Yes! Please talk about your aus
I miss blorbos being alright
I'll take this opportunity to talk about ouat au spiderbit because okay
So the way to break the curse is True Love's Kiss, which is why Osito Bimbo aka the Evil King sent Cellbit so far away. Such a powerful curse couldn't not be broken, so it just chose something really legitimately hard to accomplish (because everyone has a true love, but finding your One True Love is harder than you'd think.) The curse was actually cast during Cellbit and Roier's wedding in the Enchanted Forest to ensure that only Osito would get a Happily Ever After, and the last thing each of them saw was the other. And then they lost their memories of each other and were split apart, yeah. Everyone but Cellbit gets sent to Quesadilla City to live in ignorant human bliss for 28 years, and Cellbit ends up spawning in prison somewhere already with a body count on his hands that he's all-too-willing to add to.
But they find each other again in the Real World, and it's their first kiss that breaks the curse. It's super shy and awkward and neither really knows what they're doing at all, but they slowly grow more comfortable with it as their memories start to come back. It's muscle memory first, and then physical memories from the Enchanted Forest, and, well. See for yourself:
There's magic in the air, Cellbit can feel it. He doesn't know how he can feel it, but he does, and he's halfway convinced that he's just imagining it because, really, maybe Roier is magic. His lips are bitten and chapped, and they taste faintly of cherry cough syrup, but Cellbit doesn't think he's ever understood the word 'enchanted' until this very moment. Their noses bump, and Cellbit bites back a nervous giggle. "Stop laughing," Roier grumbles. He snaps his teeth at Cellbit's face annoyedly. "Finish kissing me, culero." "As you wish," Cellbit replies, and then he does so. Their lips connect once more, and this time the world explodes around them. Cellbit is almost jerked away with the force of it, wind tearing through his hair and pulling on the back of his coat. But Roier pulls right back, greedy and sweetly selfish. One hand finds its way into Cellbit's hair and the other lands on Cellbit's back, possessive. Cute. Somewhere, Richarlyson starts cheering. Osito Bimbo screams in outrage. The wind whips furiously, drowning out all noise but the faint beating of Cellbit's heart; he closes his eyes from the force of it, instead focusing all his energy on staying close to Roier. His skin tingles in the same way glitter shines. There are sparkles at his fingertips, but all he can think of is how much he missed this, and- Cellbit gasps, coming up for air for the first time. He opens his eyes to look at his One True Love for the first time in 28 cursed goddamn years, and his eyes meet Roier's- awestruck and angry. "I-" he starts, already turning to presumably strangle Osito Bimbo with his bare hands, but Cellbit rolls his eyes and pulls him back into another kiss, and then another, and then another and another and another and another as the world around them bursts with sudden returned magic. Roier melts into him. (He always was weak to kisses, Cellbit thinks he remembers.) "Marry me," he murmurs, breath hot against Cellbit's lips. "For real this time." "Get me a ring and ask again," Cellbit responds. He laughs as Roier pulls back and smacks his chest hard right above the heart. He lets Roier keep hitting him until he manages to grab Roier's wrist and hold it, leaning in for yet another kiss. (He missed him, okay?) The wind stops, finally. The magic settles, and Cellbit finally remembers the true story of Puss-in-Boots just as his magic hits him hard enough to send him flying out of Roier's arms and into a furry ball of fluff at his feet. Roier cackles and crouches to pick him up, cooing and pressing a lighthearted kiss between his ears. "There's my gatinho," he smiles. Cellbit glares. Not his fault he spent too long in human form. Asshole. Any and all anger fades as Roier's eyelids flicker and as his legs stagger. He has just enough time to jump out of Roier's arms before Roier crashes to the ground, peacefully asleep. Sleeping Guapito. The rest of the city comes stumbling out of their homes and businesses, and they all turn to Osito Bimbo- still frozen in the street- in fury. Cellbit hops onto Roier's chest and curls into a ball, purring as Roier unconsciously raises a hand to lay on Cellbit's side. This is fine. He'll let the townsfolk get their revenge first. He and Roier can have their fun later.

what are ways to connect with hermes as a psychopomp/chthonic deity? aside from like when an actual death occurs. im realizing i never really have, but id like to!
Hey, Nonny, great question! I don't often see interest in this topic.
A big part of honoring Hermes' Chthonic aspects, from what I have seen, has actually been honoring the dead themselves. During the celebration of the last day of Anthesteria, for example, offerings were given to both Hermes and the souls of the dead, honoring them alongside each other. A specific food offering, called koliva, was given on that day.
With this knowledge, a good way to honor Hermes Chthonios/Psychopompos would be honoring the dead. Doing such things as visiting a loved one's grave, leaving flowers at graves (with permission, of course), and even interacting with ancestors can be ways of connecting with him more. I think another great way of devoting to him is showing kindness and respect to your fellow human. While this can be for Ouranic Hermes as well, I think having compassion to others (not at the expense of yourself) is still a great devotional act to Chthonic Hermes. As a Psychopomp, I'd have to imagine he has to be pretty compassionate towards the souls of the dead to effectively do his job. I'm sure he's helped terrified souls, furious souls, and confused souls cross the threshold into the afterlife, so practicing that same kindness towards others in your life is a great devotional act. Help life be easier and more enjoyable for one another. :) Simply working to enjoy your life can also be good. Trying things you've always wanted to try, engaging in activities that make you happy, volunteering for causes you care about - such activities could all be dedicated to him. Enjoying the life you currently have is an underrated form of devotion, in my opinion, and it's something I've found Hermes likes a lot (he's even actively helping me with it).
Something I like to do to as well is engage with media that discusses death. Two movies I recommend watching with Hermes Chthonios would be Puss in Boots & The Last Wish and Coco (I know Coco is a different culture, but the way it approaches the topic of death is very nice, I think). Also, media like Ask A Mortician on YouTube works because it engages your curiosity - a trait Hermes seems to value - and helps resolve any fears you may have towards death/educates you on the topic.
As for offerings to give to that aspect of Hermes, I would say incense that reminds you of his specific energy is a good option. You can give him classic scents he normally likes as well, such as frankincense, lavender, and myrrh. Black gemstones or rocks make a good offering as well; I'm personally a big fan of black tourmaline to represent Chthonic deities. Dedicating the tarot card Death to him from one of your decks (if any) could be good. Speaking of, any art you make of him works perfectly. In ancient Greece, butterflies were thought to be the souls of the dead, so butterfly imagery would be great, too. Giving him drink offerings such as black coffee, warm milk with honey and cinnamon, and lavender tea would work. Maybe also dedicating water placed under a new moon (I would specifically give it to him at night). A reminder that these are mostly based on UPG (some are historical)!
If anyone else has more suggestions, please feel free to share!
I hope this helps a bit. I hope you enjoy connecting with Hermes on that Chthonic level. Good luck to you, and have a good day/night. <3

Hey Raven, are you going to watch the upcoming new Disney movie "Wish"?
I've seen mixed reviews, but i'm lowkey excited since we get to see a new Disney villain, especially since Disney got really lame villains after all the old classic movies!
Have you seen the trailer for the movie? What are your thoughts so far?
Tumblr media
I saw Wish with a friend recently! I'll give my thoughts on the trailers here (in case you don't want spoilers for the film itself) and put my full thoughts beneath the cut (if you're okay with spoilers).
Looks-wise, I think Disney was definitely trying to go for something more stylistic and painting-esque for this?? And while I commend the effort, it definitely doesn't look as interesting as Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish. The humor also definitely isn't for me, it feels very "quirky" and "so relatable" (Asha reminds me of Mirabel in that sense), and other times too juvenile (like the goat butt joke). I do like the idea of the villain passing as a good guy in-universe and actually being vain and selfish, especially since the marketing is making it clear who the bad guy is rather than making it a "twist" villain scenario. Not sure if I like Magnifico himself though??? All the ads with him in it feel like Disney is trying too hard to make people thirst for him. From just the trailers, Magnifico does seem interesting and like more of a return to the traditional "villain" rather than the protagonist having to deal with an existential dread or concept.
***Spoilers for Wish beneath the cut!***
Right off the bat, my first impression is the narrative is SO ham-fisted. Within the first 5 minutes alone we're establishing so much information and in such a clunky, unnatural way. Like... Asha says hi to her friends but then they robotically have a dialogue where they overtly call each other "friends" just so it's clear to the audience (when in reality no one talks like that). It's telling instead of showing, and this happens sooo many times early in the film.
Could not for the life of me remember the friends or their names. There were just too many of them when 1 or 2 would have been just fine to move the plot along and to help Asha. (Yes, I know they're a reference to the 7 Dwarves but it's STILL not necessary to have so many just for a reference.)
Bruh, the makeup in this movie is on point. Every time there was a close up of a character, I was staring at their eye makeup (especially Asha and the queen's).
Asha as a protagonist was... fine? She feels very close to Mirabel and at times Rapunzel in her character. I didn't dislike her by any means, but she didn't reinvent what it means to be a Disney protag. Her motivations also come off as… really “out of nowhere”. We’re told she “cares too much”, but she initially only wants to save the wishes of her mom and grandpa; she randomly decides she has to free ALL wishes midmovie and that was jarring. There could have been a smoother transition. Instead, it was abrupt and Asha didn’t change in any meaningful way. Even her “I want” song was vague (what exactly is “to have something more for us than this”?) and didn’t connect well with her character.
I do really like her design though! Her freckles, earrings, and how her hair moves are my favorite details.
Valentino was not as annoying as I thought he would be. Still didn't care for his sass and brand of humor, but at least he helped out a few times.
I called it, the film is trying so hard to make Magnifico "hot" 🤡 I don't get it but okay, Mouse. I see your effort.
Loved his fit!! Very cool cloak and diamond/star motifs everywhere! His lab and study was also fun to look at.
I quite liked the moments when the queen talked to her husband and tried to smooth things over with him. “I can fix him energy”— Their relationship seemed very genuine at the start of the movie.
NOT THE WISH NEPOTISM...
If they were going for “sympathetic” with Magnifico, it didn’t work. He gave this backstory about how he was traumatized before + left as the only survivor of a great tragedy and so now he wants to use his magic to prevent that from happening to anyone else. Thing is, we only ever know about this via his word and staring at a half-burnt tapestry. We never see the event on screen, nor what was left of the tapestry. I was expecting a twist where it’s revealed that he lied all this time about his backstory and rewrote history so he could more easily manipulate the people of the kingdom he founded and live out the fantasy of being worshipped as a “good guy”. That was such a missed opportunity!!
Something else I was thinking of (this was during “This is the Thanks I get” was??? Maybe Magnifico started off genuinely good but became worn down over time as people’s wishes grew more selfish and they became ungrateful for what they had?? Then he could have become bitter and disillusioned by the behavior of his people.
Another idea is maybe Magnifico was “villainous” only in Asha’s eyes, since they don’t agree on how to best handle granting wishes. This would be more of a clash of ideologies rather than the traditional Obvious Evil vs Obvious Good that Disney is so known for, but hey, it could be a neat evolution of their storytelling from classic fairy tale roots.
This is to say that there were so many more interesting directions they could have gone with Magnifico’s motives, character, and portrayal 😭 but the second half of the movie never commits to any of these, they just blame his complete insanity and turn to the dark side on Forbidden Magic which is such a cop-out.
The trailers gave away the twist that Magnifico was the villain. It wasn’t revealed until like the second song into the movie. Would’ve worked better as an on-the-spot reveal rather than part of the marketing, in my opinion.
When they showed the wishes, the TWST fan in my was shouting, "OMG IT'S WISH UPON A STAR, THE LIMITED TIME STORY EVENT FROM THE HIT DISNEY MOBILE GACHA GAME TWISTED WONDERLAND!!!"
As Wish is Disney's anniversary film for 100 years, there were tooons of easter eggs scattered throughout. (I had fun looking for them!) Some were visual (I saw Aurora's dress, Snow White’s well, Peter's Pan's costume, Ursula's green smokey hands, Asha's robes resembling those of the Fairy Godmother, etc.) or extended imagery/scenes (Asha recreates Mulan's dinner and “Reflection" scenes), others were more overt lines of dialogue (Magnifico says the "Mirror, Mirror" lines along with others, a deer named “Bambi”, Valentino mentions an animal metropolis in reference to Zootopia, etc.).
In theory, the wish magic sounds cool but has so much that isn't explained??? And yeah, it's magic so it technically doesn't have to be. However, there are things not explained even when it is important to the plot. For example, Magnifico crushes some wishes and seems to absorb their power for himself (including the wish of Asha's MOM, so you'd think this would be important)? The consequence of this is that the wish's owners... become sad??? Okay, what are the long-term effects??? Why isn’t this fully explored?? But then later in the film we see the same people whose wishes were crushed... regenerate their wish??? So what, he has to keep reaping them??? And why are the wishes only taken at 18 years old? What if a wish changes? Ironically, the townspeople of Rosas have a scene where they question the technicalities of this wish magic. Magnifico essentially tells them to shut up, and it kinda felt like Disney was telling us to not question their lore www
It was weird that they never fully explored the ramifications of going without your wish. You’d think they’d show us people without ambition or hope (which would incentivize Asha to return their wishes), but everyone seems blissfully happy without their wishes?? The only exception is Asha’s friend that betrays her (cannot for the life of me remember his name), and that’s namely because his asshole friends keep ragging on him for it.
I thought the movie was going to go in a “you can make your own wish come true!!” direction but NOPE, turns out it’s just magic. Felt like Disney unintentionally wrote a whole movie about "wishes not coming true unless some big powerful entity allows it to come true” (Asha literally becomes the fairy godmother of Rosas at the end, making her ultimately no different than Magnifico)… ie a metaphor for how Disney owns so many properties it practically owns our childhoods www
"The power of friendship saves the day" ending 🤣 It was very Paper Mario ending-esque...
A song saving the day though?? It’s giving the Illumination Lorax film…
I was right about the humor. Too "quirky" and/or juvenile for me.
Animation was alright? Nothing awful about it, it just didn't feel as detailed or as experimental as other films with a similar style.
Songs were mid, which checks out with the recent Disney music excluding We Don't Talk About Bruno--
Some of the lyrics however were awful. “I let you live here for free and I don’t even charge you rent” is redundant. “So I throw caution to every warning sign” means you’ll show more caution than usual, not that you’ll forego caution. The correct expression is “throw caution to the wind”. Etc, etc, etc.
There was a cute after credits scene where they reveal that Asha's 100 year old grandpa (same age as Disney omg) wrote the "When You Wish Upon a Star" theme, which was sweet since his wish was "wanting to make a mark".
THE BEST PART OF THE MOVIE WAS STAR!! It was very cute (partly because it couldn't talk and just jingled and giggled, I was dreading another annoying mascot animal voice) and reminds me of my own pet… The way Star infused everything with glitter and formed unique shapes with the red twine was so fun 😭 I'M A STAR STAN, IT WAS ADORABLE AND KINDA BRATTY AND I'M LIVING FOR IT
Decent ideas, "meh" execution. Enchanted and Shrek did it better in terms of self-aware, fairy tale defying stories. It felt as though the movie was trying to deliver a profound message but got lost in the sauce of making as making Disney references possible and didn't fully commit to actually saying something meaningful. As a result, the film feels somewhat… hollow.
That one friend betraying Asha was the biggest surprise in the film but I still saw it coming 😂 I do get where he’s coming from though (being worried that his wish won’t ever come true) but it also felt like his conflict wasn’t resolved??? It might have gone better if the movie actually fully tried to push the “you can make your own wish come true” message (to reinvigorate the traitor to make his dreams a reality on his own) but they don’t 💦
Wish didn’t end up being “the wishing star’s origin story” because not once did anyone question where Star came from or why it was different from other stars (or what the significance of Magnifico blotting out the other stars was).
I think the people that would enjoy this movie are the people that are already highly invested in Disney and the nostalgia of it.
... Anyway, stan Star 🤩 (and the talking mushrooms 🍄)

⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ “Less Work, More Play” ~ Ways to connect to your inner child ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
Hello again, my dear Saplings! 🌱 I am back once again with another new PAC today that I hope you enjoy, take a deep breath, and choose whatever images resonate with your soul and heart, Happy reading! ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
Being connected to our child-like energy does not mean to behave like a tantruming two-year old or to act naively in situations where you know it is necessary to have a sensible and mature head on your shoulders, no to connect with the child within us in a healthy way we should embrace wonder, never fear trying out new things and remember its okay to be silly and fun now and again, don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself and never mind the unneeded judgements of others. If they refuse to look after the child within in and feel uncomfortable to see yours thriving that's a them problem!
I would love to hear if the message you received resonated with you, so don’t feel afraid to comment, for it makes me so happy to connect with you all! 💕
Song: Lost Boy - Ruth B.
Faery-Tale: Puss in Boots ~ “Perhaps the greatest gift that can be left to you is something you already have within”
[ My Instagram ♡ / Personal Readings ♤ /  Faery Masterlist ☆  ]

Pile 1
[Cards: Ace of Cups, Eight of Swords, The Chariot & King of Swords]
Ways you can reconnect with your inner child include slowing down in life, instead of rushing from one goalpost to another try to appreciate the journey. Collect memories physically & mentally - make an album of photographs from both adventures and ordinary life and fill it with pictures of those dear to you too. Listen & dance to music from your youth or even scrapbook/Journal about your days if you're feeling creative. Don't become another victim of the belief that once you've reached a certain age all fun must die only to be replaced with responsibilities and strict rules! Keep dreaming, keep playing, and keep growing!
Oracle: Benedicta
Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zones, No one ever grew in stagnation - Just like a plant in a pot too small for its roots your run the danger of wilting. Be daring, be bold, and most importantly true to your soul!
Tumblr media
Pile 2
[Cards: Four of Pentacles, Knight of Cups, Three of Pentacles & Four of Swords]
To connect more with your inner child within you I suggest some much-needed TLC & self-care. treat yourself, you deserve it! Think to yourself if your child's self suddenly appeared in your life and you were entrusted to care for them. How would you treat them? Perhaps you would give them all the nice things they were refused in life. Now is your chance to do just that. Another message I'm hearing is to not burden yourself with all the decisions if you run a business or are in a partnership/Marriage Lean on those around you (spouse/Work Colleagues) to carry some of the load it isn't your responsibility to carry it all - You don't need to feel alone.
Oracle: Rubi
Make time for your friends and family don't feel afraid that you might be missing out on work, or some other important chore on your to-do list, it won't end your world to slow down and appreciate all you've got. Wouldn't you rather make fun and exciting memories with those dearest to your heart rather than worry and stress yourself out over work? The decision is ultimately in your hands.
Tumblr media
Pile 3
[Cards: Five of Wands, The Star, Ten of Pentacles & Nine of Swords]
The way you connect to your inner child within you may include singing along to your favourite tunes, but I'm also hearing a message to avoid conflict - don't go into situations heated and looking for arguments & if it is others not accepting you don't want to engage cut them off and take some time away from them for your own sanity. I would also advise against scrolling through social media or constantly watching content full of bad news or toxic drama. Please don't compare your life to perfect pictures online this is making you lose faith in yourself and your dreams. You're quite wonderful as you are and your inner child says they wouldn't change a thing! after all, no one but Mary Poppins can be perfect!
Oracle: Sir Norval & Elliot
Perhaps you are over due for an adventure somewhere quiet & far away from the noise and distraction of modern life. Somewhere that you can reconnect with nature and the joys of the simple every day. Put down your devices and go out there the next chance you get to fulfill the curiosity of your soul!
Tumblr media
I hope the message you received from the child within was joyful and uplifting to you! Make sure to embrace each day with wonder and joy as that is how you can help begin the first steps to inner-child connection! For magic truly is everywhere is just depends on how you choose to view things.
-Love, Fae🔮🧚🏻‍♀

Ok I’m pretty sure it’s been said before but Puss has absolutely no identity outside of “the legendary puss in boots.” Like none whatsoever. The legend has gotten so big that even he can’t live up to it.
The most obvious example of this is when Kitty confronts him at the wishing star. After confessing that she thought she could trust him again, she says, “but you’re just the same old puss in boots” and on the verge of tears he exclaims, “but I’m not!! I am not puss in boots! I am not-“ Kitty rolls her eyes and says, “what? The legend?” And puss just crumples. He’s viewing this persona that’s he’s made as a separate entity, as something he has to live up to and strive to be, not who he really is. Another example of this is as Puss is leaving mama Lunas in the beginning. Perrito asks, “pickles, you’re puss in boots?” And he responds, “not yet, but I will be.” He believes that if he gets his lives back, he’ll be able to once again live up to ppls expectations of him and become puss in boots. He is not puss in boots, that’s smth he has to become.
After his panic attack, he admits to perrito that without his lives he is nothing and we see in the beginning of the movie that those extra lives are what let him be a “fearless hero.” So wo the lives he can’t be a hero and wo being a hero he is nothing. He has no identity outside of that. Also in the cave of lost souls, one of his past lives says “oh, the legends still big, gato. It’s YOU who got small.” which I think fits this whole situation really well. This whole idea of puss in boots has gotten way too big for him to handle and he’s lost wo that script to follow.
He needs so badly for ppl to like him and he’s poured so much time, energy, and lives into it that he doesn’t know who he is wo it. And we see as soon as that identity is taken away at mama Lunas, he becomes extremely depressed and aimless.
But now he’s got friends who actually love him for him, not the legend, but still ended the movie choosing to carry on as puss in boots. I’m interested to see how his character will change because of that. Will he find a balance between his persona and who he really is? Will he explore aspects of himself outside of being a hero? Maybe pick up a hobby or smth that’s just for him, not for public display? Idk we’ll just have to see.

1- ENERGY IS WHAT EVERYTHING IS MADE UP OF !
2-CHI CAN BE REALLY & TRULY DEFINED AS THE PUREST FORM OF ENERGY !!
3- NOW CHI ALSO HAVE TYPES OR WE CAN... 2 MAINLY 3 TYPES I HAVE THOUGHT AND IN THOSE 3,ONE IS ACTUALLY MADE BY ME !!..
(i) DRAGON CHI ( THE POWER WHICH A DRAGON WARRIOR USES !!! )
(ii) SPIRIT CHI ( WHAT EVERY SPIRIT WARRIOR IS MADE UP OF !! ( REMEMBER EVERYTHING IS MADE UP OF ENERGY !! AND IT HAS TYPES ).
(iii) CURSED CHI [ THIS IS WHAT I HAVE MADE ] A VERY INSANE TYPE OF CHI &ABLE TO DESTROY OTHER CHI & ENERGY ALL TYPES !! ALL !! LIKE DRAGON & SPIRIT ! [ A CURSED ARTIFACT NAMED URIKEN HAS THIS ABLITY.. if you have seen my ke-pa & jindiao post on my page. Then you know what exactly I am talking about !!...
( sorry for going off topic; but that was mandatory to stop these death fan boys !! )
NOW WITH ALL MENTIONED DATA ABOVE...
SPIRIT WARRIOR TAI LUNG & KAI BOTH ARE TRULY IMMUNE TO ALL NON-CHI BASED ATTACKS !!! ALL TYPES OF PHYSICAL DAMAGE ! AND TAI LUNG WAS ALREADY HAVING INSANE SPEED IN HIS MORTAL FORM BUT IN HIS SPIRIT WARRIOR FORM HE HAS INFINITE STAMINA AS WELL + INFINITE ENDURANCE AS HE IS ONLY VULNERABLE TO CHI-BASED ATTACKS !!!...
So Conclusion-
SHIFU>DEATH MID DIFF BOTH 100% ( PRIME ).
TAI LUNG>>DEATH NO-LOW DIFF. BOTH 100% NO HOLD BACK ( BOTH PRIME )
PO KFP 1>DEATH MID- HIGH DIFF ( PO HOLDING BACK AND NO HOLD BACK THEN NO DIFF DURABILITY CARRIES 👀)..
PO KFP2 >>> DEATH NO DIFF ( HOLD BACK, NO HOLD BACK PO NO DIFF ).
PO KFP3 BASE>> DEATH NO DIFF..AND DRAGON WARRIOR PO>>> DEATH NEG DIFF
KAI KFP3 MORTAL WORLD & SPIRIT WARRIOR FORM BOTH NEG DIFF.
TAI LUNG FROM MY KFP 4 SPIRIT WARRIOR FORM>>>>>> DEATH NEG DIFF.
TAI LUNG THUNDER TRIGGER 1 >>> DEATH MID DIFF ( STABILITY DISADVANTAGE + TAI LUNG WILL LOSE HIS STAMINA, BUT STILL 2 SHOTS DEATH ). TRIGGER 2 >>> DEATH AND HIS VERSE NO DIFF... AND TRIGGER 3>>>PUSS IN BOOTS VERSE BEYOND NEG DIFF.... 🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿.
REBLOG IF YOU AGREE 👍!!! THANKS FOR READING THIS ESSAY 👀☠️.

Thinking about how people like gay coded villains, and I think it's bullshit. The conclusion I've come to is that when people say this, they really just want catty characters.
They want gay coded characters who are powerful, cocky smartasses because its a nice fantasy to have. The gay coded characters they like are Scar and Ursula, who are those things. It's never for Ratcliffe or Professor Marmalade- Because they're fucking lame.
Even more blatant in The Bad Guys, people latched onto Wolf and Snake's close relationship over Marmalade. And guess what? Wolf and Snake are cool, powerful, cocky smartasses. And Marmalade is none of these things, and has just as much gay coding, if not more than these two.
You can tell this is what they really want, because those two things are not synonymous. You can have fun villains that aren't gay coded, and have cocky powerful smartass protagonists that are gay coded, or are actually gay. Puss in Boots 2 is a good example of all of this. Puss and Kitty both have a lot of bisexual energy to them, and none of the villains there are gay coded. But people love all the characters in that film nonetheless. And no one is trying to suggest that they should've been gay coded. Even the people who simp for Death don't say that.
Do you associate being catty and mean with being gay? Because that's what these gay coded villains were trying to do, thats what this propaganda is for. To show you that The GaysTM are bitchy, mean, deviant assholes. When they're not lame, embarrassing fops, they're threatening and menacing. And you fell for it, and tried to pretend it was a good thing.
People say Amity became less interesting when she became a love interest. But in reality, they just mean she's not as bitchy as before. So do you really want gay villains, or do you actually fantasize about being the bully?

What would your opinions be on a DuckTales version of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish with Scrooge on place of Puss in Boots, and Goldie in place of Kitty Softpaws, and maybe either Dickie or Webby in place of Perrito? After all, Puss and Kitty's relationship is rather similar to Scrooge and Goldie's.
lolll yeah i LOVED the last wish (hadnt seen the first movie) and obviously felt the scroldie energy coming from those two
webby or dickie would be good perritos, im not sure which id prefer. probably webby cuz shes so tiny

Dimension 20′s Neverafter FPE (Fairytales Per Episode)
im going out of my fuckin gourd on this neverafter shit, and i have decided to make a list of what and how many fairytales/nursery rhymes are introduced in each episode. will update as time goes on but i make no promises as to how frequently. theories are not included in totals. allusions/references are.
disclaimer: i am coming at this from a primarily american, english-speaking, culturally christian background, though I have studied a lot of ancient mediterranean myth and religion, a little bit of norse myth and religion, and a little bit of arthurian legend.
please let me know if there’s a reference to something I missed or if you know shit I don’t. i’ve decided that for our purposes, whether a reference/allusion is intentional or not doesn’t factor into our final count - unintentional/ambiguously intentional allusions/references count too, not just obvious ones.
(especially about mythical middle eastern spiders. I only know anansi & arachne, and have a passing familiarity with jorogumo & ye xian, and none of those are middle eastern or fit the situation.)
update: the show is finished! I won’t be taking my various theories off, i think it adds flavor. just remember as you’re going down that I was updating this weekly-ish. I’m going to do another post in the future that is Just The Numbers, but for now, enjoy my rambling! [updatier update: here’s the Just The Numbers post]
Ep. 1
The PCs (and their backstories)
 Mother Goose (+1)
Hubbard (old mother Hubbard who lived in a cupboard) (+1)
Jack
jumped over the Candlestick (+1)
(implied) and the Beanstalk (bc of the giants everywhere) (+1)
theory: Sprat? (the rhyme goes “Jack sprat could eat no fat his wife could eat no lean/and so between them both, you see they licked the platter clean.” not directly mentioned but that was my first thought upon the whole turning to bones thing that like all the fat was removed from his body or smthin)
Ylfa (Little Red Riding Hood) (+1)
there are 2 wolves inside you. you are 12.
the big bad wolf is mentioned in the context of 2 stories, the 3 little pigs and little red riding hood, so (+1) for the pigs
Pib (Puss in Boots) (+1)
Pinocchio (+1)
Cinderella (stepmother’s official art says “Cinderella...” at the bottom) (+1)
theory: “The second fairy you have met in your life” so also a character in smthin else probably since cindy’s stepmom isnt usually magical
update: maybe the whole cannibalism thing made her magical? who’s to say
updatier update (post ep 7): so it turns out that the evil fairy =/= the stepmother, but is the evil fairy from sleeping beauty. i was right about the stepmother being in multiple different stories but boy howdy do i wish I wasn’t.
Rosamund (sleeping beauty/briar rose) (+1)
Gerard (the princess and the frog) (+1)
Snow queen (mentioned by Elody) (+1)
the rest of the episode
the little red hen (+1)
i fuckin love this one.
the story’s basic but good - she’s makin some bread and at every step asks for help from the other barnyard creatures and they’re all like hmm nahhhhh and then when it comes time to eat the bread they’re all like yes please lemme help w that and she’s like uh no, where was this energy when i was making the damn thing? and eats it ‘without any help at all’
so brennan doing her as like ‘u gotta help or you don’t eat’ is fantastic. 10/10
Ol king Cole (+1)
The little old lady who lived in a shoe (+1)
(alluded to) Alice n Wonderland (rabbit and teapot) (+1)
theory: “the chandling caravan” sounds like it should be something, but I don’t know what it is, and google has not been helpful. same w boffit, lord bandlebridge, and cressida lumley.
total tale count: 16
Ep. 2
The nutcracker (+1) (herr drosselmeyer is the weird uncle who gives clara the nutcracker. also in every ballet his drip is consistently immaculate)
Snow White (+1) (mirror mirror…..leaned up against the wall)
(alluded to) Beauty n the beast (furniture coming alive) (+1)
theory: Eidelgrin means something, but I don’t know what it is.
total tale count: 3
Ep. 3
.........nothing new to report
Ep 4
the fairy with the turquoise hair (aka the blue fairy) is actually not exclusive to Pinocchio - she has her own book n everything. (+1)
(alluded to) the little mermaid (+1)
“a dancing princess who either cannot or will not speak near a beach.”
the little mermaid trades her voice for legs and in the OG grimm story it feels like stepping on swords whenever she walks so she kind of “dances” (rip)
there’s. So many rabbit and fox tricksters. And other clever cats. I don’t think any were directly mentioned (except that Pinocchio has some in his many adventures, which isn’t a new tale) so I’m gonna say (+1) for rabbit and (+1) for fox.
Update: a reply to this post mentioned a character named Reynard the Fox from medieval French literature that might be the reason that the Fox speaks with a French accent. I found more support for this theory below!
“Isengrim”
this is the name of the daggers Pib gets. Rabbit mentions that it’s a name that Fox called the Wolf.
In fact, there’s a tale called Ysengrimus from 1152 CE where Reynard the Fox tricks the titular character, a wolf! So, there’s one Fox story confirmed. No additional points since Fox already had 1 point, this is more confirming the specific story he was inspired by.
theory: also, if we know the accents Mean Something, then Rabbit having a British accent might point to Peter Rabbit.
update: i have noticed several posts calling Rabbit’s accent Australian. it can be hard for me to tell the difference and idk if the general European bent of these tales means that brennan’s British just sounds kind of Australian or if it Means Something. I’m sure there’s Australian trickster rabbits too i just don’t know them
no fuckin clue where the ring came from tho :/
the golden goose (another Jack/Mother Goose tale not specifically mentioned before) (+1)
plus the beanstalk thing is talked about more (not new info though)
total tale count: 5
Ep. 5
hey diddle diddle (+1) (the dish ran away with the spoon + the cow jumping over the moon are from this same rhyme)
also anyone catch brennan mentioning fiddle music as tim was healing pib? ik it was king cole related music, but also...hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle.
itsy bitsy spider (+1)
(alluded to) little miss muffet (+1) (tuffeton)
(alluded to) goldilocks (+1) (”just enough” oats)
1001 nights (+1) (scheherazade is the author of these tales, as well as a myth in her own right. I have not read 1001 nights. please tell me things if you know them)
“spider queen” (+1) idk what it is but its fuckin something
identifying information: guardian of a cave/maze. supposedly has a throne. 1001 nights-adjacent.
theories:
“the spider and the wind” tale 909 of 1001, spider isn’t in this one that much actually
not all folktales in the neverafter are in mother goose’ book, so it stands to reason that not all folktales in the Endless Nights are in 1001 nights.
however, all the folktales in the neverafter are European in origin (mostly medieval), so it would make sense that the folktales in the endless nights would be middle eastern or adjacent
ye xian - chinese folktale where there’s a spider queen
“that’s east asia not arabia” fair but consider: in the older translations, aladdin is a chinese peasant. the world of 1001 nights is already bigger than arabia, and stories travel much more easily than the goods being traded across asia and the mediterranean on the silk road at the time the stories were written.
jorogumo - japanese yokai. a spider that turns into a woman. again, extremely far away from arabia, but girl i am looking.
cave of thawr - islamic oral tradition of muhammed hiding in a cave and a spider protects him. there’s a similar jewish tale w david hiding in a cave.
unlikely, but if there’s beautiful tapestries and the mother of all spiders i have to mention my girl Arachne (greek myth)
all time famous mythical spider anansi (west africa) still doesn’t really fit the bill, and is farther away from arabia than arachne (greece, which had colonies in the middle east (along the mediterranean shore but still. water = trade = exchange of goods = exchange of ideas/stories)) but still possible
yes i got a degree in ancient mediterranean studies and am using it to ruthlessly analyze a comedy show instead of sleeping, what about it?
sinbad (+1) “Sinbad the Sailor” (the roc is part of this as far as i can tell)
magical palace w the tapestries of starlight (+1) there’s a fuckload of magic palaces in 1001 nights. idk which one this refers to but it’s Something. am currently combing the stories more closely to specify at least one.
theories
the bartender with the icy wound is definitely someone. my gut says someone from the snow queen - people get icy mirrors in their eyes n shit in there and oftentimes straight up don’t get better
the peddler of wares in the corner has to be someone
the name of the tavern being “the cock and toad” has to mean something. i did some googling. there’s lots of fairytales w toads and lots of fairytales w cocks (lol) but none I could find where it’s just the two of them together. it’s weird, w a lot of fairytales/fables/nursery rhymes its like rolling 2d8 on a table of 8 animals and then just making the title out of the two animals you get. statistically its likely that there’s a story out there called that but I can’t find it.
the fucking spidersilk ring. i will solve this riddle one day.
they say the name “Aesop” as in “Aesop’s fables” (like the tortoise and the hare) but no tales mentioned yet. worth looking into if you’re the curious sort tho. Pib is going to fuck this guy up, his stories are very animal-centric and definitely have some trickster cats.
total tale count: 8
Ep. 6
No new tales - expands on ones already mentioned.
It’s just Muffet and whoever Scheherazade’s spider is
at least we find out that the “spider queen” referred to the monstrous form of muffet and Scheherazade’s spider combined, and not some new wholly separate myth.
Scheherazade’s spider seemed a little...riddly? for lack of a better term? like the whole “something that does not breathe” thing was weird, and if it’s supposed to be a guardian or guide of some sort, riddles make sense.
honorable mention: In the adventuring party episode, brennan tells the fable of the scorpion and the frog.
total tale count: 0
Ep 7
many theories with little knowledge.
In the adventuring party, brennan straight up says that the sword of truth is a general archetype, not from any specific tale. didn’t know that was an option! so no points for the sword of truth, dope as it is.
p.s. anyone else get flashbacks to fhsy with the whole truth mirror thing? it’s a good concept I’m glad brennan’s bringing it back
I am assuming each artifact found in the spider’s lair either comes from a separate tale, or is an archetype. I’m only counting it if I can pin down a specific tale that it is from.
the gillesuit/haystack cloak (+1)
update: As of Ep. 9, we now know that this is called “the cloak of rushes” and grants advantage on stealth checks. it is almost certainly from the English fairy tale “Cap-o’-Rushes” which, confusingly, features not just a cap but a whole outfit made of rushes!
my first thought was little boy blue, which does come from the tales of mother goose. this makes more sense tho lol
the golden bridle (+1)
some cursory googling indicates that this is from the celtic tale of Guleesh. one night, upon hearing the Fair Folk partying in some ruins (had to look up what a “rath” was lol) and saying “My horse, my bridle, my saddle!”, he repeats what they’re saying and is suddenly on a horse with a golden bridle. the story isn’t about the bridle itself, but the horses feature prominently, and can fly and stuff. When Guleesh kind of breaks the magic, the horse turns into a wooden beam, so maybe putting the bridle on a wooden beam summons a horse?
update: in ep 13 & 14 (& the adventuring parties) they mention that a. it does not summon a steed - you need to already have a steed there, and b. it would only work on a beast, not a monstrosity.
so.......maybe it’s not the one from the tale of Guleesh. I remain optimistic.
the golden chair (+1)
an obscure one, to be sure. from a grimm fairytale with a weirdly christian bent, where a tailor convinces st peter to let him into heaven but then sits in a big golden chair which as it turns out is the chair god sits in, and fucks up by throwing the footstool at some lady on earth washing veils (?) and gets kicked out again.
it is very possible that this was not an intentional allusion, but rather meant to evoke a fairytale-like atmosphere. either way, mission accomplished!
honorable mention: mayor harold hopps, while not a fairytale character himself, looks exactly like and was apparently inspired by the guy on the Pringles can, who is 100% a modern-day folkloric character.
theories:
the black velvet cloak with stars on it
idk where this is from. the only story I could find w a cursory google that had star clothing was Allerleirauh aka Thousandfurs, about a princess whose dad who wants to marry her (gross) so she asks for a bunch of impossible stuff to be made before the wedding can happen to try and stop it, including a dress made of stars (and one made of every kind of fur in the world hence the title). but it’s not a cloak so no points.
i s2g i have heard of something called ‘the cloak of stars’ before but I can’t fucking find it. pls lmk if you can think of something
update: ep 9 - they ALMOST told us what it was fuck, they mentioned wearing it to escape from the stepmother but we have no name. also the ‘cap-o’-rushes’ tale is extremely similar to thousandfurs minus the incest, so I don’t think it’s from that.
the stick skeletons w/ flesh on them were minions of the evil fairy from sleeping beauty - not a new tale
total tale count: 3
Ep 8
correction: brennan mentioned in the adventuring party for this one that aesop himself may also be fictional, and that many fables contain him telling the fable as part of it, so we’ll officially count him as his own fable like we did with Scheherazade (+1)
the lion and the mouse (+1)
the boy who cried wolf (+1)
they did finally mention the scorpion and the frog (+1)
alphonse is there but “the mule” isn’t actually referenced as being part of any of aesop’s fables in the show (like, there’s plenty of mules in aesop’s fables but no specific one was referenced in the show)
total tale count: 4
Ep 9
BABA YAGA BABA YAGA BABA YAGA BABAYAGABABAYAGA!!!!!! (+1)
i love her so much. i truly understood emily’s excitement this episode.
(alluded to) the princess and the pea (+1)
first time around I didn’t hear siobhan ask if anyone sees any stacks of mattresses without peas under them to sleep on lol
(alluded to) this little piggy went to market (+1)
idk if that’s the name of the rhyme or not, or if it has a name
it’s not in the captions but emily axford saying ‘well there has to be a market, right? cause this little piggy went to market’ is iconic
some sources say this rhyme is from Mother Goose lol
total tale count: 3
Ep 10
(alluded to) peter and the wolf (+1)
the baron’s named peter and there’s a wolf. that cant be a coincidence, the 3 little pigs don’t have set names
mostly retreading 3 little pigs territory. awesome battle set!
theories:
the soup could be an allusion to something but i think its just playing into this season’s theme of consumption and the end of the 3 little pigs
the council of kings might be from something
total tale count: 1
Ep 11
we get 5 kings from 5 tales on the Council of Kings (which seems diegetic and not a reference to anything), 3 of which we already knew, 2 which are new.
the little mermaid (the mer-king)
the snow queen (the tsar of snowhold)
the nutcracker (the mouse king)
the emperor’s new clothes (the naked emperor) (+1)
rumpelstiltskin (FINALLY) (the king of apogee) (+1)
Koschei the deathless (+1)
i had no fucking clue who this guy was until emily axford recognized him, thank you emily
at first I was scared the sealskin would be a selkie thing. it may still be, but that doesn’t appear to be the case in this specific situation
(alluded to) the binding of Fenrir, the wolf at the end of the world (+1)
there’s a norse myth where tyr (a god) puts his hand in fenrir’s mouth to show good faith. the gods want to put this magical leash/collar on fenrir, and since he’s not an idiot he says that he’ll consent to it only if tyr puts a hand in his mouth while they do it, to show that what they’re doing will not hurt or bind him in any way. the gods agree, but oops they lied, the chains are very much to bind him, and tyr loses his hand but the wolf is still bound.
but ylfa and mother goose are telling the truth! happy ending (for once lol) ^v^
I didn’t catch this one at first - thank you to the many posts about it in the #neverafter tag!
honorable mention
sheldon from ‘garfield and friends’
theories
the tavern-keeper (Natalia) doesn’t stand out to me as anyone specific so far, though her daughter is the second “snow-touched” person we’ve met (the bartender at the cock and toad had an icy wound over one eye) so im thinkin snow queen
there’s dwarves in other stories than snow white I’m sure, but these ones specifically say “snow white” on their intro card.
also, their names, Mürrisch, Schläfrig, & Arzt, mean grumpy, sleepy, and doctor in German. Grumpy, Sleepy, and Doc are all disney snow white dwarf names. nice.
another infuriating mention of the cloak of stars without any indication of what it does. I’m going to spontaneously combust.
one thing i do appreciate is the amount of taverns they run into. this is the third and i am very pro
total tale count: 4
Ep. 12
so many princesses!!!!! most of them already counted but still!!!
Rapunzel!!!!! (+1)
The North Wind (+1)
my classics major ass immediately assumed they were talking about Boreas, the Greek god of the northern wind lol
from what I can tell, this is from "East of the Sun and West of the Moon"
i’m sure The North Wind is from other things too, everybody loves personifying the wind
honorable mentions
Beast!!!!! i already counted the tale early on as a reference but it’s here fr now!!!!
Finally meeting the little mermaid!!! Also counted early on but this is her first appearance!
“the beast beyond no name” that Mira mentions in combination w the taut string that Pinocchio feels that means part of his story is happening soon whether he likes it or not makes me think it’s Terrible Dogfish time. But. I also think that it could be the literal Kraken.
there’s so many monsters in folklore that are just “really big scary fish thing that lives at the bottom of the ocean yet somehow also wrecks ships on the surface” i just don’t know which one brennan’s going for. my money’s on either Pinocchio’s Dogfish or The Kraken
Candlewick! jesus fucking christ! every time a bit of Pinocchio lore shows up, it’s already horrifying just from the whole story of Pinocchio being horrifying, but then Brennan leans into it in just the right way for it to be so much worse!
in the adventuring party, they mention several other tales, including the tortoise and the hare and the little matchgirl. they also (rightfully) dunk on Hans Christian Andersen for writing ludicrously depressing children’s stories.
total tale count: 2
Ep. 13
no new tales, dogfish, mer-king, & sea witch are from existing tales, but
CLOAK OF STARS LORE CONFIRMED
WE NOW KNOW THE CLOAK OF STARS IS CAPABLE OF CASTING 5TH LEVEL MAGIC MISSILE
THIS DOES NOTHING TO NARROW THINGS DOWN! BUT IT’S SOMETHING!!!!
also MANY tantalizing mentions of the golden bridle with 0 hints as to its capabilities.
total tale count: 0
Ep. 14
the sea witch is named Alba Mac Lír
several allusions here!
thank you @twoeelsforsupper for this observation!
“there is a legend called "the children of Lír" where a witch/stepmother turns King Lír's children into swans but does not take their voices, which ends up getting her found out. like the threads about voices and witches and stepmothers and transformations???”
“Alba” can mean several things
it’s the Scottish Gaelic name for Scotland (this is probably what was being referenced)
in Latin, it’s the feminine nominative singular of the adjective albus, meaning “white”
in Spanish and Italian, it means “sunrise”
In Scottish Gaelic, “Mac” means “son of” so we have “Scotland, son of Lír”
good for her
also, if she’s one of the children of Lír, does that mean she’s one of the ones that got turned into swans?? much to consider.
so, plus one for the legend of the children of Lír! (+1)
FINALLY (finally) we get full cloak of stars lore.
its a fucking dnd 5e item. all this time and it’s legit just a reskin of Robe of Stars
it can take them to the lines between and shoot magic missile
i don’t know why i’m mad
total: 1
Ep. 15
yikes
no new tales, unless you count Clara The Horse Princess (she is not from anything as far as I can tell but I love her. also like Clara is the name of the nutcracker main character but we already counted the nutcracker so it wouldn’t be anything either)
total: 0
Ep. 16
thumbelina! (+1)
tom thumb! (+1)
I thought they were from the same thing but it turns out they have different origins, though there was a 2002 movie that had them be in the same movie.
tom thumb - English folklore, there was a 1621 book called The History of Tom Thumb
thumbelina - hans christian anderson tale from 1835, in the second volume of his Fairy Tales Told For Children series.
turns out he was actually inspired by Tom Thumb a bit, so it’s not convergent evolution or anything.
ngl - I mostly know the story of thumbelina from hearing julia from drawfee rant about how shitty of a movie it is in various streams/videos lol
all the jack stuff is stuff we’ve seen before - golden goose, giantslayer, nimble
UPDATE: in ep 17 adventuring party, brennan talks a bit about the multiplicity of jacks, and clarifies that there are TWO separate giantslayer myths.
Jack the Giant Killer - a Welsh fairytale about a warrior named Jack who fights a bunch of giants with a huge club and wins
Jack and the Beanstalk - an English fairytale about a young boy who accidentally grows a beanstalk to the Giant World and only “kills” the giant at the end by cutting the beanstalk down, leaving the giant to fall to his (their?) death.
So, while we’ve already counted Jack and the Beanstalk, this episode does introduce a new variation on Jack - Jack the Giant Killer. (+1)
henry hubbard is BACK!!!!! yes!!!!!
and tomás!!! and A L P H O N S E
I am v psyched for what comes next.
honorable mentions:
these aren’t explicitly Liliputians, but they do talk about gulliver in the adventuring party. I don’t think they talk about him in the actual show though.
total: 3
Ep. 17
holy shit. so many right off the bat, with brennan and siobhan going through a list of c-list folktales!
Fear Not (+1)
another grimm fairytale - not their finest work i see why this guy would be c-list lol
the brave little tailor (+1)
aka “the guy who kills a bunch of flies with his belt”
this is a for-real grimm fairytale about a guy who kills 7 flies at once, is very proud of it, makes a belt that says “Seven at One Blow” on it, and then goes out into the world and has his shit wrecked from various people misinterpreting what “Seven at One Blow” means
it’s hilarious
another jack tale!! Jack and Jill! (+1)
three blind mice (+1)
honorable mentions:
Henry talks about reuniting a clockwork man with a man in an eyepatch
this is all consistent with the Herr Drosselmeyer lore from all the way back in the first episodes of the show! We already counted him, so no new points, but still very cool!
also cool how brennan combined shoeberg w giant-slaying bc i mean how did they get all those ludicrously big shoes?
the golden goose shows Timothy all the versions of his story where they are one and the same. I’m not counting this as her showing him a new, separate fairytale, since it just overlaps two tales that we already have counted. also, I cried, that was a really intense part of the episode.
in the adventuring party they talk a lot about Narnia and “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.”
ik those aren’t exactly ye olde english fairytales, since they came out in 1950, but if Aslan wandered into the neverafter I’d count him for sure
we learn what the harp does!
the harp’s power is consistent with the jack and the beanstalk myth, but it also reminded me of several other myths about lulling beasts to sleep
e.g. Hermes of Greek mythology fame (and supposedly the inventor of the lyre) also killed the giant Argus after lulling half of his eyes to sleep with the lyre and boring the other half to sleep with various tales of his exploits. (Argus’ big thing was having a bunch of eyes all over his body)
lulling a beast to sleep is a common theme across cultures, makes sense that it’s the kind of archetype useful for the gang.
it’s very possible that some aspect of how baba yaga’s cottage was described alludes to some other Slavic folklore that I didn’t pick up on
total: 4
Ep 18
“The Wishing Star” (+1)
fuck disney for making it impossible to find real fairytales about wishing stars on google
there are many tales/nursery rhymes about wishing on stars. “star light, star bright” is the first that comes to mind, but I’m sure there’s others. we’ll count this as a multi-tale figure and give it +1
honorable mentions
so. The Trials of Baba Yaga could refer to several things.
The Tale about Baba-Yaga is a 18th c. folk story where Baba Yaga has one normal human son (???) who marries a normal human woman, who then has to prove herself by doing seemingly normal chores (milk the cows, shear the sheep) that she then finds out from her husband are secretly meant to kill her (the cows are bears, the sheep are wolves).
(aka a fucked up slavic version of the tale of eros and psyche.)
(not that eros and psyche isn’t fucked up, just in a different way)
There is a 2017 book called “Winston and Baum and the Trials of the Baba Yaga” I do not think this is what was being referenced, and as it is modern and not a folk story, I’m not counting it.
other stuff I can find about Baba Yaga also includes stepdaughters having to do chores with secret meanings - it’s a part of her Thing
I’m including this under the general Baba Yaga mythos, not as its own thing, but still cool stuff to know about.
Prince Johnathan of Apogee (that’s how the subtitles spell it)
so. wayyyy back in episode 11 we find out that the kingdom of apogee is where Rumplestiltskin happened.
I think that’s all the Apogee info we have, and with a name as vague as Johnathan I don’t think we can call it a reference to anything.
We got Mother Goose’s OG rhyme!!!
not a new story but very cool!!!
there’s more but I think they stopped at a good place
fun fact: I found an extra verse that isn’t in the one linked above
“Then old Mother Goose/that instant came in/and turned her son Jack/into famed Harlequin/She then with her wand/touched the lady so fine/and turned her at once/into sweet Columbine”
and then they go on with the rest of the book like that bit never happened
other fun mother goose shit
i thought that littlefinger and “chaos is a ladder” were fairytale quotes but they’re from game of thrones it turns out. ._.
total: 1
Ep 19
no new tales (it’s the finale pt 1) but several honorable mentions
“As you wish”
cinderella girl you are KILLING ME
for those not in the know, this is an allusion to The Princess Bride
in the context of the book & movie, it means “I love you”
could be unintentional but i highly doubt it.
the book is too recent to count as fairytale for our purposes (1973) but it is very much in that genre. god damn.
la bête saying “be our guest” alludes to the disney beauty and the beast movie obvs
“Something wicked this way comes”
quote from Macbeth, by Shakespeare
I don’t think Shakespeare counts as fairytales. idk the vibes are just off. ik it’s an Old Story but it isn’t a fairytale.
total: 0
Ep 20
this is it gang!
The Fairies
so in the 1880s, Andrew Lang wrote a series of fairytale books named after fairies of various colors. I’m counting each fairy who has a book named after them as a new tale.
EXCEPT: the Blue Fairy
ok look i fucked up yall. The Fairy With Turquoise Hair is re-named “The Blue Fairy” in a lot of adaptations, so when I previously counted her separately from Pinocchio bc she had her own book, I was referring to “The Blue Fairy Book”
so we’re not counting it here bc that would be counting it twice. apologies to the actual Blue Fairy.
The Red Fairy Book (+1)
The Green Fairy Book (+1)
The Orange Fairy Book (+1)
The Yellow Fairy Book (+1)
this is by no means all of Lang’s color fairy books. he’s got crimson, violet, grey, pink, you name it.
honorable mentions
Calvin & Hobbes is modern day folklore
I looked up to see if there’s any actual Aesop fables with a shark in em, closest I could find was a dolphin. Rip.
Beaky’s stint in the TAA lines up with Pinocchio’s story, so not a new tale. thank you for your service beaky o7
total: 4
total series tale count: 62
alas, the only mystery remaining is Scheherazade’s spider. someday I may come back to this post with new information about her, but today is not that day. If you know any middle eastern myths/fairytales/folklore/nursery rhymes that prominently feature a spider that guards a maze or guides people through caves, please feel free to reply/reblog with your knowledge.
this show has been a fun and wild ride. Here’s a shortened version of this post with just the numbers
thank you for coming on this journey with me - see you in the stories!

𓆈appearance𓆈
𓆈 i'm tall, taller than most of my friends → i'm 6'2. my figure is hourglass shaped, something like models in 50s/60s fashion magezines, i think. i have shaggy golden blonde thick curls, my hair is long so i usually tie it up in two buns and two braids (like goldilocks from puss in boots: the last wish). my eyes are amber. i have skinny hands with long fingers
𓆈 my clothing style is mix of whimsigoth, cryptidcore and grandmacore. i really like unusual jewelry → weird shaped rings, earrings, brooches (i especially love the insect shaped and art nouveau ones)
𓆣personality𓆣
𓆣 i'm positive and upbeat person, i try to see the bright side in most situations. i'm friendly, cheerful and bubbly. i'm full of energy and i can be a bit chaotic, but i try to be as responsible as possible, i want people to feel that they can rely on me
𓆣 i'm really confident and i'm not afraid to express myself
𓆣 i care about my friends and family a lot, and go out of my way to show it. i love making people smile
𓆣 i'm super kind person, but won't take any nonsense
𓆣 i have morbid, dark sense of humor. sometimes i randomly say a weird obscure fact in the middle of conversation
𓆣 i'm kinda struggling with taking rest, doing nothing, because there is always something to do, something new to learn, etc. → i'm afraid of stagnation. i overwork myself a lot
𓆣 can't think of anything that i don't like, guess i'm so fixated on my hobbies and passions, i don't pay any attention to other things
𓃹 my hobbies 𓃹
𓃹 dancing and performing. i'm ballet dancer since i was a kid. i also try my skills as figure skater
𓃹 sewing and knitting. i sew most of my clothes and i made for myself tons of sweaters, with most silly patterns like characters from old cartoons, for example "wilk i zając" or "krecik"
𓃹 playing on instruments. i can play on violin, cello, piano, guitar, saxophone, harp and drums, i'm currently learning how to play on trumpet
𓃹 learning. about world and universe or learning new skills. i'm deeply fascinated by space and oceans, they're still unknown to humanity, learning about them makes me sigh in wonder and admiration. i also love nature, i could spend days wandering in forests, observing and learning about animals, insects, plants
𓃹 doll making. i love making dolls, puppets, marionettes. wooden, porcelain, rag, basically every type. i organize puppet theaters, sometimes i give my works as gifts to my loved ones
𓃹 art, any kind of art actually. i like to learn about artists and their work, and i like to try different types of art. sculpting, painting, ceramics, photography, filmmaking, i adore them all. i work as illustrator for fantasy books and books for kids (and honestly this job is dream come true for me!)
𓃹 gardening and herbalism. i work on in garden a lot, i grow flowers, vegetables and herbs. i know herbal medicine, i make my own infusions and tinctures
𓃹 cooking and baking. i learn new recipes whenever i have the opportunity. my favorite things to bake are bread and cookies. i also pick mushrooms, dry them or pickle them
sorry if it's too long or too chaotic (・ัω・ั)
thank you so much for even reading this! ( ╹▽╹ )

🐙 You met Tamaki while out Pro-heroing, you have a pretty useful fighting quirk, but you usual go out and help those who are in need during/after crazy battles - the poor civilians often needed medical help, and you were there to help them; and then you met Tamaki
🐙 After one nasty battle, thankfully not a lot of people were harmed, you finished healing a few people and decided to go up and thank the other heroes for their good work - Mirio and Nejire matched the same bright and bubbly vibe of yours perfectly, while Tamaki was a bit nervous and thanked you in return
🐙 From then on, you met up with the three young heroes, going to little cafes to grab a bite to eat, and during that time, you got to know Tamaki a little bit more too - you actually surprise him, mirio, and nejire when randomly in a conversation you blurted out a really random fact
🐙 For Tamaki's birthday, after having known him for a while, you gifted him a homemade puppet - you took his little smile and words of thanks as a very good sign that he liked and appreciated it; he was amazed how talented you are
🐙 You and Tamaki are very much opposites, but like mirio and nejire, he works well with you, believing that you are a great and loyal friend - he knows that he could always rely on you

🎤 You and Hizashi are literally like the most perfect match - you are both bright, friendly, cheerful, bubbly little fire balls of energy (and both very much chaotic); he's confident , you're confident, he's loves making people happy, you love making people happy - I could say more but I think you get the idea (bit of an age gap? Who cares? You guys are perfect)
🎤 On to the dating stages of your life, cause we all know that you and he would just automatically be best friends in the beginning, you and Hazashi would literally always be there for each other; ride or die really - another thing that the two of you hate, stagnation, Hizashi is always doing something, (as are you)
🎤 Though, if things do settle down, (just slightly, we all know he won't stop moving), Hizashi is totally down to help you do whatever you need to get done; you're gardening? Hizashi is already repotting your plants, you're baking cookies? He's already tossing them in the oven and stealing cookie dough on the side
🎤 You do spend a lot of time together - it's like his favorite thing, if you haven't noticed - whether it's painting portraits of each other, dancing around the kitchen while baking bread, or teaching him how to sew his own clothes, he's loving it because you love it and he's doing it all with you
🎤 But then again, when times are slower, Hizashi will always take walks through forests with you, his curiosity getting the best of him as he asks you about almost every insect, animal, or plant that you both pass by; Hizashi loves everything that you do, finding you incredible, and he tells you often - he gifts you a lot of things that you like as well (like weird jewelry), but most of all, he loves spending time with you, just being in your presence fuels him
