The Wizard Spite
(The Wizard, The Witch, And The Wild One Original Character)
The Wizard Spite, an illusionist of The Citadel.
When he chose his name cloak, it was not due to his feelings towards the world around him in the current, but more so to how he wanted to feel eventually.
An illusionist of the Citadel has little use outside of psychological warfare. But at the core of an illusion is creativity. If you can't imagine what you want to create, then your illusions have no substance. A Minor Illusion is the most basic of cantrips, and really only used to clean up minor details that you don't need to bother with. But only an illusionists would include shading
The Wizard Spite showed immense aptitude for learning and memorization. Being able to look at a page of incantations and see it clearly in his mind caused him to get noticed quickly. Passing the required tests, he began tracks to become a wizard. Though it was often noted that he would take notes on the Faunaloges more than the magic theory. His notebooks contained writings and minor sketches of people and objects. Their movements and idiosyncrasies, the clothes and light.
Spite assumed he had to be a wizard. It's something people of Citadel aspired to, and what his parents recommended to him. If he is able to, then he should. He didn't know what else he wanted to be either. So becoming a Wizard felt right.
When it came time for him to pick a specialization and track, he tried for Conjuration. He hoped that conjuring things would allow him to gain a better understanding of the mechanics of physiology. Though the magical theory around Conjuration ended up not being for him, and he was transferred over to an Illusionist track, one not sought out by many.
An illusionist has two goals when they are casting their spells.
1) To Deceive, Distract, and/or Entertain their target(s).
2) To Study, Analyze, and Observe their Target(s).
An illusion's effectiveness increases with knowledge of the target.
Spite knew how to watch people, when he was with his friends he found his mind wandering to how their mouths moved as they spoke, or how eyes move. Those subtle differences in how people react to things is what Spite was best at.
In the year he would get his Name Cloak, he initially was going to become The Wizard Scrutinize. Though he then found out exactly what Illusionist do in and outside the Citadel. Fear is a powerful tool, and is held in the Empire's hand. Not often are they called upon to do so, but sometimes a Wizard that has stepped to far out of line needs to have zipped lips. Enchanters and their abilities to Modify memories can only last so long. But the image of their world burning around them lasts forever.
He accidentally found this information out, though he wasn't as shaken as he might've thought he would be. After all, this is what he has been trained to do so far, and more yet to come. He knew this was right, wizards are defined by their secrets. If the Citadel let all Wizards and Soldiers speak so freely, then how quickly might everything crumble?
When he stood their and chose Spite as his Name Cloak, the meaning was not directed at the world around him, but at the person he would become. Hatred directed towards his future self for what he will do for his Empire.
The Wizard Spite lives alone, a man known for his bitterness more than anything else. Once a great artist and entertainer in his 20's, now a drained and bleak individual in his 50's.

yesterday i was thinking about peter pettigrew and his betrayal / joining the death eaters. of course, in times of war and with death looming above one's head, one will definitely do mistakes and possibly join a side that doesn't align with their views. i have multiple theories about why peter might have joined the death eaters, though.
i'll preface this by saying that i do believe that peter was a marauder. however, and i say this reflected by what other people in the series have said about him, he was always the "less" of the marauders. less attractive, less smart, less ambitious, and that might have given him an inferiority complex that could have gotten the best of him at some points, and that could play a part in everything.
1. the need to prove himself
my first theory would be that. that, the fact that he wanted to prove himself and show that he can carry something as big as both being the potters' secret keeper, but he also wanted to prove the fact that he was just as good as the rest of his mates were.
we have been told that voldemort promised his followers certain things in order to lure them in, to play his game; power, fame, glory.
peter wanted glory. he wanted people to realize that he was no less than remus, james, and sirius, and he might have taken it too far.
2. the secret keeper
a bit of background on this: shortly after harry's birthday, when lily sent the letter to sirius, the potters were already in hiding. it is also known that peter had become the secret keeper of the potters one week before their death. (i don't remember who said that and they referred it to sirius, but said person didn't know about the secret keeper change).
timewise, that means that sirius had also been a secret keeper at some point, and something made him decide to switch (it would have been too obvious for him to be both; godfather and secret keeper. he would have become a target instantly.), and so he asked peter to be the secret keeper, which he agreed to. now, the question is; how or why did peter tell voldemort the potters' location? this theory splits in two:
a) we knew that, during the war, the unforgiveable curses have been used on people. there is a possibility, although i doubt that, that peter had told voldemort about the potters' location while under the imperius curse.
b) he has told him everything willingly, which kind of links to the first theory, if you pay attention.
3. under the imperius all along
my third theory, which is, just as the other imperius-linked point, pretty unlikely, but still. the same way that voldemort and his followers had used the imperius curse, in the second wizarding war, on a (useless) member of the muggle ministry, they could have done the same with wizards.
peter was a part of the order. that in itself means that he knew more about the potters and the situation they were on than voldemort had. (before he had found out about the prophecy) he might have used peter to both join the death eaters and tell him the location of the potters. for all we know, he could have been under the imperius curse, cast by voldemort, all along.

imagine playing D&D with your f/o(s)! what kind of class and race would they choose? will they get really serious about it or just have fun? imagine how they save you when it was a close call for you in a boss fight, their outburst of triumph when they roll out 20
imagine you're discussing in between gaming sessions how do you want your characters' bond to develop, overall talking about the game, memory of it still fresh in your mind, their exictement about the epic moments and their laughter brought by memories of the most ridiculous things that had happened
would they call you by your character name outside of the game?
they are really happy they get to live through such amazing adventures with you by their side

i feel like ppl on the internet overanalyze what makes a good apology now .. i remember wen i first started seeing ppl talk abt the difference between "good" and "bad" apologies like 10 or so years ago n the focus was more like "are they trying to shift blame off of themselves or are they actually accepting responsibility"
so an example as a shit apology is like "im sorry you felt offended i didnt expect anyone to react that way to what i did" n its cuz its basically blaming ppl for being offended
and then other apologies that r often considered bad r ones that seem almost like a vague generic template like "i did wrong so i will do better now pls forgive me" n it doesnt show the person even acknowledges what they even did wrong they just want to skip to being forgiven w/e any effort
and criticisms of those types i accept fully but i feel like ppl r starting to get more and more specific w how apologies need to b as if the apology needs to b absolutely flawless to mean anything n i think thats so bogus ... usually wen someone is apologizing for smth and they actually mean it and care a lot then they r also gonna b v emotional n its weird to expect someone who is spiraling to produce the most perfect well thought out and eloquent apology humanly possible .. like that is a legit skill to be able to write well thought out statements and its not a skill that spontaneously develops based on how genuinely sorry someone is lol ..
of course there are also lots of important nuance in any given situation such as what it is that is being apologized for and who the person is n all this other stuff so of course an apology can still b bad even if it isnt trying to blame other ppl/feels like a template but i still think there r way too many situations in which there are overly high expectations of what an apology should include
i feel like after taking a step back from internet culture i gained more of an understanding that people r just people and are always liable to make many mistakes and to b unable to handle everything perfectly especially wen emotions r high so i feel more forgiveness esp for ppl whos "crime" wasnt anything that extreme or was maybe understandable given the situation they were placed in and the feelings they were likely feeling .. no one acts rationally 100% of the time and mistakes r how ppl learn.. again there is nuance to everything tho
