I literally have no idea why analog horror fandoms and even the creators of them themselves are always some of the most… I have the moral high ground people I’ve ever seen???
You are creating some seriously fucked up shit but for some reason you draw such a hard line when it’s not that, just gore and violence and death. Of course if you don’t want to see certain things that is totally fair, you do you, I do me, we chill otherwise. But man, usually it’s just: respect my boundaries (good!) but also fuck you and everything you are I hope you die (?????why?)
I guess it just bothers me because I love certain analog horror but either the creator or co-creator will be so aggressive about it. It’s fine if you don’t like it and don’t wanna see it, but don’t act like it needs to cease to exist this very second.
The fandoms are usually worse, but man it just sucks the joy out of fandoms I enjoyed a lot once. It sucks.

Hi. Im really curious about your opinion on branded pairs in Thai BL marketing, especially about Firstkhaotung. I happen to like both actors very much (since Moonlight Chicken) and then from the Eclipse and Only friends. It would be great to see them as a couple in an upcoming show but acting career wise it could limit their range or project choices if this branded pairs marketing strategy dictates certain limits. My somewhat negative feelings about it came from moonlight chicken which was the second Thai series that I watched and Earthmix seem to be such a strong branded pair that I found the watching experience strange and then the shoehorning of 2 Alan Gaipa scenes in the end. How do you see it? And which one is your favourite branded pair (if there is any)?
Hi! So sorry it’s taken me a bit to answer this - it’s been a crazy few days.
I also think there are both strengths and weaknesses to having branded pairings, and I think OF happened to be a really good example of that. I’ve seen quite a few disgruntled reactions to the branded pairings ending up together in the end…I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the one couple who didn’t end up together was the one that wasn’t pre-established.
In the case of Moonlight Chicken, I think it can apply similarly, though maybe not as obviously. I like the AlanGaipa scenes but I do agree that if it hadn’t been FirstKhao coming off of The Eclipse, would they have had those scenes in the end? My gut says no.
I’m kind of torn overall tbh, because I think branded pairings work for a reason. There have been so many standouts that have been hugely successful because of it - EarthMix, FirstKhao, and OffGun to name a few. The problem comes when those branded pairings interfere with plot and limit the creativity in these stories. The majority of audiences want to see their faves together, but that stunts creativity in some aspects if the plot could be better served by a different endgame (or no endgame altogether, in the case of TopMew in OF).
Anyways, I think it’s a slippery slope for gmmtv and bl in general to pursue branded pairings because it’s a huge money draw and appeals to fans, but it’s a balance of creativity and storytelling and appealing to the chemistry that viewers love so much. For me personally, FirstKhao has always been my favorite pairing since The Eclipse for a lot of reasons, but one that stands out is that their acting is so strong individually as well as together. I’ve noticed in BL especially, branded pairings have a tendency to lean into each other so much in their acting that it’s difficult to tell if they could actually hold their own on screen. FK have done that, and sprinkling in their chemistry when together just takes everything to a whole new level.

This might be unpopular but hear me out..
Often we think of our goal surrounding culturally significant items to be preservation (keep them in a museum in the perfect environment for preservation, touch them as little as possible, sometimes going even as far as to not expose them to light..) with the idea that it is for “future generations”. It is well known, however, that the Titanic is slowly disintegrating, its shelf life is limited regardless of if we leave it alone, study it or tour it (I want to put it out there that I don’t support touring the wreck but that's beside the point).
I say this because I’ve seen some people mention how upsetting it is that the wreckage was possibly disturbed/damaged by this Oceangate incident but I don’t think you should be. In many ways, any inflicted damage adds to the story and life of the ship (regardless of the cause or people’s opinions on whether it is justified). I understand the moral arguments about it being a gravesite and I agree that it should be left alone, but seeing as this incident has already happened, I think it brings up an interesting conversation about how we treat cultural items as needing to be preserved indefinitely when any damage (especially with a story that is so sensational) ultimately adds to the history of the thing in question.

Ingrid is a gay ass homosexual
Okay so, let’s talk about it.
Ingrid is probably a closested queer woman. Do I know exactly what she is? No lol. But, what I do know is she definitely isn’t straight.
Let’s look at her background to begin with.
After Glenn died being a silly knight, Ingrid’s entire life was dictated by marrying a man. Her family would die out if she didn’t marry a man. Her crest mandated she married a man. Her people would suffer unless she married a man. Her father literally gave her extra food to fatten her up compared to her siblings, all so she could marry a man.
You see the issue?
Now let’s pivot to Mercedes. I could bring up the Dorothea paralogue but everyone knows about that one, so that’s for latter.
Tumblr media
Mercedes, the bisexual member of the lions, says she wants to know a lot more about Ingrid. And Ingrid doesn’t turn her down. Ingrid also doesn’t necessarily turn down Dorothea in their paralogue. Read the script for instance.
Tumblr media
Does that look like an outright refusal of Dorothea? I don’t think so. Then we get to their actual supports. Let’s look at the Dorothea-Ingrid B support.
Tumblr media
Yikes. (Shout out to Dorothea for respecting consent however)
But look how fervently she shuts Dorothea down. How just immediate it is. Beforehand, Dorothea was kinda pestering her about beauty stuff.
It’s like other B supports pre timeskip.
A lot of B supports set up a conflict to be resolved post timeskip. There’s roots for a paired ending there. The one that comes to mind the most is Annie/Mercie (mostly cause their support chain is silly, just like the two units)
I say all this to say that she has two b supports that feel they could lead into a same sex paired ending. Also, can we talk about Pegasi knights for a moment?
There are a lot of gay Pegasi knights. Palla and Minerva are one of the most shipped pairs in Archanea. Chloe and Merrin as well for Elyos. Eda is said to have been “totally subservient” to Altena. Florina outright admits she loves Lyn at the end of Lyn Mode.
Ingrid is a Pegasus knight.
What does that make her? Probably gay lol. Like, she is in one of the most consistently gay classes. She has two supports that could be read as romantic. What more can I say?
TL;DR: Ingrid is probably a homosexual.

Random prompt idea. Desmond/Kadar soulmate au, where Kadar is instantly gone on Desmond, and Desmond and Malik both think it's because of Kadar's admiration of Altair and Desmond looks suspiciously like him. So Kadar has to defend his feelings from his brother and prove to Desmond that's his feelings for him aren't based around Altair. (And Altair has to watch this mess going on around him as he's trying to live his life. And Malik tries to blame him for this for some reason.)
So, for this Soulmate AU, I was trying to think on why Desmond would assume Kadar likes him because of his admiration for Altaïr and I thought… what if, in this soulmate AU, people only know they’re soulmates after they fall in love? Like a mark/name would appear on their body after they realize that they love their soulmate. It’s not the most optimal way to have soulmates, that’s for damn sure, but maybe it was an ongoing genetic modification project of the Isu Inanna that got pushed aside because of the war then the solar flare.
In this case, the mark is a confirmation that ‘yes, you found them’ rather than a ping of ‘yeah, you’re meant to fall in love with that one’.
And not everyone has a soulmate.
In this scenario, regardless if it’s set in a ‘verse where Desmond time-traveled or a full-blown Modern AU, we’ll get the following:
Kadar has a crush on Altaïr and he doesn’t really understand why until he met Desmond. That’s when he realized that the parts that made him like Altaïr (his skills, the kindness he tries to hide, his dry humor) are the parts he shared or are heavily similar to Desmond’s own.
Kadar believes that having a crush on Altaïr had been his ‘soulmark’ trying to give him a clue.
Malik would think that Kadar is trying to find a reason to why he’s suddenly crushing hard on Desmond after carrying a torch for Altaïr for so long. Malik would think that Kadar just transferred his crush to Desmond because Desmond is a better choice (as far as Malik is concerned) and Kadar is trying to find an excuse so he doesn’t feel like a dick for throwing his feelings for Altaïr out (which he shouldn’t since Altaïr never reciprocated it anyway)
Altaïr tries his very best to ignore Kadar’s obvious infatuation with Desmond but it becomes hard when Kadar flat out tells Desmond that he’s falling in love with him and Desmond runs to Altaïr to tell him everything. Altaïr has no idea why Desmond is telling him all of this. At this point in their life, Desmond would have a better chance of getting support from that damn female Templar he insists on befriending than him.
Of course, Kadar tells Malik everything and Malik has to suffer through listening to his brother recount the entire thing and getting a migraine just trying to help his brother court Desmond which, really, is just Malik telling Kadar to slow down and to edit his most outlandish plans to a more… nicer (won't get you arrested) ones.
Of course, this ends up with Malik needing to vent with someone about all of these and Altaïr is the perfect target. He looks a lot like Desmond and Kadar’s more than worrying plans spawned from the fact that Kadar’s subtle flirting with Altaïr had no effect so he believes being clear about his intentions means being obnoxious in his gestures of affection would win Desmond over.
Altaïr does not approve of this and he tells Malik that Kadar never flirted with him which, in turn, made Malik realize that Altaïr was absolutely oblivious to Kadar’s infatuation the entire time. This only served to make Malik mock his observation skills.
Altaïr doesn’t even get a respite because running away from Malik only meant he had to deal with Desmond having complicated feelings over Kadar’s courtship and Altaïr. Is. Just. So. Done.
Desmond, on the other hand, does think Kadar is cute and he does like him but Kadar has his work cut out for him because Desmond is comparing himself to Altaïr who, in his eyes, will always be better than him so, for Desmond, he believes Kadar is simply settling for him.
But Kadar is nothing but stubborn and persistent.
Malik and Altaïr would have to suffer through it all.
While Maria just watches from the sideline, sipping tea while listening to Desmond, and wondering “These people are the ones giving us such a hard time???”

pochita/chainsaw devil and my personal thought about how fujimoto kinda subvert the cutesification of violence trope in animanga
thinking about pochita and his true devil form again and even if fujimoto did not intentionally wanna subvert the whole "beautiful girls with terrifying power" thing, he ended up doing just that with pochita as chainsaw devil... from my personal view, at least
from what i've seen, currently there's this... trend of cute girls possessing terrifying power in animanga, and how those girls actually possess these terrifying forms that shows how inhuman they are, but because the story shows that they're still those cute girls within so it's a lot easier for their powers and actions to be digested without caring too much about the consequences of their actions
a 100 year old vampire who look like a cute loli is still a cute loli even if she did killed a lot of people before... you know?
but then we got pochita in chainsaw man.
i still remember that one fanart of pochita as this little girl, and to me that's proof of the trend, that it's easier for audience to digest terrible act of violence in media these days if there's a sympathetic character that commits it, in this case, a cute little creature like pochita, or... what people want to believe is pochita, a cute loli girl.
well, surprisingly, fujimoto didn't actually went onto that route (he did it with power already) with pochita but rather, he revealed that pochita's true form is just as terrifying as his name is to every single demons that existed on hell and on earth. and his true form also makes his whole reason to be close to denji, to the point of sacrificing himself, even stronger. because ofc no one can and want to hold a humongous demon who will cut everything that's within its grasp. a demon with chainsaws as its limbs, even when chainsaw devil wants to help it'll still leave a trail of blood and corpses behind.
and after the reveal of pochita's true form, it really contextualized everything that happen between pochita, denji and makima. makima, the one that only sees chainsaw devil for what it can be, just a tool. and denji, the brash little kid who sees pochita for who he is, a friend. so in some ways, pochita's true form not being a cute girl but rather a nightmare-inducing creature did subvert the trend of moe in animanga, which also makes chainsaw man as a shonen manga, refreshing in its own ways. also it makes much more sense for a nightmare-induced creature who had fucking... chainsaws for limbs to be deprived of love rather than an attractive young girl who seem pretty normal on the outside you know?
but this is not me saying i hate the cute-sify violence trope thing, i think it works in certain genre and as long as the character and story is interesting i'll enjoy it.
but i think in chainsaw man's case, it's refreshing to see a manga that did something pretty unorthodox at the time.
