Yes it's really strange hearing from Tommy calling him Evan all the time
I feel odd
I’ve always gotten the impression that calling Evan Buckley “Evan,”instead of his preferred nickname of “Buck,” was a privilege reserved for his sister, Maddie—because she had called him that since childhood…
When Phillip & Margaret Buckley, his parents, arrived on the show, they were not worthy of calling him Evan. He practically told them as much when he corrected and made it clear that he preferred they call him Buck.
To me—Eddie calling him Evan was a sort of term of endearment—not too dissimilar from, “babe” or even, “my love;” a way to refer to Buck, during conversations of an intimate nature such as when Eddie wanted to make official Buck’s importance in his & Christopher’s lives.
Yes—the guardianship talk.
So when Tommy, right out of the gate, started calling Buck, Evan—I admit: I was offended taken aback because there was something way OFF about it.
It’s like—spoken by anyone other Maddie or Eddie—comes across as trivial, like passing a basketball or tossing a frisbee or something else, just as meaningless, you know?
I just…I wondered if anyone else was as annoyed by this.
(or, if i had a nickel for every time disaster gays told each other nothing would change when everything did, i'd have two nickels.)
[ID: two color gifs from 911 7.05 and two black and white gifs from Red, White and Royal Blue, alternating.
GIF 1: Eddie leaning towards Buck, his expression open and earnest as he reassures him, "This doesn't change a thing between us, okay?"
GIF 2: Henry holding Alex against the back of the cough as they kiss, his hands moving to Alex's buttons as he says, "To be clear, this changes nothing between us."
GIF 3: Buck watching Eddie expectantly, his expression looking lost as he nods, looking down as he says, "Good, that's a relief." His tone is flat, as if he was waiting for something else.
GIF 4: Henry continuing to unbutton Alex's shirt as their noses bump together. Alex holds on to Henry's waist as he says, "I was about to say the same thing." Henry laughs as his hands move to Alex's chest, saying, "No you weren't."
WHY I THINK TOMMY KNOWS THERE'S SOMETHING GOING ON BETWEEN BUCK AND EDDIE:
1) He knows he can't replace Evan or be someone Top priorty in his life because Chris would definetly say something about not see anymore Buck or see him for a short time
2) His smile fade away when he hears Buck talking too much about how great Eddie is
3) The camera shows that someone is looking at Eddie while he was staring at Buck. Not Buck looking at Eddie for how Eddie shot is. And after the camera got to Tommy looking from Eddie to Buck where Tommy felt something was going on between the two of them but he can't see Buck face being jealous of Marisol living with Eddie. But he sees how Eddie was looking at Buck in that moment
So i think at the wedding if something really happen between Buck and Eddie while they're oblivious about their feelings for each other, Tommy probably steps back and he probably would say soemething to Buck about his feelings for Eddie being more than platonic
"you know, my therapist says everyone needs a safe space, a place where you can fully be yourself"
