Ohh for a drabble, maybe one for the fnaf movie universe where the golden freddy kid (calling him Cassidy) and mike actually start to bond with each other, and Cass slowly opens up to Mike too, and gets a tad bit more friendly with Mike.
The building is cold. Even in the middle of summer, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria always manages to carry a frigid air. Michael Schmidt pulls his unzipped hoodie closer around his chest and huffs.
He's here for something. Again. He can't seem to tear himself away. Something exists within these walls. Not something that he wants, but something that wants him.
He's seen that little blonde boy again when he closes his eyes. That blonde boy he knows near nothing about. That boy who never explained himself to him. First he wanted Abby.
Now he wants Mike.
"Hey," Mike calls. "Uh, li... little boy?"
He has no idea how to address the kid. Christ. He sounds like a damn idiot.
"Hey, kid, I'm here," He says again, trying to sound less like an idiot than he feels. "You wanted to see me?"
A wail of pain echoes through the dilapidated halls. Something tells Mike it's not the voice of a child.
"Y- you wanted to see me," Mike repeats. His voice wavers with fear, and he clears his throat. "You wanted to see me. Didn't you? That's why you kept appearing in my dreams. Well, I-I'm here now."
The boy is shaking when he sees him. Fists clenched, jaw tight, he stares at Mike, trembling with suppressed tension, and his glare is piercing, violent. Mike prepares himself to run.
And yet, surprisingly, when he takes a step forward, the little boy flinches like he's the one in danger. He scurries back, positioning himself defensively.
"Woah, hey." Mike raises a hand. "I'm not gonna hurt you. You brought me here, and I need you to tell me why, okay?"
The boy scans him unsurely, then relaxes his stance.
Mike takes another step toward him, and then the boy sprints away.
"Come on, you-!" Mike huffs, not even sure what else to say, and begins to run after him.
For a second, he convinces himself he's dreaming. It's another version of the dream of Garret and Vanessa's father, the children's thoughts infiltrating his subconscious again. He'll run after the boy, and then he'll lose his footing somehow and be left back in reality with no idea what it means.
He does lose his footing when the boy comes to an abrupt stop, but surprisingly, manages to catch himself. The ice-cold wall is a good reminder that none of this is imaginary.
The door to the back room is open. The room that hosts that creepy Ella doll- the one that almost killed Abby. He still doesn’t understand how the kids could think this fate was worth condemning a friend to because they loved her.
Inside the room is the yellow rabbit suit. It twitches.
“This is…” Mike can’t even find words. It’s his brother’s murderer. Vanessa’s abusive father. The man who put all of these kids through this hell.
“He’s not dead,” The boy hisses.
“Huh?”
“He’s not. Dead.” He glares, annoyed. “Can’t you hear, dummy? He’s alive. Hit him. He’ll scream.”
“How is that possible?”
“I don’t know,” The boy insists. “Hit him. He’ll feel it.”
Mike scans the room. He totally could. That man killed Garrett. Nearly took both of his sisters. Destroyed the lives of all of these children. And he got away with it for so fucking long. So long that Mike spent thirteen years reliving that moment desperately trying to understand his crime.
Mike could hit him- jam the broken broom into his stomach and hear him scream. Just like he had when he entered. That was… him, screaming in pain.
Instead, he turns away. Escapes. Runs. He's back in the dining area by the time the boy appears again.
“Have you just been… torturing him this whole time?” Mike asks.
“He deserves it,” The boy retorts. “He killed your brother. He destroyed everything.”
Mike scans the boy.
“Why are you still here? Isn’t it time to move on like your friends did?”
“They don’t get it,” He says finally. “They let themselves forget what they had. But you didn’t. So why do you want to move on anyway?”
Mike's eyes are still trained on him. This kid... scares the shit out of him. But he's a kid, and he's suffering. Mike owes him a little decency.
"Because there are things waiting for us if we move on."
"Maybe for you. You still have Abby. You have his daughter. But I have nothing. And I had a family too, you know." The kid scowls. "All of us did. So he should be punished."
Mike's gaze softens.
God, he wants to punish that man. He wants to tear into him. Make him fucking suffer for what he did to Garrett. But none of it will bring his brother back. He focuses on the child in front of him.
"Why are you showing me this?" He asks gently.
"Because I know you understand."

Discreet Not Detached
Pairing: Harvey Specter x Fem!Reader
Word count: 1,397
Warnings: None, really.
Summary: Mike goes to Harvey's apartment to deliver some files only to be proved wrong about his boss being a lonely workaholic.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the show Suits, or its characters, also not associated with it in any way, or know anyone involved with it.
A/N: My first Harvey fic in a while, I had the idea based on an episode (I don't remember exactly which) and tried to elucidate to it here. Anyways, I hope it doesn’t suck and feedback is appreciated as usual!
(y/n) = (your name) (y/l/n) = (your last name) (y/n/n) = (your nickname)

Tumblr media
Another day in the office, another drama for Harvey Specter: this time it was his associate, Mike Ross, wanting to tell his girlfriend the whole truth about the terms of his employment and Harvey couldn’t let him do it, for obvious reasons. But, as you’d expect, namecallings happened and it all ended with Mike throwing in Harvey’s face his being an alleged workaholic in lack of a personal 一 and, in this case, love 一 life. Emphasis on alleged, cause what Mike didn’t know was that his boss actually did have someone to go home to…
It had been a long day but at least you got to go home to your excentric puddle of comfort of a boyfriend: New York City’s best closer, Harvey Specter. Once you got to your place, where the two of you lived together, you were welcomed with the smell and the view of a freshly cooked dinner that Harvey probably had someone making for the two of you.
As you started taking off your coat and shoes by the door, Harvey came out of your shared bedroom wearing nothing but sweatpants and looking like he’d just taken a shower. “Oh, hey, honey!” He greeted you with a smile on his face. “Sorry I didn’t wait for you to shower but I mingled too much with people of dubious hygiene today, so I kinda really needed to get clean.”
“Ah, that’s okay,” you said while pouting cutely at the same time. “At least dinner is ready, 'cause I am starving!”
“Ha! You say it like it’s cutting-edge news!” He tells you, as he puts on a shirt 一 much to your disappointment.
“What is that supposed to mean?!” You ask feigning offense while putting away your bag, shoes, and coat.
“It means that you’re always starving, sweetheart,” Harvey answers nonchalantly like it’s nothing.
“That is not true! Or at least it’s not entirely true: I’m always starving if it’s past mealtime and I haven’t eaten!”
“Sure, whatever you say, baby!” He says it already knowing that your hunger and all the pet names will only soften you.
“You know what? After today I don’t even have the energy to bicker with you…”
“That bad, huh?”
“The ED was a complete chaos today, apparently all hospitals were swamped, which is why they called more surgeons downstairs to help out. I’ve been on my feet the entire day! I’m basically dead.”
“Dramatic… But I’m sorry you had a shitty day, baby.” He said coming to hug you from behind in your bathroom. Looking at your reflex in the mirror 一 both of you, together like that 一 filled your heart with love and your mind with peace. Harvey was definitely your happy place.
Some time later, after you’d had your dinner, gotten ready for bed, and watched a sappy rom-com you chose, you and Harvey were already cuddling, almost asleep when you heard insistent knocking on the door.
“Stay here, honey, I’ll go see what that’s all about.” You sorta heard Harvey say to you as you lost your personal space heater.
Out in the living, Harvey opened the door only to find his associate Mike Ross standing there looking all tired and disheveled. Before his boss could even say anything, he went ahead entering the apartment mumbling about the case they were currently addressing in the office.
“Harvey, you’re not gonna believe what I found about our not-so-innocent school teacher!” He said to the older man with such energy that sounded like he had had a few too many energetics.
“What the hell, Mike?! Why are you showing up on my doorstep this late at night?”
“Because I knew you’d wanna see this as soon as possible, besides, it’s not like you’d have anything important going here, would you?” Mike asked sorta mocking Harvey.
Ignoring his employee’s last comment, he took the papers Mike was offering and said: “This better be good, Ross, otherwise you’re gonna meet a whole different side of me.
As Harvey started reading all the documents, Mike started having a look around, cause when would he have another chance at taking a peek at his boss’s house like that again? And he couldn’t believe what his eyes were seeing, he would definitely be making a few thousand jokes about it in the near future: there was a romance novel lying on the table, one of those with drawings on the cover that were becoming so popular then.
“Oh my God, Harvey, when were you gonna tell me about your love for reading?” He asked while pointing at the book with his head.
As Harvey’s eyes emerged from the papers in his hands with a confused look to them, Mike continued: “You know you could have told me, in fact after seeing the kinda genre you like I might actually ask for some recommendations, you know, to get my grandmother a few as presents.” The younger man said already starting to laugh loudly.
“That’s not mine…” Harvey began to answer with his mind still on the documents at hand.
“Oh no? You know there’s no need to lie to me, I promise I’ll try not to judge!”
“Funny. But that’s actually-”
“Mine!” You said as you came out of the bedroom wearing nothing but one of Harvey’s expensive dress shirts. “I don’t think we’ve met yet!” You exclaimed, already extending your hand to shake Mike’s. “I’m (y/n), Harvey’s girlfriend.”
“Girl- g- girlfriend?” Mike looked so shocked he almost choked on his laughter.
“Yes, but it’s doctor (y/l/n) for you.” He answered instinctively moving to your side. “What are you doing out of bed, sweetheart?”
“Sweetheart?” Mike murmured to himself in disbelief of the version of Harvey he was seeing, especially after their argument in the office and the things he’d said to Harvey.
“Well, I assumed it was something work-related when I noticed how long it was taking you to come back and came to drag you back to bed!” You announced to your boyfriend entangling your bodies with certain disregard for the other man standing there in shock.
Only then did Mike notice a framed picture on the sideboard behind him and it displayed both you and Harvey looking at each other with love in your eyes as he carried you bridal style into the water on a beach. Which was another surprise to the young attorney since he didn’t even know that Harvey was a fan of beaches.
“So you’re the famous Mike Ross, then?” You asked, catching his attention again. “You know, it’s very rare for someone to impress Mr. Specter here like you did!”
“Oh, honey, don’t do that, or he’ll spend an entire month finding new ways to subtly bring up in every conversation-”
“Oh, there won’t be anything subtle about it, Mr. Specter,” Mike said mockingly, finally coming out of the shock he had been on. “But I’m curious now, how long have you two been together?”
“About three years, isn’t it, babe?” You answered quickly not paying any mind to the mockery on Mike’s voice.
“Yeah, that’s right.”
“Wow, I never would’ve guessed it. Harvey never talks about you. Like ever.” Mike impolitely announced. “I mean, I didn’t even know he had a girlfriend and it’s been months since we started working together.”
“Well, that sounds about right since we don’t like to display our personal lives at work.” You said nonchalantly.
“But do Jessica and Donna know?”
“Of course they do. Must I remind you that you’re not a Donna or a Jessica, Mike?”
“Ouch. But do Lewis and Rachel know?”
“No, and no. And as interesting as your findings were, it’s time for you to leave. We’ll talk more about it tomorrow at the office.”
“But-”
“Mike. Now!”
“Oh, Harvey, don’t be like that.”
“He needs to go now and we need to go back to bed, so bye, Mike!” Harvey said while shoving Mike out the door.
And after he was gone, just like in the picture, Harvey picked you up from the floor and started carrying you back to the bedroom.
“Harvey!” You squealed out. But he didn’t mind it as he tossed you on the bed, got on top of you, and started kissing you. Apparently, Mike’s visit had put him in a good mood. And, apparently, it was going to be a long night.

Aftershocks
A hurt/comfort Steddie blurb while I take a break from my main fic.
Tumblr media
“Something's up with Steve, Eddie.”
Robin was pacing back and forth in front of Eddie, who was sitting on his couch in the trailer the government had so graciously gifted him and Wayne after the spring break incident, and after they finally cleared Eddie's name.
“And?”
“He won't tell me! He tells me everything.”
“And you're coming to me because?”
Robin huffed and gestured to Eddie, as if to try and emphasize the fact he was sitting there at all as the reason, and she had a point. If it hadn't been for Steve he'd probably have just bled out in the Upside Down.
Dustin had explained what happened when Eddie woke up in the hospital. How Steve carried him out of the gate that was in his old trailer, even though he had several broken ribs, and then insisted on being near him.
“Cause according to him, you two bonded in the Upside Down… I know he won't talk to anyone else, so you're the guy.”
Eddie sighed softly.
“Robin, Steve and I haven't talked since I got out of the hospital.”
“Exactly! Don't you think that's weird? He literally fought with the doctors when they tried treating him because he didn't wanna leave you or Max alone, and then once you're both out he just goes radio silent on you?”
Eddie shrugged. He had just chalked it up to him going back to prepping for college or whatever now that Hawkins was safe again. Robin huffed once again, which brought Eddie out of his thoughts.
“Will you just… will you talk to him? For me? He looks terrible and I'm worried about him.”
“Yeah, I will. Just don't get your hopes up, okay?”
Steve sat on his couch after getting home from chauffeuring the kids to their different activities for the day, Will had art club, Max, El, and Erica had gone to the new mall they had built where Starcourt used to be, and Dustin, Lucas and Mike were hanging out at the arcade.
He had been running around non-stop since everything settled after spring break, and that was just with them. He only got short breaks between all the drop offs and pickups, and those were usually filled with college prep, house work, or doing favors for the older kids, much to Robin's dismay.
“Steve if you keep this up you're gonna make yourself sick or something,”
She had said one day while her, Nancy, and Jonathan were over. They had offered to take over some of the driving duties so Steve could have a break, but he refused.
“I'm fine, guys, really. I appreciate it but you've all got your own stuff going on.”
“Well, so do you.” Nancy chimed in.
“Steve, the last drafts of your college application essays had so many typos in them it looked like you were writing them in your sleep.” Steve scoffed softly and shook his head.
“Well, then it's a good thing I had you look over them, isn't it?” After more bickering back and forth, the three had left empty-handed, and Steve continued on his self-destructive helping spree.
Which is why he was surprised when Eddie showed up on his porch on a Friday afternoon unannounced and out of nowhere, a grocery bag of snacks and drinks in hand.
“Hey, uh, can I come in? I wanna talk to you.” Steve let him in and noticed Eddie had slipped off his shoes at the door.
“What's up, Eddie?”
“I could ask the same of you. You look like… well you don't look great.” Steve scoffed softly at the comment before considering the fact Eddie had clearly said something less harsh than he was originally going to.
“I've just been busy.”
“Busy enough to skip meals?”
“Eddie. Not you, too.” Eddie stuffed his hands in his Jacket pockets after setting the bag on the coffee table.
“What do you mean, ‘not me, too’?”
“You're here to ask to take over driving the kids around, aren't you?” Eddie let out a short laugh.
“What? You think I'd let the Hellions into my van? Mike and Dustin are lucky I don't make them walk home from sessions.”
“So… Robin didn't tell you to come see me?” Steve had just guessed, but the way Eddie shrugged confirmed his suspicion. Of course Robin would go to Eddie-she knew if anyone was gonna get through to Steve it'd be him, especially after he insisted on being by Eddie's side in the hospital. She saw something spark up in Steve that she knew was the starts of a crush.
“Oh, no, she totally did. But I'm not gonna try a tactic that already didn't work. I just came to hang out, to encourage you to take a break.”
“Well, I have to work on my essays for my applications, so maybe some other time, yeah?” Eddie shook his head, which made Steve mentally curse both him and Robin.
“No can do, big boy, it's my turn to dolt around for you. Sit.”
“Eddie I really don't th-”
“Steve. I'm doing this for Robin's sake and for yours. Pick a movie, sit your ass down, and relax.” Eddie went over and nudged Steve in the direction of the movie shelf.
“Otherwise I'm gonna go grab 'The American Werewolf in London' outta the van and we're watching that.”
“Why is it in your van?”
“Cause it's a rental and if I leave it in there I'll remember to return it.” Steve raised his eyebrows and nodded, picking out The Dark Crystal and popping it into the player before sitting down.
The two watched the movie for a while, and Eddie kept an eye on Steve, who had visibly relaxed.
“Hey, so, I've gotta ask, why have you been running yourself into the ground, Harrington?” Steve looked over at him before looking back at the movie. It looked like he was trying to figure out how to say what was on his mind.
“I just…I don't wanna be stagnant, I guess.”
“Steve, c’mon, tell me the truth. I'm not gonna force it out of you but I can't help if you don't tell me, man.” Steve let out a soft sigh and sat up, placing his drink on the table as he did. Eddie watched as the tension made itself at home in Steve again as he moved, and part of him wished he hadn't opened his big mouth.
“The night Starcourt burned down.”
“Yeah?”
“Hopper wasn't the only one who went through shit that night.” Eddie let Steve take his time, watching him with wide eyes. The brunette looked like he wanted to crawl under the table and hide, and Eddie didn't blame him.
“Well, to make a long story short, Starcourt was a front for a Russian military base and they captured Robin and I. It was awful, we were only there for hours, but it felt like days…” Steve took a shaky breath and ran his hand through his hair nervously.
“I felt so useless. I couldn't help Robin even though she was right there, and it felt like the ground was ripped out from under me. I told myself if I survived I never wanted to feel like that again.” Eddie frowned and furrowed his brow, twisting the rings on his hand as he did.
“Steve. You're not useless, you were just as trapped as she was.” He reached out and grabbed Steve's shoulder supportively.
“I know but-”
“No buts. From now on, if you start to feel that way, tell someone. Hell, tell me. Just, don't dig yourself into a hole you can't get out of, okay? You've got so many people that care about you, but we can't help you if you don't ask for it.” Steve looked at Eddie for a moment before looking down at his hands.
“Yeah… okay… Thanks, Eddie. Really.” Eddie smiled and nodded, giving Steve's shoulder a squeeze, and went back to watching the movie.
It wasn't long before Eddie felt Steve's head on his shoulder and he smiled as he adjusted himself so both he and Steve would be more comfortable.
“One more question.”
“Yeah, Eddie?”
“Why didn't you tell Robin? She'd be able to comfort you a bit better than any of us.” Steve shrugged a bit, which made Eddie sigh.
“Steve. She's your best friend, and who else would know how you felt better than her?”
“It's not just Starcourt, Eddie.” Eddie raised his eyebrows expectantly and it was Steve's turn to sigh as he pulled his knees up to his chest. It was a defense mechanism he had picked up after all the body blows he'd taken throughout the past year, and it seemed to have latched onto his mental health as well.
“I thought you were gonna die… You did, a couple of times, on the way to the hospital… Then I saw Lucas and Max and I started feeling helpless again. Dustin told me what you did and all I remember is hearing this voice in my head telling me it was my fault you were even in that position in the first place. You and Max are just as much a part of this weird, fucked up family as the rest of us and-” Steve stopped when Eddie put a hand on his knee, looking up at him with those big doe eyes.
“Steve, you weren't the one that made me do anything. None of this was your fault, and I'd have done it despite what you had to say. Like you said, we're a weird, fucked up family, and I'd literally kill for Dustin, so of course I'd do what I could to help.” Eddie watched Steve wipe at his face with his sleeve and reached over to gently grab his arm, pulling him into a hug. Steve had stiffened up a bit in surprise, but Eddie soon felt his body shake as he sobbed, and rubbed his back comfortingly.
After a while, and a lot of crying, Steve finally pulled back and looked at Eddie. His face was red, and his eyes were puffy from crying, but his eyes were full of something Eddie never really saw much when he'd try comforting someone.
Gratitude.
Usually it would wind up in the person getting upset with him, which he didn't mind because it took their focus off of what was upsetting them in the first place, but he never got so much as a thank you for it.
“Thank you… Sorry for soaking your shirt.”
Eddie laughed softly and shook his head, taking Steve's hands in his.
“It's alright, Steve. You feel better?”
Steve nodded and let out a soft laugh, wiping at his face with his sleeve before rubbing his face fully.
“God… that was such an ugly cry. I can't believe you let me go for so long.”
Eddie laughed as well and wrapped an arm around him playfully, giving him a squeeze.
“You should see me cry, like, really cry. Snot gets everywhere.”
Steve stuck his tongue out at the thought, making a disgusted sound.
“Gross.”
“Right? At least you managed to stay pretty somehow.”
Steve tilted his head and smirked softly, heart jumping into his throat for a moment before he managed to speak.
“You think I'm pretty?” Eddie's face went red and he cleared his throat, which confirmed it for Steve before he even started talking.
“Well…yeah. Even when your hair's a mess you still look like some deity, couple that with how caring you really are and any girl would have to be blind and dumb not to want you.” Steve's heart dropped like a rock just as quickly as it had leaped, and he was hoping it wasn’t readable in his body language.
“Actually…I don't think I'm all that into girls anymore.” Steve noticed Eddie's head tilt to the side just the slightest bit before he glanced around, avoiding eye contact. Was Eddie nervous? Steve couldn't tell, equating Eddie's neutral expression to that of a scared puppy.
“When did… when did that happen?”
“Well… I guess I've always felt like that, but just avoided it, y’know? I know how hard it is to be anything but straight in Indiana but…when we were alone in the Upside Down, it kind of confirmed it for me, I guess.” Eddie finally made eye contact, and his eyes were full of confusion and a bit of fear.
“I…I was your gay awakening?” Steve let out a soft laugh and shrugged. He hadn't really thought about that. Sure, he knew he had a crush on the metalhead, but he didn't think of it as a sexual awakening or anything.
“I mean, I guess? I never really thought of it like that until now but… I dunno, it's dumb.” Eddie leaned over and grabbed Steve's face in his hands, the confusion and fear in his eyes replaced with an intense passion.
“Don't ever call anything you think dumb, Steve Harrington.” They were so close to each other their noses were almost touching, and Steve took in the scent of cigarettes and sweat. All he had to do was lean forward just the slightest bit…
“Eddie?”
“Yeah?”
“I… uh…” I love you, I wanna hold you and kiss you and never let you go. He wanted desperately to tell Eddie how he felt, how badly he wanted to kiss him, but he found himself, instead, swallowing his words.
“You…?” Eddie dragged, the passion replaced with a softness that made Steve melt. He squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath, leaning in to softly kiss Eddie's lips before pulling away.
When he finally mustered up the courage to open his eyes, Steve was greeted by a red-faced Eddie, who sat there dumb-founded and blushing.
“Eddie? I-Im sorry, I shouldn't have done-” Eddie shook his head, which made Steve stop.
“No, no, it's okay. It was…a wonderful surprise.” Steve felt his heart skip a beat once again and bit his lip. He couldn't tell if Eddie meant that as a good thing or not, his voice was so soft and monotone in that moment it felt like he was replaced with a robot while Steve had his eyes closed.
“Is that a good thing or…?” Eddie smiled softly and leaned in to close the distance Steve had created.
“It's a good thing. I promise.”

Clingy: Eddie Munson
Stranger Things Masterlist
word count: 754
Request: Hey could you possibly do a fic where Eddie and the reader have been dating a while and he suddenly just starts distancing himself from them. The reader is hella confused because they are very clingy and when they ask him about it he becomes angry and just tells them they are too clingy and when he calms down the reader just sits with him and try’s to give him a hug and he’s all like “what did I just say” and they gets upset and thinks he hates them now.
Tumblr media
You and Eddie had been dating for a while after years of being friends for a while and everything had been fine and perfect in the beginning but lately, Eddie had been acting weird. He was around as much he was, always making excuses or canceling at the last minute, and he even stopped being affectionate with you which upset you because you loved giving him affection.
You finally managed to get Eddie alone and planned on asking him what was up with his behavior lately. You nervously approached him as he was cleaning up after hellfire unsure of how this conversation was going to go.
"What is it y/n?" He asked you annoyed which upset you because he never called you by your name.
"I was hoping we could talk." You said playing with the rings on your fingers.
"What is there to talk about?" He asked you making you wonder what did to upset him.
"Your behavior lately! Your hardly around anymore and when you are, it's like I'm not there." You said on the verge of tears.
"Because your so clingy!" He yelled making you step back and let out a whimper at his tone as you tried to understand how you were clingy.
Eddie sighed taking a look at your state before taking a seat trying to calm down as he hadn't meant to yell at you like that. He watched as you slowly walked over to him and tried to hug him making him look at you.
"What did I just say?" He said as you took a step back.
"You clearly need space, so I'm gonna go and when you're ready you can talk to me." You said quietly leaving him with his thoughts.
The whole way home you cried because you really felt like Eddie hated you. It had been a few days since Eddie yelled at you and called you clingy so you avoided him not wanting him to hate you anymore which was hard because you missed him. Eddie, on the other hand, hated being apart from you, and most of all he missed your touch, so he went to find you and hopefully make this right. He walked into the movie store and saw you talking with a customer looking exhausted.
"If your here to yell at me, can you wait until after I get off?" You asked him.
"I'm not here to yell. I was hoping we talk." He said nervously.
"I get off in fifteen we can talk then if you want." You said as he nodded his head deciding to hang out in the store while he waited for your break.
Fifteen minutes late you two took a seat at the table behind the store and you were nervous about how this conversation was about to go.
"I assume you're here to break up with me?" You asked him making him look at you shocked.
"No sweetheart, I came to apologize for yelling at you and calling you clingy when your not. I never found you clingy in fact Mike Wheeler said I was the clingy one so I distanced myself from you in hopes that you wouldn't leave me but then you came and tried to talk to me and instead of talking to you, I yelled at you and called you clingy and I'm sorry." He said.
"First off fuck Mike Wheeler. Second I don't find you clingy whatsoever, I love how affectionate you are with me, it's the best part of my day. And while I'm not happy you yelled at me, I do understand which is why I am going to forgive you as long as you promise to come to talk to me when something is bothering you." You said lacing your hands with his.
"I promise to work on my communication skills sweetheart becuase those were the worst few days of my life." He said leaning across the table and placing a kiss on your lips.

keeping secrets
Tumblr media
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Henderson!Reader
Summary: Eddie's campaign ran a little longer than intended, and an unexpected visitor distracts him. Dustin may be overbearing and even overprotective, but Eddie's good at keeping secrets...Words: 1.6k
Warnings: none! sibling fluff, Eddie is a simp, fluff, some language
This fic is intended for a fem reader, but I can post a different version with different pronouns if needed! All fics are size and race-neutral!
//this one is a little short, unfortunately. I could make a second part if anyone wants it!
Tumblr media
"Fuck, I gotta go. I'll talk to you later, Robin. I swear I'll make it up to you! Tell me about this girl next time. I wanna hear everything! Bye!"
You practically slammed the phone back onto the switch and looked at the clock, 10:26 pm. Dustin's campaign is probably over by now. You were supposed to pick up your brother, Dustin, at 10pm sharp. "Shit, mom's gonna kill me!" You scrambled around your room, fixing your hair into a comfortable style. You raided your closet and changed your clothes to look a little more presentable than you were not even five minutes ago.
Your mother was on a business trip, leaving you to take care of the brat. He was a handful, and so were his friends. Dustin would always rant to you about a guy named Eddie and how great he was. You didn't buy it...
"Why couldn't you have had someone else to drive you home, Dustin.." You were talking to yourself as if Dustin was really there. You grabbed your keys and rushed out to the car, ignoring the concerned glance from your mother's cat as you walked out the door. "Bye, Mews" you mumbled.
You started the car a soon pulled out of your driveway and into the night. As your hands tightly gripped the steering wheel, you were surprised to see how empty the streets were. "Fuuuck I'm so late." an anxious feeling in your stomach washed over you. Part of you felt guilty, but you knew that Dustin would forgive you. It's in his nature.
When you pulled up to the school, Dustin was nowhere to be seen. However, you saw the dim lights of the Hellfire Club's room from outside. "He better be done. It's been like 5 hours!" you said to yourself as you walked through the door near the club room. You graduated last year, and that door was never locked. You had used it many times to skip school and hang out with Steve and Robin.
You walked inside, feeling yourself warm up from the cold November air outside. "Jesus, nothing's changed," as you looked at the aging posters that had been there for years, you felt a sense of nostalgia. You never thought you'd be back here, let alone picking up your brother from his stupid club. You didn't really think it was stupid. But if you had to choose between a very interesting call with Robin versus visiting the Hellfire Club, you'd choose the call.
You heard shouting and many voices yelling "Mike!" or "Dustin!" making you roll your eyes. "Jesus, they're still playing?" you said to yourself quietly as you followed the echoed shouting from the hall to the club room. The entrance was decorated with all kinds of stuff that looked like something out of a cult. "Wow, very festive.." you muttered to yourself.
You didn't notice the eyes watching you from inside the room. "Do you need something?" a voice from inside asked. The man had long hair and was adorned in the Hellfire t-shirt that you had seen Dustin wear dozens of times and large rings. You'd be lying if you said you weren't a little intimidated. "Uh yeah, I'm-" you were cut off by Dustin. "We're almost done, Y/n! Just like five more minutes please?" you nod and roll your eyes. You were about to walk back to your car when you heard, "Wait!"
You turned around to see the long-haired man walking toward you. "So you're the famous Y/n Henderson. It's a pleasure to meet you." He held his hand out to shake yours. His rings caught your eye as you took his hand. "I am. And you are?" You tilt your head waiting for a response, to which there was none. Eddie stopped listening when you shook his hand. He had heard Dustin talk about his sister before. He only knew you by name. He looked at your confused face and realized his mistake. "Huh? Oh, I'm Eddie." You heard whispered talking from behind Eddie.
"I think you have some people waiting for you, Eddie." You couldn't help but laugh as his face went a little pink in embarrassment. The other Hellfire members were surprised to say the least. They had never seen their leader so flustered and at a loss for words. "Why don't we talk after your session?" you offered, making him smile. "Yeah, I'm sure Dustin could wait in the car, can't you, Dustin?" He narrowed his eyes at Dustin, who was rolling his eyes.
"No, I'm not gonna wait in the car while you suck each other's faces!" this made you and Eddie laugh. "I'll wait outside. I wouldn't want disturb the campaign.." you smirk at him and watch him walk back. You smiled to yourself as you heard protests when Eddie told them that the todays session would end soon.
As you waited outside the room, you rolled your eyes at the things said about you. "Wow, Dustin, you never told us you had a hot sister.." You could practically see the image of the disgusted look on Dustin's face in your mind as you held in your laughter. "Answer this honestly, Henderson. Is your sister dating anyone at the moment?" Gareth asked, making Dustin throw dice at him.
"Alright, it's over for tonight! No throwing things! We'll finish this tomorrow. Henderson, ask your sister if she'd like to join us and watch tomorrow." Eddie started packing up the figurines, dice, and anything else used for the game.
You sat on the hood of your car, waiting patiently for Dustin and Eddie. Dustin passed you and sat in the passenger seat, not saying a word. "C'mon don't be like that, Dustin. It's just a friendly chat!" you can't help but laugh as he rolls the window down. "Stay the hell away from my sister, Eddie!" he points a finger in Eddie's face. Eddie smirked and ignored him.
"Sorry about him, he's protective all of the sudden." you laugh as Dustin flips you off from inside the car. "Don't worry about it. He has to be, I'm sure every guy in Hawkins is after you." He leans on the hood of the car with you. You just shake your head and scoff. "Believe me, nobody in Hawkins is looking my way. More reason to get out of here, you know?" Eddie stopped listening after the first sentence yet again. He was shocked. How could nobody have snatched you up yet?
"You're joking." Eddie sent you a look of utter confusion. It made you laugh. God he loved your laugh. He watched you sigh, and he couldn't help but feel angry at Dustin for never introducing him sooner. "Nope, but I don't feel bad about it. I'll find someone once I leave Hawkins." Eddie couldn't help but admire your positivity. He was a little disappointed that you weren't looking for someone in Hawkins.
"So, you've given up on every guy in Hawkins?" you smirked knowingly and shrugged. "I don't know, Eddie. Why?" you press him for answers, trying to make him squirm. He avoided your eyes and stared at the ground. "No reason, just wondering.." he trailed off.
You smile and jump off the hood, standing in the gravel in front of Eddie. "Well, if you were curious..." you start, watching his eyes light up in hope. It was the most adorable thing you've ever seen. "I'd gladly go on a date with you, Eddie."
Eddie tried to keep his composure. He was usually very outgoing and extremely flamboyant. But in this moment, he felt very anxious. He'd never truly felt this nervous around anyone, let alone a girl he'd just met. But he knew one thing; If Dustin was fun, his sister was even better.
"I was going to ask you, but it didn't feel like the right time." He felt embarrassed, but when he looked at you and found your understanding gaze, he relaxed. He didn't want to make you uncomfortable the first time he met you. It happened too often for Eddie. Whenever he met girls, he'd move too fast. But he liked you already for several reasons; you weren't judgemental, you took care of people around you, and you were absolutely gorgeous.
He didn't know where the fuck Dustin was hiding you but he was over the moon about you and he had only met you an hour ago. "Might not want to tell Dustin though, he'll freak." You glanced back at Dustin, who was talking to one of his friends through his walkie talkie. You made sure Dustin wasn't looking when you grabbed Eddie's hand. "Here's my number. We can talk when I get home. I'd love to know more about you."
Eddie watched you scribble your number onto his hand. He admired how focused you looked, trying to get your pen to put ink onto his hand and barely succeeding. "I'll see you tomorrow then?" Eddie stood up and put his hands in his jean pockets, the cold air making his fingers practically frozen. "Sure, I'll be there. Maybe I could actually watch the campaign this time." Your curiosity towards him and his hobby made Eddie's heart soar as he watched you pull out of the school parking lot.
Fuck he had it bad for you. He felt like a teenager all over again with how crazy he was about you. "So what did you two talk about?" Dustin tried to gauge whether you were now dating his best friend. "Nothing much, just talking about you being too nosy for your own good." You teased him, making him huff and look out the passenger window. Sure, he was annoyed, but deep down he knew Eddie would take care of you.
"And we talked about our date next week...." you said with a smirk.
"Son of a bitch!"

Flew too Close to the Sun (Pt 2)
Pairing: austin!elvis x black fem oc (Faye)
Content: It’s been two weeks since shows at The International Hotel have began. During a party, Faye comforts a distraught Elvis (wc: 2103)
Warnings: mentions of drug/alcohol abuse, illusions to elvis having attachment issues
A/N: I just want to thank everyone who supported the first part of this series. The first part was focusing on the girls, so now we are getting into more Faye/Elvis stuff as we go on. But it is important to me to build a realistic world around the sisters; their bond is important to the story towards the end. It will be a bit of a slow burn toxic messiness for faye and elvis. I keep going back and forth on how naive I want to make faye. Anyway you guys have any questions about the fic or the sisters please send them in. Also don’t forget to reblog, like and follow 🫶🏽. And let me know if you want to be tagged in other parts

Faye has missed this. The sweet monotony of shows and constant performing; it’s the only thing she missed about the chitlin circuit. Constantly being around like minded, artistic people. It also doesn’t hurt having the best seat in the house seeing Elvis do what he does best. It’s hard not to get caught up in the star power that is Elvis Presley. The way he sings, the way dresses, the way he moves; it’s hard not to get caught up in him and his orbit. An orbit of talent, stardom, and coolness.
Faye appreciates her gospel background, and everything her and her sisters have accomplished but something about the world they have been welcomed into is so… tempting. Maybe it’s the difference in costumes, the venue, the type of people that come to see Elvis, or the nature of the songs they help sing. Everything is so different, and Faye loves it.
And she can see the attitude of her sisters changing. Dawn even agreed to come to the party that the rest of the Memphis Mafia are throwing to celebrate 3 years at The International Hotel. A party that would include not only the rest of the band, singers, crew, and staff but also big names in the music and movie industry. These are the connections that Faye thinks they need to make their transition into different music sounds. A modern disco sound with the flare of Motown soul.
“Do they have anything that’s not so… in your face?” Dawn says plucking through the dresses they could wear for the party. Each one being more shimmering and sparkly than the last.
Faye laughs as she eyes the clothes, especially a silver spaghetti strap number. It’s perfect. They all spend time trying on different dresses till they finally choose which ones they want to wear for the evening.
“I was talking to Bill, from horns, and he heard from Mike who does the lights who day drinks with Richard, and he said that Priscilla is not gonna be at the party,” Shirley says absentmindedly while checking out a pair of heels.
“No way! Did he tell you why?”
“I knew something was going on with them!”
Faye and Dawn say at the same, and Shirley laughs at their different perspectives on the matter. The girls were born and raised in the church; gossip is in their blood. It’s not always polite or lady like but they just can’t help it.
“He didn’t say why, but I think they’re trouble in paradise. Like they’re done for good,” Shirley says lowly as if there’s others in the room with them.
“Makes sense. Rockstars probably make awful husbands,” Dawn shrugs. “Imagine having to see your husband tongue kiss his fans or having women write how they want to have his children.”
Yeah, that’s not… great. But if it’s all true, Faye can’t help but feel bad for everyone involved. That’s still his wife and the mother of his child.
“Maybe they just need a break from each other,” Faye says softly. “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
“Or a large alimony check.”
Faye rolls her eyes at Dawn’s cynicism. How she has that attitude but is with someone like her boyfriend, Julian, is still shocking to Faye. But then again, maybe they cancel each other out. Julian: overly attentive, romantic, hopeless romantic (it might be the reason why him and Faye are so close). Dawn: aloof, the ultimate realist.
“I wonder who he’ll be with next,” Shirley wonders out loud.
The room gets a bit silent as they all mull over what Shirley just said. Maybe she’ll be an actress, or a dancer, or maybe some random woman he meets at a diner.
“Well, god help her whoever she is,” Dawn says simply.
The subject of Elvis’s love life gets dropped after that, but Faye’s mind still wonders back to relationships. Maybe it’s her lack of luck in the dating the department that makes her curious or makes her crave what her sisters have.
Tumblr media
The party is in full swing by the time the girls get there. The high-rise restaurant in the hotel had been renovated to a dimly lit, tightly packed club atmosphere. The only light coming from the bar area and the technicolor lights bouncing off the walls.
“I’m gonna go get a drink,” Faye raises her voice over the pumping music.
“Remember no dark liquor!”
Faye nods pretending to care about Shirley’s warning. So, she got a little tipsy one time after drinking a couple scotch on the rocks. She was 21; she can hold her liquor better now. She slides up to the bar, asking the bartender for an old fashion. One can’t hurt.
“I expected you to be more of a martini girl,” a familiar voice sounds off next to her.
Jerry. His eyes are covered by aviators and his smile is easy. He’s always been kind to the girls. If any of them had a question, they knew they could go to him.
“And what made you think that?” Fays asks with a laugh.
“I don’t know. Something dainty and sweet would just suit you.”
He’s flirting, and Faye is sure of it. She tries to think of something flirty back but Dawn’s voice rings in her head.
We are gonna do this right
Despite how fond her sisters are of Jerry; she can only imagine the stern talks she’ll get if she starts anything with anyone in that inner circle. Then again, she could just not tell them.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Faye gives his shoulder a squeeze before taking her drink and going back to the dancefloor where the girls are. She can feel Jerry’s eyes on her back while she walks away.
She dances with her sisters and members of the band for what feels like forever. A part of her forgets why this party was even thrown till she realizes she hasn’t seen Elvis all night. They play his music and they’re giant, and honestly obnoxious pictures of his performances from his time at the hotel. But she’s yet to see him in the flesh. The dancefloor is insanely hot, and despite the fun she’s having, Faye needs air. She pushes through the crowd to get to the crowd to get to the outside patio of the restaurant.
Faye is a little shocked when she sees the back of Elvis. She waits for him to notice that she’s walked out there but, he’s sitting at one of the tables, focused on the bright lights of Vegas. The slumped shoulders and almost empty bottle of whiskey give away he is not necessarily in a partying mood. She debates in her head if she should see if he’s ok or just turn back around and pretend she never saw him. Faye thinks about what she would want someone to do for her and walks towards the table.
“You throw a mean party,” Faye says softly
Elvis only turns slightly to her, eyes rimmed red, and he gives her a halfhearted smile. She sits down in one of the chairs next to him. They sit in silence for a moment before he breaks it after finishing off the bottle of liquor.
“The party isn’t for me,” he says lowly. “It’s never for me. It’s all about the show.”
Faye’s mind goes to the booze. She wonders if he knows that people outside his circle know about his “habits”. He must know people see the doctor and the yes men that follow him around. A part of her feels guilty; she thinks the treatment is wrong but here she is benefiting from it; the shows, the clothes, the meeting new people.
“No one actually cares about me,” he continues, bitterness in his voice.
She knows who that is pointed towards. What Shirley heard must’ve been true because Priscilla is a no show and has been for months. Faye really can’t blame her. She knows better than to bring Priscilla up by name, so she tries a different approach.
“People do care about you, even the ones you think don’t right know,” Faye reassures him, reaching out to grab the hand that’s resting of the table. “Your family, friends, and fans all care about you. Everyone who gets to work with you cares. I care about you.”
She squeezes his hand; Elvis’s eyes travel from where their hands are to Faye’s eyes. There’s an earnestness in her big doe eyes that he hasn’t seen in a long time, and earnestness he wants to get a bit lost in. He squeezes her hand back in response, and they share a smile.
The moment is interrupted when the door open and a head of shaggy hair appears. Jerry’s eyes go from the empty bottle to their hands joined together and raises an eyebrow. Faye removes her hand feeling a bit embarrassed by how it probably looks.
“EP, I think they’re want you to say something soon. Just a quick thank you,” Jerry says in a tone completely different from the one she received at the bar.
Elvis sighs before getting up and straightening out his suitcoat; it is the first time that Faye is noticing he doesn’t have a shirt or tie underneath it. Her eyes go from his chest to his eyes that are still on her.
“Thank you for the talk sweetheart,” he says voice much warmer than before, giving her a wink. And just like that Elvis the charmer is back, and Faye can’t help but be thoroughly charmed.
She watches him slide past Jerry before standing herself. She prays in her head Jerry doesn’t say anything and lets her get back to her sisters. Anxiety spikes a bit when he doesn’t.
“You ok,” the question is seemingly short and to the point, but it could mean so many things.
Is she ok in general, is she ok with comforting someone who is technically her boss, are they ok? Faye just nods hoping the conversation would be dropped. Jerry tilts his head, his eyes searching for something in hers.
“I don’t want overstep my boundaries,” Jerry starts slowly.
“So don’t,” Faye says back quickly.
He sighs and looks down at his shoes before look back up. He stands square in front of Faye’s way to get back to the party.
“I just want you to be careful is all,” he lowers his voice. “Elvis is in a fragile state right now, and I know how he gets once he… takes a liking to someone.”
Faye can tell he is trying to choose his words wisely, and she knows how to read between the lines. Elvis and Jerry have known each other for a long time, and they’re good friends. But Jerry has also been there for just as many bad times as good.
“Jerry, I’m fine, and nothing is going on between him and I,” Faye says. “Now let’s go back inside please.”
Jerry doesn’t budge for a moment, as if he’s gonna say something in rebuttal but the sound of cheers breaks the tension. He gives once last fleeting look to her before shaking his head wordlessly and open the door to let Faye in. The walk to Elvis on the mic thanking the owner of the International, as well as couple other bigwigs. Elvis’s eyes wonder across the room till they meet Faye’s
“I want to especially thank all people who help me put on a great show,” his says, smile soft as his eyes don’t leave Faye’s. “I have very special people behind me.”
A part of Faye knows he’s talking about the talk they just had, but she tries to push that aside for the rest of the night. He was down on his luck and just needed a friend. Nothing more, nothing less… Right? Being reconnected with her sisters helps take her mind off both chats she had that night. That with the help of a couple more old fashions, and few shots.
The greatly regrets that choice the next morning she has a pounding headache. Pounding that matched the vigorous knocking on the door that wakes her up. She opens the door to someone recognizes in Elvis’s inner circle. She raises an eyebrow at the giant, and beautiful bouquet of flowers in his hands. She asks him if he has the wrong room, and he says he was supposed to take them directly to Faye Williams room 809.
Her throat tightens a bit when she reads the note.
A special woman deserves special flowers. EP
Jerry’s words pop back into her head. Be careful.

Graveyard Shift
(A/N: hey guys this is my first fnaf fic and also i apologize for my insane writing style)
Mike is missing Vanessa and gets a job at a hospital.
A large piece of paper with a “FIRED” laid upon Mike’s desk.
Mike stared at the paper in utter confusion. He looks around the office, waiting for an explanation. He just started a month ago, don’t tell him he’s doomed to forever look for a job he’s only gonna have for a few weeks and then get fired!
“You got fired again?” Abbey asked at the dinner table. It had only been a couple of months since his last job as a… security guard… “How come?” Abbey continued to question as she stuffed her mouth with cheap off-brand cereal.
“Apparently, I kept clocking in too late when they needed me to come in sooner, or something like that.” Mike shook his head as he filled his coffee mug to the brim, nearly overfilling it due to his lack of focus on the very important act of filling a cup of coffee. He could never get a job as a barista like that. Wasn’t even a good brand of coffee.
He put the cup of coffee on the dinner table in such an unmannered manner, such a rude man not putting his coffee down in a way so that it wouldn’t make a loud sound. With a swift motion he pulled a chair out and sat his perky little cheeks on it. Abbey looked up from her bowl of cereal at him with some kind of emotion on her face, not sure which. “How is Vanessa doing?” she asked as she tilted her head. Mike froze for a moment. He forgot when the last time he visited her was. But he knew for sure that last time, she was still asleep. “Why haven’t I seen her lately? Is she still hurt?”
Mike nodded his square head “Vanessa is getting better but she has to stay at the hospital until she can get back to working. Working as a cop is dangerous, you see, so they want to make sure she’s had a full recovery.” Abbey looked at him like he was stupid. “Yeah, I know why she’d need to stay at a hospital. I just wanted to know how she was doing.” she said cockishly. Mike chuckled as he looked in the jobs section of the daily newspaper. It was then he saw an ad for a night shift as a security guard at the very hospital Vanessa was staying at.
Mike looked away from the paper and towards his pseudo-daughter sister girl. “Hey Abbey, how has school been treating you?” Abbey stopped her cereal chewing for a moment and spoke to him with her mouth full. “Ifs beenf goof!” she swallowed, “There’s this boy and girl who's been hanging out with me at lunch.” That made Mike smile. “That’s cool, they got names?” he asked. “Of course, um, their names are Cassie and Gregory. They mostly talk to each other, but they like drawing with me.” She started to brag about her new-found friends, wiping milk from her mouth as an alarm clock started to go off. Mike grabbed the clock and smashed it on the ground. “Looks like it's time for school then.” Abbey happily stood up from the table not even putting her dishes in the sink wow Mike really setting a good example for your little sister and ran over to the door, putting on her shoes.
After dropping Abbey off, Mike started thinking about that graveyard shift at Vanny’s hospital. Now of course, Mike is still traumatized by his last graveyard shift, and he's not even sure if he can do nights again ever since Max…
But still, it was probably best to look for some kind of job. Maybe he could even pay Vanessa a visit! No, that was creepy. Kind of creepy. Would Vanessa find that creepy? Would she be happy that Mike got a job just to see her? After everything they’ve been through?
When Mike got home he immediately grabbed the phone and dialed in the number of the hospital. Y’know, just cuz he needed the job. No other reason.
“Y’ello, this is Fritz Smith at the New Horizons Medical Center, how may I help you?”
Mike thinks for a moment about what to say.
“....Y’ello? If you aren’t gonna say anything then just hangup, we’re a very busy line we don’t have all day.”
“I wanted to ask about the security job.”
___________________________________________________
As he stepped into the cool air of the night out of his car, he looked at the hospital before him. He already had on his uniform and brought a flashlight with him, so instead of checking to make sure he had everything, he just unlocked the doors and walked in balls to the walls like he owns the place. God what a prick.
Mike got to his office, didn’t put anything down cuz he forgot to bring a backpack, and then immediately left to go see Vanessa. He was lucky he was able to find a babysitter in time, some guy named Ness who needed a side hustle alongside his waitering job. Mike went up and down the stairs AND the escalator trying to find Ms. Nessa before finding her room. He was twice as lucky that she got a room all to herself, so he wouldn’t be disturbing any other patients.
Mike flashed his flashlight directly at Vanessa’s face. Nope, not waking up. Mike got real close to Vanny’s ear and whispered a soft “Vaaaa~~ Nessss~~ Aaaaa~~”. Didn’t work either. Mike slumped in the chair next to her bed, out of ideas. His perky little buttcheeks weren’t helping him this time.
“I guess I shouldn’t have expected much. You’re still recovering after all. Sorry, Vanessa.” Just as Mike got up from his chair, he hears a screech and feels something grab at his arm. “Mike? That you?”
Mike could jump for joy. In fact, he did. He fucking jumped on a poor sick woman. He then realized that was weird and got back up.
“Sorry, I just- me and Abbey both missed you.” Just as Vanessa was about to speak, he interrupted, “I didn’t bring her with me by the way, I’ve learned better.” Vanessa chuckled.
“I’m glad to see ya, Mike. I uh, haven’t been having great dreams. Nightmares, to be exact. Nightmares about my dad, to be specific.” Mike sat back down into the chair nodding his head. “Go on?” he furthers.
“Well… I keep thinking about something that happened when I was a child.” She began, “I had just gotten home from school when I walked into my father preparing dinner in the kitchen. He was making my favorite, potato stew.” She leaned on Mike’s shoulder a bit, tearing up a little. “I used to love potato stew, I would always ask my mom to make it for me. I always had it on my birthday, too. But that day, I stopped liking it.”
“How come?” Mike asks, “Did you find a fly in your soup?” Vanessa chuckled a bit before her voice changed to a somber tone.
“No. But I did find something else in it.” She started to choke up and before Mike could even ask what, she says “I found my mother’s ring finger in it.”
Mike stares at her in disbelief. Vanessa starts to sob, the memories coming back. “A-and. I remember my dad.. He.. he told me that if I ever cr-crossed him. Like my mother did. I’d. I'd end up like her.” She laid her head on Mike’s arm, getting his jacket wet from her tears. Mike wasn’t really sure how to comfort her, he was also just really bad at comforting people in general. He knew one thing though, that his perky little buttcheeks wouldn’t help.
“I’m really sorry Vanny. It’s not the exact same, but I know how it feels for your mom to not be around anymore.” Vanessa nodded with tears rolling down her face cheeks. “A few years after Abbey was born, mom just felt so stressed she…” Vanessa pulled him into a hug. Mike just accepted it, knowing she knew what he was about to say.
“SNOOOOOORKKKK mimimimimi….” Vanessa snored loud as hell. Mike put her back into her bed making sure not to mess with all the wires next to her. He figured it’d be fine if he fell asleep on the job, at least until six.

If you still take questions from the Tree writer ask game: Gingko: What part of your story is the oldest, has stuck around from that original idea?
Paper Birch: Which character has the most layers peeled back?
I am indeed still taking asks! I am always taking asks from any ask game I’ve ever reblogged, by the way. Just tell me which one and preferably include the questions, especially if it’s from a while back. You did this exactly right 💚
Gingko: A World of His Own has actually changed shockingly little from the original idea. From the first “hey, what if” series of texts about the concept I sent to @thethistlegirlwrites, the basic premise and who was involved were set. I had the basic plot sketched out in its entirety within a few days. So to answer this question, I’m going to have to go back to a few days before the actual germ of the idea, when I read this fic by @mikecrewsteacup and started thinking about Mike a lot more than I previously had. One of the things I noticed was that Jude said Mike “hangs around with the Fairchilds sometimes,” so he clearly knows and gets on with them but isn’t one himself, and I started wondering if they hadn’t invited him to join or if they had but he’d declined, and if so why. I did eventually decide it makes total sense with his character that he would prefer to remain as unaffiliated as possible with anything and anyone except the Vast, and especially that he’d be uncomfortable with the idea of a family of any sort, but it led to wondering what, if anything, might have been different if he had been a Fairchild. That led to me thinking more about the Fairchilds in general, which led to me going back over Freefall and wondering who Harriet was (besides the only Fairchild besides Simon we get a name for. We get the names of more Lukases, for crying out loud) and what the deal was with Robert Kelly and Open Skydiving (more on that in chapter 11), and that led to me writing a ficlet where she gets sent to invite Mike to join the Fairchild family a year or two after his Becoming. Even then, when they both suspected that the other might start trying to kill them at any moment, I could tell within a few minutes of them interacting with each other that their dynamic had, pun intended, vast potential. So, probably the oldest part of this story is the relationship between Mike and Harriet. (My interest in Jon and Helen’s dynamic is even older, but the way I think about it has evolved enough over time that I think the above answer still stands.)
Paper Birch: surprising no one, I’m gonna have to say Helen. Not just because she’s been a thousand different people over the past who-knows-how-many centuries, not just because she’s often a mystery even to herself, but because one of the many consequences of the fact that this fic is being told entirely from Jon’s point of view is that what gets conveyed to the readers is limited by what he knows and thinks and believes, and even though Jon is hands-down Helen’s favorite person and (by this point in the story) the person who loves her most, he’s also fundamentally unable to understand her (for practical reasons and for her safety), not to mention just. Kind of shit at actually understanding other people in general. However, he’s also inclined to keep trying to work around that, partly because it’s hard for him to grasp any other way to love someone. He’s definitely getting better at that, but in the meantime, the upshot of all that is that he will keep forming new misconceptions about Helen only slightly more slowly than he learns better. Sooner or later they’ll both realize that that’s not a bad thing, but for now… yeah.
Thank you for the ask, friend! Best!

consider this a primer. I just wanted to show little snapshots before getting into the real thing, which will be a separate fic. This was honestly inspired by me re-listening to old Night Vale episodes in honor of spooky month so this universe will essentially be Hawkins slowly turning into a town similar to that.
Eventual steddie, ronance, and maybe even jargyle (in the main fic)
Mike made a face of disgust while Lucas covered his nose. Erica was just looking on with wide eyes as the mass of dead pigeons within the circle made of blood.
With a groan, Mike took out a match just before Erica took a picture with her camera.
"That is the tenth demon summoning this week holy shit", Lucas said.
"Does this one even count though?", Erica's nose scrunched. "They just used a bunch of pigeons."
Mike lit the match and set the dead birds on fire. "Either way, we gotta tell the others and get the word out."
"My question is why", Lucas went from pinching his nose to fanning the rancid smoke away. "Why the hell would people think the devil is gonna help them now?"
Mike just shrugged but as always, Erica had an idea. "Maybe they think if they become devil worshippers, they'll get mercy."
But the three of them knew very well that nothing that was happening was the work of Satan. While the evil had many names, it didn't come from Hell. It was much colder.
-------------------
Many citizens of Hawkins turned their radios on that evening to one of the few stations still available. The voice of a teenager came on.
"Wassup Hawkins! Iiiiit's Gareth!"
"And Robin!"
"Coming to you live from my mother's basement!"
"That's a lie, we're actually in his father's basement."
"Yeah, you know the story, mom skips out, raised by single dad, live forever in single dad's basement. Anyway, let's get right to it, shall we Bucks?"
"We shall because it seems that people STILL think that sacrificing animals on top of a pentagram will grant them perdition."
"This is your daily reminder to NOT DO THAT", Gareth said.
"Dead animals will only attract the kind of demon you don't want. Plus, come on, pigeons?"
"If you're gonna worship a devil, get him something nice. The Hawkins petting zoo still has a couple of good goats."
"And in the absence of goats, sacrifice your least favorite child", Robin teased. "Coming up next, How to Avoid Being Ritually Sacrificed by Your Parents."
"If my named rhymed with Bike, Mucus, or Breve, I'd listen in for the next report. But before that, shake your devil worshipping ass to the newest by my band, Corroded Coffin."
A single guitar lick was heard before the radio was shut off.
"Hey! Don't turn off a hit!", Eddie protested.
"I need to focus. And don't you have something to do?"
Eddie's first instinct was to turn to Steve and so he did the complete opposite and instead turned to face the wall, looking just as aimless as Dustin expected him to be.
"Let me give you a hint, it starts with 'camp' and ends in 'aign'", Dustin helped.
"Right, yeah, that."
"'Right, yeah, that'", Dustin mocked. "You'd think it'd be important to you, now more than ever."
Steve and Eddie shared a look, fortunately, Dustin was too engrossed in his typing to see it. The barricades and guards went all around the town, and they were probably monitoring all phone calls, but there was still Suzie.
"The campaign is important, but I'm hungry now", Eddie said, turning towards the door. "Harrington?"
Steve got up from the couch and was about to follow Eddie out of the Henderson home when Dustin spoke up.
"You sure he doesn't have vampiric compulsion? You sure do what he says a lot lately."
Steve watched as Eddie opened up an umbrella before going outside. "Not a lot of room for conflict in Hawkins these days."
--------------------------
"Oh you're the new guy, huh? Welcome. I'm Argyle. I was once a new guy like yourself. But in the time I've lived here in Hawkins, Indiana, I've learned a lot about myself and the world."
"How many years have you been living here?"
"Years?"
"Don't forget to give them their kit, Argyle", Nancy said, walking by them with a clipboard but barely giving a glance otherwise.
"Right. So here's your newcomer kit."
Meredith, a new resident, opens up the box. There were matches, a lighter, a gun, a blank cassette tape, a pamphlet titled "Beginner's Guide to Dungeons and Dragons", and another pamphlet with depictions of different types of monsters.
"People need all this to live in Hawkins?", Meredith asked.
"They sure do", Argyle answered.
"So you give out guns and lighters to everyone who moves in?"
"Actually, you're the first person to move in since the fences went up. But Big Wheel thinks of everything. Oh!" Argyle then got in real close to whisper. "Just don't let her hear you call her that. She hates it." He then leaned back out and continued in his normal volume. "But you can call her brother Mini Wheels. He hates it too but dude kinda needs to get over himself, you know?"
Meredith did a slow nod but really, she didn't know.
"Great! Well you're all set! And like we say here in Hawkins, don't turn upside down!"
Meredith, who had been smiling at finally being released from this odd conversation, faltered. "Don't turn upside down? You mean my smile?"
"No man, nothing. Don't turn anything upside down."
His voice was serious and it was such a mismatch with his bright clothing and Meredith was wondering what she had gotten herself into. But that was exactly why she was here.
To solve the mysteries of this town.
--------------
El stopped Vecna. For now. But she didn't stop the agents or the government. Now Hawkins in surrounded on all sides. No one goes in, and absolutely no one goes out. It sucks for sure, but hey, life goes on. At least they still get signals and supply drops. And also Eddie's back! But Upside Down stuff is still new to most of the citizens. So it's up to the party to catch them up to speed, prepare them for any coming attack, and school them in the finer points of dealing with the supernatural.

okay i'm finally reading i know better (but you're still around) and i also happened to be listening to this cavetown song on repeat
and it just reminded me so much of Mike in your fic ??
Tumblr media
so the first part/chorus is Mike telling Dustin and Lucas about what he thought happened to Will and them basically thinking he's delusional and laughing in his face (Mike tends to exaggerate i get it)
and the “god i wish i was happy” is obviously wanting Will back bc without Will things have been... Not Good for Mike. he also mentions a few times that he feels incredibly bad and like the worst person in the world for giving up on Will (even though he didn't) and bc he stopped looking for him which i interpret as the “crushing me from above and underneath” line
Tumblr media
from personal experience (and like the website says haha) i interpret this to be about “derealization and how a person can feel like they're not a part of their environment anymore” Mike often mentions how he feels he's watching things play out from outside his body and things like that
also in some cases grief can make meals hard (as we know), especially eating with people which, if i remember correctly, is why Mike mostly took his food up to his room and at times didn't eat at all. eating just feels like it takes up too much energy , energy you don't have so you just sink into your seat, stuff like that
Tumblr media
nobody's listening to his theories about Will, also how he feels like he kinda ruined the party bc they're not as close as they used to be so no one to really listen to & understand his thoughts & everything about Will since they have an unspoken rule not to talk about it etc etc
okay the friend he's imagining is Will, like imagining Will is there or that Will can hear him when he speaks to him & stuff
Tumblr media
okay these lines remind me of Mike so much. we all know he tends to explode when he's upset and say all kinds of stuff that he doesn't really mean and end up apologizing afterwards .
there were these scenes where he and Lucas were having a yelling match & this other one where he was yelling at Max & another he was yelling at Lucas and Dustin both pre and post saving Will from the Upside Down and he's saying lots of hurtful shit and yeah they get that he's grieving and hurting a Lot but also he kinda really hurt their feelings sooo
he apologizes (sometimes reluctantly, sometimes without actually saying the words “im sorry” but they're apologies nonetheless)
Tumblr media
sertraline (y'know thr antidepressant that treats lots of anxiety/depressive related disorders) is a thing that i think Mike would need i mean obviously especially in this fic but the way his grief and pain is described ?
it's literally so fucking heart wrenching and excruciating for me the reader so i cannot even begin to imagine what Mike was feeling . so yeah sertraline's effective but the grief seems More than it and like even more effective which sucks.
um so yeah this is the lyrical analysis of this song you've maybe never heard of that you didn't ask for :D is this anything ? no idea i just wanted to share
oh okay
🥺🥺🥺
FIRST OF ALL. cavetown is very mike wheeler coded. like i can name 3 songs off the top of my head (home, idea of her, it's u) that are mike wheeler so. thanks? for adding ANOTHER ONE? to my list.
also yay!!! i hope you enjoy (well... that might not be the right word) the rest of the fic!!!
literally though this analysis is so good like holy shit, that's it. also like super honored that you resonated enough with the way i portrayed mike in that fic and connected it to this song!!! it's just like... this song is such a raw expression and explanation of grief and mental health issues, and you literally hit the nail on the head with the analysis and where i was trying to go with all of mike's thoughts throughout his journey in this fic!
where were you when i was writing the fic so i could've put this on my playlist (kidding but wow seriously wish i had found this earlier? i LOVE IT)
now this is me trying to find a way to include it in the sequel fic. thinking thoughts.
thanks for this ask, my friend!!!! ❤️🫂

Unexpected Secret
Tumblr media
inspired by the tumblr post above!
this fic defies almost everyhting that is canon but its really cute and fluffy in my opinion so idc idc idc
Petra was furious.
I’m gonna kill her, Petra thought, mopping away the last of the dirt from the stables. I don’t care how but I’m going to make it look like an accident.
Petra was furious.
Putting her anger on the mop she had gripped in her fist she aggressively wiped the stable floors clean, but her thoughts were somewhere else. Y/N L/N was the reason why she was stuck cleaning the stables during a Friday night when she could’ve spent the day in the market with Oluo buying cute clothes or enjoying a new café or getting drunk or just about anything.
Petra loved her friend but no matter which way Petra tried to twist the situation, Y/N was the sole reason to blame. Y/N was the one who suggested getting drunk in her room that night, Y/N was the one who suggested the game, Y/N was the one who proposed the punishment, and Y/N was the one who called her a pussy for backing out, so of course Petra had to do it. Petra had to run through the hallway, from the stairway and back to the room naked.
It didn’t help that Y/N’s room was the farthest room from the stairwell. Petra didn’t have a problem getting naked around Y/N and their friends- they’ve seen each other’s bodies enough with the communal showers and the occasional first aid outside the walls. Petra isn’t ashamed of her own body either, she may look petite but she was hardened muscle from all the training she endured to become the one of the best. Though Y/N had her own private room as one of the Survey Corps’ Section Commander, her floor was also near the other superior’s private spaces.
Once Petra made it out, she dashed to the stairs as fast as she could before turning back and running like there was a titan behind her to the privacy and safety of Y/N’s room. Until Hange, Levi and Mike came out of Erwin’s room from their own private party only to stare at Petra like she was a dog with three heads.
Petra could’ve died right there. In fact, she would have preferred it if she did. Hange laughed (“Oh, it’s one of those nights, eh?), Levi looked away with disgust evident in his face and walked to another laughing Y/N, who witnessed the entire incident, instead. Mike just stood there with his brain probably short circuiting and nose occasionally twitching. To make matters worse, Erwin came outside to see what Hange was laughing about.
I’m gonna kill her, Petra thought, mopping away the last of the dirt from the stables. I don’t care how but I’m going to make it look like an accident.
Petra looked up from her hard work and wiped her forehead. She smelled like horse shit and probably looked like one too. A few yards away from her clean stable stood Y/N and Eren together under the sun with Mikasa not so far running towards them.
Petra watched as Mikasa hastily put herself between Y/N and Eren with a glare on her face. Was it really a glare or was it just Mikasa’s usual stoic face? Petra didn’t care- a plan was slowly starting to form in her head.
-
Petra didn’t bother rushing to the cafeteria to get first in line like she usually would. Instead she ate some heavy snacks before and took her time. Thinking back, Y/N was the only one out of her superiors to sit on another table other than the space designated for them. She usually sat with Eren, with Levi occasionally joining them.
Once she strolled inside, the place was packed with soldiers along with hundreds of conversations going on at the same time. Perfect. Just as she planned. Just as she thought, Y/N and Eren were chatting away alone on one table with Mikasa several tables away shooting them looks every now and then.
Petra smiled. Victory tastes so sweet. She slowed down her steps and savored her way to victory as she walked over to Mikasa. “Oi, Mikasa.” she said obnoxiously loud, gathering the attention of several people.
Mikasa turned her head from Eren and Y/N’s table, and stared at her with her cold gray eyes. “Yes, Petra?”
Petra giggled, unable to keep her mood down. “Y’know, Y/N told me a secret.” She said, voice getting louder with every word.
Behind her, Petra heard Y/N speak. “Done from the stables, darling?”
Faint snickers from around the hall erupted. No doubt the story has already gone around. Petra felt a nerve in her head pop. That almost got her. Almost.
Ignoring the rest of the people, Mikasa kept her eyes on her. “What did she say?”
She crouched down and put a hand on her cheek like she was about to whisper. “She told me that she loves Eren, very, very much.”
Silence.
Utter silence.
From the corner of her eye she sees that Sasha had a spoon halfway through her mouth filled with seconds of today’s dinner, while Jean and Connie’s eyes were darting back and forth to her and Y/N, who had gone up from her seat and was walking towards her.
Petra stood back and let herself smile a truly evil smile. That’s what you get, Y/N. You bitch. To be honest, Y/N was probably going to beat her up. Petra didn’t care. She could try if Mikasa won’t get to her first.
Mikasa blinked. “Well, I sure hope so. Eren and I love her just as much.”
Wait- “What?”
That wasn’t the reaction she was expecting.
“Oi, oi, Mikasa. You’re going to make your mother cry. I’ve never heard you speak like that before.” Y/N clasped a hand on Petra’s shoulder. Y/N had this smirk as if asking oh is this what you planned?
Huh, wait- “Mother? You mean-”
At the same time, Mikasa looked at Y/N. “Okasan, I have told you I loved you many times.”
“What do you mean okasan- are you-?” Petra turned her head to Y/N.
Y/N leaned shifted her weight on one leg and crossed her arms. She was smiling, probably enjoying Petra’s confusion. “Yes. I am.”
“But-” Petra stuttered. “Eren too?”
“Yes.” Y/N laughed. Petra should’ve been furious, but at this point she was too focused on solving this familial situation she accidentally uncovered. Plus, everyone was listening in. They were curious too.
Petra shoved her hands in her hair. “They’re siblings?”
“Well, I thought we’ve established that before.” Y/N replied.
“But I thought- Mikasa was charging at you because you were with Eren just a while ago!”
Y/N deflated. “Oh, that. I was scolding the brat. He was reckless during the last expedition again. You’d remember, you were the one who saved him.” Fuck. Yes, Petra remembered very well. She almost lost her right hand because of that boy. “Mikasa just came over to protect her brother. I might’ve gone overboard too…”
“Then why isn’t Mikasa sitting with you?”
“Oh, I’ve been encouraging her to interact with people other than family. She barely has friends, y’know.”
“Don’t they have different last names?” Petra asked. She was losing her sanity.
“What, Jeager? L/N was my dad’s. Jeager my mother’s name, I had him when I was young. And, well, technically, Mikasa isn’t mine by blood.” Y/N sat down beside the girl and slung her arm around Mikasa. “She came with my marriage. She’s still my daughter though.” Petra saw Mikasa hide a smile under her scarf.
“Married?” Petra asked. “You’re married?”
“Yup,” Y/N replied, popping her words. “When are you and Oluo gonna tie the knot, by the way-”
Petra couldn't even be bothered to blush at the question. She saw Oluo choke on his food from their usual table though. “Is he in the military?”
“Yes. We met years before he was in the military though.”
“Is he in the Survey Corps?”
Y/N grinned. “Yes.”
“Is he a superior officer?”
Y/N’s smile grew wider. “Yes.”
Petra felt dread creep down her spine. “Is it Commander Smith?” If Petra really did just try to call out the commander’s wife in front of everyone, she’s dead meat. She’s probably gonna clean the stables on Fridays forever.
To her relief Y/N said, “Pssh, Mikasa isn’t blonde y’know.”
Petra was losing her patience. “Then who the fuck is it-”
“They literally have the same last name Petra.”
Silence.
Only this time, Petra wasn’t smiling. Her brain was probably overheated from all the information Y/N gave her.
“Oi, Petra” said Levi who was coming inside the cafeteria. “What the hell is going on?”
“Captain!” She squeaked, not expecting his voice. Perfect timing too.
“Don’t tease her anymore, Levi. It’s my fault, I was just telling her about our familial situation.” Y/N said.
“Tch,” Levi lightly slapped Y/N at the back of her head. “What happened to keeping it a secret?”
“Oh, well, they were bound to know anyway. Your son over there can’t keep his mouth shut, I’m surprised he lasted this long.” Y/N nodded to Eren back to her table while the latter hid his face on the table, occasionally banging his fist on the wood. “Though I didn’t expect them to find out this way though...and the entire Survey Corps for that matter.”
“You’ve caused us a nuisance.” Levi deadpanned at Y/N- at his wife? Petra was still trying to comprehend everything.
“Let’s go home.” Levi announced, heading out of the cafeteria. “I can’t stand to be stared at any longer. It’s making me feel like a pig with fucking wings.”
At the words of their Captain- Father?- Mikasa and Eren stood up and picked up their empty food trays.
Oh, that's right. Petra knew that Y/N and Levi had a separate house somewhere near their HQ; she just didn’t even consider the possibility that they were living together. Fuck, she has seen them leaving too, but she just assumed that they were walking each other because they lived in the same neighborhood or something.
Petra even spotted Mikasa and Y/N together in the market shopping for vegetables, but she thought it was only a kind gesture. Y/N can be like that sometimes. She even spotted Eren and Levi inside a cleaning shop when she was buying a new mop once. And Mikasa and Levi’s surnames? Petra didn’t even suspect anything because it was common knowledge in the Corps that two of their strongest soldiers had the same last name- had none of them suspected anything?
Looking around, Petra spotted similar confused faces like her own. Ah, so no one did.
She felt her legs give up on her and plopped on the seat Mikasa previously sat on. She watched as Levi, Y/N, and their children walked out the cafeteria with a blank stare. What the fuck just happened?
btww,,,the vibe of reader and petra here are like really close friends that tease each other a lot. i can understand why people think that petra seems like the “villain” here but i swear its just that kind of friendship 😭 im sorry if it didnt deliver properly but ill try better next time !!

For a prompt listen to Looking Out For You by Joy Again
This one was a little tough because one part of the song it talks about a lover being with someone else, and I feel like this could really fit Mike so I didn’t really know what I was gonna do with that part but I figured it out (I’m also not a huge fan of song fics but I’ll do it for you)
I guess I should stop, looking out for you, like I always do
Mike looked longingly at Will from across his living room, and absolutely loves what he sees. Will’s talking to Lucas and Dustin on one of the couches near the tv and let’s out a loud laugh, tilting his head backwards.
El and Max are too busy making brownies in the kitchen so it’s not like Mike really has any company, so that may as well be an excuse to admire what he’s looking at.
The moment is amazing, in a way, because Will is ok. The party is ok.
Mike’s not doing well though. Not for any specific reason. Maybe he feels ignored?
When will you start, looking out for me too, instead of leaving me
But he wishes that as much as he checks on Will, he wishes that Will would do the same for him.
Because it feels like whenever he asks Will how he’s doing, he says he’s fine and he walks away.
It kind of feels like they’re drifting apart.
But maybe that’s why he cry’s himself to sleep at night.
Staring at my shoes, it’s just the way you’re glancing at me
Mike desperately hopes that he’s just overreacting because Mike is drawn to Will. Like he’s desperate for anything Will is willing to give him.
Even just Will looking at him in that specific way that he still can’t put a name on.
Will makes Mike nervous, but in the best way possible.
Something about you, just makes me guilty, for liking you
Mike knows that he likes Will. Hell might even be in love with him because there’s so much to love about him, and apart of him is happy because it feels like they belong together. Like the universe shaped the both of them in this special way, just for each other.
It’s like they’re made for each other, but he still feels this heavy feeling in his chest and it doesn’t feel pleasant. He knows what it is and why he’s feeling it though.
It’s guilt. He feels guilt because Will has been through so much and Mike can’t compare to that.
Will has faced homophobia for years. Nearly 12 years, getting called slurs and people telling him that he’s such a waste of space and that he’s gonna rot in hell. Especially from his own fucking father. Mike hasn’t received nearly any homophobic remarks.
Yeah, he’s been called Will’s boyfriend a handful of times but no ones ever exactly come at him for being gay.
He knows he can’t control it, but that doesn’t make him not guilty for it.
Will came out as gay 2 years ago, yeah, but that doesn’t mean he would automatically like Mike.
That’s more of dejection or grief or shame than guilt.
When you’re with him, when you’re with him.
It’s not like anyone is in the way of them or anything. Not really.
Mike’s head is just filled with a bunch of thoughts of “there’s so much better guys than me, why would he like me?”
And it just hurts seeing Will having so much fun with other people. Like right now, Will’s laughing at something Lucas is explaining and he’s finally happy, which Mike is so thankful for.
But Mike wishes that he was the one making him happy, but he’s not, and besides, Will has been ignoring him quite a bit lately anyways.
What if he realized that Mike liked him and is trying to keep his distance because he doesn’t want to make him feel awkward about his unrequited crush?
This is a love song for a boy, who will never know it’s about him
Mike did end up telling someone about it. Actually, scratch that, someone found out.
Steve and Robin. And maybe the others do know, but the others never actually went up to talk to him about it like Steve and Robin did.
And they supported him, and he’s glad.
When they first talked to him about it he tried denying it, which didn’t work, but he then admitted it and went off for an hour and a half and he regrets it so much. He doesn’t want to be a bother, and that memory made him realize just how much of his emotions he bottles up.
So he bought himself a journal, and he’s glad he did.
He writes just about anything in it, whatever he can think of. Including his pent up feelings about Will, but he never says his name so even if Will does end up getting to it, he won’t know it’s about him because he never said who the boy was.
He’ll only have to worry about Will finding out he’s also gay. Thankfully.
I know it’s pretty stupid, but I’m much too shy to tell her
He could tell Will. He knows Will won’t get mad, but he still doesn’t want to risk it.
If not risking it means he’ll still be able to keep Will even if it’s not in the way he wants, then so be it.
He is beaming that smile, all the while, I’m all choked up on my own throat
Mike starts to lay back on the couch and thinks about everything that’s perfect about Will.
His hazel eyes that have a few green spots in them, how they sometimes show so much pain but also show happiness.
His cute smile that could light up a room and make everyone inside it smile.
His fit legs and arms because he works out sometimes and joined track with Lucas last year.
His ass that he kind of really wants to either grab or smack.
His personality because he can be super sweet but he can also judge and roast the shit out of you because he’s one sassy little shit.
His hair that’s pretty long, no longer his bowlcut (that only he could rock) but shoulder-length hair that he sometimes puts in a messy bun or a ponytail.
His presence. His beauty. Everything.
Mike could cry just because Will is so damn gorgeous.
Mike and Will don’t talk much but when they do, it’s never about them. It’s always about someone else and it fucking sucks and it makes Mike want to sink in the floor, or maybe to fade away.
Mike really wants to tell Will but he doesn’t know if he can. It’s too hard.
But as Mike gets up off the couch and tells them that he’s gonna go get some fresh air he thinks. Thinks about how he would tell him, and the moment he’s yards away from his house.
He figures it out. He hopes for the best.

I'll Make It Okay for You - Part 1
Pairing: Harvey Specter x Reader
Word count: 3,666
Warnings: Discussion, yelling, some angst, mentions of drugs, and drug abuse.
Summary: What happens when (y/n) (y/l/n), Harvey’s secret crush and a junior partner at his firm, openly defies him in front of everyone?
You can find Part 2 here.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the show Suits, or its characters, also not associated with it in any way or know anyone involved with it.
A/N: So, this is my first Harvey Specter fic and I’m obviously quite unsure about it, lol. This might’ve ended up like one big mess, cause I tried to combine a bunch of Harveys I wanted to see. The perfect recipe for disaster, right? Anyways, I hope it doesn’t suck too bad and, please, feel free to give me feedback, cause I’m also here to learn!!
(y/n) = (your name) (y/l/n) = (your last name) (y/n/n) = (your nickname)

Tumblr media
You’d barely stepped out of the elevator when you were met by your secretary that morning. That couldn’t mean anything good.
“Morning, (y/n/n). You’ve got an emergency meeting with Jessica today. Gonna give you the schedule on the way there.” Lucy stated, leading you on the opposite way to Jessica’s office.
“Oh, I got the memo; company’s under attack again. She wants me on the frontlines this time. Louis is probably running around saying ‘We’re at war, people, war!!!’, or something like that. But why aren’t we headed towards the boss’ office?”
“Apparently, uh, she wants y’all to convey at Harvey’s office.” She said hesitantly, as if afraid of your reaction.
“Are you kidding me? It’s the first hour of the morning and she wants me to go see that smug face of his?” You pouted childishly.
“Smug and hot, you mean.” Lucy corrected you, getting an outraged look from you in response, as she usually would by saying anything positive about Specter.
“Shush,” You said, motioning for her to stop talking, “ one shall not praise Harvey Annoying Specter around me.” You stated full of obstination, but the younger woman just laughed you off and said:
“Well, here we are. I guess I’ll just have to send you an e-mail with your schedule, since, once again, we spent our schedule minutes of the day talking about “the enemy”.” She mocked with gestures and everything this time. That Lucy really was a piece of work, she timed the whole thing perfectly, in a way that you couldn’t even repudiate her insinuations because you were already standing in front of Specter’s office door.
Not long after you had entered and Jessica had officially started the strategy-meeting, though, all eyes in the room turned to you, as your phone started ringing in your back pocket. "Shit! I'm- I'm so sorry, guys, I guess I-"
"Can you please take your job seriously for once in your life, (y/l/n)?" You heard Harvey Pain-In-The-Ass Specter rudely remark, as you tried to swallow your embarrassment.
“Well, like I was trying to say, I’m sorry. Gonna turn it off right now, won’t happen again.” You said, directing your apologetic look to Jessica.
“You should just go ahead and answer it, could be something important.” She calmly told you.
“Especially now that you’ve already interrupted our work.” Specter chipped in again, which just gave you more fuel to answer the goddamn phone.
“Hello, yeah this is her.” You confirmed to the man on the phone, while taking a few steps towards the corner of the room. “What??? Are you sure? Oh my God! O- okay, just tell me which one and I’ll be there as soon as possible! Right, thank you.” Everyone’s eyes were on you, trying to understand what made you look so distressed. Except his, of course.
“Wait a second. Are you leaving right now?” He asked with a mix of annoyance and irritation in his voice.
“Yes, I am. I’m sorry, Jessica, but this is a family emergency. I have to go.”
“Well, I just hope you know that this doesn’t look good for you, (y/n).” She said, voice inexpressive.
“I do and, honestly? I couldn’t care less about that right now.” You firmly told her, while hoping your career wasn’t over by the next morning.
“I hope everything goes well for you and your family, (y/n). If you need anything, and I mean anything, just let me know.” Louis told you with that childish smile of his. Jesus, even in a moment like this, he tried to flirt with you.
“Thank you, Louis. That’s very kind.” You faked a tiny smile.
“Unbelievable.”
“What?” You asked, turning back to face Harvey.
“Your firm is under attack and you’re leaving because of some stupid family crap?” Was he even serious?
“Precisely. And I don’t really care what your thoughts are on it. Our priorities are clearly very different.” Who the hell did he think he was to say anything about your family’s issues?
“Well, that shouldn’t matter because, the minute you walk in here, through those elevators out there, you’re supposed to leave all things personal behind.”
“Oh, right. I’m so sorry that I’m not some heartless lawyer like you, who’s just in it for the petty fights in the name of money-making.” Shit. You needed to get the hell out of there before you said something else to make Specter wanna kick you out himself. So you did. Stormed out like there was no tomorrow, leaving nothing but the very shocked Donna, Jessica, Louis, Mike, and Rachel behind. Oh, yeah, and a very pissed-off Harvey Specter.
Okay, maybe you were a little too harsh, but given the place you needed to go, to do what you needed to do, you didn't care about Harvey, your job, or anything else.
---
It was much later on that same day, around dinner time, that you heard a soft knock on your door. But how could someone be at your door, if the doorman downstairs hadn't announced any visitors? Were you dreaming? Well, the day had been so tiring that that wasn't exactly impossible… Nonetheless, you made your way to the door, whilst holding your very needy three-year-old nephew in your arms. Not that you could blame Henry after the day he’d had.
Since you weren’t expecting anyone, it was reasonable to believe that, whoever it was, was going to be a surprise. But not in a million years would have you ever guessed that Harvey Specter was the one knocking at your door. Especially considering what had happened at the firm earlier. How did he even know your address?
“Hi, (y/l/n). I didn’t know you had a kid.” He stated with a bit of surprise of his own, pointing to the little boy you were carrying.
“No, uh, I don’t have any.” You managed to say, trying to control your shocked expression. “This is my nephew.” You clarified again, a little more at ease this time.
“My name’s Henry. What’s yours?” You heard your nephew ask with his cute child-voice.
“Harvey. It’s, uh, it’s very nice to meet you, Henry.” Harvey told the boy, holding out his hand for him to shake, as a sweet smile came to his lips.
“Is he your friend, auntie (y/n/n)?” Henry asked you hesitantly, before making a move. The Don’t Talk to Strangers Rule must’ve kicked in his mind.
Before answering him, you hesitated a little bit yourself, though. Was Harvey your friend? Obviously not, but if he came to your apartment in the middle of the night like this, it was probably because of something important. Work-related, of course. Which meant you’d have to let him in, so you settled for what would be the easiest classification for a three-year-old.
“Yeah, bud, he is my friend from work.” Hearing that, something in Specter’s eyes changed, you didn’t really know what, though.
“Well, then, can he come play with us?” He gave you such a cute look, that you almost said yes right on cue. But you obviously couldn’t.
“You’d have to ask him, but I’m sure he has a lot of other, more important, things to do now.” You tried to explain to the little boy, giving Harvey a look. But you didn’t get too far, as the lawyer quickly said:
“Of course I wanna go play with you! That is if your auntie’s okay with that…” Now he was mocking you, that was the only explanation.
“Can we play with him, then, auntie (y/n/n)? Please, please, please?” God, what horrible thing could’ve you possibly done to deserve this particular punishment?
“Um, I guess... If he really has nothing better to do-” Harvey didn’t even let you finish your sentence.
“I really don’t.” He said, shooting you and Henry a bright smile that you’d never seen before.
“Okay, then, come in. Please disregard the mess, I got this stuff to make dinner, but someone just won’t detach, right, mister?” You asked your nephew with fake annoyance in your voice, as you tickled his sides a little bit. He just laughed at you. Though what really caught your attention was the fact that Harvey, too, was chuckling lightly at the scene, as he started picking up your groceries’ bags from the floor. “What are you doing?”
“Helping you, what else?” You gave him a weird look because, well, it was a weird situation. Maybe he noticed your discomfort because he added: “You look tired, so I’ll help you by making dinner and putting the rest of these away.”
“You’re kidding, right?” There was no way in hell that the All-Mighty Harvey Specter was gonna get domestic for you, of all people. Since he didn’t bother to answer, you went on: “First of all, what was it that you really came here to do, hum? And, second, I don’t need your help with anything.” Normally you tried to be kind to everyone, but, then again, Specter wasn’t exactly your normal kind of guy.
“Well, first of all,” he started in a tone of mockery, “that was rude! Look at the example you’re setting for little Henry!” Oh God, as much as you hated to admit it, he was kinda right, because you had completely forgotten about the little boy still cradled in your arms. “Second, we can talk about the reason why I came here later,” after your nephew’s asleep, was implicit in his speech, “third, it looks like you do need some help. And, for your luck, I happen to be a very good cook when I want to.”
“But-” You could barely begin your sentence, as Harvey sharply cut you off:
“You see, buddy,” he started, motioning to Henry this time, “the quicker we get your auntie on board with the game plan, the quicker we’ll get to eat and go play together!” Son of a bitch! Using a child to get to you…
“Can we please, auntie? Please?” How could you not crack after that pleading?
“Fine, but I swear I’ll make you pay if we wake up with food poisoning tomorrow, Specter.” You told him playfully, trying to lighten the mood after all of your bluntness.
“Oh, trust me, (y/l/n), you won’t. This will be the best meal you and the young man here will ever have in your entire lives.” He said cockily, but without the usual arrogance level, if that even makes sense.
A few hours and a really great dinner later, you and Henry couldn’t help but snicker shamelessly at Harvey’s ridiculous faces, as the three of you played a game on your living room’s floor. Trying to catch your breath from your giggles, you glanced up at the clock and realized that it was way too late for your nephew to be out of bed like that. So you broke up the game, announcing:
“It’s bedtime for you, Mr. Henry.” You watched the faces of the pair turn into ones of pure disappointment, as they prepared to pout.
“Just a little longer, auntie (y/n/n)! please!” The little boy started.
“Yeah, auntie, just a little longer! Please?” This time it was the grown man, one of the toughest Wall Street lawyers.
“As moved as I am by your synchrony, guys, the answer is a big no. C’mon, bud, let’s go brush your teeth. And then straight to bed. So say bye to Harvey, and thank him for being so nice to us tonight.” He looked between you and Specter as if still hoping for a hail Mary of some sort.
“Bye, Harvey.” He sounded so sad, but then he smiled brightly again, as he repeated what you’d told him to say word by word: “And thank you for being so nice to us tonight.” Hearing that, both you and Harvey chuckled lightly at the young boy, who quickly added: “Will you come see us tomorrow too?”
“Uh, we’ll, uh, we’ll see about that, okay, little man?” He tried to let Henry down slowly but, watching the boy’s expression become a sad one instantly, he added: “It’s just because both your auntie and I have a lot of work ahead of us tomorrow, but I’ll do my best, okay?” That was definitely a side of Harvey you’d never seen before, he had even bent down to be on your nephew’s level.
“Okay.” Henry said quietly, seeming to be a little happier, too.
“Okay, then let’s just go upstairs already.” You took the boy’s hand to guide him towards the spare bedroom’s bathroom, all the while shooting Specter a look that told him to wait for you a little longer.
“I’ll wait for you down here.” He said, proving he understood what your eyes tried to transmit.
So you headed upstairs with your nephew and, after a good fifteen minutes of brushing Henry’s teeth, helping him into his PJs, and tucking him in, you finally managed to come back to the living room, where you found Harvey looking through some of your photos displayed on the sideboard. For a minute or two, you just watched him. It wasn’t that you liked what you saw or anything. It wasn’t. It was more like postponing the weird conversation you two were bound to have, because, after all that had happened in those few hours, the atmosphere was, at very least, a strange one. But, almost as if he’d felt your gaze on his back, the lawyer in him was switched on, and he interrupted your thoughts by saying:
“Ah, you’re back. Good, because we need to talk.” You just motioned for him to follow you into your home office. But both you and Harvey looked so informal to be in that kind of environment, that you just indicated the small couch on the wall opposite to your desk for you to take your seats in.
“So, uh, before you even say anything, I wanna thank you for being so kind tonight,” a small smile came to your lips, as you remembered, not only the evening but how your nephew had used almost those exact same words, already imitating you, a little earlier. Specter smiled too, you noticed. “and I also wanna apologize. If you came here to talk to me… I must’ve made you waste a lot of time, huh?” You tried with a half-smile this time, as embarrassment started taking over you.
“What? No, of course not! I'm pretty sure that I told you I didn't have anything better to do, didn't I?" He calmly asked with a smile.
"Yeah, but I'm not buying it. You're Harvey Specter, isn't that what you're always saying? And Harvey Specter always has something better to do, isn't that right?" You shot back in a mockery tone, regaining your confidence.
"Well, maybe. But, not today. So don't apologize, and don't thank me. I'm the one who should be thanking you, I had a really good time tonight." Okay, now you were shocked. He had a good time?
"Uh, okay, um, so... What was so urgent that you had to come here in the middle of the night?" You nervously ranted, while tugging your hair behind your ears. He just stared at you, so much so that you almost repeated your question.
"Um, yeah, about this morning… That's why I came here…" You were already guessing that that would come up eventually, but it was the topic of your conversation? "I know that you and I always had our differences, and maybe even some rivalry-"
"Some rivalry? Dude, I'm just a junior partner, and ever since I started on that firm you've been persecuting me-"
"I wouldn't say persecuting…"
"Oh, you wouldn't?"
"Not since you made junior partner anyways. Now it's just a healthy rivalry between work friends…" He tried to use what you’d told your nephew earlier.
"Oh, so you do admit you were persecuting me when I was an associate, huh?"
"Shit." He muttered quietly, as you watched him with a victory smile on your lips. "You know what? Hell yeah, I did persecute you when you were an associate." Hearing that blunt admission of guilt, you just couldn't find anything to say. “You wanna know why? I did that because, from the first time I saw you doing your job, I saw this very thing that I see now: you kicking ass, you think I wanted to admit this to you? I’ll answer it myself: no, I didn’t. The only reason why it happened is that you led me to it.” He blurted out, completely knocking you off your socks.
“So, um, you treated, you treat me like shit because, um, because I’m good?” You asked, still unsure of what to think about his confession.
“Well, that was part of it, sure. So, you see, I could understand it when you weren’t particularly thrilled at the perspective of working with me. But, this morning, you said that I’m a heartless guy who only cares about money… Is that really what you think of me?” This time he sounded genuinely sad? When Harvey said that he’d come to your apartment to talk about that morning, you thought he was gonna reprimand the shit out of you for disrespecting him ⎯ your sort of boss, a senior partner ⎯, but, apparently, he was asking about it on a more personal level. A level you’d never really thought played a part in your relationship with him.
“Oh, Harvey…”
“Be honest, please. I don’t want your pity. You don’t even know me all that well, so don’t try to minimize anything. I can take it.”
“That’s not what I was gonna do. And, trust me, you’re probably the last person in the world I’d pity.” You told him with a sly smile. “You’re right. I don’t know you all that well. Or, at least, I didn’t this morning. But I do know that you’re not heartless. Also, I was really out of line then, I’ve seen you fighting tooth and nail for a lot more than just money in that firm. You’re loyal to your firm and friends like no one else and, tonight, I watched you sitting on the floor and playing with a little boy. And, trust me, that meant more to him than you’d ever know, especially after today… Anyways, what I’m really trying to say is that I was so damn wrong and that I’m sorry. I’d gotten some pretty nerve-racking news beforehand, not that that’s an excuse but...” You told him, meaning every word and trying hard to show how much you regretted your previous actions.
“Wait, what news?”
“Ah, it’s nothing for you to worry about, really.” You tried to brush him off.
“Oh, c’mon! You said all those nice things about me, but when it comes to your life and your problems you still don’t trust me, isn’t that right?” His tone was sharply inexpressive, but his eyes showed he was actually hurt.
“What are you talking about? Oh my God, Harvey! I’ve relied on you for a number of cases that I really cared about! I let you in on my apartment! I let you spend an entire night around my nephew! Of course, I trust you!”
“Then what the hell is the problem? You think I’m not gonna give a damn about your family issues? Is that it? Because I am literally begging you to tell me about them!”
“I don’t wanna tell you because I don’t want you, or anyone else on the firm, to think that I’m some pathetic little girl who uses her family issues as an excuse to get out of a tough fight.” You confessed in a lower tone, slightly embarrassed, just hoping he would understand and stop poking. “Things are very different when you’re a woman, you know…”
“I would never think that about you. Family is important. Especially if it’s made of people like Henry…” He said, reassuring you, even though there was a hint of sadness in his voice. “Besides, you said you trust me, so you need to trust me when I say that I wouldn’t betray you by telling people about your problems. I’m not here as your boss, (y/n). I just wanna help you.” He sounded so sincere and, if you were being honest with yourself, you kinda really needed to vent.
“Okay, um, where to start? I have two sisters: Henry’s mother, Kat, and a fifteen-year-old, Lisa. I’m the older one of all three of us. Lisa’s sick, like very sick, so my parents, who are both retired, are with her at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, to try and get her better. In the meantime, Kat was supposed to go to college, as well as care for her son, between my parents and me, she wouldn’t even need to provide for them or anything. But, a while ago, she overdosed for the first time. That’s when we found out about her addiction. We’ve already tried a million different things but nothing works. So, my parents and I threatened to make her lose her parental rights over Henry, hoping that it’d be a wake-up call for her, but it backfired. She just took the boy and disappeared, then today I get that call, from the police department, saying that she was in custody for drug distribution and endangering the well-fare of a minor. They asked me to go pick my nephew and, maybe, get Kat a lawyer.” And, just like that, you’d told Harvey Specter, of all people, everything. Tears rolling down your cheeks and him pulling you into a hug.
If anyone had told you that that was how your night was gonna go, you would have definitely laughed them out of the room. But now, just sitting there, being held and caressed by Harvey, as you let your armor down, it was finally beginning to look like things were gonna be okay.

If Glee did a Taylor Swift Tribute Episode...
Just my opinions, feel free to add on to them. I know I have some fellow gleek swifties following me. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Obviously they have to do some of the hits but I think some people would have some out of the box picks.
*This post assumes all Taylor songs are available to choose from as of May 14th 2021 but focuses on Taylor’s first 6 albums (if you want more glee and Taylor I have fics with that; LOVER and FOLKLORE) and takes liberties with where this episode’s placement is in terms of canon. But since it’s all made up anyway who cares (but Blaine’s involved so I guess season 3 idk).*
Okay, trying to do a full plot here (completely inspired by @kurtdeservesbetter head canon posts. I hope this lives up to her fabulous posts). This will be my version of glee so everyone gets solos and Rachel can’t hog the spotlight. Also, this is about to be super long (both post wise and episode wise).
Let’s open the first episode with
...Ready For It because the New Directions are in their reputation era. Santana does the opening cough centerstage. Everyone in black and/or camo green outfits (can you just see Kurt in a dark green bedazzled snake jacket, Santana in a black leather dress, and Tina digging out some goth clothes for people to borrow?), snakes everywhere, but probably no Karyn (she just wouldn’t fit on the auditorium stage). Santana takes the first verse but we have Blaine step up for verse 2. (I just love their friendship in the Michael tribute, cute little badasses are BACK. Also him singing “Burton to this Taylor” is such a Klaine thing to do).
Everyone is still dressed in their rep outfits but we’re in the choir room now. Mr. Schue is talking about why Taylor had to disappear and clap back with rep, how rough the industry is for women and tries to uplift the ladies in the room and encourage them to not silence their voices (cue snarky comment from Santana about Rachel needing to be silent).
Then, Mr. Schue goes on about how you can only understand how Taylor got to her rep era by studying her earlier music. So we have a performance of Tim McGraw. Simple, front of the choir room performance, maybe Puck does guitar, and sitting on stools.
Everyone is surprised to find out how pumped Sam is for this assignment but he is all over it. “It's about time we did some country in this room.” Cue Sam and Quinn at her locker talking about their ‘date’ last night, Sam’s all cute and teasing and Quinn is not into it. She tells him it was fun but she was wrong, they shouldn’t do this again. In turn, he does a wonderful performance of Bye Bye Baby. He thought it was more but clearly he’s “a part of her past.”
Then, we’re in the empty choir room. Tina and Mike are there. (I love their cutesy duets) They sing Everything Has Changed and it’s utterly adorable. Can’t you hear Mike asking Tina if she’s “good to go” like Ed does? And while we’re on the subject of cute duets and RED, we flash to the courtyard to see Santana and Brittany. They turn Stay Stay Stay into a duet. “I’ve been loving you for quite some time,” “before you I only dated self-indulgent takers who took all their problems out on me,” “no one else is gonna love me when I’m mad, mad, mad,” and “it’s occurring to me that I’d like to hang out with you for my whole life” it’s perfect for them. Adorable ladies kisses are had.
Let’s toss in some boy drama for fun. Idk shit about football but somehow Puck is praised by their coach over Finn, which gets him all pissy, and Puck’s upset and jealous because Finn is back with Quinn now (this is why Quinn shut Sam now earlier, she changed her mind). Can we say duet of Bad Blood? “So if you’re coming my way...just don’t.”
After their dramatics, we have a Brittany solo in the choir room. It’s after school at this point (or whenever glee club is). Brittany does You’ll Always Find You Way Back Home.
When she finishes Mr. Schue tries to explain that it’s a Hannah Montana song. Britt injects that it’s confusing how she’s really Miley Cryus “like how can you be two people at once?”. Before Mr. Schue can continue, Kurt pipes up “you never specified that the songs had to be sung by Taylor Swift, just that they were her songs.” Mercedes adds, “yeah, Mr. Schue, Taylor wrote that song.” Mr. Schue concedes that he has once again been outwitted by Kurtcedes. The friends do their little hand shake thing.
With a sigh, Mr. Schue asks Mike if he’s ready to go and Mike asks to take things to the auditorium for some dancing room. Everyone’s on stage with him and it’s kind of a group number but Mike is the focus. It’s Shake It Off. All inspired by the music video. He’s tried to fit in elsewhere (i.e. football, with the smart kids, etc..) but he’s really himself in glee when he’s dancing.
Part 2 of Taylor Tribute Episodes
We begin with an ALL GIRL NUMBER of A Place In This World. Just because.
Glee is dismissed and we zoom in on Artie. He’s watching Tina with Mike and Brittany with Santana. Both Tina and Britt have broken his heart by this point. So, he’s rolling down the halls singing A Perfectly Good Heart. While Artie’s soloing, we cut to Rachel watching Finn and Quinn chatting. Artie’s song playing over this scene. Rachel is feeling similar to him at the moment.
She’s pretty sure Finn dumped her to be with Quinn again even though Kurt and Blaine told her they saw Quinn and Sam at the movies last night together making out in the back row. Fine, if that’s how he’s going to be, she doesn’t need him anyway. Cue Mr. Perfectly Fine. Uber dramatic solo performance walking around McKinley’s halls watching Finn and Quinn together ending in the auditorium alone. (see what I did there, both broken hearted peeps singing a song with Perfectly in it (this was not at all planned, actually, happy accident))
After some good old heartbreak, we have Kurt and Blaine on screen. Blaine walks into the auditorium to see Kurt sitting on the edge of the stage. “What’s all the fuss?” he asks from the door. Kurt had texted him “EMERGENCY.” The band starts to play and Kurt just starts singing, Enchanted. It’s time to profess their love for each other, just like they sing Perfect together in the car, this duet needs no audience. Blaine catches up and sings while walking towards his boyfriend. It’s very reminiscent of past New Directions competitions where they come in from the back and make their way to the stage. “Wondering if you knew I was enchanted to meet you?” Kurt and Blaine both know the answer to that question now but just a few months ago they were both wondering that exact thing.
They kiss before we cut to Kurt and Blaine walking hand in hand into the choir room where everyone else is already. Mr. Schue is praising the performances thus far and of course asks Rachel if she’s ready to solo (some practice for her completion solo). This causes an uproar from Mercedes and Santana. Another classic argument of how she gets too many solos. Mr. Schue tries to shut them both down but Santana tells Rachel to watch her back, and we get three very different reactions to this.
All three girls storm out.
First, we visit Mercedes alone in the courtyard. This solo is all about being hurt over this great thing in her life (glee) and her being denied happiness within that club. Thus, Cold As You. (mostly to indulge myself because she’d blow us away with this song).
Next, Rachel in the auditorium. A huge bridge on stage (very Speak Now Tour of her), belting out Better Than Revenge. Santana’s dropped the last straw (the humiliation, name calling, Finn at one point and now solos,) it’s too much this time.
And finally, Santana walking around McKinley, showing us flashes of Rachel ‘outshining’ her and the rest of glee and Mr. Schue being unfair, while singing Look What You Made Me Do.
Tina walks out at the same time as Rachel, Mercedes, and Santana but no one seems to put two and two together. She feels just as underutilized as the latter two do. She ends up in an empty classroom and sings The Outside. “Nobody ever lets me in” and “on the outside looking in.”
Once the 3, err 4, divas have left the room, Finn sticks up for Rachel. Quinn, of course, has something to say about this along the lines of “you always defend her.” Finn, intimated by her ‘scary Quinn’ fumbles and blurts “because she’s my girlfriend” WHICH IS NOT TRUE AT THIS POINT. Quinn dumps him on the spot, cuts quickly to Blaine and Kurt sharing some ‘oh my god, can you believe this’ expressions, and vanishes from the room.
By this point, Rachel is long gone from the auditorium but the bridge is still there.
Here’s where we go way off script but imagine, Quinn has decided to just quit boys. They’ve all failed her anyway, she’s better off being alone. She walks up the bridge and thinks to herself “god Rachel’s so dramatic, where did this thing even come from” before it hits her “fuck, I’m as bad as Finn. I want her.” Then, she starts singing Clean to herself in the auditorium, likely tearing up throughout and ending with a good cry. (Because Dianna would DELIVER with Clean.)
While Quinn is having a sexuality crisis, the rest of glee is still happening. They’re discussing upcoming competition and debating solos and songs.
Kurt’s all: “Mr. Schue, if I may” and performs a lovely rendition of Call It What You Want. Those opening lines are too good. “My castle (ie McKinley) crumbled overnight, brought a knife to a gun fight (ie couldn’t fight off Dave Karofsky), “I’m doing better than I ever was ‘cause my baby’s fit like a daydream,” and “at least I did one thing right.” When he’s done, Blaine’s a mess in the back of the choir room, and Mr. Schue says: “not really what we’re looking for but very nice, Kurt” however, Kurt’s too busy sitting beside Blaine teasing him about blushing.
Then, the missing girls return to the room having sung out their emotions. Quinn, having realized her feelings for Rachel, ends up soloing You Belong With Me to the New Directions in the choir room. Odd looks all around, no one knows what’s up with her and why does she keep glancing at Rachel? (Faberry just fit so well I had to add it, don’t know if I’m a shipper or not but it’s here now) (also thanks to @spicygemini for pointing out the obvious “Quinn would have ate YBWY”).
Mr. Schue wants to move the group to the audition to perform their final number of the Taylor Swift tribute well but Tina asks to sing first. He’s surprised but allows it, taking a seat with the rest of the New Directions.
Tina sings Beautiful Ghosts. “Watch from the dark, wait for my life to start” because New Directions is refusing to use her talents AGAIN. She’s singing this to Rachel and the girls who were in the Treble Tones. Because she absolutely SMASHES this number, the glee kids agree she gets solo for their next competition (and they deliver on that promise).
To conclude Part 2 of the Taylor tribute episode, we have a group performance of Long Live. “One day we will be remembered”, “all the years we stood there on the sidelines wishing for right now”, “for a moment a band of thrives in ripped up jeans got to rule the world” ie wining completions, “when they look at the pictures please tell them my name...”

Wish You Were Sober
pairing; Reddie
word count; 4k
summary; Eddie is tired of Richie flirting like a madman whenever he gets alcohol in his system.
a/n; so i decided i’m making a kind of series of reddie fics i write based on songs, bc i’m the type of bitch that listens to any music or intakes any kind of media and thinks “iMagiNe tHiS bUt rEdDiE<333″ so ya there’s that lol. here’s a lil angsty one shot based on wish you were sober by conan gray, aka a superior song if u ask me. as always, read on ao3 here if you’d like and enjoy ! :)
Nirvana blared through the speakers and traveled throughout the too small apartment owned by some random guy in one of Richie’s classes. Richie didn’t know him too well - he thinks his name is Chris? Collin? Something with a ‘C’ - but, hey, a party’s a party, and free booze is free booze.
The trashmouth was chatting loudly over the music with Bill on a dingy leather couch, waiting for Stan and Eddie to return with more drinks. Richie was already significantly further along than his friends in terms of his drunken state, all obnoxious laughs interrupted by hiccups and long, gangly limbs flailing more wildly than usual. It almost should be concerning to the other Losers, having only been at the party for less than a couple hours and their friend already being long gone, but it was what they were used to. Since they were 15 and stealing liquor from their parents, the Losers constantly saw Richie’s “go big or go home” attitude with drinking. They assumed it was just Richie wanting to be the life of the party and center of attention, whether that meant going shot for shot with Mike, accepting any type of drinking related dare from Beverly, etc.
Richie let them believe this, because it was better than telling them the truth. It was easier than admitting to them that around the same time he started sneaking a copious amount of vodka from the Tozier’s alcohol stash, he was also realizing certain feelings he had for a certain Loser.
Richie Tozier loved Eddie Kaspbrak. Richie was sure it was just one of those basic laws of the universe, one that’s impossible to ignore and inevitable to come to pass. Despite this, living in a small town like Derry meant getting the shit kicked out of you if you even look at another guy for too long, soulmates or inescapable love or whatever be damned. Richie had gotten beatdowns left and right from neighborhood bullies for being a “faggot” before he even knew what the word meant, so he, unfortunately, knew this from personal experience.
But now, sitting in an apartment in Manhattan of all places, attending NYU with three out of six of his best friends, away from those assholes in Derry, Richie thought he’d loosen up. Let himself be brave.
He soon learned that was easier said than done; who knew what 19 years of internalized homophobia could do to a man?
It’s not like he was afraid of being more of an outcast; he was already a loser with a capital “L,” and he, along with the rest of his friends, carried the title like it was given to them by the Queen herself. Deep down Richie knew the rest of the Losers wouldn’t even bat an eye at the fact that he liked dudes the way he should have liked girls, so he wasn’t afraid of losing them either. And deep, deep down, Richie also knew there wasn’t really anything wrong with him. Why would he feel such a way if it was supposed to be such an unnatural and vile thing? He couldn’t help who he was, who or how he loved, and God, he loved Eddie so much he thought he could just burst with it sometimes.
That shred of acceptance, though, was buried so deep in his lanky form, and the only way to reach it was through a ridiculous amount of shots. Or beers. Or just about anything with a decent alcohol content, really. He’d even settle with wine if he had to.
When Richie was drunk, he was able to be more clingy and face less consequences. He was already an affectionate guy, constantly pinching Eddie’s cheeks and throwing a lazy arm around the shorter man’s shoulders whenever he could. With alcohol, though, he’d give sloppy cheek kisses and intertwine his fingers with Eddie’s and allow his face to form a subtle blush when an intoxicated Eddie would lean into it.
“Sorry for being all over ya last night, Eds. You know how gross and clingy I can get,” he’d say the following morning, and then they’d fall back into their rhythm of bickering and ‘your mom’ jokes. Business as usual, like clockwork every time they’d get wasted.
Richie thought it was going well, that his feelings were going totally unnoticed, that he was stealth. Until this particular college party, that is.
Richie’s attention left his conversation with Bill about the newest Die Hard film when he felt the couch sink next to him, turning to meet eyes with a mildly tipsy Eddie. The taller man’s face immediately lit up, a goofy smile spreading across his chapped lips.
“Hiya, Spagheds! What’s cookin, good lookin’?” Richie slurred out, his arm finding its way around Eddie’s waist and using his other hand to snatch the mixed drink his friend was holding out for him. Eddie responded with his usual scoff and eyeroll, but Richie noted an extra bite to it that he wasn’t used to getting from him.
“Don’t call me that, asshole! And haven’t you ever heard of personal space?” Eddie grumbled, wiggling himself out of Richie’s side embrace and putting some distance between the two. The arm that was once around Eddie made its way to Richie’s own body as he dramatically grasped at his chest.
“Eddie, baby, you’ve wounded me! Since when do you pass up some signature Tozier cuddles?” Richie was met with a simple huff in response as Eddie avoided his gaze. Richie’s eyebrows furrowed together in confusion at the lack of attention he was receiving from the man who would usually be giving him the most attention, but he was overall too drunk to overthink. With a shrug, Richie downed his freshly made drink in record timing before crunching the plastic cup in his hand and tossing it over his shoulder, causing Eddie to scoff again from next to him. Stan spoke up from beside Bill before Eddie could ream his friend about his lack of care for tidiness.
“Maybe you should start on some water, huh, Rich?” Richie gasped dramatically, turning to look at Stan as if he had just told him pigs fly.
“Staniel, did you just ask moi to drink water? What’s the point of free booze if you’re not gonna take advantage?” He asked incredulously before standing, wobbling on his long limbs for a couple seconds and giggling a bit before regaining his balance. “Speaking of, I’m gonna go see if my boy Chris has any good brewskis lyin’ around.”
“Isn’t his name C-C-Connor?” Bill asked, shaking his head in amusement. He seemed to be the only one enjoying the trashmouth’s antics this evening, as Stan’s eyebrows were furrowed in concern which he tried to pass off as annoyance, and Eddie still kept his gaze elsewhere. It was the latter that made Richie itch for another drink.
“Whatever the fuck, Billiam. I’ll be back in a jiff, my loves! Try not to miss me too much!” Richie exclaimed with a bow, breaking out his British accent for his next sentence. “But if I find m’lady Mary Jane, don’t wait up, lads! Pip pip!”
Before Richie could step five feet from the couch, an aggressive hand was yanking him back by the wrist. Losing his footing due to the intrusion, Richie stumbled once more, nearly toppling onto Eddie. The shorter man’s tight grip on his arm was the only thing that kept him from sending them both back onto the scratchy leather of the couch below. Richie beamed at the attention he was finally receiving, despite the glare Eddie was boring deep into his features.
“Sit the fuck down, Richard. You’re not drinking anymore fucking beer and you’re definitely not smoking anything. You’re drinking some water and I’m taking you the fuck back to your room, asswipe,” Eddie said sternly, getting as close as he could to Richie’s face with the height difference between them. Richie couldn’t help but love when Eddie got like this; sure, he was red in the face more with anger than with the alcohol, but the anger was backed by mountains of concern. It reminded Richie how much his love cared about him, even though he was sure their forms of love differed. There was still some kind of love there, and sometimes, that was enough for him.
Although Richie felt his chest swell and he wanted nothing more than to ease Eddie’s anger and please him, his mouth rambled before his brain could tell it what to say, as usual.
“If you wanted to get me alone, Eds, all ya had to do was ask,” Richie slurred with a wink, slowly bringing his hand up Eddie’s arm, his calloused fingertips slightly teasing the warm skin. Eddie’s face flushed an even deeper shade of red, from anger or something else, no one was sure - until Richie’s hand was being swatted away, the smack of it loud enough for Bill and Stan to hear over the music from their spot on the couch. Richie mumbled a curse under his breath as he rubbed the skin Eddie came in contact with, a sting lingering there. He opened his mouth to speak again, some kind of excuse or apology on the tip of his tongue, but never got it out due to Eddie’s voice cutting him off.
“Stop doing this, Richie! Just stop! I’m tired of it!” Eddie's voice was slowly rising, and the tremble that laced within his words acted as some kind of magical potion; suddenly Richie had never been so sober.
“Hey, Eddie, it’s okay. I’m sorry, whatever I did I’m sor-” The apology was interrupted with another signature scoff as Eddie looked at the ground, shaking his head, breathing out a humorless chuckle.
“You don’t even know what you’re doing,” he said with a frustrated sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose before looking Richie in his eyes once again. Despite the apartment being dark with the exception of a couple of lamps scattered around the area, Richie could see the glistening threat of tears waiting to spill from the doe eyes he loved so much. His heart ached.
“Of course you don’t know what you’re doing, Rich, because you’re too fucking drunk! You’re always too drunk. I just… I just wish you were sober for fucking once!” Eddie practically screamed, before his voice softened with hurt again. “I just wish you’d act like this with me without fucking booze.” There were a couple beats of silence between them, two pairs of dark eyes swimming with gallons of emotions simply blinking at one another, the only noise coming from Eddie’s sniffling. Richie did all in his power to search for a response, but for once in his life, the trashmouth was at a loss for words. After what felt like forever, Eddie finally ended the moment by turning on his heel and making a beeline for the door, leaving Richie to stand in dumbfounded silence while his intoxicated brain processed the scene that just unfolded. His thought process was interrupted by a voice coming from the couch.
“Wha-what just happened?” Bill asked, his amusement from earlier in the night completely dissipated and replaced with a mix of confusion and concern.
“Richie’s oblivious and a dumbass is what just happened. Nothing new,” Stan deadpanned from next to him. Richie snapped his body towards the pair, making his head spin and reminding him of just how drunk he was. He blinked at the two in an attempt to adjust his sight before raising his hands in defense at Stan’s comment.
“What are you talking about? Do you know what that was about?” Richie asked, pointing towards the direction Eddie stormed off in. Stan rolled his eyes before standing up and grabbing Richie by the shoulders with both hands, giving him a serious look.
“When we went to get drinks, Eddie talked to me. About you. About how you act when you’re drunk, all over him and shit, more than usual. And how much he likes it, but he hates that he likes it, because you only do it when you’re drunk.” Richie continued to gape at his friend, clearly not connecting what Stan’s words meant. Stan sighed, scrunching his face in annoyance and gripping Richie’s shoulders tighter. “He’s in love with you, asshole! Either tell him you love him too, because trust me, everyone except him knows you do, or stop leading him on. It’s fucking ruining him, man!”
Realization finally hit Richie, his eyes welling with tears as Stan’s grip on his shoulders softened. “He- He is? Are you sure? This- This isn’t funny, Stanley. A-Are you sure?” he breathed out, and if it wasn’t for the weight of the situation, he’d made a joke about how he was sounding like Bill, nervous stutter and all. Stan gave a slight nod and responded, but Richie didn’t hear what he said. His mind was suddenly racing; find Eddie. tell Eddie. kiss Eddie. EddieEddieEddie.
Before he knew it his feet were running just as fast as his thoughts, not 100% sure where he was going, just knowing he needed to find Eddie. Richie raced out of the apartment building into the chilly air that was New York City on a late November night, frantically scanning the streets. His eyes soon locked on a figure about half a block down, leaning against a mailbox, head in his hands. Even with the distance between them, Richie could tell he was trembling, either from the cold or from crying, he wasn’t sure. As he felt the sharp breeze across his skin exposed by the rips in his jeans, he assumed probably both.
Richie thought better than to call out his name, opting instead to slowly approach Eddie. He did his best to labor his breathing in his short walk over, mentally preparing himself for the confrontation that was about to take place. The confrontation that would bear all feelings, all confessions. All of the walls Richie had been building around himself since high school would finally come down.
He wished he had another drink.
“Eds?” He spoke softly, possibly the softest he’d ever spoken, as to not scare Eddie and send him running. The shorter man lifted his head from his hands, and Richie’s heart broke even more at the sight before him. Eddie’s eyes were red and puffy, a wall of hurt extremely evident in the soft brown. His nose was runny, and his lip quivered as he looked away when he realized who was standing in front of him.
“Don’t call me that,” he practically whispered, just loud enough for the other to catch it over the bustle of traffic in the streets surrounding them. Although he was avoiding the other man’s gaze like his life depended on it, Eddie made no attempt to walk away. Richie took that as a small win.
“Eddie, talk to me. Please. What’s up? It’s just me and you, man. C’mon.” Richie wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch Eddie. Offer a comforting hand on his shoulder, run his fingers through his hair, hold him close, tell him everything would be okay. But he didn’t dare move.
A car honked down the street, offering the only noise that cut through the thick silence when Eddie didn’t take Richie’s offer to speak. The former stayed silent with his head down, finding the dirty concrete under his pristine white converse highly interesting. Richie let out a sigh.
“Okay, you don’t have to talk. I’ll do all the talking. I’m the Trashmouth after all, aren’t I?” Richie offered a lame chuckle when his attempt at a joke fell flat, Eddie not breaking his frown even slightly. Richie cleared his throat awkwardly before continuing. “Look, I talked to Stan, he told me what you guys talked about, and -” He was cut off by the same humorless chuckle he heard in the apartment minutes ago, but this time it dripped with sadness rather than anger.
“Dammit, Stanley, you fucking traitor,” Eddie mumbled mostly to himself. He shook his head with a deep sigh and rubbed his eyes with the heels of his palms, making them impossibly redder, before willing himself to look at Richie, his voice finally reaching above a murmur for the first time since leaving the party. “Secret’s out, I guess. I’m a fucking cliche. The fuckin’ queer that fell for his best friend.”
All Richie could do was silently stare, mouth slightly agape and eyes comically blown, amplified more so by his glasses. Sure, Stan had told him this not even five minutes beforehand, but hearing it from Eddie himself was an entirely different experience. He figured under different circumstances, Eddie would probably be laughing at how dumb he was sure he looked. Instead, the shorter man looked at him expectantly with tears still in his eyes, clearly waiting for some kind of response, and expecting the worst. They stood this way, basically a mirroring of what played out in the party upstairs before Eddie stormed out, for a solid minute before it was - once again - Eddie who broke the silence.
“So much for doing all the talking,” he muttered, the volume of his voice lowering, Richie realizing as Eddie looked back at the ground that he was closing in on himself once again. “Good night, Rich.”
“No,” Richie finally spoke, his arm darting out to grab Eddie’s hand before he could even adjust his feet to leave. “Please don’t walk away again. Please.” His voice broke on the last plea, his own eyes finally beginning to water. Eddie was still staring in the opposite direction down the concrete path he was planning on following before he was interrupted, but was staying put, not rejecting Richie’s hand in his. “There’s so much I wanna say to you, Eddie. So much. I just… Shit, I just don’t know how.”
Richie was crying just as much as Eddie was at this point but quieter, unable to pull himself together as much as he wanted to be brave. Eddie turned his head to face Richie with his glare still hardened, only softening when he saw the state Richie was in. Eddie had known Richie since they were literal children, and he knew better than anyone that Richie Tozier didn’t cry like this. Not unless something was truly eating at him. The anger Eddie felt towards the situation seemed to have completely disappeared as he comfortably squeezed Richie’s hand, giving him encouraging eyes.
The taller man used his free hand to rub the tears from his eyes, giving him a better look at Eddie. They were standing fairly close to the lone street light of the block, the faint orange tint of the bulb complimenting Eddie’s lightly tanned skin and chestnut eyes. Without thinking, Richie brought his hand up to Eddie’s face, cupping his cheek and wiping a stray tear away with the pad of his thumb. He continued softly rubbing at the skin there after the tear was gone, his thumb dancing across the freckles, his mind flooded with thoughts of how beautiful the man before him was. Eddie closed his eyes for a brief moment, taking in the feel of Richie’s touch.
Unable to find words again but refusing to let the moment slip out of his fingers for the third time of the night, Richie did the only thing he truly knew how to do; he acted impulsively.
If asked, Richie wouldn’t be able to pinpoint exactly when he decided to kiss the man he’d loved since he was 15 in the middle of Greenwich Village at one in the morning. Before he knew it, the hand on Eddie’s cheek slid down to his neck, pulling their lips together before the shorter man could react to the shift in Richie’s hold on him. As much as he didn’t want to admit the fact, Richie knew he wouldn’t have taken such action if it weren’t for the alcohol flowing through his veins, but at this point he didn’t much care. When their lips met, he forgot all about the booze, and became drunk on Eddie.
Eddie kissed back without hesitation, letting go of Richie’s hand and easily snaking his arms around his neck, with a comfortability as if they had done this thousands of times. It was sloppy due to the pair’s mixed tears along with their lack of experience, but nevertheless the two men kissed with purpose, as if the fate of their livelihood depended on this moment. Perhaps it did.
By the time they pulled away and rested their foreheads together, Eddie’s fingers had found themselves tangled in Richie’s dark curls, and Richie’s hands were gripping Eddie’s hips for dear life. The kiss hadn’t lasted too long - thirty seconds or so, if that - however the energy both men poured into those short seconds left them panting heavily, their breath tangling together, hot in the other’s face in the midst of the cold air around them.
“That was better than talking,” Richie breathed out with a wet chuckle, causing Eddie to finally crack his first smile of the night. It was a small one, the corners of his mouth curving only lightly, but Richie saw that his happiness had made its way into his stare.
“Shut up, Richie,” Eddie whispered with no real bite in his words before bringing their lips together again, this kiss softer than the last. While their first kiss was filled with the passion built up from years of mutual pining and secrets, their second let them convey the deepness of their love without words to speak. A tender peck of their lips told Richie everything he needed to know; this moment was very much real, and Eddie Kaspbrak very much loved Richie Tozier.
And if the kiss wasn’t enough, Eddie made sure to tell him when he pulled out of the kiss and rested his head on the taller man’s shoulder, pulling him into a proper embrace.
“I love you, Rich. I- I think I always have,” he confessed, his voice slightly muffled from where his face was buried in Richie’s neck, but the other man heard him loud and clear all the same. Richie released his grip on Eddie’s hips and wrapped his arms around him, letting himself breathe out a sigh of relief as he held him impossibly closer.
“I love you too, Eds. So fucking much, fuck.” Richie pressed a kiss to soft brown waves, breathing in the clean scent of lavender shampoo mixed with light cologne, his senses filling with just Eddie.
Standing in the middle of a bustling city they barely knew in the wee hours of a Sunday morning, arms wrapped tightly around one another, ignoring the strangers that walked past them most definitely giving them some variation of judgemental stares, Eddie and Richie had never felt more at home.
“Alright, Trashmouth,” Eddie started, reluctantly pulling away from Richie’s hold. Richie pouted at the loss of feeling Eddie’s body pressed against his own, making the latter chuckle and playfully roll his eyes. He pressed a quick peck to said trashmouth before continuing. “We can talk about this more in the morning. Right now, you need water and sleep.” Richie slapped a toothy grin onto his chapped lips after, once again, being reminded of how intoxicated he still was, falling back into his goofy demeanor with ease.
“Ya gonna take care of me, Dr. K? Ugh, what a dreamboat,” he replied, miming a cartoonish faint. Eddie simply giggled and grasped Richie’s hand once again, interlacing their fingers and leading him in the direction of their dorms. Richie fell back ever so slightly as to not get caught looking at Eddie like the lovesick dork he was, feeling a warmth grow in his body he was sure wasn’t due to the alcohol.
Richie still drinks after this night; old habits die hard, of course. However, Richie didn’t have to be drunk anymore to admit he loved Eddie. He told him sober and drunk, day and night, and vowed to remind Eddie just how much he loved him until the day they died.

Twas the evening before Christmas, the streets were filled with Christmas lights and the chill air of Los Angeles made everything cozier as families gathered around the fireplace and enjoyed the most peaceful of times…
This statement does not apply to our favorite band, tho.
Our four Australians were not enjoying a cup of hot cocoa with their families as they were supposed to, oh no. They were doing the most dreadful thing a person could think of doing the night before dear Santa came to visit: They were Christmas shopping.
In their defense - or at least Calum’s, Michael’s and Luke’s defense, this was all Ashton’s fault for he was the one that dragged them to the crowded mall in the middle of one of the busiest days of the year. And, in Ashton’s defense, it was not his fault that the store had called him in the middle of a recording session to tell him that they finally had the only thing he wanted for Christmas: A music box.
He just had to get it before everyone else.
“Why did we come all over here for a little music box?” Asked Michael as they stood at the end of the line for the register. How could they only have one register open? It’s Christmas for fucks sake! but then again, it’s Christmas for fucks sake, so they know that people should be with their families instead of working a poorly paid job.
“It was the last one!” Ashton claimed, admiring the little circular box in his hand “It’s a limited edition and I just had to get it for Y/N and for the baby”
His eyes lit up when your name escaped his lips. Not even a year ago did he officially make you his wife, but now you were carrying his child! People might think it was rushed, but for Ashton it was the complete opposite. He had his life made when he met you, knowing that he will marry you as soon as he could… he had to wait a few more years to do that, but he was extremely happy, more so now that your little family was expanding. He loved you and your child with all his heart, and the boys all knew that so they can't even be mad about it, even if he kidnapped them to the mall with the promise of some cinnabuns later.
“She had one of these when she was little” Ashton continued as he admired the little hand painted details of the box “It always played a little lullaby to help her sleep. But it broke a few years ago and she always complained about not having one like this for her kids one day… But now she will!” The black haired man smiled.
“Shit, that’s actually pretty sweet” Michael commented “Okay, you’re forgiven”
“I don’t know if I want to hug you for being the perfect husband, or to kick you in the balls for being the perfect husband and making the rest of us feel bad” Luke chuckled.
The four boys laughed at the comment and started talking about their plans for the Holidays as they waited for the line to move. The problem was, it has been fifteen minutes and the line has only moved once.
“How long is this line anyway?” Calum said, peeking over the side, furrowing his eyebrows as he noticed at least thirty more people waiting in front of them “Shit, this is going to take a while. That man has at least twenty plushies and eleven race cars”
“I don’t know how people could leave this kind of stuff for the last minute” Ashton huffed, earning a death glare from each of his friends “This one is different, tho! It was the last one!”
“I’ll give you a hundred bucks for that!” Someone said behind Luke, making him jump at the sudden surprise.
“What the-” Luke said, placing a hand over his heart.
It was a short man in a trench coat who pointed to the music box in Ashton’s hand.
Ashton furrowed his eyebrows and said to the man “Uh, not a chance mate”
“Two hundred?”
“Nope”
“Five hundred?” The man would just not cave and Ashton was getting fed up with it, luckily Calum noticed and hurried to say something before his friend started a scene.
“Hey, mr. Devito wannabe. He said no, so just go bother someone else. Okay?”
The man scoffed and turned his face to the side, stating that he was offended. The four Australians rolled their eyes and turned their backs to him once again.
Another fifteen minutes passed and the line barely moved. The guys were not talking anymore, running out of things to say past the twenty minute mark. Each of them were bored out of their minds, well all but Ashton at least, he was still gleaming with pride as he looked at the music box and created scenarios in his head and thought about the joy that would be mirrored in your eyes once you open it tomorrow morning.
After a few more minutes of silence, Luke was the first one to break it “I think I’m just gonna get a coffee and wait in the car. These boots are killing me today” He looked at Ashton as if to ask permission, but the dark haired man just shrugged and nodded, asking him to buy one for him as well and to leave it in the car.
Michael then added “Yeah, I think I’m gonna go and check the electronics this store has. I think I saw a new camera that would be perfect for my streams”
And that only left Calum and Ashton waiting in line. But about five seconds later, Calum opened his mouth.
“Yes, you can go explore, too” Ashton said with a sigh before Calum even got a chance to ask.
“Cool” The curly man said, patting Ashton on the back before muttering a ‘I’ll be right back’ Leaving him alone with the music box.
Ashton didn’t mind. In fact, he kind of enjoyed this time alone. It gave him plenty of opportunities to imagine a new future for the both of you next to your little baby boy or girl. He catched a glimpse of families walking around the mall, buying gifts or eating a snack as they smiled at each other. He couldn’t wait for that to be his new normal.
He remembered the time when you told him you were pregnant. You gifted him a special baby bodysuit that said “My daddy is the best drummer in the world and there is nothing you can do about it” next to your positive pregnancy test. Ashton always wanted to start a family, especially if it was with you, but he never expected it to be so soon. Yet, once he held the test in his trembling hands, he knew that this was the best thing it could’ve happened to him. He remembers how tearful he got the second his brain processes the information, quickly running up to you and pressing an earth shattering kiss to your lips, promising you and your baby that he would be the best father in the world.
And, as he held the little object in his hand, he already thought he was doing a pretty good job. He smiled to himself and thought about calling you. Not only did he want to hear your voice at this moment, but also because he wanted to check up on you. You were having tea with your best friend at the moment, but the pregnancy hormones were hitting pretty hard lately and he wanted to make sure you were doing alright.
But as soon as he got his phone out of his pocket, your name started glowing on the screen.
“Baby! I was just about to call you” Ashton said with a smile, loving this little coincidence.
“Ashton, is coming!” You said in an alarming tone. Ashton, however, did not understand what you meant.
“Yeah? I’m coming home soon, why are-?”
“No!” You cut him off “The baby, Ash! The baby is coming!”
Ashton laughed “Ha, ha very funny Y/N. But the baby isn’t due until three weeks from now”
“ASHTON FLETCHER IRWIN” You yelled through the phone, making Ashton pull away from the phone for a second “MY WATER BROKE AND THE BABY IS COMING NOW. SO GET YOUR ASS TO THE HOSPITAL BEFORE I-” A sharp pain ran through you as you were experiencing the contractions. Ashton could hear your distant groan and immediately went pale.
The baby was coming and he wasn’t ready.
“Ash, hello?” Your friend’s calm voice came from the other end “I’m gonna take Y/N to the hospital right now. I need you to meet us there, okay?”
“Fuck, okay. I’m on my way” He rushed to say before he ended the call.
“Hey, dude. What’s going-?” Michael said as he approached the black haired man who looked like he might throw up.
“The baby’s coming!” He said, trying to concentrate on his breathing before he hyperventilates.
“What?!”
“Hey, Mike, is everything-?” Calum came next, worried about his friends’ weird behavior.
“THE BABY IS COMING”
Michael.
The guitarist started wandering the electronics and new technologies hall. He was secretly glad he got away from waiting in line for what it looked like another hour, but at the same time he was glad he decided to accompany Ashton in his little quest.
The moment he knew you were pregnant he set himself to be the best uncle that little kid will have. He already knew that you and Ashton were going to be great parents, with the way in which you love each other it was hard to think otherwise. Michael was always up for anything you guys wanted to do for each other, from secret dates or help you sneak out after a concert, or even to plan gifts! He always took pride to know that he was part of your epic love story, even if it was with just a little favor.
Michael stepped into the videogame aisle like he usually does, but this time he went directly to the kid’s section, knowing that eventually your baby will want to play videogames with uncle Mikey and he will have to be ready with the most family friendly games he could find.
He started grabbing a few of them and reading the little summaries they had on the back, eventually deciding that he did not understand anything about children’s games and that he might have to ask around in order to find the best ones.
He went back to the electronics aisle and something caught his attention.
“Is that a real megaphone?” He asked one of the workers there “I haven’t seen one since 2014” He said, remembering the last time the boys ever let him play with one of those in the Good Girls video.
“Yeah! It’s the new model” Said the teenage boy that was in charge of that seccion that day “Wanna try it out?”
“Before that, can I go and show it to my mates? I won’t be gone for long, they are just down the checkout line”
“Sure!” The young man smiled and gave him the megaphone.
Michael had a big smile on his face as he started walking towards Ashton to show him what he found. But his smile dropped the minute he saw Ashton’s face grew a thousand times paler.
He carefully walked up to him and asked “Hey, dude. What 's going-?”
“The baby’s coming!” Ashton said, trying to catch his breath.
“What?!”
Calum.
He hated the mall. He really did. There were always too many people, too much noise and the prices were always exaggerated. But he knew that he was here today for a good cause. Calum was not going to let his best mate down.
Ever since you came into Ashton’s life - and the boys’ life for that matter - he could tell that you were special. Not only because of the way Ashton talked about you all the damn time, but because of your energy, your passion, your kindness and obviously your undenying love for the drummer.
Calum was always the protective friend, always keeping his guard up for any new companion they boys might have. But with you it was different. The first time you two met was the day you instantly became best friends. He knew he could trust you to keep Ashton’s heart safe, and he knew that if Ashton ever broke your heart that he was going to have to kick his ass for being that stupid. Luckily, he wasn’t.
He was the first person (after Ashton, of course) to know about your pregnancy. He swore to himself that he would not let anything happen to his future godson/goddaughter. That baby was going to be the perfect mixture of his best friends, there was nothing in the world that could stop him from loving them just as much as he loves all of you. He even got them toys so they could play with Duke when they’re older! Needless to say that he was very, very excited.
As he wandered through the halls of the store he noticed a commotion next to the toys section.
A line of kids accompanied by their parents awaited in front of a huge chair decorated with fake snow and candy canes. Santa Claus was going to be there.
“Oh my god” A female voice said behind him “You are Calum Hood!”
Calum turned around and was faced with a young girl dressed as an elf looking at him like he hung the moon or something.
“That I am” He said with a smile “Hello, nice to meet you!”
“M-my name’s Lizza” The girl blushed “I’m a huge fan! Is it okay if- I mean, could I get a picture? Please?”
Calum smiled “Sure!”
Lizza squealed “Omg, okay. But, can we do it over there? The kids aren’t supposed to see me yet” She said, pointing to a corner with a curtain and some costumes, presumably Santa’s and his elves'.
Calum nodded and followed the girl, catching a glimpse of the Santa Claus outfit “Do you think I can wear that for the picture?” He asked. Honestly, he just wanted to know how it would feel like to dress up as Santa, knowing he would one day have to do it for your child.
“Of course!” The girl said, taking her phone from her purse and giving it to another elf so he could take the picture.
Once the picture was done, he started to strip off the big red coat, the white beard and the hat when suddenly he had an idea “Is it okay if I borrow this for a while? Maybe five minutes? I wanna prank some friends that are at the check out”
“Uhh”
“I’ll give it back, I promise,” He said with a smile.
Lizza sighed “Sure! We have another one for emergencies”
“Cool, thanks Lizza”
Calum walked away with the fake beard, the warm coat and the hat, feeling cheeky as he approached the line.
“What?!” He heard Michael yell. And although Michael always yells, this one seemed important as his voice sounded concerned.
“Hey, Mike, is everything-?” Calum said, approaching his friends with a very confused face. But before he could even finish the question, Ashton looked at him with fear in his eyes.
“THE BABY IS COMING”
Ashton.
This was not good. Not good at all. His wife is at the hospital about to give birth and he is still in the line of the fucking mall.
“Oh shit!” Calum said, looking frantically over the line that was still too long “OH SHIT”
“Okay calm dow- Is that a Santa costume?” Michael asked.
“Calm down?!” Calum said, panicking “My best friend is having a baby and you tell me to CALM DOWN?!”
“I’m having a baby…” Ashton said in a whisper, not really paying attention to what was going on around him “I’m having a baby”
“Not you!” Said Calum “Well... also you but I meant Y/N! She’s the one pushing it mate” But Ashton did not listen.
His whole world paused in that moment. Too many thoughts were running through his head as he tried to formulate a plan, any plan that would get him the quickest to you.
He thought he was doing a good job, he thought that he was going to be the best dad ever and now he was going to miss the birth of his first child because the line wasn’t fucking moving.
“Ash?” Michael called, but he wasn’t listening.
How could he screw this up so early in the game? Your baby wasn’t even born yet but he swore he could already feel their disappointment.
“Ash..”
And you! How could you ever forgive him?! You will surely file for divorce once the baby is born.
“Ashton!”
“What?!” He yelled, looking at Michael who was shaking him by the shoulders.
“Fucking breathe man! You almost turn purple there”
Michael started breathing at an even pace, motioning Ashton to breathe with him and so he did “It’s going to be okay, don’t worry about it”
“How can you say that?!” Ashton almost cried “I’m not even a dad yet and I’m already screwing up! Who doesn’t show up to the birth of his child?”
Michael rolled his eyes, knowing his friend was just talking out of fear than out of reason, and shook him by the shoulders again “Listen to me, you are already a great dad! You were a dad even before Y/N got pregnant and you are not going to miss the birth of my nephew or niece. I won’t allow it. But first I need you to calm the fuck down!”
Ashton looked at Michael and swallowed the lump in his throat “What if I’m not ready? What if we’re not ready?”
Michael chuckled “You asked me the same question when you were about to walk down the aisle a year ago. You were ready even before you knew you were and this is not different”
But before Ashton could say something, Calum walked up to them again.
“There are fourteen people ahead of us” Said Calum, who had just run up to the start of the line “If we asked them to move, we might get there in time”
“Or maybe you could leave the music box to me…” The man with the weird vibe intervened.
“Fuck off DeVito!” The three Australians yelled.
Suddenly, a lightbulb got turned on on Michael’s head “I got an idea!”
A panicked Calum dressed as Santa and a very panicked Ashton watched as Michael ran out of the store for a second, only to come back pushing a Target cart “Get in!” He said jumping in the cart and motioning to Ashton to follow him.
Ashton jumped inside without asking any questions, not even when Calum started pushing the car or when Michael turned on his… was that a megaphone?!
“Attention ladies and gentlemen” Michael said through the megaphone, making every single person turn their heads towards them, as if two large Australians standing inside of a shopping cart being pushed by a very tattooed Santa Claus wasn’t stiking enough “We have a man that’s going to become a father at any moment now while his wife is in the hospital! Please let us through!”
Ashton does not know if it was the weird scene they caused, his desperate face or Christmas magic that made everyone on the line take a step back as Calum pushed them through the checkout.
Once they got there, the cashier took his money, too shocked to say anything else as Ashton yelled “Keep the change!” As they rushed through the doors and towards the parking lot with Calum pushing the cart at a great speed with all of his energy as all the other customers looked at them and wondered what the hell was going on.
“Mommy?” A confused random kid asked “Why was Santa pushing those men on the cart?”
Luke.
His favorite Christmas playlist was playing in the car. He loved the holidays, but he hated Christmas shopping with his life. So he was very thankful that Ashton could understand this and let him wait in the car.
As he hummed through the song “His Favorite Christmas Story” he thought about the gift he got to your little unborn baby. As soon as he found out you were pregnant, he knew he had to spoil that kid rotten. Well, not that he knew he had to, but he wanted to. You and Ashton were the best people he has ever met, and he knew your little baby was not going to be different, so what’s wrong with giving that child the world they deserve?
A few months ago he talked to a friend of his that made customized presents made of crochet, so he asked if they could make a baby mobile to put over the crib. He also made sure to ask that the animals that were to adorn the mobile were your’s and Ashton’s favorites, and also throwing a little kangaroo in honor of their father’s homeland and a little penguin in honor of their future favorite uncle.
He smiled to himself as he thought he couldn’t wait to meet the little pal and how he couldn’t wait to start a family of his own. But his daydreaming got cut short when he heard a commotion coming from the mall’s doors.
Sirens were ringing and a lot of people stood and watched at whatever was causing the disturbance. He even had to take a double look because he thought he just saw Calum dressed as Santa Claus pushing a shopping cart with Ashton and Michael inside, the latter speaking with a megaphone in his hand. And indeed that is what he saw.
“LUKE START THE CAR” Michael yelled from his megaphone. And Luke, being the smart man that he is, did not ask questions as he did just that.
Soon enough, Calum Santa Claus was jumping inside of the car, followed by Michael and Ashton, who just sat in the front seat.
“What is-?” Luke tried to ask, but his three friends were quicker as they all said at the same time:
“The baby is coming!” “We needed to get the music box” “The line was too fucking long”
“Hurry up, dude!” Calum said, giving Luke a pat on his shoulder as he stared at them, very confused.
“Why didn’t you just leave the music box with one of them?” He said, motioning to his friends in the back “I could’ve come back for them after I dropped you off…”
The three Australians all looked at eachother like they were the most stupid people on the planet. Until Micahel turned on the megaphone again and said with a defeated voice: “Just drive”
The ride to the hospital was silent as Luke drove through the streets of LA at full speed. Michael even turned on the siren of the megaphone to make way across the traffic jam. How the hell they didn’t end up in jail? A Christmas miracle if you ask me.
Once they got there, Ashton was the first one to jump off the car, followed by his best friends as they ran through the hospital’s floors.
“Irwin!” He said, once they got to the maternity wing “Y/N Irwin! My Wife-”
Luke followed, almost knocking down Ashton as his boots slipped on the floor “His wife!” He said, almost out of breath.
“His baby!” Calum added, almost falling to the floor as he tripped over his foot.
And last but not least came a small “Help?” From Michael who was completely out of breath as he sat on one of the chairs in the waiting room.
The nurse, apparently not taken aback at the sudden outburst of three grown man and a Santa Claus in her waiting room, just smiled at Ashton and said: “Over here, Mr. Irwin. You are just in time, she just started dilating…”
But Ashton didn’t hear much as he walked behind her, anxious to see you and see your baby. Breathing heavily as he tried to calm his nerves before he got to your room. He gave one last look to his friends and smiled at them.
“You can do it man!” Michael said, giving him the thumbs up.
“You go Poppa!” Luke cheered.
“We will be here!” Calum said, feeling tears of pride gather up in his eyes as he watched Ashton turn into another hallway, ready to become the dad he always knew he could be.
“Did you actually steal a Santa costume?” Michael said as the other two sat down next to him.
“And you stole a cart and a megaphone so shut up”
A new family.
You watched with tired eyes as your husband held your baby girl in his arms.
“She is so tiny…” He said with fresh happy tears falling rolling down his cheeks. Ashton started crying as soon as he saw her little face and heard his heart shattering cry.
You almost thought that he wasn’t going to make it in time, afraid that you were going to have to get through the birth of your child all alone. But he came through the doors just in time and he did not let go of your hand for a second, even when you knew you were crushing it as you pushed.
“I love you so much” He said, just as he’s been saying for the past hours since he got here “I love you so much and I love her so much I- Thank you”
“Why are you thanking me, love?”
“For giving me the best gift of all” Ashton said as he laid next to you with your daughter curled up on his chest “You gave me the family I always dreamed of. I could never thank you enough for it”
He slowly lowered his head and pressed his lips to yours, showing you all the love that he could in only one simple kiss.
“Well, it’s not like you didn’t help on making this, you know?” You teased, making him chuckle “I should be thanking you, Ash.You and her are the best thing that has ever happened to me, I love you”
“I love you” He said, capturing your lips in another kiss as you let the music box play in the background, filling the room with the notes of your favorite lullaby.
“Should I let the boys in?” He asked as he passed your daughter back to you. You just nodded, not wanting to let your friends wait a second longer to meet your baby. “Oh, and just a heads up, Calum is dressed as Santa Claus and we might never be allowed on the mall again”
You laughed “I can’t wait to hear that story”
Ashton smiled as he got out of the room and walked towards where the boys were sitting. Once they saw him walk up to them, they immediately got up, all of them smiling proudly at the new - official, father of the band.
“Boys, come and meet our baby girl: Jane Elizabeth Irwin”
