You wrapped your arms around yourself as you carefully walked through the gardens of the palace, doing your best to not trip and kill yourself while your dress flowed behind you. ‘’are you crazy?? At this hour I hope this is imp-‘’

‘’shh darling,’’ he chuckled with a finger to your lips and you gave him a look at being silenced. ‘’I indeed have a proposition- no, a mild demand I wish from you’’ he explained, his voice low as if someone could hear him although you were a good distance away from the palace- enough where you might has well have taken a horse.

Giving a glance around as if you wanted to figure why the gardens had something to do with this request and not in your own quarters where you could have conversed, your eyes changed to mild concern as you kept your voice just as low as is ‘’of course.. what is it?’’

Mischief danced in his eyes and you should have known as you sighed, his hand gently taking yours and pulling you more into the gardens from possible prying eyes before his hands rested on your hips. A gentle smile stayed on his lips and contentment on his features as he relished your presence with him and his grip on your frame told you he wouldn’t let you step away.

The lack of response could have been annoying if he hadn’t pressed his lips to the crook of your neck and collarbone, earning a gasp to leave your lips as your hands moved to his forearms as if to push him away. ‘’Loki- what is your request?’’ you asked, your voice cracked as shyness crept over your features as you glanced behind you, only to feel him smile against your skin.

‘’I want to see you wearing nothing but moonlight." He murmured against your skin as he kissed up your neck and you look back to try to look at his face to see if he was serious but his close proximity made it difficult.

‘’L-Loki- you know you have your chambers or mine.. w-we can’t do that here, we could get caught!”’ you stammered and felt him chuckle as his hands began to glide slowly up your sides.

‘’and yet that never stopped you when you allowed me to take you in the library, the dining hall, the-‘’

‘’this is outside’’ you hiss and grip his shoulders as he walked forward, a leg between yours as you take steps back until your back found the tree he was guiding you towards and trapped you there.

‘’I see no difference darling, we could have been caught any given time. take away walls, there’s still no difference. If anything, this would be easier because everyone should be asleep’’ he smirked and his finger tips ghosted against your back, lightly brushing against you skin as he slowly loosened your dress strings.

He wasn’t surprised when you won the fight, though in the future he would give you some pointers. Maybe he could even teach you how to wield a larger hammer overtime.

Thor watched as your opponent died from injuries to the skull. A quick yet gruesome death all the same. Don’t let his poker face deceive you, he is very proud. You can feel it practically seeping into the room from his aura alone.

Poseidon

As always he seems unperturbed while you revealed your chosen weapon for the Ragnarok fight was a Trident. Of course, he knows he is still the best when wielding a trident. He’s the embodiment of perfection, after all.

Most if not all the fight he is expressionless. He knows you will win. As his s/o you have to win. There is no other choice, he's positive of it. He’s actually nervous don’t let him fool you.

Reminds himself to train you. You could definitely strike out faster with your trident. You can be better. He has high expectations for you.

Walks off when the fight ends with you spearing your opponent through the stomach.

You know to meet him at the beach anyways. Practice will be waiting for you. He’s not letting up until you can cut him or your legs give out. There’s no if and or buts. He’ll make up for it later.

Loki

Grins like an idiot when he sees your weapon is hook chains. This fight just got much more interesting. He even sits up a bit more.

His sadistic obsession comes to the surface when watching you fight. Of course, you and your opponent are leveled out in terms of strength and other things though he finds that all the more interesting.

Your opponent falls due to blood loss and the loss of limbs. Makes his way down to meet up with you in the infirmary after the fight is over. It was exciting to see you get cut up in the fight as well.

Hades

Feels a sense of respect and pride when you choose a Bident as your chosen weapon for the ragnarok match. Similar to Poseidon he also feels his weapon is the superior choice. He’s glad you chose a bident.

He watches you fight with a calm and serious exterior, no one can really tell what he was thinking.

The match was on its toes but he was more than prideful over his darling claiming the victory in the match. As you were hauled off to get your wounds tended to, he stood up to meet you there.

Praise, that's what he grants you with. He's prideful, but also loving towards you in a sweet admiration. Hades would have been heartbroken had you died in that fight.

He would like to spar with you to offer tips. After all, practice is perfection. And the both of you will strive for it together.

Adam

Is immediately interested the moment you picked a whip for your weapon in ragnarok. Though he cannot say much, after all he picked knuckle dusters as his against Zeus.

He cannot say he isn't a bit worried, because he totally is. He doesn't want to loose a loved one in this fight, though he also wouldn't mind giving up his life during this fight either. Now it was your turn.

During the match Adam was rather impressed at your display of strength and flexibility against your opponent. When you won a smile spread across his face, calm and soft. Brunhilde and Göll where cheering and hugging and he stood up to go find you.

Immediately hounds you in affection when he sees you. Soft words of praise, soft kisses and gentle hugs. Adam vows to get everything you need the next few days as you recover from your injuries.

He asks you to teach him how to use a whip too. After all, you looked excellent during it.

-Their eyes were glued to the screen, smiles on their faces as they all had managed to get a chance to watch your newest movie that was just released on streaming.

-Popcorn and other snacks were prepared, blankets and pillows brought out, and smiles all around as your giant adopted family piled into the living room to watch together.

-The only person missing was you, as you were traveling to promote your new movie, but you were due back in about a week, something they were planning on surprising you with a welcome home party with all your favorite foods.

-Brunnhilde dimmed the lights, creating a theatre like experience before sitting next to Buddha, who had Zerofuku in his lap, the younger looking god holding their bowl of popcorn.

-The movie, an action spy movie, started off slow, building up the story as the main character, Agent 777, was gathering intel for a mission, and received orders to meet up with another agent who specialized with espionage and combat.

-When Agent 777 looked trapped by the bad guys, being held at gunpoint, someone threw in a smoke grenade and Loki threw up his hands in a cheer when they saw a pair of legs in tight jeans with combat boots over the top as you entered and cleaned house.

-Watching you in action was so much fun, seeing you fight, ride motorcycles, in a helicopter, and punching the main baddy in the face with a pair of brass knuckles, as he had killed ‘your father’ before blowing up a factory with Agent 777 with fireworks.

-Agent 777 looked at you, “Why are there fireworks?” you just beamed brightly, hands on your hips as you looked so proud of yourself, “I wanted it to be pretty!” laughter filled your home as the movie came to a close, with you and Agent 777 both at a gala ball, with you asking Agent 777 if he was ready to start the next part of the infiltration mission.

-Adam- Adored watching you, he loves watching your movies, feeling so proud of your accomplishments. He was happy you weren’t in a more revealing or sexy outfit like he had seen other actresses in, and he beamed brightly when he saw you using brass knuckles, pointing at the TV in glee. He held Eve in his arms, both of them watching you, happy that you did well and even happier that you would be home soon.

-Hermes- Couldn’t help but feel so much pride, you were a natural, but it was also thanks to years of practicing with Hermes, who was always willing to act out scenes of your favorite movies with you and he knew early on that you were going to be great. Seeing you in such a good movie, playing your role with ease, was so satisfying, and he couldn’t help but laugh when you looked so proud of your fireworks.

-Hades- Was texting you through the movie, as he was sitting in the back, so he wasn’t disturbing anyone, telling you what a good job you did which made you smile, as you were currently on a red-eye flight to Tokyo, happy to hear from him. Hades didn’t say anything, as he was going to show you in the hug he was going to give you, how proud he was of you.

-Buddha- Was like a big kid alongside Zerofuku and Loki, cheering for you when you appeared on screen or did something big. His snacks were gone ten minutes into the movie and it led to his attempted thievery of the snacks of others, which ended in a popcorn fight halfway through the movie. The movie had to be paused, everything cleaned up, and new snacks made to make everyone happy. His snacks only lasted another ten minutes.

-Nikola- Was amazed by the movie, watching it like a big kid, eyes glued to the TV, happily shaking Beelzebub’s arm whenever something big happened which the god thought was rather cute. Nikola began to analyze certain stunts, trying to figure out the science behind how it worked and he actually ended up missing some important parts of the movie which led to Beelzebub answering his questions.

-Loki- Y/N’s Number One Fan and founder of your official fan club! Was your fan before you became famous and you’ve told others who tried to claim that they were your first fan that your family, especially Loki, was actually your first. Cheered for you and got pissed when you got hit in the movie, swearing he would hate the actor who hit you for eternity. Was enjoying the movie until he got into a popcorn fight with Buddha after he tried to steal Loki’s popcorn.

Seeing how primordial chaos is such a hard thing to personify, MK is having some trouble finding common ground with other gods/divine beings.

Zagreus (think similar to the Hades game vers) ends up vibing with MK over "not supposed to exist" stuff.

Theres also a concept in japanese mythos of Nigi-mitama and Ara-mitam; aka forces of "good" and "bad" chaos that can manifest as little mini gods. MK just gets covered in little chaos imps wanting him to feel better.

This week saw the release of yet another episode of "My Adventures with Superman", and as always I wanted to share my thoughts on it. These past two episodes have really been getting weirder and adapting some of the more 'out there' elements of superhero comics. Feels strange since the first few episodes seem to promise a more grounded tone and yet in this episode Mr Mxyzptlk, the mischievous fifth dimensional imp, is introduced to this universe, we find out that this universe is part of (sigh) a multiverse, and that there are other versions of Superman and Lois running around in those universes. It's a wild direction for the show to take, however I do think the episode itself is a bit stronger than the previous one, though I do have some quibbles.

So with that let's jump into episode 7 of "My Adventures with Superman" (spoilers to follow) :

- Superman takes Lois and Jimmy to his spaceship and fortress (?) in Smallville to let them learn a little bit more about him. I find it interesting that so far, Superman still doesn't seem too curious about where he came from and what he is. Heck, Jimmy and Lois are more interested in that than Clark himself. Maybe I'm reading too deep into that, but this does remind me of "Superman Smashes the Klan" - in that comic, Superman is reluctant to really engage with his alien origins because they're a strong reminder of how different and unique he is from ordinary people, and his character arc revolves around him eventually accepting his unique alien nature.

MAWS's version of the character is also self conscious about his alien nature, and this episode reminds us of that. Could this show be building up to a similar character arc for Superman ? I certainly hope so, because I loved that character arc in that comic.

- It was hilarious to see both Clark and Lois fret over the date that they were supposed to have in this episode. So far, this show is tearing apart the notion that Superman is "unrelatable" with its dorky and endearing take on the character. I also appreciate that Lois is trying to find out more about Superman's origins because she wants to help him. It's just a sweet moment.

- So this episode introduces Mxyzptlk, and the idea of the multiverse, AND the idea that there are other versions of Lois Lanes patrolling the multiverse. This episode runs at a break neck speed, and I have to wonder if non-comic fans were able to keep up with it considering how "out there" these elements are. Although I guess even casual fans are familiar with the concept of the multiverse thanks to movies like 'Into the Spider-Verse', 'Dr Strange : the Multiverse of Madness' and 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'.

- I was super hyped about this episode because I heard that it was going to introduce Mxyzptlk who is one of my favorite Superman antagonists.

For those of you that don't know, Mxyzptlk is a Fifth-dimensional magical being who has the power to alter reality itself and often uses those abilities to wreak havoc whenever he comes across Superman. You can think of him as a more powerful version of Loki from the Marvel Universe. His powers are seemingly limitless and there is absolutely nothing that Superman can do to physically harm him. The only way to defeat him is by getting him to say his own name backwards, which will banish him back to his own dimension for an extended period of time.

Luckily, while Mxyzptlk is all-powerful, he is also super gullible, which makes it easy for Superman to trick him and defeat him over and over again. He's just one of those comic book characters that so charming and fun, and I'm happy to say that this show has an excellent take on him. He's fun, he's funny, he can come across as a dangerous threat in one scene, only to turn into a total goofball in the next scene. He's great and I especially love the idea that Mxyzptlk has come across different versions of Superman and Lois. This means that Mxyzptlk can run circles around the characters because he seems to know more about them than they do about themselves. It almost feels like Mxyzptlk is a twisted self-insert for the audience, especially for those who have seen different Superman adaptations and are excited to compare and contrast those versions with this cartoon.

- While I loved the show's take on Mxyzptlk, I have to say, I'm not thrilled about the multiverse aspect of this episode. I think a lot of people are getting tired of multiverse stories in general, and I definitely fall in that camp. Why do so many stories feel the need to establish a multiverse in the first place ? What ever happened to stories that could be self-contained and stand on its own merits ? Why does everything need to be connected to everything ? It doesn't help that multiverse stories often end up pandering to the audience with cheap nostalgia and fanservice. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the perfect example of this where the entire plot of the movie is just an excuse to drop in as many references and call backs to previous Spider-Man movies as possible. Thankfully, this episode of 'MAWS' keeps the nostalgia pandering to a minimum, though I still rolled my eyes at the references to the Fleischer and DCAU Superman. Those stories just feel less special when they're all connected in a grand multiverse. I also have to criticize the entire 'council of Lois Lanes' plot since it seems a little derivative of the main plot of 'Across the Spider-Verse'. Overall, I would have preferred it if they just cut that entire plot element out entirely and just had Mxyzptlk as the sole antagonist. You can still play with the idea of him being a dimension hopper, but the multiverse trope can be downplayed and limited only to his character.

- While I may have some gripes about this episode, it's still pretty good in how it handles the characters. I love how active Lois is in this episode, she's constantly moving the plot along, standing up for Superman when she needs to and working with him and Jimmy to take down Mxyzptlk while also evading the other Lois Lanes. This episode ends up sealing the deal when it comes to the Clark and Lois romance as the two finally share a kiss, and its a cute moment.

- This episode ends on a cliffhanger with Lois finding out that there are other versions of Superman in other universes, and unfortunately a lot of those Supermen appear to be evil. I griped about the multiverse aspect of this episode, but it seems like this show is using it to tackle the "evil Superman" trope that has become so popular in the past few years, and honestly - if this show ends up giving a giant middle finger to that tired old trope, I will take back all of my complaints.

So that's the seventh episode of 'My Adventures with Superman'. Despite my complaints, I still liked it and am excited to see more of it. I think I am going to skip the episode next week since I've heard that it's a two-parter and I would rather watch it in its entirety in the following week instead of watching it one episode at the time. It seems like the next few episodes will pay off all the plot threads that the show has set up, and I cannot wait to see how that turns out.
