Core type- Passion: fear. For e6s life is like a huge threat. They are convinced everyone is against them. They even see their own fear as a safe space, something that can guarantee physical safety. Fixation: cowardice. Due to the constant doubt, they lead to create an infinite amount of unrealistic worst case scenarios to prepare themselves for anything. Trap: security. To protect themselves, they often look for someone stronger than them. They expect this person to keep them safe from impending disaster, and devote themselves to this person completely. Defence mechanism: projection. To avoid rejection and keep their self image of being loyal, they attribute feelings, thoughts and most importantly fears, onto an external source. This is called projection. Virtue: courage. Once e6s realise nothing can harm their essence, they can allow courage to replace fear. Key traits: Hypervigilance, theoretical orientation, orientation to authority, doubt and ambivalence, contrarian thinking, self-fulfilling prophecy,

Subtypes- Self preservation [sp]: The sp6 is often called the most fearful subtype, they’re the most in touch with their fear. They close their true self off and create an image of friendliness to avoid arguments and such. They can drop this act once people get closer to them and they start feeling uncomfortable by this intimacy. When this happens they often start to either close themselves off from this person completely or lash out. Sexual [sx]: Sx6s are pretty much the opposite, they think that once people think their kind, they're seen as weak. To avoid this they create fake courage and strength. They often want to be seen as a leader, because when they’re the ones with power they need not worry about those who may have more. Social [so]: So6s often hide behind people with more strength and courage than them. They’re extremely loyal, the downside of this is that they put full trust in these people. What this person of power says is always true in their eyes, the other way around, they blame mistakes they’ve made on this person as well, giving them full responsibility over the so6.

Contradictions- ENTP, ENFP, ESTP, ESFP, ESFJ, ENFJ E6 is mostly an introverted type, this is mostly due to cowardice, security and projection. Their extroverted cognition and lack of cognitive and logical structure leads these types to be incompatible with e6. However, Te is widely considered to be compatible with the subtypes sx and so. Naranjo also compares sx6 and ENTJ specifically. Types you might want to look into if you are on this list are e1, e2, e3, e4, and e8.

Stranger Things: Max Mayfield: ISTP 6w5

Myers Briggs: ISTP

Ti: Max is very analytical. She understands how things work in the world around her, and applies that logical understanding to the Upside Down. She quickly figures out how Vecna’s curse works based on the files she reads, and despite not being a “nerd” like her friends, often surprises them with logical insights. She makes logical, impartial decisions, even risking her life selflessly, because she knows it is the best course of action. She always argues based on logic as opposed to emotion when convincing her friends of her point, even in emotionally charged situations. She’s good at “hacking” different aspects of the Upside Down with her Ti- like using the Sauna Test on Billy when he’s possessed by the Mind Flayer.

Se: Max is very impulsive and trusts her gut. She lives in the moment, pursuing what she wants and not thinking about future repercussions, like when she takes Jane to the mall in Season Three. She does, however, fall into a Ti- Ni loop in Season Four, not living in the moment and withdrawing inward. She is very physically active and enjoys skateboarding. She is practical and more interested in the immediate world than her “nerdy” friends, preferring to improvise than to learn the theoretical explanations of the Upside Down.

Ni: Max likes to develop a plan before leaping into action. She uses her internal logic to assess the situation first, then formulates a plan using those same Ti hacks. She’s good at laying out a detailed plan for how to solve any Upside Down related problem, coming up with clever, creative solutions. She is intuitive about the Upside Down and good at drawing conclusions from the available information about Vecna’s plan.

Fe: Max is selfless and willing to sacrifice herself to save her friends and the world. She doesn’t find it easy to open up to people, especially after the trauma she experiences, but finds it helpful to work through her emotions with Lucas when she feels ready. In season two, she is hurt when her friends don’t tell her things about the Upside Down, because she wants to feel part of the group. Point 6

Point 6 is known as "Ego-Cowardice". The fixation is also known as "Over-Adventurer".

This ego derives from the Practical Ego, which is a response to the Adaptation Instinct. The psychic poison of the Adaptation Instinct at the root of Ego-Cowardice is Deceit.

Ego-Cowardice experiences a sense of being Useless in the childhood relationship with siblings and/or peers.

The main ego-characteristic of this fixation is Insecurity. The Passion which feeds this ego is Fear. The primary defence mechanism is Projection. Worsening of this fixation can lead to Paranoid Personality Disorder. A secondary defence mechanism is Conversion. Further worsening leads to psychosomatic illness.

Becoming fixated in the Domain of Work and Activities, there is a swing to the dichotomies of that domain. This can manifest in a positive sense as Labor on one side, or Amusement at the other side. It can manifest in a negative sense as Overwork at one extreme or Loafing at the other extreme. These dichotomies are represented by two characters: the Workhorse at one end, the Idler at the other. Worries invade the consciousness in this domain. The stress of being fixated and imbalanced in this domain can lead to Panic as a compensatory mechanism. The poison of this domain is Jealousy.

The Trap which simultaneously restricts but potentially liberates this ego is its focus on Prudence. The Way of self-realization of this ego is the Way of Action, which is to realize that our actions must be internalized if they are to be real actions.

The Holy Idea which acts as a catalyzer for the transformation of this ego is Holy Strength, or Divine Strength. This can lead to the Virtue (energy) of Courage.
