Hello, I've seen lots of people type this way and it really confuses me: they'll have their enneagram with wing e.g. 7w8, but then their tritype beginning with a different enneagram e.g. 953. How can this be??
It can't, this is a misinterpretation of the theory, likely by only just starting to get into typology and using simplified sources such as truity or enneagram institute. These sources are often vague about the functions of wings and their importance, leading people to typing their core type with the wing in mind, and their tritype based solely on whichever type description they relate to most. Though if 7w6 with the tritype 953 is a reference to an actual type you've seen, I don't know how they got to this conclusion to be honest. it might be because of a description of this specific tritype as a whole.  Regardless of why, enneagram doesn't work like that. People typing themselves in this way likely do so because they just haven't found the right sources, which is fair because it can take quite some looking around. Personally I do try to point it out whenever I see this, but do make sure to go about it respectfully!

hello, im quite new to typology so i wanted to ask if IT(N) TiNi sp594 LII LVFE makes sense or does it contradict? if so, what should i look into to correct my mistake?
btw ur enneagram summaries helped me a lot! thank you:3
Many thanks to you as well! I'm really glad they did^^ The only thing you should probably have another look at is your psychosophy type. Considering you're pretty new to typology, I'm going to guess you might’ve ran into a pretty common mistake I see people make in py, that being instinctively ordering the aspects from most to least relevant to you. While the first two functions are generally called “strong” functions, and the latter two “weak” functions, there is quite a bit more nuance to it. I won't be going into that entirely, as i don't know if this is the case exactly, i would advise you to read more up on the functions in either “The Syntax of Love” by Alexander Afanasyev (this particular topic starts at pg.14) and/or pdbwiki.  Based on the py type you’re typed as now and the rest of your typology, LFEV might be a good fit, though FLEV would also be compatible!

hi !! can i ask if; IN(F) NiFe IEI 6w5 sp / sx 694⠀ELVF²¹⁴³ r/L/Ua[I]⠀mel - phleg, make sense? T_T
The only thing that’s odd is your py type, sp6 is pretty much only compatible with LEFV, though ELFV is often debated on as well. Mainly the 4F is weird in this combination, considering sp placements are very much concerned with their physical environment and being in some way, which 4F placement tend to be quite ignorant of. 4V is also a very obvious placement for sp6, as their fear tends to be surrounding people (particularly authority) and decision, leading to being overly passive.  Considering you’re already typed as 1E and 2L, I recommend looking at ELFV specifically regardless of its debatability, while of course also keeping LEFV in mind and reading that over.

That does sound really cute though! I don't know how much experience you have with sewing, but you can be very precise and careful with hand sewing, so maybe getting some old rags for practice and having seam rippers near you at all times might make it work. I think if you figure out how to sew the flowers in some specific way, it might be quite easy to take out later in case you change your mind with little to none damage to the fabric. Thinking about this also made me consider that I could maybe hand sew reversible changes to the neckline of my dress! I'll be washing it first, but after that I think I'm gonna try and figure out what my options are when it comes to that.
I've been incredibly busy with school, hence I haven't been able to respond to a bunch of asks (I’m soso sorry!! I will get to you later this week I hope!), this isn't even related to typology at all but I just need to kind of throw this dilemma into the void because I'm losing it! Basically today I finally had time to go into the city, mostly for thrifting, during which I found a 1920s waitress dress and it's absolutely gorgeous and I had to get it or I would die. It was like 60 euros, so really quite pricey, but I did not care. The one problem is that the neckline is pretty low, which I do tend to be uncomfortable with and while there I just though Id alter that a bit and move on, however now I'm realizing that if I fuck it up, not only have I wasted 60 euros, but more importantly i would ruin a beautiful dress that has existed for about 100 years. Even if it does go well, I'm still worried about the fact that i have messed with a dress that old and that beautiful, but if I don't do anything, I might not get the joy out of it I'd hoped to and/or I would have to wear a shirt underneath it which looks intensely awkward…

Hello!
I’m trying to find information on Attitudinal Psyche, specifically subtypes. do you have anything i can study?
Attitudinal psyche is one of those sneaky systems that's easier to find and understand than the one it’s copying, which in this case is psychosophy. I'm not as against ap as I am against 16personalities or rheti, in fact I would say that it's a decent place to start. But I do beg of you to not stop there!! you can find a lot of the info on ap on their site, and alongside py you can find a bunch of info on pdbwiki as well. There is a full book dedicated to py, "The Syntax of Love" by Alexander Afanasyev, which gets a bit questionable at times, hence I don't recommend to just jump into that immediately, but it's still one of the best sources considering its written by its creator. There's also this document on the subtypes, though i forgot who put it together :(

That isn't actually how introversion nor e3 works! Introversion and extroversion in the context of jungian systems such as mbti are about the way you interact with the world around you. An introvert will approach things in a subjective and abstract manner while an extrovert will do this in a more directly observable and objective manner if that makes sense. Essentially, introversion experiences a certain disconnect from reality due to this intangible perception of it, which, as I hoped to explain clearly enough in my post - although apparently not well enough - is incompatible with e3. E3 isn’t always about actually being better than others, sometimes, oftentimes, it’s mostly about just wanting to seem like you are; e3 is nothing if not image. Image, when seen and utilised this way, is impossible when viewing physical reality as immaterial, thus making e3 incompatible to introversion. I hope this was able to clear it up more!
Enneatype 3 summarised!!
Core type- Passion: deceit. E3s want to be known for their status and accomplishments. In order to keep this up, they won't admit to anything that might harm this image, thus using deceit. Fixation: vanity. They create strategies on how to make this image and appearance they care so much about as impressionable and useful as possible. Trap: efficiency. They always search for ways to reach their goals, and so improve their status, faster. Having little patience for others and even themselves. Defence mechanism: identification. To keep up this status, e3s take on parts of another person that make them seem impressive and so build up their status and fit in with the people they feel like they would as themselves. Virtue: truthfulness. They need to realise their essence can't change and they don't need to use their deception in order to keep their external image and status. Key traits: Other-directedness, achievement orientation, focus on success, competitiveness and the drive to win, image manipulation and self-deception,
Subtypes- Self preservation [sp]: The sp3 is less concerned with overall image and more so with their security in success. They want to achieve for what it gets them, like money. They can appear similarly to e1s sometimes, as they care about doing things the correct way. Once something isn’t correct, it could take away from the security they constantly work on to achieve. Sexual [sx]: Sx3s are more concerned with having an attractive image than things like money and security. While they can be very hard working, this is always to support someone and help them achieve success or security. They fear letting people down in these ways, they work to avoid being seen as a disappointment to those around them. Social [so]: Deceit is probably the most active in the so3. Their image is their all, they see life as a stage where they must appear perfect and successful. They need to show off importance in money with external things everyone can see, like clothing or accessories. Success for them is purely based on social validation and hierarchy.
Contradictions- INTP, ISTP, INTJ, ISTJ, INFP, ISFP, INFJ, ISFJ Any cognitively introverted type is incompatible with e3. This is due to its inherent dependence on social and materialistic value and success. Even a subtype like sp3 wouldn't be compatible because it's still reliant on materialistic value and security. Types you might want to look into if you are on this list are e1, e4, e5, e6 and e7.
Compatible types- Self preservation: ESTJ, ENTJ, ESFJ, ENFJ Sexual: ESFJ, ENFJ, ESTJ, ENTJ, ESTP, ESFP, ENTP, ENFP Social: ESFJ, ENFJ, ESTJ, ENTJ, ESTP, ESFP, ENTP, ENFP

soooo i have came to the conclusion that i am probably an Isfj, but also sx3? which i looked up and shouldn’t be possible? i’m so confused. i thought at first i was a 9 but that didn’t sound right even tho it’s compatible and none of the other enneagrams seem to fit either.
also i looked at your link tree and briefly glanced through Socionics and weirdly enough SEE seemed to kinda fit too. which i think is also a contradiction? am i just missing something lol
ISFJ and sx3 are definitely very odd. Sx3, and e3 as a whole, is a very cognitively extraverted type so there’s a chance you might want to look over the extraversion and introversion dichotomy again. I don’t know which sources you're currently using, but if you've grown pretty familiar with the system I'd recommend you to pick up Jungs ‘Psychological Types’. If you do end up still relating more to cognitive introversion, ISFJ and SEI, you might want to take another look at e9, and specifically so9. I have a friend who has previously mistyped as sx3 and ended up being so9, and it's described to be a more active subtype in that way.

I've typed myself ESFP 7w6 749 EFLV sx/so (not sure about socionics and jungian, and still debating my attitudinal psyche one because ap is a bit too convoluted for me), does this contradict? I've seen people say sx7 contradicts Se but I seek out intense experiences, people and things then basically milk it of all the obsession/excitement it gives me until I find something else entertaining as an escape from boredom in a very sx7 way, I just don't relate to the heavily Ne/Ni-based description of it that states sx7s are dreamers who are drawn to ideas/the future. Also, what would my socionics and jungian type be? Thanks!
Sx7 and Se very much do contradict, e7 as a whole is pretty much focused on this idea of possibilities, particularly present in the fixation of planning and trap of idealism. What you're referring to with seeking out intense experiences and milking those is only a part of the passion for gluttony, the way you described it might even fit better with e8s lust. If you’ve avoided typing as this in the past due to a more stereotypically aggressive image related to e8 i would recommend you to read the so8 description, which differs quite a bit in this sense. Unfortunately there’s no book on e8 alone, I'll try to link other more in depth sources. (pdbwiki is probably the most complete you can get, if you want any specific source, feel free to ask and i’ll see what i can do :3)
For your Jung you'll most likely have to look into ES(F) and for socionics SEE. Both correspond to ESFP directly, which I've talked a bit about before, when you use all systems at the same time they'll have to connect.

Quick (announcement/update??) post, I have a bunch of exams coming up the following 2 weeks (starting October 30th) and a number of asks I have yet to respond to. To everyone who's send me asks, don't worry, I'm not ignoring you! I'm just not gonna have the time to respond to everything right now, but I will be getting back on it on the 9th~ of November. This is not me telling you to stop asking me things, I just might take a bit to actually respond to questions. Okay that's it, I need to get back to studying now!

As I mentioned, this isn't a contradiction I pay too much mind to and do consider debatable, especially when in the context of mbti alone. However, in practice it is also important to consider how it works with its equivalent in Jungian and socionics. Socionics and mbti should both correspond directly to their Jungian type, considering both hold their essence within Jungian. Now, in mbti ISTP alone works perfectly fine with sp9, but the moment we take socionics into account (Jungian as well, but I'll focus on socionics right now) this falls apart.
I'll be quoting bits of Gulenko’s LSI description on wikisocion and Naranjo’s book on e9 (sp9 trait structure section) in case you want to go over it. “LSI is a person of strong will, diligent and enduring. He/she is insistent and demanding in execution and verification of tasks. Takes care of those who are confused and uncertain, explains to them how they can do their work.” - - “It is repeated in the life of E9 conservation letting things happen (God will provide) and a lack of determination and diligence when facing day to day. This strategy is based on the idea that there is something bigger that decides for you what has to happen or not.”
“Methodical, disciplined, committed to accuracy and organization - these are the fundamental characteristics of this type [LSI] , which establish his reputation as a reliable person. He can be trusted in fulfilling his promises. Will perform them faithfully. He is not dynamic, but very strong-willed and authoritative person, who will get what he wants not by swoops and impulses, but via patience, commitment and attrition.” -  - “He [e9] is better at postponing than facing. He easily postpones everything he does not like or finds too tiring because it leads to arguments or conflict. Or he postpones because the situation calls for organization and movement and he does not know where to start, he gets lost and gives up. “
“Stoic: can keep himself [LSI] in control, tolerant of adversities. Will force himself to do that which is necessary but uninteresting to him.” “a sober realist, who does not tolerate infertile, unrealistic fantasies.”-  - “He [e9] is under the illusion that his kingdom is not of this world and that he can live in another. In his infantile escape from reality instead of facing it, he better lives the experience with his eyes closed, with sensations that lead to another dimension instead of living in the present.”
“LSI studies any matter that occupies him in great depth. He stubbornly and persistently collects information to attain a thorough understanding of the subject. He favorably views well-organized and smoothly functioning systems. Anything that does not fit into the system he rejects as nonsensical.“ -  - “There is an unconscious voracity of experiences and knowledge, but it lacks the internal drive to overcome inertia and start the search.” “He [e9] doesn't know how to search because he doesn't believe in his intuition or in his desire, he is afraid of making mistakes and, therefore, getting lost. He remains frustrated and subconsciously hungry. That is why he looks for the „extraordinary“ that upsets everything, it frightens him and excites him to imagine something extraordinary, -”
These are just a bunch of sentences I find to contradict each other very directly, granted there are pieces of text, both longer and shorter or of more or less significance, that go against each other, just as there are a few that do seemingly match up. Though I do believe the parts that contradict each other this blatantly are far more prominent than those that don't, or even match. I will reiterate that this isn't a contradiction I care too much about, especially in the context of mbti and enneagram alone, but the question I was answering asked for my opinion, which is that I'm very sceptical of it due to the fact that it"s very odd with, as I hoped to clear up here, socionics and Jungian.
Hi, I was just wondering, my sister is an ISTP and an e9, does this contradict? I'd like to hear your opinion on this and other alternatives if they do contradict. ty!
Unfortunately I do think it does.. ISTP and specifically sp9 are kind of seen as a grey area though, and I wouldn't bat an eye if I saw someone type as it. But in general e9 - aside from possibly so9, which isn't compatible with ISTP regardless - is irrational. When using mbti on its own, this isn't a big deal, however when you start getting into systems such as Jungian and socionics it gets more complicated. I've mentioned Myers-Briggs’ confusion when it came to perceiving/judgement before, and it really comes back here as well.  In general I would say that it really depends on how you go about typology. This is not a criminal contradiction, and if you're not planning on going much deeper than mbti and enneagram, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you are, however, I'd recommend looking into sp5 especially, or alternatively sx6 or ISTJ.

obvious differences between EII and IEI? i'm sure i'm 4w5 469 ELVF (so/sp > so/sx but i'm not sure about that)
I meant to reply to this much earlier, I am so so sorry! The best way to understand which out of these types makes the most sense in this case, I reckon, would be through the rationality and irrationality dichotomy. EII (INFj, Fi base) being a rational type and IEI (INFp, Ni base) irrational. I must admit that I can't explain this dichotomy as well and concisely as I wish I could, so instead I’d recommend reading pages 43-44 and 50-51 of Carl Jungs ‘Psychological Types’ which describe rationality and irrationality within introversion specifically.

ok so i was the one who asked abt the how can u be infj but also nifi, so you're typing yourself using the original jungian method when you say that and not the myers briggs. what i'm getting is that according to jung, it's not necessary for the second function to be extraverted or introverted, so an niti is intj, as well as nite? or tini and tine? I wanna know if i got it correct!
Yes, pretty much, I’m not a huge fan of Myers-Briggs’ theory, so I tend to use Jungian in general while still referring to myself as an INFJ because honestly it's just more convenient. She got a bunch of the theory wrong, such as the judgement/perceiving or rational/irrational dichotomy, but I'll get back to that later. Loops, or the idea that NiFi would be INTJ isn't something Myers-Briggs ever mentioned either, this is an idea that was created on tumblr itself as far as I'm aware, same as grips. Jung didn't really value the introversion or extroversion of the secondary function, as a person's cognition is either gonna have a preference for introversion or extroversion regardless. To Jung's theory, the dichotomy between secondary feeling/thinking and sensation/intuition depending on the dominant function is much more important than that between its extroversion or introversion.  So getting back to the weird thing with the irrational/rational dichotomy in mbti. Myers-Briggs decided this based on the first extroverted function, which is weird, because that makes types with an irrational (perceiving) function, such as Ni, rational and vice versa. If you've ever looked into socionics, this might sound familiar to you, as the socionics types, written in mbti format, don't use the Myers-Briggs switcheroo, and stay true to Jung's theory in that sense. So if you want to get technical, TiNe and TiNi are INTJ, but considering more people study mbti than Jungian or socionics, it's often far more convenient to just stick with INTP for TiNx and INTJ for NiTx.

hello!!!
soooo i just recently got into mbti and i had a lot of fun learning about it!! but that also led to me finding there’s other types of typology and i have no clue where to start 😭
can you give me a good place to start?? (i’m isfj btw)
I definitely recommend you to read ‘Gifts Differing’ by Isabel Briggs Myers. I have a lot of negative opinions about mbti as a system, but in the end most people start with it, and Gifts Differing being the *official* book for it while being relatively simple, I definitely would recommend starting from there. Then I'd recommend scratching the surface of another system before moving deeper into mbti by learning a bit about enneagram. I strongly recommend starting off with ‘The Complete Enneagram’ by Beatrice Chestnut here. Similarly coherent as Gifts Differing, but far more factually correct.
There’s a lot more early and far less coherent, but incredibly influential work if you want to read more past this, but I recommend getting a decent grasp on these two systems before delving further into the depths on those and other systems. For that I would say these two books are gonna be a big help to you. I've linked both books mentioned, but I also have a linktree in my pinned post with most of my main sources in case you ever want to go through those! If you have any other questions, don’t be scared to send me a message or ask me through here again :3
