One thing that kind-of annoys me about the Jojo fandom is there is this tendency to portray Giorno as more noble than he actually was. He was fine with deal drugs to adults, it was dealing drugs to kids specifically that he did not like. He had no issues killing people and wanted to be a mob boss. I like Giorno but a paragon of nobility he was not, and I think it is a disservice to the character to water down his less-then-positive traits.

yeah, there’s a lot of truth to that. i think part of the reason why that is is because lots of fan works of golden wind are significantly lighter and softer than canon. there’s nothing wrong with that, especially given how much darker it comes off in comparison to diamond is unbreakable, but as a result a lot of the main character’s negative traits tend to get sanded down, ie, narancia’s more violently destructive outbursts, abbachio serving as an enforcer for a corrupt institution via both the police and the mob with hints that he might be outright bigoted towards giorno because of his ancestry, and yes, giorno’s less than noble traits. a lot of this tends to bleed into how fans view the characters overall, but honestly it’s not nearly as bad as some other fandom mischaracterizations i’ve seen

it’s definitely a disservice to giorno to downplay his more unsavory traits, though. he joined the mob at fifteen and probably thought he was gonna have to work his way up the ladder for years even though they did things like dealing drugs to kids that he explicitly didn’t like. he’s quite an ends-justify-the-means guy, particularly in the long run, though part of what makes him interesting as a character is how those means are always done in service to an ideal. giorno’s proactive approach to most things and how he inspires others through his ideology shapes a lot of the narrative of golden wind, so entirely discounting that would be a mistake, but he’s definitely got quite a bit of the brando family ruthlessness in him that he knows how to use quite well (it’s also possible that fans conflate his character with bruno’s a lot, since bruno is the one who hates drugs the most and who we see more of being openly conflicted about his job as a mob enforcer)

AU where Kunikida Chuuya and Sigma form a “was at some point Dazai’s partner” support group where they drink and bitch about Dazai (Sigma wasn’t his partner but gets honorary membership for everything that happened in Meursault)

more rambling/ headcannons under the cut!

Their drinking habits :

Kunikida— responsible, only has a couple drinks (beer? Whiskey? Something straightforward like that). Usually the good one that doesn’t overdo it unless Dazai has really pissed him off that day. It only happens occasionally but when it does he goes wild and is an emotional drunk. When this happens even Chuuya holds back on drinking a bit bc someone has to be able to lug this guy back at the end of the night

Chuuya- I mean we know his canonical drinking habits. Orders a bottle of fancy wine, his alcohol tolerance is on the lower side but he keeps going anyways. The only way for him to handle thinking about Dazai for this long is to drink heavily but he wants to take the opportunity to bitch about him so this is the solution

Sigma— despite being the owner of a casino I don’t think he’s drank a lot (he’s the manager so he has to be aware of what’s happening). He does have an id that Nikolai forged for him tho so when he joins the group he starts the process of trying a bunch of different drinks. The first night no one warned him about mixing alcohols and he got a different drink every round and got super sick. Now he just tries a different drink each meetup and how many drinks he gets depends on how much he liked/didn’t like what he ordered. Usually is responsible and handles drinking well unless he orders something he really likes (probably a cocktail) and forgets it’s alcohol. He’s a tamer drunk than the other two tho I think. Either a silly drunk or a sleepy drunk. Bc he’s known Dazai the least amount of time he sometimes naturally falls into that supportive friend role of listening to the other two and getting offended on their behalf. Altho I’m sure Dazai still finds ways to make time to bug Sigma so it’s not like he doesn’t have any stories

Speaking of Dazai there’s no way he hasn’t crashed these meet ups before. All his people he likes to annoy are conveniently in one place! ^ ω ^ they have to keep switching up bars/ locations to try and keep him away (to minimal success so far)

Regarding Sigma: I think in this au he made it out of Meursault bc Dazai and Chuuya got him out and he’s woken up. He’s worked with the ada to tell them what he learned, etc but hasn’t fully joined bc he thinks maybe it would be better to just fully live a normal life. Dazai still bugs him and stuff, and when Chuuya one day is also there when this happens he invites him to join him and Kunikida in their routine bitchfest. Sigma goes despite not really trusting either of them (afraid of getting used, clearly knew of chuuya before and saw him as a threat). He gets more comfortable over time tho and they become something like friends (?).

I think it would be funny if Sigma did eventually become an ada member but by Kunikida’s recommendation rather than Dazai’s. Honestly I think Sigma not joining from the beginning would be because Fyodor was the one to say that he wanted to join the ada so he’s now resistant about it, though also it’s because he’s afraid of being used again. He’s just a little conflicted at first.

Hazbin Hotel Agere Headcanons!

A/N: Oooh yesyesyes!! I love Hazbin. My hyperfixation on it is starting to come back HARD. Also this will be a mix of character x character and character x reader simply based on vibes. :3

Characters: Charlie, Vaggie, Alastor, Husk, Angel Dust, and Nifty!

Charlie

Caregiver! She’s like a mom. She loves taking care of others and she’s honestly an amazing caregiver. Like the best ever. Very encouraging and very good at comforting.

Vaggie is her little.

Does well with littles of all ages! But does prefer a little bit if you’re old enough to go out on adventures with her without her having to worry about it too much. :)

Calls you things like “Sweetheart” and “Little one”

Not very strict at all. Just sets a bedtime and makes sure you eat well!

Just overall extremely sweet and loving.

Vaggie

Little. Very reserved and quiet when she’s little. Doesn’t speak much. Prefers to be private about it and gets overstimulated very easy. Not gonna write too much about her because I’ve already made headcanons on her and I don’t wanna sound like a broken record!

Little ages are 4-5 and her caregiver is Charlie!

She likes playing with other littles sometimes. Not for too long, though, because hanging out with people drains her social battery easily. But she still loves playing!

Calls Charlie “Mama” and is very clingy to her, especially in public. She likes when Charlie sings to her. It calms her down a lot. :)

Doesn’t really like rules very much. Not because she’s a troublemaker or anything, rules just make her anxious and she feels a lot of pressure to follow them.

She’s a very shy, awkward baby but she’s adorable!

Alastor

Caregiver. He’s my caregiver actually it’s canon in case you guys didn’t know. He’s violent and manipulative with everyone else, but with you he’s sweet and gentle. He’s EXTREMELY protective, though. Like anybody looks at you wrong and they won’t be heard from ever again.

He’s not a caregiver for anyone except you. You’re the only one he’ll take care of like that.

Does well with littles of all ages but since I’m projecting, I’m gonna say he likes more dependent littles, so like…0-3. He thinks it’s so cute when you babble and waddle and want him to pick you up.

When you babble, he’ll nod his head and be like “mhm…mhm…oh wow!” like he’ll just play along.

He’s also really good at understanding your baby talk. He analyzes and takes note of your baby talk and your mannerisms.

Sometimes if you’re babbling and your babbles are in like…a passionate or aggressive tone, he’ll hold his microphone up to you. Just because he thinks it’s funny.

He loves playing with you and walking around the hotel with you. His little shadow thing plays with you a lot.

He buys you toys, pacifiers, coloring books, anything you want or need!

He’ll use his powers to like. Sing and dress you up and be super dramatic with you. Like that scene in Hazbin where he starts singing and prancing around and changes everyone’s outfits lol.

Calls you things like “Darling”, “my dear”, “beloved”, “sweetheart”, etc.

Likes being called parental names or just “Al”. :)

Very strict. Has a bedtime for you, sets mealtimes, makes you hold his hand around the hotel or outside in general. Also no TV. He does not like TV. :(

But that’s okay, he puts on the radio for you! You can sing and dance around to songs. :3

Overall a very loving and protective caregiver!

Husk

Caregiver. He’s like Haymitch from The Hunger Games. At first he acts annoyed and displeased, but he grows fond of you and enjoys taking care of you and he ends up being a really good caregiver!

He’s your caregiver and sometimes he babysits Angel Dust if Cherri Bomb is busy or just not around.

Does a bit better with slightly older littles. Like 6+ years old. It’s just because they tend to be more independent and whenever you’re regressed, he has to be able to trust you to not get into things you’re not supposed to. Like if he’s watching over you while at work, he needs to trust you to not get into the alcohol lol.

He likes physical affection and needs to have you around him no matter what, surprisingly enough. He’s super soft with you and if anyone else confronts him about it, he’ll tell them to F off and insist that it’s not because he’s clingy; he just risk a child messing things up if he’s not watching them, that’s all!

STRUGGLES with deciphering baby talk and it’s really funny and also another reason why he does better with older littles.

Likes calmer activities. Like if he’s at work, you can sit at the bar coloring or doing a puzzle or something and he’s perfectly content with that! When he isn’t at work, he likes having you in his lap while you color or play. He also really likes cuddles.

He himself tends to act out and be aggressive as a defense mechanism, so he’s actually really understanding when it comes to temper tantrums! He’ll ask you why it is you’re mad and then he’ll try to comfort you.

Like if you throw a fit because you wanted something but couldn’t have it, he’ll straight up gentle parent you. He’ll be like “I understand that you’re mad, and you’re having big feelings right now because you really wanted that, but that is not an option right now.” and then he’ll give you choices of something else you can have or do.

He’ll call you like a shortened version of your name or something related to your personality!

Idk how to explain it but as an example, because I love jellyfish and I go by jellyfish, he’d call me Jelly or something!

He likes any name you give him, although it takes him a bit to warm up to more parental ones! It isn’t that he doesn’t like it, quite the opposite, actually, he’s just not at all used to somebody trusting him like that.

Also pretty strict. Has a nonnegotiable bedtime, makes sure you eat enough and on time, not afraid to put you in time out or take away desert, etc. He isn’t mean, just protective.

He does not trust ANYBODY to babysit you, which is why you tend to sit at the bar right in front of him while he works. If he absolutely HAS to leave you with somebody, he’ll leave you with Charlie, and even then it’s very rare.

Angel Dust

Okay so I don’t really write for Angel Dust, as I’m not really sure how to. Characterize him. I don’t know how to write him very well and I deeply apologize for that. He’s just a very feminine and stereotypical gay man and I don’t wanna somehow be weird. Especially since I’ve seen a lot of gay men say they don’t like the way Angel is written. 😭

That being said, I think if anything he would be a little. Purely involuntary trauma regression. Regression is a trauma response for him and often times, whenever he’s little, he’ll be in his bed, holding Nuggets (I think that’s its name…), and just crying. :(

When he is feeling better and it’s one of the better days, he’s a troublemaker! His little age is around 6 and he’ll run around pulling pranks and generally causing chaos. Alastor isn’t his caregiver or even his babysitter by any means, but if Alastor picks up on it, he absolutely encourages Angel to just. Be a menace.

You have to have rules for him. Like you HAVE to. And even then it’s not like he doesn’t break them a lot. You have to put him in time out and take away TV privileges or send him to bed early a lot.

Cherri Bomb is his caregiver, and she’s like a big sister to him. He calls her “big sis” and “sissy”. She calls him “rascal” and “troublemaker”.

Likes playing with other littles but he can get a bit too rough sometimes. He’s just not very good with interacting with people, but he’s trying!

Overall just a very silly and mischievous little. :)

Nifty

So, I feel like, if anything, she’d be a babysitter! Like she thinks littles and age regression are adorable but she will absolutely encourage acting out. 😭

She’d set up littles to act out, actually. She’d be like “Hey…you wanna go prank Alastor?? :3” and it’s always disastrous 😭😭😭

Does well with littles of all ages! Either way, she’s gonna be like that one aunt that gives your kid a LOT of sugar right before sending them home lol.

Probably mostly babysits Alastor’s little but isn’t his first choice for. Obvious reasons. But if Rosie isn’t available, then he’ll let Nifty or Charlie babysit and if it’s her, all hell breaks loose.

She plays with you a lot. She’ll join in on games of play pretend and even make up story lines! She’ll read you books, color with you, help name your stuffies, etc!

Sorry I’ve written so little for her. I’m not really sure how to characterize her either but I’ll probably update this entire thing once the first season of the show comes out! :)

Todomomo is literally the closest you can get to a autistic4autistic t4t ship without it being canon or intentional.Shouto's dad is an abusive hypermasculine prick who's implied to be misogynistic(teaching Touya his views on women as a kid,that they're 'useless' based off their genders)and Shouto wants to grow up to be the man he never could and refused to be and dosen't care about gender at all,much less conforming to it's roles and gets called a pretty boy a lot and is way closer to his mom and sister than he is to either of his brothers,Momo is the daughter of a rich couple who adultified her to the max in order to make her the ultimate 'proper prim lady' with little regard to her emotions and mental well-being and only care about her when she lives up to their impossible expectations and she had to get that 'I have to be perfect or else i'm WORTHLESS and NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ANYTHING' mentality from somewhere and it's not like she wasn't isolated from her peers by not being allowed to be a normal kid in any way(her mom didn't even let her go festivals and she had to sneak off on her first one with a fear of her finding out in the back of her head the whole time!That is NOT normal behavior for your child to exhibit,Doña Yaoyorozu!!!)and she presents femininily in a way that's viewed as artificial by assholes but it's just genuinely who she's made herself to be!Shouto explicitly inhereted his mother's build and hates that he keeps looking like his dad as he gets older and Momo's said to look older than her girl classmates even disregard her body type and towers over most teen guys!!!

Shouto has a neutral expression that looks purely deadpan and just a bit angry/annoyed and he's awful at socializing and he's insanely good at flirting with Momo but IT'S NEVER ON PURPOSE and Momo has a resting smiling face as her default look and she gets scandalized at regular teen behavior and she's an expert at navigating social situations with practiced politeness and they both take things literally and don't understand the dumb kind of norms and have a special fondness for a particular food because it gives them comfort(cold soba + tea types)BUT ALSO!!!!They have matching additional food motifs(bubble tea specifically + strawberry based things)and cordinated outfits with their own aesthetics(their sweaters,,,,,,that got turned into a running thing in the games and i believe official art too)and are canon cat people(*insert that 'All cats have autism' pic here*)and Momo is a bookworm while Shouto is a comics nerd and Momo got into alt music thanks to Jirou and has a love for desserts and Shouto writes platonic love letters to Rei and perfers the spicier/savoury kinds of japanese food AND THEN THEIR ACTUAL RELATHIONSHIP

Shouto voted for Momo because he thinks she's the best they're is but didn't verbally communicate it to her because it never occured to him he'd need to and Momo admires Shouto just as much and said it outloud to his face from the start and Aizawa being the only that helps them clear up the mix up?????His old autistic man ass that's married to audhd icon Mic?So Shouto goes into detail to Momo's face too about how cool he thinks she is and that's when they officially becomes friends and he never shuts up about her to anyone from then on,this nigga's new special interest is his best girl friend he's got a crush on,and he did notice she was sad when no one else did in an earlier part but had no clue what to do or say to cheer her up so they spend time together now that they're really buds and they both know just what to say to eachother by the War Arc and Momo finds Shouto being a fucking doofus with geeky ass tendencies and moments she could make a youtube compilation out of it if she was lil meaner to be so attractive she says he's perfect for Prince Charming as a role in a play Class 1-A did in one of the novel's.Izuku broke Shouto out of his ice,Jirou and Mina broke Momo out of her doll shell and now neither of them need to mask but what brought them together was being next to eachother at their worsts and at their bests and only thinking the latter no matter what or who said otherwise.Including themselves

Is Amaelia an Aemond obsessive like Patch?

Ohhh boy here we go, time to go nuts over another oc that I wasn't planning on writing but here she is now, aaaaah ok ok ok, so:

She is 100% a daddy's girl. She's up there with Patch even though I think Patch might be a little bit more obsessed with Aemond. Just a little bit.

But Amaelia is definitely smitten with her dad.

If you're carrying her in your arms, and Aemond is beside you, she's just staring at him with wide eyes the entire time, smiling and gurgling and reaching with her little fingers to try to poke his nose or his lips.

When you go to the supermarket and Aemond strays from you two to go pick up dog food, toiletries he needs, or what have you, she's fine for the first few minutes but then she starts fussing until he returns.

In her eyes, he's like a prince (which, in canon, he Is a;sjdfalskjf), with his long hair, which he has to keep braided at all times to prevent Amaelia from getting a hair tourniquet on her little fingers or prevent her from sticking his hair up in her mouth.

A prince or a pirate. I'm sure she's convinced that her dad is an actual character from an adventure/fantasy story because of his scar and missing eye.

Before she's old enough to be told what happened, I'm laughing to myself thinking about Amaelia imagining all sorts of crazy things about how her dad is a hero of some sort. She's never once been afraid of his missing eye, much to Aemond's relief. But rather, that's just another feature in a mix that make Aemond the coolest person ever in her eyes.

She's in her playpen and suddenly in comes Aemond and he just looks so tall and regal; he lifts her up in his arms and suddenly she's up in the air flying and it's the most majestic thing ever.

She's definitely drawn pictures of him in fantasy adventures with her colored markers and crayons. (I hc that she's a very calm kid, and loves sit and draw for hours)

And because he's so tall, he's like her personal jungle gym. She loves to be bounced on his legs, to climb on his back, or have him swing her around in the air. But she also feels the most protected with him.

Because he's so strong, she loves to be in his arms at all times, and she gets a thrill from being so high up in the air when she's sitting on his shoulders. Loves it when Aemond takes her and the dogs to the beach and she feels protected by him amidst the waves of the ocean.

Loves to spend whole afternoons sitting with him while he reads or watches a movie because she's endlessly entertained by studying Aemond's sharp features, or getting lost in the pattern of his pajama pants or knitted sweaters. Until she ends up falling asleep because (1) the movie is too long and boring and there aren't any dragons or princesses in it. (2) The smell of her dear dad is the most comforting thing on the planet.

If you have to go to a family reunion or a work event and she gets annoyed or overwhelmed by all the people, she runs straight to her dad so that he can carry her for the rest of the evening. And it gives him the perfect excuse to leave and go back home.

Also, hates the stroller and prefers to be carried by Aemond, either in his arms or in a sling. He doesn't even complain, even when he splurged on buying the fanciest, most expensive stroller in the marker just for her. He's strong enough that he doesn't get tired of having her in his arms for an entire day out, and also, how could he ever complain about being that close to his daughter?

chop top real name ramble under the cut:

okay so. ive been into TCM for many many years and I remember back before stuff about AAM started surfacing the fanon interpretation of chop's real name was Paul. because in tcm 2 theres a few parts where it sounds like drayton is calling him paul. tbh thats stuck with me cause especially when i was a teen and id look for chop related things online all these old websites and such would have his name listed as paul.

BUT in AAM its robert/bobby right. we all know this and thats what the modern fandom calls him. which is fair considering thats what little info we have about chop in general. however when i see people act like calling him paul is a big deal or that bobby is officially canon its a bit. annoying to put it bluntly.

AAM isn't canon. it never was, and it ESPECIALLY never will be because the chances of it being released are pretty much nonexistent at this point. AAM was and will always be a "fan film." yeah, it may be made by Tobe Hooper's son, but at the end of the day, it isn't canon. hell, they even changed his name because that's how non canon it is. He's called Bloody Bobby because they couldn't call him Chop Top due to copyright.

tbqh i dont mind either name in fact itd make sense for him to go by multiple things anyway, especially before he went to nam cause he was definitely a draft dodger.

although i must admit im a paul truther. and to me, nubbins's real name is robert. they've been switching their names around since they were little kids so much to the point they dont even care which is which. especially since nubbins go by a nickname anyway. and tbf drayton gets them mixed up all the time and always has. also cause to me their names are paul robert and robert paul, so they just use it interchangeably. lets go weirdo twins who see themselves as one singular unit 🫶

btw don't steal my twins names hc thats a personal thing ive had for many years

Baldur's Gate 3, via Osmosis

So I think I played the first Baldur's Gate game for like an hour at a friend's house back in college, and all I remember about it was how delighted I was by the miniature giant hamster. I didn't even know there was a second game until I started hearing people get excited about the third one. That's about the sum of my knowledge of this franchise.

So without more ado, here's what my tumblr dash has taught me about these blorbos (I got @malaloba to huck the screenshots at me, so I didn't spoil myself on the names)

I want to say this one is Shadowheart, but that's too on the nose. She's probably .... Mythrin... Mithras... Mithotyn... Nope, I haven't got it.

She looks grouchy, and like she has a very good reason to be grouchy, and I would assume she's a combat class from her armour, but that's all I've got.

Gale (or Halsin) I know this one! He's the one who turns into a bear in The Cutscene that broke the internet for a few days. That means he'd be a Druid, right? I think he cross classes or something, though.

I hope the furries are having a great time drawing him as an anthro bear with a very large weenie.

Astarion! This vampire twink was all over my dash long before the game was released. Apparently he has a tragic backstory and is a jerk about it in a way that is either annoying or endearing, depending on the player's opinion of vampire twinks. His main role in the game, however, seems to be comically failing to pick locks. This means he's a Thief. Apparently the thing with the bear just had Astarion as the player character, and he isn't canonically dating the bear guy. Oh well.

Halsin (or Gale) The Other One who is Not a Bear. I would have said Bard for his class, but he's glowing a bit much for that here, so maybe a caster? I feel like he's more popular in areas of Tumblr that don't cross my dash.

Karlach or Karlak or something (not Karkat, that's a Homestuck thing).

Lesbians love her! She is large and angry and apparently really easy to romance just by approving of her chopping things with her axe. I think she was a child soldier? I see a lot of jokes about her crappy ex. I think her ex is actually her god and not her ex, though. Anyway, she seems like a prototypical Barbarian, good for her.

EDIT: I just remembered that she has PLAGUE, and is on a quest to Stop Having Plague. This is apparently her ex's fault

Laz'el. Lae'zel. La'zael. Something along those lines. I've seen treatises on her backstory and characterization, and she sounds like a really interesting character. Grew up in a cult of some kind, got dead or something, got abandoned by a crappy god (who might have also gotten dead or something), and is now wandering around trying to figure out how to exist in a world that isn't a cult. Apparently Other Players don't like her and dont't get what's up with her, which is a sore point for her fans (It's very possible that I'm mixing up portions of her backstory and fan reception with Karlach's) Her nose weirds me out (some uncanny valley thing between a skeleton lack-of-nose and a nose-nose), but I think she's pretty neat.

Ok, so if the blue lady at the top of this post isn't Shadowheart, then this one is Shadowheart. When I first saw the name Shadowheart, I thought it was someone's OC, and then I thought it was a generic name for the player character. From what I can gather, she's Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way with the stupid scraped off. She seems to be younger than most the other characters; she and the red tiefling are the kiddos of the group (Astarion doesn't count, because vampire). I think she grew up all sheltered in a weird little cult, too. Did ALL these characters grow up in weird cults? Is that a theme? Did I hear one backstory and apply it to a dozen different characters?

I happen to know for sure that this guy's name is Wyll. Good for me.

I don't know beans about him but I suspect he might be my favourite character when I do finally get around to playing, just from how his peronality is conveyed in fanart.

I get the impression he's the Only Sane Man to all these characters who grew up in cults and divorced dead gods and got vampire'd and whatnot, but he also has horns in like half the fanart and screenshots and is clearly Haunted (metaphorically, figuratively, literally, probably all of the above), so who knows.

As for the second figure here, I know the premise of the game is you've all got brainworms, who are in leage with a mindflayer con man who you can bone but who is also running some sleezy marketing scam, so maybe that's the brainworm made manifest?

I also see a lot of talk about character called Dark Urge, and the fan art doesn't look like that, but if Dark Urge is a manifested brainworm, then it could take various forms.

MY HC OF AFTG!

-Neil- Andrew - (andreil)-

1. Neil has really thick curly hair that is either really short or medium long and at least to the shoulder length in the future, Type of curls he has (3a or 4a) most definitely wears a hair band to pull it out of his face (he started growing it out because it helped him tell the difference between him and Nathan)

2. Neil skin is almond with cool undertone which makes his scars stick out a lot (Neil doesn't care tho)

3. Neil has a really healthy nice weight that mixed in with the workout that he usually partakes in with either Matt, Renee or Andrew make him have a bit of a mesomorph body type (award for Best legs and ass goes to Neil🙌✨)

4. Neil forgets that people find him attractive a lot.

A guy once tried to flirt with Neil and wanted to pick Neil up but once Neil picked up on it he shot him down at first gently but when the guy didn't take no for an answer Neil proceeded to insult and aggressively shoot him down.

5. Neil has slanted eyes with full lips with a down turn (which makes him have a expressive face when he wants to)(he usually uses it to sell a point- effectively lying material)

6. Some people compare Neil's appearance to what the devil must look like charming, unreal and scarily beautiful because of how his eyes sometimes seem like they glow in the dark.

7. Neil doesn't mess with his hair anymore since he stopped running and now barely even touches it if it's not to pull or run quick fingers through it when he takes a bath/shower so Andrew ends up being the one that usually takes care of Neil's hair.

8. Sometimes when Andrew's particularly Petty and annoyed by Neil he makes his food or drinks really sweet (neil absolutely hates it when he does that but he refuses to stop bothering Andrew he's willing to sacrifice a couple of food and drinks if he gets to see Andrew react to his jabs and flirtatious remarks)

9. Neil and Andrew don't cuddle very often due to the problem with sleeping and restricting movements but they do hold hands while sleeping, but in the future they do get better with physical contact while they sleep. (In the future sometimes Andrew will lay on top of Neil and Neil sometimes sleeps with his face pressed against Andrew side while laying on his arm)

10. Neil has dimples and really nice prominent canines. (Andrew's Head over heels with Neils smile)

11. Andrew has cried once only once and it scared the living hell out of neil.

Andrew didn't SOB he didn't even make a noise, he just had a particularly really bad day he didn't want to be touched he really didn't want to even be around people he was sitting on the roof when Neil found him his face was particularly somewhat blank with a frowned and knitted Brown he seemed frustrated even a bit angry, and he was crying.

His face was slightly pressed against his arm with his eyes locked on the buildings almost spaced out he didn't make a single noise to indicate that he was crying the only evidence being the tears that were falling from his eyes and the red undertone under his eyes.

Of course Neil flinched when he saw him like that, he didn't say anything though. He didn't say anything he didn't even make a jab about Andrew wasting a cigarette, no he sat down not too close but not too far away from Andrew, you knew that Andrew knew he was there and chose not to say anything so Neil didn't say anything either if Andrew wanted silence that's what Neil was going to give him.

(If Neil were to talk to Andrew during this time he had the rifle suspicion that Andrew wouldn't have responded anyway.)

Neil sat and watched the city with Andrew for at least an hour until Andrew put out his cigarette and threw it over the edge wiping his tears away on the sleeve of his jacket before he departed from the roof in silence, neil followed behind him after a few minutes more on the roof.

Andrew was missing for a while after that a neil longed on the couch waiting for Andrew to come back with a cartoon playing on the TV (he didn't put it on exy because Andrew didn't like it.)

Andrew did come back after an hour with food but didn't speak about what happened on the roof and Neil didn't bring it up.

He joined Neil on the couch sharing a meal together, after they were done eating Andrew lend on Neils side with the pillow smashed against his chest as his why he watched TV with Neil.

12. Andrew and Allison do become friends, they are the type of friendship that is built off of sarcasm, insults and small gestures of kindness that some people don't even notice.

13. If Neil isn't at the gym with Andrew he's usually with renee or matt.

14. Neil and jean are really good friends (they insult each other. you know, normal bff activities.)

15. Neil really hates that Kevin talks in his sleep and has been caught on multiple occasions trying to suffocate Kevin in his sleep, By Matt laughing as he holds Neil back from suffocated Kevin.

16. Andrew really hates the cold.

17. Andrew usually cooks for him and Neil (Neil doesn't know how to cook and he's in the process of learning how) Andrew doesn't trust neil in the kitchen.

Have you ever considered turning this AU into full-blown OCs? The fandom seems to really upset you man Idk, you've got so much original stuff going that I feel you could make the transition very smoothly. It would separate itself from canon HK clearly as well so there wouldn't be any room for people in the tags getting the two mixed up as much as they do.

i did think about that a few times, but each time i just realized that i don't really want to do that. of course i can never say for certain that it'll never happen, interests change over time after all. but i do really love them the way they are. their designs and their backstories are so connected to their in-game counterparts (even if there are some deviations) that if i tried changing it i feel like they wouldn't be the same characters anymore. especially seeing how i always struggle with coming up with fully original backstories. having the game as the backbone is the main reason why i was able to develop the au like this in the first place. without that, i'd feel a bit lost, and i wouldn't want that to affect how much i think about them

plus i'm really happy with their current designs. they've come a long way since the au started, and i'm finally at a point where i'm satisfied with them. i don't think i'd be able to achieve the same result if i attempted to change them just to differentiate them from the hk versions

and yeah i do complain about the fandom, probably a bit too much, but it really doesn't bother me that greatly. i've just had a really rough couple of days and i get upset at the tiniest things. this was just one of them. sure, people misrepresenting pk is annoying, but it doesn't actually happen very often to fpk, not anymore at least. it's either because i'm lucky, or because a lot of hk people have moved on to different things, or perhaps the au has been around for long enough that people recognize it as more of a separate thing. or at least i hope that's part of the reason

i also can't get that mad cause it's not like fpk is a completely different character. he has done the things people bring up all the time, sure it's not painted in the evil way like a lot of people interpret it as, but his past mistakes are a crucial part of his character. it gets a little annoying sometimes when people make the same unfunny jokes, sure, but it's really nothing that serious. the most recent thing just really set me off because it was directly under a vent piece that i drew to make myself feel better. and even then i feel like i overreacted, it's not like it was obvious that it was meant to be vent art. so i feel like that one might be on me

i'm comfortable in the spot the au is in currently. sure, there are minor annoyances from time to time, but it's really not as bad to the point where i'd consider taking more drastic action. again, i'm just in a bit of a rough spot emotionally, but i imagine it will eventually get better

Yes. Yes I have.

So.

I haven't seen a whole lot of Star Trek AUs for them (and I get it) but how I would approach it personally is two different ways;

One is where Kon and Bart both join Starfleet and more or less have their canon backstories (Kon is a clone, he broke out etc and Bart is from 1000 in the future). The world is more or less a hybrid of modern continuity DC comics and Star Trek during TOS era.

Kon joins in engineering - his TTK is extremely helpful. People look at his arms and think he should be in security. This annoys him greatly.

Bart is in the science division, and engineering, and communications, and navigation, and medical (once). Every time he shows up he's wearing a different uniform. This is purely a gag. There's a lot of whispers about what Bart is actually primarily focused in - everyone can just look it up of course but that just defeats the fun. Starfleet allows this because of his unique abilities and eidetic memory allowing him to perform multiple stations and fill in where needed.

The other iteration take both Bart and Kon in a more Star Trek-weird direction while being faithful to DC and I am more attached to this one as it feels more like a Star Trek AU rather than a Star Trek meets DC AU (we have those in canon actually, read them!).

In this Kon is a clone, but he's a relic of Krypton and is the Last Son instead of Kal-El. A ship found him in cryostasis and dated him as being over 200 years old. Doing DNA analysis they discovered that he was in fact half human but the other half of his DNA was a mystery entirely. The writing on his capsule was eventually deciphered, but the technology housing him is completely unknown.

There are a lot of mysteries about Kon that they slowly piece together, like his name, and about Kryptonians having made contact with 20th century Earth enough to obtain DNA samples to mix with theirs. Why he exists, what his purpose was, the soul crushing truth that Krypton no longer exists and all of its people are gone, extinct, all of these are slowly answered.

He does have his TTK in this, and one of the more hilarious things is Kon did not even know that being away from a yellow sun impacted his powers that much because he used his TTK for nearly everything. He just thought he had 'space sickness' when he was away from 'a planet' too long. The connection wasn't discovered until his TTK 'went weird' due to Romulan flu and while on a planet with a yellow sun he perked up amazingly fast and was still strong. It was a whole thing.

In this I'm leaning more towards him being in communications - because it gives him the best chances of finding out more about himself. He wants to study as much about other people as possible for anything he might be able to use to answer questions about himself.

Also, he was sent to Earth when he was found and he spent a little bit of time among the officers who found him in the first place. Commanders Jonathan and Martha Kent. They give him the name Conner and essentially adopt him, and it doesn't take him long to join Starfleet Academy himself.

Bart in this true to weird-Trek lore was a space anomaly. He appeared one day on Kon's ship and people thought they were at first just seeing things. Then they thought the damned holodeck was acting up. Because people would see him very often in holodeck programs over anything else. It's how Kon and him first met - but Kon of course thought he was an NPC that was just malfunctioning. It happens! But then he started appearing in other places of the ship as a bright yellow glowing sprite.

Bart has very little memories of who he was or what he's supposed to be doing, but he has a feeling he should be 'in the real world' but everything just is going either too fast, or too slow and he just... can't... stabilize.

Eventually, Kon is able to use his TTK to 'trap him' because he is the only one FAST enough to do this. Through shenanigans involving the transporter, science and Kon they are able to stabilize him and he is no longer in that strange speedforce entity state.

Bart sort of wavers in this between being physical and a speedforce being - is much less human and more fey. In fact, even when he does give them physical samples to analyze it is unlike anything they have ever seen and nothing in the known galaxy comes close to him.

Q doesn't fuck with him.

I just think it would be funny if he showed up, saw him, and turned around while saying "Nope!"

It's one of those mysteries that frustrate Starfleet High Command.

Because Bart is in this awkward state they had a plan to take him to earth for study and asylum, and even Vulcan was interested as well, but Bart despite wanting answers about himself and what he was supposed to do wanted to stay aboard the ship because of Kon.

Captain Cassandra "Cassie" Sandsmark fights for his case and Starfleet higher command approves it - she has a way of getting what she wants.

Kon and Bart bond because Kon knows what it is like to be confused about the world and who he is, so he acts as an anchor for him and reminds him that 'it doesn't matter who you were, it's who you are now and who you want to be that's important' .... He says it for Bart but he also says it a lot for him too.

I might write a little more on this odd AU but I have like 30 other projects.

Henlo! You rebloged my post about France in fanfiction and I wanted to reply to it because I found what you said interesting, but because you used just tags would be goofy to reblog it again so I am sending an ask!

I agree about the cannon not helping, the thing is France got better in the cannon, he is more interesting now. I am not very into Prussia so I don't remember if he got better in later parts. But this thing about him being the worst in PruCan fanfic isn't something I noticed in Brazilian Fanfics or maybe I just don't remember lol

I wrote my post at 1 AM and now I stopped to think about what annoys me about how simple and awful Francis' characterization is and I noticed that it simply doesn't have a reason. When I was writing my fic, I wanted to make him bad in a European kind of way, he is France, France really did a lot of shit, he is kind of goofy and useless now? Yes, but that wasn't the case in the Early Modern era.

I also never saw no one exploring his sexuality. Why is Francis overly sexual? Why is he so dramatic? Why is he always trying to get in someone's pants? Real people have reasons to act overly sexual, they aren't just born this way, but WHY I NEVER SEE NO ONE ASKING THOSE QUESTIONS??

Hiii! First, I adore your blog. Thank you for introducing me to the world of TurkFra. My eyes have been opened and my mind widened.

I almost think the fandom needed to go through the "dark times" or "dark age" of character interpretation to get where we are now. I know there was for sure a shift happing when I dipped out of the fandom in 2016ish. And when I started occasionally reading fanfics again during lockdown I was blown away with the shifts regarding the characterization of nearly all the characters.

Totally agree with you 100% about interpreting a character like France in a way where he is bad shit person, because of the actual actions of France. Imo its really important to include things like that into every nations characterizing when engaging in more "real life inspired" characterization. Almost have to wonder if the rise in popularity of historical hetalia has had anything to do with this change. While it was sorta a thing in the early years of the fandom, it didn't really seem to have much of a collective following and community. And now it seems that characters of empires/colonists like France/England/America/Russia etc. have shifted away from being written to have very goofy and comically negative traits more in-line with the 2008-2012ish canon to having their negative traits rooted more in the real-life negative habits or traits of the real world nations. I'd also wonder if the average age in the fandom has gone up which has helped characters simply be better developed.

The "bad touch trio" was super common back in the day. It was France/Prussia/Spain. Pretty much the entire characterization for them all ended up being sex addicts who went around well, SA or SH other nations. That mixed with the very silly "everything is based on basic national stereotypes" vibe of early canon I think just made i so a character like France ("nation of love"/the idea that the French are much more sexually liberated then the English or Americans) was very one-sided even when other charters were getting a little bit better of treatment. I also always felt like France was never as popular in the American/English fandom as American and England. So he (and often Canada) would sorta just thrown into things without much development character-wise.

You bring up so many good points!!! legit I have always thought about things like this.

TW D*ATH THREATS, S*ICIDAL THOUGHTS, TRAUMA AND ABUSE

I JUST FEEL I NEED TO GET THIS OUT BEFORE GOING OFFLINE

Alright so…I think I am gonna go offline again for another long while, go back into hibernation. I was feeling good at first being back but I can’t help but feel anxious atm. Nothing bad happened to me (surprisingly), but I can’t help but always worry if I may somehow make a fool of myself or mess things up again. I actually did find out whilst scrolling through old onward posts that some of the girls who gave me a hard time had deactivated their accounts. I feel a bit safer in that regard. But it just sort of feels too good to be true you know? I can’t help but feel like there’s a danger looming somewhere.

Idk if it’s just my anxiety, trauma or if my gut is telling me something.

Before I go I just wanna say a few things. Thanks for showing me some support. I know I am not perfect, I am far from it. I have a horrible habit of overanalysing things and getting worked up for little to no reason. For that I am sorry and I am so so so sorry if I ever made any of you worry or even hurt any of you if I ever have any of my bad panic attacks. I have a terrible anxiety disorder, I am not using it as an excuse but just to try and explain myself. I am doing my best to get better and have finally found some therapy and new medication to help.

However I will say there have been times where my meltdowns were necessary, such as when I got called horrible names and got d*ath threats and saw posts with rumours about me or posts calling me “A disgusting freak who should get fucked.”. I think those ones are worthy of crying over because honestly who wouldn’t, anxiety or not? You would have to be inhumanly strong to feel nothing when dealing with all that.

I have a lot of trauma, even before the few mean girls on tumblr in the Onward fandom. I had been stuck in an abusive platonic relationship for a year and the falling out was rough. She got super vengeful and almost destroyed my life in ways I won’t get into. I had people I looked up too suddenly gaslight me and make fun of a scared teenage me who was seeking help when I felt suicidal. Literally an ENTITE fandom harassed me nonstop. I selfshipped with another character before but a lot of people were angry at me for that. They were so obsessed with their own ships that they saw me as something of an eyesore getting in the way of the ships they like, so they bully me for self shipping with him. Some even tried to manipulate me into self shipping with another character who I had no feelings for and giving up on my fictional ex so he can be shipped with another canon character. My abusive friend tried to do that with me and far worse constantly. The onward fandom actually really supported my self ship for the most part. I have nothing to do with that old fandom anymore but it did turn up on my dash and it was more of the same sort of old chaotic drama. It is literally the most toxic fandom on the fucking planet and it destroyed my love for that show. Hell, I even started blocking any blog related to it I see just to help myself feel safer! Part of why I did deactivate my old DA account was because I wanted to get away from all that. I did have a few fans who wanted me to keep drawing for it but I got threats almost daily as well. I wanted to focus on Onward but many didn’t exactly respect that. There was a lot more to why I deactivated but that’s the gist of it.

I won’t get into more details but you can probably understand where I’m coming from with all this. Trauma and an anxiety disorder don’t mix well AT ALL!

If I had to guess I think that is why I am still so fearful of being online. I fear something will go wrong. Either if it’s another bully or if I make another mistake.

I want to apologise to anyone if I have been annoying, stupid or anything like that. I am doing my best to recover and learn to cope with my mental health bit by bit. I just hope you can understand, forgive me and enjoy your life.

I am still drawing and writing as much as I can while offline. So when I do eventually come back it’s gonna be like an explosive of content from me LOL

I kinda feel like it helps too, it’s so it’s not like “when’s the next part coming, when’s the next part coming?” If I already have the next part ready and in the works. Idk, I’m just trying to figure out how to share my artwork while still managing my mental health.

Sorry for randomly venting, I just really really feel I needed to get it out there desperately. Again, thanks so much for showing me support!

Here's something fun I thought of. Since you relate a bit of Embry with Hangman, which wrestler do you associate with your other cyberpunk OCs with? 👀

Oh my god, mi rey, I love this question so much KUJHDSGLJKS okay, sit tight, because I'm gonna likely ramble. I'm gonna go off of AEW wrestlers since that's the show I keep up with weekly djkfghlsd

Salem is my boy that has the most wrestler inspos, because he's my special boy and I look for him in everything. His is more detailed because I feel I gotta explain why I picked each one for him. 😅

Fighting Style: Jon Moxley. Salem likes to fight and he gets brutal when he wants to. He's not a stranger to bleeding, and has a similar bloodlust like Mox that gives him that rush during his fights. He also has that swagger to him, that cocky 'I'm going to enjoy this' aura when he knows he's about to throw down. In my wrestling!AU (literally just a concept and a reason to assign my OC's wrestlers lmao), Salem would likely be a deathmatch wrestler with strong leanings to grappling and 'dirty fighting', such as biting and scratching.

Personality: Eddie Kingston and Hook. So hear me out, because I know that's two polar opposites, kinda. Salem has Eddie's confrontational personality, where if you start shit with him, you best back it up. He will call someone out and he will get up in someone's face. He's not afraid to challenge someone, especially when he feels disrespected or is pissed off enough. He also has Hook's broody, quiet demeanor though, most of the time when he's not getting his buttons pushed. He's always has a resting bitch face where he looks angry or annoyed--but it's part of his allure 🤭

Aesthetics/Presentation: I'll always use House of Black as aesthetic inspo for Salem--particularly Brody King. I like Brody's wrestling attire, especially during his entrance. With the hood and the ski mask and the thick ass chain. I think Salem leans more with that look. But also bringing Hook up again, because Salem's a plain black hoodie guy as well.

Putting the rest under a Read More 🖤

Paolo and Paola, are a mix of various tag teams. These two are a duo that are inseparable and are a package deal, so it makes sense to base them off of a few tag teams (which are my fav). However, the team that I associate them the most are The Young Bucks, because of course.

A pair of siblings that pretty much go out of their way to be obnoxious as possible while remaining loyal to their group (like they are with Kenny and with each other). They're doofy, they're not afraid to look silly and dumb, in fact they lean into it with all the dumb shit they like getting up to. The twins would likely be heels because it's so fun for them to be chaotic gremlins.

And here's a bonus one, an extra for Paolo because I've really latched onto Daniel Garcia, and I see a lot of DG in him. I kinda even associate his voice and the way he speaks with Paolo, I imagine my boy sounding like him.

Judah is interesting because he's not exactly a fighter in his canon story, BUT he will when he needs to/has to. He's arrogant and so, so full of himself. He's rich, he's handsome, he's better than you--you know there I'm going with this. 😎Judah is MJF, though and through.

Like MJF (pre-face turn), Judah doesn't fight unless he has to. He prefers to run his mouth most of the time and weasel his way out of situations his shit talking gets him into. He'll hire people if he needs to. He has zero problem throwing people under the bus to get ahead and knows how to twist and manipulate things to benefit him. But when he does actually decide to act, he's actually skilled af. He's just more of a talker. Charisma is more his style.

However, in recent development...Judah has also had a little face turn of his own. In my story, he softens up considerably when my others manage to befriend him. He might still be a scumbag, but he's their scumbag. 🖤

I'm going to include Embry anyways, because I love him and his wrestler association. So obvs, I'm going with Hangman Adam Page for my sunshine boy.

Embry is just a really good guy, very likeable and it's not hard to rally behind him. Of course, he still has some of his not-so-wholesome traits (Hangman's entire storyline of feeling inadequate and the more brutal side of him that comes out in certain feuds/matches). Embry contains multitudes, and sometimes they so even if he tries to hide it.

Plus, there's the whole aesthetics with the blond hair and the southern, cowboy vibes. Even more so with the mustache and beard 🥴Which Embry eventually grows out at some point in his story.

Renato is the one where I have the most trouble with and don't really have one assigned for him because he's still my most underdeveloped OC. I did like Andrade a lot and often associate him with Renato--looks and aesthetics wise. I wish I had more of an answer for him 😭He's just extremely illusive, but he's slowly coming into his own.

Note: maybe OOC, some of these are kind of far fetched (Also I didn't read any of the paid scenes so I’m sorry if I got something canon wrong)

Renovating is pretty exhausting so of course a lot of work means a lot of rest. There's many ways to do so such as sitting down with some tea and snacks, reading together or to each other, cuddling or watching movies; either way you spend this time together quite often

speaking of movies, movie and show nights! At first at least there might be more of Casimir nerding over the technology than watching though /hj. Someone just please show this man the Beauty and the Beast. Or Transformers. First one is self explanatory, second one I just think would be funny. Also maybe Howls moving castle. That might be super far fetched but I think he'd like studio Ghibli.

Bonding with Mimi! Casimir really wants to gain back her trust and having you be there calms him Mimi. Though it's better than it used to be already there's still some tension between them and you're definitely helping. You also get to spend time with both of them so that's definitely a win!

You cannot convince me this man doesn't go into hour long rants and rambles about his interests after you asked one simple question. He can get pretty lost in it once he started and tends to get a little embarrassed about it once he realises. Cmon, he was all by himself for multiple centuries, he's not used to people being around. You encouraging him to go on, asking questions or referencing things he told you later on means a lot to him.

Of course it goes both ways, he absolutely loves listening to you talk, especially about things you're passionate about and will try to bring it up again later or engage in your hobbies with you together. He genuinely wants to know about you and your interests, for one he hasn't really heard from/about anyone else for a very long time (not counting cats and buildings) and also you're, of course he wants to hear everything you have to say

Okay okay okay this one's my personal favourite: hide and seek. I actually might write a whole own thing about that at some point soon because it'd just be so much fun! The house is quite big with super many hiding spaces. Now it's not something he'd suggest and yeah it might take some force persuasion to convince him but if you ask him really really nicely hell probably say yes, or just annoy him till he agrees (even more effective if Rainier joins). Alternatively just hide somewhere so he has no choice but to search (you definitely gave him a heart attack the first time you did that)

Casimir is old fashioned (I mean- how wouldn't he be) so your regular date nights are pretty classic. Usually it's a romantic dinner (brought to you by The House TM), sometimes it's dancing (like that one paid scene(? Is there one? Or am I mixing something up? Idk); he was taught to be a gentleman and he's gonna use that /hj

Bringing him modern things from shopping trips. It started off by you bringing him something he was curious about after you mentioned it and quickly developed into a habit of you bringing him trinkets whenever you're out. His curiosity makes you much more aware of how interesting even little thins can be and soon turned to you coming back from trips out the house with a bag of things like toys, gadgets and other fun things from the dollar store or similar. You then spend the day looking at what you brought, how it works and so on. Imagine spending the day with Casimir trying out a bunch of toys you bought or found with your old stuff (the type for children, don't think wrong here)

adding onto this because I love the idea of doing fun childish things with him (you'd have to be the one to initiate them though, potentially ‘force’ him, but he secretly enjoys it). Silly sleepovers with pillow forts, movies, teeny magazines (I want to just hand this guy a stack of these teen magazines and see what happens so bad), and snacks!

related a bit to the one above but spa days! He definitely needs some more self care. I do kinda think he likes stuff as skincare and and used to have a routine (nobility and stuff) he likely had to cut short or even drop it completely with the house's hostility. But now you're there and not only are there so many products your world has for this, it's also much more fun together, leading to entire days planned only for spa and wellness activities (like doing each other's nails, I have a little theory connected to Casimir and acrylic nails but that's all I'm saying on that)

I feel like I have to say something to end this smoothly sooo Casimir supremacy!!

I have a very normal asks from the worlds most normal person: what do you think are Jake’s feelings towards the cities they live in? Chicago, London, maybe eventually New York? Is anywhere home for him, or is ‘home’ still in the works?

Heeyyyy when I said send normal asks I did not. . I did not anticipate u to come in here with one that makes me feeeeeel things. Okay. Let’s do this.

(Disclaimer, I am not a traveled person, I’ve only lived in an actual city for a couple semesters, I’m a rural middle-of-nowhere tiny-town bitch, I’ve never been to any of these cities, full disclosure.)

Jake, I think his feelings about Chicago are mixed at best. Their time in Chicago was the time they were living at home with their family. With their father and their mother. As far as the city as a whole, I don’t think Jake has much hate for it, but it’s Marc’s hometown, not his. He did what he was meant for there, and eventually they left.

New York? I think they’ve already lived in New York for a period of time, mostly because I feel like it more than there is any canon evidence in the show. At the very least, some work for Khonshu got done there (“New York” among the sand-zombies in the Duat). Perhaps between the discharge and the mercenary work. I don’t see Marc returning to Chicago during that time. So.

During that time, they’re just trying to get by, make ends meet. Comics have Marc fighting/boxing for cash at this time, and Jake absolutely would try to pull his own weight too. This is when he’d start driving a cab, and I think it’s a time where Jake’s own sense of self, of identity outside of being part of a system, flourishes. He meets people as himself, not needing to play as Marc or even Steven to people who already know them. Finds his own sense of style, flat cap and all. Maybe Marc has a bit of depression facial hair going and when Jake goes to take care of them, to shave it, he looks in the mirror, only really the mustache left, and he sees himself. A time for Marc that was marked (heh) with pain and desperation, feeling lost and purposeless, is a time where Jake carves out (heh) his own self-concept.

And he makes bonds, however temporary, however impersonal, and he’s part of a community. He picks up the New York accent, he gets to use more Spanish, he’s going to Latin dance clubs and to bars, he’s rooting for the Mets (fuck the Yankees, real New Yorkers bleed for the Mets). (He finds some satisfaction in the Mets beating the Cubs, in talking trash about Chicago deep dish pizza not being pizza, NY style is where it’s at. Marc isn’t aware of him yet, but Jake’s desire to fuck with him, older brother style, still permeates through as does his quiet resentment of Marc.)

In London, again, this city isn’t really his. Before their mother’s death, it was Marc and Layla’s, and when Marc was able to lie to Layla about doing work for Khonshu when he was really letting Steven front, it was Steven’s. Afterwards, when Marc has pulled back as much as he could with Khonshu still bossing him around, Steven is at the front most of the time. Jake’s managed to get himself into the cab-driving business in London, but it’s different. He finds his spaces though, primarily in Latino-populated areas, and he learns football, though he’s still not gotten a hold on cricket. Music and dance is the same at its core wherever you go, and he holds tight to the respite of a good restaurant (Looking at you, Gena’s Diner: But Make It In London -- also: Gena, Latina? Big fan of that hc, idk if anyone else has it but).

I also think the social culture, the style of manners and politeness, is something Jake doesn’t particularly like all that much. He found himself in NY, mastering those customs of social interaction to the point that he may as well have invented them, and moving to London and having to learn new ones? Annoying, to say the least.

TLDR; Chicago is where he was born, New York is his hometown, London is where he lives. But I don’t think he feels like he has a home. Not yet anyway. He has his own belongings. His cab has his things, his clothes, it’s his. Hell, the limo (his latest venture in business, which is booming btw) is his. He’s found a niche in London like he did in NY, but nowhere will ever be home to him. Home, for Jake, is unobtainable. But what he doesn’t realize is that Home is perfectly within reach. And it’s through co-existence with, acceptance from, and balance in his relationship with Marc and Steven.
