You can not tell me that Uncle Iroh would not help immensely in Crosshair's healing journey.
I mean, this man sat a guy who was trying to mug him down for tea and made him rethink his life choices.
Plus, he helped Zuko, and he was a real piece of work when he started out.
So, if anyone could help Crosshair, it's this guy.

Do you guys ever think about how azula spent 3 YEARS alone with ozai?
Like after zukos banishment Im pretty sure everyone left, tylee and Mai left, zuko and iroh left and her mom was gone. So she was basically alone and only surrounded by people who are loyal to her father.
Like idk I just always wonder what happend during that time. Was she trained day and night? And that's why she's so good? Did she spend all her time just training and learning from her father?
Like idk???? I just think it really interesting and it's not really talked about much in the show or comics. Cause she would be spending sooo much time with her only source of wisdom being her father.
Also I think it's an interesting contrast like zukos main source of wisdom during his 3 years was iroh while azulas was ozai.

To be honest, I actually really enjoyed the live action Avatar series and I’m excited for the upcoming seasons. However, something that I think really needs to be improved on is showing rather than telling. The live action series does a lot of telling us what to think and feel and what’s going on whereas the original does a masterful job of giving us information through visual clues and interactions. I have two examples of when the live action series shows and when it tells and how much it affects the show.
An example of when it doesn’t work is when Aang monologues to Appa about why he wants to run away. He says to Appa that he’s just a goofy kid that likes to play with his friends and that he doesn’t want the responsibility of being the avatar. In the original show we know all this in the first 5 seconds of meeting Aang. He wakes up from the ice and the first thing out of his mouth is “do you want to go penguin sledding with me?” He dodges Katara and Sokka’s questions about the avatar, instead focusing on his airbending and getting to know Katara and Sokka. In this one interaction we know a ton about Aang and how he sees and interacts with the world and get hints about his internal conflict. In the live action this is told rather than shown and we lose that sense of playfulness in Aang and have missed the opportunity for Katara and Aang to bond beyond bending.
Where the live actions shows rather than tells is in (in my opinion) the strongest part of the live action series: Zuko and Iroh. I love the addition of flashbacks that show their relationship. We see their bond rather than being told how they feel about one another. We also get hints to the original series with “Leaves from the Vine” playing behind the scene at Lu Ten’s funeral. This clues the audience into not only the grief that Iroh feels for his son, but connects to the idea of Iroh seeing Zuko as a son. When we hear the music again on the boat, it lets us know that Iroh feels grief over not being able to save Zuko from Ozai’s wrath and the sense of responsibility Iroh has for Zuko as a parental figure. The funeral scene also shows us who Zuko is, a side of Zuko that we haven’t seen yet while also showing us how the culture of Ozai’s fire nation and Ozai himself manipulates and influences Zuko. When Zuko first speaks to Iroh at the funeral he gives the rote response that Ozai had just given a moment before, one that says that Lu Ten died with honor in battle and gave a glorious sacrifice to the fire nation. It’s not about the loss of Lu Ten, it’s about the fire nation. Zuko gives the expected response, but then he comes back. He talks about Lu Ten, he tells Iroh how much he looked up to his cousin, how much his cousin meant to him. He gives him Lu Ten’s medal, something of importance that brought Zuko strength. He mourns with Iroh. And he stays. He doesn’t walk away. He sits next to his uncle in silence, no more words necessary, just being there is enough. So when Iroh walks onto that boat and sees a broken and banished Zuko, one filled with grief and rage and pain, a Zuko that snaps easily and is quick to anger and fearful of affection, a Zuko that has been trained to believe love is conditional; when Iroh sees that Zuko, he stays. He loves him unconditionally. Because that’s what they do. And suddenly we understand the two halves of Zuko a little better. Zuko who gives the rote response his father trained him to say and Zuko who can’t help but go back and do the right thing. And we understand Iroh better too. Iroh who played his part in the dark history of the fire nation and Iroh who has learned what it costs and refuses to make people keep paying. And we are never told any of it. And that’s why it works. And that’s why I hope the show continues to do more of this in the following seasons, because when it works it really freaking works.

azula headcanon
azula's mental health issues last her whole life. I think she continues to struggle with derealization, hallucinations, and paranoia for the rest of her life. I hc that whenever it gets really bad she has to temporarily live with someone (zuko, mai, maybe even iroh) or go into psychiatric care. It bothers her but her family is always so caring and compassionate whenever it gets bad.

Tumblr media
The fire nation love their royal family as they had ruled the nations with pride and strength, making the fire nation proud and strong over the many years. From fire lord azulon to his sons and his grandchildren, everyone in the royal family had the respect of the nation. There had been someone in the royal family that seem to burn by her own candle flame, the youngest grandchild of fire lord and youngest daughter or ozai and ursa. The princess that seem to be called by her people and other the kindhearted princess.

y/n " thank you uncle and brother I will make sure to make you both, proud and I will make sure I do well when I'm here" you had hugged your brother and uncle, right before they left the nation on their journey to find the avatar. It will be a very long time until you saw your brother and uncle once again.
many years later
y/n " ......" you are feeding the turtle ducks you had gotten sick of being stuck inside all day, the ducks seem to be having a good time with you until someone came behind you soon scaring the ducks away.

ozai " my daughter I have called you here so we can speak"
y/n " yes father"
ozai " now that your brother and sister are gone, thing around here will be changing"
y/n " I understand father"
ozai " good as your duty if being princess of the fire nation, you have a image to uphold and duties as well ... I know you will do them well being their for the family and nation, but you need to know that your ability of kindness could be seen a weakness you can't always let your kindness rule over you when you are in changer of stuff my daughter"
y/n " I know father but this how I'm"
ozai " I know I know my child but I need you to know, that you can't always be kind when it come to our people or anyone else"
y/n " yes father but I will always make sure our family and people are good, even if they are fire nation or not"
ozai " that what I love to hear my daughter now you are free to go, as I have a meeting with the generals and sages"
y/n " yes father take care"
ozai " you as well my daughter" you soon bowed to your father as you soon left the throne room, as the meeting was getting ready to start. You are walking down the hall way of the palace looking at the portraits, of the royal family member past and present. You had thought about everyone words, and you were going to stick to being yourself as that is something you love dearly no matter what everyone else had to say about it.

ATLA live action series
i started it last night and... well, i like it.
the new series is about as controversial a topic as it can be right now and while i understand both sides, i do really like it. i think there are some things that they added that i appreciate. for example, when the fire nation destroyed the air temple. that was a scene i really appreciated.
but sokka's not as funny. nor is he sexist. and that's his character arc in the original.
it's still better than the 2010 movie tho.
keep in mind, i have also only watched the first 2 episodes, so my knowledge is limited to that and what i've seen on tumblr and youtube.
also, the casting is perfect. i love it. everyone IS their characters, its insane.
also, i have seen no comments on how uncle iroh is full on uncle irohing. like just from the first two episodes alone i already know they got him right.
remember you need tact, somthing else i can't remember, and..... sticky rice!
then he walks away.
like.
and zuko just stands there for a minute confused before following and saying "uncle, we don't have time for this!" off camera is just the most zuko thing ever.
like in the original, the two things he said pretty much every episode were "honor" and "uncle we don't have time for this"
tada, so that's my opinon.
it wasn't as good as it could have been, but i like it. better than the movie, not as good as the original series. i kinda watched it and pretended it was something completely new that i had never watched any version of before.
if you have anything to add, feel free to comment, but just please be polite. i understand if you feel strongly about how they did this but i also want you to keep in mind that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and just because yours is different, doesn't mean others are wrong.
thank you
*sarcastic katniss bow*

I really hate how ursa is done in the comics idk
Like I'm done with the arranged marriage and her and ikem but I hate the other stuff.
1. Her and azula
I kinda wish they made her and azulas relationship more complex and nuanced instead of it being that ursa loved her all along and never favored zuko
Because I just think that's a little lazy. I feel like if ursa had favored zuko it would've made sense like if we keep the ikem part of all of it then I think it would be interesting that ursa favored zuko because he reminded her of her past and ikem. Also that with zuko she could at least pretend he wasn't ozais.
But with azula she couldn't pretend at all. And then coupled that with the fact that azula had a spark in her eyes that zuko didn't and she saw how ozai reacted to that and how he treated zuko that she would feel like she would need to protect him even more. I think it would be an interesting thing if zuko reminded her of her old life while azula reminded her of her present life.
And that would cause a rift between them. And then we would have azula acting out for her mothers attention and acting more and more similar to ozai which would just further increase the rift. Because ursa would struggle to separate her daughter from her abuser like she can with zuko. Especially since azula would also spend most of her time learning from ozai and listening to him.
Im also not saying she would a horrible mother either. Because I think even with this scenario that she is still nuanced because she got forced into a situation she would have never chosen and is just trying to get through it day by day. I think it would be that like ursa, azula was just a casualty of azulon and especially of ozai. Because had ozai not been there I think she would have been a much better mother.
Like idk I just feel like with how the comics wrote ursa and ozais relationship this would make even more sense than her being just a slightly flawed mother but she was trying her best. Idk I'm not very articulate.
2. The forgetting thing
It sucks. I hate it so much actually. It's just so bad, like I feel like the writer couldn't think of anyway to make it make sense that ursa would never go back to her kids but tbh I can think of some ways.
Like ursa is definitely terrified of ozai and he knows where she went and she would still go back to her hometown.
So maybe ozai knows this and every now and then he sends soldiers around there to just do a bit of patrol maybe even have them raid her parents house as a way of telling ursa that if she does something her parents and ikem are gonna be the price. Which I think would work.
Also I think with azula and zuko that she just kept telling herself that zuko had Iroh and that azula was ozais favorite. She probably just repeated those constantly like how zuko does with azula always lies. And soon after like a year she believed it.
Also I think she wouldn't get any information on them because ozai would make it harder and like we see in canon not that many know of or recognize azula and zuko. Like in the beach episode kids who seem to have noble parents don't even know about them so I think it would make a lot of sense that the royal family is way way way more private esp during ozais reign. Because yk ozai killed his father, stole his brothers birthright, and In ozais opinion had a failure of a first born. And maybe ursa was also too terrified of what shed find out or just to leave hir'a/her hometown.
Also part of me thinks it was lazy writing so that they wouldn't have to have ursa have difficult conversations about why she never went looking for them or just a conversation with azula because we never actually get a real ursa and azula convo.
3. Kiyi
I hate her. Like she just feels like such a a replacement and lazy writing. Like they wanted zuko to have a healthy brother sister dynamic with someone and they didn't know how, didn't think of, or just didn't want to write that with pre established characters, they decided to make a character that was everything azula wasn't and was the perfect little sister and daughter.
Like I think she could be fun but I also think she was just so that zuko could have that dynamic without having to put in the work of writing azula a semi redemption arc or smth.
But also I think maybe they could've given zuko that brother sister dynamic with katara or toph. Like we see zuko jealous of sokka and katara and maybe we get stuff we're zuko and katara will act like sibling or like the relationship he always wanted with azula but then gets reminded that he can't have that.
Also It feels like a way to also give ursa the perfect daughter but I do think rewritten she could work. I think she's a fun concept.
End
Tbh I just wanted to rant because I feel like so much was done that was just kinda boring and lazy.

I want to clear up a mistake people make with Azula and Ursa.
Ursa didn’t play favorites.
Ursa didn’t think Azula was a monster.
Ursa simply, unequivocally, just didn’t enable Azula’s worst traits like Ozai did.
Ozai’s favorite child was Azula, but Ursa still loved her more.
Because enabling isn’t love.
What did Ozai’s enabling do? It made Azula into the type of person to never have any loyal friends. It made the type of person that Mai and Tai Lee would betray at the risk of their own lives.
Ursa pushed Azula to be with her friends. To be with Zuko. Ozai pushed Ursa away, and both kids suffered for it. Azula became a sadist, enjoying seeing her brother get burned—while Zuko was pushed away because he cared for his people.
Azula thought her mom hated her because her mom was the only one who cared enough to tell her no.

best thing about uncle iroh is that if you pay attention he is actually just as much of an idiot as zuko but has just mastered the art of coming across as a wise old man. the even better thing is that zuko is the only one on the planet who somewhat realizes this and no one would ever believe him because he's zuko
