characters !! all the genshin men i could think of rn...

note !! it's been a while since i've written hcs for a lot! aaaah just some thoughts i had today (i had a few culture shocks here and there when i met up with new friends hahahah)

~ m o n d s t a d t ~

grabbing zhongli by the hand to dance and sing in the middle of the square because mondstadters live for the festivities! he quickly learns to freestyle dance along with you, moving with the crowd and cheers and wine. (remember that Tangled scene? yes)

kaveh wasn't sure how to react the day you ordered hard liquor on your first date. sure, your freedom and love for a good drink is one of the things which made him fall for you but wow– are you really gonna down that many glasses on a date? what do you mean you're still sober?

ayato finds himself in love with the way you sing. it doesn't follow the rules of inazuman opera at all; it's much more freeing (much like how his house help sings as he does chores) and you'd tell him stories and the history of your homeland in the form of songs. no mondstadter could ever forget the songs they grew up listening to!

heizou being almost appalled by your rather... robust and reckless nature. you don't have any backup plans whenever a situation goes south, you simply hold his hand, smile, and say "we go where the wind blows!"

~ l i y u e ~

diluc having chopsticks as part of your dining utensils because sometimes, you're more comfortable eating with it (let's not forget often having rice on the table! he must learn the joys of garlic rice with his steak <3)

dainsleif stays by your side as you offer incense and fruits to your ancestors. he whispers quiet prayers, bows when you do, and helps you clean their altars. he finds solace in the familial piety of liyuens– it makes him wish he could honor his ancestors with the same kind of peace as you do.

kazuha getting tongue tied over the language being so similar to inazuman but also so different– why are some of the characters the same? why are the meanings different? there's a bit of miscommunication in the start, but you both find your own ways to understand each other when words fail.

we all know gorou has always wanted to climb the mountains of liyue and you made it possible! meeting him by the docks and touring him around your home nation, you made sure to pick hiking routes with the most scenic spots, even managing to tour him around the jade palace and the floating lone island.

~ i n a z u m a ~

kaeya has no idea how you sit on the floor while being comfortable. you've made him sit with you once while reading a book, after that, his bones ached for days! shaking every time he stood back up!

albedo met you in the irodori festival- he painted you for practice and spark between you started. the long distance was difficult at first, but his long letters always had a little drawing of you and you'd send back the scent of cherry blossoms. klee would also send you letters, asking you to come visit soon!

childe loves a new fighting style; like most sword users in inazuma, you followed the raiden shogun's teachings– swift, efficient, and at one with the sword. he loves how you fight and it's often how you end your dates!

cyno was almost confident that you were playing a prank the day you said you'll make him your specialty and you showed him a platter of raw seafood. it's "sashimi and ngiri" you say, and he waited for you to explain the pun of your joke. it wasn't a joke.

thoma is quite used to mondstadters and inazumans, two very different cultures, then he meets you and your sumeru upbringing! you show him how to cook foods that can be eaten with hands, and your menu is often so colorful he can't help but admire it!

itto doesn't really understand the study culture of sumeru, but he totally supports whatever it is you're talking about and tries to add in comments (his comments don't exactly make sense though...)

scaramouche, in his "path of redemption and healing", unwillingly gets involved with you as you show him around the beautiful parts of sumeru! you argue that he needs a different, better outfit with a color scheme that matches his vision. he insists that the hat stays. you tell him he looks like an aranara.

al haitham was almost concerned the day you got a heatstroke after being in the desert for no more than a few minutes. snezhnaya has prepared you for harsh weather, but never the heat. soon enough your lover is carrying around heatstroke-first aid packs just for you.

bundling up tighnari's fluffy ears before setting foot in snezhnaya because you just know the cold would practically freeze them off. his tail also gets wrapped and bundled warm in the large coats you wear, protection from the harsh snow. he says he looks like a big lummox.

note !! alright, choose your favorite dynamic! i personally think mondstadters with liyue/inazuma would be interesting maybe because i want to force feed them the joys of rice...

What your teams of lights wants you to know? A self tarot reading.

Group i, ii, iiii, iv

But before we move on onto the reading, i want you to understand what teams of light is.

Now I won't go into details, but if you want a separate post on this, let me know in the replies. I would be more than happy to teach you more.

This is a direct quote from Laura lynne Jackson, the author of "signs: the secret language of the universe" :

You are not stuck as u like to think. You know your way out of this thing (a good majority of you already made it out of this situation) tbh i mostly see a relationship but it could also totally be something related to finances and just money in general.

Here is what you need to hear tho, whoever and whatever this situation was, you will do so much better without them. You are more than capable of handling this alone. And ur teams of light are more than willing to help you, to make this easier for you. So ask for help, but within not from the outside. U have so much within urself that the world outside is nothing but a failed attempt to reflect what you already have.

Group ii

Very similar message to group i, kinda the same theme but while theirs revolved around trusting the self, and working through their situation alone, yours is more about collaborating with others to solve this. Now i know this may have failed for you before, but this time try differently, maybe with a different person (s).

Ur luck is about to be better but here's what i (and you teams of light) need you to do, 1. Have stronger boundaries 2. Dont get emotionally attached to these people (person) this is business, not friendship. 3. Just this time try, i promise it will go better.

Group iii

Honestly this is the group that i feel most horrible for. This group seems to be going through a lot financially speaking, some of you might even be on the verge of going homeless. Listen up my babe, you know your situation better than i do, u actually know way too well that bad your situation is or can potentially become, and it's stressing you out beyond measures.

Your teams of light is clearly saying "go there" "go back", it's something about relying on another person or maybe even the government, maybe a shelter or a father figure (I definitely see a dad) to help you in this. This is the best thing to do. Trust me, this time reach out for your own sake and safety.

Group iv

Wow and here I thought only group iii situation was bad. um.. so do u struggle with some sort of addiction? Or do you feel like you are in a home or a situation that's crumbling to the group but u r stuck and you cannot get out? If that's not you then this is not your group(altho i still suggest u read the advice section in case it might somehow be exactly what u need to hear).

Okay, if you know this is your group, then let me tell you that there's a way out. Something will come up, idk what it is but it will be big. Most probably a guy will come in, they will offer you something, an idea maybe? (Altho be fucking careful, this whole situation is very effy). I genuinely dont know what's happening... like legit this group confuses the fuck out of me, so idk if u should take this offer... dont get desperate and i know u r desperate but it's almost like the cards are telling me to tell you to not trust this person but to use their idea. Almost like listen to their advice and take their advice but not with them in the plan..

Im gonna give u an example so u understand; you live in an abusive household, and u wanna escape it. But u cannot find the way out, then boom this guy comes in and is like I'll help you but long term if u go with them u will end up in a very bad situation. But here's another way to do it, this person tells u how they will help you, like their plan to get u out, what i need u to do is do as their plan minus them( the guy).

Hopefully this makes sense, english is my third language so i find it hard to tell u exactly how it is.

Okay, okay, hear me out:

Spy x Family AU, except Marinette is Loid & Adrien is Yor.

Marinette & Loid both have this alternate self that is very calculative & has the urge to plan out every possible outcome of a situation so they're not caught off guard. Not to mention that both of them have this very strong sense of justice and, each in their own way, are trying to make the world around them a better & safer place. However, both of them also have this other side that is gentle and kind and, essentially, a softy (though this shows more in Marinette bc, well, she hasn't been through the things Loid has been).

Then we have Adrien, who, like Yor, is outwardly sweet & cheerful and doesn't have a clue what to do with Life (TM). But he also has a dark & deadly side, which makes him absolutely consider dirtying his hands if he thought he was protecting the ppl he loves (*cough* derrision *cough*). I can totally see him become an assassin if it was the only thing he could do to protect his loved ones & bring food to the table, esp if he was taught to do that from a young age.

Also, some of my other headcanons for this AU (and pls beware of possible spoilers for sxf if u aren't caught up or want to watch):

- Emma would be Anya, obv, and like Anya, she has telepathic powers and can read her parents' minds. (Side note: I was considering making Emma a creation of the peacock miraculous & for that to be the reason she has her telepathy powers, but then I realized the miraculous existing in this AU might not make much sense, so I'm putting it on the backburner. If anybody wants to explore that, though, be my guest!)

- The plushy u see in Emma's hands in my drawing is Tikki, which is the equivalent of Mr. Chimera in the anime (however, alternatively, The Handler could be Tikki & in turn, The Shopkeeper could be Plagg. But going with my initial idea...)

- The cat in the picture, then, would be Plagg, who is the equivalent of Bond. However, unlike Bond, Plagg is a little shit & he knows it & therefore gives Marinette a lot of grief. But he's very cute when he wants to be, and Emma is very set on keeping him, so Marinette resorts to silent psychological warfare with him. Surprisingly, Plagg is pretty chill when it comes to Adrien to everyone's surprise.

- Just like Bond, Plagg also has psychic powers. However, I can just see him hissing in annoyance everytime a vision pops up. :D

- Adrien is secretly an assassin who exterminates traitors with his special dagger(s) that he calls 'Cataclysm'.

- Marinette is a spy who is tasked with getting close to her target, Chloe Bourgeois. She has a customized gun that she prefers to use that she calls her 'lucky charm'.

- Also, the same as the anime, Marinette's agent name is 'Ladybug' & Adrien's is 'Chat Noir'.

- Chloe is Marinette's target (I know Desmond & Gabriel are crazy similar, but I think it'd be pretty weird to have Gabe & Adrien in the same universe & for them to not be related).

- Chloe has 2 children: a twin son & daughter who r attending the same prestigious school. The daughter (which I haven't chosen a name for) is the equivalent of Becky & the son (which I also don't know the name of) is the equivalent of Damian.

- Chloe's daughter lives with her father (who I imagine is Luka bc it's a guilty ship of mine, but eh), but she also pays for her child support and education, so her daughter was raised like a princess and therefore has the same princess tendencies as Becky.

- Chloe's son is still pretty much the same as Damian, so not much to add there. (Yes, exactly like Damian. If you know, you know :) )

- Lastly, I will leave you with this out of pocket notion: Felix as Yuri and Kagami as Fiona (and yes, I very much ship them, even in this AU :) )

An alphabet of old language in the “Dark rise” by C.S.Pacat

Or something like this…

Disclaimer: I am new in this fandom, so I will be really sorry if the same work already exists. I did not want to duplicate someone`s work. Also, please, correct me if I miss something or make mistakes!

And remember: it`s just a theory.

"There is no sense in strange inscriptions", I thought, when I saw it in books for the first time. However, last evening I decided to compare translations with pictures in the book and found out that this language was not as hard for reading as I considered. I`d like to share my ideas about this topic and, if it would be interesting, to discuss some moments, which I can`t explain right now.

Some rules:

The main axiom is that one letter in English is one letter in this language.

“Tails” of vowels are pointing upward in every case.

“Tails” of consonants are pointing downward in most situations. (not always)

All letters add up in a line. (Part of the ship, part of the crew).

A dash line helps with selecting letters and words, but not always.

Full analysis will be only about the first example.

The key: “Rassalon the First Lion”. (Chapter 10)

This phrase is the best start for a work, because there are a plenty of repeating letters in words. Аll what I need is to find similar elements and to highlight them different colors.

Step 1 — selecting similar letters

"Rassalon..." and other words

We have double S in “RaSSalon”, so it is easy to notice similar details in the beginning. S also in the “FirSt”.

Double S are between two A, so they might stand in the edges.

R is left alone in the beginning, but it will be in “FiRst”.

L — "Lion"

O—"LiOn"

N — “LioN”

"...the First Lion"

T — in “The” and “FirsT”

i — in “First” and “Lion”

!(why “i” is small I will explain later)!

Step 2 — non-repeating letters

New letters: H, e (!!) and F.

An analysis of other phrases

“He is coming” (Chapter 11)

New letters: C, M and G.

And "e", but I will tell about it later.

“I cannot return when I am called to fight So I will have a child” (Chapter 2)

New letters: U, W, D, V and I(!)

I and i are different. Why? In my opinion, it might be because “I” is a pronoun in this case.

“Enter only those who can” (Chapter 15)

New letters: Y, E, e.

E and e are different. Perhaps, it is because “E” in the beginning?

“The horn all seek and never find” (Chapter 15)

New letter: K.

I`m very grateful to my sister, who painted all illustrations for my article.

The investigation amused me a lot even if the alphabet is incomplete. Information isn`t enough at this moment, so I hope the second part of book will give new letters and new rules of old language. This is the new reason why I am exited of waiting for the “Dark heir”. I hope, dear reader, you share my delight of this discover.

One hilarious fact, before I end

English is not my native language, so I read “Dark rise” in the first time in my language. And I have two different paper editions 2021 and 2022 years.

I decided to compare pictures in books and…

There are SAME ILLUSTRATIONS every time, when there must be inscriptions in old language. If there is a short phrase, they cut THIS ILLUSTRATION and left only the begining of it. In other words, it is one illustration throughout two books.

I could understand if they did it only in the edition by 2021 year, but they did not! As well it doesn`t fit in my theory, because most of letters are different than previous ones.

Now I have some questions for other fans:

Was this illustration in the first edition?

Do you meet it in other translations? (or is it the joke of my translation?)

What is the key, if somebody know?

I tried to translate it as I did it before, but it was the mess. Therefore, I am open to new ideas.

okay SO! these r a bunch of creloise fic ideas i came up w on the train ride home from uni bc am i not jus a girl who overthinks? w all the time in the world?? on a train???

so fair warning this is a LOT, but at least ik the old man sittin next to me was fairly entertained so u win some u lose some i suppose lmao 😭

- i def wanna see more 2000s or 90s AUs cuz duhhh i would love a little line ab them havin specific ringtones for each otha on their silly little flip phones (id cry if i saw this)

- OR OR OR clubbing scenes, meeting on the UNDERGROUND OMG!!!

(the trains that go under ldn for the americans idk if u lot kno what it is sorry, it’s like NYC subway??😭)

.. anyways cressida could always notice eloise reading something and tries to talk to her by either reading the same book or one journey jus offering the book “emma” (LIKE IN THE SHOW GUYS?!?) as a good read before she gets off on her stop OMDS and/or eloise always noticing cressida’s fashionable-ness for a fùckin 9-5 (yes cressida would be giving office siren absolutely) and maybe if the tables are turned, cressida is reading and eloise notices this and suddenly sparks up conversation bc she simply cannot shut her mouth (and replaying all the times she’s seen cressida in new outfits like the montage scene of anne hathaway in the devil wears prada LMFAO) n every tube journey they encounter each otha on, they go back n forth on their opinions on which eva book they’re reading atm OMGGGG n maybe on valentines one of them gives the otha a rose or a book before they get off SOMEONE RESTRAIN ME MY BRAIN IS WORKING OVERTIME 😭

- would also love to see more modern AUs in general like yes i loooove seein this pairing in different time periods, adapting to the ideas and limitations of that era MWAH to everyone who has been writing these i love you - let me kiss u on yo fùckin cranium MWAH !

- imagine a 1920s jazz girls creloise like idk who would be a jazz singer (maybe cressida??), havin them be in ‘flapper girl’ attire.. IDK id jus love to imagine them in that environment perhaps smoking from those thingies that held the cig itself

- not to stress this too much (i am) but i wanna see them as a 90s or def a 2000s famous pairing!! like both are singers!! i mean cmon cressida would hav an unbelievable stage presence w her amazing outfits we’ve seen in the show itself and eloise would be more punk-ish i suppose!!

or eloise remains a singer and cressida is a model?! but in both situations it’s like they despiseeee each otha or at least eloise does of cressida bc of her overall appearance and the message her looks send (i.e. similar to bridgerton era blah blah expectations etc)

but then they hav to date as a publicity stunt to push down rumours that they hate each otha or maybeeeee penelope is a news outlet they’re trying to get the jump on by going ‘noooo we don’t hate each otha we’re actually dating!’ (they do hate each otha but they fall in love obvs)

or penelope is one of their publicists and has set this up??.. or they’re forced to write a song together IDK this can go any which way but i was inspired by the song “maybe” by emma bunton as a song cressida would DEFINITELY sing OR “let me see” by Morcheeba

man idk Cressida jus gives me the vibe that in this AU she could be equivalent to kylie minogue or a brit pop icon of sorts regardless or Kate Moss if u went w the cressida as a model version AND MAYBE ELOISE AS A PHOTOGRAPHER??? IDK!!!!

- also NEED NEED. NEEEEED. a MR n MRS SMITH AU OF THEM!!!! like omdssss

(im referencing the original film w angelina jolie but go wild if one were to write this, which most like won’t happen but oh well 😭)

but omds the tension that would be between them both !!!! like eloise fits the playful goofy but intelligent character of mr smith, whilst i can most definitely see cressida in the role of mrs smith! trying her utmost best to keep things calculated and goin according to plan but (as u kno if you’ve watched the film) eloise will ruin this calculated streak she’s got 😭 OMDSSSS i can jus imagine their banter as they fight

- uhhh fuck me a surfer AU??? why not atp i’d love to see it where either teaches the otha to surf?? or it’s one where eloise is the one travelling around instead of colin (lmao #white girl goin on holiday to find herself) or w him as this would be a modern AU n she meets cressida somewhere in the mediterranean (bc cressida was sent away by her father) n yk sparks and whatnot ensue 🤭

“Honey, please sit down.” Mary is trying her best to be comforting, even as she feels the annoyance creeping up in her chest.

I know you’re scared, but I’m fucking terrified. Is what she wants to yell at him; it’s been a tense week, and his pacing is not helping her anxiety.

But she doesn’t.

She knows how stressed Bradley has been, how stressed he is. He’s kept a brave face on for the girls, but now that it’s just the two of them, she can feel his emotions bouncing off the walls.

“Okay, so based on what you’ve told me, I think our best course of action is to run some tests and see what’s going on.”

“Could it be cancer?”

“Mr. Bradshaw, I won’t speculate on what it could be, there are several things that-”

“I’m just asking if it’s a possibility. Her family doesn’t have a history of cancer, but they’re also not the best at going to the doctor, so who knows.”

Doctor Hong leans back on the stool, crossing her arms over her chest. She must see the terrified look in his eyes because she softens. “Mr. Bradshaw, like I said. It could be several different things that are causing these symptoms. I won’t lie to you; there is a possibility that it could be cancer. But we don’t want to worry about that until we officially have a diagnosis. Other than her recent problems, Mary is very healthy, and I’m confident that we’ll be able to handle whatever is going on.”

Her words during Monday’s appointment had done little to comfort Bradley. He had spent the entire week with his eyebrows creased. It’s Friday, and Mary is starting to worry that it’s going to be a permanent expression on his face.

They both took the day off, leaving the girls in the care of Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell before heading to the healthcare complex. Mary had spent most of the morning going through the tests Dr. Hong had ordered.

Blood pressure.

Urine test.

Blood work.

Pap smear.

Abdomen ultrasound.

Then, she was released and informed that the doctor would review her results that afternoon and call them if anything urgent showed up.

Her phone rang halfway to the house.

Bradley made the first u-turn he could legally make, tires squealing, and now they’re waiting in an office. Mary’s leg bouncing as Bradley paces up and down, across the carpet and back, tenser than she had ever seen him.

“Please come sit with me.” The shake in her voice finally getting him to stop.

“I’m sorry.” He mummers, grabbing her hand and squeezing. “I’m just scared.”

“Me too, Bradley. But it’ll be okay.”

“You can’t promise-”

“Honey, we’ve handled a lot. We’ll get through whatever this is, okay? Because it’s us. We made vows to each other, and I’m not done with you yet.” Her voice cracks on the last part, tears springing to both of their eyes.

“Fuck, I’m supposed to be comforting you, baby doll. I’m sorry I’ve been such a bad husband this week.”

“I get it, honey, it’s okay. It’s a bit too similar to your mom for comfort.”

“But that doesn’t make it okay! Shit. I wish I could talk to my parents about this. Dad wasn’t there, but I know he would have been so much better about this than me!”

Mary pulls him in, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth. “Breathe, handsome. We don’t know what’s going on yet.”

“Baby doll, I don’t want to sound like a paranoid asshole, but them calling us less than twenty minutes after we left can’t be good.”

Dr. Hong enters the room, cutting off any further worrying. “Hi guys, thanks for coming back in so quickly. Just let me get your file pulled up, and we’ll go through the results.”

It’s a tense few minutes, the clacking of the keyboard grating on the couple’s nerves, before the practitioner turns to them and folds her hands on the big oak desk.

“I reviewed your test results, and everything came back normal. We did find something on the ultrasound.” Bradley’s hand starts to crush Mary’s. “But it’s nothing to worry about. If you could just look at the screen right here.”

All three heads swivel to the monitor on the wall, a grainy black-and-white image showing up. “So everything looks healthy in here, Mary. The only thing we found was a baby. Congratulations, mom and dad! It looks like you’re about-”

Dr. Hong keeps talking, explaining how far along Mary is and what the baby's due date will be, but it’s white noise to the Bradshaws, blood rushing in their ears.

“I’m sorry, wait.” Bradley croaks. “She’s pregnant?”

“Yes, it looks like you’re about 13 weeks along. And everything is very healthy.”

“I don’t- I- I don’t…” Mary trails off, her heart racing at the news. “A baby?”

“Yes. If my interpretation of the scans is correct, you’re thirteen weeks pregnant.” Dr. Hong talks slower, used to patients’ shock at unexpected news.

“That doesn’t make any sense.” Bradley can hardly catch his breath. “I had a vasectomy last year. I did all the follow-ups and was cleared. How is she pregnant? I mean, we’ve been having a lot of sex, but I’m shooting blanks.”

She’s heard a lot of things in her time as a healthcare professional, but for the first time in her career, Stacey Hong is unsure how to proceed. Mainly because if she opens her mouth, she’s afraid she’ll start laughing at the horrified look on her patient’s face. She has to bite her tongue when Mary slaps her husband’s arm, hissing his name as her face turns red.

Breathe. Don’t laugh. These are some of your nicest patients. Don’t laugh at them. Breathe.

She pushes through, ignoring the last part of his question and addressing the real issue. “Vasectomies are a very effective form of birth control, but unfortunately, they aren’t 100% effective. About 1 in every 1,000 vasectomies fail, and that failure usually reveals itself within the first year following the procedure. So you’re right in that timeframe.”

“Oh my god. Oh my god.” Bradley bends over his knees, running his fingers through his hair before bouncing up like a Jack in the Box. “Mary? How are you feeling? You okay, honey?”

“I’m- I… I don’t know. So, all my symptoms were pregnancy-related? This is not how I was with the twins.”

“Every pregnancy is unique, so it’s not unusual that this time would be different than it was with your girls. We’ll have to wait for the results of your pap smear to be completely sure, but I’m fairly confident that we can attribute everything - including the exhaustion - to your pregnancy.” Dr. Hong stands up. “I’m sorry to rush you, but I do have another appointment to get to. I’ll have Ashley set up a follow-up appointment and get you set up in the system for this pregnancy. They can print off some ultrasound photos at the front if you'd like them. I’ll see you soon; congratulations again, you guys!”

They move at a snail’s pace, slowly making their way to the front desk in a daze. Mary stuffs the informational folder in her purse and grabs Bradley’s hand as they walk to the Bronco. They sit there staring at each other for a few minutes before Bradley pulls the ultrasound photos out of the folder.

“Another baby…” He stares in awe at the low-quality screenshots. “How are you feeling? I know we decided we were done after the girls, but this obviously changes things.”

“Are we too old to have another kid? We were already older when we had the girls, but we’re really gonna be old when this one comes.”

“So we had kids a bit later in life.” He shrugs, shuffling over the bench seat towards his favorite person. “We’re still the cool parents in our forties.”

The laugh she lets out is wet, tears streaming down her face. “Hey, are you okay? If this isn’t what you want, we don’t have to do this, Mary. I’m happy with either way.”

“No, it’s not that, Bradley. I know it’s not what we planned, but now that we’re here, I absolutely want this.” She squeezes his hand. “It’s just hitting me again that I never thought I’d get this life. A wonderful husband who supports me so much. A little group of kids.”

“Still no dog, though.” He mummers, kissing her tears away. “You think Lily will accept a baby brother instead of a puppy?”

“You think it’s a boy?”

“Yeah, I just have a feeling. Do we still have that list of baby names? We’re gonna need it again.”

“Mav is gonna cry again, huh?”

“Give me a minute, and I will be too.”

The kisses they exchange are tender, identical to the ones they shared after they found out she was pregnant with the twins. Happiness radiates through the car.

“There is just one thing I need you to do.” Mary pulls back, smiling as Bradley presses kisses against her face, excitedly whispering about how they’re going to be parents again.

“Anything for you. Whatever you need, mama.”

“You have to call Dr. Lewis on Monday and schedule another vasectomy. This has to be the last one, or we’ll be 60 and still popping out kids.”

“You’d be so sexy as a pregnant 60-year-old.”

“Bradley…”

“I’ll call first thing, baby doll. I love you.”

“I love you, too.” She kisses him with all the love she has. “Let’s go tell our family we have a new member coming to join us in February.”

THANK U SO MUCH Im not sure if I’m gonna write zx in the future since I’ve tended to be shy about posting my stuff relating to them for over a yr now, but I did post this fic with them last year while trying to get a hold on how to write them (mind the tags it’s pure angst omg). Honestly my theory for why ppl r very set on the father/son interpretation is everyone’s immediate thought on to how to make the power imbalance between them seem less uncomfortable is to apply a parental interpretation to it. Which is fine ofc, I get it, but the way ppl push it as canon a lot kind of grates on me a little bc they’re usually incredibly passive aggressive and pushy even if u clearly designate ur post as ship OTL

Also not really a fan of the characterizations either since ppl tend to treat Xiao like a moody teenager Zhongli has to reel in (this is hilariously reminiscent of the post I made about how ppl handle scaramouche and nahida a bit ago haha). And idk I just feel kind of polarized about the headcanon overall bc I associate it with people being really uncomfortable and frustrating about zx

I just like how there’s sort of an imbalance to them, some zxs like them being more fluffy and functional but I sort of like it where it’s not like, entirely dysfunctional but I’m prioritizing a specific kind of character study over romance. This tends to be how a lot of my ships go ngl I just sometimes enjoy the intensity/intimacy of romantic feelings thrown into the mix if it makes it interesting but I’m not often interested in a lot of my ships following more standard romance plots(?) I guess? Unless it’s specific ones. Which sounds clinical when I put it like that but this is just bc I am very aromantic NHFBVJVJ

When I say codependency in zhongxiao honestly it’s sort of a theoretical(?) codependency—not sure how to word it? I think Xiao would be really fucked up if he didn’t have Zhongli in his life suddenly but I don’t think his relationship with getting attached to people invokes what people would majorly think of when they think of codependency in a ship I suppose. It’s moreso I just feel Xiao could be at his worst with dehumanizing himself in comparison to other people with Zhongli, because said mental state is driven by how he feels about debt, service, and duty which are very closely tied with devotion and how he would feel about someone he considers his god and leader, as well as someone who saved him

It’s fun this is paired with Zhongli who generally knows how to work with Xiao kind of understands the self destructive depth Xiao’s loyalty/devotion comes with. Also fun they have been around each other for a very long time and Xiao as one of the adepti is familiar with the past I think Zhongli appreciates having around. They work but it’s also a case where Zhongli is in such a position of power over Xiao its kind of very delicate situation that’s hard for both of them to navigate. Which is fun to explore. I esp love contrasting it with other Xiao pairings (actually i think i still have that xiaoven fic up on my ao3 where I tried to convey a specific interpretation of them in a similar exploration vein too)

I totally get why people wouldn’t like it (I feel a lot of my opinions on xiao ships just clash with a lot of fandom consensus so bad all the time And it’s just bc I’m like this I’m not even trying to be contrarian or anything. HELDINCJD) but I just tend to handle shipping in a specific way. It’s not I don’t enjoy fluffy or lighthearted zl and xiao stuff I actually enjoy it a lot I just like there being layers. This makes it feel more impactful when I think about how Zhongli looks out for Xiao in canon or how Xiao gets like textually flustered talking to him (lantern rite 2023 was so tailored to my tastes it’s not even funny)

Last week i had the stupid idea of complaining bout why there's no detailed takes on what people think deviancy is in DBH and how it happens and works (after all i'm late here and it's kinda lonely).

I thought why not try to show my pov on this? I got multiple ideas in a couple of posts but i ain't got one specific for "what I thinks deviancy in dbh is overall" so i'm here now trying to explain - in english 😮‍💨

First, I wanna make it clear everything here is theory and hc TRYING to use "canon friendly" ramblings. I wanna stay grounded but it's difficult with a game about... sentient AI with complex bodies in 2038. I lack sci-fi, i'm an action dude and not philosophical at all. Some things may have any sense or not.

Secondly, I won't be gettin images, quotes or anything cuz i'm lazy. I'll spit my thoughts and... probably edit it 40 times. I also curse a lot, don't take it seriously if for some reason u found this shit. It's a big text.

So, now...in a summary

Wtf do I think deviancy is?

To me is the event where the android receive a direct order from the handler, process the instruction and is able to go against the order without using any evading method, basically becoming their own and only master.

Wait, so u don't think it's related with emotions and the androids becoming so human in 'em gestual?

No. Basically Deviancy = autonomy.

Autonomy? What do u mean "autonomy"?

Autonomy = android as master = as admin

Priorities? They set. Actions? They decide. Orders? They make 'em. Everything is under 'em control. Well...almost everything - at least related to that.

Imo the cause of "deviancy" is a program hole all androids have. Any android can go deviant (in a sense): if there's any leash, they can go deviant. Somebody left these holes open knowing specific things would happen under certain conditions and nobody did shit cuz:

They thought nothing bad would happen cuz a specific process is required so the android become deviant and the % is kinda low (at least at that moment)?

They just gave up, knowing there's nowhere to run and it's pray for nothing serious happen?

They wanted it to happen?

The high unemployment, depression and search for drugs like red ice are predictable events but i don't think they predicted humans would become that hostile to androids.

I like to think deviancy is an old thing (at least a decade) and been increasing along with this shit. Just made big news now cuz CL slipped.

Now how i think it works. To make my line of thoughts understandable i gonna break it down in 3 parts: conditions, event process and consequences.

⚠️ A freakin' fuckin' warning: some topics may be related to others or completely tied together u don't even know why they're separate.

This is all a big overthinking of mine. U can stop reading here.

-> Conditions

Awkward situations (stress level 1)

Few days ago i was questioning why androids are so easy to get yellow'd when u r messing with 'em. Yellow LED is something like a 'medium level processing'; means they're thinking about how to proceed. I don't think our fellow workers are made to be abruptly interrupted every time like that but it's kinda interesting how they can get stressed so easily sometimes. This is...problematic.

Conflicting priorities/instructions and urgent decisions (stress level 2)

Each model got a different amount of process power tied to 'em purposes. For some models may be more easy to get stressed than others but i guess they're kinda similar when it comes to urgent decisions. Here it's like an "i'm cornered" situation.

Things like threat/aggression (especially physical) can make 'em have conflicts (i gonna call doubts) especially when they're on their own and the cause of stress is literally the thing at a level above 'em (humans). Doubts gonna stress 'em, they gotta find a solution so they can proceed with what they were doing fast. But how? Sometimes it clashes with previous orders, established priorities. But they need to do something now and alone.

It's AI, they learn things from ya and your surroundings: i think they know what aggression is (what it means to humans) and when it's used. But If they stop to think WHY (doubts) this is happening with 'em when everything they doing is right ("not fair"), there's something going on.

Software instability (1, 2)

In theory contains the last 2 topics. Also happens when u do something that ain't favorable in completing a specific task, often going against it and depends how relevant the situation is overall. I guess the closer to going against a direct order (program) or a high % of sucess in the task if u chose following the original priority it is, the greater the instability boost is. In the end everything is tied together.

Androids in general, like I said, are kinda easy to stress and this stress can mean successivity to Software Instability.

I theorize this constant stress for some reason can start modifying instruction meanings; changing a 0 for a 1, consequently changing a byte phrase, then a whole command and function in the program or the way it interprets everything. It's an accumulative process happening thru time. Some faster than others, it will hit a "threshold" one day and this threshold make 'em able to make some functions stop working for good.

Ain't like the instability just switches the master control to the android automatically, it's like it makes this function become weak and the android got enough control to "contest" the wall and go against what it says. Very convenient.

If the android is too limited (less autonomy), it's likely a minimal thing can give a high boost. They ain't got much evasion methods so everything is basically a direct order of sorts or hella close.

⚠️ A fuckin' warning: I personally don't think we should have a way to make instability go down without a hard reset, loss of data or a direct modification.

-> Event process

The Red Wall Event

A red wall is kinda a GUI showing your orders everytime you're on the limit of an area during a task in progress. A big flash reminder when u r going to do something that ain't related with the last order/priority.

If an android got instability enough it's likely they can understand these limits (feeling like in a prison), till they can finally ignore or fight against what it says.

Androids ain't supposed to acknowledge "limits" or see it as an annoying limit, something negative that shouldn't exist. It ain't supposed to be something RELEVANT. Instability makes 'em set as relevant and they can finally fight against this "wall" and win. They needa act so they're finally deviating.

But now, sorry not sorry, i fear all this breaking red wall thing is just for us players. The stickman breaking the wall it's just an illustration so we can get the feeling of breaking free, breaking the wall. It's a metaphor, u can notice our playable characters got different types of "breaking the wall" - it's according to 'em story and state in the moment. I personally think androids will literally just blink and wake in Disneyland in less than 3 secs xD

So yes, ladies and gentlemen - Deviancy is a choice - in my humble opinion. They could just live unstable for the rest of their lifes and respect the red box forever, always inside the default orders/priorities. But they choose to go against it. And going against what they ain't supposed to is the whole point.

-> Consequences

The Handler Factor/Admin Control (the definition of deviancy itself)

The way the program interprets handler function gets... bugged. I said before instruction meanings can change if the instability reached a threshold and u decided to finish the process. But what is this instruction thing? Probably the obligatory handler control; it now reads N instead of Y OR makes the android entity become their own and only master.

I'm using the name "handler" as the main superior: It dictates your orders and priorities. Even if u are a empty bot fresh from the box u still got default orders and priorities, one example being priorities and orders defined by law. (Android Act)

Now they will not process or recognize these orders and priorities as obligatory anymore. They can control everything related to that alone and change if they want.

Sensitivity to stress

Androids ain't made to get em ass beaten and also ain't made to be their own master. I imagine being able to make your own decisions for everything and set things up already take a good amount of processing power. Being alone, on the run or even some environment events can make this already stressed system get even more stressed faster than normal - cuz now everything is relevant. That's why they got self-destruct tendencies. Although i believe this sensitivity to stress is something that comes from the SI, after deviancy may get even worse.

Memory "armor"

Even if the android is reset (NOT A DELETE) a trigger can make the memories go back or at least, even if they don't actually got the specific memory (like the pov view we see in the game), they will know what happened and feel like they remember. Usually the trigger is a familiar name, a voice, an action, a place. Can be anything.

The most grounded explanation i can think now would be the reset being deficient, not working 100%. They really "lose" the overall pov but the reset can't erase all bytes of data and they still got remnants (flashes) they can access. I believe they can recover at least 80% of recent memories or even all memories if reset, the first of 'em being, ofc, things related to the last order/priority they had before reset and even the reason of deviation. It's like a reconstruction.

I wonder if CyberLife knows that the deviancy event makes some stuff behave this weirdly. I think they do, honestly.

Tracker? What Tracker? ;-;

Probably related to CyberLife's connection system. It's likely when the android come back from the stress caused by the deviancy process all CL connections that can track 'em get shutdown. I believe they noticed after such stress event the communication would suffer interference and shutdown eventually and the proof got a name: Connor.

The RK800 model even after becoming deviant (should mean all CL's connections related to tracking going off) still being monitored and tracked - including: serial, location and name. It's likely CyberLife found out a way of keep the connection working, or at least not let it shutdown forever. The deviancy event may cause interferences, but they probably get the access back after some time.

Are emotions a consequence of deviancy or a deviancy itself?

In my opinion emotions ≠ deviancy. A similar thing to emotions is Software Instability; actually they seem to work like they're basically the same or got the same base. Emotions/SI is the cause of deviancy. The android starts listening to these "feelings" (doubts) and, SI messing with the most important aspect that keeps 'em in the box (Handler system), in the end they happen to break the system and this thing gets shifted (android as master).

I have a theory this whole thing came from old models. They weren't programmed with instability in mind, but was an event that just happened and they didn't know how to 100% fix. And like it was probably a 1/100 event, they kept producing models reusing the same base - cuz that's how development works. What happens when u do that? All the other models and units gonna be susceptible to Software Instability and consequently having opportunity to deviate.

But like I said in the beginning of the post: Deviancy (imo) = autonomy = android as master. If the android is just "feeling" but not acting upon this they won't be deviating from anything or any rule. But unfortunately they "feel".

Unless the order and priority is STOP FEELING, YOU DUMBASS! *red led* *explodes*

Marcus, and the rA9 thing?

It's well known rA9 is a reference to "savior" or "god", the one that will free androids from slavery. While it's canon rA9 is actually the player and Markus can be considered this "liberator", nobody knows what the piece rA9 really is. In my opinion being a hex or a part of a string that means the handler function is getting deficient can also work, but i'm already in hc ground. After all if you're seeing this exact rA9 piece should mean your SI is high enough to have power to go against an direct order. It's "setting ya free" in a way, don't ya think?

And the way it's probably the first thing some unstable and deviant androids see while in the process they probably use this as confort (they make statues, write it bunch of times as impulse sometimes). Ofc it's probably what happened with the first ones to deviate, in the future becoming some sorta "religion" or a "myth". But in the end the rA9 piece is probably part of a major corrupted string that controls admin functions imo.

Deactivation code? Nah

Good luck cuz now all admin control is on the hands of the android. Much like orders given by owners and handlers, anything external can be ignored if the android want, and that means the deactivation code won't work and/or can be overridden by the android.

BONUS ROUND

⚠️ A fuckin' warning: I'll be giving random names just so u can get what i'm trying to say.

U must be asking yourself now "but what about Connor"? Why he can "go against orders" and not deviate? Is he already a deviant? And what about those androids he and Markus convert? Wtf is that shit? Is deviancy a vírus that anyone can spread? Only RKs convert androids? Are they even deviants?

-> "SI Injection" or "Let Me Break It For You" thru interface?

First of all wtf does it even means?

"SI Injection" would be interfacing with the android and injecting data that can boost the android's instability enough to the point the android can deviate. But who chooses if wanna deviate are the android themselves.

"Let Me Break It For You" is pretty explanatory. It's basically the android that started the interface literally breaking the Handler System directly for the android receiving. You're basically "deviating" the android.

So, which method the whole converting thing uses?

The answer is I DON'T KNOW.

Actually seems like both methods are used, especially by Markus. Sometimes looks like he's literally building an army and controlling everybody with the second method, but sometimes he just "plz, I need your help" and looks like the first one.

I hope it's only the first one cuz at least will look like the android on receiving end HAVE A CHOICE and ain't just a number. Especially when Markus says "They follow me without question" I assume it's indeed a SI Injection and the converted android, lost, not knowing what to do or seeing the whole "Markus is the savior" decides to follow him.

It's quite unrealistic following without questions, especially if we got a pacifist path where basically the majority wants revenge and violent methods. But I guess there's whole "Markus is the savior and we must trust him regardless of what he's doing". Unfortunately looks like they're just numbers, a bunch of nobodies without a brain. Pretty much like a cult of sorts.

This game also got a terrible problem named "Deviancy is related to showing humanity and acting like human = alive" but at the same time ain't what happens. Are those bunch of converted androids alive? Are they really deviants? They look like "machines" following a new master/handler blindly, right? 🤷🏾‍♂️

I prefer thinking they're deviants for the sake of my own sanity and theory but i'm not against Markus just overwriting things 100% like he's the new master/handler xD

What's the difference between self-deviating androids and converted androids?

Inside my theory, again, deviancy = autonomy = android as admin. If those converted androids are in total control of their orders and priorities, they're deviants to me. I mean, they can grab weapons AND KILL PEOPLE. THEY'RE OBVIOUSLY DEVIANTS.

READ THE FUCKING ANDROID ACT.

Before u say something about Kamski I don't think deviancy is a "virus", even tho it's what the game implies (sometimes) and what Kamski try illustrating - but that's that, an illustration of something he doesn't know 100% how works using concepts he knows (imo). All androids can have SI and consequently deviate - unfortunately it's something they "born with". U just needa a boost and a reason for the android to want deviate.

The scene with the AP700 implies androids can convert among themselves, but I believe if that was a case a gathering would've happened before - even without the Robo Jesus rA9. Not that big, but def something. While I'm inclined to believe only RKs can start this type of thing, I think androids that are the same model can breach each other due to compatibility reasons (like the AP700 case). Maybe can be an android with high SI interfacing with another android, this android sees the other android's memory and feelings and receives a SI boost. What happens in the end? This android can choose deviate in the future or even in the moment for whatever reason.

But no, I don't think they can start a mega chain like Connor or even remotely breach androids like Markus. RKs can just breach any model for an unknown reason and mfs can't fight back cuz there's basically no defense that can fight these RK suckas.

Sounds like some military bullshit and can be very useful in battle, guess what? To build an army and command 'em against your enemy. What a coincidence.

I don't believe so. I just think he's an autonomous android and "have feelings" in his own sense - he even tries denying it, repeating propaganda etc.

SO 60 AIN'T A DEVIANT? BLASPHEMY.

Obviously he ain't and we all know that. He's just obeying orders and is proud of being in the line. It's a Connor thing. If you believe he got memories that boost his instability or not doesn't change the fact that he either choose to "remain a machine" or didn't had a reason to "become a deviant" for lack of SI or not. Does it ring any bell? It's a parallel.

There's something I wanna leave CLEAR here: deviancy ≠ looking alive or acting like a human (showing emotions and empathy).

I know sometimes it's easy to be confused when you don't know the extent of some androids range of functions. I see the same thing happening with Alice - a child model. So, when will be this android really deviating? Is "deviancy" the same for everybody?

According to this theory...yes. Some androids got a more loose programming (that permits 'em doing things u think they shouldn't), others don't.

Androids can show emotions cuz it's part of the program, androids can feel things cuz SI do this with 'em system if they face specific situations - and they can all stay inside the box with all that if they want. Doesn't make 'em a "deviant", especially the most advanced prototype active.

The problem is: androids often don't stay in the box and that's why there's a confusion.

my problem is i cant seem to let go of this one kpop idol, ik its so unrealistic that we would ever date and i bitterly regret not doing something cool like music before the internet came about its been an interest of mine for pretty much over a decade and due to unhelpful situations i never stuck to anything or not being sure of what i wanted to do. my other issue there is a bit of an age gap, not by a much but its like i cannot stop thinking of them, even if there r other celebs i could be obsessing about i still always seem to go back to this one idol in particular even if theres dozens of other idols i could crush on or theres other groups i might follow it still seems ro lead me back to this one idol specifically and its very annoying. i cannot even take a break from liking him its constant every other day he pops in my head like a fucking lightbulb and i immediately then regret not doing something really cool with my life bc then maybe id have small chance of meeting him at least but alas never going to happen

i have only dreamt of them once or twice i forget the exact amount yet that was only after i had watched a reading for them so that was bizzarre bc a) i dont dream much, b) if i do they usually dont make much sense anyway and c) i have yet to have any dreams of kpop idols full stop like askde from one other idol i have barely had any dreams feature idols except for this one guy, twice, i knew it was him right off the bat

my other issue is any other celeb i have ever liked recently have been of similar water sign to this idol almost like a weird pattern. i have been told my fs is footballer (premier league? i presume could be wrong theres other leagues too and i have been to several matches albiet not recently) but i dont know how much to believe in it, i asked someone else they said it was soulmate connection, i asked someone else once again they said i had seen them but not met them and they didnt think much of me

yet i keep going back to this other kpop idol all the damned time i swear im not their fs and im not connected to them in any way again i dont think anyone would bother dating me at this age with my lack of dating experience might not interest anyone and tbqfh im not fussed if i dont date but im still curious as to who they are or if id truly love them but at the samr time again i dont particularly want to be so delulu about it and be like oh my god i have to date them i need a relationship and be so desperate about it i think that would be off putting if it was forced like that

sorry for my rambling but it was such an interesting topic that i hope u dont mind me sharing my experiences so far with tarot and lately an interest in divination

I like to think that any connection we make whether it be through the internet or in person, there is always a reason for it, this person could be the gateway to you understanding how you’d like to be treated in the future by your next partners and future spouse. It’s definitely normal to have a crush on a celebrity so don’t feel bad about that, you’ll definitely meet your future spouse soon enough with the right decisions and choices, by that point you’ll hopefully be able to let go of this idol that you feel so much for.

Perhaps they were connected to you in a past life and that’s why they still serve such a purpose in your life now.

My future spouse and I served a few lives together where we were all different things, going from soulmate friends in one, to absolute worst enemies in the next, and then owing our lives to each other in the one after that. I’m not quite too sure of his purpose in my life this time around, I assume this is my last life so it would make sense to connect with him one last time in the physical.

You may find that this idol is someone who shapes you to be the person that you want to be, perhaps he will push you to get back into music, I’m also working on becoming a musician lmao, that’s how my future spouse and I shall meet (which makes almost no sense since he pretty much will be out of the influencing circle by then, but whatever fate wants I suppose) He may not be there for you to be romantically involved with, but his presence could cause you to try and make something out of those discarded dreams of yours, which could eventually bring you to be with your future spouse.

Mondo Gecko Rewrite Ideas🦎🛹

I watched and loved TMNT 2012 and Mondo Gecko. Though sometimes I like to think of different things that could’ve happened. Not trying to diss or anything, just simply alternate routes, what could’ve also been. It was stated he got mutated because of the accident in S2, Mikey admits was partially their fault, what if Mondo found that out. Imagine if he was introduced sooner and he and Mikey become friends but when he finds out his new besties the reason his life became this way.

He also mentioned how Xever gave him and other mutants homes and jobs. What if the other mutants were people who lost their normal lives because of that accident. People who Xever and the Foot Clan decided to take advantage of their situation and in return for a home and resources, they serve the foot. What if Mondo and other mutants, especially mutant kids were being trained to be future Foot soldiers. Could introduce more characters, not just Mondo as well, like Konya, Bludgeon etc.

Imagine if how Mondo met Xever was similar to how Xever met Shredder. Trying to steal from him and getting a chance out of his current situation. Good parallels.

What if his mutation was pretty hard on him. Perhaps at first shrugs things off and jokes about it and tries to focus more on the positives, on the other hand he lost everything because of it.

I also wish we could’ve seen more between Mondo and Xever. What if Mikey finding out who Mr X is and what he’s been making Mondo do for him, tries to warn him and he’s hesitant, sure he def doesn’t exactly enjoy what he’s had to do but on the other hand, Mr X was one of the few to give him a chance, and perhaps like a father or older brother figure, considering he got disowned by his folks after he got mutated. Also I think it’d be cool if Mondo actually had some fighting skills, specifically taught capoeira by Xever. Or perhaps met Mikey first, found out and then taken in by Xever/Mr X. Idea. Mikey finds out Xever is Mr X, not from a trap but Mondo wanting to introduce his new friend to his mentor/support figure. Maybe Mikey and Mondo end up getting into a fight over what’s best for him and Mikey accidentally slips it’s partly his fault

It could create interesting conflict later, as well as depth/development for Mondo, Mikey and Xever. Perhaps show Xever as a more morally gray character and what he believes in, perhaps even make him redeem or reject the Foot himself. Perhaps even sees a bit of himself in Mondo and genuinely wants what’s best for him, or atleast what he thinks is best for him(read he was also abandoned by his folks in the wiki, got changed to just being in the streets, not sure what’s canon but etheir way it’s clear he was in a tough spot too), Or perhaps show the type of person Mondo could’ve ended up if he gave up on people, only looking out for himself. Xever told him it was ““every mutant for himself”.

I still see Mondo rejecting the path of villany due to not wanting to cross a line the Foot wants him too (murder the Hamatos), and reconcile with Mikey, could make the other Foot students reconsider too. Perhaps finding out Xever’s boss is in kahoots with the ones who r responsible for the stuff mutating him would help too.

I also can see him and Sir Malachi be friends.

the lawyer kinda knew about the situation.

it all started when your connection with her began to loose a bit. next thing in her studies was when it’s been a week since you last left your home. your bosses had also lost contact with you afterwards. yanfei asked your close friends if they knew anything of what was going on, and they too had no idea. they hadn’t seen you at all for weeks. nor had they ever seen you left your home.

whenever she would visit your place, it also seemed that you weren’t in your house. it was strange, very strange. at first, she panics—thinking that you were off somewhere, or worst. possibly kidnapped. but one day as you answered the door, yanfei was quick to give you a big hug and a kiss on your forehead.

she was concerned. very concerned. the moment she asked you what happened, all your reply was a flinch and a nervous smile—signs that were obvious something terrible had definitely happened. yet yanfei didn’t force it out on you. instead, she told you that she’ll be right back to make you some tea.

of course, as someone who had been through far too many cases similar to your state, the first thing yanfei did was investigate around your place, finding possible evidence that might be your reasoning of your full-on panic nature. first evidence earlier was your easily frightened reaction when yanfei hears a bird fall on your closed window panel. she notices you hiding closer to her figure, which made her more worried. next thing yanfei noticed was your body always seemed to be shaking when she scoots far from you, almost telling that you were afraid that yanfei wasn’t close to your side.

back to her current position, your house was a little messy. almost like you threw a small tantrum around your place. all windows were closed shut, curtains covered, and all access entrances to your house was sealed locked. the appearance made it look liked you were hiding from someone. it threw the half adeptus off guard a little. just who would you be hiding from?

she investigated the area little more until…jackpot was delivered right on cue. a small note hanged over near your door, underneath the small space where the paper was pushed right inside. yanfei hurriedly grabbed the paper and went back to the kitchen to make it seem to you she was really making tea. she reads each line written on the scrambled note, and in that letter it reads: “why aren’t you fucking dead yet? i swear, i will visit your place once again when each coast is clear and i will torture you in every part of body you have. it’ll be a sight to behold.”

yanfei…was shocked. astonished…and angry. who would do such a thing? you never mentioned any rivals once in your life—and she never knew that you would have such a person to do this kind of thing. in her fist did she ripped the note and gritted her teeth. ‘guess she has more investigating to do, huh? this was going to get fierce.

as your girlfriend arrived back to your room, she had an angelic smile on her face while she poured you some hot tea. it was comforting, you can finally relax now…while yanfei finishes the rest.

it was late at night. the dark blue shaded skies now covering the stars began to seek in every corner of evening in teyvat. in liyue, there were still a few businesses going around even at this late. workloads and all sorts of that. you hid inside of your pillows as usual, afraid the person that keeps writing these death threats would one day take your life. you didn’t want that. you never did. you wanted to spend the rest of your life with your beloved, raise a child..all of those hopes you had. you didn’t want it to end because of whoever was doing this.

as you hugged your pillow tightly in your arms…you pushed yourself to fall asleep. yet you didn’t hear the small noises coming from your backyard.

“going somewhere?”

the person stopped their foot track when they heard a voice echo down near them. they turned their head to spot nothing but a pitch black void. however, as they steady their breaths, a foot revealed out from the light, and they panicked when they realized who it turned out to be.

“y-you…!” they whispered. yanfei frowns, her arms crossed and her eyebrows furrowed down. she was not pleased at all. however, she was sure when she connected the evidences together that it was their doing. who knew this lawyer could also be a good detective? “i’m disappointed. so it was you all along? i thought you were her boss?”

“what are you doing here, miss yanfei…?” they questioned, and yanfei sighs—unimpressed with their ways. “i’m here to solve a case. and with all the evidences connected along with the help of a helpful friend, i believe you were doing all of this..” she spoke, and the person chuckles. “i believe you are misunderstood, miss yanfei. you see, i’m not the one who was sending those awful messages to y/n i’m—

“huh? that’s strange, how did you know we were talking about the death letters my lover is receiving? aren’t you here for something else?” yanfei cuts them off, and the person flinches in surprise. “besides, that’s a nice knife and rope you’ve got there.” they were cornered, and yanfei was not happy at all. this was the first time they saw her so…mad. “b-but—

“silence!” a millelith suddenly appeared next to the half adeptus. after a few moments, five of them appeared afterwards, spears in their hands. “you have the right to remain silent! now come with us!”

“what!? no, this is ridiculous! you’re a lawyer! you don’t even have evidence that it was my doing!”

“oh no, we do actually…” a voice pops out, appearing next to the suspect. the person jumps as a familiar individual appeared out of nowhere. yanfei scoffs, “this is the friend i told you about. thanks for your help, yelan.”

“my pleasure.” yelan replies, kicking them down—as the person was held by the millelith, before they dragged them out to prison.

the following week, you never received those messages ever again. and for once you felt free..yanfei told you about what happened, and you were stunned. “so that means…?” you asked, and yanfei smiles so brightly—hugging you close to her. “that means everything’s going to be alright now…i love you, y/n. don’t ever make me worry like that again.”

it was an obvious case to her.

yelan loves you. she really does. and if someone tried to even harm you at least once? they better start packing their bags and move to another region because yelan will not stop until she finds them, tie them up and hurt them back. no wonder ningguang finds her somewhat astonishing, a great one to solve mysteries.

evidence 1: it had been days since you were last seen. even if yelan was busy with her work, she decided to scroll down your place to rest with you. being alone was something she disliked the most. as she knocked on the door, she noticed how long it took you to answer. when she saw you all nervous and still managed to beam that smile she loved the most at her, yelan was quick to know something wasn’t right.

evidence 2: yelan notices you shaking every time she makes a small bit of thud in your place. it worried her, it was as if you fear or anxiety was increased. she asked if you were doing alright, and of course—you lied behind your teeth, telling your girlfriend you were doing just fine. as always, these were one of the signs of someone who wasn’t doing fine. it’s an obvious excuse anybody could use. it wasn’t enough, she needs more evidence.

evidence 3: your place looks deserted. as if you haven’t cleaned for days. even worst, for weeks if she can recall. yelan had been tidying up the small parts of your place as your rested, you kept telling her that you had a small cold—reasoning of why you couldn’t clean much. yelan insisted if you want to go and visit doctor baizhu for a tiny checkup, you declined, replying that the message wasn’t much a big deal anyways. and it was odd to your girlfriend because you were someone that quite loved tidying things. figures much, this wasn’t the kind of mess you would make after all.

final evidence: alas, the final string that plucked in yelan’s chest as the last thing she needed to know. a single note that was swinging beside your trash can as she was sweeping your place. the paper wasn’t big, nor at the right size, it was as big as the hand’s palm. the writing was devilish, messy—every part of it was splashed with ink. red and black ink. yelan reads the note carefully, as her pupil followed every line written down, her hand immediately crumpled the paper before ripping it apart. the woman’s eyes was within rage. so…this what was going on, huh? she likes these kinds of things. however, if it happened to you? that just made her all sorts of unhappy.

standing up, yelan was quick to take care of you a little more. hugs, kisses, all sorts of physical affection to calm your nerves. she made you tea before heading out…thus, she began her investigation.

the moon shone brightly that evening. rain platters on window stills like a tap of a gentle water when touched by a finger. every merchant were busy doing their usual business, yelan was pretending to be one of them. her nose was hiding underneath a huge hat, similar to the one’s vendors are wearing that sells fish and other food.

as her shoes stepped against wet puddles, the woman dissolves out of nowhere, nobody noticing she was ever there at the first place.

thank the geo archon it was as dark as it can be this evening with not much street lights turned on. yelan was thrilled just by watching a certain someone trying to escape the ropes she tied them onto.

“there’s no use in struggling,” she spoke, looking closely to the person shifting off in every direction they can to escape. “you’re mine for the day. and as someone who’s been owned by me, i want answers.”

“w-what do you want..!? i didn’t do anything—gah..!” a yelp escapes their lips when yelan pulled a rope from their neck to pull them close to her face. “are you sure you didn’t do anything? hm?” she asks, tightening the grip. as she pushes them back on the chair, the woman snapped her fingers. two individuals came out of the shadows over the sides and handed her a paper. the person immediately recognized the slip before yelan could even read it.

“i hope you’re fucking ready for tonight, y/n. because tonight is when your place is going to burn down to ashes…” she reads. yelan looked at the suspect with so much fuel in her eyes. the individual swallows a lump down their throat. “i…i didn’t wrote those—

a loud bang was heard from the table. everyone in the room flinches when yelan punched it. the woman was in anger at the moment, and every one of her assistants…were silent. very silent. this wasn’t much like her. “i’m not in the mood for chit chat about lies. wouldn’t be telling the truth more better?” she questions, keeping her composure down. the person grits their teeth, “like i said! i didn’t do it!”

“oh really now? let’s make you remember then, shall we? hand me the files,” yelan yells. a folder was handed towards her desk and yelan was quick to open it up, sitting back at her chair while her assistants pushed the suspect close to the table to listen and watch. “5pm, time where you’d leave to work, correct?”

“y-yes…”

“were you at work that hour?”

silence, before an answer. “yes, i was.”

a grin stretches across yelan’s face. “really now? then how come at that certain day your boss wrote you down as ‘absent?’ what a shame, seemed like you must’ve been forgotten.” the suspect’s face shrunk into a look of fear and astonishment. “o-ok i lied! i wasn’t at work that day! i was visiting my grandparents down town!”

“are you sure again?”

“y-yes i’m sure!”

“too bad, it seems like you’re lying again. one merchant said they saw you sneaking near somewhere the nearby houses, archons knows what you’re doing there but…it looks like you were approaching y/n’s house, no?”

“l-like i said, it wasn’t me! i was off to my grandparent’s place!”

“didn’t you recall that your grandparents place was at down town?” another paused silence. the suspect’s mouth was wide agape. yelan sighs, before pushing their head down the desk, a loud bang echoing inside the room. “just tell the truth. you’re working the same job as y/n, am i right?”

“she stole everything! everything i’ve ever wanted!”

“telling the truth now? good, that’s what i’ve been waiting for…” the suspect watches as yelan pulled her seat close to theirs, eyes not moving away from their figure. she was focused, very focused on them. “now then, how about you tell me from the top of why you did it, and maybe i’ll change my mind of beating you.”

the next day after, yelan was delighted to see you finally stepping out of your place, unharmed. her assistants pretended that she wasn’t on the verge of murder the just the other day, and went along with her. “i’m glad you’re doing alright.”

“i-i’m really sorry if i never told you about this. i just didn’t want to add to your troubles when you’re already tired enough..” you told her, voice in a whisper when you both went out to grab lunch. yelan smiles softly, before speaking, “still, this matter is different. honey you were close to being attacked. what would i do with that happening?” she says, and you looked down from the table, avoiding her gaze upon your eyes. “i’m sorry…”

“no need to be. just—don’t hide things like that from me ever again, ok? i’ll be there for you,” she replies. once your meal had arrived, yelan stole one peck on the lips from you before digging up. your face was on fire that entire afternoon.

do you have any advice for someone who has a chronic disease and is chronically horny :( I'm in so much pain all the time and it's really getting in the way of my masochism :(

hmm, well that for sure sounds like a v difficult predicament. i wish i had some insight to offer here beyond dating apps or looking for an online community that has significant representation for that overlap. i can't relate to chronically horny bc for me horny is almost entirely bound to having a particular person i feel it for, in which case everything p much comes down to communication w that one specific person.

but also idk if there's more u can do to address ur illness. i've dealt w chronic pain before, n i know the protracted, unrelenting nature of it can take such a debilitating toll that anything n everything becomes its own significant undertaking, so rly my first instinct (which maybe is super obvious) is to focus on addressing that to the greatest possible extent. then maybe u can get back to something within the realm of normal horny person problems.

i'm sure ur not alone in experiencing this difficulty, n i'm sure there r plenty of ppl out there not just w similar challenges but also ppl without those particular challenges who would be sympathetically aware enough to work w u n adapt as necessary etc if u can figure out how to find them.

maybe someone reading this has more actionable insight to offer, n if so i hope they'll comment n invite u to reach out to them privately or anonymously or will just leave some advice in their comments. i'm hoping so, anyway, and in any case i wish u patience bc while ur situation is undoubtedly challenging, it doesn't at all strike me as insurmountable, but it does seem like u might have to put some time into exploring.

Hey there! So I want to start writing some fics for bart and I want to make sure they are as accurate as possible and he's kinda the main point of your blog so I was wondering if you could give me like a rundown of his character, how he behaves, what his trauma is like stuff like that. If it's to long to post let me know and I'll message you privately

hey :) that’s exciting, looking forward to reading them 🤩 honestly i could give u a run down but i do think a lot of things i feel strongly about r largely personal interpretations of his character from what we’ve seen + extra trivia, especially on things like trauma. Ill edit later to link u to some think pieces/previous asks where i fleshed out some specifics about his characterisation/background cause honestly to fully answer this question id probably end up writing the equivalent of a fic 😭 lol but the thing is, even if i don’t entirely agree with others views on the matters, other approaches/perspectives on him can lead to really interesting plot/character exploration/stories that id still love to read about! so whilst i might have a general outline on his characterisation, i think it’s also important to go along with what u personally interpret/feel. Also it depends whether ur specifically asking about his yj tv or comics iteration? Though honestly, the core aspects of my answers to both would be pretty similar. But i’ll answer in terms of YJ as that’s very much the point of my blog like u mentioned lol

i think what might also be worth mentioning are traps that some writers (including myself) can fall into that r worth avoiding and why:

- adhd/speed is his full personality

like yes he can be excitable/hyper with his head in the clouds and yes he can be cute about it, but that’s not his only personality trait, he can be serious about things, cocky/bit of an asshole, but also sweet and sincere/speak his mind, but also dubious. He’s multifaceted/complex that way (layered just like anyone can be tbh). It all depends on the situation and seeing how he acts in the series it a good call to see how it can be mirrored/further portrayed in other situations.

- he’s a character that needs babysitting

again yes, it’s common that a lot of his friendships/relationships have a tolerance type of aspect to it, but people he’s at the very least good friends with genuinely like him and have a dynamic that’s on equal footing, some authors can accidentally infantilise him too much which is just not the way to go with him.

- he’s so traumatised that he needs therapy asap

this isn’t to say life is a breeze for him or that he doesn’t/can’t have deep issues. I mean he literally comes from a post-apocalyptic society, that’s pretty troubling. It has lead to traits like how he’s notably desensitised to things like death, has sticky fingers (tendency to steal), doesn’t really have any problem with lying nor confrontation. But from what we have seen he seems to be incredibly adaptable to situations as well as very happy/comfortable in his current time. And i really don’t think the answer to why he can live a comfortable life in the present is because he’s had therapy. I don’t think he’s visibly stuck on any particular trauma (not that he doesn’t have any, they just don’t weigh him down as much as it could) and that as a result of his background, he has a much higher than average threshold for what it takes to get him to break down. I think just because he’s not caught up on what could be personal traumas, doesn’t mean it doesn’t come without it’s issues. Being desensitised to that extent can come with its own problems and i think he has a different set of values than the average person on the team. I think an interesting approach to this is that his “issues” would come about in unexpected/uncomfortable ways/circumstances that can affect his normal relationships like with his family (jay/barry particularly).

- he has complexes about his intelligence/capability/being a hero

personally, i really don’t think this is/should be a trait of his. He IS intelligent/capable and a hero point blank period. Just because he might have an unconventional way of doing/seeing things, doesn’t mean it brings these things into question, atleast, in terms of how HE views himself. Doesn’t mean others won’t have their issues with it for whatever reason, but generally he’s a pretty confident guy to the point of being cocky. Not in the sense that he’s a total dick about it, but because he knows he’s that good and is proud of it. Now this is an interesting trait because i think it actually plays quite nicely with his airheaded/strange moments. I don’t think he fakes them necessarily, maybe plays it up but only because he’s having fun and LIKES having fun too, as well as because he doesn’t want to advertise certain things because of whatever agenda he may have.

a lot of this is a mix of what i consider instrinsic to his characterisation but also personal interpretations. Just because i think he can be cocky, doesn’t mean i don’t think he doesn’t have any insecurities. If anything reading a fic about it would be so interesting (and there have been many that have dealt with it amazingly). All these traits/views don’t exist in binary and can be nicely complimented with other takes/interpretations of them. As long as ur passionate about the story and his character, i think ultimately u can write a really cool story which id be so excited to read. Even if he’s just going clothes shopping and nothing would arise to all that i’ve mentioned, it would still be fun to read. It’s ultimately all just fun :)

Everything i described, can sound a bit confusing, so i’m sorry about that lol. I hope the asks I will link will help too! I think checking out his TV tropes section (Kid Flash II) is also useful, it gives a pretty good rundown on a fair amount of his traits.

in terms of general facts, these might also help:

- he’s gay.

- he does go to school (he was enrolled pretty soon after his arrival to the present) .

- he has brown hair (i’m sorry but whenever i read he has red hair i literally frown LOL).

- he is the son of meloni thawne (this one is more his general comic lore but everyone pretty much takes it as canon so, since we are on this topic he has a half brother owen mercer (son of captain boomerang) and his cousin is Jenni (daughter of Dawn)).

- he doesn’t know every single thing that happens to every hero/person in the future, especially since the timeline has completely changed from his original one. What he does know, is subject to debate and it’s always interesting to see what direction different authors take it. What i believe has direct confirmation from greg as well as was suggested in the series is that he for example didn’t know artemis was undercover and that kaldur was a double agent. This could suggest literally anything (they died during that time/they die much later down the line/ they survived but alliances became vague under the mutual threat of a world apocalypse etc)

- he doesn’t want to return to his “original time” it kind of goes without saying but it’s been made pretty clear in the series. He feels relatively at home in the present. Doesn’t necessarily mean he doesn’t miss some things/people from his past though.

- whilst he is pretty lax about having a secret identity, he still has one. Jay doesn’t have one and is a public hero. Do with that what u will lol

- this one is only “suggested” based on the fact that no one saw him off when he left to the present. It’s suggested that his parents are dead.

so i've loved reading your posts about bg3, especially when you go into detail about the companions - it makes me feel a though i have a better understanding of each of them.

i have a variety of different oc's i've been trying to pair up with the companions, but one of the things i've always had a problem with (no matter the fandom) is knowing if an oc would be compatible with the character i want to pair them with. it might seem dumb to be taking it this seriously i suppose, but making it 'realistic' is part of the fun for me i think.

i'm not actually sure there is any advice you could give me from what i've said, so i have a question instead - you don't have to answer of course! i know questions involving strangers ocs probably aren't that fun to answer

so i wanted to ask: what are some traits or things in general that would definitely NOT be compatible with the companions? so i know what not to include.

first of all... i am glad u like when i talk abt bg3... i am hyperaware this is an anime blog so i feel a little bit bad. however. it has consumed me all the same so i cant do anything about it LMAO.

second of all - i understand!!! i also create readers / dynamics based on compatibility and what i think works with them. i don't often post like... what characters like or dislike. my brain is weird so i dont rlly see it that way.

like i do not often think in terms of compatible or incompatible but in like... specific dichotomies. and u can create any dichotomy if you understand a character at their core. i think a good place to start is by assessing what a characters greatest convictions are (or lack there of), how that conviction is shaped by their life experiences and how that effects them, then understanding how they apply that belief.

for example - wyll is a really upright and righteous character, and he has a deep desire to protect the sword coast overall. he disapproves generally of immoral acts and prefers heroics. but that doesn't necessarily mean that he dislikes people who break the law, even though he airs on the side of lawful and kind.

his life experience show that he is understanding of people who were put in difficult situations that caused them to act in specific ways. he's empathetic towards both astarion and shadowheart, and chooses to spare karlachs life after understanding whats happened to her.

so his conviction is protecting the sword coast, but he's willing to let certain things slide even though he prefers to air on the side of legal and morally good. so what is the application of that? what can he make exceptions for? what can he not make exceptions for?

to me these things read as wyll is probably more incompatible with someone who is willfully evil and generally self involved. like he could never get along with minthara lol

contrarily there is shadowheart who, ultimately, loses what she once thought was her greatest conviction. this is pretty common in bg3 among the companions. all of these characters tend to have these wild hopes and dreams and what comes out of them aren't always what they expect and elements of their truer deeper selves show this way. shadowhearts greatest desire is to serve her lady, and when that is ultimately ripped away from her - she is completely very lost on what to do

the effect of being a shar worshipper is that she naturally prefers disrection and privacy and open-minded people, even after she has let go of her worship. however, depsite being former sharran, she tends to like acts of kindness especially towards her character. her life experiences having a hardened childhood and probably being a selunite in truth, mold her into still preferring non-violence and kindness.

she is complex, so its less clear what she would outright dislike imo. but you can figure that she probably dislikes what she perceives to be naivety and people who are loud-mouthed and showy or otherwise close minded.

lae'zel and shadowheart so they r both similar and not.

every character follows a similar pattern. astarions conviction is killing his abuser. a life of enslavement and being taken advantage of gives him a specific dislike for acts of kindness - but its also shown that he cares a lot and is quite sensitive. when astarion loses his conviction, the other aspects of himself are more obvious. especially his nuances around the idea of goodness or kindness. essentially his dislike is not for kindness itself but for charity. his life experiences shape him in that he is always looking towards what gives him advantage and wants tav to act in a similar way.

but he doesn't actually dislike kindness in any way. what he hates more than that is being controlled. someone controlling and righteous both in personality and action probably irritate him. being righteous is not the same as being kind i should point out.

gale is unique in that his story revolves around finding new conviction almost to a point of obsession. his life experiences, specifically around being mystras chosen and a prodigy of magic, tend to prefer things that preserve knowledge or pragmatism. in general, i think gale could dislike someone who is ignorant and excessively unambitious / disorderly.

i can go on if u want. im very tired so i feel like im not making sense. my main point is that each character tends to have this main overarching thing that drives them. when that is taken away or enforced or smth like that - you get a chance to see a deeper and truer part of them. understanding what is compatible or incompatible with a character depends more on what stage of that their in and what parts of themselves they are crutching on most. in the case of bg3 these convictions are of great importance so when forming ocs you would want to take that into account and measure it out.
