"The Wasp Factory" is a real pain: bullying, murder, humiliation, fanaticism, perversion. And all within the same family. But on the last pages, the author strokes the exhausted reader on the head and asks: "Well, how are you feeling? Is it pretty to be like that? Don't be a hell's bells thing, live without rage and vengeance". And I love it. I love this story.
I found it interesting that there are a couple of Planned Parenthoods in my neighborhood, one of which has protestors there. This one is slightly further away from the one in my neighborhood but is still easily reached by bus route, and the other one is across from an express clinic in a strip mall. Guess which one never has protestors? The one on the Black side of town! This PP is right smack dab in the middle of the hood with very few white people living nearby unless they work at the nearby hospital. (There are also a couple of colleges down the street.)
The one that has protestors in front of it, all of whom are white, is the one least likely to have Black people, not just on the staff, but as patients. They also yell at cars that are just driving by, but I guess that's normal for them.
I don't know if either of these PPs has abortion services but I do know that none of these angry white people are brave enough to stand in the middle of the ghetto and holler at Black patients at the strip mall where it's located. Do they not care about Black babies being aborted, or are they just too scared to pick fights with random black women?
nightwing being hurt in the field, and over comms he can’t get out what was wrong, nearly in shock, and jason puts on his best batman™️ voice and says “robin, report.”
and it snaps dick out of it enough to say concussion, possible broken ribs, and a gash in his side.
no one talks about it, and then a year later, damian does the same thing to tim
