about the end.
He will ship Ash and Eiji with all his soul. I mean, how can he not ship? To see an anime in which the physical touch between the couple doesn't really happen and still builds a well-developed and healthy relationship would be a new experience for him.
Jean is somewhat similar to Eren in this respect. So you can expect to see him huffing in anger, cursing one of the characters, throwing a pillow away, or using it to hide a tear or two that he would let go of you. The kind of person who gets emotionally involved with the things he watches.
He would cry an entire river after watching the last episode and deny it later.
“I was not crying. The cushion fabric made my eyes itch a lot ”
Show him again and he will cry the same amount and intensity

Armin - Haikyuu
A / N: Considering all the texts on Tumblr for haikyuu characters, I’m pretty sure you know what anime it’s lol (10+)
Armin is an otaku with a license card and no one can change my mind. He would probably start watching it as a child. So, his first animes would be everyone's classics: Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, etc.
So it would be normal that as the vast majority, he would continue to have a preference for shounen when he grew up. So it would be your idea to see Haikyuu.
He would have low expectations because he thought it would be just another anime with cute characters for everyone to be thirsty as an inverted harem. And also because the synopsis does not create a strong impression, especially for those who consume shounen daily.
"So we are just gonna see a little boy trying to catch a ball?"
“It's gonna be good! Everyone is talking about it now ”
"Does he have some superpower?"
"No"
"Something scary?"
"Armin, just give a chance!"
He would like it. Did I say he would like it? Because he would love it. The atmosphere created and well developed with such a simple plot would hold his attention well. (Is it possible to dislike Hinata in the first episode?)
It would be a great anime for him to watch because 1. It is different from what he usually sees. Unlike shounen, Haikyuu deals only with real and tangible scenarios. Of course, still with that touch of anime, but it is very easy to recognize yourself in the characters and learn from them and therefore reflect on yourself as well.
It would be great to make him think about his own insecurities and how most of them were inside his head.
He would be so immersed in the anime universe that he would have to pause the game scenes because he would be too nervous waiting for the ball to fall.
You will probably see him taking a deep breath in each drawing scene of the characters and see him truly cheering for the team as if it were a real national game.
More than that, you will see his eyes full of tears when Yamaguchi hit the serve in the match against Aoba johsai.
In fact, Yamaguchi would be his favorite character. No discussions.
"I said it would be good"
"Shut up"
"Make me"

Mikasa - Heaven’s official blessing
A / N: I'm going to leave the trailer here because I don't know how to define it very well. It's a novel, but the story doesn't focus ONLY on that. (14+)
Okay, you didn't suggest. She did not suggest. So how do you end up watching together? You catch her watching when you come home by surprise lol
Until then, you would know that she watched some anime, but nothing romantic. Never. In fact, that was her little secret.
Although common sense is that Mikasa would be cold even in a modern au (and I agree in parts). I think she would be the type of person who loves to see the sweetest and softest things to melt alone on the couch without anyone seeing. A moment for herself and a part of her that she would not show to anyone.
You would already know about her romantic side, but seeing her under the covers sighing while watching the Netflix special episode is a totally different story.
Please don’t mock her!!. She would be red enough by the time she was discovered.
When she was less shy, she would ask if you want to watch with her. She would say she saw no problem watching it with you again since doing it with you would be a different experience.
If you accept, you would spend the rest of the night in the room sharing a blanket and absorbing the soft atmosphere, the soundtrack, and the Chinese culture so present in history.
She would not speak a lot because she was paying attention, but she would hug you all the time. In the romantic scenes, she would tighten her arms around you a little and sometimes left a kiss on your shoulder.
I think she could relate to Hua Cheng's way of loving. He is always there to protect, care for and see his lover even if sometimes Xie Lian doesn't even know.
And that is what she wants to show you, that more than a girlfriend, she is also someone you can count on.
Days later, you will see her reading the rest of the work around the house because she couldn't stand to wait for a second season.
And later, SURELY melting and vibrating while watching Mo Dao Zu Shi.
